Professor Khatun is a very difficult lady to have as a professor. She's from Bangladesh and she has a very strong accent and also shows alot of pride for the country. When it comes to papers she tries to make it easy to understand but they aren't.
overall this lady is hard to learn from, a hard grader and she makes the class a miserable experience. The only way you'll do good in this class is if she likes you.

I don't know what you all are talking about. So she has an accent, but that doesn't make her a bad teacher. If u pay attention in this class and do the reading for hw (never more than 3-5 pages or EASY reading) U can't fail this class. Plus 4 extra credit she has us draw pictures from the storiesLOL
It's hard to get thru her accient. She grades my papers really easy, got a As and never put any effort into it. to pass her tests all u had to do was pinkmonkey the story. I don't know what ur talking about with drawing pictures from the story, my class was never asked to do that
I thought she was the wrost teacher i ever had on campus she didnt speak english very well. she was really hard to understand. She says really ignorant things to her students. she does not believe in her own students. i will never take her again she failed me for no reason.

Horrible at teaching this class was not helpful when i asked for help.very hard to understand what she said while she was teaching. she had very thick and accent and she changes her mind on how to do assignments. she says one thing one day and then changes it the next. she is the worst teacher ever for this class.
Gives assignments one day and then never goes over them. It's a HUGE waste of a class. If you want an EASY A+ this is your class. Made me feel stupid to have a professor who taught us about English when it's not even her first language. Frustrating, but easy class.

She is super annoy, not just her voice, but her tendency to overstate the obvious. She always assumes she knows what you mean and never really listens when you're talking. She's not the sharpest crayon in the box, but you're guaranteed an A if you write your papers and laugh at her jokes (if you can recognize one).
wicked easy teacher but talks about the same**** EVERDAY. She's super nice and helpful but kinda annoying especially since I have her at 8 AM! But take her for an easy A just show up to class and do the papers
she is so sweet she might be annoying to some but ur garanteed to get a B the least unless your just supper dumb lolz..but take her when you get a chance.
She's a great teacher. very easy, you're garunteed a good grade. She's very helpful and you get extra points for practically everything. She's really hard to understand at first, but eventually you just get used to it.

I took her my freshman year for literary genres. she was horrible. i hate english teachers that can't speak english. she would talk and no one would listen. 95% of the time she doesn't make any sense. i suggest you do not take or she should be fired from the university. she was that bad.

WORST PROFESSOR I'VE EVER HAD!! Can't speak one word english!! If you're not one of her favorites you're screwed.. She's is very unclear with homework and when she wants it turned in. She's not capable of using the JWU e-mail system, so it's pointless of even trying to e-mail her a paper. Very one sided, your opinion doesn't matter!!!!
HATED HER CLASS!! She seemed kind of jittery. Repeats herself over and over. Half way throught the class theres nothing else to do and she creates purposeless assignments just to pass the time. She has a REALLY IRRITATING accent and she grades papers ridiculously. You will dread going to this class every other day!!

This is the worst teacher I have ever had. She wants a paper typed every week but doesn't give instructions clearly until after you've done it and she doesn't like it. She is all over the place with her topics, instructions, etc. She is also very hard to understand. She doesn't respond to emails either.

Horrendous. Can not speak the english language. Been here for 30 years, no clue. A DR in Lit and never read Romeo & Juliet. Didn't know where or what "Stonehenge" was! Must have received her degree at Walmart
She's good, a little hard to understand at times and was a little lax in the beginning then gave us tons of work at the end.
Had her for Lit. Genres... THE WORST PROFESSOR. Her accent is stupidly hard to understand, she repeats herself constantly, SHE DOES NOT VALUE YOUR OPINION! She asks for it and then cuts you down. Most of the class was asleep... if they showed up at all. Don't take her! It'll be the worst 11 weeks of your life!
I found it interesting that the said she has a degree in "our country" and has been in "our country" since the 70's but can not speak English. She randomly makes up words, and does not give directions clearly. Would not take her again if I had the choice.

DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. She is extremely repetative and does not value any opinions but her own. She often spells words wrong while writing them on the board. An easy A but if she does not like you she will give you a lower grade. Not worth my tuition and will NEVER takeher or reccomend her to anyone.

Professor Khatun was extremly helpful and she has such a positive personality. She does indeed have an accent but that does not make her hard to understand - she is an english DOCTOR. I really enjoyed her class. She is a positive bubbly personality and if you are having trouble with her just ask for help. I love Professor Khatun she was great!
Amazing teacher very easy to work with, take her if you want a good grade, but you gotta do your papers though. about 4 papers in a semester not bad and there usual 3 pages long or shorter.
She's a very nice woman who knows what she's talking about, but she's just not a very good teacher. She goes on tangents a lot of the time and tends to get very off topic. She thinks she's hilarious when she really isn't all that funny, so prepare for a cringe filled experience. Easy grader though. Her classes are boring but easy to pass.
She is kinda hard to understand. Very indecisive when it comes to due dates. Uses ULearn ALL the time for EVERYTHING. Late work is accepted but takes like 80 points off. Is ALL about everyone paying attention so laptop / cell phone use is a NO. I hide mine but she caught me sometimes. Overall decent class. But you have to pay attention.
The class is insanely easy. There was almost no point in going everyday. The essays are easy and flexible. She is flexible on every point, from topic, to due date, to submission method. She is a very nice woman, and always open to giving extra help. Responds to emails quickly. Overall, a nice lady and an easy A.

Such a nice woman. Has a bit of an accent but you can clearly understand her. Be nice to her and she'll have lots of respect for you. Easy 1 page journal assignments and easy 2 question quizzes on the stories you read in class. Book is a must. My favorite English professor to date. Don't know why others wouldn't like her. I loved her.
Her ratings on here aren't completely accurate! She is a lovely woman and does have a bit of an accent, however you can definitely understand her. If you go to her class, participate, and do the assignments (which are easy and there aren't many) you will be fine! She is really nice and makes time to talk if you don't understand something.

Professor Khatun is not as bad as many are saying she is. Her LIT class is so easy, whether you show up or not you can pass. If you read the assigned material and do your work it is an easy A. I will say that sometimes she gets off topic and doesn't explain herself clearly but if you ask her to explain again she will until you understand. Easy A.
She's nice as a person but can be pretty annoying. Her favorite phrase is "Am I making sense?" and usually the answer is "No" cause the woman goes off on tangents all the time. The assignments are easy enough, but they're boring. She focuses a lot on grammar and spelling, so you have to proofread.
I have been an A student in English my entire life and I throughly enjoy the subject. This professor made me miserable by singling me out in class and informing me that my opinions were wrong. She was rude, unclear, and an unfair grader. She would make little to no comments on my assignments that in no way justified the grade I was given.

She is very difficult to understand. We spent literally half the term learning about her culture which really is inappropriate for an English class. I understand maybe for a week for the one short story it could have gone with but she made us read ones that weren't in the textbook and watch a movie. Must read stories to pass her daily quizzes.
She expects you to be there or else she will complain about it. Your not allowed to leave early (if you have an appointment or something). She used the book for half the reading material in the class. She talks constantly about her culture, which is okay at first but after awhile you just don't care. It's hard to understand her reading.

Very nice woman, but if I have to listen to one more second of rants about her heritage, my ears might pop. Takes forever to return grades, and leaves a lot of assignments until the last week. However if you show interest, she does accept late work.
Amazingly sweet woman. I was having some health issues and she was so understanding. I did a lot of reading but that was the class. Quizzes were like 2-3 questions, EASY if you read. Tests, same, EASY if you read and participated. Spoke a lot about her heritage but it's interesting so it didn't bother me. Participate. She'll like you more.
I took Professor Khatun for communications and I am very glad I did. The class has a lot of laughs and it was very easy going and a good balance of fun and work. Professor Khatun is a very caring and kind women who inspires her students!

It was a real pleasure taking a course with this professor! I have heard complaints, but they come from students who don't want to act like they are in college. As long as you do your readings and have something useful to add to class discussions you will do GREAT in this class. I like her so much that I am taking another class with her this fall.
One of the most sweetest caring teachers i ever had. People complain about her because she has a thick accent and loves her culture which the students end up being rude to her so means they are not mature enough to be in college! i took her for a reading SENIOR level class and i can definitely tell you it was VERY easy.
Started the class off by saying she doesn't like talking about touchy subjects, but what she meant was she doesn't want to hear anyone else's opinion. One of the worst classes I've ever taken, she literally wont let you pick a topic if she "doesn't feel like hearing it". Disorganized, and not a fair grader in my opinion.
I took this professor for Nostalgia Memory and I felt like I didn't even learn about the topic. All she talked about was her culture and heritage, and all the homework, stories and quizzes were on cultural identity and foreigners in America. It had nothing to do with Nostalgia.
Took her for Nostalgia, learned nothing about it at all. We were graded only on quizzes based off of small details from short stories, so if you don't have a good memory you'll fail. She gets off topic & talks nonsense. Not organized, there is no set curriculum. The midterm was also on the short stories. Did NOT learn a thing related to the course.
I was shocked to see such a low rating on this website. Yes, some days she was a little unorganized, but she is very kind and very helpful for the work handed back. She collects many in-class mini writing assignments to give you feedback daily. She gives time in class before assignments are due for editing and even time for her to edit it if wanted
Such a great professor. This course is part of the Honors program, so the class size is insanely small, about 10 people. Course is mainly analyzing & evaluating writing and writing papers. Only downside is that Professor Khatun is Indian, so she's a little hard to understand. This course definitely increased writing skills.
NOTHING I HATE HER
Shes a good professor. Theres a lot of homework, but just 1 page paper on short stories, grades easily. Shes very nice and understanding. She has make-up for missing assignments. If you dont like writing, this might not be the class for you. However, the class is very interesting and helped me improve my writing.

While she assigns a lot of homework, reading and papers, she's very kind and understanding. However, academically it's difficult to handle the amount of work you'll get, especially without a great deal of explanation. You'll mostly be learning the writing styles from the book. I adore her as a person, but I wouldn't take her again.
This class is called Nostalgia, Memory, and Hybrid Identity. Other than the first week, you do not cover those topics at all. You read stories the whole time, its a boring class, and you won't learn anything new. If you see this class when you are registering, avoid at any cost. She is nice but hard to follow for most of it. Do not take this class.

I am a senior. This is by far the worst class I have ever taken in my entire life as a student. From pre-k to now. Unorganized, boring title of class has nothing to do with the topics being learned. Sitting in this class is watching paint dry for an hour and 15 minutes twice a week. If you want to learn nothing and waste money, take this class.
The part of me that doesn't want to leave this review is because she is genuinely a nice lady. Do not take this class. It is awful. I firmly believe I have become less intelligent every time I attend. The class I am taking is nostalgia and memory and all i have learned about is indians.
I signed up for this class as a psych major requirement, and i am truly disappointed. This class has nothing to do with nostalgia and memory, all that is read and spoken about in this class is about immigrants (mostly Indians). I regret ever taking this class, the professor is a very nice lady, but the teachings are very boring.
