easy class

Lots of work, good class
Such a doll, the nicest lady you will ever meet. Explains the subject matter thoroughly, and uses great examples. One of the best teachers I've ever had.
If you don't know this material already you have to be mildly retarded...it is completely recycled from every other business class you should have had. Had 93.5% test average and got a 'C' because of attendance...if you are slow or enjoy going over material is an incredibly boring turtle pace, then take the class
Hard to understand, not a good teacher in my opinion, but the class is pretty easy if you go
Kind of has a temper
She can't teach well. She is hard to understand. Take with someone else.
Has an attitude
Was a pretty easy class. Just make sure you attend and pay attention to the notes and the tests will be pretty straightforward. She's also the funniest teacher i had that semester
I could understand her quite well. May be after all my years with foreign teachers I have gotten use to them. She is very slow at putting out the study guide. I recommend taking her class power point notes and reading the book and filling in her pp notes. I thought she was a good teacher. Compared to Brain Kovar (the worst teacher ever) who teaches
Has a temper, can't understand, and unfair. Offers other sections of the class more extra credit than others. Has unfair grading policy. Doesnt respond to emails or show up for office hours. Will curse at you in a different language. Take with someone else.
Class seems pretty easy--if you read the book and go to class you'll get an A without even having to take her final that is comprehensive. Might have noticed a slight temper, but she's European and obviously isn't used to having to put up with cell phones ringing, people acting obnoxiously etc. in class--and she shouldn't have to get used to it
Good teacher and good class, very easy and you don't have to take the final, boring material but still interesting
Doesn't show up to her office hours even when she emails you and tells you she will be there! Doesn't not allow any leniency when you are gone...even when you are gone for a family emergency. Does not communicate well at all. Puts in little effort to help students. Only tests given
If you don't get an A, you're an idiot. All you have to do is go to class. And she only gets mad when you 1) Don't come to class 2) Come to class late 3) Don't do the work you're supposed to.
Sabine Turnley is one of the worst teachers at K-state. She needs to go back to France, where shes from.
This is an easy class as long as you attend regularly. Don't need to buy the book, just print the slides and take good notes. She takes attendance for extra credit, which will really help out your grade. Final exam is optional.
great teacher and she not from france, like the idiot who rated her below says, he prolly dont like her cause he didnt go to class and get the free points!!! shes from belgium, and a great teacher!!!!
A very good teacher. Explain stuff very well. I called her at home many times and she was always helpful. If you go to class and pay attention you will do excellent. She rewards effort and doesn't put up with unprofessionalism and being late to class is not professional! You have to go to work in the real world so get up and get to class.
Sabine Turnley could possibly be the worst teacher in history! She is unfair and hard to understand. Take this class with someone else!
Would definitely recommend Sabine to anyone taking MANGT 420. She is from Belgium so she has a slight accent, but she knows that and often makes fun of herself because of it and it never gave me any trouble. You don't have to use textbook nor is there any homework. Attendance is not mandatory but if you go it's hard to not do well on her exams.
Her explanation is good, but her are exams EXTREMELY tricky and difficult, and for a class like this that is only memorization and 90% could be understood from the slides the exam is tooooooo hard. Her exams would be for a much higher class number. If u can take the class with anybody else, DO SO. She doesn't give any HW which focuses ur grade all
HARD. Everything seems commonsense until you get to the tests. I will admit I missed 3 or 4 classes but the tests are way too hard for the material she is lecturing. Not friendly, not helpful outside of class, way too hard for an introductory class. NOT recommended.
I could go on forever about how terrible she is as a teacher. She lurks over people during tests, grades the class with two options, fun class if you can put up with her. Her tests are like she tries to confuse you with alot of which is not true. look over the slides and go to class for extra credit usually on fridays and an a is not too hard
Completely and utterly horrible on ALL aspects of teaching. Personally, if you neglect to return e-mails and do not show up for office hours you should not be teaching. But, what really makes her horrible is that she does not teach Management. The only way to get a good grade is to memorize the material. I learned nothing. She's a complete joke.
She is nice, just super boring.
Great Professor. I'd recommend taking Mangt 420 with her. Anyone that says Turnley is too tough is probably a slacker. I didn't skip class, and pulled an A easily with minimal studying.
Extramely hard class. Speaking is very bad. You cannot understand the class content because of her speaking. Textbook is useless. But the final is almost not on the notes. I won't recommend to take Sabine's class.
I took this as a summer class and loved it. She has an accent (Belgian) but it is very easy to understand and those who can't are just looking to complain. There was almost no homework in the summer, and the tests were easy as long as you showed up and listened fairly well. If I were a business major, I would take another class from her.
I took this class spring 2012. As long as you take good notes in class it is VERY easy to get an A. If you plan on never attending class then don't bother taking it with her. All the tests are based on in class notes. She GIVES you test questions in class. If you don't like her then it's because you probably fail all of your classes.
Terrible overall. The other reviewers have it right that she's got a temper, that's no b.s. It's also true that she doesn't show up for office hours and is very hard to get a hold of. She's very boring as well during the slide lectures, often going into every minute detail. The best advice I could give is to take MGMT with someone else.
I really disliked this professor. She has an attitude problem, and gets angry at students. I hated her teaching style. I avidly attended class and studied, and would still do bad on the Exams. The exams consisted of very "grey area" questions, with all answers being very similar. Terrible teacher overall, and never once used the book.Avoid Turnley!
Took over the summer - thought it was a great class. Sabine was very nice and easy to understand, so apparently I had a freak class or something. She did mention how much she loved teaching us at the end. Easy class but fun to go to - do summer course if you can. Never used textbook though.
Sabine was teaching a lot of classes this semester, so there were times she got back to me days later, but if I emailed and reminded her she always responded. I think you'll get back as much as you put in. I did like the class as it's more application than regurgitation.
She is not clear on what she is teaching. Class seems as if it is common sense until test time. She tries to confuse you and makes all answers very similar. Her test contain unimportant information that she barely touches over in class. Do not recommend her.
Let me tell you what its ironic that this class is a 420 class because it makes you want to smoke a bunch of pot to try and null your mind down to the point where you could find meaning in what this lady is teaching. Im not sure who could of given her good ratings unless they were a sociology or psychology major who thought you learned from jargon.
Not a good teacher, helpless class. very mean to student. exam is hard.
She was the worst teacher of all time. Very boring
Very bad teacher. Test are from notes taken in class, not going will be a very big mistake. No book is used, little homework, one test is dropped
I never minded going to class. The material always seemed clear until test time. I always studied but never did very good. Do not buy the book for this class. Take this class with someone else.
Honestly one of the worst set up classes/ professors at KSU. DO NOT BUY TEXTBOOK. Homework is completely unrelated to any test material. Her lectures are painfully boring and tests are hard.
She is not a good teacher at all. Very hard to understand. You will not ever need to use the book. I disliked her very much. If you go to class, it will be easier to do better on the test but she does post the slides online. Awful teacher.
Great teacher, always eager to help and provide feedback. You will be working on group projects for a hefty portion of the semester. Textbook: No really necessary; got along just fine using Wikipedia and Online slides for test prep.
I couldn't trust what she said. Notes and book contradicted. She was late for class many times. Her questions were superfluous. She speaks good but not great english. Her test q's are things she says in lectures, likes to ask about unimportant details.
Tough class, never understood what she talked about.
She always speaks about obvious facts, and love to REPEAT it again and again. And when you are not focusing on those obvious facts, she would throw random exam materials so that you would feel bad about yourself for not listen to her boring story. Absolutely not helpful, or trying to be the least if she can. Super difficult test if bad note taking.
I went into this class thinking it would be a very easy class but to me it was the exact opposite. 80% of the grade are tests and her tests are all about asking stupid questions that you'll never use in life and she tries hard to trick you. She gets mad really easily and can be disrespectful to some students as well. You also never use the textbook
Lectures are pretty dry. Also she can be pretty rude to students.
Horrible class. Textbook is a waste of money - never once opened it. Lectures are very boring and dry. She also likes to ask exam questions over specific homework problems that nobody remembers. Class average for the first exam was a 63%. My advice is to take it with someone else. This class is way harder than it should be.
Lectures are boring despite her friendly, relatable personality. People are saying she's rude but I never saw that. Perhaps they don't get her European sense of humor. Slight accent, nothing bad. Much of the material is common sense. Presents material clearly, but occasionally goes into too much detail.
The class itself isn't very difficult, and the material is pretty basic. It feels like she goes out of her way to trick you on the exams. Don't bother buying the book, haven't opened it once.
Lectures are long and boring, not alot of homework but quite a few tests. Study more than u think u should
If you attend every lecture, the book is completely irrelevant, so pick your poison. She's pretty easy to understand, and the tests were pretty easy, just based off the lectures. I never opened my book, and it was a waste of money. It's not a very fun class, just a pretty standard lecture.
She was a good professor, however her tests are rather challenging if you don't study enough or specific enough.
Test over random stuff she says in class so you have to listen closely and will get upset if people don't participate in class
Material on tests can be found in the notes if you actually pay attention and take them. If you are in this course I would advise you to participate, it will make learning the material much easier. With this review then you should be able to do well on the exams.
her exams and project are tough . don't take with her .
Another amazing teacher. Attendance isn't mandatory but her exam material is strictly from lectures and videos in lecture so I would show up. She has a passion for teaching and it shows. Taking thorough notes will help for preparing for tests.
Do not recommend her class at all. You spend more time trying to understand her and pick through her lecture on what you actually need to take away since she likes to get off course ALOT! One of the reasons I am switching my major next semester.
Lectures are so easy, and content seems easy, then the tests are crazy hard, in class activities and homework are so easy.
Extremely fair. Two group projects that are not difficult at all. Class average was a 92% for both of them. I would say go to class, write down anything she says twice, and review those a few times before the exams. Exams mostly ask definition questions, and a 25 point essay at the end (25% of exam score). Lovely personality, charming, & caring
A decent teacher. You really have to pay attention in her class. You cant get all the info you need from just the slides. Taking notes is a must in this class. There is barely any homework. The tests can be a bit difficult. Overall she was a good teacher and I would take again. We didnt use the book and I bought it, dont buy it.
Pay attention in class and take detailed notes - the exams will be easy for you. You cannot just look at her slides and expect to pass - she covers more in class. Homework / in class activities are so easy it's a joke. Go in for office hours / talk to her after class because she will look at your notes and tell you if you missed anything important.
Tests are very in depth and she goes through powerpoint very fast. Her French accent isn't too bad but she gets off track very easily. Seems like a good person but her tests are really hard. I had to study 15+ hours for the cumulative final and only got an 88%. She does in class assignments on random days. Homework is all very easy. Boring!!
Would not take again. Language Barrier and the test material was nothing like the reviews she would give.
PowerPoint teacher and Youtube videos did most of the teaching.
Largest challenge is the language barrier, but the heartache comes from teaching ourselves through PowerPoint and YouTube video. Showing up to class will net you points on the test because the she is sure to ask unimportant, scripted questions during the videos that will show up on the test. I did poorly on the tests because of this then got a 96
Youtube literally taught our class. She gave test reviews and I would know that information, the test would come, and it was the opposite of the review. One of the worst professors I've had in the college of business, she is the only one that teaches a lot of the other business classes, this should change.
Attendance is not mandatory, however, she gives random assignments. She isn't highly respected because she doesn't respect the students. If "life" happens, she isn't understanding. One of the biggest things I look for in a professor is them trying to build a relationship with their students and understand that life happens, Sabine does not one bit.
Reads straight from powerpoints in lecture. She will take away your participation points if you aren't actively participating daily, even if you show up to class with 100% attendance.
Sabine is a nice person, but I did not enjoy her class. In my opinion she grades harder than most teachers in the college of business, which would be fine if her expectations are clear, but they never are. I found that I would always feel really good about test, assignments, case reports, etc but then my grade did not reflect it. I would avoid.
I was a straight A student through 3 years of college before her class. The tests were extremely difficult once we went to COVID online class. You can be at class everyday and unless you are actively participating you will get a bad participation score. I did not enjoy having her as my instructor.
Tests over the homework a LOT. make sure to do the homework(although there isn't much and its not that hard). Overall, the class is not hard. Tests are weirdly hard but as long as you prepare you will be okay.
Lots of in class points which helps grade. If you pay attention in class its an easy b. Tough to listen as it's heavy lecture and PowerPoints are posted online.
Really interesting and fun class. Just listen and participate in class and you'll get a good grade.
She reads straight from a PowerPoint but has regular in class assignments. Gives whatever grade she wants without any feedback on why. Her test often are confusing and hard to understand.
I took mangt 590 with professor Turnley and overall the class is fairly interesting. There are tons of in class assignments you must be there for, so dont plan to skip much. They were interesting though. The lectures are pretty boring and hard to pay attention to. Shes also extremely slow at responding to emails. The book is not necessary.
There is a large amount of material delivered over the semester, but it is broken up into manageable chunks. The class is structured around the case study approach so be prepared to make applications from the readings. Mrs. Turnley is incredibly personable, funny, and makes class enjoyable. There are two tests and they are pretty tough.
Took this class Fall of 2022. The exams make no sense grammatically, makes them very difficult. Participation and attendance matter because of the in-class assignments. We went online about 3/4 way through the semester. The online assignments were much harder than they would've been during class. Wouldn't take one of her classes again.
If I could give her a 0, I would. Worst professor ever taken at K-State and it is not remotely close. She sucks at everything and should consider making a career change to McDonald's. Simply cannot get worse than professor Turnley.
This class originally was in person then moved online as I believe her kid has some sort of cancer treatment occurring. If it was in person that may have been another story but this class is confusing. Questions aren't clearly worded, grading is odd, and her "lectures" are just reading the slides. Find another professor to take this class.
She is an unnecessarily tough grader but does not give an explanation for the given scores. She purposefully words assignments and exam questions so the answer can be easily confused. Exams are one question at a time, and you can not return to previous questions or skip ahead.
She does NOT respond to emails. Practically unreachable, and for an online course, that's pretty important. I signed up for the class in person and she moved it online (not preferred, but I didn't mind). She is unwilling to help students and refuses to release grades for an online FINAL I took over a week ago. Semester's long over and no grade yet.
Sabine's class was incredibly easy. If you read the book and watch the videos she provides, you will get likely a high A. All of her tests are super easy and straight from the textbook. She is engaging and will make sure you are succeeding in the class. Would definitely recommend.
Her syllabus will say one thing and she will do the complete opposite. I know professors can change it at anytime but when you have a absence verification because of medical reasons she doesn't even care to reply after she says no. It also states "email etiquette" yet hers is terrible. Definitely would never recommend.
The class was moved online due to personal reasons. Test were super confusing even if you take notes and watch the lectures. She is a tough grader on the case studies, and won't tell you why she took off points for something. You won't use the textbook until the last couple weeks of class.
I cannot believe I paid for this class. If you want an easy class to get an A you should sign up to this one. She just reads off the PowerPoint, so watching her lectures is not worth it. Just do the assignment and if she is in a good mood she'll give you full points, if she isn't, she'll deduct 1 or 2 points. This class was a joke
Sabine Turnley is a very nice teacher don't get me wrong, however, I have never been more unsatisfied in a class than this one. The teacher uses McGraw Hill and gives very little time for exams. McGraw Hill is by far one of the worst class resources ever invented. Drop this class if you are looking for an easy start into marketing.
Absolutely horrible. Genuinely couldn't have worse things to say. Goes on random tangents and we get off topic for 20 minutes. Has presentation slides of anywhere from 30-80 slides, we go over MAYBE 5 slides with 3 topics then she moves on to the next chapter. 10/10 no. do not take.
(8 week)This course was set-up so that total group projects takes up 50% of your grade, and most of your free time. With 3 additional partners, the course goes smoothy. However, there is no SafetyNet incase one of them decides to do absolutely nothing. Happened to me and it was a NIGHTMARE. The teacher herself is polite but very slow to grade work.
All on your own honestly.
She doesn't respond to emails, does not show up to office hours, and doesn't explain why she takes points off assignments. Never fully gets through a lecture and just moves on without explaining it and goes off course talking about things that will not be on our tests. All the tests have nothing to do with the study guides she puts out.
Do not take her class. You will do an insane amount of homework every week. Textbook is provided at no additional cost. Lectures are mandatory. She offers an extra credit about once a week if you attend her lecture. Can be hard to understand sometimes. The tests are extremely difficult. She is not usually well informed on the material she teaches.
