Worst teacher i have ever had. Seems nice in the first month or 2 of class, don't be deceived. She does not explain well, marks VERY unfairly,& esn't even teach you what you need to know. Asks for definition, expects history.STUPID! Avoid her classes like the PLAGUE!Never disliked a teacher this much
Worst teacher ever. Started out fun and easy. Then turns to hell. HORRIBLE teacher. Worst teacher I ever had. Unfair, unapproachable, mean, hard marker and you dont learn a thing. She should be looked at by the administration. Dont take her! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
ABSOLUTELY WORST INSTRUCTOR EVER. I'VE BEEN AT KWANTLEN FOR MANY SEMESTERS, AND NOT SEEN ONE INSTRUCTOR WHO CAN EVEN CLOSELY MATCH HER LEVEL OF INCOMPETENCE. STAY AWAY OR YOU'LL REGRET IT. SOMEONE NEEDS TO REPORT HER TO ADMIN.
worst teacher ever.Period. No exagerations I doubt she will be around next semester so that wont be a problem. DONT TAKE HER...DONT TAKE HER...DONT TAKE HER...DONT TAKE HER...DONT TAKE HER! AGAIN I SAY...DONT...TAKE....HER!!!!!!! THIS IS YOUR WARNING!
I have no idea what these people are talking about. She taught everything clearly, using powerpoint, tells you what chapters in the text to read, tells you what is important. Very helpful during the labs if you ask her. I don't know what else these people want!!
WHAT WE PEOPLE WANT IS FOR HER TO UNDERSTAND THAT KWANTLEN IS NOT UNIV. OF ALBERTA...WE DO NOT HAVE A LARGE ANTHRO. DEPT....HER ESSAY WAS NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE BECAUSE KWANTLEN HARDLY HAS ANY ANTHRO....AND FURTHERMORE FORENSIC ANTHRO. JOURNALS...SHE'S NOT A BAD PERSON-JUST NEEDS TO LEARN KWANTLEN.
worse teacher ever. She thinks she is still in the university of alberta and exepects perfect english in her paper.she can fail u even if u have been doing great through out the semester b'coz of small mistakes in ur term paper. she is rude and unhelpful in the labs. leave her class if u r wise!!
She should be fired. I think all students should sign a paper to get her fired. Do it now. For future generations!
Worst teacher ever. When writing an inclass essay she marks so hard on spelling in grammar. How do u write a good essay in one hour three to four pages long. All she does is talk about herself and all the things she has done. So boring. She made an interesting class the worst class ever.
i was sooo looking forward to this class and it wasnt bad... at first. But Sabine was so unclear about everything, and constantly left us in confusion. Hellooo... this is an introductory course which means most of us dont know**** bout forensics yet, do ur job and teach us.... sloooow down.
Horrible Teacher, she shouldn't be teaching. She expects way too much and her marking is unfair. For example a final exam which was an essay on a crime scene she drew, where you could hardley see anything and we hadn't covered any of the things she wanted in it. Class average was very very low.
Great Prof, knows her forenics well. Not a hard marker, but expects you to know how to write in english. Very helpful if you ask for it. Nice person to talk to.

She loves to teach forensics anthropology. Shes passionate about what she does. Ya theres a bone exam but if u study its an easy A.It is not that bad...she really is a good teacher...shes not easy but shes not hard either...i would reccommend her cuz she makes the topic interesting with her stories.
I don't know why people put the negative comments in - yeah, it was a hard class but if you apply yourself, you will pass. I got a way better mark than I expected but only because I worked my butt off. Sabine is an excellent teacher. She knows what she is talking about and is always there to help. She is awesome.
I CANT BELEIVE SHE IS STILL TEACHING! WHAT A JOKE! PATHETIC JOKE!
I think shes a good teacher.. the only negitive is the essay
shes a good teacher.. not confusing or too hard, just an essay and a few tests, no final.
dont take her, shes always late to class and never available. her lab manuals aren't compatible with what we learn in class and the labs are basically useless and frusterating. bone test is easy though. really gay essay subject. SHE SHOULDNT BE TEACHING SHE SHOULD STILL BE IN THE FIELD!! very knowledgable but bad teacher
So lost on the essay we have to do. Can't find any books to do the research.
Her essay sucks big time!!!!!! but she is really helpful, and will spend lots of time helping you find material, and sources. Really relaxed on late papers. Easy going, Good teacher overall
We are not done the semester yet, but she is FAR from horrible. People on here made it sound like she was some tyrant. She knows her field very well. The class is interesting and you should not be afraid of her and her class. The essay may have been rough, but we were given the assignment a month in advance. Recommended
Sabine is a wonderful teacher and very passionate about her work. She is very knowledgable and easy going. Many complain about her essay, which ppl should just be open minded about.
The essay is not as hard as it is made out to be, the problem is not Sabine but the lack of Anth resources at Kwantlen. Something I think she will be taking into consideration in the future. She is very approachable and has extensive (helpful) knowledge in her subject area. Great teacher!
Tries to teach an English course instead of Forensics. Well versed in the topic, but far too tough on students when marking essays. Also holds a grudge and will reflect it in your participation mark.
I don't know what everyone is talking about on here! Sabine is aweful a guaranteed gpa drop. Do i need to say anything else! Worse ANTHRO PROF! QUIT LADY!!
She's a really good teacher! I dont know what every1 else is talking about. You just got to apply yourself, make sure you come to class and participate because that makes a big impact on your mark. Seriously she's easy!!!
she was a really easy teacher. the projects can be overwhelming at first, but fine once you get the hang of it. She is super helpful and goes around the class helping people with anything they have problems with. She makes the class fun, and it is really interesting studying skeletons. And the best bit of the whole class…. she has a candy jar!!!
Very nice prof., the bone test seems hard, but if you study, it's really easy.
Biological anthropology is an interesting course but Sabine makes you do a huge amount of work, which is fine, but marks like an Englisg Prof which can bring your great marks down, so I suggest anyone taking her in the future, always get her to proofread any paper you are haning in for her, as that will gaurantee success otherwise your screwed.
Only 1 Bibliography assignment, 1 essay and 2 tests!!! best of all no final!!! At first the class was very slow and boring (there was a whole buncha classes of just notes) but when you get onto examing the skeletons the class is very interesting. Very easy class I definately reccomend it!
Great class with a great instructor! Very interesting course lay out. Her experiences in the field and slide shows of some of her adventures were very eye opening. She was also very helpful when the class started working on the real human skeleton analysis.
Avoid this class if you are an upper level Engl student. While the content is interesting, the class is dry and she reads off powerpoint slides. She believes she is an Engl prof and will destroy your essay and make you conform to her writing style. Takes 8 weeks to return your papers - far too long IMO.
Horrible horrible professor. She expects way too much from an Intro class. Her exams are brutal and she desecrates the papers. Very rude and unapproachable, sarcastic and arrogant. Reads directly off her slides, goes way too fast and does not post her notes online. Makes things more complicated than they really are. AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS.
Very good prof. She is a hard marker for a first year class, but will help you if you ask. As for the essays if you email her a rough draft or an outline then she can give u comments
I would not recommend her. Expects way to much for students just coming out of highschool. Does not make her instructions clear, heck i taught myself everything.
wow, shes not as bad as everyone says she is. tests are easy if you study, looks at grammar more than anything in essays, lots of notes, but very helpful. easy marks. i would recommend her. she knows what shes talkin about

I thought she was a good techer, tough but fair. If you go to class and study you'll get a good mark.
Competent prof. Recommended +++ Sabine, if you're reading this, ignore the negative comments as they are coming from students who do not put the time and effort to do well. Keep up the good work :) P.S. I enjoyed your anth 1200 class very much!
nice prof, she gives out candy during every class. However, the Bone test is very difficult. fair marker.
A very nice lady. While the lectures can be a bit dry, the material is interesting and Sabine is always willing to provide extra help and is a fair marker. The second half of the class is more hand on and very interesting. I would recommend taking the class.
Another example of immature children writing reviews on professors. She does NOT rip essays apart and she is not difficult, arrogant or harsh whatsoever. Any negative comments on here are written by people who obviously think intro classes should be passable by 12 year olds. Sabine was a GREAT prof.
Good course. Nice teacher. Assingments are easy, if you actually try. Tests were reasonable, as long as you actually study. Sabine could be a bit short. Seemed like more of a quirk, than a teaching issue. Would recommend the class. :)
If you did the work she would mark you fairly. In class she was filled with nothing but love and she answered all your questions and was very helpful. She is one of three teachers I search for whenever I register for class.
She's fair marker if you actually study & do your work. Grammar is definately important. Although she can be a little dry, might be the topic, and sarcastic, but she tries her best to encourage people to learn & participate. Participation & questions are key factors. Grow up people!!
I am fresh out of highschool and I did very well in this class ,Sabine is a teacher who deserves to be given credit. I loved her quirky anthropology facts in the middle of stories. Assignments are too easy, I thought it would be harder in college... Laid-back on due dates and gives out candy during class.
Bad Prof. Can't make it to class on time, always has excuses for things not being done. Expects first year students to have a good understanding of material before hand. Fair enough marker, but read the questions very carefully - she's ambiguous. And on a personal note - very annoying to be taught by.
The exams were fairly difficult and the format was different than what she told us it would be (she said multiple choice, when really it was fill in the blank..). She also says that archaeology is the study of "garbage," which I found slightly offensive.
fair marker, study hard for the exams, easy paper. however, there is something about her that bothers me lol. other than that, its an interesting class
HATE THIS PROF!!!! I took her like 3 years ago and I will never forget her!! I hated her sooo much! She still makes my skin crawl! Brutal teacher! Just brutal! I was soooo stoked to take this class but she ruined it for me! Big time!
Not a bad prof, late to some classes though. There's a lot of writing in this class though. A few essays and a few test. Not that tough of a class, if u put effort in, u will definitely get higher than a B
Go to class, do your work, and stay off ur cellphone and you'll do great!
Great teacher, very helpful. is willing to help you understand material throughout the course. she is very upfront about her class expectations. she gives out a guideline before the test. study that and you should do fine
She's a good prof; knows her stuff. Very rude, but brutally honest about her expectations as well. 2 major exams and 3 major assignments. The assignments are hella easy; got A+ on all of them but make sure you study for the exams they're really difficult unless you study and go to every class. 2nd part of the course is much more interesting and fun
overall easy class, very helpful-especially on bone exam. Very interactive and unique class.
Sabine was great. She has a lot of office hours so you can always go talk to her for extra help. Show up to class and pay attention you should walk out with a B.
Quite an easy class. Test questions were simple and reasonable. Always in a good mood & willing to help. May sometimes appear somewhat defensive during lectures, but that could just be because she's passionate for her field. Class can get a bit boring at times, but show up and listen to her lectures attentively and scoring an A won't be very hard.
Essay was pretty easy, but she makes you redo it if it does not abide her "plagiarism" rules with deducted marks. In class quizzes&labs are easy&for participation. Final bone test is easy AS LONG AS YOU STUDY!! She's a good enough prof but needs an attitude adjustment. Not approachable&doesn't shy away from making you feel like an idiot.
Tests were fairly straight forward however there is a lot of material to study. Her study guide is mainly based from her notes although some terms were not in the notes or textbook. Article Critiques were such stupid assignments and the way it's explained on the assignment handout makes no sense. Must attend class to do well.
First of all the lectures are extremely boring and the very material is very dry. All we would do is sit and listen to her everyday. The Bone test is ridiculous and extremely difficult no matter how much u study. Tons of material to study n dont miss a class because you will miss out on a lot of notes. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU DONT LIKE STUDYIN
She is great at teaching but was not very clear on the writing assignment, she didnt explain how she wanted it formatted and all that. She docked alot of marks on my assignment. Overall good prof do take will learn alot of interesting stuff.
sabine was an awesome professor. she is very clear on how she wants things done and as long as you study you will do great especially the bone exam. I would definitely recommend her. anyone that has negative comment about her are probably the ones who don't try. although I missed many classes for the second half, I still managed to do pretty good
I LOVE LEARNING THE HUMAN SKELETON. honestly its awesome... next time you hurt your leg you'll be able to tell people what bone and exactly what part. I think its super cool being able to work with real skeletons and she does a great job trying to go through all of the bones in a short term. A lot to remember but interesting!
Sabine's test are quite hard and I find the study guides don't help a whole lot. Her labs are easy and mostly just participation. Theres a bonus 5% lab. She's a somewhat fair marker for essays. Interesting class. Pay attention, study, try and you'll do well.
First half of the class dealt with the textbook, second with bone identification. Had to do a paper and a test (easy if you study, but make sure you come to class because it has questions from the documentaries you watch in class). Second half was more difficult, and yes the bone test is brutal! She's a nice prof. Study those bones!!
I have a grudging respect for her. She clearly knows what she's talking about, but she can be strict (especially if you're obviously not paying attention). Her grading is tough, but there's always an understandable reason for what she docks marks for. Overall she wasn't bad, but if I had the choice I probably wouldn't take another class from her.
This is the second time I've taken Sabine, she's very passionate in her work & it can be seen. She's a tough marker, especially when it comes to the weekly labs, must be present tense and no informal English. The subject is interesting, but the lectures can be dry at 9:00am. There's one test which consists of everything and a final group project
Very interesting course although a depressing topic. Assignments are handed back right away and the grading is consistent. Super clear assignments. If you put effort in then you'll do well in this class. 25% of your grade is weekly journals just discussing how you're feeling about the weekly topics. Great prof!
She is such a great professor! She is difficult if you do not show up to class, because she gives so many easy marks that just requires you showing up to class. She cares so much about her students and is open to new and different opinions, and her lectures are always interesting and engaging. I would highly recommend her!
She is such a bad prof. Her lectures are extremely dry. I want to take bio anth but she is the only prof available. She is so bad, I hope she leaves Kwantlen or gets fired. Again, her lectures are EXTREMLlY DRY! Not inspirational at all. I will never take a class with her ever again. Most students didn't enjoy her class. She sucks without bounds.
Sabine is a lovely person. She is a fair marker and really takes other peoples opinions into consideration. This was a third year class and it was on the easier side. She also had all of the readings posted online so it was a textbook money saver. Pay lots of attention to format on essays - I've heard lots of people getting marks docked for this.
I found her to be a lot more friendly and lenient compared to the other professors at Kwantlen, Attendance is required to get a good grade for the lab portion as she gave daily quizzes. Her lecture exam was really easy but the lab exam was extremely difficult because of her marking and was worth double at 30% . Didn't use the textbook much.
This class was so interesting. Its hard not to pay attention to lectures since the content in the first half of the semester is so interesting. First midterm is based heavily on lectures. She is very nice and helpful if you see her during office hours. Bone test isn't as hard as you think it would be since u already know it due to the quizzes
This course is interesting, but I find the professor to be unbelievably rude to everyone. For a first year course she marks really hard and specific, the essay topic was difficult and the exams are so challenging. I enjoy the course content, but sadly I am not a fan of the professor.
if you care about ur GPA and dont need this class, DONT TAKE IT! the bone test is impossibly hard. unrealistic expectations. way too much information needed to be known for the exam, no matter how hard you study it'll never be enough!!!!
toke this course for extra credits and regretted every minute. lectures are heavy and boring at best. subject doesn't get heavy till the very end of the course. you're expected to learn all the bones in the body and more in three classes. final exam is EXTREMELY hard. dont need text book, and study lots for the quizzes.
Found the coursework relatively easy to grasp, although the subject is interesting, Sabine is one of the rudest profs I have ever had at kpu. Talks over you, will not answer your questions properly, contradicts herself during her lectures. She tells you some things will not be on the bone exam, then puts them on the exam.
The rudest professor I have ever had in the two years I have been at Kwantlen. You will get a terrible grade on your essay even if your classmate gave you a good edit grade & the bone exam had surprises that we didn't know. She was so rude to anyone in the class who asked a simple question. Avoid this professor at all costs!!! Beware a GPA sucker!
I took this course as an elective and was so excited for it but I was very disappointed by Sabine. She was very rude to people and an unfair marker. If you don't do well under pressure, the bone exam might be difficult for you no matter how hard you study for it. I recommend you save yourself and avoid taking this prof.
Sabine is very disrespectful to her students. Her lectures are unclear and she doesn't give enough time to complete labs. Her mannerisms are anxiety inducing and she is very very rude. I think this is a very interesting course, but I don't think Sabine should be teaching it.
Most higher year students have great admiration for her as she really knows her stuff. She is an incredibly HARSH grader and she will not pull-punches. She is more than willing to discuss progress with students and she is very understanding when it comes to a student's external struggles. Beware the Genocide Group Presentation- start prep early!
I had Sabine for many classes and she is one of toughest profs I've ever had. She is flexible when you see her for offices hours. My advice is study, ask questions, and try hard.
I found she made students feel too intimidated to approach her and ask questions. The lab exam is a bell ringer exam but she prepares you well for it. She demands her rules are followed even if it comes across rude. No phones, food or drinks during lab classes.
She gives you such a detailed outline for essays you just need to follow it. Beware of informal English and citations in essays. Do the work and participate. She gives extra credit on tests, and is a really nice grader. Some things get points taken off and others aren't a big deal, but to take it as a learning experience.
She talks down to students and feels she is superior. She contradicted herself in my paper telling me I need a para number for my citation so next paper I did and she told me that I was wrong for para numbers in citing. She also expects people to use the library for sources for everything but that's kind of tough to do right now considering COVID!
Sabine is a solid prof. I do like it but it is really tough. Her lectures are divided into PDF and many audios, and they are mostly heavy loaded. Lots of reading are required for preping her writing assignments. She allows a head-up lecture, which means she will open the future lectures for you if you want (unless it is right be4 exam week).
I took this class online. Sabine is really nice, explains every little detail. Theres quiz's every week and lab exercises which I enjoyed doing. It was first year class so we didnt had to memorize all the bones, only the major ones which she would highlight in her slides.
She knows what she's doing, very knowledgeable and respectable. She can be pretty blunt at times but that is just how she is. If you have social anxiety she might not be the best professor for you. If you can handle it you will learn a lot from her. We also get to handle real human bones which is a huge bonus to help learn the bones better.
Not happy with this prof
Material for this class requires certain dedication outside of class if you expect to have a decent grade. Professor Stratton helps by offering multiple resources to study with and provides guides on what to review which is highly encouraged to complete before exams. Emails sent asking for clarification are replied to within a day if not two.
She only lectures thrice, the rest are presentations via professionals (coroner, RCMP) & those are really interesting. Her 3 lectures are drawn out (takes 3 hours when it could take 30 mins). 10 min presentation (20%), essay 1 (15%), essay 2 (10%), 2 exams (20% each mult, short Ans, long Ans), participation (5%), journal comments (10%).
very hard class, but sabine makes it fun. get ready to read!
The material can be challenging, but Professor Stratton provides helpful resources. Attendance is mandatory, and the grading can be strict. For study prep, unstuck ai and the textbook are useful alongside the professor's guides.
