you won't learn anything from her in class. after 15min of same-tone level speaking your mind will drift off. she puts up slides which are exact copies of the book. and at times she doesn't know what the book is talking about. and the book is terrible!
Is extremely absent-minded and boring. Very monotone.

Very monotone voice indeed. Think B. Desai. Likes to jump from a topic to something mostly unrelated and then right back. Makes her already dull class hard to follow.
Sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!1
she's an ok teacher
She's alright, a little absent-minded and doesn't seem to look at the slides before class. She's a fair marker though.
This professor is teaching a hard class, i'll give her that. But she cant explain anything, always gets confused with her work and her examples take her the whole class to do... avoid if possible
bad bad
She is the female version of Desai. and if you dont know what I mean, she absolutely sucks!
Why does concordia need this kind of professor to teach student. In fact, She doesn't know how to teach. I do not how to say. after one term, I feel wast my time.she absolutely sucks!
teacher is fine when she follows the slides. as soon as she picks up the chalk to start a proof on the boards, chaos ensues. very approachable, though, and exams arent easy but they are very fair.
Bergler... blah... she never taught me anything... good luck if you are taking her...
She doesn't know how to teach and convey the material. You have to read and understand it all by your own.She is not prepared for the slides before the class and sometimes completely gets out of the topic. Biased in her views in almost every subject.Helpful if you need her to give you an appointment.Very proud of herself.

she doesnt know anything and she told us she failed as a teacher her exams were not that difficult but I dont know what the ideal answers for her question dont even try to take a course with this prof u will get nothing and lose alot
NEGATIVE: she is never prepared for with her slides, rarely shows up on time. takes 15mins of class time to setup clicker station. not clear in delivering. You might understand the material but you won't know how to answer the question properly. very proud of herself and hard to approach POSITIVE: nothing. drop the class before you fail
Terrible. Comes unprepared, late, can't answer any questions, and there is zero structure to her class. I only got a good grade (A) because I studied the book exclusively; I only went to class to answer her clicker questions for participation marks. You will fail if you rely on her; my friends did.
She is lazy and she wears her laziness with pride. Most of the time she rambles about useless stuff. On top of all that she insists on inflicting Prolog upon her students.
If it were not for her carelessness to leave the old solutions to the assignments from the previous semester on the old version of course website, NONE of us could have solved the assignments. You're completely on your own for this course, and she can't help you, even if she wants to! P.S. The book is also useless.
She says she teaches artificial intelligence but it seem as though her intelligence is artificial.(Do not take her)
Look, the course isn't easy. You WILL NOT DO WELL unless you actually READ the textbook and DO THE PRACTICE PROBLEMS AT THE BACK. This is in the outline. Do not depend on the prof or you will fail. She herself seems to struggle with the material, her lectures will leave you more confused than when you started. Don't miss out the 10% for clicker q's
Guys, this teacher is the WORST in the Concordia. teach nothing, even herself dosenot know wat is she is teaching. I dont want say this but it is ture the teacher really has syndrome Alzheimer's disease! She was drawing unicorn on her blackboard in her office when she is free. seeing is believing, go and take her class and office, trust your eyes.
terrible teacher, my GPA is over 4.0. I drop her course after first week. I didnot believe there is any terrible teacher before that week. Guys! be smart. She is that kind of teacher teaches nothing but thinks students are stupid. So she has to ruined students' gpa.
Bergler is a terrible teacher. She *MIGHT* know her stuff but she definitely doesn't know how to deliver it. Slides are filled with mistakes, not a single example on the blackboard, and won't even be able to answer a single of your question. COMP232 is a hard topic so pick any other teacher available. If you take her, go to class for clicker-Qs.
This class is a typical graduate oriented course. You can not know how to program, yet get very well in this course. The material at the high-level is not to hard to comprehend and apply. Ensure that you have a strong team for the project, for its worth a fair amount. Start working on it early. Don't worry about details, bigger picture.
knows the material very well doesn't care if you understand or not, just want to finish the material on time boring lectures You must read the book before you go to understand what she says Exams are Tricky and shallow (2 mistakes 6% whole grade) might mock you for a silly or wrong answer assignments are doable, excellent and instructive
She knows what she is doing. She might trick you that she does not see a hidden mistake you try to cover in your project, but be ready. She sees everything clearly, just like a falcon, do not over smart with this lady. I like this professor, she will teach you things for your future career, trust me folks.
She managed to make an easy class really confusing. She spends too much time explaining obvious things but skips the hard ones assuming we understand. Her test are multiple choice. midterm was 10 multiple choice questions. It's bs. I have a very high average but her way of teaching and assessments are not made to make people understand or pass.
Very poorly run course in general with typos everywhere. It doesn't help when your proffesor stands at the front with no idea of what's actually going on(despite having taught the course for decades). You're only going to class for the mandatory aspects. Course isn't hard if you think logically.
She is very tough at grading. And her tests are tricky, but rather short. She is an interesting person with interesting stories sometimes, but because she talks so much it is hard to follow her sometimes. Overall you do learn a great deal through the homework which is extremely heavy.
I'm sure she's a nice person and all but her classes are so incredibly boring... I was looking forward to AI as I head that it's very fun but due to a last minute switch with the profs and I ended up with her. Monologues in a monotonous voice that is both impossible to tune out and impossible to pay attention to. Babbles to no end with no point.
Material for this course is dry to begin with but she makes it even worse. Teaches with the slides that come with the book and she's pretty much reading the slides and sometimes uses different words. Never adds any extra info, so just focus on the projects which are easily doable if you have good coding experiences and you'll be fine
Verbose, goes on tangents. Some typos in her slides. That said, she's not as bad as others purport. Her lectures are still worthwhile despite the digressions. She covers the material thoroughly enough. Her quips towards students are kind of funny. She's no nonsense and will shut down a crappy a response from a student before they can finish.
Most likely the worst teacher you could have at Concordia, arguably worse than Probst. Uses someone else's slides to teach, often ends up confused about the content of those slides and just reads the content. Don't be surprised if she doesn't want to answer your questions. Penalizes groups for projects if less than the amount of people required.
Dr Bergler is just so hard to understand. She explains things in the most confusing way possible, and often stops mid-lecture to look at her slides and comment about them being confusing to her as well. She's loony, and it's true that there are unicorns all over her office. I know I'll avoid her in the future. I advise you do the same.
One of the worst teachers I've ever had the displeasure of having. Completely unapproachable. You can't ask questions in class because she will answer you with a condescending response and you'd never dare ask another question again. COMP232 is one of the hardest classes and if you don't understand the first time, she thinks you're simply stupid.
She is condescending, sarcastic and clearly shows you that you are inferior to her. She constantly gets confused by the lecture that she reads off the slides and by students questions. She will never help you boost your grade, only thing she will ever do is try to make you feel stupid, and guilty for wasting her time
Her class is more like philosophy and history class . I am not sure how good she is for other subject but I can clearly see that she is not interested in teaching NLP, keeps talking randomly and in last minute rushes , randomly keep uploading slides with guidance ... Dont' take her class unless you want to study all by yourself.
The teacher is extremely arrogant. She thinks she is right even when she is wrong. She rambles on about useless stuff. She is also very rude towards students for absolutely no reason. Exams with her make you feel like you're in the army (Over exaggerated rules like writing down questions on the exam sheet instead of simply raising your hand to ask)
Worst prof ever. Disrespectful, condescending, don't care about the students.
Worst teacher I've ever had. She does not care if you don't understand. She does not care if you pass. She does not care if she answers your question properly. She is aggressive and rude in class. Most students failed her midterm. If you MUST take this class then find another teacher. If she is your ONLY choice then believe in the curve.
Very knowledgeable, but not very polite. Be prepared to have several long assignments in which you write 20+ pages of hand-written math. Only a couple of questions from each assignment are graded, so it's unfair. The assignments and all the reading you must do to make up for mediocre lectures will take all your time. Pretty hard class, be warned.
Worst teacher EVER!
Worst teacher ever you would have during your undergrad. Long assignments which she grades you on only couple of questions. Completely unfair She is rude and do not care about you understanding the material. Her slides are full of mistakes and she doesn't care about fixing them. Her lectures are useless like herself. If you can take another teacher
Worst teacher ever. Rude and unfair. Her lectures are waste of time.
She is very unpleasant. Although she is extremely knowledgeable about what she teaches, she is horrendous at teaching it. Her slides are beyond useless and she hates answering questions in class. She always picks on students to answer her questions, which are usually too complex for where we are, and gets a kick when students cant answer.
Not a conventional class, but very instructive. Prior experience helps (logic, some artificial intelligence, state space search/graph exploration). Will show you that early computer science problems are still quite alive, and earlier languages are a valid choice for solving them. Keep an open mind and put in some work and you will do well.
I can't begin to do justice to the bad experience I had taking this course with Sabine. She is arrogant, rude, unhelpful -- even outright discouraging. Felt like she actually wants to see you fail. I ended up with a decent grade in the course but it had 0% to do with her. Doesn't prepare for lectures, slides full of mistakes, adversarial attitude.
I thought this teacher wouldn't be that bad, oh boy was I wrong. In our second class, this teacher picked a random student just because she made eye contact and forced her to do an algorithm in front of the class. She is also rude and does not like to answer question(she gets irritate by simple question ). Avoid this teacher at all cost!!!!
Is she hard? Yes. Is her humor off-brand? Yes as well. But taking 479 with her really cemented that she knows her stuff. Her exam may be hard, but she gives really good feedback on it if you take the time to review it with her. Don't let the bad reviews deter you from taking this class with her. You'll warm up to her teaching style.
She seems knowledgeable in her subject, but clearly she is NOT a good teacher. In class, she was rude to students who asked questions she considered obvious. She did not prepare her lectures and mostly skipped most of the slides (that were not hers), because she didnt want to explain them.
She is very fair for grades and assignments, first semester online and she split the first large project into 3 smaller projects, gave 24hr exams, and had Q&As. The chosen textbook was already a free resource as well. She would hang on to a person if they asked a question but often to go more in depth or have something to talk about in zoom.
Don't take her class unless you want to pay tuition and learn all by yourself. Her voice is like asmr in lecture, even if you sit in the first row, you can't hear clearly!
Arrogant and useless professor that only does the bare minimum. You will have to learn on your own
Avoid at all cost
Overall very poor instructor. Does not have a good teaching style. However, she knows her subject matter well. Frequently goes off topic in lecture. Was unable to complete a large amount of anticipated course content (although thankfully did not test for this missed content). Is frequently angry, borderline hostile. Unapproachable.
Bergler is more an "academic" than a "teacher" She's very knowledgeable on the subject but her delivery can be crude and somewhat disorganized; it's unforgiving to students that require guidance. If you are the type to figure things out by yourself, you will do well; otherwise, you'll hate her. My advice: read the material before her classes.
Assignments and projects are unclear. We had a month between the first and second project. She gave the second project and assignment combo two weeks before the end of the semester.
Absolutely one of the worst profs ever. Very arrogant and ignorant. She asks for feedback then decides to argue and fight back each of the feedback. We told her the TAs told us we're allowed to use Regex when we were not supposed to and she acts as if it is our fault for using it. Unclear and lots of miscommuncication Don't take her.
Teacher has a huge ego. All the assignments are unclear and even the midterm was unclear. She should care more about her students...
In the lecture she only reads the slides. For the midterms you have to understand the most important concepts and some important details. I would recommend reading the book chapter before the lecture. Grading in the projects is sometimes unfair because the requirements are not well defined and the communication between the prof and the TAs is poor.
Going to her lectures and paying attention is important if you want to do good in this class. It doesn't help that she isn't easy to follow and does not use many visual cues to assist her explanations. Exams are quite tough. Assignments are unclear. However, she is pretty helpful if you go to her office hours
I found she is a great teacher. She is strongly opinionated about the way she's doing stuff but great overall. She asks the class questions pretty often and encourages discussion. The only negative, there was not enough feedback on the assignments from TA's. It was difficult to know if the way I wrote proofs was correct.
I don't find her hard to understand, and she's actually quite a decent lecturer for COMP 232 (I find). She encourages in class participation and actually provides sufficient explanations. Grading of assignments is, however, incomprehensible since it seems random. Exams are ok.
Assignments very unclear, exams mostly trick questions.
Most people love or hate her. I'm somewhere in the middle. Lectures are by no means bad, and she's pretty funny. But I worked harder in this class that my other classes combined, sometimes. This is mostly due to somewhat vague and difficult assignments. Exams did have trick questions. Doesn't deserve her poor rating, but there are easier profs.
I took her class in 2019, I got an A+ in 232. She is a good lecturer. Personally, I don't think she's approachable or is that much of a caring person. But I very much enjoyed her class and learned a lot of useful things I am using during my PhD. Every lecture and tutorial was worth attending.
I think Prof. Bergler is great at teaching the material. Her slides are quite detailed and she asks a lot of questions during class to her students. Her exams can be tricky so you need to pay attention but by no means are they unfair. She deserves a much higher rating
She is kind of monotone but not the worst prof in the world. I did not find it to make a difference going to her lectures. Two midterms multiple choice and no final. She's surprisingly a very understanding prof if you reach out to her and the projects were fun to make. She's not the most dynamic lecturer, but the class was pretty easy.
Nice lady, in her defense she answers any question and she does ask if anyone has any questions consistently. However, i feel like she needs a break. Content is difficult to follow, she spends too much time on a proposition only for it to end up being wrong. Not going to her lectures made 0 diff. While nice and approachable, not worth IMO.
She should consider retirement. It is unclear why she is teaching NLA using materials that are outdated by 40 years.
Respectfully, she is old and forgetful, she literally forgot to bring enough exam copies for out midterm so it was postponed by a week. her lectures are useless and her attitude when responding to questions is sour. she occasionally spends like a whole class on literally one proposition... i think she needs a break. avoid
Avoid at all cost. The lectures are pretty useless and you're better off studying on your own. The midterm we had was a multiple choice, but there were tricky questions with tricky choices, plus there were several questions that weren't even shown in class or in any tutorial, so you had to be lucky and somehow seen it thanks to the textbook.
one of the worst teachers i have taken ever, her lectures are useless and she does not care if the class is failing. avoid at all costs, all the negative comments here are accurate, unless you're a genius, you will find this class hard
Avoid at all costs! Doesn't explain the material in appropriately, it's not an easy course. She forgot to get the correct amount of papers for our midterm. MCQ Midterm is really hard with and average of 50%, with around 3% only of students scoring above 78%. Useless Lectures, she sometimes realize that what she's explaining is wrong halfway!
not a great teacher at all, her way of teaching is undesirable for like 98% of students. lectures are useless its better if you dont show up, waste of time and extremely hard midterm, assignments are graded weirdly
Avoidd!!!!
terrible teacher, the only positive thing I could say about the lectures is if you have trouble sleeping, this class will help you
Professor Bergler seems lost in her notes, constantly updated her slide packages due to mistakes being in them. Shows up at the midterm with not enough papers for everyone... Overall she is accessible and wants the best but her method is a bit outdated as she doesn't provide training materials
Unfortunately, she did not serve. She does not want her students to use any electronics. If you ever do something that ticks her off, even if it's small, she will call you out and make you feel humiliated. She has numerous errors in her slides. She had to postpone the midterm because she did not have enough copies (like what?). Please avoid her!
really hard this course.
she is pretty much useless in class , goes on to yapping and yapping and barley explain anything and if you ask her a question either she would tell you to ask it in the form on moodle , give a very vague answer like : depends , or make you feel dump that you asked such a question , slides are just taken from the book and made worst , exams are vag
