Great math teacher. She goes over everything in great detail. I will def. take Calc. with her
Very well educated and good at teaching math. If you study/do homework, you'll do well.
One of the best and toughest math teachers. She is very helpful and loves all topics she teaches. You must be willing to put a bit of effort, but you will leave knowing your math.
Take her for any class you can! She is a great teacher. She will work with you if you are having personal issues. She is more than willing to help you during office hours. She does expect you to do your homework(gasp), but this is college after all. But if you study you will do very well her class:)
What a PROFESSIONAL! Willing to go the extra mile for any explanation. Thorough testing but easy after provided with concise reviews and formula sheets. Only complaint is that buying the book *seemed* like a waste of money. Very friendly and easy to get along with person.
If you do your homework and go to class <gasp> you CAN'T fail. She is so good at explaining stats that I never needed to go to her office or get extra help. Her final exam is such a small percent of the grade, that you have to totaly bomb it to get a lower class grade. Got a B and slacked a little.
I've been in Sippel's classes (MAC 2311 & MAC 1147), and I must say her teaching style is very, very good. She makes sure to do a little -- but fast -- review of yesterday's material because she knows most students won't. At times she's a little fast, but other than that, an excellent professor.
AWESOME INSTRUCTOR!
The very best math teacher I have ever had.
Sippel is a former military programmer. Her math knowledge is uncanny for being at hcc. her teaching style allows for the class to proceed together. she will re-explain as needed. weekly/bi-weekly quizes so she knows where the class stands. you have to show up to pass. very professional, very good. she loves her job and it shows.
Sippel shows no mercy. You can try very hard, know your math and still not do well b/c she throws you curveballs on tests and quizzes. Got A's in all prior math classes but hers.
She's awesome, though strict about how you write and translate your math on paper...but it is beneficial in reducing errors. She knows her stuff!!
She is a great teacher. Stay up to date, pop quizes. Provides formulas, easy if you paid attention. Never collected homework. Easy project, just has many steps to make sure you know what you are doing. Counts off for each little mistake though, make sure you pay attention to every detail she mentions. (ex. $ in $400 or gal in 5 gal)
Without a doubt, she is the best math teacher i've had.
Great teacher. Knows how to teach the material very will. Will prepare you very well for the tests.
Without a doubt, the best math Professor I've ever had! Clear, lucid, funny, willing to go the extra step and use visual examples and props to explain concepts. AWESOME! Only complaint: I could have gone for some MORE CANDAH! :)
THE BEST MATH TEACHER EVER!!!i hated math untill i got to her class. she makes the subject interesting. although some students say she's hard, is not true if u take good notes n do your homework. she makes the class fun, eventhough is math
Mrs sipple is the BEST TEACHER I EVeR HAD! i hated math before i got to her class, and i ended up liking it. She motivates you to learn and will help you as much as possible. She is not hard; you just have to do your homework and go to class
MRS SIPPEL IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great teacher, quizes give you a heads up on how you are going to do on the test.
She is the best math teacher I have every had. I regret that I dropped her (I took Calc&trig and thought it was too fast paced). I was getting A's and B's in her class but it was hard to keep up with my other classes. She helped understand how to do world problem better. At first I hated it but it got easier. I have Totten now. He is an ok teacher.
this lady is very full of herself. if you work hard enough you just might still fail her class take another teacher
She is a very good teacher, but she expects hard work. Very clear with what she is teaching and is very enthusiastic. I plan on taking her pre-calc/trig class in the summer. I would definately recommend her to anyone!!
Great teacher!! She is hard but I learned alot in her class. She made it fun. Shape, Center and ..... Spread. SHe gives out quizzes and projects that help with you grade. I finally understand what a Type one error is!!
This class is so easy. She is funny, and entertaining, so even as a person who doesn't like the subject, it's still interesting. Quizzes are take-home, tests are easy if you pay attention. Homework isn't necessary - she gives it, but I don't have to do any. It's easy to understand. Show up or read the textbook, and you'll pass.
She is brilliant and I love her. I wished she was teaching Calc II. She teaches you everything you need to know and has office hours and I used them! If I just wasn't so lazy with homework I would have gotten easily an A. Take this if you want to learn (I mean...duh we're in school for learning...)
Probably the best math teacher I've ever had. If you can't catch on to what she teaches it's your own fault.
Mrs. Sippel is a consummate professional as well as a wonderful person. She builds mathematical concepts in people or aren't mathematically orientated. She is crystal clear and genuinely cares about the developement of her students. I missed 4 days of class and she took 2 hours of her time to help me get caught up. Best teacher I've ever had.
She is a good professor. She knows her subjet. But she makes too many comments about overweigh people and statistics,to the point that it can make you feel uncomfortable. If you need to get out of the class in the middle of it she will have a tamtrum.Do not be late under any circumstances. Her test are long.Do not forget the units, she is very picky
learned a whole lots in class, she is picky but she lets you know what she expects. Very upbeat and quizzes are take home and you will do good in this class if you pay attention and seek her during office hours for help. Got an A.
Great teacher...if you go to class, pay attention, and do your work you will do fine...
I learned a lot in STA! If you take your time to do your take home quizzes, do example problems from the outline sheet, and hw.. you can pass with an A. I got an A. She's smart, upbeat, and helpful! I love her. The projects are fast & easy to do! TAKE HER! :)
Overall she is always there to help you and explains it all but she is way too picky and does not grade fairly. I am an honors student and for the first time failed a class and it was this one. I did all my homework and still didn't do well. She gives a lot of quiz and goes very fast in class.
Great teacher, easy to understand, and for the most part she is very helpful. BUT, she is extremely sarcastic, UNNECESSARILY!!!! It doesn't that she is a bit neurotic either!!!!!!
Very good teacher. Makes class fun and interesting. Personally I didn't like her note packets and sometimes it's hard to follow what she's doing. She should make homework mandatory. Overall I would take her again for sure
Very lively, keeps you awake. Will happily answer your questions. Explains things with an easy way to understand them. Very organized.
Amazing!! One of those teachers that have a love for what they do and her office hours are always open so if you need some more one on one it is there! Her test are on the things taught in class. The teacher to take for Calc!!
EASY A
This class is Amazing, just pay attention and you will do fine.
Good teacher, She has online videos of her showing each step of each problem in her packet. Do the packet before class and basically you can just sit back and relax. Its not easy but if you are unsure of how to do something she will help you with good office hours. Its up to you!
Im her ss irn more than i had ever learned. Shes very nice ans simple as long as u do the homework and come to class you will get an A
I can think of a lot of reasons I should've really disliked calculus, but I didn't! Professor Sippel understands her students and gives them the boost they need to get where they're going. She doesn't just make calculus easier; she makes it interactive with in-class demonstrations. Good friends with Prof. Quin. Excellent teacher, excellent class!
Ms. Sippel is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I switched to her class the very last day of add and drop based on these scores, knowing that if i didn't like I couldn't drop. But I am so happy I did! Got an A! She's super helpful and will answer your EVERY Question! MUST Attend to keep up and DO online homework to get grade but She's VERY Lenient and WORTH IT!
Prof. Sippel made Statistics a very fun class. She is clear on her expectations and instructs interactively. Prior to attending---I had NO desire to learn statistics, but after taking her class I now see why stats is such a useful class. I would definitely take her again!
She is awesome! She explains everything in detail but simple enough to understand. She's also high energy which is great to keep the class from getting boring. I would highly recommend her.
THIS IS THE BEST MATH PROFESSOR EVER. She makes you like math even if you hate it. just do your homework and you'll get an A.
This professor makes calculus easy to understand. The class is very complex and there are a lot of formulas to learn but she is extremely great at explaining how to work through problems. No extra credit is provided so you really have to work for your grade. It's not an easy class so you have to put effort into it. Quizzes are take home. Grade A
She is the best teacher I ever had! With the way she explained the materials, I don't even need to study and still got A on all my test. She is perfect, perfect, and perfect!
Do yourself a favor. Don't take her class.
Sippel has a professional presentation. But that is the deception. She isn't very fair in her testing. She doesn't lecture on the material you will be tested on. She assigns hours and hours of homework that doesn't count for very much in your over all final grade. Worst prof I've had at HCC.
She is honestly the best teacher I ever had in math. I been struggling through so much. But she really understands and try to help you. If you visit office hour, she WILL help. Take the time. It not a Easy class. And you got to work for your grade. So if you try, you will get a good grade. Honestly, she is the best you can ever ask for. So take her!
She is great! she explains everything, and likes students who does homework and is involved in the class. The best Math teacher!!!! Hands down
Mediocre lecture...Tests are based on her whims and don't follow the material in the note packet or in MathXL
Sippel's poor attitude comes out in her lecture. She seems to have a huge chip on her shoulder. I wouldn't recommend her class to anyone.
She is very clear and prints out the notes for the entire semester.
Her stats class was really not that hard. She gave plenty of opportunity to get an A in her class. I really like her note packet and it helps with learning the material. She gives you the formulas for the tests and her take home quiz is a good way to study for the test. I would take her class again and highly recommend her!
I took her on recommendation. Big mistake.
I would NEVER recommend her to anyone.
Class attendance and daily homework assignments are a must. She grades fairly, and clearly states what she'll take points off for ahead of time. The quizzes are mandatory and are precursors to tests. Doing well on quizzes means doing well on tests. Calc is no joke, especially for engineering majors. Come to class on time and be on point.
The best math teacher EVER. Of course she gives homework, this is college. She gives a take home quiz every couple of sections, and it helps soooo much. She can be strict on notation, but that is only to help you. Anyone who complains about this teacher probably is not a good student, and just wants to have a teacher hold their hand.
She gives a packet of all the notes and problems that you work in class. She helped me for hours in her office, until I got it. BEST TEACHER EVER!!!!!!!
GREAT teacher. Don't listen to the people writing the negative reviews for they are probably the lazy students who were never committed to learning in the first place. Study hard and do the HW and you will get an A.
Sippel was one of the best teachers tjat i've had, especially in math. I hated math until i took her class, she explains material clear and thoroughly and she takes her time to help if you don't understand. Ask questions and study i passed her class with an A. I highly recommend her, especially if you wanna pass
OMG she's the best!!! She gives out take home quiz which are NOT long or hard. She cares about homework and attendance. I would take it again with her. oh and if you're lucky you'd a SI with the class as well.
Her class is great, she provides a textbook of her own that u can buy at the book store. Hw is extremely light. Gives take home quizzes, she is very picky for her take homes, she will mark all over your paper but wont always deduct points, just gives you an idea of whats expected for test. test are 5 tf & the rest work out by yourselfshow work.
Wouldn't recommend to miss more than a couple of lectures even if the example videos are on blackboard. I only missed one class but did not affect me at all, probably because I'm a nerd in math. If you are like that too, you don't even need to study for tests, because I don't and I have a 98100 (cause stupid mistakes). The best Mac prof. so far
Big Mistake...I had straight A's before taking her...
She's great! best math teacher I've had... you will need to study of course but she won't give something unexpected in the test. She doesn't like texting and she will stop the class to call out the texters! she has plenty of office hours and you're welcomed any time. She will give you take home quizzes which affects your grade. would recommend
Phenomenal teacher. She knows her stuff. Very clear with what she expects. You can't expect an easy A in a math class, and you have to put the work in, period. That said, she will help you every step of the way, and you WILL learn the material. She definitely makes sure you know your stuff when you leave.
I saved Statistics class for last because everyone I know told me horror stories. Well, I actually love the class! Formulas are explained throughly and formula sheets are provided for all tests. I was worried because I missed a class, but it really didn't matter because Professor Sippel has pre-printed notes for every lecture and makes it very easy
Smart and awesome person.
Very clear cut teaching & explanations of mathematical concepts, makes it easy to understand and apply. On exams, she gives credit for showing your work even if the final answer isn't correct, which is great. As long as you keep up with and do the homework, the class itself is very manageable.
Amazing ! She makes statistics very easy to understand . Homework is due on My Math Lab every Sunday, and is usually one to three sections. She is super clear on assignments and test. All quizzes are take home quizzes . Just don't be late to class or be on your phone. Definitely would take her again !!!!!
She is easily my favorite math teacher of all time. The class is challenging, but she really, really cares about her students. She is so funny, too. Absolutely brilliant.
Attendance is important, tests are weighed heavily on your grade, everything else (homework, quiz, projects) are about 20% weight. Quizzes are take-home and necessary for understanding standards set for the test. Homework is necessary, and if you're not at the recommended average(80%), you'll be reminded to study. Minimize interruptions, attention!
So many people in my class are not fond of this professor. She assigns TONS of homework. Although I got the right answers for her quiz, she marked off points because I didn't do it EXACTLY to her standards. She always goes past her time. She will call you out for using the restroom, coming in late, or not completing the hw. She is very rude.
Professor Sippel doesn't count attendance as a grade but she does use it for reference if a student complains about certain grades and she'll see if the student is struggling or just not showing up. Class consists of homework on mystatlab has due dates but has multiple attempts, 3 tests, 6 take home quizzes(drops 1), final can replace lowest test
Awesome teacher. Very straight forward and if you actually go to class and study the homework you will be good. It's pretty simple stuff if you pay attention and do what she asks on the exams! Most people went wrong when they would forget to put units on their answers when she literally said it every day not to forget units. Just pay attention.
She is an amazing professor. Once you slack off its down the hill. She teaches so much in a hour and 15min. and hate to waste time. She goes along and does hundreds of practice examples and she always review materials from previous day . There are three exams and a final. Final can replace lowest test score which saved my grade. Tests are hard.
Full disclosure, I like Math. Calculus was fun. Prof. Sippel made it even better with her structured, step by step lectures. The lectures are also all available in video so you can reference them at home. TONS of homework, but you have to practice math to get it. Also, only 10% late penalty up to final (so clutch) The quizzes preview tests, do them
prof sippel is by far the best math teacher you could ever ask for- she is a bit of a stickler for notation but she is also very fair in her grading- she is attentive and really cares for her students- I would recommend taking her for every math class you can
Love her. Definitely a great trig professor, I would take her again in a heartbeat. Everything was very well explained even though I was half asleep every (9am) class. I was surprised at some of the lowish grades I got on some tests, but it was usually due to careless typical math mistakes. She is a stickler for proper notation!!
Prof Sippel was by far one of the best math professors I have ever taken. She is very clear in teaching and easy to follow along. Yes she can be strict at times, but overall she's awesome and I would take her again in a heartbeat
Great teacher! Wish I coulda taken her for Calc II! Makes understanding concepts easy and will help you in a way that YOU need if you're not getting it. Lenient with quizzes and extra credit, it's more imported that you understand the material.
No extra credit but all quizzes are 'take home'. Do every homework and you will pass since they can help boost your final grade. Her SI, Audrey, is an amazing tutor and tries working with the students schedules along with her own school schedule. No book but have to buy an online code. Her material is all printable and is only 5$.
Im reallllllly bad at math and I thought I was going to hate stats class but prof sippel made it so clear to understand. Every class lecture flew by (I took an 8 am) and she requires her printed note pack ($5) so writing is very minimal. One thing about her is, participation matters a lot! she likes to get her class involved in the material.
Professor Sippel is hands down THE BEST trig professor ever! I came into trig thinking it would be super difficult but she thoroughly explains everything step by step and makes sure her students understand the concepts. Make sure you do the homework and reviews online for better practice and you will ace the exams. My all time favorite professor!
Professor Sippel was an amazing teacher. She was caring, and really wants us to excel. She has 4 exams including the final, and the final will replace the lowest test grade as well as count. Her notes she advises to buy are super helpful and are very easy to understand. Dont do homework, prob wont pass. I would ABSOLUTELY take her again!
She is a tough grader, but it is well worth it. I took her for Calc I, and I was very prepared for Calc II. She is clear in her instruction and doesnt move on until everyone gets it. You def need her for Calc I.
HCC is lucky to have this professor. I have always sucked at math but her teaching style is as smooth a ice, she has mastered her craft. I felt like she made things so easy to understand for everyone. She is also pretty funny, and she cares about the students. Best Math teacher @ HCC. A real gem.
Great professor. Expects you to show up and do the work, but will reward you if you do. Felt very prepared for every exam.
She expects you to have access to a printer and a scanner just to upload notes for credit and before you take an exam
Sippel's class was easily the highlight of my week. She is fair, tough, incredibly caring, and a very no BS kind of person. She's intense - fair warning. She moves fast in class, talks even faster but is a very engaging person who might change your perspective on math entirely. Do your homework, study hard, hang in there. It'll be worth it.
I learned so much from this professor, she made Stats actually make sense to me... A feat that should not go unnoticed
I learned so much from this professor. She was patient and I appreciated her diligence in helping us all understand the coursework.
I am terrible at math. Absolutely awful at it, and Professor Sippel did the impossible. Not only did she get me to LIKE math but she made it incredibly easy to understand. Do the homework. Go to class. Her lectures fly by!
Took calculus 1 with her, her video lectures are amazing, and she reminds what's important to everyone on announcement. Honestly, I wouldn't take her again. Long homework after every lesson. She's a tough grader. Her test is very very tough, questions can be tricky, you need to put a lot of times to study to do good.
If you want to be fully prepared for Calc II then this is the professor you need to take for Calc I. Exams are only 6 questions but very tough grader. Use the quiz solution videos to study for the exams. They are basically identical.
She is a great professor! She does not include stuff on the test that she never taught about herself, so you know you will have learned everything. Exams are hard, make sure you study. She provided very helpful material for each exam. Her review packets and formula sheets are AMAZING and I used them every single day for homework and studying.
Professor Sippel is one of the best professors at HCC, she cares about her students and is willing to go beyond what is expected in order to help students succeed. She assigns quizzes which are similar to the exams and makes solution videos for each quiz & exam. If you attend class and do what is expected then you should be fine. Highly recommend!
Although a nice lady, her online MAC 2311 class is easily the hardest class I've ever taken. As a 4.0 student it shocked me how ridiculously difficult this class was. Expect EXTREMELY difficult "show your work test", she's SUPER TOUGH grader, a ton of homework and studying. I'll never take this class again. I had to withdraw to save my GPA.
I usually do not struggle with math, but the professor found a way to make simple concepts convoluted and overly involved. With her be prepared to be confused and spend many unprofitable hours studying. I would not recommend this teacher to my worst enemy and hope whoever reads this finds another school to enroll in if there are no other options.
professor sippel is amazing. yes there is a decent amount of homework but its all on the computer and easy to use, she has her own specific note packet and formula sheets and tables that are SUPER helpful. she can be a tough grader but as long as you try you will pass, 4 tests in total but nothing she hasnt taught to us. great professor!
Your notes are graded in red pen; You can get a C on a quiz without getting a question wrong; You will spend around 20 hours a week between doing homework and studying. You will learn Calculus the hard way and you'll be good at it but it'll come at the cost of anything else you have scheduled.
Don't take this class. She will make it impossible for you to pass I only took her because she had good ratings, but after taking her course I had to drop the class. Test based off "show your work" even if you have the right answer its wrong if you didn't work the questions out the way she wants it.
Although professor sippel does have office hours it was impossible for me to do well in her class. There's 1 quiz almost each week and both quizzes and test are based of show your work. Test are 5-7 question. Which makes it extremely difficult to pass she is a tough grader for that reason I had to withdrawal. Really hard class in my opinion.
For anyone shocked/complaining about work load, it's a FIVE credit course. If you didn't walk into this class understanding there would be a heavy workload, that's on you. There's a lot of homework/quizzes, yes it's show your work, but you can still get partial points if you mess up somewhere. Better than a 0. At least she cares and is available.
She is the most passive aggressive teacher I have ever had. Lectures and notes dont match the homework so I always ended up teaching myself half the lessons. Tests weigh very heavily toward your overall grade and the only extra credit opportunity was five points toward the final exam. Only take her if you want to struggle.
Just simply Horrible. I never had such a bad professor like that. She ruined my 4.0.
Professor Sippel is great, she is very enthusiastic about the subject of calculus, and she is the best lecturer I have ever met. Calculus is a subject that is known for being very difficult, I feel she made it very manageable. I enjoyed going to class. You aren't graded on attendance, but I wouldn't dare missing even one day of lecture.
Professor Sippel is the kind of professor that can make someone who hates math, begin to appreciate it. Highly recommended.
