She is the best English teacher I have ever had. At first I dreaded English and its never-ending compositions, but Ms. Belz was different. She taught us how to become better readers and writers in a magical way. Very interesting to listen to.

Cares about what she does. Everything is well timed to where you can go at an easy pace. certain assignments (particularly the essay, outline, final draft, etc.) are due on different dates instead of having a bunch due on 1 day. She does this to make our lives a little bit easier. I recommend her.

Professor Belz has such compassion for teaching that it rubs off on us students. Her humor and vibrant attitude kept us interested in learning. Her class is not easy, but it is definatly worth it.

Was a substitute teacher for about 2 wks and I really enjoyed her class. She makes it very interesting for everybocy and was also very helpful with my class work for the short period.

She is absolutely awesome...love her, took English Comp 1301, had to have her for 1302...Will definatly take her again if I had the chance!!!

I had Mrs. Belz when I attended HCC, now a student at University of Houston Downtown about to graduate, she is an excellent instructor. I had no problems when it came to research and writing at UHD, as a matter of fact when I transferred I had to take a writing proficient test, I passed the first time.Most students at UHD writing is awful.

She's the one professor I know who is always willing to help her students. Learn something new everytime I talk to her. A great instructor and a friend.

this is my 2nd time taking her and i wasnt disappointed. she is great and so full of life. she does not bore you. the only thing is the partner project. that sucked, but she is the greatest english teacher and very helpful. highly recommended.

I took Professor Belz for 1301, 1302, American Lit. and Womens Lit.! She loves her job and thus makes learning extremely fun for her students. She is very understanding. Her class is only easy if you do the work and enjoy writing a lot of papers. I learned so much from her, what an awesome lady!!!!

She is not an easy teacher I do not know where you guys got that from. she is far from easy you will work your A## off in that class but she is very very helpfull . She will literally hold your hand and guide you through the class. If you miss a class you will be lost for the rest of the semester.25 papers and 12 page research paper. Good luck

What can i say about Mrs. Blez that has not been said! She is just an awesome teacher who loves what she does and does it well. I have taken her for 1301, 1302, n will be taking her again. She is intertaining and keeps you awake no matter what time her class is at. Lots of work but she will guide u all the way so it is impossible not to get an A!

Alot of reading and writing in this class. The teacher was very helpful with all assignments. She will proofread your writings before turning in your final draft. It is up to you to do your work on time and give her enough time to look over it for you. I learned so much from this class.

She is very funny and makes the class interesting. Her assignments require hard work, but its worth it in the end. Most of the class is writing, which is easy. Most of her writings involve personal opinion so it is not that bad. Reading is a must in this class, otherwise you can fail the daily quizzes.

American literature was a breeze with Professor Belz and not to mention an awesome class! She made it so interesting and awesome! I truly enjoyed the class and wished I could've taken her for all my ENGL classes! She returns the papers to you with corrections and suggestions, making you get either an A or B at most! I took her during my Saturday class. She is really cool and keeps the class awake. Her voice is something hard to forget, its almost like she's singing when reading. I dropped from her class 3 weeks before finals because of some unusual events in my life. I knew I was going to get an A though. I will definitely re-take her!

Very understanding, I took her class English I and II, women Literature 2353. I got all A's. Eventhough, she gives a lot of work like journals but this is why I got A's in her class. Very helpul and excellent attitude.

She looks like she walked out of a british novel. Her laugh is loud and makes you smile. Her sense of humor keeps you awake. She gives a lot of busy work and sometimes it feels like she holds your hand a little too much along the way. She was one of my best professors in my several years of college.

I took her for a summer english computer class. She was fabulous. She was always late which was good cause it was an 8:00 class. Easy because she made it fun. THe best teacher I have had so far in college.

Well, there were times when i thought the pile of work was going to topple over and crush me like a banana. WHy banana? YESSS! but Professor belz improved my paper folding skills. The PP project was rough, but eh? Charge it to struggle developing character similar to the characters in the stories you read. the stories were great, and she was fun.

This professor is the epitome of how all professors should be like. She provides constant positive and encouraging feedback and makes the class very fun to participate in. Don't get me wrong, her class is NOT easy and you will be quite busy during the semester, but the class is so well organized that it would be hard to fall behind.

Professor Belz is one of THE best professors still alive at HCC. I took her for SS on a saturday and she was easy. Note: Do the journals, read the stories, write the essays (make sure you have good structure), and make sure you turn in what is due next class and you will get an A, i did! Also, SHOW UP! She's funny too!

She was very helpful, always returned emails within 24 hours & made the assignments very clear. I took her online 1301 English class & it was not hard however she requires a discussion once a week and a journal as well. Other than that she grades very easily. She's more about helping you progress than anything, Easy A if you do you work.

Ms Belz is very involved, even in the distance ed class. i learned a lot, had timely response from her on every question, got great additional FREE resources. she follows her syllabus and sends out revision as needed. very professional and caring.

I took Prof. Belz's class online and I can honestly say that she is very helpful and nice. SHE GIVES A TON OF WORK AND THE CLASS IS HIGH PACED. If you need a class that is a little less high intensity, I recommend someone else. AGAIN, GIVES ALOT OF WORK. The class isn't necessarily hard just high paced.

I have an A average so far in the English I online course. I am taking courses so my attention is not really focused on English. I complete my work as required, write the journals,etc. BUT I HATE GROUP WORK! You may be paired with someone who is COMPLETELY COMPUTER ILLITERATE. Other than that, it's a breeze.

I'm sorry, but for an online English 1 course,the overload is ridiculous. The point of online is convenience, however, when you are logging on 24/7 trying to complete MULTIPLE assignments, it becomes less and less convenient. You might as well physically attend class. Easy assignments, but way too much!U will also have partners. good luck with that

If you take this class online, be prepared to have to work. Be sure to prioritize Oh! there is also mycomplab, you must do work for that also! She seems like a sweet lady, but the assignment overload should be changed. I do not mind working but having to write and complete long assignments for mycomplab is is too much.

I just took this class for Summer Session II. I knew there was a lot of work involved, but WOW! She is an AMAZING professor, she cares about her students, but be ready to have a heavy work load. It is challenging having to balance this class with others, but it is all to your advantage. No textbook required!

Excellent instructor and extremely helpful. I had no interest in this subject prior to enrolling because i hate to read but I learned so much interesting stuff. The readings are short. (yeaaay) the assignments are useful and give you good practice in writing techniques. this prof has a nice personality and makes the class fun. Highly recommend!

Great professor! I took her online summer class. If you log in regularly, participate in discussions, and give the class some effort you will do well.

This class was a lot of work, but it was worth it. She is very patient with students and encourages us to ask questions. I took her online class and she was ALWAYS online ready to answer questions. She grades more for completion and effort, so as long as you do all the work and try you should do very well.

I took this class online and Professor Belz is one of the best online instructors I have had. Instructions for assignments are very clear. There are ALOT of writing and editing assignments! Several a week, this class will keep you busy. However, if you have difficulty writing, you will learn a lot. Very lenient grader :)

for those who want to take her thinking she is easy, she is not . But what makes the class easy are crystal clear instructions, extreme helpfulness and coordination by professor and superb lecture ,, and actually that is what makes the students better writer and develops interest for the subject.

Really a fantastic teacher. She is not as funny as she thinks she is, but she brings a huge amount of enthusiasm to the class that makes it much easier to get through. Grading is designed to make it hard to fail, however an A takes work and is not easy. Helpful beyond belief and extremely kind and understanding

Took online. Compassionate professor, helpful and understanding. Pretty clear with coursework,expectations, due dates and assignment instructions. Made Brit Lit Neo classical less brutual. A bit of a slow grader but uncertain if its due to circumstance or is always the case. Responds quickly to emails! Worth taking!

Great teacher. This course requires a lot of reading and writing assignments every week. The textbook is virtual and free. You only have to pay for the online access code which is $15 or $30. Take this professor you will not regret it.

Most devoted and best English teacher at HCC! Responds to e-mails quickly. A lot of assignments, but grades easy so if you do all the work you will get an A. One discussion a week to respond to and only short stories. Everything is online and no textbook is needed.

Easy A! The amount of work is a bit heavy but it is very easy. Although Professor Belz does not post the grades of each assignment, there were many assignments that allowed me to bring my grade up. There is much online interaction with other students which I liked very much.

I wasn't sure if I was ready to take this class. It turns out she's a great teacher and I really enjoy how the class is set up. There's an assignment list for the whole semester and that makes it easier to stay on track. If you're not familiar with grammar this class gives you a chance to relearn. The papers also are short (750-1000 words).

This is one of very few "must take professors". The class is engaging and fun. You'll learn a lot. She does assign a ton of reading and homework, so be aware of that when enrolling in her course. Mrs. Belz is the most helpful teacher I have ever came across. She will answer EVERY question you have! The hardest aspects of the class were the 1500word Research paper, and reading the 300page book "The Scarlet Letter". There is alot of work that must be done. I wouldnt say it was an easy A. Do your work and you should be good. Do not be lazy!

Best English prof ever. I would not say her class was easy but if you do all of the assignments and turn it in online, you will pass with an A. I enjoyed being in her class. Every knowledgeable she is and helpful.

Mrs. Belz was a GREAT teacher. I absolutely loved her class. She takes time out to help you, she was always super energetic, she is loud, full of hype, and has a smile that could either make you happy or terrified because you know she is about to do pop quiz you... Despite that last part, I would gladly take her class again.

If you can get into her class, do it. Be warned that she assigns a lot of work, but if you keep up, your hard work will be rewarded by a good grade and an amazing learning experience. Please take this professor if it is the last thing you do!!!

My favorite teacher of all times. I have taken all my literature classes with Mrs. Belz. Her teaching style is very different but in a good way. I graduated in 2010 and still miss her up to this day.

amazing lectures & instructions are clear, easy to follow . Helpful and gives good feedback .Make sure that you follow the schedule with submission,gives completion grades that really boost your grade. Professor Belz was not only very inspirational, but also gave amazing lectures. Made the class easier for someone like me who has always struggled with English.

This lady is the most sweetest energetic person I ever meet please take her she does assign lots of home work but just make sure you complete every assignment I learned a lot taking this class for the summer she taught me how to be a better write I will take again

I took years ago but I have not forgotten her teaching instructions. She was very thorough in guiding to excel in her class. I ended up taking a literature class and I passed very well. Please do not be scared of the work, just think about how the material you are learning will help when you undertake your major. I miss her very much!

I took her 8 week summer course. She does not give super long readings, or anything that is hard or takes a long time. Lots of easy work, so as long as you keep up and participate, you'll do fine. Easy A+.

Knows how to instruct well , very clear but if you take her hybrid class be prepared to have a BUCK LOAD of work but I passed with A it all depends on how much effort you put in

Prof. Belz is an amazing professor. She gives you the list of all assignments at the beginning of the semester. She responds quickly, and gives great feed back. She wants to see all of her students succeed. If you do the work, you will pass. Her course load may seem heavy but if you list all of your assignments & the due dates, you will be fine.

I took her 8 week class for fall 2017. I really enjoyed her class. She is the best English teacher I have taken at HCC. I highly recommend her. The work load is a lot but you CAN do it. She is very organized as well. Good luck !

I usually hate English classes but she made this class fun and i likes the short stories she picked for the class to use to base are papers on. Easy A come to class and get the work done she doesn't ask for much.

Best teacher of all time. Her class is very simple. All you have to do to pass with an A is to: do class discussions on her short stories, take grammar exams, and write a few essays . If you do all of that you good, she is a very chill and laid back person. Just don't talk while she talks.

She's very energetic and stays on point with what is being taught. If you do not know how to correctly use proper grammar or create a paper, you will be knowledgeable when taking her class.

Wow this professor is really amazing , she actually teaches you the college format of writing a paper if it wasn't for her I wouldn't have gotten an A on my history paper (for prof campano)

Excellent Professor. She really cares about you and helps you a lot to achieve good grade. Just follow the instructions and do the work.

Took her for first 8 weeks. Seems like a lot of stuff; class discussions, readings, essays, grammar exams. However if you spread them out during the week, you'll be good. Grades essays at the end of the semester, provides all the readings for free. Don't miss class! you get group assignments and she takes attendance. I'm taking her again for 1302!!

The best professor ever. English was never an easy subject for me, but she made it fair and an easy A course. If I would ever had to take any other english course, it would be with her. Take this professor and you would never regret. She has short stories that are really interesting.

I enjoyed the class discussions the most. The topics for essays were good. Do not miss class. I liked some of the story selections and went on to read on my own works from one of the authors.

Took her for American Lit. I in Fall 2018, and let me tell you, she's the best English professor. Funny, caring, and is an overall wonderful professor. She truly wants everyone to excel in life, especially in this class. She does short stories, class discussions, and great content. Follow instructions and you're good : to go

Good prof, makes class engaging, and is friendly. Lots of HW. Grading takes time, sometimes you would be on HW 3 or 4 waiting for HW 1 feedback. Can contact via email but would take 4 to 5 days to reply. Fair grader. Pay attention and do the work and you will get an A. Don't miss assignments .

Although it was quite stressful due to it being an 8 week class, it was also the easiest class I had taken. I had a 100 on literally every assignment without putting too much effort, the whole class seems to be a completion grade rather than what is actually written by the students. She gave clear step by step instruction. She also email back fast.

Professor Belz was truly the most helpful professor I have ever met, she always replied to my e-mails ASAP and helped me find ways to undo my mistakes. When taking her course, all you have to do is participate! if you do make a mistake, just e-mail her right away and she'll be there to help :) i was truly amazed with her kindness

Professor Belz is AWESOME. I took her ENGL 1301 8 weeks class and it was not hard at all. She truly cares about her students passing and gives every opportunity to do so. You will not regret taking her class.

Professor Belz is a true gem, as long as you meet the deadlines and consider the rubrics you will be fine. she is not a tough grader, replies to the email very promptly. will work with you if you have any problem you just have to communicate. I took the online class there were 3 essays, 1 final exam essay, few discussions and grammar tests.

She is the best. Take her class. Two full essays. 5 Journals, 4 discussions.

Professor Belz is really funny! No, really... she is funny and loud but I liked that. She makes you comfortable in class. She responds to emails fast. The only thing I don't like about this class is that it can be a little confusing at times for all the instructions you have to follow for her assignments. And also there's a lot of them.

Professor Belz is amazing. The four discussions are the biggest part of the grade. I got a very easy B; I missed a discussion post so that's on me lol. She responds to every single email, sometimes at 11:00pm, she is that dedicated! There's no such thing as a stupid question to her. If you want an EASY A with a wonderful professor, take her!!

This Professor is AMAZING, like for real the best professor ever, you don't have to od anything extra to pass her classes just do the work even if it's not perfect she still gives you credit as long as you do something. BEST ENGLISH PROFESSOR AT HCC.

I took her hybrid class this semester, and she was amazing. Her grading criteria are clear. The assignments are kind of unorganized because she puts 80% of the assignments on mywritinglab; however, she explains the assignments in detail when you meet her for the in-person class. She is always available to answer queries.

This Professor is really amazing, I have taken her hybrid course and, I had the chance to meet great people due to the amazing group work at the end of every class, and her lectures are really fun to listen to, Honestly, I couldn't ask for more this professor is a true gem! I 100% would recommend her.

Professor Belz is a fantastic professor. She uses MyWritingLab because it costs $50 as opposed to making us pay $300 for the textbooks. She's super funny, makes you comfortable in class, and is very passionate about teaching. I took her Hybrid online 8-week class and the workload is very light, so I'd imagine it'd be even easier as a 16-week class.

As long as you show up and do the work then you shouldn't have a problem with Mrs. Belz.

Professor Belz is literally the best! She is super understanding if for some legitimate reason you missed a quiz or a paper she will let you redo without penalty. Replies to email fast and super helpful. However her class is very hard and a lot of work! Many grammar quizzes and papers so be ready to work hard to earn an A!

Professor Belz is very warm and understanding. Her happiness and love for what she does reflects in her teaching and gives students the confidence to easily make it through the endless essays and the demanding assignments in the class.

Took 8 week class, seems like a lot and it is but the professor makes it doable and walks you through it all. 5 grammar exams, 2 big essays, mandatory discussion posts, there are readings, and a few 500 word essays. Very nice and talkative teacher.

Took her for 1301&1302 in 8wk hybrid. 5 grammar quizzes & few short discussions all assignments submitted to MyWritingLab. Short essays (500-1000) & she gives us head starts. Group project every class. Midterm essay is easy & she gives you a list of possible questions & what quotes answer them. Final is 500 word essay on ur experience in the class.

Professor Sabrena is so sweet and understanding. She tries her best to give you the best shot at succeeding. I finish her class with 100, 7 discussions, most of work is done on mywritinglab, there's a few essays that you will need to write according to her instructions make sure to follow them carefully and read the instruction/ she respond quick!

Took her for 1301 so I took her again for 1302. Amazing teacher, easy grader and definitely takes the time to help you out. One of the best professors at this school. 3 essays, 7 discussions, 5 grammar exams

Took Professor Belz for the summer. Majority of our work was done in MyWritingLab. She is a very easy grader, very understanding but it is a lot of writing and a lot to read too. 7 discussions, 3 or 4 essays but you'll be working with a partner and Final Exam was timed. It's an easy A if you do all of her assignments. They were all due the same day

Prof. Belz is great - engaging lectures, fair grading, and always available to help. Attending class is key, but the workload is manageable. unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for brushing up on concepts before exams.

I absolutely enjoyed this class! Professor Belz was amazing and interactive. She is easy to reach whenever and genuinely loves her job. I am taking her again for another class. Be warned, there is a lot of writing, but if you follow the guidelines it is easy!

Not challenging but professor is charismatic. This class focused on format and creativity instead of grammar/spelling. I like how she explained the stories plus her color coordination in her outfits are cute.

Pr. Belz is one of the few English professors who makes your life easy whether you are taking a few classes or even 7 like me, I took her course anonymously and it was the class I had the least to worry about and still ended up passing. As long as you finish all assignments properly she will give 100's for everything and grades heavy on the essays.

Professor Belz was really sweet and respectful. Never had any issues with her since she always had a bright attitude in the classroom. As long as you follow her writing guidelines and do the work, you should be successful in her course.

I was really worried about this class since English is my third language, but I did well. If you follow her instructions and don't cheat/AI, you'll be fine. There were a total of 4 essays (80% of the grade) instead of exams. However, she didn't grade them until the last day of the semester, so you won't really know if thats an A or an F.

Fun and great. Workload wasn't bad but her class was a little boring at times. I love her personality.

English is not my first language, and I took his class in an 8-week session. manageable assignments. always takes time to explain things or answer questions. Overall, if you follow his directions and put in effort, you'll do great.

I highly recommend this professor! She is incredibly kind, genuinely respectful, and always supportive. Her teaching style creates a positive and comfortable learning environment. She's also very understanding and allows late work, which takes a lot of stress off and shows how much she values real learning over strict deadlines.

Took her fall semester 2025, as expected English 2 requires way more course work than English 1, she puts out organized assignments and lets you submit in a timely manner, also very sweet lady and its understanding when it comes to missed assignments. She wants her students to succeed all you have to do is talk to her, take her in person class!
