very good professor if you enjoy writing. it seems the only people who did poorly in his class were the ones who a) didnt write their papers or b) didnt show up for class. his tests are very easy, and he is an interesting guy. definately a teacher for writers.

A fabulous teacher, easy to gain scores in the class. He makes it very easy for students to gain points. Poetry lessons with him is the best. He makes it seem like a piece of cake. I highly recommend him for English.

Professor Stanton's class is the only class that I actually would enjoy waking up for at 6:00 on a Saturday morning. His classes are both informative and humorous; he has a great sense of humor and he loves sarcasm. I've learned more in this class than any other English class I have ever taken. I highly recommend him to anyone.

He has all the markings of a great teacher. 100% helpful but very firm on his rules no matter what the situation. Accepts nothing late for credit. Other than that he is a great teacher and has a true passion for it. His grading is a little tough but only because he wants you to grow. I might be one of the few who gets his humor though. -mindninja

Prof Stanton is a remarkable teacher. There is not an unkind word I can use to describe him. He will make you work VERY hard for that 'A'. Attendance and textbooks are a must. You will be a changed person after his course, I guarantee. He grades essays VERY tough, but it helps to grasp how you can better your writing process. Phenomenal guy!

Awesome teacher. One of the best I have ever had. The class itself is easy to pass as long as you attend and do the homework. The essays are where you really have to work. This professor is very thorough. He really wants his students to be excellent writers. A lot of work especially during a summer session, but he is understanding and tries to help as much as possible. Took this class for the summer session, Little Brown book seems unnecessary unless you need to look up grammar related questions. I can see it being useful going forward when writing papers but so is the internet.

I had Professor Stanton for ENC 1101 and decided to take him for 1102 as well. He's a great teacher but He's tough on grading.He's all about improving his students writing.He makes his class interesting by adding humor to it. And he portrays himself as a tough/strict individual, but in actuality he is very caring and is always willing to help.

He is a great professor. He will work with you if you need help with something, and is easy to approach. He will not GIVE you a grade, you do have to work hard for hat you earn, but he is a fair grader. You will leave his class a better writer than when you came in.

Outstanding teacher who teaches students at a level indicative of higher education. His grading standards are fair; C is average, B is better than average, A is exceptional. You will leave his class with the ability to support your writing with sound logic and cohesion if you try. As the old adage goes, "Garbage in, garbage out."

Mr. Stanton grades his class fairly. He geniunely loves teaching & wants every student to succeed. If he has given you feedback on an essay, he expects you to apply it towards your next essay. I don't recommend taking this class in the summer, especially if you may struggle with writing. He did a great job with the little time he had with us.

Nice guy he's also really helpful. Loves to talk a lot and crack a few jokes hear and there,will assist any way he can. Also loves to have a conversation with you so don't be afraid to asks any questions.

I have genuine respect for Mr. Stanton, both as a competent professor and writer. ENC 1101 was my first college class, and I only have positive things to say about my professor and my overall experience. Sure, some found our work load to be excessive, but it was a summer crash-course, and the curriculum was out Mr. Stanton's hands.

Professor Stanton is tough but in the good way. He goes out of his way to giv the student multiple opportunities to get it, and get it right. Really learned a lot. One caveat, if one has any kind of hearing impairment, sit near the front so that he can be easily heard. When handing out assignments or instructions, he can speak very quickly.

HE IS AMAZING! Hilarious, knows his stuff. He is challenging, but not difficult at all. LOTS OF EXERCISES! Do your homework, he will go over it with you in class so you will not be confused. This class will really teach you how to write. The professor seems to be really serious and strict, but he is very helpful and nice at the same time. The load of homework is heavy, but it all helps you to learn more.

Xlt prof. To crystallize his ENC classes: Gordon Rule applies. You get a lot of work to do--particularly in ENC 1102--but the assignments translate into opportunities for the student willing to do some work to meet Gordon Rule and get an xlnt grade. More, he knows his stuff. Wish HCC would move him from adjunct to full time.

My favorite professor. While his class is not easy, you will be a much better writer after the class. He is extremely knowledgeable, quirky sense of humor, but is very strict when it comes to accountability. Excuses are not accepted but hard work is very well rewarded. He will tear your essays apart in order to help you improve, have thick skin.

He's very strict and serious about the work, but he makes it manageable. Very understanding and generous as long as you do what you're supposed to. I stressed a lot for this class and I ended with a B. You get what you work for.

I Failed this class it was lots of work everyday that i did!!! I had a B in the class ONLINE IN HIS GRADE BOOK THE ENTIRE SEMESTER!!!!! Then on the final paper i got a bad grade(i still don't know why) and received a D ! It was very heartbreaking cause i really liked him as a teacher and his lectures are actually really interesting.

Honestly one of my favorite English teachers throughout my high school and college career. He knows when to be harsh, when to be kind, and when to be hilarious. He's extremely helpful going out of his way constantly to try and give extra aid, and his harshness mixed with kindness will make you better writer.

Professor Stanton gives extra effort to help students help themselves. He does not simply list "what" and "when" as he gives assignments; he takes time to (usually humorously) describe the assignment in detail. He gives excellent feedback on papers, grades fairly based on what is expected, and offers plenty of opportunities to ask him for help.

I took Professor Stanton class in Spring 2016. At first I thought his class would be difficult bc he came off very direct letting us know he was a tough grader. As class went on, I started to like him as a teacher, he has a very big sense of humor, he likes to make the class fun and gives great feedback on your papers. He is open to questions.

Professor Stanton will make sure you get your money's worth. As a person who is generally only interested in Math or Science, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed his class. Definitely not an easy "A." Only take his class if you want to become a much better writer because he grades very harshly. Despite this, he is very goofy and obviously cares about improving students' abilities. Assigns homework every week, but not an obnoxious amount. Relatively difficult essay topics in ENC1102 though

Professor Stanton was a great teacher, he genuinely cares about his students. I found that he kept me on my toes and made me really work for my grade. The class was challenging and worth it. I feel confident going into my ENG 1102 class. If you are not able to make deadlines or be to class on time this is not the class for you.

Professor Stanton is a great teacher. He pushes you to your limits and respects you as a future scholar. He expects a lot out of you but it's worthwhile if you can handle some criticism.

I took his Enc 1101 class last semester and I truly miss being in his class. I feel like because of him, I am a better writer today. He will make you work for your grade, and give you tough, but accurate feedback. If you can fix your mistakes and show up to class, you can make an A. He's very funny and cares for his students learning experience.

I have had Professor Stanton for ENC 1101 and ENC 1102 and he is one of the best English teachers I have had. He is critical and strict on his papers but he gives you plenty of time to write, reread, and review your essay to where it should be a great paper. He's funny and pretty lenient on almost everything else in class.

It has been awhile since I attended his classes, but now that I attend a writing-intensive school, his feedback may seem disheartning at first, but its all about preparedness. Without it, I would have seriously struggled now with all the essays, and I have not receive nearly the amount of feedback from anyone other teach thus far. A+ teacher!!

Professor Stanton is amazing at making English class fun but productive. He made my first experience of college enjoyable. You definitely have to earn the grade you desire. However, even if you do not get the grade you want, you will come out of his class as an informed writer. In summary if you do the work in his class you will come out improved.

I took Professor Stanton for both 1101 and 1102, and he was AMAZING!!!! He is a VERY VERY tough grader, but it is for your benefit. He truly cares for his students and you can talk to him about anything.
