She's way too picky grading her papers. Didn't like it. But it's your option. If you are a good writer, go ahead. If not, do not bother taking her. Take someone else.
I highly recommend her. I took her class for Comp I. She was terrific. She was very fair. Always available to you by email or before or after class, in her office. She loves teaching and it shows. I made an A. My only regret is not having taken her class for Comp II. Her class was cancelled.
She is extremely hard. Her grading system is very harsh with no in between grades. You either get an A or an F. I took this class on-line and wish I had someone else instead of her. I will never take another one of her classes.
She seemed nice at first but she is a harsh grader. Her essays have unclear topics and don't pose questions for you to answer but she deducts points for not answering her questions. She will also drop your grade on a paper an entire letter for minor mistakes.
She is terrible. She doesn't help you at all and she never explains her essays. She grades harshly and going to class is pointless but you get a deduction for absences. She doesn't even know how to spell simple words and has a hard time explaining her thoughts. I would not recommend her at all!!
This class was horrible! She grades way too harsh, and doesn't even know what she's talking about. At first she seemed nice, then I had a rude awakening. Dont take this class, unless you want an F.
I really enjoyed her class! Every class we start with a 5 minute free write over a prompt that was not graded for grammar, but for completion. Doing this can significantly help your grade! She is very clear on the directions for papers and what needs to be done to get an A. I am taking her 1102 class next semester!
Dr. Fitzgerald is the best teacher I have ever had. She makes you work, but only if you are willing to try. This class is easy to pass if you attend each day and pay close attention to what she says. She had no idea what she was doing. She would give an assignment and I would follow the intructions and she would fail my paper saying I didn't follow her instructions. ten students from my class had the same problem. I went to the dean about it but got no where.I will not pay to take her class

She's a tough teacher but if you do exactly what she says and use the examples in class to write your papers you will do fine, she lets you re-do if you get a C- or worse. Lots of papers and daily writing
Nice lady, BAD teacher. Drop her immediately. She's crazy obessive about everything, but she doesnt know anything aabout english. She needs to quit already. God help you if you decide to stay with her .
I could NOT stand this class. She did not know how to teach at all. She even told one of my classmates that she did not know how to explain the paper to her. I thought she was the teacher, but I guess not! I could not wait for that semester to end!
Hard to make an A in her class. Be there for every class so you can do your daily writing and all of your journal entries. When given an essay, follow her examples and instructions exactly. Even if you are majoring in English and think you are an excellent writer, DO NOT deviate from her examples.

Professor Fitzgerald is a great professor! She does really well at teaching the subject, but she can be unclear when it comes to some of the assignments. She is a tough essay grader, so if you are not good at writing them, I wouldn't take her. She makes the class interesting by showing some films and starting class discussions.
Good Christian teacher. You have to understand and comply with what she wants. If you're a good writer, the class shouldn't be too hard.
I hated this class. Normally, English is my favorite subject, but this teacher ruined it for me. Out of the 27 students in the class, only 4 passed. Avoid at all costs.
Fitzgerald is a veeery sweet lady but I advise you to suck up to her because it will help your grade!! :) if she does not like you you will be able to see it in your grade!! If you are able to write a decent paper you will do fine!!
I like her a lot, the assignments are only as difficult as you make them. If you follow her instructions then you can easily get an A in the class.
I would not recommend this teacher. I took her online. I made an A in comp 1 and she never gave me higher than a 0 on 4 out of 4 papers even after rewriting them with her changes. She expects you to be a mind reader also. Not a single person in my class had a positive thing to say about her. She accused everyone of plagiarism on their last paper.
She gives ZERO to students easily!
she gave over half the class D's and F's on our research papers. she even gave one girl a 0 for supposedly "plaigarizing."
The class wasn't that hard, just hard to understand what she wanted you to write about exactly. Go and talk to her about what she wants if you want an A. Work hard on research paper(20% of grade). Attend class on time and write the writing assignment, you get an A for trying. And also essays (60% of grade). Grammer and Written final (10% each).
I will tell you this. She is hardcore. If you're new to college, be prepared. Her standards for essays are not high school quality. She expects college standard essays. That's why many people think she's hard, but as long as you attend class you will be fine. Tip. Go to her for help and be nice. She will gladly help you out.
She's easy on passing out a lot of F's. Even when you think you have a good paper, one mistake gives you a complete F. Don't recommend her.
Most students who have taken her talk about their terrible paper grades, but I'll bet that's because of issues concerning the works cited page, which she, admittedly, heavily considers when grading. Get that right, and you have a chance at a good grade. For the rest, just attend class, take notes if necessary, and pay attention!
Do not take this Prof. She is very hard and grades unfairly and very subjectivly!!!!
If you intend to continue with your education, Professor Fitzgerald will give you the tools that you need to do so. If you want to do as little as you can to slide by, this is not the professor for you.
She likes quality students who are willing to work hard and show college-level writing skills. Very knowledgeable, experienced, approachable. She's more than willing to help during office hours. Your grade will be a reflection of how much work you put into her class, that's all. I'm glad I took her. I feel more confident about my writing now.
She is sweet and soft spoken, but her over all teaching method is poor. She doesn't tell you how she came up with your score. A single misplaced comma can drop you an entire letter grade. When she says no plagiarism, she means don't use a single word from that text without quotation marks and citations. if you can handle it then Im proud of you.
This professor is horrible, hands down. Very little explanation as to why you receive certain grades. No credit for any sort of effort shown, you'll just get an F. She is not very clear in what she expects from the assignments. I took this as an online class over the summer. She has office hours during the day, hard to get to when you work.
her class only relys on essays, she grades VERY strict and if its not good enough she gives flat F's. she is very sweet and is in the library for writing tutoring three times a week but its decently hard to get a good grade in her class. you have NO TESTS except midterms but they are very easy.
Very nice Prof. that is strict and wants what she wants and if you fail to produce, you will get an F. She is avail. for help, and TAKE IT!! She does show compassion to those that try, and none towards those that want an easy A. She is a college Prof., and this is a college class. You must WORK HARD for your grade in this class.

Must work very hard to recieve a decent grade. She will help you if you need it, which i recommend you take advantage of. Overall not the class for you if you want an easy A.
She was a horrible professor. She didn't grade fairly and didn't clarify what she was looking for when you asked her questions. I took Eng 1, Creative Writing, and Journalism. I received and A in all of them, then I meet her and fail. She degrades your writing, and doesn't give helpful tips.
Tells you what she wants on her papers, but when you turn it in there is no scale on her grading if she puts even 2 comments on your paper your getting a D or an F. Horrible grading and horrible teaching methods.
She makes you work hard for the grade, if your good at writing you'll pass the class.
Poor instruction, never goes over the text you read prior to class, you are expected to "know" it without any instruction. IE, an education I could get at a public library for $5 in late fees. Grades harshly without much of a grading rubric for papers.
She constantly is negative on grading papers! She does not help or tell you how you can do better, she just complains all the time! I tried being nice, and she is just miserable! I worked so hard in that class, and nothing seemed to please her! If you can take another professor...do it! She is too hard to please and is set up to fail!
She's a VERY HARD professor, she doesn't care if you have a family or job. Class is very hard with essay's that she does explain what she wants but if you have no writing experience you won't do to good in her class. You really have to work hard to get a decent grade, essays start easy and get really hard. I started with B's and ended with F's ..

This teacher was not kind, not forgiving of anything especially grammatical errors. Her teaching most of the time was unclear. God forbid you miss an assignment because of an emergency "oh well!" She shows no mercy and gives no grace to anyone. She forgot to update when final was to be taken and four people missed the deadline, she gave them zeros
Very challenging class, this is not an easy A. If you work hard and do what you are supposed to do you will not only pass but with a good grade too. I was very worried before taking her class because I am not a good writer, but I improved on every assignment and earned an A. It’s one of the few classes where you will actually learn something.

Professor Fitzgerald is a very good professor. If you are interested in furthering you education and learning, she is awesome! But, she is a tough and particular professor, but she does care about her students and wants you to succeed. Do not think you can skip class or shirk assignments. If you want an easy A and not learn much, take someone else.
I took Professor Fitzgerald for Comp 2. She's a sweet person and a great professor. She's always willing to help you with your paper, and her office hours are always open for you to stop by and have her look over your work. She's not an easy A, but I would definitely recommend taking her class.
Dr. Fitzgerald is very sweet. She is very intelligent. She is very interested in her students to succeed. She is very helpful. She will whatever she can to help. She is patient. She cares. She wants you to follow her directions! Listen to the clues she's giving for the tests. She has heart and tough at same time. Know your stuff. Fun & serious.
Professor Fitzgerald is good professor, not to hard and not to easy. She has very little assignments and she rarely gives homework. She is very into her essays and research paper. Make sure your know how to Cite in MLA. She also has research journals that she collects every once in a while, be on top of those. Over all a good class.
Very serious grader on papers, switches between APA and MLA so be carefuk. Very interested in the student and always there to help. Very sweet and always honest. Daily writing assignments that have a major impact on grades so show up.
tough class, she grades very hard, she is very picky with her assignments, you write a lot, she does not explain very well sometimes, good thing is she really takes the time to read all the papers you turn in and gives you real feedback on it, she might give you a second chance to write a paper if you did bad, get ready for essays!

She gives you a chance to write a rough draft the class before a paper is actually due, and peer edit each others papers. If you don't do the rough draft you can't revise your paper after she grades it so DO THE ROUGH DRAFT! She is an extremely tough grader! Make sure you know what she's looking for with each paper and you might make it out w/ a B.
Difficult grader, feedback is mostly hard to interpret on all assignments. Grammar final is given, but no lecture covered anything grammar nor spelling related, just sentence structure on papers. Short daily writing assignments everyday. Group projects are assigned, but can work solo on it.
VERY tough grader. Usually 3-4 papers including research paper to do within the semester. Sometimes not clear on what she wants from a paper, so make sure to ask a lot of questions! There is daily writing . Gives good feedback on papers and will allow chance on redoing if received a bad grade. There are two projects pick group wisely.
If you do your work you will pass but I would not say it is easy
Good professor, great experience. I would say she is extremely helpful. She posts an abundance of examples of student essays, so really there should be no excuse for doing poorly on a paper as the whole thing is laid out right before your eyes. Sometimes clarification is needed with her though.
Dont take her if you want a easy A super hard grader like really hard Ive never gotten higher than a B on her papers, quick to give out 0 F must go to class to do bellwok which is a easy grade lots of essays due. Im in this class now I warn you not to talk it
If you want a professor that challenges you as a writer and provides good critiques then I highly recommend her. Otherwise, do not take her if you want an easy A since she's an EXTREMELY hard grader. Be prepared to write very in-depth, thought provoking papers with her if you want a descent grade!
Extremely tough and unforgiving grading. Condescending as well. Take the low class count as a warning to not take this class.
One of the worst professors I've had. Very disorganized and vague. Made me feel as if I'd wasted my time on the assignments I worked my hardest on. Very condescending attitude and provides no usable feedback. With all the visual projects we did, we basically taught ourselves.
Her feedback was fair and honest. I learned a lot about how to better my papers through her than any other professor Ive met. There are a lot of papers though, and it can get overwhelming without getting ahead of them. She also has a strict automatic zero late policy. Despite that, shes really nice and caring about everyones opinions in class
I took her online class, and it was very good! She gives lots of reading homework, so be prepared to read. St the end of the day like any class, you get what you put in. Do not take her if you are lazy. Take her if you are willing to work in the class and participate.
One of the most disorganized professors I have ever met. I was not expecting an easy A when signing up for this class, but she is probably one of the hardest graders ever. She does not clearly state instructions for assignments. She does allow you to resubmit assignments but doesn't give good feedback. She also doesn't use Word.
This is the worst professor I have had by far. Everyone in my class was constantly confused as to what the assignments were and the details of them as well as how to turn them in. She is the toughest grader I've ever come across, giving me a zero for one minor issue. I truly feel that she wants her students to fail, I DO NOT recommend her AT ALL.

Honestly I have only had her for a week and I'm already regretting it. I'm in her hybrid class. Any time you ask her a question she words it like your dumb and not capable of unerstanding. She does email back quickly, but that doesnt make up for the lack of information that you actually recive in those emails.
Worst professor at Polk State. Do not take her unless you want to fail. Toughest grader ever and easily accuses the entire class of plagiarism. Do yourself a favor and choose another English professor.

I can easily say she is the most disorganized professor I have ever met. You can do all the work she wants and follow all her criteria, but still get a zero on an assignment. She does gives no clear guidelines for her assignments. Very unprofessional and takes her precious time responding to emails. I ended up reporting her to dean of Polk State.

This professor doesnt make the assignments clear for students to understand. In addition, any little mistake can result in a failing grade.
This was my second semester with Professor Fitzgerald. I took her for ENC1 and ENC2 and finished with an A+ both times. She gives a lot of papers but you will be fine if you do what the directions say! She responds back very quickly. The class is based off of essays but she does give second opportunities for ALL assignments!
This professor is absolutely horrible. I took three assignments and had a 9%. even students that loved English that I knew were A+ in every other English class had an F. I suggest that if you get her drop immediately and take another class/ professor.
Dr. Fitzgerald is one of few professors that actually wants you to learn. If you want to get an A in her classes, three things are a must: follow the directions, ask questions, and actually put in the work. If you need clarification on the directions, do not be afraid to ask! Dr. Fitzgerald is more than happy to give guidance to help you improve.
Always ask questions! You have to put in the work, but you will gain great writing skills. Most of the bad reviews are from people who were not willing to put in the necessary work and expected to get an A by just doing the assignments (notice most of them dropped out early). Ive taken 2 of Dr. Fitzgeralds classes and finished both with an A+.
This was the worse experience I have ever had within my college career. She would not answer any questions and would likely respond to your question by saying "I already said the answer to your question earlier" rather than giving any clarification. She was a very harsh grader and would not give any constructive criticism so you could learn.
Terrible. She took half points off my assignment because I had added MORE information than she asked for. I was also having trouble finding the Canvas resources for a project so I emailed her TWICE asking if she could send me the link but she just told me to keep looking in the modules. I withdrew and took it with a different professor, got an A.

I had to switch out of her class. English is my best subject but she made me feel so stupid and would belittle me. I asked for help and she just responded with Too Bad. I emailed her asking for help and she refuses to give it. I would not take her class again.
The class was very unorganized, I had to write a full paper in an hour because I had not idea were to find the online resources. The class was very confusing, I didn't know what to even read in the text book. We only had one assignment that even used it. Only thing I got a good grade was on discussions.

She hates her job and takes it out on the students. I am very good at writing, but because she is not organized and doesnt specify what she wants, she gives me horrible grades because I didnt magically read her mind.

Dr. Fitzgerald's course is disorganized. There is little to no clarity when it comes to assignments. Her modules are not organized by week, so you will have to go on a scavenger hunt to find rubrics and documents needed for each week. The first assignment was a short story analysis. The mean score was 38.33/100. The highest score was 65/100.
