She is an outstanding instructor and is very intrested in the needs of her students. She wil email you right back or call you. We need more like her.
Best instuctor for anthropology. Very clear and doesn't change in the middle of the syllabus. she is outstanding.
Great teacher! Wish there were more like her: her enthusiasm for the subject is highly contagious. Approachable and VERY helpful!
She says STUFF and THINGS LIKE THAT alot. If that doesn't bother you (it bothered me) then she's ok.
She is ok, the class is easy. I took her online, I thought the test are little bit hard, if u study u'll do fine.
VERY INTERESTING LECTURES
Was not available for the first week of the online course.

This is the best online instructor you can get if you study. Tests are hard, the syllabus clear and simple. Just do the required work.
Great instructor and very good lectures. The syllabus is straightforward and easy to understand. Tests can be difficult but passable.
She was wonderful! I wish there were more professors like her. I would definately sign up for another one of her classes again.
Ive only taken her at school class and she was a fantastic teacher. Her class had 2-3 essays and worksheet assignment that were nothing more than reading an article and answering the questions. She showed excellent movies portraying other cultures. If you want to enjoy learning about the world around you..taken Billings.
Great online professor, just read syllabus and do all the work. Responds to emails and questions. Tests cover book, online notes, powerpoints, and CD, so study them all and dont fall behind. Fair grader.
I'm taking this class online. Its a lot of work. Take it over a full semester length and not a short course. READ the chapters a few times, take notes, read your notes, read her notes, watch her powerpoints, and you should do okay. Don't bother to ask for help though, I got none.
Great teacher. She was very helpful through the short course class. A lot of work and fast paced, but I enjoyed it. You will learn a lot.
I really enjoyed this class. I learned so much. The online summer course is very fast paced but I felt the work load was manageable. For the exam, don’t just remember the terms (band, foragers, etc.) but remember which tribes the terms apply to.
Fun and interesting teacher, as well as a fair grader. Tests were a little detail oriented, but this is offset by being open book. Highly recomended
Billings may be a fair enough teacher in person, however, I found her online class rediculous in the sense that she was NEVER available, had an enormous amount of work assigned, w/references not available (web-links) & material that we were graded on in exams that were never covered in lecture notes or the text. Her superior attitude was insulting!
Great class, teacher very helpful, lots of reading and homework but worth it if you want a good grade.
Prof Billings was great! I never had a problem getting a hold of her. She was very helpful with discussion postings online. Not an easy class in the regard that reading is a must! DO NOT GET BEHIND! Tests were challenging, lots of homework, but beneficial in the end. I'd take a class of hers again!
I took Cultural Anthropology from Sally and loved the class! I did not have a lot of interest before the class, but do now. I learned a lot and found the class to be very challenging. I have recommended Sally to many other students.
LOVED her class. Her syllabus seems a bit demanding at first but she is human and understands life situations. She was fairly timely in responding. I have taken 6 online classes and her's was organized and straight forward. Recommended highly if you're busy, but still have a dedication to school.
I took her short term class this semester and she was very helpful. I though her class was easy but I could've definately done better...
I wish I could have taken her "live" class but it was only offered online, although she does take her time to grade your stuff it's because she comments on most of it so it helps you see things that you might have missed, the material was pretty easy to understand (then again my major is linguistics so you can really take my word for it hehehe)
I have greatly enjoyed this past semester with prof. Billings, and have signed up for 106 (linguistics) with her in the fall. I in no way found this class to be difficult, but to be fair I am an anthro major.
Online class was a little difficult but it was my first online class and it was a 3 week class at that.
She was a cool teacher. Her class was very easy, show up do your assignments and you should be fine. We never used the book in class, you might want it to study but not mandatory. The disc with the articles is the only thing really need for the class assignments.
I took her 4 Anth 101 online in the summer & it was ridcules the amount of work she gave us. We had to watch two movies & 2 responses, 1 in the new art & write about it & respond 2 1 other person's art, read 1 art from dvd about 30pg then write bout it & respond 2 others post. then 100 question timed test. each week!
I wasnt looking for a easy A I expected to do class work but on top of all the writting assisments the 3 test were worth most points there was not enough time to take the test and the test were random questions, allot of them weren't vocab questions. Granted she is nice. She is very unclear on her syllabus.
I recommend this teacher. I took a online summer course, 4 weeks. There was a lot of work to do but it was pretty simple not to difficult. You do have to study for the exams and make notes from the book and her explainations She explains everything very clearly and she is understaning if you email her
First thing I thought to myself after looking at the syllabus is "ARE YOU SERIOUS?" Don't listen to students who rated this professor as an easy one. In this class you MUST read HUGE articles and then compare it to HUGE chapters in a textbook. She must think we have no lives. It is like an essay a week. TONS of work and so little time. My Grade: F
VERY INTIMIDATING. I'm surprised that people like her as a teacher, but then again most people took her in an online class so that's different. SHES VERY UNCLEAR in syllabus. She tends to be very sarcastic to her students. She expects you know everything. I like the class, but definitely not her as a teacher.
She has a major attitude. She doesnt keep me motivated. I regret being in this class
This is the hardest class ever with tons of work daily
you do not actually need the book (unless you get it to get your own notes).the cd it is necessary. she is not that polite. once i asked her when was the day we have to turn in the group project and she just said look over on the syllabus. i did like her class but her attitude not so much. if you text a lot then do not take it trust me!
I took her online 8 week class. Consisted of 8 reading assignments, 4 exams (including the final), and 1 final paper. It was pretty easy. I never read the book, I just looked questions up when taking the test, and I got an A. You do have to read for the weekly reading assignment, but it's easy.
there were things she said in class that were not accurate. sometimes you ask her a question and she doesn't know the answer. tests are difficult and barely on what is discussed in class. all tests are online and if you have computer problems good luck! she won't let you retake. thanks for nothing.
She does require that you put in the efford in her class, which is great. Her teachings have structure which is hard to find in classes now a days. I have not taken her 101 class but I do have to say she is a great higher level professor though. READ your text books, lectures slides and attend classes you will be fine.
She is a very very very nice teacher and is more than willing to help if you don't understand but her class is a little boring and her test are kinda hard.
I took her World Archaeology class and I leanred a lot. It is a great class, there are even field trips (which I did not go to) She is tolerable and really knows her stuff. Be prepared to study and really do your work. Lectures are a bit boring sometimes, but I would recommend her class!
I took this course fall 2010 online. It was good learned a lot involves reading a lot. You have to put time into it. The class isn't hard but you do need dedication, and you must do the disscussion board posting read the fine print. If you miss more than 3 postings all semester your overall grade will me dropped by 10% sucks I had an A and ended B
Simple class. Notes every day. Kind of boring. Her problem is in her class structure. She takes role before class starts. More than 3 absences/TARDIES (including 1 minute late, if she has taken role already) results in a D grade, which she makes you talk to her about AFTER you can withdraw from the class. She works situations 'case by case.'
We had, I believe four tests ONLINE. She gives you two attempts at each test and averages the scores. She also assigned homework, but it was easy. Class was BORING and she had a little bit of attitude. She also took attendance at the beggining of class like if we're in elementary. Show up to class, stay awake, and do your work and you'll pass.
While her class may be a bit boring, if you pay attention to her lectures you will learn the content. She is very helpful, and will do her best to make sure you understand what she is talking about. Show up, do the work, and pay attention and you have an easy A.
Her tests are very hard, but the homework was easy. The paper was a bit intense but worth learning how to do. She takes attendance everyday and is quite strict about it. I suggest making friends in the class so you can study together, because once again the tests are HARD.
I took this class during the summer on a 4 week accelerated track online. It was overall easy. 2 discussion post per week. 1 video to watch per week and a midterm and a final. No paper.
Took online course in Fall. The textbook is only used for test and quizzes. She also is kind enough to write extra notes for you to help you understand, but you still have to write your own if you plan to get an A. The CD that was required for the class had many interesting articles in it and I enjoyed writing about them. Not a heavy workload class
online accelerated 8 week class is VERY easy if you actually participate. Class is broken up into 4 modules with an exam in each. Exams are not comprehensive - they only cover what is being discussed in that module, nothing prior. Two short papers due each week. You have to read the text to understand the tests but overall very easy!!
Took the online 8 week course and there was a lot of reading involved. The tests were difficult to me, but the weekly assignments were fairly easy just time consuming. She is very helpful and clear in what she wants, I enjoyed her class.
All the Homework and Testing is done online. comming to class is still mandatory though
She is awesome. She is so into what she does. I would study really hard but I didn't do so well on the tests. Homework and quizzes are online and the homework was time consuming but it did help a lot doing the homework and then the test would have questions almost exactly the same as the homework. I really liked we had 2 chances with the tests.
Sally loves what she teaches and you can get into it easily. her exams are DIFFICULT her homework are ok just have to read the questions first and then answer them by looking through the reading. attendance is mandatory she will talk to you after class if many absences or tardies are happening too often.
Beware tests are really hard even with ton of studying. There is a a ton of reading with at least three reading assignments a week and two writing assignments. She is a great teacher and very nice. The weekly assignments are interesting, fun and easy but again the tests are hard.
This class was frustrating. Tests were very hard even after reading the entire chapter. There also isn't a lot of time to complete the quiz. I had to rush through all of them, and I'm a fast test taker. She is very close minded and rude towards the topic of evolution, does not accept other opinions even when she asks for them.
I took the 8-week version of this course. Lots of reading. Tests are difficult, but just get used to the style. She asks very specific questions so it would be in your best interest to take notes, esp on specific examples given in the text. Two assignments due per week. If you do it how she asks, you'll get credit. Easy class, but required work.
Tests are very difficult, but honestly tests shouldn't be easy. You'll really have to dig for some of the answers and pay attention during lectures. That being said, all the tests are online and taken on your own time so.... Anyway, she is very willing to help with any questions and encourages classroom participation.
Online-8 week. It was extremely well structured and I loved it. You'll always know what to expect. For 8 wk-She assigns 1 articlevideo review, along with 1 assignment that asks around 5 questions over a given article (and you usually have a choice between 3 or more articles) per wk. And a quiztest every other Sunday. Easy A, barely studied
Greatly enjoyed my semester with her. She helped me understand my topic better and helped me understand what it means to be an anthropologist. I highly recommend her for anyone doing their capstone. Just be ready to research, research, research! There is NO textbook, but you will need to have resources for your paper.
I took this class online and it was really easy. There was a lot of reading (you pretty much read the entire textbook) but the weekly discussion posts were a piece of cake! Sally was clear with what she wanted from her assignments and I would definitely take this class again.
Sally is an awesome teacher and really knows the topic, its easy to get lost in the lectures. Has several assignments that i feel prepare you for your research paper. She gives great feedback to make your paper the best she can. Tests are brutal but if you learn by grouping concepts the tests are fine. You can take em twice so make sure you do.
I took the online 8 week course; the weekly work wasn't horrible, a reading assignment, two chapters, and either a video or article review. Four non-comprehensive exams on the computer, lecture notes not really necessary, everything is in the book. I'm sure one would get more from the class with lectures but overall it was an easy 3 credits.
I took the 4 week online course. She is very clear on what she wants, if you read the chapters she assigns and read the directions for the assignments you'll be fine. It isn't a heavy workload which I appreciate, three or four assignments due at weeks end. Great course!
Sally is very helpful. She care more about her students. I definitely recommend her, and gives good feedback.
Billings is a great teacher. She gives you everything you need to know on the syllabus and you can use older versions of the book. I took her 8 week online course over the Spring. There were two weakly post; one video post and one article post. There were also 4 non-comprehensive exams. The lectures and book give you everything you need for exams.
She has a bad attitude and very close minded.
The quizzes and assignments are easy as long as you do the reading. The quizzes aren't as hard as I had anticipated but overall I enjoyed the reading assignments and online class.
A wonderful professor! Easy class just do the work and you will!
I didn't use the textbook, but I came to class everyday & took notes. Class is basically lecture w/ PowerPoint. For exams, don't stress TOO much about locations and stuff but moreso the importance of them. There was also a research paper (pretty straightforward) and some weekly assignments (pretty easy). Interesting class/prof. Work for your grade
******************** Easy A! ******************** 1) Every week you'll read and article and answer an average of five questions. 2) Every other week you'll watch a video and write a review. 3) Every other week you'll read another article and answer an average of five questions. 4) You'll take a total of four exams, 50 questions each.
One of my most favorite professors and I've taken two of her classes. She has a wonderful and interesting personality, and really cares about the subjects she's teaching. She really helped me love taking Anthropology classes, and I'm always looking for an excuse to take one of her classes again. Pay attention, take notes as normal, and you pass.
So many spelling and grammatical errors. Come on, just proof read your stuff! Secondly, she says you need to use the textbook, and she provides powerpoints on each chapter, but neither are the same. The powerpoints are on completely different topics yet she claims they come from the book. She words things HORRIBLY. She makes no sense whatsoever.
I took her 8 week online course so it was a very fast paced class. I would really recommend you to request the textbook be printed and shipped to you because the exams are based off the book and her PowerPoints didn't help when taking the exams. Just do your assignments and discussion post and you'll pass. It was a very easy A.
She is a great professor, the lectures were very interesting and she explains a lot of the content so it is easy to understand. She really cares about what she is teaching
Prof. Billings was a very easy going and passionate professor. 4 tests all in which are online, weekly homework assignments worth 10pts and not complicated. Attendance is mandatory and you cannot complete the extra credit options if you miss more than 3 classes.
The lectures are pretty easy but the test will SURPRISE you!!!If you are in Anthropology major don't take this. This class is better for who just want to get the credits and pass. She gives extra credits that is due by dates which pretty much helps, and she is not a tough grader.
Great class. Mrs. Billings gives you all the tools that are needed to succeed in her class. This was a condensed 8 week class. There was a reading assignment each week along with either a discussion post on a video or an article. 4 tests throughout
For an 8-week course, the work load is very easy! I actually wish more homework was provided. The material was fun and interesting. She is not a tough grader either. Also, the exams are a breeze if you get the online book.
Professor Billings is a great teacher. She gives great lectures that are very detailed and includes fun activities sometimes. There are four tests that are online, open note. There are about 8 homework assignments that are due every week or every two weeks. She is very nice and teaches well. The class is easy, but showing up is mandatory.
Took the 4 week version of the class and it was way easier than I expected! 2 easy assignments a week and a total of 3 exams. All answers from the exams are located in the textbook. Billings is also easy to reach, so if you have any questions or concerns shell reply to you promptly!
I didn't get the textbook so the tests were difficult. Get the book! She does not allow make up assignments. Easy A-B if you do the work
Professor Billings is upfront and honest, but never rude or mean. She is also funny and very accommodating when it comes to relevant questions or comments in class. She has been teaching a long time and doesn't put up with excuses. If you plan on not attending class very much, don't bother. Her lectures are interesting and so is she.
Professor Billings is one of my favorite professors, she is very honest, and her lectures are amazing. You will learn a lot if you show up to class and listened.
Easy class, no need for a book, just print and read power points
Not my favorite subject but I still passed with an A and put very minimal effort. The book would have definitely helped but as long you read the information she provides and review the slide lectures you'll be fine. Tests are timed. You get two chances and receive the average score between them both. Quizlet helped alot for exams
Shes super nice. HUGE extra credit assignment at the end (if you havent missed a certain amount of classes. If you attend lectures tests are easy.
STAY AWAY from this professor! She is absolutely terrible!!! Tests are extremely hard and there are NO study guides. The tests don't even cover what she covered in book or slides. Book is a joke! It doesn't even have a glossary to help you. It gives you key terms that you have to figure out on your own. BEWARE!
Stay away from this professor. Too much busy work and tests are extremely hard. In order to pass tests you must memorize entire book
The class isn't hard as long as you keep up on the two assignments a week and the 4 exams. If you complete all the work there is an opportunity for Extra Credit. You do get the chance to take the exams twice with the average of both scores graded. She seems nice, but direct ( I took the class online).
She's understanding and truly cares for her students. I took an 8 week course and there's 2 reading/video assignments weekly and exams bi-weekly. Assignments close after the due date so make sure to stay on top of homework. If you turn everything in on time extra credit is offered at the end of the semester. Great teacher- I would take her again!
Professor Billings has a passion for teaching Anthropology. She uploads all powerpoints ahead of time, and lectures on them in class. There is 1 homework assign. a week, 3 exams, and a final. Everything that is expected of you is clear from the beginning. If you reach out to her, she always responds. There are multiple extra credit opportunities!
I decided to take Professor Billings class during the summer for anthro. It was a waste of my time. She was absent during the four weeks, She did not provide any reminders of when things were due and did not provide any lectures. If you want to learn anthropology don't take her class, it will be a waste of your time.
Excellent instructor! Super nice, easy to reach if you have any questions and she will help you out in any way you need. I liked how organized the workflow was, assignments easy and couple tests weren't bad as well.
Beware!!! Must memorize entire book! Book has way too many errors! Tests are extremely hard and most questions aren't covered in book or slides. . Tons of long unnecessary busy work and assignments. Make sure you go over your tests because questions are marked wrong when correct. I'm a straight A student and have never worked so hard to get an A.
Professor is nice, but the class is VERY hard. The book is very unclear and contradicting which makes it harder to pass the tests. Most of the test questions weren't ever covered in PPT's or textbook. A ton of reading and way too much unnecessary work which is VERY time consuming. If you are taking other classes, I would NOT recommend taking her.
I love Professor Billings! I would take another one of her classes in a heartbeat. I took her 8 week course, very simple as it is 2 assignments due each week, 4 exams overall. She is very easy to reach and is caring. Lectures come from textbook, be sure to really understand the material for the test and dont be afraid to ask questions! Great prof.
Super easy semester- I took the 8 week online course. Clear syllabus and assignment outline. 2 assignments per week and a total of 3 exams, plus a final. The textbook was just an access code and it is so worth buying (search bar is your best friend and it made assignments beyond easy) but you do not need it.
Took her 8 week class and was really easy! The assignments are mid. Your grade depends on the 4 tests you have throughout the course. Don't depend on her notes for you to pass the tests, you must write your own. The book is interesting and easy to read. I suggest taking her, you won't regret it (:
This professor inspired me to change my major. Thank you, Dr. Billings!
I took the shortened 8-week class and it was very straightforward. There were three exams with two attempts each and several assignments. She didn't send any emails or announcements to the class and I never heard a word from her but it was an easy A. This class is pretty much teaching yourself by reading the book.
Yes you will have to read!! It is an online class so you do have to teach yourself to some degree. That being said, I LOVED her class!! Two assignments plus peer responses each week. Four exams on the text book-noncumulative. Loved the variety of information and the class makes you think. A little effort and you will easily pass. (took 8wk class.)
This was a hard class. Her tests are 100 question and she gives 2 hours. You will not find answers online, make sure you study . You can re-take but it's a different test with many questions that you have to write the answers. She gives one extra credit opportunity at the end of the semester if you have all assignment turned in.
Online during Covid - if you have ADHD or a focus issue this would not be a great professor for you
STUDY STUDY! STUDY! Her exams are HARD. I struggle with them and I used all the allotted time she gave. She gives you 2 tries to retake her exams. If you retake her exams she takes the average from both exams. MOST of the questions are not the same. The weekly assignments was not too bad. There are 2 discussion assignments per a week.
To me, her exams were really hard. I read all the material and her PowerPoints didn't really help even if you went along with the video lectures she posted. I would constantly get frustrated because even most of her assignments, you're just on your own; she doesn't help much.
Only the Ebook was available, didn't tell us that so I drove to 2 stores looking also didn't post it in advance. 8 easy assignments, 4 hard exams. Lots of reading, and lectures. Some questions on the exams didn't coincide with the material we had gone over. I would find the answer in the next weeks material. Only gave feedback once. 2 Xtra credit
I took this course for 8 weeks. You get 2 assignments every week, and one exam every two weeks. The assignments consist of discussions and reading articles. Exams are difficult, assignments were simple.
Quizzes are based on video lectures, which are informative and detailed. Mrs. Billings gave feedback when my short answers were not satisfactory and when I did exceptional work. The final paper is straightforward if you follow her guides and rubrics. Overall, this course was easy and informative, and I would recommend it to anyone.
Attendance is mandatory. Professor Billings is animated and very knowledgeable in lectures. She answers questions in class and encourages discussion. Short essay assignments are easy if you pay attention in class/read the textbook. Online exams, all multiple choice. Two extra credit opportunities. I would definitely take her again.
Overall a fun course, here are a few notes; attendance matters, so be there as often as possible. There are only a few assignments but she won't remind you, so please check on the syllabus. The tests are difficult and timed so ask what all is going to be on the test and create a study guide for yourself. The tests are online so use the study guide.
I took a 4 week class for Anthropology 102, and it was very simple. There's a healthy amount of work that's due every Sunday. On top of that, the type of work that you have to do isn't outrageous or complicated. It's all straight to the point. I have had this teacher twice already, and would definitely take her class again if I ever had the chance.
Her class was straightforward and overall common sense, there was nothing to worry about and it had a pretty light workload only about 2-3 assignments a week due Sunday nights.
If you are able to take this class online, DO IT, For in person class, attendance is mandatory. She is very smart and clearly a subject matter expert of her material but the class is so boring. She side tracks sometimes and lets the rest of the class ask the most mundane questions.
Professor Billings was such a great professor. I never though I would find ANTH 202 (Archaeology) interesting but she definitely changed that. Even though it was an 8 week course assignments were fairly easy. Ended the class with 102% while take 4 more classes so if I did it anyone can, Easy A!
I wouldn't recommend the online class. Most online courses are recorded lectures and things but hers were basically just powerpoints and textbooks. She is available though for extra help and you can take the tests twice and your score will be averaged out which is great.
I decided to give her a chance even with a 3.8 rating because all the good professors were completely taken (I registered late). Biggest mistake of my life. She has this power trip with a big ego and she definitely looks down on her student. It's not worth the credit honestly, find another class or professor that wont belittle you.
There's a lot of reading: At least 1.) 1.5-hour lecture videos, two chapters of a free textbook, and 3-4 additional sources (5-10 pages each) weekly. While none of this is required, all information is fair game for weekly tests, and there's also a 5-10 page assignment each week. Get ready to work hard to get an A. (8 week course)
Easy A. Took the 8 week online course, healthy amount of work, 2 assignments a week, plus an exam every other week, 4 test in total, but simple. Class was very interesting, I loved all the material and have learned a lot in these 8 weeks. Professor was great as well and she is very kind! Would totally recommend this class and professor!
