Easy grader but not really feeling his vibes.

only take this class if you plan on teaching yourself, being very confused all the time when tests are, and never learning anything during class periods. he takes attendence every single day until the day before finals! he's a guy version of a ditzy dumb
Funny guy but kind of forgetful. His class is not hard but you have to study hard cause the tests are somewhat hard.

His grading system is a complete joke. He is funny and class is fun but the tests make you wonder if your in the right class. First test is straight from online study guide. There are plenty of his tests floating around campus, the questions are same.
Farahani does accomplish something harder than his difficult tests: He makes American politics an interesting subject thanks to his humor and perspective (he's from the Middle East). I like him a lot.
the class is fun to learn
If you are looking for a class that will change the way you view things this is the one to take. Class is composed 70% of talking about current events. Must read the book, but gives study guilds with all the test questions. Very interesting and nice guy.

this class is easy as hell. funny guy but annoyingly liberal. watch a lot of news, and don't take many notes. get the study guide and go to class when the tests are handed back. can argue answers and get credit for missed answers. easy paper, easy A.
Really nice and funny guy! Half of the questions on the exams are from lecture notes, and the other half is really hard,but,well,I think he's too nice so the entire class was basically cheating :D there're extra credit opportunities which help a lot too!
Sam is very interesting. make sure you listen in class and do the quizzes online. They will help you out. And if you get one of the test floating aroun, believe me they are not the exams he is giving. He knows about the exams floating around. You will him
I did not like this guy.He is very biased.Although his tests are easy, he screwed up the answer key for the scantrons everytime.The class is big time boring and a waste of time.
Great personality, BAD planner. He always moved the tests. He never completely covered his material, thus killing the grades.
He is a very interesting guy, I liked him a lot. I learned from this professor, which I can't say about all of them. Tests weren't the easiest, but if you study an A is within reach.
It isn't hard to get a C or B because of extra credit, but he's disorganized & the questions on his tests tend to be ambiguous. Spends too much time talking about his personal views...
very quirky, but likeable; don't expect all the tests to be easy - do the online quizzes: he always uses those q's on exams! Do that, and you'll get a good grade. he's very liberal, but this is college - what do you expect?

This teacher is the best! So interesting, and EASY!! You have to be there when you get your tests back, because you can argue your answers, and he will give you the points!! VERY helpful during office hours. Cares about his students and Politics.
this prof is sloppy with his grading and planning. the class is so easy and unchallenging. if you plan on transferring to a good college and want to do well in life then this class is not the best preparation becuase i walked out of there dumber.
He really knows his stuff...but is very unorganized. Pushed all the tests back over and over again so you can't really prepare well. He is unclear about the assignments and spends too much time letting students debate.
one of the best teachers i've taken. challanges the political/social status quo and pisses people off in doing so but if your looking for a real professor who brings the real issue out, challanges your views, and makes learning fun+interesting, take him!
The best teacher I have had at Mesa. His lectures stay on topic and his insights are comprehensive. If you want to understand what is happening in our political systems take Dr. Farhani. His strong point is really working hard for his students.

very unorganized... he postponed the first and second test 3 to 4 times (seriously) but made the class take test 4 and the final with a research paper in the last 2 weeks of school. you can argue your test grade and will give the class the point

he is by far the worst teacher i've had. He is unorganized and there are NO reviews for the tests. Further, his tests are somewhat irrevelant to what you'd expect and studied for. He yaps and goes off in a tangent often.
This prof is a great guy ,I personaly really like him.If u really want to know real politics ,he's the one u should take , sloopy or unorganized is not point ,the point is he's gonna pass u and help u out ,maybe change ur mind about ur major. GREAT

Very unorganized. We even needed 2 meetings to discuss the syllabus. lol. The tests are sometimes hard. He always postpones the tests. Even he delayed the grade report.
Great!Interesting & stimlating speaker,effective in clearly explaining and illustrating political concepts.Very accurate in citing sources, brings attention to issues that are too often overlooked,balanced,fair,highly educated & has a wealth of knowledge!
More interested in preaching his politics than teaching. His politics are so radical that it is hard to watch so many college-no-nothings absorb it. AntiAmerica, antiIsrael, antiWest....if you have thick skin or don't care it will be an easy A.

best teacher i have taken for poli sci yet. very knowledgable, and helpful. he may hit a nerve if you are closed minded and biased about your political beliefs. his lectures are thorough and reflects the materials on the tests. great teacher! take him!
This class should have been an easy A. It wasn't for me -- important lesson. Do not write an essay that directly opposes your teacher's political beliefs. Promised extra credit and didn't deliver. If you read the material, easy A.
By far the worst teacher I have ever had. Very unclear about what is expected. Was on border between A and B... Did extra credit and he never e-mailed me back. Avoid him if possible.
A very smart guy, and he's certainly opinionated. Don't go if you have a strong political view already. He goes off on a tangent to his own little world every class, but do the study guides. The tastes are almost all study guide questions. Easy B

Nice but spacey guy, VERY VERY unclear and scatterbrained. I seriously didn't learn ANYTHING in this class and still have no idea what his grade scale is based on. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. Boring and pointless.
Dont take him if you still believe in the tooth fairy and santa clause cuz your world will come crashing down. hes intelligent and knows his stuff. i persoanlly thought hes the best teacher for this subject because he challanges your views and makes you think. his grading is fair and he helps u out.

There is something seriously wrong with this man. If you want to take an easy class where you do virtually nothing, take his, but be ready for a constant barrage of insulting "progressive" rhetoric. Dr. F is proof that any moron can get a doctorate.
by far the worst teacher that i have ever had including kindergarden through now. the only reason that i got a "C" was because this moron speaks jibberish and i can't understand a word. he was 14 minutes late every day (if he showed up). if you can't understand broken english do not take this class.
Its true hes really easy. But its a tradeoff b/c you wont learn a single thing and have to listen to his tirades. They should call this class "Farahani's Opinion 101." I got an A but I dont think this guy should be teaching any college or even HS class. Disorganized isnt even the word for him.

DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER! I toke this class as my last prereq for poli sci at UCSD and I dropped in a hurry. I toke it at UC instead. Waste of time is not the word. He is awful. Does not focus on class lecture at all. Very confusing and hard to understand. His class is useless!!!
I enjoyed him in 140 I retook him for 101. I don't agree with his politics, but he offers a different and interesting point of view than most students are used to. The tests frequently have questions from the wrong chapters on them, he is always late, he's extremely disorganized, but I still got an A.
Best Teacher ever
This was the worst teacher I have ever had. He taught me nothing worth knowing. I agree with his politics, but he spent the class going off on his opinions and taught none of the material for the class. A complete waste of time & money...especially money since he had us buy 3 books and hardly used any of them. don't bother with this teacher.
If there is a al-qaeda operative working in the U.S. working underground to brainwash American youth, Dr. F is it. Ask him to name a country that he would feel good about in the place of the U.S. as a superpower, and you will stump him. He bashes the U.S. but cannot give you a better alternative. Left wing trash in a nutshell.
This guy hates America! He lets this affect his teaching. Everything he say s in class has a biased slant. but his tests are fair and he grades fair. His accent makes him difficult to understand at times. I got a B without much effort.

He tries to be a nice guy, but he's real random. Hes all over the place, disorganized, ALWAYS late.. You get excited knowing theres 3 mins to go before you can leave, but nope, he shows up right before. ALL THE TIME.. shows up in the last 2-3 mins of the waiting time. Never opened my book, and im a pro at doodling..
This guy rocks. i took one of his classes cause i had to and i went back and took all the other classes he offers. he has a good way of looking at politics and he is not affraid to say what needs to be said!!!!
I agree with his politics but I wished he'd shut up already cause he was making everyone that believes in that look CRAZY. He didn't show up 1st day so he made US stay late everyday. (summer 03)
TAKE HIM NOW!!! Farahani is by far THE BEST TEACHER I'VE HAD AT MESA! He's a very intelligent and funny professor. Yes he is late, and yes he is a little unorganized, but he's a GREAT teacher.

SUPER EASY IF YOURE A GIRL my boyfriend and i took this class and only showed up for the first two weeks. i passed w/ a B while my bf failed LOL. My girl friend only went to two classes and passed w/a C. he never stays on track of what he plans. tests get constantly pushed back. very easy to throw off topic to waste his time. easy grading.
If this class really was poli sci then it would be great but its not. Its how to be a communist 101. He hates people who make money and he wants all of us to be like people from the Netherlands. If you believe that 9/11 was our own fault then sign up for this class.
This guy is a joke. He comes into class and gives the same damn lecture same jokes and everything every damn class. I agree with alot of what he is saying but he repeats hiself the whole class every class. He assigned us 3 books and we only used 1. He changes what assignments are due and when constantly as well. I like him but hes crazy
I finished his class over a month ago and he still hasn't put the grades out? If u take him he will tell you the same jokes every class, hes also sick alot and he wears the same clothes every day
Can't reccomend him, pretty easy class, hes easily swayed to push back test dates. Same lecture EVERY day, if you're looking for a passing grade, take his class and rarely show up. I seriously hated this class. Text is garbage too.
TERRIBLE teaher, not clear at all this is a typical class; he shows up 10-15 min late, we go over current events for and hour and a half, he rambles for another hour about sumthing tottaly off topic, then touchs on he subject matter for 10 min and we leave, then were suposed to know everything for the test. LAME teacher. Avoid if possable!!!!
Pathetic excuse for a college instructor. Highly disorganized,unprepared, and late for lectures. A definite "lets make the rules as we go by" professor. The absolute worst Mesa College has to offer. Stay away from this man like the plague.
He is a poor excuse fo a college prof and lazy. He gave everyone same grade whether they deserved it or not, even those who deserved better. I thank him for that but it was unfair to the others. I had a study group that worked hard. the slackers got away with murder even those on pot.
Is a walking brochure for what kind of professor you should avoid at Mesa Colege. It's a wonder that this individual is still teaching despite his gross incompetence and unprofessionalism( habitually tardy and unprepared for the lectures). His personal politics takes away from the objectivity of the class-this is coming from a bonfide liberal!
He is late for 10-15 minutes every day, even if it is a test day. his lectures are interesting, eventhough you will not learn any thing from it. Every question in the test comes from the review. If you want to work alone and be prepare take him but if you don't want to waste your time for waiting 10-15 minutes than don't.
He is a super intelligent guy, he has a lot of information that he shares with the class. Is very flexible with deadlines. He cares about the success of his students and understands there are other things going on besides school.
Farahani rocks! I do not get what people mean. He totally makes Poli Sci fun. He is a riot! I don't recall him being late. And we need not accuse people of being on pot (as mentioned by another commenter). I enjoyed his class very much..

I took the class credit no credit, I didn't purchase the book, and still managed to pass the class. I never recall any homework. The guy goes off topic for about 30 mins each class so if your late, you didn't miss anything. I got 50's on his test, but he adds 20 - 30 more points to his test, so it would bump me up to a C or B. Take this guy!
Took him for poli sci 101. He is a good teacher, but just likes to talk a lot and he goes off subject sometime. He is always on time and takes attendance regularly. Farahani is awesome, always has interesting lectures and videos, for each class session. Very, very liberal, must still keeps the topic interesting. 3 multiple choice tests. 1 paper, and a final with essay. Gives you good study guide before each test.

This professor is absolutely terrible. If you're looking to simply get a passing grade he is your guy. Unless you vigorously kiss ass I think its quite hard to get an A. Most questions from tests aren't from the book. And you can't say anything because he doesn't let you see the tests after you take them. Not a very bright teacher if you ask me.
Nice guy, and he tells humorous stories. However, he has Poor organization and tends to repeat himself. I really didn't learn much in the course, but it was fairly easy.
Take this class if you want an easy passing grade. If you want to actually learn something than stay away. He is incredibly disorganized and too much of the class is wasted on random tangents he goes off on. The good news is that he hands out tons of extra credit so its easy to get at least a passing grade.
Professor Farahani is a very nice man and really knows his stuff, but does not have any organizational skills what so ever. Just show up 2-3 days before the exam and he'll tell you the page numbers on the book for the test, and do the one pagers and you'll for surely pass.
I had a lot of fun in his class, he is very left sided about his views on politics, but just ignore that, I didn't even buy the book, just studied with friends. I got a B, he's pretty easy, you can do whatever in his class. Just if you don't pay attention to the lecture, read the book. Also there is big EC oppurtunities!
This teacher is horrible. He has assignments due all the time. His use of blackboard is horrid. He never replies to emails, his answer keys to tests are always wrong so we fix them in class and the class average on tests go from the 50-60% to 80-100% but it is an easy class so just do what you're told.

Disorganized on the blackboard. Students who did all assignments or never did any assignments have all received the same final grades because he didn't look on any students' turn-in assignments and never replied students' email as well. terrible class!!!
Rarely went over book material, but when he did, it was from the book's website, thus he was completely unprepared with his OWN material. He would spend a majority of class time discussing current events. Class averages on tests were in the 50 percentile, simply because materials were rarely covered in class. Nice guy. Funny. But read book to learn

Took class at Mesa. Nice enough guy. Likeable liberal, but kinda nuts. Tends to be late, unorganized, and easily distracted. His exams had no resemblance to our textbook. I'm serious. It was like he'd pulled them from another class he taught with a different textbook. My test scores were in the 60s and 70s, but everyone's were. I still got an 'A'.
Prof Farahani was very easy. Extended tests dates, let you turn in assignments late. If the majority of the class got a question wrong on an exam he gave everyone a point.
Great instructor! Mr. Farahani knows his stuff and is quite inspirational. So glad to see he's still teaching!
Clarity is horrible. He goes off topic all of the time so you might as well read the book on your own. The tests are easy because they come straight out of the book. NOTHING HE SAYS IS ON THE TEST! READ THE BOOK

He can be confusing at times but it's easy to get a good grade. He's very lenient. He's very excited about the subjects he talks about. Just read the text book and you will do good in the exam. Make sure to send your papers to the correct email address he only checks one.
Very sweet guy. He will let you take tests late, let you turn in assignments late. While in class he is very enthusiastic about what he speaks about but none of it is on the test. It's ALL from the book. Make sure to turn your assignments in to the right email address, he only checks one.
He's really nice. however, he's always late, if you ask him to postpone the test he will. we only had 3 test when we're suppose to have 4 test this semester. you will never find out your grade until the end of the semester. hard test. the study guide doesn't help. if you don't want to learn he's the right prof for you.
One of the easiest professors I ever had. Sometimes boring, but he'll adjust your test score. I found his lectures interesting overall. Will help you if you need his help. Gives plenty of extra credits. Very easy papers required for the class.
He was very disorganized and didn't explain things clearly. Although he seems a bit nice he tends to go off into tangents. For the most part he'll start the class with news clips and afterwards he'll present the textbook slideshow presentation. He also changed due dates and test dates all of the time.
Very Simple class. He is very nice and polite he just wants you to take an interest in politics. I had a misunderstanding with him about an assignment, I informed him about this and he let me make it up.
I'm not sure how to describe my experience in this class. There was little to no organization, which was not entirely his fault - however even without COVID interrupting the semester, I probably wouldn't have learned anything in the classroom. Everything I learned was from the text, and sitting through his ramblings brought pain to my soul.
