Brody teaches an interesting class that focuses on indirect prejudices of today. Many topics discussed in class are over the history of what white people have done, which is not very pretty, and white privelege is always a sensitve topic. And you can change the world in one semester, she give countless examples. Easy A+.
She was a great teacher. It is key to understand the course concepts to understand her teaching methods in this class. Class participation is a large chunk of your grade. There is also a project that you will do the entire semester. Execellent experience!! I recommend everyone take this class.
Change the world project is worth half your grade. Quizzes are always covering book material or any handout/movie that she shows in class. My advice to you is to show up and read EVERYTHING. You will not do well unless you do.
Best class I have ever taken.
Not enough students appreciate the lengths to which Dr. Brody goes to provide her students with an educational experience that we can refer to well after the semester has ended. She reminds me of why I chose to go to university--so that I can think more critically and behave appropriately as a citizen of this planet.
Great professor, definitely in the running for my favorite classes at this school. I recommend for anyone interested in a new perspective or anyone who wants the strategies to change the world. You will actually have to read the textbook to gain anything from the class, but the book is just as interesting as the class discussions.
I wish she taught additional classes offered by UTD. Her class not only helped me learn a thing or two, but helped me think more critically about human behavior and communication in society.
Professor Brody is an inspiring professor. Her Psychology for Prejudice course is spectacular, every school in the nation should require this course. I recommend it to everyone I know. She is extremely knowledgeable, funny, caring, and genuine. She is helpful & her course work is not complicated.
Best course ever! She is knowledgeable and passionate. She wants students to learn and do their best. Amazing person. This course is an eye-opener and ridiculously inspirational! Tough and important topics. Group discussions and an amazing semester-long project. (NO EXAMS!)
Dr. Brody is one of the best professors I've had in my college career. Psych of Prejudice is the most enlightening courses because though it is emotionally taxing to read and hear about atrocities in the world, Dr. Brody gives you the tools to make a difference by simply sharing your story with others. Would take every semester if I could!
Dr. Brody genuinely wants her students to learn and take away from her course. She doesn't require you to regurgitate information through exams. Instead the class is more interactive that way students can better understand and appreciate the material. It's awesome that she is utilizing her foundation as a professor to truly educate her students.
This is perhaps the most meaningful class I have taken at UTD. Dr. Brody is able to facilitate discussions about controversial topics in an unbiased way and will challenge you to see issues from the perspectives of others. If you want to learn how to handle disagreement in a professional way, this class is a must. Don't skip class!
THIS CLASS WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE! Come to class with an open mind and be prepared to learn so much! No exams, lots of reading, discussions and writing but so worth it. You get what you put in, I made a high A and took so much away from this class. This course should be mandatory for all students! I wish I could take it again!!
very interesting topics covered in the class, however, she keeps you in the dark about your grade all semester because the grades she puts on eLearning are weighed differently than her personal grading scale. lots and lots of reading. get ready to write essays for this class
Captivating lectures. Very enthusiastic, relatable and can make boring topics interesting. Content is very applicable to just about any job or workplace. We have the opportunity to apply the lectured information in a lab at the end of every class to ensure a firm grasp of the material. Very fair grading system. Read the text for the tests!
This is the best class I have taken at UT Dallas. It is a lot of work, but totally worth it because I learned so much from an educational standpoint but also about myself. Dr. Brody is an amazing professor and will challenge you to really learn. TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!!
The most amazing class & professor. As farfetched as it sounds, my life truly changed w/ this class - the way I view the world, myself, & every person. I am not only more knowledgeable, but a better human for taking this class. The work is all worth it, & Prof Brody is caring & kind & strives for change. Take this class - you won't regret it.
Professor Brody is a great lecturer! She gives pop quizzes but theyre for extra credit. Showing up is a really good idea because she goes over some things in the lecture that arent in the textbook. The textbook is really important to read though.
Dr. Brody is one of my favorite university professors! She really cares about her students. Attendance isn't mandatory but she often gives extra credit chances right at the beginning of class so showing up on time can be a small grade booster. Her exams are fairly easy and multiple choice. She gives a study guide which is very useful.
Really nice lady. She gave like 50 points worth of extra credit in this 1000 point course (a lot). Honestly if you go to class everyday and make sure you do good studying in a timely manner then you can get an A.
She is so funny and gives a lot of extra credit quizes and half the times those questions are on the test. The homework is a comletiton grade but if done right youre guaranteed an A because those questions are also on exams sometimes. Makes class fun
Dr. Brody is one of the nicest professors I have had at UTD. She genuinely seems to care about her students, especially during the awkward transition to online classes. Her lectures are engaging and easy to follow. The homework is short and easy. Reading the textbook is helpful but not necessary if you attend class, plus EC is given for attending.
Very good teacher. Made subject matter fun and interesting.
I LOVE Dr. Brody. She was fantastic. Her "greatest hits" lectures were my favorite. She gives assignments that help you understand concepts as they relate to our world. She has so much knowledge to share. I wish I could have taken her class in-person! She's a fair grader. If you turn in assignments, you'll do fine. Tests require lots of studying.
Her Intro Psych class will be great whether you take it online or in-person. The weekly reading assignments are very manageable. As long as you know the important terms highlighted in the textbook reading, the exams will be no trouble.
Very nice, caring, and great communication. Provided weekly to-do lists, chapter and exam reviews, and pre-recorded lecture-type videos. Exams were open note and open textbook. Weekly Perusal assignments (in place of in-class discussions) usually took me an hour to do but were interesting and pretty easy.
Dr. Brody is one of the best professors I've ever had. Clear and defined grading criteria, enthusiastic about teaching, and more than willing to help any student inside or outside of class. Take her, you won't regret it!
My favorite professor to have even had in college! The lectures are so interesting and she is so sweet and caring. I had a personal situation that was hard for me and she was completely understanding and caring towards me and allowed me to turn in several assignments late without any penalty. She's very sweet, caring, kind, and knowledgeable!
ONLINE COURSE: I had to buy the MacMillan book with online quizzes, and take weekly quizzes per chapter and a small guided reading assignment. Dr. Brody was very helpful in preparing supportive lectures and reading materials, and made preparing for the few exams easy as pie.
Not an enjoyable class, but one thing the professor did well was easy accessibility through Microsoft Teams. Lots of homework/writing, but not too hard to get an A - just annoying. Open book exams, but really weird questions (even if you reviewed well). Find a different professor if you can.
She is great, talks a lot, and if you like that sign up for her class. You can tell she really likes the subject.
One of my favorite teachers Ive ever had at UTD. She makes her lectures really interesting and likes to ask students if they have any stories pertaining to what were learning in class. Tests are open-note and homework is really interactive which helps in understanding the material.
Easy A. Do the homework and read the material. The professor's lectures are interesting, and the content itself is fun to learn about. There's a lot of busywork, but aside from that, the course was great - as was the professor.
It is not hard to do well if you put in some effort. Dr. Brody's lectures are really interesting and she cares about her students. 4 exams and 1 final, lowest score is dropped. Weekly homework assignments that are not long or difficult.
Dr. Brody is amazing! She has great lectures, and the class itself is fairly easy. Do the work/reviews and pay attention in lecture and you're good to go.
Dr. Brody is the best professor! Take her! Her grading is straightforward. Read and pay attention to her lectures. She is really passionate about what she teaches and made lectures engaging. Accessible outside of class and is always willing to answer any questions. Go to her office hours! She is really friendly and loves talking to her students.
Professor Brody is awesome! She's so full of energy and you can really tell she loves teaching psychology! The course itself is super easy and you honestly don't even need to attend lectures, although that does make the exams slightly more difficult. I never had to use my textbook and the homework is very easily manageable. Also some extra credit!!
She was incredibly sweet! Online class was still provided but coming in person was nice and she's very interactive. I'm introverted so I didn't participate or get close to her as much as I wanted to, but that's very rare I feel that way about teachers. She wants you to succeed & assignments aren't hard but take time. Tests are good if you study
Best class I have ever taken I am now doing a Psych minor because of her!!! Prof Brody makes learning psychology really fun and each lecture is fun and interesting. She gives more/diff information during class so I highly recommend going and you MUST read the book. Details you dont think are important are important and make a note of it.
Although this was an online class, Dr. Brody made it extremely worthwhile! Be prepared to study and pay attention in this course, you won't pass without putting in the work. Amazing professor, love her!!
My favorite prof. so far. Very sorry to anyone who has to take online, I'm sure she is still great but her in-person lectures (pre-covid) were AMAZING. Easy to follow, engaging, one of the only classes I've ever felt not only comfortable but excited to sit up front and participate in discussion. Study vocab and case studies especially
Dr. Brody is a very engaging lecturer. Even if you're not majoring in psychology, she makes sure you get something out of her class. She genuinely cares that you understand the material. If you take notes over the textbook & pay attention during lectures, there's no reason you shouldn't do well on exams.
this class is a lot of work - like ~3hrs for each weekly assignment - but it is so worth it! one of my favorite classes i've ever taken in college & Dr. Brody is such a wonderful professor! no exams or papers; just content-heavy weekly assignments, weekly persuall annotations, & 2 group projects. as long as you do the work you'll get a good grade
Dr. Brody is an amazing professor to take for psych courses. One is able to see the passion she has for the subject as well as how much she cares about her students. Her course is graded on a 1000 point scale with 4 exams and an optional final, one easy A paper, and perusall. I, personally, loved perusall to help one understand the textbook + exams
Professor Brody was very nice and inspired me to take interest in psychology. The class is laid back and the homework (all online) is extremely easy. The exams (also online) are slightly more difficult (especially the fill in the blank portions), but if you study, you should be fine. Overall, if you put in effort, you should not fail this class.
TAKE HER ONLINE INTRO TO PSYCH CLASS! She literally does more than enough to make students pass. She gives practice quizzes, lecture videos (abt 30 mins max) for each chapter, printed lecture notes, extra credit, study guides, literally everything possible. She made psychology fun despite it being online and she is very passionate :) LOVED HER!
easy a in terms of how much thinking you need to do, you don't need to be smart to get an a. However, it is time-consuming. you read 2 books and then about 3 long articles + 45 minute video per week. she uses perusall and you need to make 15 comments. worst part was the GROUP PROJECT. when will professors learn that 1 person does all the work
I took this class asynchronously online over the summer but I still felt connected to my classmates and professor. She sent weekly emails, was extremely organized, held office hours weekly, and the content was awesome. If you do the work then you'll do good in this class. 10/10 class and professor.
Dr. Brody is an amazing professor! Despite taking the class online, I could tell she cares for her students. The content and assignments are all very organized. There are weekly assignments and test are fair difficulty. She provides notes and videos. I found the tests to get harder with progression so do your absolute best on the first few!
Going to class was fun although attendance was not mandatory. It can feel overwhelming if you don't actually do the reading and take notes(using the study guide of each chapter) every week. She uploads video's, besides the lecture, on eLearning those who need it. On the exams, it is mostly about the application of concepts.
One of the best psych professors, you don't need to go to lectures, but you'll find yourself going just to hear her lectures, she's very good at what she does and tests are easy and open note, STAY ON TRACK or it can be easy to fall behind with perusal and readings. The course is overall easy though and so interesting!
This class was super informational and easygoing, you can tell Dr. Brody cares both about the subject and the students. I took the class virtually, which can be a nightmare, but everything was very well organized. There was a lot of homework (anywhere from 2-7 assignments) but they were easy to complete and didn't take a lot of time.
she's extremely caring and accommodating. her course itself is also very interesting and even though I took this course online, it's very obvious that she works hard to remain connected to her students. she's probably one of the best professors on campus.
Dr. Brody has been such a wonderful prof. to have this semester. Attendance is not mandatory, but please attend to make it worth her time! She is a joy to listen to and loves to interact with her class. It is Psychology after all, and she wants to get into your mind with all the knowledge she has to offer. Listen, take notes, do hw and all is well!
She's amazing. The lectures are great. The book and the homework are helpful on exams and fun to do. Exams are open-notes and open-book. Please attend the lectures and participate! She deserves it. She also gave extra credit and the SONA research was fun to do.
5+ Exams, 1-2 weekly assignments that require 2+ hours of reading and 2 more hours of reflective writings and replies to classmates. (2) worst grades for everything, including exams, are dropped. Strong focus on women in psychology. Caring professor but it's a lot of busy work, not an easy A. Would only take in Summer.
Not only is Dr.Brody good at teaching psychology ,but she has an amazing personality. She is very accessible outside of class and also understand students struggles. I honestly recommend her for everyone!!
Workload is heavy but easy. Just do the work and you should get a good grade. I learned a lot from this class because of the mandatory readings to get assignments done. Side Note: I took this class over the summer so it felt overwhelming with just the few weeks I had.
Loved this class, learned a lot, but did not like the professor or her TA. It is a lot of work, and Persuall assignments were annoying.
Probably one of, if not the best professors at UTD. Every lecture was great to attend. She is engaging and loves what she does and you can tell. There is a good amount of assignments you need to do, but otherwise, she's great. Don't let my grade influence you otherwise, I'm just a horrible tester, she really is awesome.
ABSOLUTELY LOVE QUEEN BRODY!! Very clear, easy-to-follow lectures. Tests are open notes and open-book. The professor makes notes over every chapter for student use. Assignments are very simple. Very interesting class overall. :)
I loved her energy and how engaging she was in class! Also, my TA was an absolute delight to have as well. Please do not forget to do your assignments every week. She was very intelligent and the homework was nice towards us in terms of grading and the exams were good if you studied and knew how to navigate (open note/book).
Professor Brody is one of the best professors I have had so far! Her classes are extremely engaging and not mandatory, meaning however much you put into the class is what you get! All her exams are open-note open book, and for each exam, a study guide is given before hand, as well as review sessions from the TA. Overall great class!!!
Dr. Brody was by far the best professor I had. Her lectures aren't mandatory but please attend because she deserves it. She truly cares about her students and wants you to succeed. There is a good amount of homework but if you do it its pretty much completion. The exams are all open-note. I would take her for every class if I could.
Lots of Readings, and Persuall homework.
10+ hours of homework a week.
love, love, love her! so caring & genuinely cares about students.
I took the class fall 2023. I don't find her to be a caring person. She utilizes MANY forms of instruction: book, online, Perusal, her own videos, etc. I believe it is way too much and not necessary. Tests are not very direct and can be confusing in the answers vs. simply testing your knowledge. I did not find the class a class I enjoyed.
Took the online portion of this class and it was multiple homework assignments a week, but I think it was worth it over having an in-person lecture. Dr. Brody genuinely cares about everyone and provides several opportunities for extra credit. I think the online intro to psych class was worth it and Brody made it even better.
PLS DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. ESPECIALLY THE ONLINE INTRO PSYCH CLASS. Her assignments are ALL over the place!!!! SO MUCH WORK- Perusall questions with links to like 10 things to watch, essays, so much textbook reading, then Achieve learning curve module questions (which you all have to PAY FOR, then her own videos to watch- all due on the same day!
Don't take this class unless you want to spend hours each day reading and doing quizzes and time consuming discussion questions. Its a veryyy demanding workload. Also, the amount of content that you have to cover and memorize is crazy. dont take!!!
While she is a good lecturer and a somewhat caring person, her workload is very heavy. You have to memorize almost everything she gives (e.g., the textbook, her discussion board assignments, her own lecture slides and videos, and her retrieval quizzes). If you are not familiar with any of those things by exam time, you will face a curveball.
Having Professor Brody as my instructor has been a genuinely enriching experience. Her blend of passion, expertise, and unwavering support makes her class an absolute must for anyone looking to excel in psychology. Yes, there is a lot of reading, but those who complain about it are lazy; it's college, and you'll read a lot.
Amazing professor. She explains very clearly in lecture and always found a way to make lecture interesting instead of a snooze fest. You can tell she is passionate about what she teaches and her class was overall very enjoyable. Tests were online, homework was generally pretty easy.
Dr Brody was such an inspiring professor. I genuinely looked forward to her lectures and went, even though she doesn't take attendance. The class itself has a lot of homework, but they're mostly low-effort, and she gives plenty of assistance and material to get the work done.
Lots of resources that she gives out. You have to read every chapter of the textbook and then complete quizzes over each one and then there's discussion posts with embedded videos. Lots of replying to classmates. It's a larger workload for an online class. Don't procrastinate. Dr. Brody is super nice and she cares about what she's teaching.
Dr. Brody is super caring and a fun professor. Her lectures are interesting and not boring! PSY 2301 isn't a hard class, but keeping up with the textbook really makes a difference and is pretty much mandatory if you want a high grade. Weekly assignments which are clear and organized well so you know what to expect each week.
I loved Dr. Brody for my intro class. She is really passionate about pysch and its infectious. I would 100% recommend it. There is a lot of reading but it's worth it in my opinion; really interesting stuff. The tests are pretty much memorization and as long as you put in the minimum its an easy A.
Dr. Broody's class is homework heavy. There are too many assignments to finish off every week, the course load seems too much, and you can only understand her lectures if you do the chapter readings on time. Without the readings, it becomes difficult to comprehend the course content effectively.Attendance is not required.Course content interesting.
Honestly, this class doubled my homework. I learned nothing in this class, despite spending 5 hrs a week on hw. She also made her exams closed note and they asked for weird details like the date of certain experiments. I'm sure she'd be better in person, but I didn't enjoy the online experience at all. She does give extensions and extra credit tho.
Dr. Brody is an awesome professor who is truly passionate about what she teaches. Lectures are never boring so classes are usually fun. She does assign a lot of assignments however they aren't hard just a bit time consuming. Tests aren't extremely hard but they are a bit challenging.
exams are CLOSED book. There is Persuall, but it's basically a completion grade. Has learning curves which can be tedious but is also completion. Review Persuall before exam, do the reviews she posts, watch her recorded lectures, and read the textbook. overall easy class but study for exams or you wont do good.
Took her last fall when she switched online open-note exams to closed-note note at testing center. So much busy work that adds up when you have other exams to study for in other courses. To do well on the exams, you actually have to pay attention to perusall content and study the reviews with Qs basically implying that all content is fair game.
Great professor! She makes the class fun and engaging. There's a lot of HW, but it's a easy 100 if you do it, and it makes the exams less stressful since they're both 50% of the grade. Also, starting my semester, she allowed one cheat sheet per exam, which made the class a lot easier. Still, you learn a lot in here. Would recommend!
Class was pretty easy, the exams are closed book but with a free cheat sheet for every exam as long as it's her specific paper. Do the weekly homeworks, read through the textbooks, take some notes, and just cram that cheat sheet full of information for your exams. The class is mostly memorization, which is heavily alleviated by the cheat sheet.
