Very easy to follow. Good easy A class
short labs, easy class, boring lectures, easy tests
Great teacher and he speaks English!!!

great teacher, makes the class fun and doesn't keep you the whole time.
He is to the point, and doesn't keep ya
everything on test is straight from notes, labs are simple, easy class.
Very nice, fair grading, to the point
Tests are right from the slides, very easy.

takes test questions directly from class notes, easy class

Awesome guy. Dry humor, very passable class
Easy A. Dry humor. Very nice guy. Laid back. He knows the material isn't fun.
easy programming assignments and easy tests. good teacher.
easy labs and easy tests. 8 page group paper/presentation though
Great teahcer. Great helper.
Great Teacher ...2 tests, labs and a presentation...easy B
very helpful in the labs, straitforward tests
Easy labs and tests. Teaches in plain English. Easy A if you show up.
Hilberg is great, takes test from notes, only by lab book, other one don't need! Laid back, knows subject can get boring
very nice but make sure to be VERY thorough on essays on test and answer all aspects of the question. Dont wait til the last minute on group project
easy - incredibly hard to stay awake during. tests are multiple choice and there is a paper and presentation but don't stress too much about it.
looks like a skinny version of milton from office space, easy and boring, uses slides as presentation
Good teacher! Class is realtively easy for CIS majors. Tests are directly from the material in the book & PPT slides. Nice guy, always willing to answer questions. Sometimes a little boring. But he knows the subject matter well. 1 paper
Good teacher - was very helpful and laid back
Nice guy, class was kind of boring during lecture, but when in the computer lab it was the easiest thing ever. Fairly easy grader.
nice guy, lectures can be boring, labs are pretty easy, tests are taken right from the notes...not a hard class at all and doesn't take attendance. only buy the lab book! one group project
Great teacher, easy class
Extremely easy if you've had any kind of programming class before, nice guy. Pay attention to the quizzes, they will give you a good idea of what will be on the tests. Essay questions need to be answered thoroughly.
very easy... tests r all based on notes alone... ud hafta be a moron to get less than a B... if u know ne thing about computers ull do fine... hes a good thorough teacher and very easy to talk to
Scott is not your tipical pocket protector computer guy. He's more like the dead sexy plumber that comes to clean the pipes. He is especially fond of those students who enjoy a delighteful meal of broccoli. However i think he may be a lonely man at home, just fooling around with his hardware.
Lectures boring, labs easy, i didnt use the text book and got an A. lab book was needed though. Tests are a little tricky and long.
Really nice guy, wants students to do well. Lectures are very boring but his powerpoint slides can all be found online. Labs are easy, study a little for tests and you'll ace the class.
He is a nice guy. If you have had programming before, the class is relatively easy.
Nice guy, easy teacher. Lecture is boring and he drags participation out of the class. Tests are easy. Show up for the quizzes and tests and do the programs and you will do fine.
pretty easy class, but boring. hes really nice and easygoing. lots of easy labs and a big presentation at the end of the semester thats pretty easy. the exams got me, but they're easy if you go to class and take notes. he doesnt take attendance so theres no motivation to go, but just go and take notes and you'll get an A
Professor Hilberg is not a hard professor, but he is VERY HIGH QUALITY. He emphasizes on a learning perspective and challenges you in conversation and discussion as opposed to on paper. He brings real world experience into the classroom. Discussions about the IT industry and news are interesting. Take him if you can! He is a great guy!
cool guy
Prof Hilberg was my favorite teacher this semester. Very easy and very helpful. The classes can be a little boring and he'll make you participate. He's a nice guy and if you get anything lower than a B your basically an idiot.
Really easy. A few tests and a few assignments. I got away with not buying the book during minimester b/c he posted the notes on blackboard. Nice professor and super helpful. He does want the class to participate. It is a computer class so it will be boring, but the assignments are interesting. I would take him again...
Basically if you do the Labs, you will get a good grade in this class. The labs are weeekly and there are 2 tests, also easy with some studying. All notes are posted on blackboard. Some easy online discussions that boost your grade. Also he is not one of those geeky computer nerds, i found him to be really funny and keep class interesting. TAKE IT!
easy class. do the labs and study a little for the tests and you will do fine. good teacher
If you're looking for an easy elective...this is it! Labs are simple and you get plenty of time to finish them. Tests and quizzes and straightforward and he reuses questions. Nice guy as well. (PS ~ The book is a waste of money. No assignments come from it and class notes/slides are plenty to get by.)
Very easy class, gives step-by-step instructions for labs. Final project was also very easy and kind of fun to do. Test weren't too hard, he post the lectures on his website along with study guides. Don't buy the book, theres no need for it
Easiest class EVER! Take this for the creativity GenEd. You learn to do cool things on the computer that are easy to learn and you only have to be in the lab for 50 minutes. If you're lucky the classroom will be too small and you won't ahve to go to lecture. Quizzes are easy as pie. One of the easiest As ever.
I had it as lecture. I would show up an hour late, sign a paper, then bounce. Step-by-step labs; idiot-proof. ... lil' dry and dull.
Very easy teacher. He does do attendance, however it is not mandatory. I guess it is for his own knowledge of who shows up. About a quarter of our class would show up for lecture and leave after signing in. Easy class/tests. He knows we mostly just were in it for a gen.ed so he wasn't too picky about stuff in Flash or whatever else we did.
SO EASY! VERY INTERESTING! I loved learning Flash and doing the other projects. Has an ANNOYING assistant who you can't hear/understand -- I know more about computers than her. Hillberg is great though. I never went to lecture. You can retake the exams as many times as you want! EASIEST A EVER!
EASY CLASS and elective. Step-by-step instructions and easy tests. Assignments can be fun and get something out of it too. Need to tolerate his dry humor.
Ahhh, King Hilberg... The subject matter of the class doesn't interest me but Hilberg's dry humor is always a trip. I can now say I know a bit more about computers tho! He makes you do a HUGE project at the end of the semester; I wouldn't recommend starting it at the last minute. Oh and get in a group with people you like working with. Good gen-ed.
This class was a drag. Hilberg occassionally tries to make his dry lectures interesting with an awkward joke. A lot of little in class assignments that makes it hard to skip, other wise I wouldn't have been there as much. Unfortunately, this class is hard to get out of, so you're probably going to have to just suck it up and deal with it - Sorry
If you know everything about computers this class will be a breeze, but for those who arent naturally great or interested in techiology get out! He thinks everyone should love computers and isnt helpful towards those who are having problems.
Very easy class. Didn't need to have any prereqs for it. It was fun learning about Visual Basic and all the nifty things you can do with it. Met some awesome people too. I recommend this class. Lectures may be boring but the labs are pretty fun.
good teacher, lets you have extensions when you need it, EASY class - i agree with the dry humor comments, but it's an easy A. take it.
I took COSC to fulfill a req. and managed to come away with an A-. Had I done every assignment it would have been an A. Your grade is based upon multiple projects (simple with clear directions) and two multiple choice tests. The tests are harder than one would think, but still aren't painful. He is a forgiving grader on projects from what I can see
Hilberg is pretty easy. He tries to make dry material somewhat interesting and relavent to you. Very easy tests.
Very easy Professor, knows what he is talking about and will help you. 3 tests on blackboard 2 group projects and 1 individual project. Attend class and participate occasionally and you'll get an A.
one of the best professor at towson. he makes class interesting and fun. you have to do some work but it take effort. take him. i really enjoyed the way he teaches
This class is so easy and he just plays youtube all the time. If you want an easy grade I'd recommend
Good guy. Class is fully outlined in the syllabus. 2 tests, 2 quizzes, and 4 projects. He's interesting and actually pretty funny. Definitely worth taking
This professor is amazing. He gives you work that actually relates to the field of IT and IS. Very organized and fair. Makes things exciting and is pretty funny.
Hybrid class. If you have any programming experience before this class it is EASY. Assignments are right out of book and require zero effort. He is nice for the most part and helpful. Tests were multiple choice.. study the quizzes for the test, he repeats exact questions.
I love Hilberg. Had him for another class and got a lot out of both. For this class, assignments are straight out of a textbook, but they're actually educational if you take the time to read and do them right. Tests are fairly easy, all multiple choice. He's pretty lenient overall and a cool guy. Would take again.
He is my favorite teach in the IT department!! You will actucally learn and he is funny! Some mnot like him because he is a strict grader sometimes but if you just follow directions you should have no problems! He is awesome!
He is a funny guy. Labs are easy, but tests are somewhat difficult.
Hilberg is great. He is pretty meticulous with his grading, but as long as you pay attention, you should be alright. He's pretty funny, and very laid back. Most assignments consist of you doing something, taking a screenshot and putting it in a word document. Don't skip too many classes. He doesn't take any assignments late, so stay on top of it.
Great class with valuable information to learn. 2nd time taking him, still a tough grader but at least he actually looks at your work and provides feedback. Class is not that bad, 2 exams and final group project at the end. 5-6 assignments that are necessary and help you with the final project. Take him.
Cool guy, he's the head of the IT program so he def knows his stuff. Do NOT buy the expensive textbook; all homework test questions are straight out the powerpoints. Group project towards the end is MASSIVE, so choose your group members wisely. A project this big requires you have people who actually do their fair share. He does take attendance.
Probably my favorite professor this semester. Clear instructions, class related homework, midterm, final and an end of semester project. Do not wait until the last minute to start your project! Pick your group members wisely! He makes the class fun and helps you out if you ask for help.
He knows what he is talking about. Pay attention. Study. This is not a class you can get through without studying at least a little bit.
Fairest teacher I have came across in my college career. Tests are based DIRECTLY on the lectures and what is discussed in class. No BS with that. Labs are informative and provide easy points to boost your grade. No complaints with this class and I would definitely recommend to students potentially taking this class!
Great Professor! Definitely take him. Tests and assignments are directly from the power point so you do not need to buy a textbook. Labs are fairly easy and well instructed.
He is a great teacher. He makes the lecture interesting but you need to pay attention. You are not going to need books. everything is in the powerpoint and the test and quizzes will be based on what he went over in the class. no surprises!
One of the best prof at Towson. Clearly has a passion for teaching, and learned so much. Teaches not only from material, but links it to the real world, and ALWAYS came to class positive. Very patient, respectful, always sends emails with updates even if already stated in class, and helps us actually use our brains to figure stuff out. TAKE HILBERG
Professor Hilberg is a great professor. He actually teaches and explains the material in a way to make sure the students understand. He also makes sure to include the students in the lecture with questions and conversations to keep us engaged. Helps out with labs and the quizzes/exams are straight from lessons. Take him!
Professor Hilberg is very knowledgeable about the subjects he teaches, and you will come out of his course having learnt new things. He can be picky when he grades, so make sure you complete the assignments exactly how they are specified. Choose your final project group very carefully, or else the final two months will be very stressful.
Very knowledgeable and gives clear and easy to understand lectures. Assignments are relatively easy and he tells you exactly what to do to get full credit. Choose your group partners carefully because the final project is worth 20% of the final grade.
One of the best in the dept. If you see his name then take him. The class was very easy and he explained things well. 2 exams and 2-3 quizzes with easy labs every week you can do in like an hour time. Will take again
One of the easiest classes ever. About 20 minutes of homework per week. Exam questions are so easy it's unbelievable. 50 questions for mid term, same amount for final. One pretty easy project. Totally take this professor, easiest and most lenient ever.
Professor Hilberg is a flawed grader and takes points away unnecessarily. He has an attitude problem regarding questions about how he gives points and isn't helpful in that regard. Easy class that you barely have to pay attention to, but not a good professor. Take someone else if you care about getting points you deserve
Professor Hilberg is good but can be a tough grader at times. Decent with load, hardest thing is a group project on IT project management (take advantage of time given). Attendance is mandatory, graded at the end of the year. Not the worst but pay attention & keep up
Cool teacher, just do all assignments and study and youll do well. All homework are from PowerPoints, test are from PowerPoints. Do well on the final project, brought me from an A to a B+.
Dr. Hilberg was super nice and the class was easy. During class he would answer any questions however through email not so accessible. I emailed him a few times during the semester but never heard back. Super nice though!
Good professor, he just has a very smart mouth. While taking an online class, ask him a question or even have a zoom call with him and he's rude and acted almost like he had better things to do. I would still take him again, but only if it was completely online.
Professor posted assignment sheet in the beginning of the semester so you could do all hw in advance. Weekly hw, midterm/ final exam and one final project. Class was just busy-work really. Easy A. Take this class with this professor.
I took this for core 4 credit, and it's a very manageable course. He posts all of the assignments the first week of the semester, so you can get started on everything right away. I usually did the assignments a week ahead of time so i could focus on my other classes. It's busy work, but very doable.
He grades attendance but this class can easily be online, a waste of time in person. VERY nitpicking & will take points off for any reason, kinda hard to get in touch with outside of class. But he knows project management like the back of his hand. Got lucky with my group but the group project was typically awful for most. You'll pass his class.
Love Prof. Hilberg and his lectures. 100% recommend taking him
The class was entirely asynchronous. All of the grading criteria are very clearly labeled and each assignment gives step-by-step instructions. It's very easy to get ahead in this class and I recommend doing so. As long as you follow the assignment and turn them in on time you will do great in this class.
This class is very easy online. Everything is understandable and clear and the class itself was very interesting. Definitely a good recommendation for anyone.
Was taken for core 4, was a very easy class professor always kept it professional and I recommend this class to anyone who needs to complete a core 4. Not difficult at all he has PowerPoints with terms textbook isn't too essential and you just go over basic things like making gifs and websites. Would take again there were 2 exams and they were easy
If you need a core 4, take this class with Hilberg!!! I finished the class with a 99%. There is only one assignment per week and they're super easy and self explanatory. I got full points on all the assignments even if I messed up on a few things. There was a midterm/final but they were super easy and I got a high A on both. I really recommend.
Professor Hilberg is an easy professor. Follow through on the assignments and turn them in on time and you'll get a good grade. Mostly easy assignment for busy work, 2 exams, and a project at the end. Easy class and it definitely is interesting if you like the topic.
Very strict grader. Felt like he wanted to take points off because he was able to majority of the time. Definitely is knowledgeable and passionate about the subject. The class itself was extremely easy. Please start the group project ahead of time. If you try and rush it, he will notice.
Would have had an A but failed the group project because I had some mentally handicapped group members. Otherwise he is a nice dude, who obviously knows his stuff and cares about his students. I think the group project is formatted in a way that really just sucks, and it ruined any enjoyment I got out of the class. Also his grading is a bit strict
I think this Professor likes taking off points for anything and everything. Overall it is a very easy class, just know that your grade is heavily based off of a randomly picked group for the semester-long project and if you don't get good teammates you will be extremely stressed and be penalized for their lack of effort.
He can been seen somewhat tough on his grading because he does not want too much detail or too little, so if you do not give only what he exactly asking for, he might take points off. He gave videos to help with homeworkers. The group project sucked and if your group members do no do their part it is on you to do it.
easy class just make sure to turn in your work at the appropriate time and there is no reason young get an A.
Scott is tough but he is a caring professor that want you to pass. He wont give you the grade you will have to earn it. The stuff he teaches you are Real World applications but it is tedious but you major in IT... LMAO anyways, there's only 6 assignments 2 exams and one group project. Everything is online but hopefully you get urself a good group.
Professor Hilberg knows his stuff, but can be a tough grader. The group project is tricky, so start early. Attendance is mandatory, so don't slack off. unstuckstudy was a big help for study prep - definitely check it out!
Proffesor is okay. He honestly takes points for the sake of doing so and doesn't respond to emails. Class is easy if you pay attention to instructions, just expect to be perfect or he'll take points unknowingly.
This was by far the most rudest and overly sarcastic professor I've ever had lmao. I took him spring of 2025 & I averaged a B throughout the entire semester but the group project brought me to a 79.4 and he wasn't willing to round up. If you ask him a question, he will answer you back with another question???He is a weird grader Pls don't take him.
