all the guys in my class are in love with her. Nice.

Great prof.

She is amazing as a teacher, shes gorgeous, im completely owned by her. I had winston and the guy sucked, I hated psych but now I like it, and I like what I see when I go to class.
she is the best professor I have ever had! she has got all the potential to become the best professor nationally as well as internationally. wishing her all the best from the bottom of my heart!
Honestly if you think her class is hard you shouldnt be in university! She is soo helpful and nice, online notes, easy exams! Very friendly and personable. Excellent proff relates material to "real life".
great lectures, explains well, marks fairly, overall great!
Be prepared for these kinds of exam questions: a)blah, b)blooh, c)blak, d)a and b only, e)all of the above.....also, it wouldn't hurt for her to learn english, let ye be warned....
Wow I cannot believe anyone has anything bad to say. Interesting/informative lectures, what more could you want? If you go to class and pay attention you will do well on the exams. And making comments on her clothes? She is VERY well-dressed and u
She is really HOT and nice but she doesn't understand english very well... and she refuses to have anyone literate proofread her exams. It is impossible to tell what her questions mean because they are worded so akwardly! She is aware but won't fix it!
Might as well not go because she doesn't seem to care about us all that much. Attempts to make herself look good....whatever.
FIX THE DAMN MICROPHONE ALREADY! I don't know why she refuses to get that mic fixed that acts up EVERY day, then complain that she's uncomfortable using the one attatched to her desk. Don't test us on material that we can't hear you say..or understand!
Here's a hint! If you give a final exam to students, you actually have to bring an exam for them to write. Oh yeah, and show up on time for it.
Great proff, many people on this site are bitter in life because they dont know how to show up for class, or follow simple instructions. Her lectures are structured, and if you just um.... READ THE BOOK and STOP TALKING in class, you will do fine.. jeesh!
shes a great professor, and shes soo easy, oh god i cant believe how people here think shes hard, her class IS BASIC, you woudl be stupid not to know what she was talking about, becuase its common sense!
She is one of the best profs I have ever had. She makes an effort to make her lectures interesting and her exams are totally fair. She reallyc cares about her students. And on top of all that, she's beautiful.
Unfairly targeted by unhappy students - as a BSc major sitting in a psyc class, I had absolutely no problems with her accent, her material, or her tests. Tests were always fair, she took time to address 'issues', and I came out of the course with an A. Always very helpful, honest.
I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT RACISM STILL EXISTS IN CANADA. YEAH, SHE WASN'T BORN HERE AND DOESN'T HAVE A CAKER ACCENT: LIKE MORE THAN HALF OF CANADIANS TODAY, GET USED TO IT. SHE IS SO SMART AND SO HELPFUL. IF ALL PROFS WERE LIKE HER, THERE WOULD BE NO BAD REVIEWS ON THIS SITE. CHEERS, SABA!
Great prof, class is common sense, she knows her stuff, tells you exacly what is going to be on the exams. Good examples. Great class to raise your average, but still interesting.
posts notes online so you dont need to go to class
Her lectures were very boring, she didnt explain things well. And how come during every exam, when one person coughed...all of a sudden all the other 399 students in war mem coughed? That was so annoying!
bad prof..useless course
her lectures were usually quite interesting and very well organized. she explained concepts using examples and her midterm reviews were very helpful. overall, a great prof.
good prof in general, very easy course.. just show up and shut up and youll get an A
If you think she's not a good prof or that she's hard...you're dumb. Go to college...I don't know how you got into university. GREAT prof and so easy.
this is strange. If I'm dumb because I think she's not a good prof then how come the class average is only 70%?not 85% or 90%?? does this mean we are all dumb on average?? interesting suggestion you have brought up.:)colleges won't accept me just because they don't want me to study uselss crap lthis
First, a class average of 70% is VERY good for a big university class. Class averages of 85% and 90% are unrealistic. Once you get used to the accent she is a good prof. She explains things and makes class interesting. Maybe focuses too much on experiments and studies conducted. Midterms are easy.
have u ever heared a university course that doesn't do course evaluation?.well.this is the one.she is a good person but focus too much on expriment stuff.no such things as how to apply in real world situation. for non psyc students..u can just buy the texbook and read it. prof winston is much better
"colleges won't accept me just because they don't want me to study uselss crap lthis" umm...what???
the truth is there are too many hypocrites on this campus.there will always be students dislike certain courses no matter the prof is good or bad. there's a difference between opinion and insults. calling people dumb and stupid and making insult remarks "going to college" shows how shallow u r.
not a bad prof. her voice seems to be too low. can not hear at the back. she didn't put the pp slides up before class so can't really know what she will tlak about before hand, which doesn't do a lot of good to study her lecture material cause she went things fast
I am no longer at this university, but her class is the only one that I still remember concepts from due to the experimental references. VERY organized, informative lectures with interesting examples.
hot teacher. my new crush... good examples... straight forward lectures... not TOO inundative, but she gets her own ideas across
Worst Prof ever, into herself, no clear direction, goes all over the place.
good stuff
She makes this class very interesting. She talks about a lot of cool studies and differences between cultures. This is a pretty general psych course that everyone should take for some background. We watch cool videos too (like the world's best commercials). She provides an AMAZING exam review the lecture before the exam. Exams are all multiple choi
She is an amazing professor. She lectures very well and her class was very intresting. Most people came to class because she is such a good prof.
Wonderful prof...her presentation skills are great, and she's pretty funny in class. Exams were a little tough (I thought) but overall she's the best prof i've had.
AMAZING prof. Everyone should take. Made lectures really fun. Kinda hard midterms, but that's Saba for ya. Amazing.
my only complaint is that she has an old school headmaster streak in her. i had to defer my exam and when i went to download the powerpoint lectures they were gone and she said 'well you should have copied them down already'. thanks. i needed that.
Great lecturer. Exams were not that hard. Go to class (especially the exam review sessions, which are fantastic) and read the textbook because she tests on both.
horrible, u cant understand her and if u dont go to class ur lost. it was an okay class but if u hate it when you cant undertsand the prof's through their accents dont take this class
she's a great prof, and straightforward exam just lots of material
No Comments
I liked her as a teacher she was easy going but didn't take crap. She was also understanding with clicker malfunctions (because they are crap). Oh yea.. HOT
makes class soo interesting. Asks for opinions and participation. shows interesting/helpful videos. Multiple choice tests. Go to class and read the text and you'll do fine!
Such a great prof, extremely interesting, extremely hot. Just read the textbook and you'll do great.
Not challenging enough. Lectures, workload, marking significantly easier than other 2nd year courses. People are unfair to criticise her accent. I think she makes everything TOO clear, ie. obvious. Her outfits can be kinda trailer trash, and she seems to favor the boys in the class.
Best prof I've had so far, also VERY easy to look at!!! She takes pride in her students outside of class. :)
GREAT teacher, she made her lectures so much fun to go to,theyre interesting/educational/worth going to.her midterms and finals are fair. and lastly but most importantly, shes probably the best looking teacher ive had in 3 years!!
i love her and i don't care what anyone says. she's awesome.
too hot to concentrate;) khelya maqubool!!!
Amazing teacher. Makes the course interesting and fun, and isn't on a mission to fail students. People who complain about her accent obviously aren't in computer science... Oh, and she's smokin!
Great Prof!!! Makes social psychology fun!
A-mazing...
Amazing prof. She always kept class interesting!
Awesome prof, funny and easy to listen to!
A fantastic professor and class ! She's very good at making the class engaging and the content was very interesting for Social Psych.
Loved her!!
Saba kept class interesting by engaging the class. She was available for help whenever you needed, and the multiple assignments made it easy to get a good grade.
Not a big fan. I was really excited for this class. We had met and chatted before, but I don't like her actually in lecture. The way she addressed the unit on self-esteem was insensitive (to the point where people were running out in tears and I was depressed for a week following) and also makes assumptions about gender, orientation, and SES.
Took this class because I needed it as a prereq for Psyc of Law. I absolutely love Safdar! She is amazing, I never missed a class. Engages with students and makes lectures fun! iClickers were used for 15% of final mark. Midterms relatively easy- and NO PAPER! Definitely recommend taking her class! Textbook isn't bad to read either!
Saba is an AMAZING professor- in fact, just the kind I was HOPING I would find when I started University! I don't understand the problem re: people commenting they couldn't understand her. Me (& my friends) had ZERO problems, so I have to assume that these people are either IDIOTS, or perhaps looking for something ELSE to blame for a poor grade!
She is an extremely hard grader! She marks hard and tests hard. If you're taking this course with her, expect to give all you've got. The course is very interesting, and Safdar may be a nice teacher, but this online course is HARD.
I felt like she spent most of class just expanding on common sense based theories, she took a couple minutes to explain a "bottle up and explode" metaphor which is already straight forward. I feel as though it's just pure regurgitation from the book yet every class is worth 1% of your mark due to quizzes. It's a bird class but it's so redundant.
in class quizzes are bonus - she literally gives you marks. read the textbook because she loves multiple choice for midterms and exams
As a science student taking this as an elective, I was thrown for a loop. She manages to cover next to nothing in lectures, making the textbook (coincidentally, the one she co-wrote) mandatory for a good grade. It wouldn't hurt if she laid off the feminism every once in a while, either. Might leave some more room for course content.
The exams for this course are based on 50% of lecture and 50% textbook material and are quite straight-forward. If you pay attention in class and read everything in the textbook you should do well.
In class and online quizzes are easy 100s to bump up your mark.
I LOVED this professor. She gave you many opportunities to boost your mark, whether it was in class clicker questions or super easy online quizzes. Very personable and hilarious as well. The midterms were not as easy but pretty fair as well. I would definitely take a class with her again!
Best. Prof. Hands down.
Great prof, really interesting to listen to, but she's tough with testing. If you write a scantron exam thinking you've got an 80 or 90, you'll probably get a 70.
Safdar is probably the most engaging professor I've ever had. Social Psych is probably the most difficult arts psych class you'll take because she does test on detail and her tests are long. If you put the work in, you'll do fine and her lectures are exemplary. I looked forward to her lectures, and she gets the class involved (and it's not cheesy!)
Overall one of the better profs I've had. Interesting to listen to and makes lectures go by quickly. She co-wrote the textbook so it goes well with the lecture material, but you really have to read and attend lectures if you want a chance on the midterm or final, since the questions are super specific.
I enjoyed her lectures, which was good because you have to go to them since there's iClicker quizzes. I found the midterm to be pretty tough. I did a lot of studying for it but only got a 70. She said the class average was a 61 - seems a bit low to me? Same deal for the final exam. The discussions and quizzes are easy and bump up your mark.
As a lecturer she is great, but she makes you spend big bucks for the course. There is a lot of reading and participation, and you will not do well on the exams unless you prepare well in advance.
Everything about the lecture contents and grading criterion are clearly stated. She has really interesting classes and a unique way of lecturing, I have always remembered what she told in class. Yes, you have to do the readings to ace the class because the exams are 50/50 lecture material and text. Nothing unusually expected from a student.
I was told that she's pretty good but apparently, that's not the case. I took this course online and regret taking it. The online quizzes were tricky and were only given 5 mins for 5 questions like what! The assignment was marked very harshly and I bombed it. I'd never wanna take any class with her again.
I'd not have her again as my prof. The course was quite interesting, but the prof is quite a tough marker. I wish I had a different prof.
The prof and the TAs weren't really helpful when it came to clearing the grades that you received. The content of the course is quite informative, but the prof expects way too much from you. She expects us to know all the 14 chapters with very deep details from the book including all the research results that most people won't remember.
Like most students, I took PSYCH 2310 DE course because I expected it to be easier than an in class course. It was not but I learnt a great deal. I ended up working harder than expected. I found the set up of the course to be engaging with clear instruction. I saw the TAs and the Prof once only during the exam and they seemed reasonable enough.
Safdar is stylish, gorgeous, fun, passionate, and unique. Her lectures are interesting, full and challenging. Her midterm was moderately difficult but fair.
Absolutely hilarious and her lectures are genuinely a fun time! Annoying because she makes you spend money on many things just to be able to pass the course, and there is A LOT of reading involved. Generally an interesting class but would not take her again just because of all the money/work you have to do just to pass
Honestly, she was a pretty great prof. The exam's were IF--AT which was great (if you don't know what that is, it's a scratch card thing that gives you a star if you get the right answer and you have three chances to find it or get a zero -- second scratch you get .5 and third, you get .25. I liked it.
Professor Safdar is amazing! Her course is very organized, as well as her lectures. IClicker questions so attendance is mandatory, but her class is very interesting and she is very engaging so you wont mind! Exams were extremely fair and assignments were as well. I would definately take her courses in the future!
Amazing prof, really engages with the class by preparing in class activities. If you show up and complete the in class quizzes they're very easy and will boost your grade. Fair midterm and final
Awesome Lectures, very interesting material and a sense of humour. She made class fun and interesting by implementing surprise tasks to start off some of the lectures as well as here lecture slides are easy to follow. Overall great prof, who delivers her lectures effectively.
Although this course is definitely one that you really have to work hard in, Professor Safdar always has a smile on her face during lecture. She is always willing to help. There are quizzes every class which help boost your grade. She makes lectures fun, interesting and, certainly something you will remember.
Safdar is amazing! She's friendly, gives amazing lectures, sometimes with interesting and surprising twists to help you understand the topics. She really loves teaching this class and is overall a happy, genuine and awesome person/professor. Both midterm and exams were fair, but read your text because the exams are 1/2 lecture and 1/2 textbook.
Professor Safdar is seriously my favourite professor of all time. She makes her lectures so engaging and really strives to make sure we understand the content. She is a very fair marker and the work load is not heavy. She has a quiz every class based on lecture material but she is such a good professor that I would have gone regardless.
Prof Safdar is an amazing instructor. Her lectures were always entertaining. She is very knowledgeable and passionate about what she teaches. She cares deeply about her students and wants them to succeed. The midterm/exam questions often had details from the textbook which was sometimes difficult but the textbook was interesting so not a big deal!
Amazing class followed by an amazing instructor! Lectures were always interesting and engaging. iClicker questions were easy as the material being tested was presented in the slide directly before the question. Used a scratch card for the midterm and final allowing multiple chances to receive a point for questions.
very focused on specific study results
I love psychology, but do NOT take online. Virtually no help/direction from prof, makes you buy the online version of the book with odd quizzes, she is the author so guessing shes cashing in. Discussion posts arent difficult, but unclear outlines & TA feedback is seldom helpful. Complete lack of compassion, denies religious holiday extensions.
Terrible for online course. No direction with course material at all, and very harsh grading even if you follow rubric, even if TA comment is good, the grade they give is harsh. The quizzes are terrible and hard to use.
Awful. She once requested a medical note from me after an emergency and then did not accept it and docked me late marks because I could not get a doctor's appointment for a week. I paid 20 dollars for it! She has zero compassion or filter for what she should consider compassionate grounds. Her online course is awful, you can't ask her for help.
She asked me to provide proof of medical emergency in the form of sending her a copy of my prescription since I can't get a note due to Covid, because a 5% discussion post was one day late. Her email responses were rude, implying I was a liar and I was not a serious student, she told me I was over reacting. Zero Compassion or respect for students.
If youre looking for an enjoyable class and easy grade, do not take this course. Took this DE and ended up dropping it. Grading was way too harsh. Quizzes were 4 questions in 4 minutes but the questions were confusing. Mandatory online textbook which the prof makes money off of, but the format of the textbook was annoying.
Prof. Safdar is not compassionate to any needs. Grading feedback from TAs in this class was not only downright rude and condescending, but when I took time to ask for clarification I was told to "look at the rubric". Expectations were not outlined and Safdar showed little interest in actually teaching. "Buy my textbook!" is the extent of her effort
I have never had a professor be so blatantly uninvolved. Just because it is online does not give an excuse to be absent from the course entirely. Just as a professor can tell when a student is not putting effort into the course, a student can tell when the professor is doing the same. You have to teach yourself from her own (required) textbook.
I have never experienced such a rude professor in my life. No compassion and complains about having to do her job.
Prof. Safdar and the TAs were very helpful. In fact, Safdar responded to all my emails within a few hours I sent them! :) The course was clear and the assignments were engaging and some of them even fun.
Safdar is a prof that is raved about in the psych community and she honestly let me down. For 5 years I heard nothing but good things about her. But with online she has been unavailable and seems uninterested. She has little compassion for students is extremely distant. Very disappointing
Incredibly disappointing. Absolutely no involvement whatsoever from this professor. And I mean zero. The entire course relies heavily on reading and regurgitating information from the textbook. Professor has no sympathy for students, and if you email her, she'll reply in a horribly condescending tone.
While Safdar was not involved the course was very fair. The textbook work was manageable and the quizzes force you to engage in the course. 40% of the grade was discussion posts (helps engage in the content and was fun! - easy 90% @ 40% of grade). I wouldn't listen to anything under a rating of 3, one of the better classes I've taken.
Not involved and if you email, prof does not seem to care. Too much work and 0 consideration for the pandemic. Get ready to teach yourself, be forced to participate in discussions a minimum of 3 days a week, and drown in a textbook.
I heard really good things about this prof.. However, my experience was different. I had PSYC 2310 with her. We read her textbook cover to cover. Miss thing told us our final exam was chapters 6-13. We taught ourselves since she was a ghost. Not the worst class I've taken. At this point, I am just shocked and really disappointed.
This class felt like a big waste of time. She was not at all accommodating to students, when asked if we could either get more time or more questions for quizzes for a better chance, she very reluctantly added more time but not without making the class feel dum about it first. It was impossible to use the online text which didnt work most times.
I could see Safdar potentially being a good professor, but unfortunately I didn't experience that. Maybe it was due to the class becoming online, but she never seemed prepared, didn't care about students, and the test material was unjustified for the basic concepts of this course. She also did bare minimum? The textbook was the real professor.
Ive read a lot of good things about this prof, Im starting to think she wrote them about herself. Completely uninvolved, thinks shes all that and has no respect for students. Very rude person. You can get a good mark if you teach yourself. Its also a requirement to post discussions everyday during the week for full marks.
The real professor in this class was the textbook. She provides no type of real lecture or interactive experience. She also is not sympathetic towards students, which right now is all we sometimes need. Was the content overly difficult, no. However it would be a lot easier if we had additional help besides the textbook.
PSYC 2310 was a DE course but it was engaging and well-structured. The Zoom classes were vey helpful and interactive with the professor.
The course is well-structured, Prof. Safdar is very knowledgable, and the TAs are helpful. I learn more than I expected in this course.
Professor Safdar is very passionate about her work and is very reasonable with her assessments. Great professor and great class.
I am a psychology minor and I took this course in the summer to make my fall semester course load easier and an easy psychology course. I was wrong. I think that course can be enjoyable but not in DE and not with Professor Safdar. The courses consist of long readings, unjustified quizzes and discussions weekly. It was awful, wouldn't recommend.
As a former TA of this course, I found Professor Safdar to be controlling and disrespectful. She would benefit from humility and empathy and learning how to cultivate dialogue between parties.
Overall the professor was absent from the course, and the textbook became the professor. Every single page of the chapter is assigned, regardless of the importance. Quizzes have four questions which makes it hard to have any room for error. Does not clearly state the importance of the discussion post and make some sound optional when they are not.
Took this class over summer as a six week DE course The class overall was okay, her textbook has way too much experimental content that is tested on, rather than the big ideas overall. The quizzes were 4 questions and 8 minutes long, and tested on small details. Discussions were a bit personal for not knowing any one who you're taking to Overall ok
Communication between TAs and students was extremely poor. Further, all quizzes and test questions focused on extremely specific and vague information/studies. All regurgitation of information, instead of applying it. Do not take this course with Prof. Safdar. 0/10 - way too much content and no direction
Loved it. Readings were interesting, applicable to the real world. Two chapters, two quizzes (4 questions each), one discussion post, and two replies a week. Very manageable, the quizzes were open book and exact/similar questions were on the midterm. Pay attention to the experiments in the textbook which will provide you w a better understanding
Took this 6 weeks DE over the summer. The professor was not helpful and gave lackluster responses during emails. The TAs were some of the laziest I have ever seen. Every question was just "attend zoom meeting and ask", instead of providing actual help. Prof is nice but the content is way too broad and 1/2 is culturally based. Would not recommend...
Had to take this course because it was a requirement. She's not understanding at ALL for any accommodations and was surprised when the class almost failed the first midterm. Good luck emailing her because she was never helpful, basically telling me to figure it out by myself. You MUST show up to class because you get graded for in-class quizzes.
Easy to understand + interesting BUT this class is not set up for you to succeed Classes are mandatory EVEN IF YOU ARE SICK no recordings incomplete slides quiz every class towards your grade You MUST memorize the entire textbook. the content is not covered in class BUT is tested on the exams (final is on 8 chapters + class material + closed book)
I found her very engaging and learning was easy for me personally, if you show up to class then you will do fine in this course. The online quizzes were very simple, the discussion posts are worth 45%, so the slow buildup of your grade made it easy to get a decent grade. The midterm was rather difficult for me but still did well overall.
I took this class because it was required, and it was one of the worst classes I've taken. Safdar is difficult and unaccommodating. There are mandatory in-class quizzes that make missing class hellish. Don't email her, she's even worse over email, and will call people out midclass for making noise. Avoid her at all costs
i hate this course. genuinely such a boring, dull, miserable course. Im doing fine but the midterm/exam was heavily based on research studies so knowing terms is not enough. She doesnt explain things well and expects a lot out of her students. if you dont have to take this course DONT.
Safdar's lectures were quite engaging as she took the time to elaborate on each lecture topic, instead of just reading off of slides. Textbook readings could be content-heavy, but not too difficult to understand. Discussion activities on courselink count towards 45% of your final grade, so be sure to do them for an easy boost to your grade.
Prof Safdar was nice, however, the lecture slides had limited details and you HAD to attend class to get all of the information, and this information that was only said verbally and not present on the slides was tested on the exams, not fair. She also made someone pee in a cup...
I get why people are saying it is a hard class - you do need to study a lot. But don't be discouraged.. I loved the class and our prof and I'm going into the final exam with a 98. Just study for the exams as much as you can and go to class every day
Overall very interesting class with an enthusiastic prof. However this class requires quite a bit of effort. While the content is easy there is a lot of reading and attendance is mandatory if u want to do well because in class stuff is tested heavily and there are in class quizzes. I recommend not to take as a bird course unless you enjoy psych.
never take this unless it is required for you!!!! the TAs give vague feedback for discussions, the prof uses unethical experiments like peeing in a cup or removing your shirt to hug people in front of the lecture hall. the midterm average was a 58% in W24 and a 54% in F23, which is concerning. content is interesting sometimes, not worth taking.
I did enjoy this class, I found her lectures very interesting and engaging. But, the textbook can be very intricate and confusing. The readings are basically independent from lecture content, as she does not elaborate/explain much of anything. Very small details from the text came up on the midterm and the class average for the midterm was a 58%.
I LOVED having Saba as my professor for Cross-Cultural Psych, she is extremely knowledgable on the content and encourages open debate in class. She has given me so many reasons to respect her on another level. I normally am not one to enjoy mandatory in class participation but her in-class quizzes actually helped me learn the content. I love her.
Prof Safdar's lectures are engaging, but the class requires a lot of effort. Readings are key, as are attendance and discussion activities. unstuck AI can help with study prep, but be ready to put in the work.
Class isn't hard per se just requires a lot of effort. Weekly discussion posts are worth 45% of grade so not a bird course. Stuff mentioned in lecture isn't in the textbook but is tested on so going is mandatory and she does graded in class questions. Lectures are interesting and engaging. You can tell she is passionate about what she teaches.
Interesting lectures but in-class participation every lec is annoying. Attendance is basically mandatory, class content separate from textbook and midterm questions are strange and confusing with similar choice options. discussion posts and quizzes every week. Content isn't hard but exam averages are low, prof isn't bad but there's too much work.
Just a regular, easy psych course. She barely covers anything in the lecture but makes them mandatory with Clicker quizzes which is annoying for commuter students. READ THE TEXTBOOK. Everything in text is fair game for exams so keep up with it. The exams are straightforward if you do the work. She does cool demonstrations in class.
This prof had the most interesting lectures for social psych and it was the first time i was actually interested in a lecture. Her midterms were too hard if you studied and the weekly discussion posts werent too hard either. Also her outfits were so good everyday.
Safdar was really great! She explains concepts very well (and always had a fire fit on lol) I never wanted to skip a lecture because they were so engaging. Class attendance is mandatory for iclicker and reading the textbook is pretty important for the exams, but it doesn't feel too bad when the class is this interesting. TAKE THIS CLASS!
Hasn't taught one thing all semester to the point where a student thought a TA was the prof. EVERYTHING is self-taught through her self-made textbook. Quizzes are /4 x2 a week and discussion posts are x3 a week all on seperate days. 1/3 done the course and no marks released. There is no accommodation/flexibility whatsoever. No consideration at all.
Sometimes unnecessary points are deducted but the course is easy
Just awful. Do not waste your time.
Actually the worst prof ive ever had
Do not take 2310 online. There are two, "in-class" quizzes each week which use iClicker. A large amount of students are having difficulty getting iClicker working and Safdar has not made any effort to help students who haven't been able to write the quizzes. Also be prepared for weekly discussion assignments as well as plenty of required readings
1. have to spend extra for textbook and the iClicker app 2. Content heavy course, you have to read her textbook, attend class, plus there is weekly assignment. Some key terms that is required to be incorporated in the assignment are neither taught in class nor in the textbook. 3. Mandatory attendance. Two questions for each class you have to answer
Terribly incompetent prof that makes no effort to help her students. 40/80 questions from the first midterm are based on her $30 textbook which she personally profits from. This textbook is completely useless otherwise, and all of her lectures are just rambling through poorly crafted slides. Terrible grader and instructor. Avoid at all costs.
One of those profs with an ego that finds joy in students averaging 60% on a midterm. Not to mention very rude to students having technical issues and you have to purchase the textbook she wrote. I found there were terms in the midterm neither in lectures or textbook
This professor is so strict about proper grammar and spelling etc. in assignments but has incorrect grammar and spelling on literally ALL of her slides. This hypocrisy should not be acceptable. Sometimes her slides or quiz questions make absolutely no sense and she expects students to figure it out. Proofreading doesn't exist in her case.
A great course to take if you're willing to receive almost daily homework assignments and participate in a mandatory online class with up to two quizzes per class. Also, most assignments have a deadline of less than 24 hours to be completed, and marking is done by your peers, not the TAs or the professor. Mandatory textbook and iClicker app to buy.
People are so dramatic on here. I'm in fourth year and have taken many psych courses; she is definitely not a bad prof at all. The weekly assignments can be a bit annoying, but the course content is not challenging and the midterm isn't hard if you study. Don't trust the people on here - she's not nearly as bad as they make her seem.
I am not really sure what the person below me is on, but they are completely lying. This was a terrible course with a terrible professor. I think I would enjoy it more if there were a different professor. Perhaps one that doesn't hate teaching.
Prof Safdar should not teach online class .She is not tech savvy enough to handle the plethora of issues that come with her niche paid for application "I clicker" which are in lecture quizzes that you have little time to prepare for/answer. Often rude to students who have tech issues and will not elaborate on most topics. DO NOT LISTEN TO GLAZERS..
Do not be fooled by the course title. Social Psychology was NOT an easy class. Saba Safdar is very unempathetic towards her students (atleast in the DE class). Presence is mandatory to online lectures, and each contains two quizzes. Be ready for weekly assignments, difficult exams, and infinite readings
Quite literally the worst prof I've ever had she cares more about her kittens she's caring for than her students. If you're having an issue she pretty much responds with “not my problem you need to fix that yourself”
Safdar was not as bad as people made her out to be. She outlined a lot of great points, studies, and examples throughout her lectures. The course was very organized, TAs were helpful, and the rubrics were clear on assignment instructions. The material was very insightful and a lot can be applied to everyday life behaviours and ways of thinking.
Never rude, not understanding at all under any circumstances. Will not answer ANY questions during lecture, she literally ignores you and hopes you just disappear. Also very very weird she says some odd things during lectures
While Prof. Safdar is not as bad as many of the reviews say, I did find that her lecture content did not relate very well to assignments or tests. Regarding people calling her rude, I would say that it was about half-half with students being unreasonable and her being rude.
Safdar tends to belittle/degrade students who ask questions. Professor is proud of her exam/midterm averages being 50s-very low 60s. Exam questions are very difficult to read due to intense wordiness and spelling errors. I would never recommend anyone take this course. People who took it in summer say it is just as difficult and anxiety-inducing.
Professor uses iClicker every single lecture and is for grades, too many students each class had problems with it and lost grades and every time without fail Safdar would say it is not her problem. Safdar says some very uncomfortable/alarming things. Is quite rude to students, talks about her cats more than answers students' questions
I soon developed issues with Safdar's teaching approach. I never like it when professors make you buy their own textbook; spending 80 dollars on something they wrote seems sneaky. She also makes you purchase an add-on that never works. iClicker is a waste of time, and Safdar had no care in the world. She doesn't care about helping her students.
Absolutely incredible lectures, with so many opportunities to raise your grades. Quizzes and discussions are easy marks. My only complaint would be with her overreliance on AI grading. Safdar is not dismissive unless students are unengaged, close-minded, or ask questions that are answered in the course outline. Her class requires passionate effort.
