VERY Demanding and does not wait for those who fall behind
He knows his stuff but can't teach it. Tests are incredibly difficult.
don't take it.......
His tests are nearly impossible. The highest class score on one exam was 38/100
Not very organized.
Pay attention, do the homework, and you'll do fine
He had no respect for me or my desire to learn
Teaches everything you need to know, but not enough for the tests!
Avoid this prof like the plague. You will think you understand the material
If you don't understand the first time, he won't explain it again!
Had calc in H.S, he made a very simple subject really hard!
5 Min late everyday, get on good his good side key to better grade. Exams hard!
Worst professor ever. Condescending. Belittles his students. Late everyday.
Don't get behind, or ask questions that he has answered already, final is impossi
He is vindictive.
If you do your work you will do well
HE CAN'T EVEN MAKE FRESHMAN SEMINAR INTERESTING!!!!!!!!! HE IS BORING!!!!
Makes freshman seminar boring please stop with the puzzle
Not much homework, Decent teacher if your good at math.
You learn a lot, but the final is impossible. Avoid if possible.
I'm math major, had very hard time. Tests/quizzes very unfair-not over h.w.
nice guy..i got an A for the whole term, except the final, everyone i knew failed
Good Prof. made the work easy, but final was hard!!!!!!!
likes to give impossible finals and projects, likes to fail
Has a golden heart but soooo boring...PUZZLES ARE FOR KIDS!
Very insensitive. Difficult person. Rude. Unfriendly. Not helpful. AVOID!
Great Teacher. Keep up = you'll do fine
What is this guy talking about? worthless homework assignments
Listen up- He is hard, but a good teacher if you pay attention and try.
Good teacher, but expects you to remember everything you've seen before
Good teacher but grades very hard. Very little repect for students.
Hard Tests, keep up and you'll do fine
Hard tests.Learned much.Good professor, but not for the faint of heart.
Final is impossible
lecture was straight-forward, midterm and final were hard but he graded onacurve
Gotta love Dr Salim., he's easy going, and knows his stuff
Dr Salim is the best prof i've come in contact with, "wiggle and dagger" haha
great teacher, extremely difficult exams, ya gotta luv him
Good class til test time, He makes sure you know he is smarter.
good luck, or take it at GRCC
this professor was the hardest to learn math from. 10 passes out of 30.
Fun Class for math fans. Tough tests, all works out in the end

Entertaining, but grades hard. Tests VERY hard. Avoid if possible. : /
curves nice. still very hard
This prof was worst I have ever had in my career as a student.
his tests are really hard
his tests are hard, DONT write you work on a seperate page he will get very mad!
He's a great guy, funny. But if you can't take the heat get out of his class!!!
tests are impossible to pass
You're better off with someone else! Non-passible tests! You'll see!
tests are impossible AVOID!!!
good teacher but had unclear expectations for tests. hard tests but curves alot
This guys sucks, worst ever, everyone fails the test....impossible.
Could these tests be any harder.....highly unlikely
Lucifer himself, run away!!!
I'm a law student now. This man is still the worst prof I've ever had. 3 students in my class filed grievances w/ the Univ.
Not too much homework. However, his tests are too hard. Even the advanced math tutors couldn't figure out one of our take home probs.
Great teacher, tests are the hardest ever
We learned a lot in class, not too much assignments but his exams are the hardest freaking ever, even math majors avoid this guy!!!
Man hates life and enjoys making his students life misearable, avoid if possible but if you have to take him get on his good side ecause if not it is all over.
Made math the nightmare I always knew it was. Tests seemed to be written in code. I spent hours and hours studying, but there was no point. When test time rolled around, I thought I'd stumbled into the wrong class.
Best math prof i ever had. Test are extremely hard but he curves alot. I got a 51% on first test and that a C. Very helpfull. If youre not a math or engineering major you might want to avoid.
Grade is comprised final, midterm, and homework average. Had no idea of grade until last week of class. Your doing well if ya get a 50% on assignments. Asks questions on things youve never discussed before and can be quite intimidating! Not much fun
at first he was very friendly, but what a rotten man he turned out to be. He would embarrass you in front of the class. His tests are very hard, but he curves a lot. Moves very slow through out the course. Avoid taking him.
I only had him for Freshman Seminar which was a waste of time anyway but he made it even worse!! I can't imagine having him for math..

First class at GVSU. I had a 4.0 from more prestigious college. Absolutely, hands down, no doubt about it, the worst Prof ever. Why do they keep this man around??
His tests are so hard but if you do ok and write everything you know down you can still do pretty well.
worst prof ever. he makes fun of and embarasses students. his lectures are hard to follow. no matter how much you study, the tests are still suprising. On my final exam, I left at least 40% of the problems blank, and it curved to a b-
Great class, IF YOU LIKE MATH. He's awesome. He wants to you understand the material, not just to memorize things well enough to pass the test. The curve is crazy, yes. He makes fun of people, but he's not being mean. He tells lots of stories, makes math fun. You learn lots, he wants you to succede
Awesome class and teacher. Granted through AP Calc, I knew what was going on. The rest of the class seemed a little lost. But this wasn't because of the teaching. Calculus is a class for people who like math and understand it. It shouldn't be dealth with if you aren't willing to put in an effort.
I only had him for Freshman seminar please don't take that class for your own sake but especially don't take it with him, he doesn't do anything to make it interesting and doesn't bring in guest speakers or anything like that. so don't take the class
Will never take his class again and would not recommend it. Tests were difficult and he spent most of the class telling pointless stories instead of teaching.
Worst teacher ever. He showed up late almost everyday then told stupid stories and expected us to learn everything. Then he curved the grades because if he didn't over half the class would've failed.
They're still letting this man teach???? I had him several years ago. I've now finished a law degree and a graduate degree, and I have never had a worse professor.
This guy is the greatist, so funny and class is interesting. He takes his time explaining everything untill the last person gets it. You look forward to go to class just cause of him, and this is math for god sakes, it is math so test are hard but the teacher is the best
He wrote the rating underneath this one. TRUST ME!!! Only he thinks hes funny. Yes he is late every day. The only people that get an A are the people that dont need to take the class in the first place TYLER!!! And im not your F'ing friend, my friend.
Without his curve, only 5 of 30 people would pass the course. His exams have little to do with mechanics of the course. Study all you want, bring any material you want, you'll be lucky to get a 'C'. After his exams, you'll feel you learned nothing. Take his class if you like feeling stupid.
Seriously...anyone can get a B in the class. If you copy down his notes, you never have to open your book and he'll clarify anything until even the biggest bonehead in the class gets it. Exams are kinda tough but there is a massive curve and it still is feasible to do well without the curve.
Prof thinks he is the best. He isn't!!! He is hard to follow and gets into things way over the heads of the students. I would never take another class instructed by him. His final exam left me feeling unfulfilled because it wasn't on the material I studied so hard for. It was a conseptuial test, ment to see if you could take it to the next level.
Prof. Haider is a VERY difficult grader. If you want to be challenged and have had calc before, then you might be ok. I had never taken calc before, and got a B+, which was the second highest grade in the class. He rarely gives out A's.
i am a "A" student, especially in math, i almost didn't pass his class, the final exam wasn't at all what we covered in class. i never studied so much for math. i felt that he was pleased to see me fail at my best subject. Dont take his class. He is brilliant when it comes to math, but doesnt know how to teach he is unpredictable and unorganized
This prof isn't hard if you do the homework. If you pay attention in class you get the general concept of what he teaches. The things he usually puts on quizs and tests are from the homework and he usually gives you points for atleast attempting the problem. I won't take him again cause of the roundabout way he takes for notes but that's just me...
He is a friendly guy, just hard to follow a lot of the time. He will go over ANYTHING until EVERYONE gets it, but seems to still be unorganized. His classroom is very laid back amosphere, and if you show up everyday, attempt the homework, he can make it worth your while.

This class is awesome! i mean for a calc class anyways.... this class is definitely was easier than my highschool ap class EVER was... always possibilies for bonus points and if that he doesnt move on until everyone knows whats going on!!! AND he makes the class interesting.....
This class is a drag. He talks and its hard to listen. The stuff is easy, but he puts it in ways to be difficult. If you know how to do a problem, you better make sure its his way or its wrong. Other than that, he jokes and doesnt get anything done.
Easily the worst teacher I have ever had. He only helps the students he likes and he only likes the students that don't need help. He wastes most of the class periods then tests on material not covered. Do not take this professor.
Spends more time telling stories and jokes than teaching. Seen him makes some students feel like idiots in front of the whole class just because they don't understand the material very well. Would recommend another professor. One of the worst professors I have ever had.
Dr. Haidar uses valuable time to talk about subjects not relating to calculus 3. He also finds it funny to humiliate students in front of the class. Very poor presentation in front of the calss, insensitive to students needs.
This guy is an all around jerk - I highly recommend you take someone else. His self righteous attitude places no interest in your ability to learn. If you don't follow him in class, it's your fault, according to him.
He is very misleading on his exams. During class disscutions and questions everyone seems to get all the answers and understands the problems, but then during the exams he throws questions that are out of no where that no one understands. He is very interesting guy to talk to but he is not an effective teacher and you shouldn't take him.
Very poor prof. He uses most of class time to talk. Hope to be one of the favorites...On his quizzes and exams he puts on material not covered in class. The only thing we learned was from the homework. Nothing taught during class is tested on. This prof is a waste of time.
he is a great person, but as a teacher, i would definately not take him again. you have to either already know the calc or teach yourself. his tests are extremely hard and usually cover things that we never went over. overall, good guy, not so good teacher.
Funny, funny guy. Cracks me up. However, I would never recommend him. He is sometimes hard to follow, and if you think you've done well on a test/quiz think again; you've probably failed. I had a hard time learning anything, and so now I have to take the class over again. Oh boy.
Great professor because he explains things well but very hard when it comes to tests. I suggest when taking him to do as well as possible on class work and let your test work speak for itself. Gives everyone the grade they really diserve. Would definitely take again.
He is a funny guy especially when he tells his dumb poem everytime someone is absent. I liked how we were able to e-mail him questions that we think should be on the test and he actually picked 2 of my questions for the final, word for word. I however don't recommend him because he wastes a lot of time talking about pointless things.
Very personable guy. Class time is enjoyable and fun, but he's not the greatest teacher. Sometimes hard to follow and doesn't explain things well when questions are asked. Tests are very difficult, even though he curves well. Course grade is based (almost) completely on exam and quiz grades.
Haidar is the bomb! I'm definitely enrolling in his classes if at all possible. Hilarious, personable, interactive, sympathetic, encouraging, helpful, basically one of the best teachers/professors I've ever had. Class tip: LOG AND ACCUMULATE BONUS POINTS!!! Not only a good teacher, but also a good mathematician, well published etc.
wow guys dont do it if you can avoid any prof this is the one this is the hardest class i have ever taken and i really did well in math before be warned stay away
I simply couldn't stand him. His explanations were terrible and I ended up teaching myself. Only two tests all semester, but they are extremely difficult . He is the worst professor I've had in my three years in college. AVOID AT ALL COST.
HILARIOUS! Greatest math teacher I've ever had! Explains with great detail if you don't understand something, but don't be like me and wait until a week before the final. I should have failed but he gave me a C. Recites a silly poem youll come to memorize. The 11 letter word - trustworthy. I reccommend him! You will never fall asleep in his class!
Very good. Goes over homework if there are questions. Very helpful. He's also a little bit of a pushover sometimes but in a good way. He tries to make the class fun and interesting and tries to use sayings like "How do you like them apples?" - Hilarious!
He is the best pro ever. very helpfull. his exam from the study giude many student does not like him but i do. he make the first ten minute as joke then he start teaching the matirial. take him you will pass with A.
Doesnt explain in detail for all homework/reviews. Watch out for the test as they are tricky. Pro expects you to teach yourself the majority of the work. Homework is graded by work showed. Make sure you understand the basics before taking this class.
Dr. Haidar was the worst professor I have ever had. He didn't teach the subject matter, only answered questions from assignments adn you were expected to learn it on your own. Most questions on exams were things we had never learned. EXTREMELY unhelpful and never thinks he is wrong. He was absolutely horrible! If you want to pass don't take him!!!!
Very difficult for me. I had not taken math recently, but class avg on most exams in D range. Tests always included material from chapters later in book. Prof willing to help, rude in doing so, but he takes effort into account. Spends most of class w/jokes, goes over very few examples and only HW ?s ASKED in class. Must learn on own from book.
I took AP Calculus in HS and got an A, but got a C in his Calc 1 class. The material on the tests was unrelated to anything taught in the class. He also thinks all people learn the same way, and refuses to be flexible with his teaching methods. He got irritated when I came to his office hours with questions about the material.
Very jolly teacher, starts of class with a joke or lighthearted story. He wants you to be challenged in the class, but is very helpful when you sincerely need help. Good grader, takes effort into consideration. is interested in EVERY student, not just the fast learners.
Always willing to help students at any time.
Take this class if you want to be closest to the center of the universe, because it revolves around him. (Or so he believes). Ineffective teaching methods. Would much rather "impress" you all day with his knowledge of math, which isn't very helpful. Makes up for not teaching well by doing massive curves.
Told funny jokes, but did not really relate the material to the tests. The tests had little to do with what was taught. I felt that I didn't even have the tools to begin the problems and I put a ton of time into this class.
Although Dr. Haidar's Calc I class may be slightly more difficult than the other sections, I benefits quite a bit from him. I took AP Calc last year, but really LEARNED the material from him. He truly cares about his students' learning, not memorizing. Very good if you're going on to Calc 2,3, etc. I recommend him! Grades well, tests hard-ish. =]
Prof Haidar is a terrible prof. He doesn't help you learn the material if you have questions, and just talks about random things in class. I would def not take him again.
I really learned a lot from this professor!
This prof was bad. He was all over the place in his teaching and had no structure to his methods. He knows math, but not how to teach it effectivly. Do Not Take!
bad prof.
It's hard to write a review on this guy without dropping constant F-bombs. Insanely egotistical. Arrogant. Gets angry if you ask questions. Refuses to explain anything in any way other than his own. Ridiculously picky grader. Hates partial credit. A truly worthless professor, and this is coming from someone pulling a B in his Calc 3 class.
Currently sitting in his class. I cant explain how worthless this prof is.
very hard, i took calc in high school and decided to take 201 to refresh my memory, and ended up with a C. Teaches only in his way, tests and quizzes are very hard, does not like partial credit. He was a somewhat funny, but I recommend not taking this prof. also doesnt do many examples in class
If you love this subject, you will be very discouraged after "taking this class." (It was made so difficult I can honestly say I didn't retain more than 20%) Take another section!
Prof. Haider is a good Prof. He does his best and the students have to do theirs. I think he is more of teaching his students how to catch fish and not only giving them fish which is the most appropriate style.
Grades hard, Exams are hard w/ class averages of 55% and curved, funny, entertaining, You'll always be wondering how/what your grade is, Exams are completely different from the homework, Seems to be a good guy and if 100% effort is shown I beleive he'd work with you to get your grade up,
Differential equations is a difficult class to begin with but when you ask him for help you get it. The way he talks is weird at times, plus he leaves stuff on the board for as long as he can so I'd suggest sitting near the middle of the room.
FANTASTIC! I HATE math, but loved this course! I would highly recommend the section he teaches on the Pew Campus. Class size is very small there (about 10). He gives bonus points for participation, and takes a personal interest in ALL of his students. Easily among my top 3 profs in 3 years! Curves grades. Knew everyone's name inside 2 weeks.
Awesome Professor! This class is tough no matter where you take it but Haidar makes differential equations and linear algebra fun (as hard as that is to believe). Just don't expect to get an A unless you're already a master at this subject.
Dr. Haidar is tough, it's that simple. But he does it in a way that challenges those students who come to class prepared. All homework in this course was optional. If you don't do the practice problems, you might find yourself lost. Do the HW, ask questions, and you're all set.
Works hard to explain material well and makes sure the class is understanding it. Grades homework and gives partial credit on tests. But you still have to put the time in studying. She is quite amusing.
Really great prof. Didn't know that Calc could be funny. Was very knowledgable about the subject and helped you know why you were learning what you were learning. Didn't just teach for a test, but taught for your success outside of class. You need to do the suggested homework to pass. You need to work for your grade, as you should.
not a great teacher, condescending and rude
Lectures where hard to follow. Would rather tell stories then teach. Classroom environment was awkward from day one. Doesn't use webworks, tough grader on handouts. Good luck getting grade updates. Tests are tough; grades on a curve. Gives out bonus points in class for participating (don't really affect final grade). Don't recommend for MTH 122.
Prof. Haidar's class was terrific. He does a great job at teaching the material. His grading will scare you, and you will have to work hard to do well, but if you do, he will recognize it and will not let anybody's grades suffer too much. The material is challenging, but he takes the time to makes every student is caught up and learning well.
His teaching style is not conducive for obtaining optimum efficiency of learning. Class consist of him asking how to do a problem. Oh heeeee knows how to solve it, but let's spend most of a 2 hour class period guessing wrong solutions. I have never seen a professor grade the way he does. Partial credit doesn't exist for him.
Pro: -Leaves work on board -HEAVY CURVE Con: -Asks to solve a problem you've never seen before, spend 45 min on it, only to say question is "bogus" in the end -Each test has a 4 pg essay (Can't keep test) -Partial Credit. What is it? -Final unpassable, includes topics only in book -First grade submitted 1 week before final(ask prior, you're "good")
Professor Haidar is chooses to play a guessing game rather than teaching. He will put a problem on the board that you have never seen before and that you were never taught and would be asked to solve it. Would not recommend or take again. Very very heavy curve on all exams including the final.
Absolutely wonderful teacher. Truly cares about his students success. Difficult, but thorough. Curves are usually significant!
Tries to come off as lighthearted and funny, but is anything but. Makes material harder than it needs to be, because he's disorganized and rude when asked questions. Made three people cry in my class. Thinks his time is more important than yours. Do not take this professor.
For MTH 123, it is a level 100 class but it feels as if it is a level 300 class. His grading is ridiculous. If you dont do it specifically right the whole problem is wrong. You can tell its super hard considering a 58 percent in his class is a C. I DO NOT recommend taking him. It would be wise to take another trig professor
Care about your GPA? Don't take professor Haidar's class. He grades awfully, it is his way or the highway. There were many occasions where I or my peers would get a correct answer and show work, but he didn't like it, so he marked it wrong. He knows the material, just doesn't know how to teach or communicate concepts to the students.
Overall you could tell he cared about his students, but he was very strict about when we could ask questions, and got in 2 arguments with 2 different people in my class about that. To me kind of comes off as rude. Very tough grader, but there are a lot of opportunities for bonus points on the homework.
DO NOT TAKE CLASS. This prof doesnt know how to teach and its so hard to understand him. He will teach a level one question and then ask a level 10 question on the exam. Wont answer questions in class. Ive always gotten As in math classes and this one seemed impossible.
At first, I was afraid to take his class because of his rating. He's a really nice guy and he seems like he genuinely cares. Here's advice from me, someone that doesn't do well in math usually (Calc 1 C+, Cal 2 B-, Calc 3 C) DON'T take him. I had a really hard time learning from him. He also doesn't respond to emails very well.
Professor Haidar offers plenty of chances to earn bonus points on the homework and grades with a heavy curve. I was wary of taking his class at first because of the other ratings, but he was one of the best professors I've ever had. He gives plenty of time for questions in class and offers a mix of in person and take home exams.
Rambles off onto random topics during lecture, extremely complicated tests. You have to teach yourself Trigonometry pretty much. Expect him to accuse you of cheating, and don't expect to ever hear back from him in emails. His study guides and answer keys for exams consist of page numbers and references to lectures, doesn't actually explain anything
Prof Haidar expects a lot of work out of his students but it's understandable for a tough concept like differential equations. He grades hard but he curves hard as well on exams. His class policies were great in making a tough course workable. ALWAYS PARTICIPATE IN CLASS FOR BONUS POINTS.
Does not do a good job of explaining material to his students. He rambles on about things we did in a previous class. Its basically a class where you have to teach yourself. He does give out bonus points but they do not equal the amount you get wrong on assignments due to him grading so heavy. If you dont do it his way, good luck. Dont take!!!!
Worst teacher ever. Dont know how he is a professor
This is hands down one of the worst educators I have ever had. I am naturally good at math and science and I had a C+ in the class. I was extremely disappointed with his teaching abilities. He doesnt care if you get the answer right, if he doesnt like the way you did a problem, he will still mark you wrong. Do not take his classes.
the tests and quizzes were graded hard. How every, he's very lenient on his grading scale. We had 2 exam and then the final and were allowed to drop one. Very helpful. He's very understanding. He doesn't give homework but does assign practice problems for extra credit. DO THE PRACTICE PROBLEMS, I could've gotten a better grade if I did.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HIM. This is the worst professor at gvsu. Lectures are confusing and he makes everything more difficult than it has to be. It is like he is trying to get us to fail. This professor IS NOT setting ANYONE up for success. He should not be a professor and should be fired.
Don't ever take his class. No matter how hard you try you'll still be wrong. I went to office hours just to come out with more questions. I went to tutoring centers to get more help, he still says I'm wrong. He asks to show work on things that are difficult to show work for. If it's not to his liking, forget it.
so so bad. I learned absolutely nothing from him. He is difficult to follow and will mark you wrong for a correct answer if you do not do it the way he wants
Do not take this professor, avoid him like the plague. He grades insanely tough and even if you get a problem right you could still get it wrong b/c you didn't do it exactly how he wanted it. He offers little/no help over the course and spends a lot of the class not teaching MTH 302 he spends that time teaching stuff that have already been taken.
Gets off topic in lecture, is difficult to follow along. Tough grader, I tried to ask why I lost points and it was because I did not provide a citation (for a math problem) and when I showed him he said it's still wrong because it was in the wrong chapter even though it clearly wasn't. Overall terrible, don't take even if you're a good student.
Professor Haidar does not care about teaching you what you need to know about this class. He cares about how good you are at regurgitating exactly what he says and does and nothing else is accepted as correct.
This professor is by far the worst professor I've had in my academic career. The example problems and lectures given have nothing to do with what he puts on the actual exams. He grades differently for everybody and will mark you wrong even if you have the right answer but not his way. Avoid this professor to the best of your ability plz.
Professor Haidar is one of the most caring professors I have ever had. He cares about his students and offers a lot of extra help outside of class. Exams are extremely difficult, but his curves are HUGE. If you put in the effort, he will help you succeed. He is super funny and is very encouraging!! I highly recommend!!
Professor Haidar is so confusing and his lectures make no sense with the homework. He grades you on if you show your work but to get it correct it has to be the exact way he shows in lectures or you won't get credit. He doesn't want you to get help from outside sources. I'm now switched to credit no credit because this class would ruin my GPA.
Professor Haidar has a specific teaching style, but if you engage with it and use Unstuck ai for exam prep, you can do well. The class is challenging, but the curve helps. Attend lectures and do practice problems.
The harderst grader I have ever had. If you dont get the EXACT wording correct you will likely lose all points on a problem. Posts 3 hours of videos a week MINIMUM. Then lectures in class about the same thing using the same examples. Gets very frustrated sometimes when students dont understand what he is saying.
I LOVE math, my lowest math grade was a B+ in calc 1, I got A's for calc 2, and 3. This class made me question myself, and after some time, I know I still love math. This class was way too tough, for how easy it sounds in other schools. People take this at GRCC and have the easiest time. This professor will make it much harder than need be.
