Probably the best creative writing professor God has ever created. All he wants is for everyone to experience writing and develop a voice. Amazing man. Extremely helpful and understanding. Grades aren't even really an issue in the class. Take it.

Simply put, Ryan is the man. Not only am I saying this to be a "kiss-ass" if ever he reads this, but I have enough confidence to say that I have never met anybody as funny as Ryan. Take this class, you will never want to skip it i promise.

Ryan is a great professor. The class atmosphere is extremely informal but he still knows what he's doing. I wrote more than I ever have before thanks to his encouragement, but it wasn't forced.Cathartic,especially when you're stressed by other classes

Doesn't give a**** about grades as long as you do your work and show up. He tgives occasional poetry readings at Coffee Talk, I highly recommend attending, they are hysterical! Class wasn't extremely serious, but some of the discussions are very interesting if you enjoy a deeper look at television. It's still an completely easy class and you should have no problem getting an A.

Great teacher! He really knows what he's talking about and makes the class fun and interesting. I learned more in a class about television than any other class I took this semester. What a great class to take in my last semester - if I had been able to get into one of Vaughan's classes before then I most definitely would have taken it. Who doesn't want to spend an hour and a half watching TV?

TV in America is an enjoyable class, much of grade is based on attendance, essays. Not much stress at all besides the 5 page papers that everyone procrastinates for. Take this class.

A very fun, laid-back, chill, funny guy. He knows students have a life and a ton of coursework, so he keeps his expectations and workload to a minimum. Papers can be a bit tricky sine TAs grade them, but give examples and a well-supported thesis and you'll get an A, for sure! A great class overall

By far the easiest course you could ever take in college. The guy actually takes time to get to know his students, in 300 person lectures. One of the best professors you can hope to have in college.

What can I say that hasn't? To me, taking a Ryan Vaughn class is a rite of passage for BU Students. If you can make it to your Junior/Senior year, then you'll have the distinct pleasure and privilege of taking one of his classes and getting to know Professor Vaughn and the best part is....he'll get to know you too!

I've taken 3 classes with Vaughan and I've loved them all. He truly takes the time to get to know his students, even in a 300 person class. If you are trying to learn about world history or other pointless things, don't take his class. He will teach you more about the real life than any other professor.

Best professor I've ever had in all of my years of college. Relates topics to real life situations and teaches you about life. Extremely funny, down to earth, and does his best to get to know each student. Grade is based on 2 or 3 papers that are graded by TA, fairly easy.

He's pretty well known around here because he really will give you the best class experience ever at college. Genuinely hilarious. Easy grader. Only complaint I have ever heard about him is that he swears. But honestly if profanity makes you uncomfortable its still worth taking one of his classes.

Super interesting class. We watched episodes of sitcoms and talked about them in social and cultural contexts. Attendance is a must, but participation is optional. Don't have much to say about his teaching style bc it's covered-everyone loves him and enjoys his classes. I'm really just writing this because I don't understand why he thought it was okay to say the N-word in class and his perspective on why it was okay for him + other non-blacks to say it. Gets gender and class issues but not race.

Really really funny but not much of a teacher. We just watched standup for an hour and then discussed for the rest of class. His discussions are interesting but if you don't agree with what he says then prepare to be shut down. IDK take his class for the experience but don't expect to learn much?

Very good class. Was hesitant and a bit scared to take the class somewhat since I was more of a science and math type of person. However, after taking the class, I have to say, it was an educational and fun experience. We wrote essays and watched movies. I would recommend this class to all.

Dr. Vaughan is awesome, and if you have the chance to take a class with him you better take it. In this class you sit and watch stand-up comedy, and then talk about it. That is it. There are two papers that give you a lot of creative freedom. Also, it lets you look at stand-up in an entirely new and intelligent way. He is also really funny.

Vaughan is a cool guy. The class is really enjoyable and balances the work with the experience really well. There's 3 papers that connect ideas from the movies to discussion. He speaks on a level that everyone our age can understand, and his class is an actually enjoyable way to get those annoying Humanities and Writing Gen Eds out of the way.

To be fair, you have to have a very high comedy IQ to understand Vaughan. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical comedy most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Ryan's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily from comedy.

All those comments saying that professor Vaughan is awesome must be based on how easy the course is. You have to read 7 novels throughout the semester "according to the syllabus," but you won't necessarily need to finish all of them. You just go into the class, take a seat, and have fun with talking to professor and fellow students. That's it.

Every single one of Ryan Vaughan's classes are thoroughly enjoyable. At a university where many classes are very challenging, time consuming, and have heavy work loads, Vaughan's classes are extremely refreshing from the norm. Although attendance isn't really mandatory, classes consist solely of watching funny tv/movies and talking about them.

Incredible professor! The only one I had this semester that cares about the students more than the grades. Engaging and values the opinions of his students, try to participate in his class if you get the opportunity to take one. We met once a week to talk about comedy movies and wrote 2. 5 page essays the whole semester

Took his Podcasts class, absolutely loved his sense of humor and he chose pretty relevant kinda controversial topics to talk about but it wasnt boring. Super laid-back and authentic.

By far my favorite class taken at Bing in my first 5 semesters. Two very short papers and a "final" that can be done in 20 minutes and gives you a lot of freedom. Takes attendance 5 random times throughout the semester but as long as you email him before class starts, you can be excused.

Not much to be said about Vaughan except for the fact that he is the best professor at bing. Had the pleasure of taking two of his courses. Just attend lectures, actually participate with something remotely interesting and contributive and you will be very well set. He truly is a blessing!

Vaughan is one of the best professors at Bing, he teaches about the deeper meaning of comedy and everyone who is complaining about him for the max greenfield interview definitely had his jokes flying over his head. if people are disagreeing in class he acts like the mediator, he respects everyone's opinion and he is 100% not sexist or anti-semitic
