to begin with this class is very hard. his tests are somewhat fair. gives review sheets; but on the test there is additional information that you need to know. doesnt go over hw (which i think would help if he did). basically u need to know your stuff before you take this class.
worst teacher in the history of math. never goes over homework...doesn't know how to teach, extremely unclear...he's just horrible
very nice professor. i don't know why these guys rate him so terrible. his explaination is really clear. he does not go over the homework. however, he gives the test reviews which will help a lot.
Excellent professor.
one of the best professors i have met
very nice professor
the best! an awesome teacher, clearly enjoys teaching. he knows how to teach the principle, not just a method of doing problems, he asks the class for feedback on his teaching to help us understand. also though he does't go over hw, he does sample prblms and gives u the understanding u need to do an
WTF He DOES post solutions for hw on his website. I'm sick of these lazy people. Zakeri is one of the best math teacher i've ever met. He KNOWS STUFF and he knows how to teach them. He loves teaching and he's dedicated. He does some hw problems in the class as examples. Don't be lazy tho.
I love this guy! He is very helpful and the class was so much fun. It is a shame most Queens College Math majors will walk away not knowing what a Fourier Transform or Series is. Good that I did not make that mistake and I walked away with an A-.
A GREAT professor indeed...One of the best math professors at Queens he is! Very helpfull and clear. The class was so much fun...ONLY 4 STUDENTS:) I wish he had come to QC earlier and I could take more advanced courses with him.
BEST PROFESSOR ONE CAN EVER POSSIBLY HAVE. HE ENJOYS TEACHING AND IS A VERY RESPONSIBLE PROFESSOR. HE IS ABLE TO MAKE BORING STUFF INTERESTING. HE KNOWS THE MATERIAL FROM INSIDE OUT.
I really admire Dr. Zakeri. He is very inspiring.
Awesome professor, will definitely take again have he teach a course I need. Explains everything clearly, focuses more on problem solving and understanding the application than the boring proofs. Highly Recommended
by far the best math teacher i've ever encountered.
when more than 50% of his class fails the exam, you kind of wonder if something is wrong with the class or is it the professor?
To quote from swapnotes.com: Make sure you're good at math before taking this course, and don't take it in place of 201 unless you plan on taking 208, since we didn't learn multiple integrals at all.
Pretty cool teacher. Very easygoing and calm. Goes pretty fast with problems on the board, and if you look down to copy it, he'll be on the next problem already. Only paradox: HOMEWORK IS OPTIONAL?! Yea it sounds great, but to anyone, "optional" means "i dont have to do it". obviously i wont learn if its not mandatory. Other than that, not bad.
Extremely Energetic Every Single Dayyyy
whoever gave this guy the hot pepper thing is smoking crack. dont take this guy, he makes easy things hard, just disgusting, made me hate math
The only thing disgusting here is someone spreading utter nonsense to blame the professor for their failure. Prof Zakeri is very knowledgeable, helpful and responsible. His lectures are crystal clear. And he does go out of his way to help students.
One of the most intelligent math prof's ive ever met, and because our class was so small (16 students) he was able to give each of us the attention we needed. He explained concepts thoroughly and made sure we understood, he also makes many jokes and is just awesome in making funny side links. I would take him 100 times if i could
Dr. Zakeri is an excellent math professor. I had him for multivariable calculus and he explains everything SOOO clearly. He takes what you learn in calc 1 and 2 and just expands it to 3 dimensions. He won't quiz you about the theory, just the applications. You can be a total idiot and still get a B in his class.
Professor Zakeri is awesome. He's really helpful and very fair. He really wants everyone to do well in his course and learn a lot. He doesn't always go over hw in class, but he always will if you ask him to. He's also almost always easy to understand and when he's not, he finds a new way to explain things. he's the man!
Great professor, probably one of te only great mah professors to have from the math department
Astoundingly clear. Excellent applications to physics. Superb handwriting, really, it cannot be paralleled.
Professor Zakeri is a good math professor, his lectures are clear and he explains if your a bit confused. He makes you kinda learn the material, since we have homework and quizzes week. Even if you think your doing a bit bad in the class, he will give a generous curve in the end. My advice is to take him, especially if calculus is difficult to you.
God, where is he getting all that energy from? His crystal-clear lectures with the use of colored chalk, his willingness to help students (as long as you ask for his help; he will not chase after you), his great sense of humor and just overall personality make him a truly great prof. Made me really like math, not like those 'scientists' from Remsen
What an amazing professor. His lectures are amazing. Makes hard concepts easy to understand and quizzes you every other week so you dont forget the important stuff. I must say he made me want to continue studying math. Exams are thoughtful but not super easy.
Anyone who dares to say that his class is difficult, should not be in college...if you study and do hws...you got an A...Now..for tests...easy if you practice some problems ....depart. tests..well that depends which professor makes the final...but overall they are not that hard...success = practice, practice...
Prof Zakeri is pretty awesome. His lectures are never dry, but a wonderful presentation of beautiful illustrations in colored chalk, motivating intros and worthwhile examples. Bc he's also a great mathematician, you'll learn little math tricks and see things from a progressive angle. He's just sooo cool :) highly recommended!!!
He is a brilliant professor. The way he teaches his awesome. He used colored chalk for better understanding of drawings. I failed this class quite a few times because of these plug and play professors. he actually taught the material. his midterms are not hard but not easy either. He made are dept final and he set us up for success.I recommend
Professor Zakeri is a truly great professor. He cares for all of his students, his tests are fair, he grades fair. His homework assignments and quizzes are a bit of work but they're just what you need to stay on top of the material. His technique makes the material crystal clear. Interesting class and he answers all questions. Highly recommended!!
A real genius. Sensitive. decent amount of h/w. Always response to your email. Tell you what he expects from you. Never look down on you b/c question is too simple. Able to switch gear if students don't understand. He is fine to repeat himself multiple times. No temper at all. The best lecturer I've had in 4 yrs.
Professor Zakeri is one of the best math professor I've ever had in Queens college. In order to get an A, all you have to do is go to class everyday, do the homework on your own. And if you are confused about something ask him(no matter how stupid the question can be).He made me fall in love with calculus. I wish I could have him for Math 151 also.
Real scholar & Educator. No intellectual pride. No questions is stupid. Prep you to learn difficult concepts. Don't miss any lectures. It saves your study time. He is by far the best in QC because of his ingenious teaching skill.
CLEAR Explanation EASY Homework (just web assign) 2 MIDTERM AND 1 FINAL QUIZ on every week
lectures are really clear and easy to understand,Exams are easy if you concentrate on the problems he solved in the class
BEST MATH PROFESSOR in Queens College I've had thus-far. His lectures are clear. Uses colorful chalk to draw all graphs/work out problems on board. 2 midterms, 8 quizes (drops the lowest one). Very talented. Cares about his students. He will do his best to help you succeed.
Prof zakeri is wonderful. The class is difficult but his passion for math makes it interesting and easy to understand. He keeps class interesting and tries his hardest to answer every question. Best math prof hands down
Really good math professor. Very straight forward, not too difficult. Problems similar to class work and homework. Won't give hardest problems. Quizzes each week are annoying but helpful in the long run.
I am a sophomore and I have yet to have a teacher as great as him. If you come to class and listen, you're great. He prepares you for every test and gives reviews. He loves what he does and it is his goal to give you an A. If you show him you care, you'll get a good grade. By far the best teacher at queens.
kind, lenient and tries his best to give the maximum possible points that he can. He is a fair grader, does not mark down heavily and knows his stuff. I wish he spent a little extra time on the examples. Sometimes skips over intermediate steps which I had to go back and try to figure out. He can SOMETIMES over-complicate simple topics.
Professor Zakeri is an awesome Professor. He explains in details everything there is to math. Practice and you will be fine. always willing to help.
Incredible instructor. I have no background whatsoever in Calculus, but left with an A simply because of how thorough his lectures were. He goes over everything in a way that practically everyone can understand. Wish he was teaching 142 because I don't think another professor can even compare. Online homework, 2 exams, and a final. Take him please!
an amazing professor!!! he clearly cares if his students understand the material and takes the time to explain tricky problems. he's constantly asking the class if we have any questions. very funny and caring. he explains the material so clearly and if you pay attention during class the midterm and final will be a piece of cake
Awesome prof. His lectures are clear and insightful. He provides review sheets for his tests which are really helpful for the real ones. There are webassign hw that you have to do every week. He encourages students to learn the reason behind each formula rather than straight up memorizing them. The finals is a bit difficult since its accumulative.
Best math prof i have taken.
If you have a question regarding a lecture at the end of the class he does not explain properly. Always in a rush to leave after lectures and does not offer tutoring if a student is struggling in his class because he is focused on his own research.
Prof Zakeri is in a class of his own. Brilliant mind and caring personality. He knows how to explain difficult stuff effortlessly from many different angles and make them look easy. He's the man!!
Great math professor, explains everything super clearly and makes sure everyone understands the material. He really knows a lot, so math is more interesting than just memorizing stuff. His chalkboard drawings are also really cool and well drawn
Prof Zakeri is a great teacher, he knows his stuff. 2 midterm, 1 final, and about 10 quizzes. A lot of homework but the quizzes and homework are there to boost your grade. Very difficult class a lot of memorization and practice required to do well. Exams are difficult but if you put 3-4 hours youre on good shape. He is there if you need help.
Best math professor in QC, explain things very clearly.
Amazing professor. Failed this class before and took him and got an A. Definitely do homework it helps. The quizzes also prepare you for the exams. Pay attention in class, do core problems and youll pass. Gives you a break in between class. Would take him for every math class if I could.
The GOAT!
Excellent professor. Love him so much.
Personally, I find Linear Algebra extremely boring. However, Saeed Zakeri made it bearable. Very passable class and not too hard to get an A either.
tests were very similar to reviews sheets and give a lot of WebAssign hw. very nice grader and gave partial credit and quizzes every week helped keep everyone on track w material and they were very easy. overall good professor and curved our class grades
Ive taken 201 with a highly rated professor before and failed. But with Prof Zakeri I did well! It really depends on the teaching style and honestly Zakeri has the best IMO. He explains every concept in detail, does SO MANY examples that helps you retain what youve learned. 3 exams, Q similar to class examples, and quizzes almost every week.
A phenomenal professor. Lectures are clear, organized, inspiring and full of insight. His ability to adjust to his audience (catering to everybody weak and strong) is truly magic. Extremely sharp and bright, yet modest and caring. I would take his classes every semester if I could.
A great teacher. Explains why it makes sense to solve problems that way, not just how to get the right answer. He always answers questions well if we have any and checks in to see that we're following. He is very organized and makes exams, recordings, notes very easy to navigate. Very nice when it comes to grading. His reviews are awesome.
HE IS AMAZING!!! TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN!!! def not an easy A like you will have to watch lectures and do the web assigns but the only HW was the weekly webassign which the class took together basically, tests are on webassign and open notes open google, he's super patient and clear and his tests are not trying to trick you, just try and you'll do well
WHAT A GUY!! Probably the best professor Ive come across in Queens College. Extremely patient, clear, and accessible. TAKE HIM IF YOUVE THE CHANCE. Youll not regret it!!
One of the kindest & most understanding professors at QC! Truly cares about his students and goes out of his way to help them. Take him!!
Really nice person & supportive. Teaches extremely well and takes you through the topics step by step with a ton of examples. 2 exams and a Final and 1 WebAssign hw every week which helped a lot for practice. The exams were also very fair and he curved based on class performance. Take him if you see him available, especially if you're a CS major
Amazing professor and amazing person. Very humble and never speaks down to anyone. Engaging and inspiring lectures. He really knows how to teach math and it shows. He breaks everything down and his notes are excellent, very clear and concise. Exams are fair and HW is plentiful in order to practice what's taught in class. Study hard and ask Q's.
Im not sure what these reviews are talking about. He is an incredibly lazy professor who teaches things THAT DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE TEST. A large portion of the class was lost and the curve saved us. Webassign homework is similar to class material though. Tests are through webassign so no partial credit is given. Avoid him online.
He's a good professor, humble and helpful; but not ALL THAT like people say. He will care and provide notes for you, it's just the exams are nothing like his lectures IMO. Hes concept heavy, luckily he doesn't focus on proofs like the other profs and the HW and exams are all online, w. camera on. Hardest math course I've taken, study a lot.
I love this man so much. Don't listen to any other review. If you need to learn linear algebra, he makes this so easy for you and his tests are literally his review sheets. He's the nicest professor, I genuinely wish I could take him for every class - he is literally brilliant. Take this class you will NOT regret!
Professor Zakeri is a great professor. Unfortunately linear algebra as a subject itself is a really tedious subject and requires alot of studying. Gives alot of partial credit and he'll take care of you if you show improvement in exams if you didn't do well on one of the exams.
Overall, I think he conducted this class extremely well. Although I wanted to do better in this class than intended, he curved it. He is an extremely fair grader on tests and always accommodating to students. His knowledge on mathematics is amazing and he really knows how to make the material simple yet digestible for students. Great professor.
His notes can be a mixed bag. Sometimes they are great, other times they are completely useless to what is going to be asked on the test/homework. The textbook is also not the best at times so it can become difficult to grasp certain problems/concepts. His reviews are not good as some topics won't even appear on the test itself. He is ok.
don't miss class, his notes are crucial for the tests. they are so beyond perfect. he moves from one topic to the next so gracefully. curved the final grades generously for us to succeed. his reviews are his exams just different numbers. the final was the hardest but study kernel and range when you get to it!! he encourages questions so ask them!!
He is a fair grader. He curved in the moment. I took him for math 231 and 201 in a same time. He curved his both classes. His lectures were clear and explains everything very well.
He is a fair grader. He curved in the last moment. I took him for math 231 and 201 in a same time. He curved his both classes. His lectures were clear and explains everything very well.
This man IS ONE OF THE GREATEST TEACHERS I took in Qc. If you fail this mans class you have to do a deep self evaluation. Test are word for word bar for bar. Very generous curve, on top of that he makes a hard class like Calculus seem like elementary. He highly encourages questions even if its the most ridiculous question ever. HIGHLY recommend!
An absolute GOAT professor. Review sheets are his TESTS. Do all his hw's and you'll be ensured of passing his class.
Hands down one of the best professors I've had at QC. I took him for 231 and 152 and got an A+ in both classes. You can tell he's passionate about what he teaches and always tries to give us real-life applications. He encourages students to ask questions and ensures that everyone fully understands the theory and computations. Beautiful drawings.
He is an OK professor. Definitely not all that like these other reviews are saying. That being said he is an amazing lecturer and makes most if not all of the calculus 2 concepts easy to understand. Yes, his exams are similar to the review sheet, HOWEVER, he gives little to no partial credit (at least to me). Best math professor QC has.
Best teacher I've ever taken. Linear Algebra is apparently notoriously difficult but Prof. Zakeri made it so easy to understand and his tests were incredibly fair. I basically just attended class, did the homework and did 2-3 hours of studying for each test and got an A.
Easily the best Math professor I have ever had. He is *extremely* clear and tells you exactly what you do and don't need to know. Tells exactly what will be on the test and gives review sheets of what to cover. His only fault is that he is not SUPER nice. He's nice, but not SUPER nice. However still great 10/10 would recommend.
Zakeri was an engaging lecturer, Linear Algebra isn't always the most interesting subject but he did the best he could with it. He uses visual colors to distinguish when he writes, and was super understanding of personal circumstances throughout the semester. An amazing professor, highly recommend.
I mean he's pretty fair but I personally found it a little hard to stay focused throughout his lectures. Sometimes he made things a little too complicated for my understanding. He's nice and listens to students but just make sure to pay attention in class and do all the homeworks, cause if not it'll be difficult trust me.
Without a doubt, Zakeri was the greatest lecturer and the best professor that I ever had for a single math class before. He has a gift of being able to simplify the most difficult concepts for everyone, and you can tell that he puts in a lot of effort into his lectures that feel like live TED Talks. If you want to learn AND do well, take him. GOAT
I took him for Linear Algebra online (math 231) during pandemic. And now got to take him in person. OH MY GOD, he's somehow even better in person. Math 202 is vector calculus and I don't think he'll teach it again for a while but if he does and ur considering, trust me take him. Even if its for MATH 201 or 151 or 152, or honestly any other class.
Really good at introducing new unfamiliar topics that are intimidating at first. Clear and understandable lectures. Sometimes he is slow and repetitive, and the examples are many and tedious; however, it is to ensure that all topics are well-practiced, and that as long as you attention, there is almost NO way you won't understand the subject.
This is the guy you want to take, no question about it. Brilliant mathematician. He makes hard topics approachable. His tests are fair and he gives meaningful study guides. He takes phenomenal notes and explains thoroughly. Gives good examples. Not sure I have anything bad to say: he's super caring as well. One of the best teachers out there
The curve was only for the lower ranking people, kind of unfair imho. Good lectures but exams are tough after Midterm 1 because the average this semester was higher than normal.
Make no mistake, it's not easy for a math professor teaching relatively hard classes to be this well liked. He's lenient in grading, teaches well, is very organized and clear with instructions, and most surprising of all made the class intriguing enough to make students want to learn. You will not regret taking him. You will regret not taking him.
Makes calculus seem like arithmetic. Explains things well, has impeccable drawings, and generous while grading. Don't skip his lectures, you rarely get a math prof who can not only break tough problems down but also explain step by step patiently. He's very fair. Do review sheets, go to lectures, and submit Webassign on time.
Made linear algebra a fun learning exp. He also helps visualize concepts and makes the class engaging. His review sheet has questions and concepts very similar to the exams and nothing is a surprise. Hes also very accessible outside of class and is willing to help you in any way possible. A rare gem at QC. Dont second guess taking him! just do it!
The best professor for 231 without a doubt. Makes linear fun (no proofs), explains complex concepts in ways that make them simple and understandable. Very nice, approachable, and lenient with grading. Don't leave any question blank to maximize points earned. He also curves which is a huge plus (mainly for people who's grades are on the lower end)
This professor doesn't do any makeup exams for when you need it and grades harshly af. Don't take unless you are good at math. His lectures aren't very clear and he doesn't do review sessions. The hw is very difficult as well. I do not reccomend.
310 was one of the hardest classes I've ever taken. But still, Zakeri is an unbeatable professor. Amazing lecturer and mathematician that makes extremely long proofs look effortless. He also graded the exams fairly and curved the letter grade, which greatly helped people that were new to proof writing. If you're thinking about taking him, take him.
