I like this prof. He goes over the material for the class well. At times people don't understand and he trys to re present it diffently. He says that if you show up to class and participate, do the HW and take all tests you are going to get at least a "C". You can't beat that with other physics profs. His tests are a direct reflection of the HW.
Just pay attention to his lecture and slides, and the book sometimes helps too. Do the work because his tests greatly reflect them. Take his lab too! It's fun and easy! Projects are a easy (tho tendency to procrastinate is high). His class is easy AND educational. Have fun!
Has the most blank stare that screams, "I don't care about this class."Seems to know nothing but the precise words of his Powerpoints which he will reread in response to any and all questions.Makes no effort to understand your questions.Unorganized.Unhelpful.Expectations poorly defined.Just putting in time. His class will put you at a disadvantage.
A difficult course that Mr. Okumoto provides good analogies and strategies to help tackle it down. He is also a very flexible and lenient grader. The best part of the class were the project competitions. They provide a fun hands-on learning perspective to the lecture material. For exams, study lectures and mini-drills, not the online homework.
This professor provides many powerful learning tools, for example he quizes on a chapter before the lecture, which insures that you have read it and created a foundation about a new topic and will have questions, then he goes over it in class. I found this very useful and retained a lot without studying hard.
The math is ridiculous. He goes over it too fast and then expects you to do it immediately for grading and the final is different. He's better than Prof. Bochicchio, but make sure you have Calc III and Linear algebra before you take the class and that you do extremely well in them. I reccomend you take the class at City or Mesa.
Do not underestimate physics at Miramar!! I came in thinking it would be cake, but we did tons of work in this class. The good news is that I really feel like I learned a lot and O****oto made everything so interesting. Make sure you pass drills as they are the major portion of your grade!!! PS...he thinks death is amuzing. Disturbed.
This professor is interesting. If you just wanna take a physics class and get a C, he is the man for you but if it is ur world. Do not take him. He has these silly class projects like paper bridges, ballon drops and a research paper. He doesnt have enough examples and he gives these take home problems that even tutors cant figure out and then you t
He is pretty quarky but easy class. Pay attention in class and takes notes and you will do well. He lets you use notes for all tests and exams.
80% class time is him quickly flashing through slides. 20% is lab. You will hardly be able to take down notes before he goes onto the next slide. Expect a quiz on the slide material the same day. He wants participation, but is condescending, lazy and doesn't explain anything in detail. He rarely shows how to solve a prob instead just gives the ans.
Much better teacher than Gina. Midterm/Final are only 15% of grade, so you could not even attend them and possibly get a B in the class. Tests are difficult but not too difficult, they are open note. Labs and "Levels Of Knowledge" (like quizes) are where your points come from. make sure to bring all your LOK's to the tests.
He has a really interesting method which I found very good and easy. Take his drills and attendance points seriously and you will be fine and take really good notes because you can use them on the tests.
I spent most of the first few weeks thinking "What is this guy's deal?!" He is a bit quirky. If you're in class and take solid notes, that will help you so much. You need 2 do the daily drills! You'll have a few papers to write. He tries 2 get you to think about how your major (if it isn't astro) fits into astro, which is kind of cool.
He is AWESOME. You do not need the book for Astro 101, but you do for His lab 111. The homework is "extra credit" for the tests but it helps to understand the topic. He will stay after class & help you figure it out if you have questions. His additional assignments include making videos "commerical" & a dramatic scene related to astronomy topics.
He doesn't let you use your notes anymore, but only four three by five inch cards. His Level threes are very hard. You have to participate in class to get more points. Wish he were easy.
Very Unorganized teacher!
he gives fairly little homework encouraging you to do your own studying if you need more help. wtih relative effort you'll get a B in his class but don't expect an A unless you willing to go all out
things didnt change much but definitely go all out the lv 3s because every lv 3 you earn is a grade SAVER. once again little hw, and pull out all the stops for an A
professor okumoto is the best!!! physics is a very hard subject but he makes it easy and takes his time to make sure you understand it.. he even makes sure you know how to use you calculator! he's nice and there's not that much work for the class. i have taken ALL of my physics classes with him and you should do the same ;]
Very easy teacher that sticks to teaching the main parts of the subject that matter. Doesn't make you learn the useless details. Show up to class, take notes,do well on the quizzes at the end of the day(which are faily easy and count as extra credit for the test), and you are guaranteed a B. An A takes a 6 page book report.
His class is the most terrible mistake I have ever done. He is extremely wierd and unorganized. He is very vague in grading, and his projects are extremely stupid.
Plenty of fun times in all three terms. I don't know why people rate him as unorganized his lectures are online, he goes by powerpoint, and he gives problems that will tell you whether you should be doing anything physics related. Maybe it is people who can't handle the no workload he gives out. Thank you for everything Oku. Finally got the A
My bf didn't do the video projects, hw, OR the art project, and he come out with a C. I did them all and I came out with a C...I don't get it. His class is boring, it's easy not to fail. I'm pissed by the whole grading. It seems when students ask him questions he gives a one word answer. Whatever. He doesn't even make his test it's printed.
the Worst teacher I have taken. I've been straight A for my entire college life but when I took his class, I had no idea what's going on. As the result, I dropped it after the first day. If you want to learn something in Physics, take someone else. This one is not worth to waste your time and money in. Once again, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME taking
Worst teacher ever! essay test, refuses to answer questions in class, taught from power point does not work problems out, too much work; in-class assignments, quizzes (worth 40%) are given the same day as it was taught no notes, lab reports, original research, projects.
The positive comments in this section totally deceived me. This guy freaking sucks.... He makes you do so much busy work and everything is like a game to him. We have to fight our peers to get a good grade through participation. TOO many lame projects.. and research paper is a pain. WORST PHYSICS TEACHER EVER. DONT TAKE HIM
Easy class. Stay engaged. Fun activities. Not field trips, but seeing planets is great.
Some of the stuff he says is interesting but his mind always seems to be off somewhere else. Dont ask him a question because you will get a one word answer. The only way to get an A is by doing a book report besides that it is very easy to get a B.
I have to admit I grumbled loudly the entire semester. In retrospect I wish I would have enjoyed his class more. He has a lot of assignments but they are fun and you will learn something from them. Keep up on all your assignments, show up to all the classes, participate and you will at least get a B. Great class.
Overall a good teacher for a moderate subject. Class attendance is pretty much mandatory as there are daily quizes (Levels), with opportunities for retakes. Course material is broken down into small logical pieces so students aren't overwhelmed. The labs are pretty straight foward and are interactive to reinforce lecture. Definately recommended.
I really enjoyed learning about physics from Professor Okumoto, he is really interested in making the material easy to understand. If you do not understand something, you must stop and ask questions, otherwise you will just be lost. I would definitely take him again.
I am surprise how low his rating is. He explains everything well. He cares about his students. He is kind and always ready to help. He made physics an interesting subject. Seriously if u do not do well on physics with prof. Okumoto, u need to change your major, because he was really a good prof. I highly recommend him to every one.
His grading system is really bad. One student gives an entire paragraph about what he did to solve the problem but he solved it wrong but still gets the question right. I solve the problem just like he did but I give a straight to the point assessment and it is considered wrong even though we did our solution the same way. How is that a fair grade?
Amazing professor. His test setup is the easiest thing ever. Basically, if you do well on the in class tests you don't have to take them for the final exam. As cliche' as this sounds, attend his lectures and listen in class and you'll do fine. Easiest physics class I've ever taken.
Getting an A in this class is absurdly easy. Rather than give exams, he gives a question at the end of each lecture that you answer. If you don't get that then you have a second chance later in the semester. Unfortunately, he can move kind of fast and he makes students basically compete for participation credit. So, answer as many ?'s AS POSSIBLE.
Test everyday at the end of the lecture. Not much homework and can survive without reading the text. Labs are simple. Passing his course is very simple. Only issue with the prof is that I had lung surgery during the semester and he denied me any opportunity to make up missing points which I think is ridiculous.
I don't recommend him. I had to teach myself the material. He is very unhelpful and berated students for asking questions, even calling us lazy and unintelligent. I couldn't believe it! It seemed like he hated his job. However, his daily tests were not too difficult and the labs were easy. You have to write one paper and build projects for lab.
Although his unique teaching style makes it easier to pass the class, his poor attitude and lack of clarity create an environment not conducive to learning physics. Rather than teaching the material accurately, he teaches an "abbreviated" version of it. He actively berates the students for merely not understanding the material he attempts to teach.
I do not recommend taking this professor, by any standard. His classes are inappropriately paced, and he insults/says condescending things to students. Avoid him if at all possible. He hardly teaches the subject and his classes have horrible structure. At times, he is known to skip important lessons and prematurely test on them.
He is a very easy teacher but if you actually want to learn something do not take this class. Any time you ask questions he makes you feel stupid and tells you its common sense when no one in the class is understanding the same subject. Its very frustrating getting help from this professor.
I got 195 two times with him, first I falled and second time got B. basiclly he is not teaching, he just do review, so you have to study before the class, quiz almost every day which is cover a lot of your grade. He seems nice but his method is totally wrong. Physics is hard and he tries to make it harder.
He treats the class like a game, purposely making it difficult to get more than a C. He consistently talks down to students, who simply don't understand his "unique" teaching method. He doesn't actually teach the material and his labs are a joke. I would advise staying away from this guy. He thinks the class is a big competition.
A lot of students don't like he's way of teaching because he expect students to actually DO something. Most students just want easy, on those students will not pass and will not likely be ready in real life. Really, just read the chapter every week, no need to fully understand the chapter, then go to the class. Do quiz, if failed can always retake
He has a good teaching system but goes way to fast. He breaks down a problem in its simplest form & progressively makes them harder. Everything he tests on, he has shown in class. He stresses understanding principles and critical thinking not memorization of a problem. Only problem is he makes students feel stupid when they get a problem wrong.
your grade in this class is 90% short quizzes at the end of almost each class. If you're taking this class with a friend find a good spot where you could work on the problem together, just don't make it known to the teacher that you're working together. Was a very easy B, work a little more and an A is very possible
Professor Okumoto has a very unique teaching method that I really like. Physics is a hard subject, especially Physics 195. There are so much materials to cover, so don't expect it to be a slow and easy class. I was a shy student, but his participation system really got me out of my shell. That was his intention, to make you a better student.
Professor Okumoto's nice and passionate about Physics. I learned so much about troubleshooting through his projects. I'm not going into engineering, but gained good skills in class. Just attend class, take good notes and spend quality time in the lab! You won't have to spend much time at home later on. Overall he's a good Physics teacher.
Okumoto forces you to learn vs. teaching you. He's like, "Read Chap 10." Next class you're drilled on chap. 10. But you get several extra credit opportunities. He wants people to pass with an A. He wants you to earn it though. Hit his office hours and get he philosophy on teaching. He'll give you important tips on what to study in advance.
1. Lecture each day 2. Mini test (1 question usually) after each lecture and you can use the lecture notes to answer the question 3. Mini tests have a designated hardness level of 1, 2, or 3 4. Missed level 1 and 2 tests are retaken on designated days 5. Level 3 retakes are on the final 6. Barely any homework 7. 1 research project (easy)
He's nice but he can't even solve a simple calculus question and his lessons are very confusing. Easy A but you barely learn anything.
Okumoto makes you do stuff like research and competitions for extra credit. That's awesome. People want good grades but don't want to read the book. He's a real college professor. He gives you levels to make sure you have the aptitude to solve complex problems. He puts lots of emphasis on knowing concepts, he doesn't really care about the numbers.
His understanding of relativity was backwards; he 'found' a local charge config. whose E-field went down as 1/r; thought E-field is the positive slope of potential. He is disinterested and smug. Shining example of how teachers' knowledge regresses over time. If you care, learn from a good book (Purcell or Griffiths) and play his class like a game.
Comes off as smug, Lab instructions are unclear and don't follow printouts. Novel grading system sets you up to fail. SL's are often given immediately after a lecture presented. Miss 3 or more and you won't have time to complete the test. Lecture drills often based on false assumptions and too fast. Its too bad he's the best phys prof on campus.
At first I was so confusing about his teaching style, but after you following his system, you will get it. His lab is so fun, I love his Lab. He is a easy teacher. Overall, I will 100% take him again for my physic 196.
His class is challenging, in that his style is different. He's passionate about Physics, and he's very much supportive of students who also enjoy Physics. I came out of this class feeling satisfied I had learned a lot about Physics and how to be a better student. If you keep on top of your work and the class, not hard, you won't have any problems.
He tells you how the class runs on the first day. His system is nice because it allows you to focus on other classes. The better you do on his drills the more he will like you and give you a check on your levels. Most drills are directly from the textbook's exercises and problems section. Get pics of all levels to study for tests! He deletes them!
Good dude
Probably the worse teacher on the face of the earth. I'll give it to him- he has good intentions and wants us to learn but he has no idea how to teach. He goes over the lecture extremely quick and then tests you on it at the end of class. He's extremely condescending and doesn't care if he get the concepts or not. AVOID at all cost.
One of the worst professors in college , he even can not solve a simple calculus problem and the lectures on his class is not clear enough and he goes fast without enough explaining, do not take this course with him because you will learn nothing in his class.
had him since phys 195. Didn't like him at first bc the class always seemed to become a cockfight for participation points but I grew to appreciate it bc I've never had a more interactive sciencemath class. really recommend reading the book before lecture if you want to follow along in lecture. class is always interesting and def an easy A
Expect varying level (1-3) of difficulty of a "one question quiz" at the end of every lecture. The labs and projects in the class for 196 was enjoyable I'll admit that--mainly were electroniccircuit hands on. Downside to this class is that if you have any questions or anything from Okumoto, he will either not respond or say something spiteful.
He's very condescending when you ask him a question. But there are one-question "levels" everyday that substitute for the exams if you pass them.
Condescending to the dummies, but make no mistake, you WILL have to work for this class. The after-lecture "levels" he gives (notes allowed) makes it easy to get out of taking exams, but you actually have to pay attention and study a little bit on your own. Don't ask stupid questions. 1 late level can be turned in, don't skip class.
This Japanese guy is going to be the worst professor you will most likely meet in the your college years. This guy does not believe in teaching, helping students, encourage students and he has no mercy at all. He only believes in genius and he will talk you down to the ground. AVOID THIS CLASS IF YOU ARE NOT A GENIUS, hard working doesn't get you A
Extremely condescending. Takes points off your overall grade if u want to know your grade in the class. Worst prof Ive taken by far. Doesn't like to answer questions that students have. There's been times where he doesn't feel like working out a problem on the board. Speeds through lecture then you have a "level" at the end of class. Dont take him.
He is TOUGH & hard to understand sometimes, but there is so much material to cover in this class, his method of teaching is very efficient and straight forward. You have a level (basically a quiz) at the end of every lecture about the lecture with open notes/calculators & if you answer correctly you don't have to answer that question on the exam.
Great professor! His lectures are efficient although fast, teaches you the essential concepts, relates physics well to real world examples. Not an easy A, you'll have work for it. Provides some opportunity for competition and creativity in lab. In-class "level I/II/III" quizzes at the end of most classes. Emphasis on main concepts and solving.
If you actually try and aren't always on your phone or having a conversation with the person next to you or complaining, you'll be fine. Yes the bad reviews are true. His catchphrase is "even a 5th grader could do it." To get an A, you need at least 6 level 3's and full points on everything else. DON'T CHEAT!!! He takes it very seriously.
His lectures are great. At the end of each lecture there is a 1 question test to see if you were paying attention. Homework is open ended. Guidelines for projects are not thoroughly explained or enforced. He is available during office hours. Condescending? yes. Understand that's his attitude and don't take it personal. Students are too sensitive.
Be Aware, automatically deducts 5% of your grade if you do not answer the most questions in class the whole semester. Only one student can get that 5%.
Best quantum mechanics teacher this side of the Delaware river. It will make your head spin, or should I say, electron!
His grading is confusing to say the least. Most of the time you aren't sure what he is requiring of you. If you can find people who have take his other classes talk to them, they will help you figure out what he wants done. If you can figure out what is required of you and show up to EVERY CLASS you stand a good chance of getting a good grade.
Okumoto is a very smart man, but not very helpful when it comes to asking questions. To pass this course you MUST go to lecture every single day and at the end of class he provides a quiz. If you pay attention during lecture you are pretty much guaranteed to pass this class, that simple. Labs aren't too bad and he is very clear on grading.
I know Professor Okumoto does not have a good rep. And honestly, as far as science goes I learned more from other Physics professors I took. I took PHYS 197 with him. His class is not math heavy, and he makes the concepts easier than they are. But he teaches an irreplaceable for an engineer skill of problem solving through projects and labs.
Warning, Don't take this professor. Very tough grader, will mark quizzes down for simple mistakes. But if your one for learning everything on your own than you will be fine because this prof does not care if the students learn or not, horrible teacher.
Good teacher and an easy grader. Doesnt keep droning on about one topic as much as your other options. I got credit for many wrong answers for understanding the gerneral concept. Hes not very nice if you fall too far behind though.
He is mostly fair and not too difficult. He often gives credit if you understand the concept but get the wrong answer. He CAN be very condescending, but just don't ask dumb questions. Lectures are ok. His class is mostly "practice makes" perfect learning. Little HW. That other review saying only one student gets 5% is false - it's 5% extra credit.
Just finished taking prof. Okumoto's 195 class and honestly it was one of my most interesting and engaging lecture class. If you're a student who wants to do well, interact with the class, answer questions, provide insight, sit up front and talk with prof. Okumoto. Keep track of your own grades and HW is super easy too. He's a chill dude.
Labs: If u just DO IT u get full credit HW: If u just TRY IT u get full credit (There are only 5 HWs) Quiz: Every day after he lectures, not too bad. Pay attention in class as that is what the quiz will be on that day. If u pass the quiz u wont have to retake it on the exam. There are 4 exams and u only get tested on what u didnt get on the quizzes
never ever think to take him. He is a fairly easy B or C. However, do not expect to learn anything. Also, never ask question to him. His answer will ever be: "IDK you have to use your critical thinking" . You might get credit for the quizzes, but that does not mean that you right.
Terrible Professor and terrible attitude. I don't even know how students can tolerate his behavior. He lacks social skills and does not answer most questions. He will often answer with figure it out yourself.
Very bad experience. I used to like physics and now I hate it. he has a bad behavior and does not like to answer student's questions. Not clear with assignments.
Very boring and condescending, often very unclear & rarely answers questions (either about the material or about his assignments), often belittles his students, clearly does not proofread his powerpoints, etc. I often walked out of class knowing less than I did when I walked in. Awful teacher, I wish I had never taken him.
Absolutely not an easy class nor an easy professor. The key thing is to ASK QUESTIONS DURING LECTURE! Sitting there silently and hoping to absorb information might not be the best approach. Understand the topic as much as possible because you will be tested on it. You must show effort that lead you to being stuck instead of just asking for answers.
He uses a level system where if you pass a quiz at the end of class on the subject covered, you won't have to test on that subject for the exams or finals. He class is very conceptual, not as math heavy as I would have expected for physics. Sometimes his expectations are hard to understand. The atmosphere is fairly laid back in class.
Professor Okomoto is a well respected professor. Just read the book and show up for lecture. Do your part as a studious student and you shall get an A. Lab is so chill...I would take his class again any day. One of the best professors at Miramar.
A very nice Japanese man with huge personality that want his students learn and pass . Just study his PowerPoint before exams and you will be fine.
Just do it . He is the nicest person in the whole word. An easy A with little effort
Prof. Okumoto is good at physics but cannot teach it at all! There are quizzes after each lecture and if you don't show up, you can't make them up. If you ask questions he smirks and makes you feel like an idiot in front of the class. He gets annoyed if you dont understand. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! He is also very lazy and just sits in lab.
If you really want to learn physics then take someone else. Pretty much anyone could teach better. If you want to just pass physics then take it with him and he will be the best professor for you. Passing his class is the easiest thing to do. Getting an A might be just a bit hard. Almost impossible to get below a C unless you don't show up at all.
This professor uses the most weirdest grading criteria. Also the participation points cover up to eight percent of the grade. Take this prof. if other physics classes are full.
I was initially optimistic on this Professor but that eventually fizzled. He tends to be condescending when students are confused and ask questions. He also got into an argument with a student that made the entire class uncomfortable. Lab is completely dry. It is easy to pass the class, though I dont necessarily feel prepared for PHYS196.
Mr. Okomuto is very misunderstood. He tries his best to teach students a very hard subject. If you show up to class every day AND pay attention you will pass with an A. Some of the quizzes are on chegg and most of the homework is on chegg as well. Good luck, be sure to ask him questions and go to his office hours. Even if he sounds condescending.
This professor does not explain any concepts. He simply writes answers on the board and does not explain how he got them. He speeds through concepts and assumes everyone knows what is going on. I am halfway through physics one and hardly understand velocity and acceleration. An easy A but do not take if you want to actually learn physics.
Okumoto's class is pretty straightforward, the only way you won't pass is if you're always absent. If you can look past his somewhat condescending attitude, you'll do fine. Total of 4 HW's and 3 Exams (if you didn't pass the levels). He'll give you full credit on the labs without really even looking at them. Take him if there is no other option.
Okumoto is a great professor. You get quizzes at the end of each lecture which are easy to pass given that you have paid attention to lecture and you pass the quiz, you don't have to do that question on the final/exam. But you do have to compete with others to get the full 8% for participation. He's willing to help you out too if you ask questions.
While an easy class overall, I came out of this class feeling like I had learned next to nothing. If you want a physics professor who will actually teach, look somewhere else. Only take this class if you just need the credit.
I don't understand these past reviews about Professor Okumoto. Especially about his condescending attitude. Just be kind and be respectful to him, and he will help you with physics. He does expect you to know some calculus, especially integration. But his class was straightforward and I went to every single of his office hours and I got an A.
Professor Sadayoshi Okumoto is very good teacher. The way he teaches the class is visualization teaching. He uses a lot of power point, and he focus on free-body-diagram, but not on algebra calculation. I like his Lab class, he is really helpful in lab. Always read his lecture PowerPoint note before class, he always has quiz the end of the class.
Professor Okumoto is super easy. easy on homework, lecture assignment, and lab assignments. as long as you turn in lecture assignment, homework, or lab assignments, he will give you full credit. It is really an easy A. He is really kind and supportive during covid-19. I thank God for someone like professor Okumoto.
Professor Okumoto is the best and easiest professor I ever seen. there are a lot of homework, lecture assignments, lab assignments in this class. But he is every easy on grading. That really helps a lot during this Covid-19. It is an EASY A. TAKE HIM. I wish he would teach Phy196 or Phy197 too.
Very easy going professor with clear grading criteria. Attend each class meeting, all homework, and complete the labs for the best possible grade. Please make sure you pay attention as physics builds upon itself and the knowledge will be needed in 126. A passing grade is very doable in this class.
Participate. Participate. Participate! Active learning is 10% of your grade and you have to have at least 50% of the highest point active learner to get credit. You have one quiz every lecture and a lab due at the end of the week. Note that he seems a bit condescending but wants students to keep asking question. Not good if youre shy :/
This professor seems lazy and kind of mean. His class layout is where to its easiest for him to grade because they are 1-3 points each. A lab that takes you a few hours is not worth 1 point although they do add up. Be sure to participate because apparently he doesn't care about quiet students and only the 3 that talk in class. A bit condescending.
Very focused on participation and other work besides exams. His grading scale is pretty wack multiplies other work % by your total test points. Does not give ANY partial credit on exams/problems, and kind of expects you to know things in lecture. Assigned 2 at home labs (difficult) and 1 lab where you had to bring your own materials. Would not take
This class has the same degree of difficulty as a high school physics class. There are quizzes at the end of the class that can go toward your test grade so if you get it wrong you can try again on the test. There are only 4 hw assignments and I got well over an A with only doing 3 of them. Participation is basically extra credit.
Good lectures. He gives about a month to do a simple homework assignment. Fun labs. You don't need to be amazing at calc in this class, if you do well on the practice exams, you can get out of taking the exams and finals. Physics can be difficult to understand, but as long as you sit next to someone pretty smart and helpful, you'll be fine.
If you show up to the class, you will get an A. But you MUST show up everyday. Even though the class is an easy A, if you care about physics, you will learn a lot since the professor is a great lecturer. I was worried that the class was too easy but I was still able to recall and tutor other people after passing.
I took Professor Okumoto's class in the Spring. Pretty easy class if you show up to class for lectures, participate and ask questions. Quizzes and exams are easy as you'll have a chance to do a make-up test. Plenty of opportunities to boost your grades. Labs are generally fun with a couple of do-at-home experiments.
Not much to say. I don't think I learned anything in his class and somehow got over 100% in what is probably the hardest physics class. There is very little challenge to the course and it's very watered down. He offers a lot of extra credit which is easy. The quizzes count toward the exam so do them well and do them with others as it is allowed.
He has a really wack grading system, which takes a while to understand, but it actually makes the class much easier. There are total of 4 HW assignments, and most of the class is dependant on participation (showing up), asking questions+doing extra credit, and managing to pass/complete all of the in-class questions, assignments, and labs.
One of the best professors, very knowledgeable.196 wasn't easy, especially the quizzes. No collaboration allowed. U can earn extra credit by doing homework in advance. But it takes a while to figure out how to do it. There is no free credit for this course. You would love class as a visual or kinesthetic learner.
If you prove him wrong at anything he ends up hating on you for the rest of the semester will nitpick your exam questions, mark some wrong on purpose and will give no clear explanation, and even went as far as erase your own correct answer and rewrite in his handwriting to something which is wrong don't take him he is very petty.
Coming from a student who has taken this class and will take his class in the future. I do recommend him very highly, and I ain't talking out of my ass. If you are pursuing medicine and want a deep understanding of physics, I highly recommend you take him. Don't listen to the other comments; they're just from lazy students...
this teacher is very good
good (=^_^=)
Take this class for an easy A. He assigns post-lecture exams due in class, but if you pay attention and take notes, they're similar to examples. If you pass every post-lecture, you get to skip the tests. Labs are fun but can sometimes be time consuming. He is also a generous grader, but only if you pay attention. Participation is also important.
Professor Okumoto's class is a great option if you're looking for an engaging, participatory learning experience. While exams can be tough, the easy homework, labs, and opportunities to boost your grade make it manageable. Unstuckstudy's practice questions were super helpful for exam prep.
Class is fairly easy to get an A if you work hard and honest, don't have to be a math whiz. Show up to class, pay attention to lecture, and participate for extra cred = good grade, and might allow you to skip the exam. Lectures were a little bit lackluster to be honest but they they had the main info you're required to know for future classes
Honestly, the class has been very manageable for the majority of the semester and I like the material we've learned. You've gotta show up for every class though otherwise you miss the levels so attendance is pretty much mandatory. If you have to do the retakes reexamine the problem and look at his slides and you'll be fine. Class was okay honestly
This professor isn't the most engaged and the lectures are confusing at times, but the grading is generous for such a difficult class and the labs/projects were very fun.
Plenty of opportunities to get a good grade, difficult class no matter who you take
