EXCELLENT..................This Professor not only likes his job more importantly he loves to teach. The mere fact that he is so excited about certain parts of history makes it seem that like he is telling a story that u must know the answer to. ONE OF THE GREAT ONES LEFT AT QC
Really cool professor!! Hist tests are really straight forward and he explains everything in class. Just take good notes and you'll be fine. He's really funny and really knowledgeable!!!
Porf. Miceli is not only very knowledgeable and clear he is also so adorable. his classes are very entertaining. he's great!
Quite possibly, and in all seriousness, the best professor at QC. His classes do not feel like classes or work -- more like mind-candy. Able to present history as a fasciating tale even if you don't like history, and philosophy in terms all can understand and relate to (and profit from). Amazing.
He was great. I have taken this class for the second time becuase the first prof sucked so bad. This guy was clear with his lectures and made this subject interesting. His tests are verbatum from his lectures. So take good notes. He only gives a midterm and a final. Which both consist of about 6 essays each. So study. He gave me a B.Generous grader
Thoroughly enjoyed these 2 semesters, a truly wonderful prof. Always found his lectures to be interesting and informative.Alot of papers but I have left this class with a new outlook.AAAAAA+
sweet guy midterm final very easy class bec. most of it is hs math good grader.
These were two wonderful and informative courses. He is a great professor and listening to him speak for 3 hours was a pleasure. Alot of writing but a very fair grader. You will leave this class with a new outlook. Thank you prof.
great prof, talks a lot but exams are fair and grading is fair
The class is interesting, but he doesn't interact with the class much. You go to class to hear him speak for an hour and a half. The time goes by sooo slow. His tests are easy considering he gives you the questions to take home, but he's a hard grader. You have to guess what he wants you to write about...
not such a bad class, easy teacher. so cute too... just wanna pinch his cheeks!
Prof Miceli is really nice and approachable. The class is boring and u can get lost because it's really just him discussing topics. He gives you the tests beforehand though and he's somewhat of a hard grader.
seems warm at first impression but turns out to be mostly detached from the class. if you need to take logic and are shying away from it- do take him as he is more lax than the others and will not look to trick you and may even dilute the material (especially in summer session). if you figure out his accent though, let me know.
great professor .. not out to get the students ... thorough but work had to be done on student's part as well .. midterm and final
I took logic in the summer and did not fully get to finish the reading all the chapters. I am sure I only got a B+ because of how good the professor was at explaining the material. I had him before of Social Science and I think he is a great professor. As long as you take notes when he speaks it always ends back up on your test. Great Professor!
ok professor, have to take good notes! doesnt have time out of class, very unattached from students - 2 papers determine ur grade so make sure you do well on those
GREAT PROFESSOR,YOU WILL LEAVE HIS CLASSES WITH A NEW OUTLOOK ON LIFE!!TAKE GOOD NOTES AND READ THE MATERIALS AND YOU WILL DO WELL.
Miceli is an excellent professor. Pay attention to his lectures-as he goes into great detail about the material. Take good notes, study, and you will do well in his course. Professor Miceli also seems interested in students' progress.
MICELI is a good professor. If you enjoy sitting in a class for 2 days a week and just listening and listening, you'll do fine. You DON'T need the 80 dollar textbook! Any info you need for the 2 midterms and final can be found in notes during class and online. Very fair grader and overall nice guy. Attendance doesn't count, only 2 midterms & final.
1. If and Only if you study and pay attention to his log class, you will get A+ if you also like his speech! 2. He bores you only if you bored him. 3. He is great teacher and this logic class is good!
The guy was so cool. I literally struggled with logic. It appeared that everyone in class was understanding him, except me. He took out his personal time to try and assist me. Even though I know I did horribly on the mid-term and final exam, he still gratuitously passed me. I guess it was for the effort he saw I was attempting to put forward.
He's such a nice man. You don't need the textbook at all - everything you need to know comes out of his mouth. Take amazingly detailed notes & pay attention when he speaks. roughly 2 papers, 1 test & he gives you the questions beforehand. Really nice guy.
His class is boring and confusing. He assigned us only two papers, although the class was supposed to be writing intensive. I got a good grade, and for that I would recommend his class, unless you are actually interested in learning philosophy well.
He is very nice and happy comes to class smiling some days the class went fast, others dragged but overall its an okay class,he gives the final questions before hand 5 essay questions which are a little long but hey you cant complain thats all he gives through-out the semester and a final paper, which you can choose a book and write ur own opinion
He is a good prof but he really doesn't mesh well with students who simply don't grasp the concepts ASAP. i don't feel confortable in questionin anything in the class. Furthermore; he is bias towards the egg heads who gets the concepts of logic right away and the rest of us idiots will just have to accept that we don't.
I took Miceli during Summer Session; 3hours Friday night and alllll day saturday! for 4 weeks. Tough to sit through but he was superb. Very interesting, informative and knowledgable. Essays were straight up, right out of notes I didnt even buy the books just wrote alot. good grader I got an A in the course.
An abosoltely superb professor. He is definately my favorite to date. His class discussions are very entertaining, and his papers (and the final) are straightforward from the notes. If you have an opportunity to take him you should do so.
sweet guy, very knowledgeable, just not my kind of teaching style. There is only the midterm, final, and one paper. This class is more like a history of philosophers rather than intro to ethics, so beware it might (most likely will) get quite boring. you can get by quite nicely without the textbook. just borrow from someone when you need it.
He's a very nice teacher and has some very interesting stories. You really do not need to use the textbook to get through his class (still got an A); just listen to him and take some notes. His grades consisted of 4 papers and a final, all of which were really easy. I would definitely recommend him! He reminds me of a teddy bear. (-:
Cute professor and interesting topic= great course. He's pretty clear and he's pretty chilled about the papers- allowed rewrites for the first one. You don't need the book- take notes- its much clearer that way anyway. Unless of course you want to read the philosophers' original texts. He doesn't like people coming late to class too often.
The class is pretty boring. It's just a lecture with no discussion or analysis. Don't take it if you can.
He is so helpful. He presents his material clearly, i retook this class to get a better grade because my previous professor was just confusing, he was easy to understand and helpful. 1 paper and final
EXTREMELY fair. material is presented clearly and the presentations were fair and simple. Interesting material. you get a good understanding of the original philosophy behind many of our policies.
Professor Miceli is fantastic. He is clear in his lectures, and enjoys what he teaches. Prior to his class, I had no intention of being a Philosophy major-- which I now am. He opened my mind up to a whole different realm of learning.
I enjoyed the class room discussion with this teacher. He is very good with the class room discussion and a fair grader. I am going to take another one of his classes.
If you are not a Philosophy person, 116 is the right class to take with Miceli. He uses the book (which is horrible) and makes it so you understand whats going on! There's only Mid-term paper and a final exam (5 essay questions) and the Midterm is due, the day of the final! Definitely take him, it will definitely be worth it!
Class attendance is mandatory, in my opinion, because the ideas are difficult to grasp if you do not have prior exposure to philosophy. He lectures the whole period, so take extensive notes. Very limited discussion, however, he will clarify confusing concepts. Allows you to meet outside of class to review a paper before handing it in.
easy but sooooo boring
Professor Micelli is very versed in philosophy. He's a well rounded individual who has a lot to offer. I enjoyed his class very much.
I love miceli. He is a cool guy who can be funny. You should go to class everyday because a lot of the concepts are hard to understand if he doesn't explain them. His lectures are perfect and interesting. My favorite professor this semester by far.
My favorite little Buddah! AMAZING professor!!!! Take anything he teaches cause it will be fun and interesting. Pay attention so he doesn't have to keep going over things and you will learn more. He is clear and always smiling. Enjoy the class, easy A because he makes you smarter!
Very Good Professor!! He does not give any homework and there's only two papers and the final! Take Him!!
Easily one of my favorite professors! You don't really even need the textbook because he tells you all you need to know during the lecture which you'll be lost if you miss. Take good notes! Insightful, obviously loves teaching. Easy/fair grader. I also enjoy his funny/interesting anecdotes.
This professor is such an inspiration. I liked Philosophy so I took his class and every class I felt like I was on a trip listening to these fascinating lectures and ideas he gives. Amazing class, excellent professor, take him! Thank you professor!
Great professor. Giving excellent lectures. He will mark up your grade if you attend all your classes. Heavily work than what you expect. But, he has really enhance me to a differnt level of viewing life and adjust my study skill. Thank you professor. I really enjoy your classes.
Great professor. Provided a lively lecture. Give u a different angle in life. Thank you professor. Really enjoy your class.
intriguing class. the professor is a genius and seems to know everything about everything. all you have to do is come in and listen and take notes. his lectures easy to understand and very interesting. everyone loves him. take a class with him, there will be no regrets.
Nice guy. Gives alot of "reading assighnments" which you will never really have to read. Everything you need to know, he will discuss in class. Gives you your exam essay topics a week in advance. Pretty hard grader though. I'd still reccomend him though!
Great professor. Crystal clear. It's hard from the beginning. But he drops the lowest paper in mc and curves our grades. As long as you come into class and hand out the homework. Easy B+.
This is a second semester. It's a lot of hard work. Not an easy class compare to other class. Really learn many theories of different philosophers. He teaches honor class and wish we could do as well as them. Despite the fact of all difficulties arise from within, highly recommend him. All you learn will be very useful for other future classes
I was not looking forward to taking a Philosophy class, but he changed that. He made every topic interesting, not to mention that he is incredibly smart and knows almost everything about Philosophy. Just listen to him and take notes. I'd definitely recommend him, can't go wrong.
you NEVER have to show up except for the class before the midterm and before the final so he can give you the exact essay questions that will appear on the exam. write your essays before the exam and take them with you to copy into your blue book. he doesnt look for cheaters or lazy people, he just wants to teach the class. hes awesome and easy
Takes attendance but according to the syllabus he doesn't use it against you. Pretty boring and confusing class not going to lie. At first it seems cool then it gets even more boring and complicated. there has to be an easier professor for philosophy 101. If I had a choice looking back I would not have taken him if I knew how bad his class was.
His lectures are unclear, lacking direction. Attendance & note taking are mandatory if you want a decent grade. I went to every class, participated and still got a lousy B+. If you need to take a social science, consider sociology… more interesting & you`ll remember some of it. This class was a waste of time, subject is abstract to say the least.
Prof. Micelli is my favorite philosophy professor. He is kind and clears up everything for you, making complex ideas understandable. He adapts to the level of the students. I have taken him twice and in one class he was able to go deeper into philosophy because the students were prepared and participated. He is an easy grader. Just do the readings.
Takes attendance but class isn't really mandatory, just make sure you get the notes. Grade is based off of two 5-6 page papers and a final in-class essay which he gives you the questions for beforehand. Unsure what his deal is regarding grades. One of the only kids who participated and got an A on both papers but an A- in the class. Nice guy though
Showed up to maybe 14 of the classes in the semester still received an A. 2 short papers which you can find the answers to online. Final seemed difficult but I'm not sure that it factored into the grade. Very funny for the classes I showed up to. Don't waste your money on the textbook it just isn't necessary like attendance.
I barely showed up to his class and was able to pass. He was very into what he taught, however unless you love philosophy, it is not very interesting. He only gave 2 papers and a final. For the final, he gave us the questions before and let us bring an index card with any information we wanted. All in all it was an easy class.
He is a wonderful man and a professor who actually knows what he is teaching. However, the lectures are really boring and as soon as you want to pay attention, you'll probably get bored. You won't be assigned many papers and his grading is fair as long as you know the information.
Miceli gave clear explanations of every philosopher's point of view and criticisms against them. The grade for the class is based upon the midterm and final only and you're allowed to bring one 3 x 5 index card to help you. He's a fair professor.
Miceli is patient and consistent. He knows his subjects and covers them thoroughly w/ punctuality and an easy demeanor. Lectures cover & augment the readings. Good class discussions often ensued as a consequent. If you make a decent effort, you'll walk away with a good grasp of modern philosophy & its development. QC is lucky to have Miceli.
A fantastic professor who shows an in depth knowledge of what he teaches. Very soft with words, and open minded to many ideas. A true doctor of Philosophy. Make sure and take his class, it'll be one to cash in a stress-less credit.. and a really really good Philosophy class of information straight from the text.
This is a relatively easy class. The grades are based on two papers and a final. Make sure to be specific and answer the question on the papers and it should be fine. The class wasn't so interesting so it was really difficult to pay attention.
This class is easy to do well in if your down to take notes and pay attention. However, this class is not so interesting so it is easy to fall prey to not doing either of those things. Therefore, only take this class if you can overcome your urge to space out and do other things.
Professor Miceli is very good at teaching Philosophy. He fully explains all the philosophers and their ideas. He will hint when things will be asked about in the two essays and final. If he writes something on the board- 90% chance it will be tested. He answers any questions and has no problem going over material twice if needed. Amazing professor!
This professor is one of the kindest I have ever had! His lectures are a little confusing, but he is brilliant and patient. Most students did not pay attention in class but did well. The lectures would be pretty boring, given that he did most of the talking- but that makes sense since it was an intro course. I would recommend this class.
Teaches at a slow pace. Explains each philosopher in detail. Take notes and spit information back on essays and tests to do well. Readings arent necessary if you take notes in class. Good for learning classic philosophers.
He goes on a rant during his lectures. I recommend a laptop for anyone taking his class, bc in the end, hands starts cramping. Just make sure to take really good notes and you'll do fine. He has two take home essays for the midterm and one as part of the final. The final has 5 in-class essays, which aren't bad bc he allows one index card.
This class is kinda hard. The readings themselves are really hard to understand, so be sure to print out summaries of the readings. Only then youll actually understand. Also, he only speaks the whole time, so you must bring a laptop to take notes.
The readings are themselves hard to understand, so you must print a simple summary to read before going to the actual stuff. Only then you'll actually understand what the author is talking about. Talks for the whole time in class, and sometimes his voice is too soft that many people can't hear them clearly.
The readings are very hard to understand, so you need to find summaries online in order to actually understand the material. You have two hard papers for this class. And now that we're doing distance learning, he makes you write a series of lecture responses, which together will count as the final exam.
He is truly a great professor because even if you are finding a hard time with the readings, he will explain it. You wont wanna miss class tho, everything he wants in both the midterm and final is what he says in class. Theres only two papers and one book you will need. So go to class and stay up, its the only way to pass (which is easy)
Prof Miceli is a really kind man. His lectures can be confusing at times but if you do a little research on your own youll be fine. Despite taking attendance everyday he told me he just does it to learn everyone's names and it isnt mandatory. He gives you the outlines for all of his tests including the final and lets you have an index card of info
Professor Miceli is such a caring professor! He cares for each and every student. He gives 3 different papers throughout the semester but gives more than enough time to finish them. He extended the deadlines for us multiple times, aware of the workload from other classes. His lectures can be a little boring, but stick with it and you'll succeed!
Excruciatingly boring. Such a sweet man and interesting material but it's difficult to pay attention if you arent involving yourself constantly. Only graded by a couple of papers which i think he graded generously, so getting an A isnt too difficult. He will answer your questions in class which is nice.
Professor Miceli is a nice professor who is willing to explain a topic again if you ask. There were no office hours and questions could be asked only during class which was inconvenient. The material itself is challenging to read, which makes it even more important to do the reading as well as attend lectures for clarification.
Miceli is nice, but his class is a bore. He just lectures the entire time. You're able to do well on his papers even if you don't pay attention because you can google most things. As long as you include what he says to he grades pretty fairly.
Amazing and caring professor. Intelligent and knows what he is talking about. You won't regret taking his class. Material is very interesting.
I didnt mind him. He was very understanding and lenient. I took him when we just went online. My only qualm was that no matter what I did, he kept giving A-s. It was like that was his go to grade regardless of how you performed. Messed up my GPA but it's whatever. He's a sweet person regardless
Very boring class but Miceli is wildly intelligent and passionate about it. He's just monotone and hard to hear so sit up close if you want to try and follow his thought process. Never made a student feel bad for asking questions, sweetheart. Textbook not really necessary but good to have. Easy enough, 2 5-page papers and 1 final paper in class.
Disorganized format4hybrid class& unclear in-person exam format. He is very rude towards his students when they don't understand something. He's soft spoken so it's hard to hear him in person. Okay grader, but if you want to learn something I wouldn't take his class. Must rely on outside sources 2understand material. Very critical towards writing.
Awesome professor. Will argue with you but he's nice about it. Great as a teacher as well. Two writing assignments totalling 3 essays: do NOT leave them for the last minute! They're not that hard and he's a lenient grader, but they take time. Then there's a final but he gives you the Qs ahead of time and allows a cheat sheet
Interesting course taught by a kind, caring professor. He usually teaches Honors sections and is reputed to be very good in them. This class was a summer offering with students enrolled who did not seem to be very interested, often did not show up for class, and did not participate when they did attend. Just straight lectures by instructor...
Professor Miceli was a fantastic professor. He is very kind adn understanding. For our final he allowed us to bring a cheat sheet. He tells fascinating stories about philosophers. I really enjoyed this class. he has max 3 writing assignments. You should definitely take notes.
Professor Miceli is a sweet and smart individual. It was a pleasure to take his class--I learned a lot. Workload: not much, but time-consuming.
Miceli is a sweet man and very fair grader. Only graded on two essays (which don't need a works cited page) and a final, which he gives you the questions for in advance. His voice is a little boring, so it's easy to get distracted. If you put in the work when occasionally needed, you're good to go.
The reading is already hard, that's philosophy therefore, the professor explains it to the class. This guy does not explain anything. It literally sounds like complete nonsense & everyone is wrong in his eyes because he's stubborn. Not a good philosophy professor. You're not any smarter or better if you don't know how to teach a class.
he's him. confirmed. he is such a sweety. gives deep insights on modern day stuff and thingz
He is a very nice man and has a wealth of knowledge on various thinkers. However, I dropped the course mid-semester because I could not deal with the long lectures and lack of class structure. To add, his lectures are all over the place, making it hard to keep up with them. Do not miss class and take notes. He is very approachable.
Very kind professor who gives good lectures.
HE IS LEGIT THE BEST. So chill, kind, and caring. you actually dont really need textbook unless for first paper. 2 papers, and final is 5 essay its little stressful but he gives you cheat sheet to write notes. BEST, HE GAVE ALL A's love u xoxo
class grade is entirely determined by 2 essays (one has a rewrite opportunity) and an entirely open-note final exam. lectures may be a little confusing (he is soft-spoken) but materials are a lifesaver. very easy A, I was just lazy
Loved his class. I found it really interesting because I love philosophy. He's super nice but his lectures tend to drag on, and he has a soft voice so it's easy to zone out. Required textbook but I didn't buy one and found all the content online. Easy grader. Would recommend because he's great for the GPA.
Professor Miceli is a very sweet and intelligent man. I enjoyed learning from him in every class I took with him. You could tell that he loves to teach and that he loves the subject matter. He has so many great and interesting anecdotes to share
This professor was really sweet however he just lectures the entire time and only gives 2 papers then a final and that's it. Expects you to read about a philosopher after every class which was understandable however he expects you to find the textbook on our own. Also didn't have really a syllabus.
He is a kind old man and his lectures are like stories. Sometimes it may be boring but his essays are fun to write and he is very forgiving in grading. A shame he has retired. He has my regards.
