Easy on the eyes, and actually a really good teacher
She's really enthusiastic, its nice to have someone really concerned that every student gets each concept. she's really sweet
How shall i sum up Mrs. Lohse....she is the most condesending teacher i have ever met. Although, she does try to help you if you have a question, it is usally answered by slowed speach with a rude undertone coated with a smile. My advice is to not take her
She is Sarcastic ! This teacher will actually chuckle at the class as she stands in awe of their ignorance. She will start talking about important concepts without defining them first. She will use terms that know one knows as though we are all experts. Sh
NO NOT TAKE HER !

She is sarcastic and quick to smile and laugh at questions by students who don't understand. She didn't really explain what she was doing on the bored and often gave the response of "it came from the sky" to explain where she came up with her numbers and equations. Reccomeneded if your good at finding answers to your questions on your own.
I just cannot understand how anyone could not like Sherry. She is FANTASTIC! She is one of the best math teachers I've ever seen, and she tries so hard to help you understand. Yes, it is true that she has a dry sense of humor, but I personally found her hilarious! She's great! HIGHLY recommended!
I took Stats because I had to, and I suck at it. She understood that most of us didn't want to be there, that we didn't know what we were doing, and helped us out, but didn't give us all the answers. I thought she was fair, and with a lot of hard work I got an A.
Mrs Lohse is supper dupper. I had no chance in stat with a bad professor. take her class if you hate math, she might change your mind.
she is really good and some what easy to learn from and is very easy going
The homework and text book is online which not helpful at all. If you have a Mac computer then it is useless to take this class. The program doesn't work on your computer. She is helpful, but she doesn't explain the material well at all. Her tests are open note, but you still need to make sure you understand. I recommend that you don't take her.
ummm....sherry lohse is a horrible teacher. she made this one disabled guy cry one time and then he never came back to class. i'm just saying, you were warned.
some guy did break down early in the semester but he was not disabled and she is not the one that made her cry. there seem to be a lot of fibs about her on here. she was a decent teacher. if you put a little effort in and actually payed attention in class then you could learn from her. if you dont then your screwed. i had her for calc 1
she a really easy teacher as long as u take notes!
she really easy as long as you take notes and pay attention!
so far so good i guess! i like how she uses the calculator for stats class! Ps: she is cute! :)
i don't know what people are talking about when they say she is a bad teacher. only people who don't pay attention and who don't take their schooling and lives seriously for that matter could be lost in her class. lazy people don't do well.if you don't put in the work, don't expect to pass her class, but if you do it is all rainbows and butterfly's
She is a nice person but she does not teach very well. I got an A on her class but I feel I didn't really understand the material very well. And I didn't feel comfortable to ask questions because she was humming all the time like if she was tired of teaching
Lohse got dinged here earlier for sarcasm, but I thought her as dry-witted with plenty of self-deprecation. If she doesn't understand your question at first, she will spend time thinking about it & get back to you. Burnt out? I think so. But be pushy: don't leave until your question is answered. Last, SPEAK UP when she asks if you have questions!
I had he my first year of college and When a Friend of mine was murdered while infront of me I missed 4 classses(2weeks) of school due to truama and investigations and all she told me is to get the homework done as best as i can. she didnt excuse and of my absences, nor let me make up any missed assignments nor helped me catch up. result in in a F.
She's willing to come by your desk and help but I feel as though people take advantage of her niceness. I observed that many people have the same questions about their calculators or certain concepts and I feel as though her time could be better spent if she would just address the class instead of each individual.
Taking her was one of the biggest mistkaes I've made this semester. Seriously...Maybe because my class is dead at 9 in the morning but she doesn't do her part on her teaching. Her way of teaching isn't the best and the homework being online doesn't make it any easier.
Can't believe some people think she's great! I went to every class, love school, am not a teenager, and I hated her! I spent more hours in the math lab than anything else! She does NOT like to help and degrades you if you ask. She has a snotty personality and hates her job! If you take her, be prepared to get outside help! She's useless!
She is a pretty good teacher. Her tests are pretty straigh forward. Sometimes she teaches fast, but is happy to go over it again.
Not too helpful. Does lecture pretty straight forward & clear in explanations, but she is also a bit..abrasive.. full of herself? She does degrade students for asking questions. She will go around room & offer help, but again when 1/2 the class is lost, it'd be more helpful to review as a class. Plan to get help elsewhere & deal with bad ATTITUDE!
She doesn't follow the text. She was sick ALOT, was behind in her lecturing and we ALL paid for it. Her lecturs are NOT clear, assignments were given all at once after her illness, that was not fair to us as students. She trys to be funny and she is not! Very underminding when speaking. Asking for assistants, she doesn't hear what you have to say.
Please don't take her if you don't intuitively get and enjoy math. Ive noticed people who understand Math tend to excel in her class, but the majority of the people get ridiculed and belittled by her. She's inpatient, rude, snobby and at times a bad teacher. She can be nice outside of class, she carries the attitude that she doesn't like her job.
When she explains something, she explains it then explains something else that contradicts what she first explained. When asking questions she gets annoyed with the students and rolls her eyes. RUDE.
Cool person. Bad teacher.
I highly suggest that you DO NOT take this teacher if math isn't your forte. Many people dropped the class and unless you have a friend in the class who knows their stuff, you're pretty much on your own. She makes you feel really stupid when asking questions and will refer to the math center if you don't get the material. She teaches really fast.
took Trig and Stats with Lohse and completely loved it! she is one of the best math instructors i have ever had (and there rnt many of those) was hoping to take her Calc 1 class but am unable to. She explains the concepts in a way that helps you understand so much more easily. if you have questions, go to office hrs. highly recommend!
Luckily math comes very easy to me and I was able to figure it out later on my own because in response to her her lectures i often found myself thinking "huh, what the H is happening?". she would go really fast and not really explain what she was doing. her quizzes were soo simple, tests were harder and seemed diff than we were used to seeing.
Nice lady but she is NOT a good teacher. If math is not you subject to take her. Lucky for me i was pretty good at math and passed it with a B-
She is not helpful at all. She goes too fast and barely explains things. Taking her class, you will spend a lot of time with study buddies outside of class or in the math lab. She covers all the necessary topics. Although I got a high grade, her teaching skills are poor. Get ready to teach yourself some calculus.

Hands down best math teacher I've had in a LONG time! Extremely helpful and wants you to understand. Uses MyMathLab for homework.
Nice teacher goes quick sometimes and has good amount of notes. She teaches exactly what is on the exams. Take notes, study and you'll end up with good grade
She is the best calculus teacher I have ever taken. She makes the hardest subjects crystal clear. I once hated Calc but she makes it seem possible and I am currently passing.
Nice Lady. Bad Teacher. I took her class for Stats barely passed. Made a mistake taking her Trig. class. She is even worse at teaching this course. Recommend: Villa, Fried, or Elligson
Nice BUT unhelpful. Poor grading because she never gives your work back so you don't even know your grades. Misgraded my test .. had an F but corrected her and got a C .. unfair grading because another student got a better grade but the students work wasn't anywhere better than mines, so I was confused.. Wanted to petition but couldn't
HORRIBLE TEACHER. Very SARCASTIC! She tries to make her students SOUND and FEEL stupid! Has a BAD ATTITUDE and thinks she is better than everyone. On top of that, her teaching is just down right poor. I would not recommend her at all!!!!!! HORRIBLE. JUST PLAIN HORRIBLE.
Worse instructor I've ever had. Not helpful and discriminatory. unless you are I've of her top students then be prepared for her to make you feel stupid and unimportant.Didn't even explain things that were mandatory for the class. I might have to take this class again but I'm sure as Heck not taking it with her again!
I was very excited for this class prior to having her as a teacher. She doesn't really teach at all though like other online teachers have. She expects you to just do the homework and figure it out as you go. The tests are also nothing like the homework. I may not pass this class and I would NOT retake it with her.
Redesign Algebra rocks! I thought I hated math but this was great. You have to do the work, but Mrs. Lohse will do everything to help you succeed if you try. I'm actually looking forward to Math 94.
Took her redesign class for math 90, and loved it! This class allows you to work at your own pace, which means you must be self-motivated to get the assignments done. The workload is decent, and she is always willing to help with any questions!
Lohse is a fabulous professor, I love her redesign course! She goes out of her way to help her students, and is always willing to answer questions. As long as you put in the effort and complete all of the assignments, you will do well in the class. I wish she was teaching pre-calculus next semester!
Good teacher and helpful, but only 3 tests during the semester which account for a majority of grade in class. No wiggle room grade wise even if all homework/quizzes are completed with a good grade. I'm terrible at math in general and dropped her class feeling disappointed and discouraged.
Amazing class if you put in the hard work and love math
worse teacher I ever had. horrible. do not take her
Your grade relies mostly on the 3 tests you take so make sure you do good on each one. She means well and wants you to learn the concepts however, you will have to understand the concepts yourself. This class is the type of class where you have to teach yourself the material so if you're not strong in math DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS
The lecture, tests, and assignments are all online. There is Loshe and a tutor waiting to help if you have a question. I completely suck in math but the online was really easy. No distractions and not alot of hw. Dont have to show up but its participation points. If you mess up on a question for a test you talk to her and she give you more credit.
Online Stats is hard, but there is plenty of material to help. Videos by the book author and instructor, power points, etc... Instructor always answered my emails right away, even met me outside campus on my lunchbreak. Definitely goes out of her way to help you succeed, but you need to do the work. Pay careful attention to the discussion boards.
A math class online is difficult - but, she gave a small "Online stats is hard!" bonus at the end of the semester. That said, most of the lectures were by the textbook author and clear. Her lectures? Totally confusing. I had to YouTube clearer lecturers to get concepts. I got an A, but it was unnecessarily difficult, and MyMathLab is awful. Beware.
I took the hybrid course and she lets you work ahead, but if you work too far ahead she may not have materials or tests ready for you yet. You will be assigned a computer and will sit at it listening to tutorials and doing everything via MyMathLab. She is there when you need help, but you need to ask. She doesn't bother going around helping.
She is a good professor!!! Very helpful and a good grader
She can explain well and is good at grading
I took the redesigned class, and it was more of an online class that you had to physically show up for. I recommend taking it online instead of taking the redesigned class. There's a good amount of HW and test. She did help those who needed it and had a fair grading system.
She is the worst teacher I have ever had. I have to agree with some of the previous submission about her. She is extremely sarcastic, and has an amazing way of making you feel like crap about not knowing the material. Even when you ask for help, she seems uninterested. I highly recommend that you take another instructor for math.
Hardest class you can take especially since shes a very tough grader, half the class would get c's on the tests every time. Material hard to get and if you asks too many questions on it she gets frustrated easily and makes you feel bad for asking for help. In class work involves group work at times so don't miss class or you might miss work.
She moved too quickly and wouldn't go back if we didn't understand something. Also didn't explain things very well. At one point we even had to do a "group quiz" and LITERALLY gave me & my partner (& most the class) an F for "cheating" cause we had the same answers. Isn't the point of a group project to do the work together and get the same answer?
Professor Lohse is a wonderful professor, despite what students say. If you pay attention in class and participate in class, then the tests shouldn't be too bad. Most, if not all, of what you need to learn for the exams are taught in class. No need to do extra work out of class, show up, take notes, and you'll do great in the class.
Youtube will be a good friend. Stay on top of the work and you should be fine
Lohse is a very tough grader! She moves way too fast and if you ask her a question shes seem to become very annoyed so it was pretty difficult to even learn anything in her class. I definitely would not recommend taking her.
Relies too much on OLI expecting us to learn from there. Her lectures are way too fast. Gets annoyed when people ask questions. Multiple people are failing her quizzes, as explained by her. She asks the class what she could do to improve the grades, but when given ideas, she turns them down. Makes things more confusing. HARD grader.
Her lectures made no sense and when anyone tried to ask a question she got mad. She gave so much attitude to all of the students. She didn't actually teach us but relied on OLI to help us learn when in reality that didn't help either. I DO NOT recommend at all!
Hard to follow her lectures. When students ask clarifying questions she seems to get irritated which is hard for the student. Also she relies on OLI for learning key information but doesnt go into it during class. Her pace is fast and if you cant keep up you are basically left in the dust. Cov-19 only added another layer of adversity.
Has you rely on OLI Explains but not in depth Has stated you are expected to come in with understanding Respectful, but when it comes to Statistics there needs to be explanations of how to complete things, and that is what is missing.
Not sure how I got an A 90% to the last point. I don't how to describe this class. BE extremely disciplined and complete the modules. It will be really hard as there is too much irrelevant reading and it's annoying. No late work!! Then the tests will be like those modules. The labs are easy if you paid attention. Assume the professor doesn't exist.
You will literally have to teach yourself in this class. All material learned is through OLI modules on your own. Zoom meetings are mandatory, but she does not lecture or teach during them. You just do breakout rooms for group work every time, with students who are just as confused as you. She is nice and willing to help, but I wish she would teach
You really need to pay attention. Attendance is necessary. No lectures just discussions. Youre responsible for your own teaching. Very tough grader. A lot of reading through modules.
This class is very difficult because you are teaching yourself the material. The teacher does not teach the lessons during mandatory lectures that are VERY important to attend. I tutored a girl from another stats class. She passed with B+ and I got C+ because my stats teacher was a harsh grader . Very rude and sarcastic lady.
She doesn't allow extra credit and there are two tests (minus the final) that is worth 20% each. If I were you, I wouldn't take this class at all. I even took the
Professor relies on you to learn through OLI Modules doesn't really go over the material other than in zoom. Would assign lecture videos that weren't as helpful to me. During zoom, she goes over the material expecting you to know everything. Nice professor but not a lot of connection with the students. Pretty hard subject to learn.
Ms. Lohse cares about student success. Offers extra credit, office hours, and lots of tutoring. You will get out of the class what you put into it. However you will learn all material thru OLI modules and zoom "lectures" will solely be for group work. If she did Zoom lectures, it would be easier to pass. Don't skip class/HW or she will call you out
This class will be extremely difficult if you don't know how to teach yourself or be able to pay attention for long periods of time. Tests are basically your whole grade so if you fail the tests, it's hard to make it up.
I would recommend this class to people who have the time and discipline to sit down and do work for many gruesome hours every other day. If you have a life outside of college, this class is not for you. If you need to take stats, take any other teacher. Sherry Lohse is very particular about how she wants stats problems to be solved.
I took Math-232 during the summer, so there was a lot to learn over a short period of time. However, the instructions for the class are clear and the content load is manageable. Prof Lohse has great recordings that teaches the material step-by-step, and tests are just like the homework. I recommend this class if you're capable of keeping on track
DO NOT TAKE!!!
Do not take this professor! Had a group chat full of students say she was one of the worst professors they've ever had. Heavily relies on OLI Modules and is barely there to assist you. Has anger issues so beware of that! 10/10 would never take again. Horrible teaching methods and should honestly not be teaching any college classes.
Took the asynchronous stats class because it was the only one offered. Not extremely difficult but you will have to put in work. She is kind of nitpicky when it comes to showing work a certain way but is always offered help if needed. A lot of the class was based in 3 tests and oli modules help pad the grade. Lectures can be kind of long sometimes.
I took the synchronous version, it relies heavily on a 2 different programs. Which we are not taught how to use. Her lecture consists of going over a worksheet of new material, calling on students to answer and if you answer wrong or ask a question in general she gets very upset and will reply in a very sarcastic manner the rest is group work.
Lectures consist of reviewing new material by solving it with little explanation, often skipping important examples. Homework load is somewhat heavy but not terribly difficult. Pop quizzes are open note at least but can be tricky. However, the exams are very difficult and amount for most of your grade I believe 85%, so beware.
