Sabra is awesome! She has power points which she posts on canvas, the tests are't too hard, but be prepared for some pop quizzes. She is so nice and understanding. She allows test corrections to get half credit back, and many opportunities for extra credit. We only had 2 article summaries and 3 assignments, it was really easy.
Make sure that you actually purchase the textbook. You refer to it frequently. Her lectures are engaging, and she makes the environment comfortable enough to ask questions, unlike some professors. Her lectures are thorough and the material that she teaches is truly on her exams. Overall Sabra is a fantastic professor. I highly recommend her class.
Sabra is a horrible teacher. It seems like she's always in a bad mood. The average grades on test in her classes was a 42% and that's because everything she teaches in class isn't on the tests. Luckly, she has a lot of extra credit opportunities. If it weren't for the extra credit I would of failed that class.
Sabra was an amazing instructor. She is very understanding! I barley used my book and still passed with a B. She also allows students to correct exams after the exam using the power points she used in her lectures and you can use internet and your book. I would take this again 100%. Best instructor ever.
overall good, but if you are not there then you won't pass. Also, read and review the materials every night. Tests are super difficult.
Very nice woman and understanding. 6 assignments and 2 article summaries that you will get a good grade if you meet all criteria. If you have trouble or are confused ASK FOR HELP or you may get a bad grade. I recommend going to study sessions with her before the tests. You get 12 credit back on tests if you do corrections on them. Loved this class
The class was tough, but she is always willing to help if you need it, and she made the material interesting. It is nearly impossible to fail the class unless you just don't show up and don't do the homework because the she lets you correct tests for half credit, and the tests only make up about a third of the grade.
Doing well in her class takes hard work (go to class, read, do homework), BUT she's really helpful & wants students to do well. She'll help if you need it. Ask questions in class if you don't understand-she'll explain. The class wasn't easy, but I learned a lot, it was interesting AND I learned things that have helped me & that I'll use in my life.
Great teacher! Expectations are clear, and work is evenly paced through the quarter. Psychology isn't my favorite subject, but she made it interesting.
she always gave examples to help explain concepts. She's one of the most dedicated professors I've ever had. She also knows the material and is always open to questions, and she never makes anyone feel dumb for the questions they ask. She is also really enthusiastic, and it's clear that she loves psychology and she loves teaching!
She is an amazing teacher! Her tests are very hard but has many chances for extra credit and the homework is not a lot, they are spread out evenly. If you have her get ready to write fast! I would take her class again!
Best professor I have ever had. Lectures are detailed with examples and videos. To do well on the tests, show up to class, read and reread the book. Make sure you understand the concept and not just the definitions. Questions are often in a scenario format. Test make up sessions will save your butt if you do poorly. Great lady, cares about students
Sabra is awesome!! Don't skip her class even though lectures are posted online. Attendance is graded! Great class tests were pretty hard. She is very passionate about her field. Soooo much information packed into one quarter.
Professor Pelham was the best teacher I had this Fall. She is very helpful. Her class isn't easy; it requires lots of effort, but with as much help as she provides, no one should fail. Pelham allows students to correct exams, provides study sessions and there is extra credit. She is clear and gives the best life examples for everything she teaches
Sabra is an amazing professor. The tests are about 64 questions and extremely difficult. Read the book! I failed to do so and it crushed me. She is easy to talk to and will help you with as much as she can. Even if you have a question for her and she doesn't know the answer she will sit there and look it up and explain it to you. Wonderful teacher!
Although I got a horrible grade, Sabra was a great teacher. She is so full of knowledge and I gained so much from taking her class. She really cares about her students and will take time to explain things to you without making you feel dumb. Homework assignments are fairly easy just dont wait until the last minute to do them and study for the tests
This is one of the toughest classes I have ever taken. 24/7 I was doing some sort of assignment that was required or something that was going to bring my grade up. There are lost of extra credit opportunities, but they will only bring your grade up to a MAX of 5%. Test corrections saved my butt. Last note, miss ONE day, participation: -3%
Super great teacher! Super hard class! I didn't use my book other than for test corrections a couple times but that's kind of how I am. I did well in the class and she taught me so much! The tests were really hard but she was very helpful and she allowed test corrections and extra credit! Really enjoyed her but you have to go to class always!!!
A model prof. Her lectures were always interesting. Her class was hard, but it really rewards you for knowing the material. It was really fascinating, and she made it interesting. She was always willing to answer questions about things we found interesting. She explained psychology so well, it almost made me want to become a psychologist.
How to get a 4.0 in Sabra's Psychology 100 class: DO all of the extra credit, DO go to class, DO take notes on all of her lectures and if you miss anything DO take notes off of her powerpoints online, DO read all of the chapters on your own time and take notes on those as well, and DO make flashcards that you quiz yourself on before exams.
I took this class online and it was the worst class I have taken. The lectures are long and total about 3hrs every week. Most weeks they were not available to view until the middle of the week, making it hard to plan. Lectures very dull. Grade scale is tough, 80% is a 2.5. There is a lot of quizzes. I would not recommend this class to anyone.
The class is a lot of work for being a gen ed. She is nice and replies to mails quickly. However, grades harshly and the tests are difficult. I listended to every lecture and did all the homework and still had trouble on tests. I took the course online and would not take again if i didnt have to.
Amazing lecturer and her tests/quizzes are fair to what she teaches. The textbook isn't necessary, but you'll need to buy the online access.
My absolute favorite instructor! I took her online psych101 class for fall quarter and finished with a 4.0
Nitpicky and annoying SMH Participation & attendance is 25% of the grade. Needless to say psyc101 isn't particularly hard so why would anyone show up every day? Being an introvert who hates talking in class doesn't help either. You can ace every test and still take a bad grade because of her participation and attendance requirements. I would know
Took this class online & it wasn't what I expected, for example, there were about 3 hrs of video lectures weekly. I liked the class & learned lots more than in other online courses. I think students who disliked the class just didn't want to work & if you don't want to work, you should avoid this class. If you want to learn, I highly recommend it!
Great teacher! I had some issues this quarter, and she worked with me to help me pass! I took the class online, but she was great about responding to email. She emailed reminders about homework and tests, she really wants students to learn and do well. I'm not sure why students didn't like her class unless they didn't to work - it was a lot of work
Be prepared to work! This professor is nitpick about everything. I would not recommend this class.
I took an online class hoping it would be an easy A, boy was I wrong. I ended up dropping the class. It is a to of pointless busy work that no one cares about. She hides assignments in video lectures. She was willing to work with me to get my grade up but I had a full class load and couldn't give her 90 hrs a day that I needed to get my grade up.
I will not take this prof again. She isnt helpful if you're a distance learner. She had tons of work, videos (boring, snoozfest) and tests. She doesn't answer back very quickly. She made this class difficult to learn about. Never. Again.
Read her syllabus carefully. I didn't at first and received a zero on some assignments b/c of the time to turn them in. She gives a lot of work but most is not too difficult. She is very clear on major assignments, provides opportunities for exam corrections, and extra credit. Good overall.
such an annoying prof. just the sound of her voice gives me a headache. super condescending to students. psychology 101 is easy though
I did not find this professor helpful at all. The overall subject was easy to get, but having to sit through lectures that were later posted on canvas, requiring for us to watch either way with attendance being 15% of our grade when I can easily teach myself online instead of having to be in class mandatory was frustrating. Do not recommend.
pretty much a online class. everything is turned in online. she grade you for showing up and it DOES affect grade! show up for those points!! just do the work and youll get an A. she does give extra credit at end of term BUT YOU MUST CORRECT PREVIOUS EXAMS TO GET THEM. overall final is taken in class but she lets you correct that too, EASY read.
This class was the WOAT!
There are so many negative comments on this teacher but i dont know why, she is my all time favorite professor and i have taken two classes of hers. Dont take her class unless you are interested in that topic becuase its alot of work. She works with you and responds imediatly! Great classes and learned so much
I love this professor, she is super nice, and willing to help anytime with anything, I love her class. Although, GET READY TO READ!!!!! There is a lot to read, but it is worthy, the lectures are fun to read. With the extra credit part, she is willing to give you points if you are following her steps, do extra credits, they are helpful.
By far my favorite professor Ive had at the falls. I took her online class and she made everything extremely easy and clear. You will have to work hard for a good grade, but she makes it possible! Also responds to questions extremely quickly. Awesome online lectures, and engaging assignments, no busy work.
I really enjoyed this class. I did the hybrid class and went into the lectures. She was nice and it was nice to have everyone get to chime in sometimes. I feel like I learned a lot and Id recommend this class. Pretty easy to get a good grade if you do the assignments.
The hardest thing about this professor for me was that she seemed to structure the class for students who would be only taking her class for the quarter. Although she did give feedback, it was too late the exam came and gone by the time she gave her comment. Please try her on-ground class and you might have a better experience - passionate she is.
Don't chosse it. This lady will dissapear before you need her grades your work!
i want to give her last digit of negative marks
Sabra was super friendly and a great professor. She offers lots of extra credit. I think theres a possibility to earn over 100 points extra credit. Tests are all multiple choice, and the assignments are fairly straightforward. Great professor, I would totally take again.
I really like Sabra.. but holy cow there is a ton of reading on top of your daily lectures... I tok an online class so that I wouldn't have to sit in "class" and listen. But you will get recorded lectures. And all of a sudden, I'm getting horrible grades, I'm getting 2/10 when I'm writing paragraphs for the assignment, but she isnt explaining..
She just isn't a great teacher if you need extra help. I did my best, reading the 100 pages everyweek, on top of listening to lectures 3-5 times a week, and they don't match up with the correct week youre one. And now.... we're not even halfway, and she's completely MIA. SFCC needs to upgrade their teacher pool.
OH MY GOSH. I'm not sure why this lady is getting some good reviews, shes just awful. Terribly tough grader, would be 2/10 and 1/10 on "participation assignments" when Id written paragraphs and paragraphs for her with NO explanation of why or what I did wrong. And she's completely disappeared now when the quarter ends in 3 weeks... SFCC please fire
Sabra is one of the worst professors I have ever had. She has 7-10 lectures at 30-45min long every week that don't match up with the modules, on top of the modules, quizzes, and participation assignments. She is not willing to work with you and her lectures are over 4 years old. My friends who are Psych majors have said her work load is huge.
Genuinely made me wish i had the energy to go into psychology. As long as you bother to go, you won't have a problem. I had her when she was doing hybrid (half online half offline) class and she recorded all her lectures at home so that if she didn't finish her in class lecture she could tell you a time stamp to continue from. My favorite class!
Let me just start off with the fact that this instructor is a great person. But she expects what I would think is like way higher level college work from a level 100 class. It was the hardest class I have ever experienced. Lots of vocabulary, assignments, lectures (online and in person), quizzes, etc.
Tons of info is unloaded in a small amount of time. Exams are 80 questions in 80 mins. Have to listen to all lectures to get participation assignments correct. Reading and quiz for each module (4 a week). 4+ hours of lectures a week. participation assignment once a week from lectures. 3 hw assignments and 3 exams throughout the quarter. good luck.
this teacher is awful. i always get good grades ( A's & B's) but i could not keep up with this class. The assignments take hours for only 5 points so if you miss a few points on the tests ( 3 of them) then you will fail. she was nice but she gives out too much work with little to no benefit on your grade.
She is a very tough grader. Doesn't work with you if you have concerns about your grade. Good about responding but not great with help.
Dr. Pelham is an excellent professor who truly teaches her students. Her goal is to help her students learn, which she does through excellent video lectures and specific feedback on assignments. She always promptly answered my questions. She does everything she can to help her students as long as they put in the effort required to succeed.
I learned a lot from this class. After you complete the reading for the week there are 3 online assignments that you get full credit for as long as you complete them by the exam. ( pretty easy & dont take long at all) You need to watch lectures- assignments attached + you learn so much from them. Dr. Pelham is passionate about her job. EC offered
Dr. Pelham is an excellent professor. Lectures and assignments were interesting and relevant. Grading criteria and deadlines were clear. Grades and emails were returned in a timely manner. Paying close attention to the book and lectures was important. Time investment was significant, but I learned a lot. Overall, a challenging and inspiring class.
I learned so much in her class and will definitely take another class from her. She's one of my only instructors during Covid who taught-didn't just assign reading and tests. About 30 hours of lectures -with lots of interesting info- don't skip them if you want to do well! 3 relevant assignments, 3 exams and a final. hard work but totally worth it!
Professor Pelham is a phenomenal instructor. One of the most important things that sets her apart from other online classes (especially during COVID) is her ability to be thorough. She provides ample sources to relate back to, video records her lectures, makes PowerPoints available in their entirety, provides tons of examples and feedback if needed
Amazing instructor! I learned so much! Class organization is easy to follow. No late penalties except on exams. She responds quickly to messages answering until close to midnight on exam days, is always available to Zoom and keeps working to help til you get what you need. She said 5 credits 15 hours per week. I spent about 12hrs/wk and got a B.
See positive comments for my thoughts! She's an incredible, passionate, knowledgeable instructor who helps you succeed but expects you to work for it. If you read negative comments, check the grades. You only fail if you don't do the work. Inaccurate info in those too. 40-60 pgs of reading/wk not 100, about 3 hrs of video lectures/wk not 4+.
Dear Dr. Pelham, I thank you so so much for a great class! I will read the text book again as I feel I have much more to relearn! You are a great teacher, and one who has amplified to me the true meaning of PATIENCE! Thank you!!
She is knowledgeable enough to write her own textbooks! Home-works consist of weekly readings, follow-up questions (not difficult), and quizzes (four tries each quiz; highest score kept); video lectures (YouTube videos every know and then:) ) are very informative. She gives more time or even lets you redo work if seen necessary. You'll pass.
Idk didnt really like her and would probably avoid her class. Had annoying speeches about students being lazy and cheating etc
I was afraid to take her class due to negative ratings/comments but loved it! She's excellent, knowledgeable, helpful! Do readings and quizzes are easy. If you watch lectures, participation assignments are no problem! Zoom with her if you have questions about HM. Class is easy to follow, and I learned so much! She's an A+ teacher! Great class! HTH!
This was probably my favorite class at SFCC. People on here say it's hard, bit if you make even an ounce of effort it's really not. And the teacher obviously really cares about the subject matter which is rare and makes the class a lot more enjoyable. If I wasn't dead set on my career choice, this class probably would have changed my mind.
Huge improvement from my horrible gen psych prof! Class is easy to follow with clear expectations, workload's manageable, and she's so available (often answers emails sent after 5pm the same night, scheduled a Zoom meeting 45 minutes after I emailed to ask for one). May not get A+ but already learned more from her in 2 wks than from gen psych guy!
The most difficult part of this class is that you have to read a lot and watch all the lectures as some information is exclusive to both. The best part is that if you are confused or want more information on anything, Professor Pelham responds quickly and answers questions thoroughly.
This is a truly great professor that maybe you get lucky enough to have once or twice in your college career. Are you ready to learn? Are you willing to work hard? This is not an easy A, this is a tough class but you will get so much out of it and she is such an amazing teacher!!!
I had a great learning experience with her!
I took her general psych class last quarter and love her and the class so much I took developmental psychology this quarter. She's an incredible teacher. She is so available to help. I've Zoomed with her 2x this quarter and both times she met with me the same day I requested the meeting. She's amazing, and I am again learning so much!
This is my 2nd class with her and I love it and her teaching! I watch lectures at home and sometimes my roommates stop to watch too because the content is so interesting and she's so passionate! If her class is full, wait to take it until you can get her! She is worth waiting for! Be aware - you'll have to work. Expect 10-15 hours/week to to well.
I have historically struggled with online classes, but during Professor Pelham's Psychology class I had access to well laid out lectures AS WELL as a textbook so that I, at no point, was left confused. She was great at explaining tough concepts and very receptive when I asked for help.
Dr. Pelham always challenged me to be a better student. Her class was laid out based on lectures, very easy to follow. Stay on track you will do good. She tried her best to explain topics I was confused on & even met with me outside of class to clear things up. Don't expect to take her class & get an easy A. You will need to work for your grade!
This is my second class with her. The class was laid out based on online lectures, very easy to follow. Stay on track you will do good. She has a clear grading criteria. Follow the syllabus and you will do good! Lectures were interesting. Don't expect to take her class & get an easy A. You will need to work for your grade!
She's great, so passionate and knowledgeable! I learned so much useful and interesting stuff! FYI, doing participation assignments really matter. I'd have gotten an A but I didn't bother with them until halfway thru. Highly recommend, but plan at least 10 hours a week for her class if your read fast, more if not.
Dr. Pelham was very caring and understanding. I came to her at the start of the quarter with concerns regarding my anxiety and learning disorders and she was always willing to work with me. You have to really pay attention and work for your grade but the material is easy to grasp and she is very good at explaining and breaking things down.
Dr. Pelham responds to emails quickly. She cares about the way you learn and will go out of her way to make sure you understand. You need to participate in the class- she makes it fun. The lectures are interesting. Tons of extra credit is offered and the assignments are full credit as long as you finish them before the exam. Best prof for Psych
I love this class and lifespan I took both classes with professor Sabra Pelham she is a great professor very helpful. I loved the lectures. She always replied to messages and comments. I found this class so helpful for my life and enjoyed this class also.
She was an amazing professor. She really got the information a crossed to the students. Really helped me understand the material. I could tell she cared for each and every student.
Ms. Pelham was an amazing teacher. I really liked the way she had her online class set up and I thought everything I learned in the class was really interesting. There is a lot of lectures and quite a bit of homework but its worth it and its easy if you watch the lectures/read the book.
Dr. Pelham is a great teacher. This was not an "easy" class but the expectations were clear and she was always available to help.
Mrs. Pelham is an excellent instructor. She doesn't just teach the class, she has a way of making you understand what she's teaching. You're actually learning and understanding what you're learning, and that stays with you. Her lectures were amazing even funny at times. I learned so much from her, I would definitely take one of her classes again (:
I took lifespan psychology with her. I thought she was a really great teacher, she was kind and fun and as long as you do the reading and watch the lecture videos you are will do well, it straightforward. Although I only had her online so lectures were prerecorded, I enjoyed being taught by her and wish I could have more classes with her tbh!
This teacher gives way too much work. Instead of helping you learn, she dishes out so much work that you become so overwhelmed with the amount of material that you forget to focus on the actual goal at hand: Learning. Instead, you focus on passing. This is coming from an A student. Beware she will bore you with her life stories on her recorded lect
Logged on to leave feedback for a GREAT teacher and was surprised the first rating I saw for her was bad and imo wrong! The class took 10-15 hrs/wk and I learned so much! She was always quick to respond, evenings and weekends included and clearly wanted students to succeed w/ email reminders about exams, messages when I got behind, help with h.w.
She was so amazing. The class was so informative, and her lectures helped me understand myself and my child. I was a new parent at the time and I had never been around kids at all, the way that she taught and how she related to the class helped me drastically in both the class and in my personal life. She was easy to talk to and to understand.
Professor Pelham was a great instructor. There is lots of reading, which is to be expected. This is Phyc after all. When I had extenuating life circumstances I reached out and she was more than happy to help and was gracious . In my experience, professors are willing to help if you are honest with them, respectful, and trying your best.
I loved Dr. Pelhams class! I took the class online, and I found it interesting and fun. There are weekly readings and module quizzes which are generally pretty easy. Participation assignments are necessary to pass the class but they are also easy if you put in the time to watch the lectures. If you try in this class you will do just fine!
Dr. Pelham was an awesome professor; I'm so glad I took this class with her! She related everything we learned to real life situations and gave really helpful advice along with what she taught. Every time I watched her lectures I took away pieces of information/advice that I will use in my marriage and future parenthood. She is truly inspiring!
Professor Pelham is very knowledgeable and passionate in her teachings. I learned a lot of great information while taking Life Span Psychology. Do not go into this class expecting an easy A. There are strong expectations and Professor Pelham holds you accountable. However, there are many extra credit opportunities given for a grade boost!
It was hard to pick three. I wanted to say amazing lectures but lecture heavy was important because the really important assignments are in the lectures. Caring and takes time to zoom and help you understand. The second time taking one of her classes the grading criteria was more clear :) and she explains it if you ever have any questions.
The weekly assignments and lectures are laid out clearly and explained well. The assignments are fun but challenging :) at least for me! Haha. Extra credit is offered as well as good feedback on the homework. Would choose her again as a professor.
I took both my psychology classes with professor Pelham. She always was willing to work with me and always answered my questions. I really appreciated her patience and understanding my work schedule to help me take my exams around it. I would 100% take her class again.
This was my 2nd class with her, and I wish I could take more ! She's amazing, caring, helpful, available, knowledgeable! She has high standards and you 'll have to work to do well (watch lectures and do participation assignments if you want an A). If you do the work you will do great! She'll help if you need it, we Zoomed twice this qtr. I got an A
Her content is thorough and the lectures are entertaining. Definitely some important life stuff here. The layout of the online class is perfect. Modules unlock as you complete your assignments so there is no getting "overwhelmed". Dr. Pelham is extremely communitive, approachable and understanding. You'd have to intentionally try to fail, to fail
Amazing lectures that made me feel like I was apart of them and also taught me a lot about Dr. Pelham. She was very kind and more than fair. I spoke to her prior to being late on assignments and she had no issues with me making up assignments or re doing them when i didnt do so well as long as I communicated prior to the due date. Very inspiring!!
I loved this class and the instructor! She was always willing to help. Lectures were helpful! She answered email quickly and was available to Zoom on short notice. I will definitely take another class from her! If you want to learn and are willing to work, I highly recommend her class! If you want an easy A with little work, choose someone else.
I worked hard and learned a lot! She took extra time to walk me through one assignment of three I needed help with until I understood it, which is more engagement than with other instructors. I learned relevant information that i will definitely use in my chosen field and interesting information for life! Highest recommendation!
Professor Pelham is very flexible with due dates if you communicate with her and show that you are making an effort.
This course was great!
I loved her class and learned so much with her excellent lectures and teaching! I'd have gotten a better grade but I let things slide to focus on other classes then thought I was gonna fail and gave up on class, She reached out and asked if I wanted to pass then helped me do it even though I'd been a pretty bad student up til then. A+ teacher!
She was by far the best teacher I've had at the falls! She is so knowledgeable but is patient and not condescending when students don't understand something or need extra help. She made the class interesting with lectures that cover the book but add to the information there. She was always available, up late to help on exam days, just amazing!
She was a great instructor! The class was challenging, but the workload was manageable. Requirements were clear, and she was available to help quickly when I needed it. I took her Lifespan class too, and I would recommend her for any psychology class she teaches!
Professor is very knowledgeable and easy to listen to when lecturing. The exams and assignments were very difficult for me, but she really prepares you to learn the information well. If you enjoy psychology/are considering majoring in this study, for sure you should take from Sabra Pelham. She knows her stuff. You will succeed if do the work.
She was great, provided clear expectations and instructions, responded quickly to email, was available to help, and cared about students succeeding. The class was challenging (psych is not my thing) but she made it interesting. If I had to take the class I again, she would be my first choice for a teacher.
I took her general psych class and this one was easier (but still challenging). I wasn't much into psych but both classes were required for my major, and she made the content interesting! She's a great teacher who will work with you to help you succeed!
I enjoyed Professor Pelhalm's lifespan psych course, you will definitely learn a lot if you stay engaged and do all the homework as well as watch all the lectures. There are plenty of opportunities for extra credit, and she is very flexible with you as long as you communicate early! Great course.
I finished my AA and am at Eastern now. I took this and lifespan with her and am majoring in psyc because of her classes. She's the best and most knowledgeable psyc prof I've had. You won't find a better at the falls (or eastern). The class is fascinating, and she makes it understandable, but it's a hard class, so be ready for a challenge.
This was my 2nd class with her and she was amazing! This class was not as hard as gen psyc but still took effort, and it was worth every bit of effort I put into it. I recommend taking any psyc class you can from her!
Ive taken two classes from Dr. Pelham and I enjoyed both. She is very clear about her expectations and what you need to do in order to succeed in her class. She lays out the entire quarter at the beginning so you can plan out your week. Lectures are very interesting - participation is easily achieved by answering a couple questions in them!
I loved this class and the instructor! The class required effort but anyone who makes time to do the work can pass. She will help if you need it, so just ask! She wants students to succeed and worked hard to help me do that!
This class is so amazing! It helps you understand yourself, your life, and the people in it! I loved gen psych (took that with Dr. Pelham too), but this class is more immediately relevant to life and relationships! I think everyone should have to take a lifespan psychology class, and if you get to take it from Dr. Pelham, you're lucky!
I learned so much from her class, and she is a great teacher! The workload is consistent, and the course is laid out clearly from the first day of class. You can't get an A without trying, but it's easy to do well in her class if you just do the work!
Great class and a great teacher!
This was my 2nd class with her, and she was great! I would not take psycology from anyone else!
I loved her teaching and the class! Take her class if you can! She will work with you to help you succeed and you will learn so much!
Lectures were amazing and added so much to the class beyond what was in the book! She was my favorite instructor from my time at the SFCC!
I loved her class and appreciated her teaching so much that I took another class from her after this one!Her general psychology was really interesting and I learned things that will definitely be of use throughout my life!
She is a great teacher and made the class content understandable and relevant. I am now at WSU and her class prepared me for university work in a way that none of my other instructors or classes at the falls did. Don't take psychology from anyone but her!
She is a great teacher, and her online class was amazing! It was structured like a 'real' class, and I learned more in her class than any other class I took during covid. Her teaching and her class were the best!
This was my 2nd class with Dr. Pelham, and I wish I could take more! I really appreciated her teaching, availability, knowledge, and willingness to work with me to accommodate challenges I experienced this quarter in particular! I learned so much and truly loved this class and had an amazing quarter with her!
She is great teacher and I learn so much from her. She understands my schedule is difficult and help me! If you need help, ask her and she will help!
I enjoyed her teaching and the class so much that I'm signed up to take another class from her this fall!
The class is easy if you just do the reading, watch the lectures, and do the participation assignments and homework. I loved her lectures so much I asked her to give me access to them after the class ended! I was so lucky end up in her class. If you have the time to do the work, you will do well and learn so much that is fascinating and useful!
I can say that I genuinely enjoyed my experience with Dr. Pelham and with this class. I am pre-nursing and interested specifically in the psychological areas, and everything in this class was useful and relevant. Many, many, many thanks to Dr. Pelham! She is knowledgeable, dedicated, enthusiastic, and willing to go the extra mile to help!
Really didnt have a good experience with this professor. I would never take a class from her again. Takes long time to get back to you. Slow grader. Has no grace for your situation. Doesnt feel like she wants you to succeed.
I wouldn't recommend this prof. Honestly, didn't get much help from her at all and she takes forever to get back to you. I honestly felt like she thinks she is teaching at an advanced university. She doesn't offer much support for your issues.
I had a great experience with the class and highly recommend her! She responded quickly to email, was available evenings and weekends, and was always helpful! I have BA and am back in school getting pre-reqs for a new career. This class was typical of college classes-not easy but reasonable. It took 12-15 hours/week, and I learned so much!
By far the most personable, inspirational, and compassionate professor at the Falls. I think she could write her own textbooks regarding Psychology because she is so deeply passionate about this subject. She is the push I needed to become a Psychology teacher and I will forever be thankful to her for that. Choose Dr. Pelham!! You won't regret it!
She's fabulous -knowledgeable, helpful, allows you to redo assignments to improve grades, and is almost always available (responds to emails evenings on weekends). She's flexible if you have unusual circumstances to warrant it, but don't expect her to bend the rules just because you have a busy life. Great class, but you'll have to work to do well!
Dr. Pelham was great! Responded quickly to email, gave good feedback, really cares about students, made class interesting! i highly recommend her but if you want and easy A she's not for you. If you want to learn lots and are willing put in the effort you'll love her class! If a C is all you want, she lets you do less work and still get that grade.
I loved her and the class! She gives the option to work for a grade better than a C or for a C as your highest grade. I chose the C option, so I did not have to do the exams or homework assignments. It was a great for me, I still learned alot and she was just as responsive and engaged after I switched to C as my highest grade as before that.
I loved her and the class. If you want a clearly organized class with a responsive knowledgeable instructor, you cannot go wrong with her! The class requirements are explained clearly in the syllabus, and the schedule is laid out from the first day. The class is easy to follow, and her enthusiasm made me love psychology in a way I didn't expect!
This was my 2nd class with her and it was great! It's easier than general psychology, organized the same way, but only 3 exams and this quarter she let students skip homework and exams in exchange for a C as the highest possible grade. She really seems to want students to succeed and comes up with ways like that new grade option to help!
Hardest class Ive ever taken. 15+ hours of homework a week. 3 80question exams and one final exam of 150 questions over all material learned during quarter. If you dont take hours of notes a week, you will fail this class. So much more work is required than necessary, and she had some very progressive agendas hidden in her lectures.
She was fabulous-responded quickly to email, answered questions clearly and thoroughly, worked hard to help me succeed! Don't take her class if you want an easy A, but it you want to learn a LOT from a passionate knowledgeable instructor, she's right for you! BTW, watch the video lectures. You can't do participation assignments without them!
I think this is the best Professor I ever had at both my undergrad and graduate schools. She is so intelligent and makes learning really engaging and interesting. She is smart and funny and you can learn a lot from her.
Dr. Pelham puts a ton of effort in to her class and has lots of really interesting lectures that are extremely enjoyable and interesting to watch. Over all an amazing class that I would happily take again. Take her if you are actually interested in psychology and willing to put in the effort
Dr. Pelham put a lot of effort into her class to make it easy to follow. Has the best lectures and the simplest way to understand the material. I took the fully online portion which allows you to go at your own pace, it allows you to get ahead by a few weeks. She responds super fast to emails. Gives simple EC, guarantees grade increase by 5%.
Maybe it was just the course content, but I loved this class! Dr. Pelham answered questions well, had a flexible calendar, and had a great personality with her lectures. Make sure to not procrastinate the lectures and quizzes because they build up. She also had very many extra credit opportunities that helped you study for the final.
Dr. Pelham is very knowledgeable when it comes to her line of work. Her class is very organized, and is not difficult. Participation really matters, and you will watch a lot of lectures, but that is expected. I would definitely recommend Dr. Pelham to anyone who loves psychology and online courses!
Dr. Pelham deeply cares about her student's success as well as making her class material practical and easy to learn. She promptly responds to emails and listens to concerns with a willingness to help if possible. Her class can easily be taken with a heavy course load or full time job without sacrificing grades or job performance.
A great professor! The information that she provides throughout this class is extremely informative and helpful to every day life. I gained a lot from this class that I have been and will continue to apply to my daily life personal and work related.
Dr. Pelham is fantastic!! She cares about her profession and it shows. This is the first time in the past 2 years it feels like a teacher actually taught a class, not recycling the same materials, PowerPoints, just changing due dates or not even changing them at all. Bravo! Thank you for TEACHING! Lectures are clear, precise and informative.
Great professor, is passionate about what she teaches. Relatable in her lectures.
Dr. Pelham was a great instructor. You can tell she has passion for psychology and shares that passion with you. Dr. Pelham gives great feedback, options for extra credit, and 2 different path/grading options (pass/fail or traditional). You can tell she honestly care about her student and their success.
Dr. Pelham is an amazing physiology teacher! She assigns a lot of homework and lectures, but is extremely flexible in her due dates. As long as you take the tests on time, nothing is considered late. She also gives you a choice on how involved you want to be in the class and assignments, depending on what grade you're aiming to receive.
Dr. Pelham expects you to study and you will be doing more homework that you are likely used to. The online class was easy to follow, and the virtual book and study guide helps prepare you for exams. She also gives two grade options. If you are just looking to pass you can choose a much lighter workload. This class is worth the effort!
I felt that Dr. Pelham was a great professor. I took this class online but still felt able to manage the workload. I appreciated the fact that she took the extra time to explain things and relate them to real life scenarios. She was a joy to learn from.
Professor Pelham assigns homework every day and sometimes has 2-3 assignments due on the same day as well. If you are looking for a hard class that overloads you with homework, take this class. She does offer two different grading options, however, both overload you in homework. I took her online class, but maybe her in person is better?
Dr. Pelham is wonderful. Her directions are very clear, and she has everything you need for class. You need the book w/access to "Achieve" online learning. Lecture videos are split and weekly participation assignments hidden in lecture videos, 3 exams AND extra credit. Do the work, get a good grade. Loved this class and Dr. Pelham.
Dr. Pelham was great! The class I took used Achieve, and she gave two grade options so you could pick what you wished to participate in. Lots of lectures, but they were very informative and provided a lot of additional detail that the textbook left out. If you put the effort in, you'll definitely reap the benefits of this class :)
Slightly longer lecture times than stated at beginning of term but still not overwhelming and very thorough in lectures and covered exactly what was needed for assignments/tests.
I found her to be fair and a great professor for both my psychology classes. I learned a lot from these classes and I think others will too.
It was a very informational class, but even online, be ready for lectures! there were six 30-45+ minute lecture videos every week, along with multiple textbook chapters and quizzes. It was nice that late work wasn't docked points except for exams, and extra credit is offered, but the workload was really overwhelming for me.
This teacher was so rude and condescending in her lectures and to her students. This class requires so many lectures where it feels like she is yelling at you the whole time. She was not very caring or compassionate, I was having major anxiety and trouble with the exams, she gave me horrible advice and did not even point me to disability services.
She has about 4 to 5 lectures a week (equivalent to a in-person class). Each week there are 3 to 4 chapters to read with quizzes. Between the reading and lectures, you are provided everything you need to know to complete the homework (not easy) and exams. Her standards are very clear for the two grade options she offers. Best online class so far.
I learned a ton from this class. She is very clear on what is required and has very explicit instruction. Responds to questions in a timely manner. Gives personal feedback specific to your work that makes it clear on what you need to work on for next time and what you did well. Overall great experience!
Great class, great lectures, great teacher. Tons and tons of work outside of class, hard to keep up with. I wouldn't take another class of hers unless it was necessary, she's overall very nice.
Would only recommend this class if you take it individually. She is a tough grader and doesn't give any study guides for her tests. She offers two grading styles which one is obsolete to do because you have to get 100s on everything for a C. Class mean on the first test was a 60 and no one in all of her classes got an A on the first big assignment.
I will start w good; This is a very well organized/structured online course. Everything is in one place, assignments have the same structure & she is VERY clear about expectations! Not so great; homework on homework (so. much.) No pretests & all quizzes are thru achieve so exam questions seem random & uncovered frequently. Very harsh grader.
This class was a lot of work, which she did outline. There are three big assignments as well as tests (no study guides or anything) and weekly module quizzes. There are also hours of videos and participation assignments per week. For anyone looking to take this class, make sure you set aside a lot of time per week for this class.
Wouldn't recommend this professor.
Dr Pelham was mostly a great teacher. There was a lot of work, a few quizzes, and chapters a week. You had to find assignments within the lectures, which i did not like, I understand she just wants you to watch them, but she needs to make them clearer in the videos. The 2.5-hour final was terrible, but boosted my grade a ton. I would recommend
Dr. Pelham has a challenging class but it is full of life-valuable material. It isn't just a class there is so much you can gain. She makes it personal so that it is easier to retain. The material is challenging but not overwhelming. I would retake this class because there is so much I can still learn from it.
I took Dr. Pelham's general psychology course two quarters ago, and it was pretty good. Be prepared to do lots of reading out of the assigned textbook and pay close attention to how she words things in lecture, because you will fail her exams otherwise. I did like that she seemed genuinely interested in psychology, and she had a good personality.
Dr.Pelham is very transparent and understanding. I knew what was expected of me for the class and there is not an overwhelming amount of coursework. I do recommend setting aside time to study for tests and quizzes.
The content of this class was very informative, and I felt I learned a lot of valuable information from the assigned book. However, Dr. Pelham's follow-up with practice tests, exams, and lectures could be improved. Much of the content didn't align with what we were reading, and her feedback was minimal. Adding in group discussions would be helpful.
She makes her classes very difficult and you will have to be spending 15+ hours a week on her class. She changes due dates to be sooner than previously where. Such as changing an exam to the day after a holiday instead of 4 days after holiday.
PROS: would e-mail me back usually within 24 hours, some extra credit. CONS: exams are 80 minutes to complete 80 questions, 6-7 30+ minute lectures, Exams would be scheduled for random days and only open for 24 hours. Lots of reading (it's not a crazy amount for a five credit class but it is very time consuming). Learned lots but so stressful
This class had so many assignments that were due about every other day or so. When I asked for help on an assignment, I was treated less than for not knowing what to do. It was a very difficult class; I wouldn't retake this teacher. On the good side, she records all of her lectures and gives great examples to help you understand more.
No learning objectives/guides Practice quizzes are easy do not prepare for hard exams Had exam on President's Day she suggested using computers on campus which was closed. Lectures with errors sends correction emails. Once was pointing to Spain while giving info about UK and she never corrected it, did not know which conditioning was one example
Professor Pelham has a structured online course with clear expectations, but it's very demanding. Lots of weekly assignments and tough exams. I found unstuckstudy and the textbook helpful for studying. Overall, a challenging yet rewarding class.
If Psych is your primary focus and you're ready to do lots of reading and enjoy a challenge, take this class. If not, it may be too hard. 40-60 long pages of reading per week, 3 quizzes, 2 80 pt exams/month, lots of online lectures, and very time consuming. Be ready to watch the lectures for participation points
This class is difficult bc of the heavy workload, not the professor's abilities. Dr. Pelham's lectures were concise and informative, while long at times. She also responds fairly quickly and is kind & helpful. I just found that the workload took away from the learning process. Be prepared to stay on top of the class, getting behind is very costly.
My psychology professor knows their stuff, but their teaching style could be better. Sometimes the material isn't clear, making it hard to understand, and assignment instructions are often confusing. More interactive and structured teaching, along with clearer communication, would really help improve the learning experience.
This instructor's style of grading makes absolutely no sense. You can't rely on the final percentage you have in Canvas as your actual final grade, which is very frustrating. There's lots of homework and lectures. It's almost as if some instructors forget that people have other obligations outside of their class. Not recommended.
Dr. Pelham is a great teacher! She is very responsive, grades fairly (curves exams/extra credit), and is very passionate in what she does. Be ready to do some reading (60-80 pages w/pictures) and watching approx. 3 hours of lecture a week, but if you are passionate in science, this class offers tons of knowledge and prepares you for future classes.
This professor is very thorough and easy to work with. The class is sufficiently difficult being a 200 class but she never asked or tested on things that were not covered. I would recommend this professor to anyone who needs to take the class.
Really liked her class! Gives lots of lectures but they're all great. Very responsive in messages, always there to help if you're struggling understanding something or having tech issues. The exams are lengthy and pretty challenging, but she gives extra credit to help round out your grade. Can't recommend enough, even if it's just a prereq for you.
Take this class! By far my favorite college course ever taken! Class isn't easy, but you'll learn so much more than you thought was possible in just one class. Not reluctant at all to spill her energy into her work, Sabra is an excellent lecturer who really actually cares about her job and her students!!!
I was surprised to enjoy this class so much. Dr. Pelham is a great lecturer, and probably the most engaged instructor I've ever had for an online course. Lectures are so thorough that the textbook really only needs to be skimmed to fill in gaps. Gives great feedback on all assignments - she clearly reads each one which i really appreciated.
Dr. Pelham's PSYC 100 class did have a lot of reading, but it is scattered in a way that does not feel overwhelming as long as you maintain some type of schedule. The modules are easy to follow, and you'll never be unsure of what is required of you. You are in control of your grade; the work you want to do, or not do, is up to you.
The quizzes are different this time around. But nothing too crazy. The workload is manageable. Reading and lectures in this course are interesting since it's about our lifespan as human beings. I took this on with 3 other classes, so if you're contemplating adding it with others during a semester, it's very doable.
She was a good professor, but at the end of the year, she accused me of academic dishonesty over a 5-point difference in a self-graded assignment from two months prior. She took away all 78 points, 12.5 off another part of the assignment, and my extra credit, and ignored my attempts to explain.
I returned to college after 20+ years away and Dr. Pelham was incredibly helpful at guiding me through the process of online classes. She is respectful, knowledgeable, and willing to work with real life scenarios. I was grateful to have such an incredible professor right out of the gate.
