She made everything really hard. Did not help you study for test's, and she makes you ready 3 long boring books for the class. I had to drop her class.
There is a lot of reading involved but if you do it, you should be fine. Long lectures can be hard to sit through sometimes but I did learn a bunch. A lot of people complain about her but it's not really all that hard to do well.
Her class is 3 papers, quizzes, midterm & final exam. It's mostly multiple choice but sometimes there are short essays. She is clear & very educated but she talks like a textbook so it can be dry. The papers are on 3 historic books so there is a lot of reading involved. Quizzes are from book content. 1 absence allowed. You will do well if you read.
Professor Middleton has a defferent approach to teaching american history. She basically makes you sit through and hour and 15 minutes of powerpoint slides where everyone is rushing to copy down the slides word for word. The three books that we read really could have made this class AML2010. Read the text book study hard and you'll get by.
a little boring but shes very nice, read the chapters and u will do well
Run for your life!!!
the easiest class ever, i have her for AML2020, all you have to do is 2 in class essay, and read the chapters, and sadly listen to her dry letcure... i hate history and i passed with A... so take her you will do just fine..
One of the most helpful professors I have ever encountered. Teaches a very clear class, and did not overload me with homework. Usually sticks to slideshows which isnt the always extremely stimulating, but is always easy to follow along with. As long as you read what she assigns, you will do well in this class.
Avoid her at all costs. If you can sit through he boring lecture for an hour and 15 mins awake you might pass. Read the book, copy the powerpoint, and do every single essay. Shes very lenient. Goodluck, i escaped with a C
Mrs. Middletons enthusiasm and knowledge for history is contagious. I would definitely take another one of her classes. My intrest in our history has increased significantly due to this class.
Mrs. Middletons enthusiasm and knowledge for history is evident. I would take another one of her classes. My intrest in our history has increased significantly due to this class.
Dr. Middleton is a wealth of knowledge! She is one of the most enthusiastic and well-qualified teachers I've ever had. She emphasizes reading and her lectures are very thorough. If you take her, prepare to do the work- she helps if you need it.
GREAT TECHER!!! SO NICE. THE CLASS IS EASY 2 ESSAYS AND 3 TESTS. READ THE BOOK AND YOU WILL DO FINE! JUST MAKE SURE YOU COME TO CLASS.
She really knows her stuff...very boring class. You spend your class copying notes from her slides while she lectures. You have to read the chapters to pass the test. She is a really nice person but can get a bit irritated. If you really like history I recommend her but if not try to get another professor.
wow SO boring don't listen to those other comments i wanted to kill my self after the first 10 minutes of the first class... i'm dropping her today, and you should run away from this lady's class she makes you stay late as if shes trying to kill you of boredom.
If you dont read the book your lost!!! Her reviews are helpfull but not enough to pass the tests... If you can read and retain this class is for you...if not good luck!! reading the book is mandatory if your looking to ace this class!!!! Her lectures do not follow her test...she loves to talk about history and she loves talking....oh yeah no leavin
she is a wealth of knowledge, very smart, but does lecture for most of the class. Just have to participate in class, show up to class, must do the extra credit, and you will do fine.
Very nice prof. The class is interesting but very long. You have to study little but you will get an A. Talk with her to know you will be for your own good.
talk alot and lots of writing during class time. she requires you to read the book and if you can tell her what you learned that will earn you extra credit. tip: she hates cell phone use n class!
shes nice as a person but really boring as a proffessor. she lectures the whole class and never asks questions. if you are good at studying by yourslef you will get a good grade. shes serious about attendance. you better show up.
She lectures the whole class, and she is very boring. Overall a pretty easy class
easy, you should take her if you want an easy A
She is boring, Just talks and talks the whole class. If you show up and study for the tests you will be ok. We had 3 essays to write. She also assigns alot of extra credit. Got a A in the class, Easy class, but a boring teacher.
So easy! Record the reviews she does in class and do the online reviews! Also, make your own review based off the information. I got A's on all of the tests. Suuuper easy! Only thing that is hard is the in-class essays, I got B+'s on those.
Don't need the book. Record her reviews and do the online reviews. Same exact information. Easy.
Dr Middleton's class is SO EASY. Seriously, If you dont get an A, I dont see how you tie your shoes in the morning. She gives you the answers for the test the class before, then curves the test 15 points. There are 2 essays to write, and if you stick to the content she assigned and write above a 3rd grade level you should have no problems.
I took her online class in the fall. She took forever to get back to me via blackboard. She always forgot to open the quiz and she took forever to grade the discussions. She is very unorganized. There is a lot of reading, you have to read all of the chapters. There is a quiz every week sometimes twice a week, but they are multiple choice.
Highly Recommend taking during the summer-no essays. Classes r longer and boring but she does teach well. Gives review for test. A lot to study but if u get the overall picture ur ok. No tricks on test. Ez class just take notes & study
soooo borring. essays are hard and she gives all answers to the exams which are easy.
This is a pretty easy class as long as you read the chapters and take notes. Dr. Middleton is very good at lecturing. I read some comments about her being boring but I find she has humor about history and makes it interesting:) She gives reviews and flash cards that are almost always exact on the tests.
EASY! study her flashcards and review that she gives before each test and you're guaranteed an A. she's is extremely boring at times though
Not the best teacher very boring and isn't clear about what she wants on her test this class will piss you off beyond beliefs!!!! Run for your life!!!
Great Professor/Historian, knows her history and explains the material in an excellent understanding point of view, makes class fun and the material interesting!
Easy class. Took for summer no papers just three test. She says you need books you really don't. I studied flashcards on webpage the test are pretty much those. My brother never studied he passed with a B. Disussions you don't have to participate but be in class you get points for that practically. And curves test.
I enjoyed her class, she is a very interesting teacher, while she does ramble about her family sometimes it's worth taking her class if you love history.
She is a great teacher. Can be a bit boring but she knows her stuff and if you ask her for help, she is more than happy to help you. She is very clear of what she wants and takes the time to review and tell us to do the flashcards. Her tests consist of them. Attendance is MANDATORY. Always have an excuse. Can be any excuse. Very little work.
GREAT TEACHER! Loves her subject. Gives great leactures. Tests are hard so make sure you study and go prepared, but she gives you all the material you need and even posts flash cards on her website. Defiantely reccomend.
VERY HELPFUL AND COMPREHENSIBLE, LOVED HER CLASS!!!!!! EVERYBODY SHOULD TAKE HER FOR THESE COURSES AMH2020 AND AMH2010
I usually don't enjoy History but she made it absolutely fun. And I for once paid attention in a History Class. She is very kind and helpful, best teacher to take for History!
Dr. Middleton was very clear and straightforward as to what was required to be successful in her class. Participate in the class discussions, do the assigned readings, peruse the slide notes she provided, and do the flash card activity. I enjoyed the discussions and lectures by Dr. Middleton. I wish I could take more of her classes. She's Excellent
Dr. Middleton made this class as easy as possible. She isn't the most interesting professor but she does know what she's talking about and wants to help students understand. I took her during the summer and we did not have to any write papers and had three exams.
Dr. Middleton's passion for her field translated through every class. I am a history major and felt that I was well served by her curiculum. In honors we read three additional books (monographs), then wrote papers-very effective. The tests represented everything in the textbooks, no surprises. Show up, read and study well; you should receive an A
I took this class because I was really interested in history. She knows her stuff knows alot of things, but the class tend to be boring at times. She has a funny voice. She has slides and cards on her school webpage which helps you prepare for her tests alot. I recommend.
WORST RUN and RUN fast! She is TOO old to be teaching and she talks like she has marbles in her mouth.
Middleton is a very strange lady. Boring, but sometimes funny. She gives in-class essays which she grades harshly & gives flashcard/board reviews for the test so theres no reason to get a bad grade. I didn't read anything from the book and passed with an A.
The in-class essays are not graded easily; in fact, she gave me an "F" for the grammar portion of one essay. Really? She underlined words that were spelled correctly and tried to correct sentences that were phrased properly the first time. Other than her questionable essay grading methods, you can pass with a “B” if you study for the tests.
Professor Middleton is very intelligent. She knows so much about history. It's nice to be taught by a teacher with passion for the subject. She does not grade her essays unfairly, you probably just didn't study long enough. She adds extra points to tests which was helpful. I highly recommend her! She is so nice and wants to see everyone pass.
Mrs. Sallie was a great and unbelievable teacher. I would recommend taking her class AMH2020 in the summer because it was one of the most easiest classes ive ever taken. She gave a full review which was exactly what was on the test and flashcards reviews. her humor is a bit odd but overall GREAT!!
Professor Middleton is a very smart lady but she gets extremely boring. She's very soft spoken so I don't recommend sitting in the back of her class. Just do the journal work and pass the exams, you'll do fine!
Easy class as long as you come and participate. Tests are exactly like reviews. She is very knowledgeable and loves history. Great teacher.
Loved this professor. She was extremely sweet and loves what she does which makes learning more fun. She really knows her stuff which is the best kind of teacher. Definitely learned a lot.
She's a great teacher! she knows what she is talking about, and makes it really hard to fail her class. If you dont like history you might find her and the class boring but she's really nice and willing to explain things if you dont understand.
She is a great teacher, loves what she teaches, and knows the material well. She will help you understand if you are confused about something. It is very difficult to do badly in her class unless you don't show up or you try to fail. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
pretty straightforward about what you'll be tested on, and easy. In her knowledge throughout the ages class it was kind of like philosophy; no textbook, but books that you must read. In class it could get boring because all we did was discuss what we read, but in the process you can ask her questions, just make sure to be detailed and she'll help.
Good Lord don't take this class. I'd say about 5 people fell asleep every class. She talks and talks and talks. And I love history! Had to force myself to go to class but she is fairly easy if you can manage to stay awake for the assignments. Don't say I didn't warn you.
Taking this class was the biggest mistake. I read all these good comments about her but were all lies. I could not understand one word during her lectures and she says "right" after every sentence which drove me crazy. I hate history in general but needed this class. Do not take her. she is knowledgeable but extremely boring. Makes us do journals.
I would not suggest that anyone take any of her classes unless you're a history major. She is very unclear with her lectures, I will say she is very knowledgable but it was a HORRIBLE class. There are three tests, and the only hw is a journal which she collected twice. Only used 'for the record' because of the journals, never opened the other book.
She may know a lot about the subject, but her lectures are VERY unclear and the notecards she provides do not always correspond to the test. Her lectures are very long & boring, unless you are a history major. If you don't read, there's a high chance you won't pass. Miss a class? She'll deduct points. Highly recommend looking for someone else!
She is an Amazing person, She has a heart and she is willing to help u if you just come to her after class BUT her class is definitely very boring unless u genuinely love history. She does not let class out early.. Just come to class listen and do the Journal and study for the exams and you should pass
Good professor, you can tell she knows what she is talking about. Long, long lectures. 4 tests, requires you keep a journal and add book discussions to it. Got a C in the class but that's because I didn't study as hard as I should have. Does a little extra credit. She wanted class participation on book discussion days but only a few participated.
FYI: I took Honors. Intense curriculum; a lot to juggle, but workload proved to enhance the learning experience. She's a passionate, active historian. She'll also loosen up to friendly students. Long lectures, but she's open to discussion. Great feedback on papers. Tough tests, but she forgives questions everyone missed. Nice teacher, nice person.
Very passionate about history. She requires quite a bit of reading (three full length books in addition to the course material); along with book reviews. You may feel overwhelmed (especially with the journal), but in the end you'll have a new appreciation for the subject!
Professor Middleton is VERY knowledgeable about her subject. She is passionate about history ad it's nice to take a class from someone who wants to be there. Assignments are manageable and she gives great test preparation.
She makes you really work for everything. you must read everything she assigns and completely understand it or else she kinda gets annoyed. she is also not good with replying an email
Not one but TWO books to read for this class, and at the same time. Lectures are long, monotone, and boring. But if you put the dedication and work in, you will be fine. Its not an easy A.
She was super boring!! Nice lady but her voice would make anyone fall asleep!!! Her multiple choice test are extremely hard and she would not prepare her students for them.
Has a unique voice, and if you're not really interested in history you'll find her class very boring. However, she's very knowledgeable and very enthusiastic about the subject. Doesn't give homework. She's pretty clear cut.
Easy class as long as you participate and read the assigned pages. She's very helpful and sweet. Her lectures can be a little confusing but you have to study the flash cards to pass the tests.
Her lectures are really long and all over the place and difficult to follow. This makes the time spent in class mostly irrelevant to what's going to be on the tests, which is frustrating to say the least. Why even teach a class if all of the actual work is done at home in the textbook? Why do we need you as a professor if you don't teach anything?
This professor was absolutely incredible I truly enjoyed listening to her lectures. She's very helpful with her students and her tests are incredibly easy. Absolutely one of the nicest professors I've ever had and she makes even the dullest topics in history fun
I fail the class, because she make the class that very dreadful and boring. The way she teach is very long, boring and she is all over the place. You easily get lost and don't know what, she talking about.
Expect to teach yourself the material in this class. Ms. Middleton is by far one of the sweetest people i have ever met. She is very funny but her lectures make no sense. Read the chapters because that is the only way you can pass. She is more than willing to help anyone. She gave us our final and extra credit paper and final response to take home!
Love her! Dr. Middleton was so sweet and kind. Not only that but she was incredibly knowledgeable in her field, and was able to deliver the information to the class in a way that made it easier to understand. Take this professor, you won't be disappointed!
She is very nice and loves what she does, but the class overall is very boring. Every class is lectures and notes if its not a test or an essay. You have to absolutely love history in order to pay complete attention in class.
I enjoyed this class and the material we learned. The tests are hard and you need to study to do well. Most of the tests are given 10 extra credit points. 3 essays and 3 tests are all the grades put in. Heavy lectures but they have a lot of good information. Listen and take notes and you'll get at least a C.
I don't think I've ever encountered a history teacher so knowledgeable! She is a fountain of information and she clearly loves her field. She definitely will make you read and work. She challenges everyone to reach their potential and teaches the class like what it is- college level!! She treats her students like capable adults and I respect that.
Prof. Middleton is a walking history lesson- even talking with her in the halls becomes a lecture that the school should be charging for. Sure she's sweet and funny, but you'll get an amazing education if you listen and learn and care about history and why it's so important today. This is the first history class that I ever liked- would take again.
The only professor I've had an issue with so far. She skips around material a lot and doesn't clearly answer questions asked by students. She doesn't use slides, which is fine, but it would be nice to have her involving students in discussion. Would not suggest taking her to anyone I know. Now I know why there were so many open seats for this class
Professor Middleton is THE BEST!!! SHE IS HIGHLY INTELLIGENT! She truly cares so much for her students, and really loves getting feedback from students inspired by the grand world of history! Her note cards are truly helpful, and are like the test she gives. She truly puts alot of devotion into being a great Professor! God Bless her!
Very passionate about history. Lectures all class based on a PowerPoint. Your grade is based on three tests, but reviews the class before. Emails you the study guide, which is exactly what her tests are on. Also, one essay for each test, but emails you the prompt before. Participation is 10% of the grade. Provides extra credit opportunities.
Prof Middleton is SO knowledgeable about history and is a walking textbook. but Your entire grade are 3 tests so study up and you'll be fine. She gives a test review and has online flashcards that are EXACTLY whats on the tests. She gives the essay prompt in advance and lets You use a flashcard on the test. Just study and youll pass. Super easy A!!
Professor Middleton is extremely passionate about history. Her class consists of three tests of equal value. Provides you with a study guide (exactly whats on the test.. LITERALLY) and provides the essay prompt ahead of time (Allows one flashcard to write notes on for the essay) Take this class, it's easy and you learn a lot.
You teach yourself, lectures long and Very boring, so much hw questions for each chapter all written response, doesn't explain the class.
She uses Tophat and its pretty much like taking an online class because the textbook, attendance, tests and homework are online. But you still have to come to class for participation credit. overall not a big fan of tophat, but she's nice and gives you study guides exactly like the test, but you'll be doing a lot of the learning yourself.
Nice lady, but her lack of organization, and inability to respond to emails makes this class challenging. The amount of homework that is expected is almost impossible. Each chapter of reading and questions takes over 3-4 hours, all while still going to class and having to work a full time job. I am a responsible 4.0 student btw... RUN AWAY!!!!
Professor Middleton is the sweetest lady I've ever taken in college. Her lectures aren't boring nor does she talk the entire time, they're interactive and students are encouraged to have discussions. You need to do the assignments (which was my downfall), but if you stay on top of the homework, this class will be super easy and really fun
Hybrid class. A lot of reading homework, gives good lectures.
This is by far one of the most confusing and frustrating classes to be apart of. This semester I am taking CHEMISTRY AND SPEECH along with this class and this is the class that gives me the most stress. It like your taking a online class that you still sit in class and listen to her babble all class. Homework is EXCESSIVE . Don't take her
Enjoyed this class, show up, do homework, gives great exam practices and gives answers what will be on exam. Make sure you study, it is college.
The professor is really nice and passionate with history. If you struggle, talk to her, and she'll understand and do what you can to help you. but unfortunately, the issue is TopHat, Everything from work to attendance is managed by TopHat, not her. You can even skip class and get away with it. The homework load tends to be excessive as well.
An issue with Tophat and codes right on the first day of class. I had to go through so much just to get it fixed, and she never once apologized. Also, she claimed she'd open the grade book after the midterm, but she didn't. We had no idea what we had in the class until the final grade was posted on blackboard. Tried to ask but it wasn't updated.
Yes, there are tophat issues but she's not tophat. Make sure to start ahead of time because she needs time too. Tophat issues aren't her fault. She's kind and patient but she is still new to Tophat. DON'T BUY FROM BOOKSTORE. TOPHAT WEBSITE IS WAY LESS!
By far the worst classes I've taken. She lectures for the whole class and gives a mini quiz at the end of the lecture. She provides 4-7 days to do the homework that takes about 2 hours total. There are only two tests (midterm and final) and a research essay that will make or break your grade. Homework and attendance are mandatory.
Her lectures can be long but very interesting. She isn't based on history as most professors are today and she explains things in a way for your memory to retain the information easily. Pay attention, do the homework and you'll get your A.
Lectures are a little heavy but super informative. Complete the TopHat material and you're set.
Professor Middleton uses Tophat not Blackboard for everything we do & we get massive amounts of homework & yes I get its college but get ready to do 50+ questions with only few days to do it if you have other classes than this one I dont recommend! you will struggle. Shes monotone & her lectures are extremely heavy with information.
I just had middleton for fall 2020 online and the class itself was super easy, she assigned all her work on tophat and the homework itself was super easy. Her lectures usually end before the time class is supposed to end and she's super sweet and will definitely help you out if you reach out to her.
Prof Middleton was awesome! She really is knowledgeable in her subjects and is always available for help! She uses tophat and zoom which at first were weird but better than collab and canvas! It is a little homework heavy, and one paper at the end. 1 midterm, 1 final, awesome class, awesome professor! Would take again
Professor Middleton is honestly such a sweetheart but the use of TopHat is truly an inconvenience. She does none of the grading and everything is mostly graded through TopHat including attendance. The homework on there is heavy duty and can require a lot of time if you don't get it done as soon as it's assigned. Other than that she is very nice.
Just No! Paid for a Textbook only to have limited access to it. She talks the whole entire time from start to end nonstop. Class is boring. She assigns work as if students are only taking her class. 7 page essay dued during the holiday along with 167 questions assignments dued the same week.
1 midterm, 1 paper (gives you a month & 1/2 to do), 1 final exam. Assignments take up 90% of your time in this course but are only worth 30% of grade. Kind of hard to contact outside class and relies on TopHat for communication (but you don't need to really). Homework is very easy to cheat on which is downside. She is older so be patient with her.
Long and boring lectures, tries to be funny and is if you understand.
She uses Top Hat, and she allows you to have your computers out during class, so you can do your homework while she lectures. She does curve Midterm and finals. I have taken her for the past 3 semesters, she is a very nice lady.
I honestly don't know why her rating is low. I was worried for taking her class, I wanted to take an easy history class and this was the only available option. Professor Middleton is very easy going and tells you what's on the test. If someone struggles in her class it's out of pure unintelligence.
Not a bad course, make sure you pay attention and keep up, you need to be in class to answer questions within the lecture. However, Middleton's obvious biases and personal views leech into her teaching; she doesn't provide a good look at things like 20th century politics or the Civil War. One of the least informative history teachers I've taken.
She's nice and her classes are just her lecturing and sometimes we'll have to answer a question on tophat. Her midterm and final are questions from our homework and if you study the study guide she gives you'll do fine. We had 1 paper and she gave us plenty of time to do it. I wish more students were engaged in the class so it broke the tension.
This professor uses tophat where assignments are long but you can get away doing half, you just have to do really well on the paper, midterm and final. There are reading and hw assignments then two discussions questions that can be up to 90 questions total everyweek, sometimes a bunch due within days of each other. Her lectures are long and boring.
This class seems difficult at first, but the online course directs you to the answers, and you can copy and paste directly with no points taken off. The study guide she gives is the exact test you will get, so I suggest doing them and memorizing them. Very easy A if you follow this.
Middleton's class can be a mixed bag, but with the right approach it's manageable. The lectures can be dry, but her study guides are spot-on. Using unstuck study along with the textbook made preparing for exams much easier. Overall, not a bad option for an intro history credit.
She's rude - Use top hat for attendance - Top hat assignments be having 80-100 questions and due like the next 2 days after her class - 7 page essay - AVOID HER CLASS
She doesn't listen to her students when they speak. She just talks over them and continues lecturing. She is not very aware of what's happening during the class, as well as online. Everything in the class is online through top hat and canvas, despite her not being able to navigate the online systems. Im sure she's a sweet person.
