Dr. Matsumoto was a very knowledgeable professor. He was always willing to do as many problems as needed, so that we understood. His tests were killers, but if you did all the homework (I did the book web site problems also) and came to class, it is possible to pass this class. I thought the project we did was fun too. Great teacher!

nice guy you can tell he is very passionate about math. he goes off topic but he means well. very smart guy. has an accent he stutters time to time but if you pay attention it will still be ok. willing to help gives you extra credit opportunity which is great. quizes everyday. make sure do the hwk because quiz questions comes right off the hwk.

This guy is a TOP CLASS math teacher. He's defiantly one of the best probably because the way he teaches. Everyday he gives daily quizs with 2 questions on it and they are simple and keep your mind fresh for the test. i really enjoy this guy. he makes the classes as interesting as possible and if you are actually into learning something about the application of math, then you might find him interesting. he tries his best and accomplishes what most other teachers don't even come close to. he is by far one of the best math teachers i've ever had, very helpful.

Dr. Masumoto was is a great professor.His class is a real college level course. Perfect for older students or students who are actually interested in learning. He doesn't take attendance but good luck if you don't take notes or do the homework. If you make the effort he will work with you to pass. Love his math t-shirts.

great teacher. take notes and attend the lectures and you should be fine. tests are just that. if you do the homework and his sample tests you should be fine. granted the sample tests aren't exact copies but it should help. lecture is not as dull as other teacher's and really takes time to make sure you understand every concept.

Dr. Matsumoto is a great math professor. His notes are great for studying and as long as you do all the homework, you'll do fine on his tests. Best math professor I've had so far at COC. I'd take him again without question.

Dr. Matsumoto is an excellent teacher. He makes everything very easy to understand, and trust me, Calculus is not easy to understand. But in his class, everything is crystal clear and he loves to help. I highly recommend.

I've been at COC for a while now, and took almost all the math courses offered. Pr. Matsumoto is the BEST teacher, i absolutely love him. He made calc 3 so easy, it was ridiculous. If any of you have a chance to take it with him, take him! Will be the best learning experience you will ever have.

I've taken this math course at coc a bunch of times and have run into some pretty lousy teachers. But FINALLY i struck gold and took Matsumoto for math 070 and passed! If anyone has the opportunity to take him you should, he's so low key, super understanding, and actually wants his kids to pass. He was awesome!

Great professor no Doctor in mathematics. Math is not my field but he makes it so clear anyone can understand. I Highly recommend him for anyone struggling with math. He is funny as well as intelligent. Its to bad he doesn't teach statistics..

Like everyone has said, INCREDIBLE math teacher. Assigns a fair amount of hw and tests are fair, as long as you actually DO the hw and understand it. Keep yourself awake and attentive in class, and you should be fine. He's an incredible guy and fantastic teacher; does what he can to help students succeed.

He is the nicest professor you can ever have! You will never regret taking a class with him. He is better for higher division math classes. His tests are pretty reasonable based on what he lectures in the class also, before every test he gives a pretty helpful study guide. :) HE IS GREAT!

His tests are EXTREMELY difficult (of course, it's linear algebra) but I passed the class even though I thought I was on the verge of failing. He definitely teaches the information well. I learned a lot and truly understood math for the first time in my life.

I really loved how matsumoto teaches wonderful math teacher tests are a bit tricky but if you do the MANDATORY homework youll be fine he really answers any questions and one of the best Math teachers ive ever had and he has no problem helping you out with emergency's Was kinda shocked when he gave no previous tests out for a study guide though.

Absolutely the best! Not too hard and not too easy. You'll have to work hard to get that A. His test are incredibly reasonable and fair. He is always helpful and willing to answer your questions. He will never rush a section until he feels the class is ready. If he does feel like he rush it, he'll scratch it from the test. Highly recommend

Best math teacher I've had in years!! By far the best at COC. I'm not that great at math and I was still able to get a B. I did work hard for that grade, though. Keep in mind I got a C in my last 2 math classes before this one. Awesome person and really nice!!

Took him for intermediate algebra, precalculus, and Calculus 3. Simply put, he is the best math professor at the school. Very little flaws in his teaching style.

Great professor! Had to retake college algebra and did good on all my tests mainly because he actually taught the material. Also started a new job this semester and he was still willing to work with me on days I couldn't make it to class. Very friendly man and would recommend him to anyone.

Matsumoto is the best math teacher I've ever had. I have now taken him for Calculus 3, Linear Algebra, and Discrete Structures and recieved an A in all 3. Extremely helpful, post lecture notes on his website which he constantly updates. Lectures are an elegant masterpiece. Tests are fair, study the notes and the homework and you're good. Overall A+

Outstanding math professor. He was able to introduce the concept of Calculus in a very meaningful way and its application in everyday life. This is a difficult subject, so do not expect an easy A, homework is essential to passing as well as taking time everyday to complete the hw and study the material from his notes. 5 tests none are dropped.

His lectures are clear and easy to follow along with. He prepares you very well for his midterms and finals with study guides and checklists. He also posts his lectures and any other available worksheets online. I enjoyed his class a lot and he wants his students to succeed and do well.

Best math teacher I've ever had & so funny! Class is pretty easy, bc u dont need to do a bunch of probs to get an A, its mostly memorization of concepts, proofs, etc. Lectures are amazing bc they simplify& cover all the important things from the textbook! hes very caring and will help you if things come up (e.g flat tire before exam, rounding, etc)

Very nice and chill guy! Quite understanding and shows you exactly what you need to know. Sometimes he can be a bit quiet and mumble and tell boring jokes, but that's not a problem at all! Made my math class my favorite part of the day despite math being my least favorite subject. Homework amount is reasonable and doable.

Prof Matsumoto is the easiest math professor I have ever had at COC. He is also caring, engaging, genuine, and enthusiastic. Great professor, I heard his online classes are awful but that's not true at all, he changed his homework system now, he provides answer key. Don't even consider any other profs. TAKE MASTUMOTO! He's so nice and he is so clear about what he is asking of you. His lectures were prerecorded and you can easily watch them at 2x the speed. So much less stressful than other math classes. HW was the easiest out of every prof I've had and he shows u his work. Easy tests if you followed along

The was the best math class I've ever taken. He really cares about the students and tries to make it the least stressful possible. Homework wasn't even graded on right or wrong, just on completion. The lectures are all prerecorded and you can make the playback speed faster or slower depending on your needs. Definitely reccomend him!

Absolutely phenomenal professor, he makes sure to let you know that he loves what he teaches and that goes such a long way. Very enthusiastic about answering questions, even gave me a couple pts on a HW for asking a question he really liked, and he adjusted his notes to account for what he told me for other students to see. Outstanding teacher. I haven't taken a math class in 17 years. I was able to easily follow his lectures and understand the content by doing his homework assignments. He is also easy to contact and offers great feedback.

Professor Matsumoto was one of my favorites at College of the Canyons! His Math 100 course taught me so many interesting concepts. His lectures explain every lesson well. He has extra credit available also. One of the most important things is that he teaches you stuff you will use in everyday life. Would definitely recommend taking this professor!

Professor Matsumoto is a great instructor that wants students to do well. If you are struggling he will work with you. The exams are good mix of multiply/ true or false questions and math problems. I would highly recommend him to anyone, especially students that struggle with math.

Wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Matsumoto for Calc III and I imagine he structures all classes similarly. Tests don't attempt to trick students, material is geared toward meaningful conceptual understanding, and the professor makes himself available and gets feedback/test scores to you promptly. He's excellent at teaching the conceptual side of things rather than just teaching an equation. He really wants you to LEARN the material not memorize it. He is caring, very nice, and passionate about the subject. Tests focus on conceptuality and applying an idea rather than messy tricky calculations. Would 100% recommend for Calculus classes.

Although I did not take his class, the Professor that I took used his lectures. Math has always been my nemesis. Professor Matsumoto is a great instructor that wants students to do well, which you can tell in his lectures. I would highly recommend him to anyone, especially students that struggle with math.

He is awesome. I was very intimidated initially but as long as you listen to his lectures you will be fine. He gives you every opportunity to pass if you just apply yourself. You can also tell how much he loves math and teaching. He gives practice tests too so there are no surprises. Take him if you can!

I have never had a teacher that got as excited about doing math then matsumoto. He has a lot of energy during lectures, gives several opportunities to make up points as well. A really nice and caring guy who made Calc I seem way easier!

Great professor! One of the best online setups I have had. Super clear. Print the schedule, notes, and watch the lectures and I think anyone can do great. The practice tests and video corrections were great too.

I did not take his class, however, his lectures are great. I used his uploaded hybrid Math 213 lectures for the Math 213 class I was in instead. I am giving this rating because I was practically watching the same exact videos as the students who were in his class did.

Made calc fun! He is very passionate and hilarious. Videos at home were great, but barely able to ask questions in class. At times, lacked step by step solving, and were more conceptual. Tests are identical to practice test. Beware of conceptual questions. Gives good partial credit. Definitely need to study, even as someone who easily gets math.

The classes only difficulty is it being hybrid which was defiantly a hurdle for me, but overall he is a well rounded professor who gives good partial credit, is understanding, and has great lecture videos that he posts on YouTube. Very nice and approachable during office hours and tests aren't to difficult and are similar to the test reviews.

For someone that doesn't like math, I think this was a great online class. Definitely watch the lectures and print the notes. It might seem annoying, but made understanding math so easy and he has a great personality in his videos. Answers are given for notes and hw. He really cares about you learning. Written work for hw and quizzes is required.

If you ever get the chance to take one of his class, DO IT! this is by far this best teacher i have ever had and its clear that he really cares about his students. i am someone who isn't great at math but his notes and lectures are so helpful and this class lets you work at your own pace up until test.

AWESOME CLASS. I took his self-paced hybrid class, where you learn at your own pace and attend class only once a week. With 23 units this semester, this extra time allows me to pursue other courses. He promptly responds to emails, even at 11 pm. Tests are straightforward, and he provides helpful reviews. Achieving an A is easy.

Prof Matsumoto is THE BEST like he actually cares about teaching stuff that you will use later in life, he's such a sweetheart and he actually cares about his students. He gives great lectures, i never watch online lectures but his are so clear and explain stuff so easily. TAKE HIS CLASS you wont regret it!!

I think he is a really great profesor, his lecture videos are fun and go over the material at a good pace. His module set up is clear and easy to navigate and he is up to date on his announcements. The class is made simple and is flexible to schedule needs. I would take this class again.

Cannot recommend him enough for Calc 3! His lectures are so detailed and understandable; he made the content digestible. Tests make up a majority of your grade; homework is mainly meant for extra practice. If you have questions, he responds quickly and explains things really well. In short, Matsumoto is the GOAT.

The class is hard, but Matsumoto makes it manageable. He prepares you for exams really well even in a hybrid class, and truly makes the subject interesting. 10/10, one of the best professors I've ever had.

I like Matsumoto a lot. His videos are awesome, it's clear he loves math, loves helping students learn. However, be warned in Math211, 96% of your grade depends on tests. Homework the entire semester is only worth 2% of your grade! If you don't test well, you have no chance to make up your grade through homework or attendance. Be careful.
