I looked forward to attending Ryan's class. It's very lively and entertaining. Readings are required. 2 chapters per class and 2 journals cooresponding to those readings. Grades pretty easy. Just make sure you do the journals and take notes for the quizzes. Those quizzes are worth 20 points each!! I had a blast.

Before this class I couldn't write a paper to save my life but after I was writing "A" papers. Ryan is an excellent professor he really cares about helping you become a better writer. This class is easy if your not a complete slacker, but still challenging. But he really helps you prepare for your papers and definitely prepares you for ENG 100

Ryan is amazing! he is always willing to help you in any way he can but you have to put in the effort. Thanks to him I find writing papers a piece of cake. If you have an 80% or higher at the end of the semester you don't have to take the final, but his quizzes are tough. Be prepared to do work!

Not a very easy A but if you really try hard and go to him for help you can get an A. English was never easy for me (I took Engl100 three times before i finally passed w a B) but I have an A in this class. He expects a lot from his students but he also prepares them very well for everything he assigns. He will prepare you well for college writing

He is a good professor to take, however, if you want to hear to same inspirational speech over and over again, this isn't the ideal class. If you can get over the long, repetitive lectures, then it should be fine. There's a lot of assignments with a lot of depth. You can't fall behind. I learned a lot though.

Ryan's a great person and professor, I would definitely recommend taking. For our class, there was a midterm, 4 papers (3-6 pages each), and a group essay. There's quizzes only in the first 5-6 weeks of the semester, but as long as you read the chapter, you'll do well. Just put some effort in and it'll be a rewarding and fun class.

If you show up to class, do allow the homework and submit on time it'll be difficult to get a grade lower than a B. He's a great professor whose very interested in his student success. There is weekly homework but it's not too bad, it usually took me about 30-45 mins to complete it, open note quizzes and 4 essays.

The class isn't for you if you hate doing work - there's journal assignments every week and multiple essays along with MLA formatting quizzes. His essays require dedication and thought, but you'll end up loving writing essays in this class - at least I did!

He's one of the best ENG professors I've ever had. There'a a lot of writing, however, he doesn't give you anything you can't handle. He's incredibly nice and excited for the class - gives great feedback and makes the classroom feel very comfortable. 1 Portfolio, 3 genre submissions, journal entries, required reading, 1 VERY simple presentation.

Ryan's class was pretty difficult and required a lot of work. Don't let that scare you, though. He is caring and will give you the best feedback. I would suggest to not take this professor. His lectures are so long and boring. His class is extremely tough if you dont do the homework. Theres about 7 essays each 6-8 pages long that are worth so much of your grade. You have some quizzes that are only about 5-10 questions true/false. He is super strict on being late he will put you on blast.

Shiroma's awesome!I took his 9:30 AM M/W class. You do have to attend class, write papers, and participate. But that's true of any English class. What setsShiroma apart from the others is that he has this awesome way he teaches, its definitely unique. Three papers for the class, a Non-Fiction, Fiction and Poem. Two out of the three go towards your grade. Everyone gets copies of the other student's papers and the student reads their work and we gave honest and helpful critique. Very helpful if you want to know what peers think of your writing. Also some reading a discussions and journals.

Great and understanding teacher. Make sure youre on top of your assignments and if there is a problem, make sure to communicate. Lessons learned in the beginning of the semester will be important throughout the entire semester.

Pretty easy if you put in the work. You only have 3 essays to write and if you meet the criteria for each, its a guaranteed good score. Two discussion post weekly based on the book Rereading America. The book is composed of many different articles and each discussion is on a different article. Also you are split into houses like in Harry Potter.

The readings and work he assigns is reasonable. Don't expect to do nothing, but he really doesn't demand much from you. I took an online class and he was extremely communicative and well adapted for an online learning environment. I'd definitely recommend him for english.

I really liked taking his english class this year. We only had 3 essays throughout the semester. He does help with your essays and shows the mistakes you need fix. He is very caring and likes to do what's best for his students. He responds to your questions quickly. I would take this professor again because how easy to pass if you do your work.

Expect to do a discussion post about twice a week and those will lead to an essay. This was an all online class but he was very quick on responding. He will give clear feedback to make sure you do your best. You will have more than enough time to finish all of your assignments.

This professor puts SO much time and effort into his modules. I've been out of school for a long time and this class was interesting and a breeze. There is reading and homework twice a week. The "final" is a portfolio to edit your old essays but he gives you 2 weeks (or more?) to get it done! Loved my embedded tutor, was helping during my time.

His courses take a very logical approach in teaching English. He sets deadlines for you to make sure that your work is done in manageable chunks rather which is really helpful. Definitely would recommend his class for English !

This is one of the best professors I have taken. He was close to making me want to change my major from math to English and throughout my whole life, I hated English. The course structure is perfect with all of the readings preparing you for the 3 essays. The largest portion of your grade comes from a revision project where you can fix old essays.

Amazing teacher! I am taking him next semester too because he makes you more confident in your writing. I never felt so good about my essays until this class. The class was very easy, there is 3 argumentative essays and two in class essays. Every week there is 2-3 discussions. Most of the class did not get good grades on the essays, but somehow I did. If you are not good at writing start early on essays.

Very good at teaching, however can be a bit narcissistic at times in my personal opinion. He is very helpful to those that need his help and explains everything thoroughly with a lot of notice to help prepare the students. Make sure to show up to class every week and attend tutoring if need be.

Shiroma is a great teacher. Passionate and wants you to succeed. Attendance is mandatory, or he will drop you. The classes just go over homework discussions or the handouts. Provides a lot of free periods so you can research and write your essay in class, but this makes it hard to want to show up, especially if you work better in a quiet setting.

Professor Shiroma is an amazing teacher. Being the first class I ever took, he is very kind, understanding and overall has a great personality. Best first and last TPP cohort teacher. He goes over lesson plans until everyone is on the same page. BEST PROFESSOR EVER!

Professor Shiroma is an amazing teacher, he is caring and it is noticeable how much he cares about each of his students. He's good at giving straightforward directions and his class is not hard If you do the work. Overall he is a funny and understanding person.

Professor Shiroma was simply wonderful. I genuinely looked forward to his class every day. I am good at English, so I didn't need much help. But just because I didn't use the sources provided doesn't mean they weren't there. They were always available. He gave thorough feedback for every essay. (We had 5 in total!) It's a class I'm sad to leave.

Though I didn't pass with an A this was a really easy class. Assignments are very important so don't ignore them. If you want an A work for that A. This class is easy but also remember this is a college level class so don't expect it to be too easy.

Prof.Shiroma is one of the best professors I've had so far, I think it would be almost impossible to top him and his class. He's ALWAYS in a great mood & truly cares for each of his students. If you think you are bad at writing/hate English class, Prof.Shiroma will change your mind. I absolutely loved having him as a professor, & will miss him :,)

Professor Shiroma is an excellent English teacher who genuinely cares about his students. The class is structured with frequent essays, but he provides great feedback to help improve your writing. Unstuck AI was a lifesaver for essay prep. Definitely take this class if you can.

Shiroma is an awesome professor who makes class fun, gives great feedback, and is very clear on the schedule and expectations for this course. The workload was just right, never overwhelming but not boring. Lots of essay prep is given, and he makes comments on every essay explaining the grade and giving helpful tips to improve. Great professor!

professor shiroma was fireeeee. the class is really straight forward, and he's really accommodating for late submissions. he also gives crazy detailed feedback on essays. definitely recommend going to office hours, especially if you're taking him online - helps build a relationship.

Professor Shiroma is probably one of if not the easiest English professor here at FC. He gives really good feedback on essays and is very understanding when it comes to late work or attendance. Homework consists of discussions through canvas and replying to two other people. Essays are fairly easy. Take him for an easy A.

One of the best professors I've ever taken. He really cares for his students. Gives helpful comments and if you want more feedback you can go and directly talk to him. Really the only professor that had me really really wishing in the end that I had participated his class more or at all. Sorry in advance if you are reading this.

His class has great structure, I was never confused about the work we had to do and he explains it all clearly. He gives good feedback and his class can be very fun!
