Extremely unhelpful and not understanding. Quizzes over pointless trivia.
The class was a waste of time, and the material was taught more is squiggly lines and doodles than actual explanations.
i tried an online class, horrible. i tried an in class-class, horrible. HORRIBLE. (she's horrible).
Find a different teacher. Many questions on her tests are over pointless trivia. i'm sure that she has her strong points, but teaching isn't one of them.
Keely rocks! Hard teachers make u learn, if u wanna learn, take her
first of all her class alwase went past time. First of all she didnt actualy prepare as for the quiz I felt it was unorganized.
She is, in my opinion, a good teacher if you're serious about learning. If you're just taking the class for the credit requirements, though, I would advise you to take someone easier, because she is a very tough grader. Very nice person, though :)
This class is EXTREMELY fast pace. It's very hard to keep up (and you never get to go over any material).. However she's a nice person .. and she's very smart..
I HATE KEELY
Stay clear of this unless you are very into math and are able to catch on very quickly. She has poor examples and is very tricky on test/quizs. its half way through and over 60% has dropped and only 2 students of the remaining are passing. Horrible teacher but very good at doing math. Do not take!!!
Kelly is a nice person, but her teaching style is awful. She goes so fast through explanations that you don't get it unless you're a math genius. She expects you to know things. Also- no partial credit on quizes and tests! Horrible class! Would not recommend unless math comes easy to you.
She is too fast in learning and refuses to slow down for anyone. Good luck passing!
Keely would be a phenominal teacher if she cut her teaching speed in half. She explains the concepts very well, but way to fast to even attempt notes. Her tests are gratuitiously hard, as most of them lack partial credit. Even the ace students got no higher than a B on the final, most did far worse.
The enthusiasm and understanding of the subject is almost unparalleled, however her somewhat convaluted test questions made it more difficult than it had to be. She also gave exams that were multiple choice I personally find this to be a poor format for math exams.
Yes I agree that this is a tough class...HELLO, YOU ARE IN COLLEGE & the teachers are not there to hold your hand & ease you through the class. She is fast paced but truly the best math teacher I've ever had, always has a smile & is glad to explain problems. Sorry the others could not keep up!
Took the onlilne class and found it fairly challenging, but math has never been my forte. Keely was very helpful and attentive on the message boards and I felt she explained things well in her written lectures. I struggled at first but worked my butt off studying and managed an A in the end.
She is one of those teachers intrested in showing off what they know, not intrested in teaching. she loves math, but the speech she gives on the first day saying that only 20% of the ppl in the room will take the final and only a handful of them will pass
Very fast paced. Loves math, but doesn't seem to understand that not everyone is a math major or remembers everything that was previously taught. Prefers that you rely on your groups for help instead of asking her.

I think that the whole class was excellent. It was the final which threw me for a loop - I feel the material was incredibly hard compared to the work we had been doing throughout the quarter. Didn't quite match up. Otherwise, a wonderful woman who cares a lot about your learning.
Sally is great teacher; she went above and beyond. If you are looking for an easy A, then this class is not for you, but if you want to learn and have a teacher who really cares, then take this class.
Absolutely one of the worst instuctors I have ever had in the 150 semester hours of classes I have taken. She doesn't help you expects other students to help. What is she getting paid for? She uses material from 1998. Sylabuss and assignments are VERY confusing. Test are tricky. Beware take someone who is not going through the motions.
The online Math 090 course was worthless. Quizzes and exams are not really what mattered in the course. It is your postings on other students work criteria.I feel that this course was really bad and the instructor was very irrigant. Would not recommend this instructor to anyone........Poor course
Absolutly the worst instructor I ahve ever taken. This class was useless, I di not learn a dang thing. She is very self centered and grades you on the other students postings-so if your lost you are screwed....test and matter but not all that much. Uses material from 10 years ago. Do NOT TAKE HER!!!!
I am not a fan of online math classes and was roped into taking this one. I did not like the class but I did the work and got through it. If you are into online classes this is the best-organized online class I have ever taken, otherwise stay with the traditional class. Make sure you post each week for maximum points it could save you at the end.
I took her on line class and some of the material is confusing but she generously rewards hard work. Her on line class is very organized and was a good experience for my first on line class. I've never met her in person but she seems like a very nice lady.
Professor Keely herself seems to be very nice. She's very encouraging and positive. It is through no fault of hers that I hated this class. I love math, but taking math online is an exercise in frustration. Perhaps online classes work for some disciplines, but I don't believe math is one of them.
HORRIBLE TEACHER
Good Teacher
I have had Sally for 3 classes now and now that I'm done with math I will actually miss it. I have enjoyed her as a teacher. She's very helpful and exteremly kind. She defines what it means to be a great teacher!
Wonderful teacher. Very helpful. I took the online class and it was great.
I've taken 3 online math classes at Clark, with 3 different teachers. Sally was clearly the best. Participation is important in her classes.
(Online) Professor Keely is a wonderful teacher! I love that she gives the students a chance to respond to questions before answering them herself, it seems to solidify what I've learned! She posts every day with tips and hints on making the day's lesson easier to learn. I will definitely return to her 095 and beyond!
Sally is a great teacher, but if you take her class online, participation is really important. You will fail the class if you don't post at least 3 times a week. That can be difficult at times.
I thought Sally was an awesome instructor! I didn't find any of her expectations overwhelming in the least bit. But I could see how someone not very strong in math or online coursework may have trouble with her online class.
this was taken from her bio: " This is in line with my teaching motto, 'I am not here to teach at you, I am here to help you learn.' " Good or bad it is what it is....
5 week condensed summer term class was perfect for me. Prof. Keely provided a TON of support and feedback on how I was doing, giving me guidance on what I was/was not "getting". Loved the two chances for every quiz format. Class got me excited about taking future math classes. Strongly recommend Prof. Keely!
I took Sally two quarters in a row on-line 090 and 095 she was great. She is always on-top of everything, and always available she replies to post all the time she is very helpful. GREAT ON-LINE TEACHER!
Great teacher. Responds quickly to emails. But requires WAY to much discussion board posts!
Requires use of multiple websites (3 total) and requires way too much in regards to discussion board postings. More of a writing class than a math class.
She was very helpful when you reached out to her. The discussion boards are a little much writing but still a great online teacher.
too much of grade is based on discussion board. While I had nearly 100% on all math test I didn't put in enough discussion boards, So I only recieved a C.
The way her online class is set up is completely ridiculous. You have no homework and the discussion board is really confusing! If you are self-motivated you will probably do okay in this class. I recieved an F in this class and took it again with another teacher and recieved an A.
The reliance on discussion board is a little too much.
Too much emphasis on getting in minimum # of forum posts every week for participation points. Grade should be weighted more toward quiz/test scores. No homework but 90% of participation points come from posting homework problems. Quizzes are weekly, open-note and timed and so is the final.
She wasn't helpful in the least bit. She expected things but didn't give any guidance.
One of the best Math teachers you can have. She teaches you everything you need to know. Very helpful! Allot of the class is on the boards, which some might not like but if you make an effort she'll still give you credit. Her class gives you many test which makes ones you do horrible on not so bad. I highly recommend her to anyone struggling.
Sally is one of the BEST math teachers I have ever had! I have struggled with math my whole life, but since taking her classes, I am finally do well! I would be lost without the help we get on the discussion board! Her enthusiasm for the subject helps relate the material in a way that is understandable and fun.
Sally was very helpful with all of my questions. The class is intensive as far as online posts, but I did find that without those posts I would NOT have done well. She does a good job of relating the material to everyday problems.
I was very intimidated by the idea of calculus, not having been a natural at math. However, Sally's style of teaching, applying the concepts to real world problems, made the material much easier to grasp. She was always willing to go the extra step in explaining the steps and concepts. She is a great math teacher!
Sally is great! She is always there when you need help and never critizes you for not understanding, her online math classes are amazing! One of Clark's best!
Sally is a fantastic teacher! Her enthusiasm for the subject and dedication to seeing her students succeed makes the class enjoyable. She will go the extra mile to make sure the students understand the material, and is incredibly supportive about answering student's questions. One of the BEST math teachers I have had at Clark!
Sally made taking on a subject that I have always struggled with seem less daunting. If I had a question, she never let it go unanswered. If I still didn't understand she would work with me until I did. She is very supportive of her students!
Awesome, interactive teacher online! Discussion boards were very useful and Sally had a knack for getting us to all work together. I learned as much from my classmates as our teacher because of this. No homework "due", but helpful to complete. Weekly quizzes. Really stretches your brain wiht lots of new equations introduced and not covered in 091.
Professor Keely not only has a passion for the material she teaches, but she really wants her students to succeed. She can tell the difference between someone who is trying, and who isn't, and if you are the first variety, you will be rewarded. Work hard and prepare to learn a lot to prepare you for your next math course.
Keely is brilliant when it comes to knowing her subject and can explain it extremely well. Although her forum reqs are ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! She has a super ego and will only communicate if SHE feels it's viable. Beware mega egotistical, but what teacher isn't?
This class has 10 quizzes(two lowest scores dropped), Discussion board posts, and a final exam. The quizzes and final come straight from the homework (which is plentiful but optional). As for the discussion boards, guys really-I am terrible at math and they were a piece of cake! I had twice as much group work in my trig class. Thanks prof. Keely
In this class Fake is better the Real!! Participation is REQUIRED, check box provided. Tests- no wrong number feedback, pointless to try a second time, can’t improve if you don’t know what was wrong. Correct technical terms ONLY, if you use a synonym you are wrong and will be corrected. Also explain in detail assume nothing, explain everything.
Prof. Keely is GREAT! Super helpful and support. VERY active on the discussion boards. I learned SO much more than I ever have in a math class and I had fun too.
Honestly, these were the first math classes I've taken that sparked a genuine interest in the subject. The discussion boards are vital to success, but if you read the chapters and her lecture notes, you'll be fine. She's also very open to answering questions via e-mail and is almost always available. Would have loved to take more classes from her.
This professor is amazing She really makes sure you know the material, lots of explanation, she is truly involved and cares If you put the work in do the weekly study guides and take notes you will pass the quizzes. The discussions are a must to pass, but are are extremely helpful You get two tries per quiz if you give your self enough time.
I was expecting an independent study corse, but it turned out that more of your grade is from posting on discussion boards than learning the material. I was able to learn the material on my own, but had to withdraw because I didn't have any questions about the material. The tangle of 4-5 outdated websites didn't help either. I don't recommend this.
She teaches math and not only that but online math which might throw some people off. If you have experienced online classes before and have a timely schedule that can fit in extensive participation and timed quizzes, this might be a good choice for you. It worked for me but it does not work for everyone please consider carefully.
The only reason I didn't get an A was because of the stupid discussion boards. Shouldn't just your knowledge of "MATH" be more important??? I was super confused the first week because there was so much information about the discussion board. Honestly it is ridiculous... no other online math class has required this much discussion.
She was a very tough grader and I found her to be very rude. Extremely full of herself. She makes it very well known that she is a Professor. Her Syllabus is extremely confusing and hard to navigate. She is one of the only ones who doesn't operate with Canvas but instead has her own website. Avoid class if at all possible!
I couldn't even get past her syllabus. She doesn't use canvas but expects you to navigate through 3 different websites that are extremly confusing and better have it down real quick or she will drop you on day one. Real lack of understanding that these online courses are meant for those that are trying to get a degree on a busy schedule.
I really enjoyed Sally! I took her for 3 quarters and It was easy peasy. Make sure you understand how to post in the discussion boards "her way", and do the quizzes and you'll be fine. If you have a high enough grade in the class all quarter she'll even exempt you from having to take the final! I definitely recommend her.
This is the most over-organized class I have ever seen. After hours of looking at her 3 or 4 websites, non of them canvas, I was still confused. It was impossible to know what was expected of me and when I asked questions I received condescending responses. Maybe she is better than me, but she doesn't have to make sure I know it. Avoid at all costs
Focused on poststalking about it and not on actually learning it. If you have test anxiety you will fail because there is no credit for homework. She isn't helpful or understanding. I use to like math, but not any more.
Weekly quiz, No exams (except final), participation points are easy freebies. Any three days a week you need a combined 4 posts to post online, hint(11:58pm Monday, and 12:05am Tue two days!) I'm a C student for Calc and I got an A-. Two attempts per quiz, take one, review the material, try again and keep the better grade. Text Book NEEDED!
Participation on the discussion board is a must, there are plenty of opportunities to participate. If you don't find something interesting to comment on, try one of the worksheet problems. Even if you don't get it right, you'll still get credit for the post, and the opportunity to get input from others. Two chances at quizzes help with test anxiety
I enjoyed taking calculus online from Professor Keely. However, you must be self motivated because procrastination will kill your grade. Other students in the class are your best resource because she often won't provide immediate help or she will do so in a demeaning way.
I took Prof. Keely's online course this Summer and it was fantastic. Even though this was my first online class, and it was mathematics, I still prevailed. It is an online course so it demands a level of self-discipline, but it is maths. As long as you use the wonderful resources provided, you will surely pass. Obviously, I am not an English major.
It was an online class with required discussion board participation. The quizzes were challenging depending on how many application problems you did before hand.
Awesome teacher, by far the best math instructor I have had at Clark. She is extremely nice and helpful, her expectations are clear and would definitely take her class again, or recommend to another student!
The class its self is tough, but she gives space for errors and will omit your lowest weekly participation grade and your two lowest quiz grades. Also, just a heads up, there is one automatic A quiz, so she really wants you to pass by giving you so many chances! She also has online office hours so you can get help when you need it.
This class is not on Canvas like my other math classes had been, and hers looks like it's from the 90's. No homework, but discussions hold so much weight so be sure to participate. There's a quiz every week on MML. Each discussion has to be 75+ words and can be tricky if you don't understand the material very well. Ask for help if you need it!
Just make sure you keep up on everything and read what's expected of you each week and the class should go smoothly for you.
I took professor Keely's Mth 89 over the summer (Online) and she was great! Best math instructor I've had. canvas is not used so, the website takes getting used to but she is pretty laid back the first week. As usual online classes require participation and involvement. I found her extremely helpful and caring and the material was clearly laid out
Very understanding and helpful. Weekly participation on discussion boards, quizzes, and a final exam. No homework. Tests are pretty difficult compared to what's learned in the textbook. Drops lowest quiz score and discussion board score. Two attempts for each quiz. Replies to emails very quickly.
Prof. Keely is an amazing instructor. She has an organized online teaching strategy like weekly discussions, posts and quizzes with strict deadlines. No homework and no assignments but you have to do your own work diligently in order to get a good grade. Always helpful, approachable, encouraging and motivating. Highly Recommend!
This professor doesn't use Canvas she uses some weird out of date website that is difficult to navigate through and frankly makes no sense. She should use the same online tool (Canvas) like the rest of Clark College uses, that most of us are already use to. Her explanations aren't good and the way she lays her lectures out is complicated to grasp.
Grading criteria is laid out and as long as you participate in the weekly work, you'll be able to get a good grade out of the class.
The worst professor I've had. Rude and condescending, and refuses to use Canvas. Instead she uses a confusing and poorly-coded out of date website. I greatly enjoy math, and hated every moment of this class. I will never take this professor again, and highly recommend no one else takes her online, either.
She really cares for her students. Definitely would take another class from her!
I did not care for her teaching style or the class. I had the class online, and she makes you buy access to another online class outside of canvas that has videos. So she essentially is making you pay for an online class on another site where you also take quizzes. Then there were other assignments on a different site. All around complicated.
I took MATH152 online with Professor Keely. There is a weekly online exam (there are no answers onlineunderstand the material!) and 4 forum posts every week that have to follow guidelines. PLEASE search for "Prof Keely MathOL" to find important info!!! Your lowest week of posts' score and lowest test score are dropped, AND one test is a free 100%!
She uses two websites outside of canvas that have poor navigation. She also has a website for her syllabus and faqs (very long). There are many requirements and very specific due dates every week. If your schedule does not work with her due dates, you wont pass. Her teaching style is posting some lessons, but you must learn material on your own.
Her website is very hard to use at first, you kind of get used to it though. There is WAY too much detail to possibly remember everything required, you'll need to reference the syllabus often for forum posts, etc. If you cannot teach yourself/aren't good at math, this class is not for you. Very nice person but also a bit crazy in love with math.
Hardest online class I have ever taken in my entire college life! The instructor uses 2 different websites and her system is so hard to follow. She is too complicated and you do not know what she wants from you exactly. If you want to pass this class you need to check her posts DAILY to keep up. Too hard and complicated. I do not recommend, at all.
Do not take Math103(Trig.)online unless you're not taking any other classes or are willing to teach yourself. Forum post are mandatory(4 perweek minimum) and weekly quiz. There isn't any exams, other than the final. You WONT find any answers online for the quizzes and they are timed (45 min. & two attempts). Would rather take the class in person.
Keely uses this awful website for her class and its just far worse than Canvas. I really hated it. The class itself is fine, nothing good or really bad. The only thing I did not like was some of her grading is vague as are some of her instructions. This is not a bad Prof. class, just meh
So, the professor is not so bad. What is bad is the awful WAMAP website that the professor uses for her classroom. It is inconvenient and you have to learn an entirely new website. Why can't she just use Canvas like most professors? I have no clue. I love math very much, but her class format slips my mind with so much else going on.
I really do not like the wamap website because it's very outdated and super complicated to navigate. It makes no sense why she doesn't just use canvas like the other professors. I would never take her class again. Very tough grader and you definitely have to learn the material on your own. 0/10
Ive attended 3 of Professor Keelys online math classes. I think with the level of difficulty of the material, it would be really easy to blame the Prof. for any shortcomings in synthesizing it. But here that can simply not be the case, as Professor Keely is always on her game, ever present with an encouraging explanation & motivation to succeed
She provided a lot of online resources to learn content and was always available for help. She uses MyLab which includes an online textbook, a study plan with practice problems. Graded on one quiz every week with two chances, the study plan in MyLab and a final. Would recommend if you're fine with teaching yourself content and independent work.
Prof Keely is awesome. You have a study plan that you work on through the whole course, but you only need to complete 80% for full credit. You have weekly quizzes but you get two attempts and she drops the lowest 3. Overall there for you if you need help and genuinely wants everyone to succeed. Calc is a difficult course in general tho.
10/10. It is calculus so be ready to have hard problems. Some lessons took longer than others. You have homework each week but only need 80% of it done by end of quarter to get full points. Quizzes every week HW helps prepare for, but she drops your lowest 3. Always was great with questions. Really do take her!
I took an online course from Prof. Keely. She doesn't determine your grade; the online textbook program does. In her class, you will spend 99% of your time on Pearson solving problems, mastering concepts, and taking quizzes/exams. Otherwise, Prof. Keely never hesitates to answer questions, help you grasp a concept, and make grading info clear.
I have worked full time and gone to school full time and never in my life have I had a professor give so much work with so little teaching. This is a self teaching class. if you can take with another professor, do it. There is absolutely no guidance to the class. If this class was not mandatory for my major, I would have dropped in a heart beat.
Sally Keely is the least helpful professor I have ever had the displeasure to know. She does no work of her own, she simply regurgitates links from people more knowledgable than herself. She is unempathetic towards technology issues, and essentially passes it off as 'that sucks, good luck though'. Unless absolutely necessary, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS
This is a very teach yourself class. She mostly just assigns reading and then gives a bunch of links. Makes you do discussion posts that aren't helpful at all, they just make her feel better about loving math. If you put forth the effort you can definitely succeed, but it is an annoying class.
As others have stated, her online classes are very self paced with little in the way of lectures or micro management of any kind. Fair grading with a heavy weighting towards tests. Overall Sally was a really nice professor, and I've signed up to take my next math course with her as the professor again.
Lectures were only sentences long and described little of the topic. Prof did nothing; we read the online textbook and did assignments. To stay on track you had to read/do hw/take tests every day. Spent 5-6 hours per day and learned nothing; had to pay a tutor to teach me the material. There are better-structured courses and teachers elsewhere.
As the previous user stated, the teacher does nothing and you read a textbook and use a online website to do all the work. The textbook will explain a concept as simple as 2+2 in the most complicated, mathematical notation to the point where I just used a tutor and pauls online notes as the previous user did. Take this teacher as a last resort.
It was the worst instructor that I have ever seen. I have seen that some people said that they liked it, IDK maybe they took different classes. It was horrible. LOTS OF WORK. Caz of this class I would wake up at 8am and went to sleep around 11pm. I didn't go to the pool, parks, lakes with my family of this class. I wasn't able to celebrate my BD.
She did not teach anything whatsoever and had a website do her job for her.
It's only week 2 of classes and I really want to drop it. You pretty much have to teach yourself through the textbook. She has online "lectures" that's like a self-written, shorter textbook. I had to learn from YouTube and I'm gonna have to start seeing a tutor soon. If possible, please go with someone else. This is no way to learn calculus.
We all know calc 2 is a hard class, online is even harder. Prof Keely has a website where I am guessing she reuses for years and years. Theres only a few examples per chapter and 40 questions per homework. She doesnt really teach but has a q&a board where you can asked questions. This is a very self paced class. Lots of homework.
This was my first online math course, and I don't think anyone who struggles with math should take an online math course. I was weak in algebra, and it showed up multiple times in the course. I missed points for simple algebra stuff. Her website is helpful, but it takes a lot of clicking to find what you want. Tests are similar to homework.
Sally's summer online MATH&152 course is very hands-off. I think I've had one indirect interaction with her, but she offers many resources to help you out. Prepare for a LOT of homework. This week had 80-90 homework questions. It's busywork, and we have lives - Sally gets -2 rating and +3 difficulty for this reason alone.
This class is 100% online and very hands off. Prof. Keely has a Q/A discussion board which is the only way to interact with her outside of emails. Overall this class was pretty easy as long as you are self motivated and don't let your work pile up. The grading criteria is very forgiving and a lot of test questions are from the HW so do the HW.
Course set-up was extremely confusing, with no support for online students, and a lack of clear communication of guidelines.
Professor Keely's 090 class was difficult. There is lots of homework assignments and if you don't mange to complete your assignments on time it will greatly affect your grade. Be sure to give yourself enough time for this class. Does not accept any late work.
Get ready to be bombarded with an impossible amount of work day 1. Her syllabus is about 20 pages long. The course is an online math course. The amount of work is just insane. Expectations are so unclear. She seems not to care about her students. It's a college algebra course and I needed to put in over 40 hours a week. Avoid her!
Bombarded with an insane amount of information week 1, plus the actual work. Syllabus is 20 pages. The amount of work was astonishing. It's a college algebra course. Expect to put in a 40 hour work week in this class. Expectations being unclear doesn't help. You'll learn math, heck, you'll master it. But it will come at a steep cost. Avoid her!
If you have some other options for Trig take that other option. A lot of homework 60-90 questions easily or more. Says She understands how you may struggle (Doesn't) just another Tenured.
The material is not difficult, but the teacher puts in little effort and is often confusing with instructions. There is no recording or lecture, and everything is learned by reading the textbook. Oftentimes, while she responds to emails quickly, she is not helpful and does not provide any support.
If you stay on top of the work you'll be fine, but she won't send out reminders for you if you rely on those types of things. The final is a bit of your grade, but is open note. If you've done the HW, you'll recognize similar questions. Same with quizzes. Not too bad, but the HW is lengthy, so you have to start early in the week.
Prof. Keely's class is pretty hands-off, but if you're self-motivated, it can be manageable. The grading is forgiving, and using unstuck ai along with the textbook helped me stay on track. Not the easiest math class, but doable with the right approach.
I've never seen a professor flood you with so much instructions/unrelated information. Don't expect any support whatsoever, regardless of circumstances. My friend got dropped with no notification and wasn't let back (despite missing nearly nothing). Teacher values her (bad) process over your success. Avoid at all costs.
I took Calc 3 with her online in the summer, the workload is not heavy at all, the concepts are a little difficult sometimes but with the resources she provides, the course goes by smoothly. The final exam was very easy-going, short, and she was very merciful and not strict with the questions.
