What a great teacher! He by far wasn't the easiest teacher I have had, but he did a great job teaching the material and making it interesting.. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

very helpful teacher if you ask him questions. Essay are either easy or hard, so depending on how good you write will determine your grade. get a couple of good scores then you will pass with ease. Teacher is interesting sometimes

Don't be folled by my apparently good rating of this teacher. Yes the class is easy and clear, and he is somewhat helpful. But if I had to hear one more Star Trek metaphor, I think I might have killed myself. He is a very boring and strange teacher.

Sam does like to talk. Sometimes you wonder about what. You can throw away all those handouts. Seriously. Throw them out. LOL. he is a great instructor and is very knowledgeable about his subject so let him talk. Take a nap but make changes to your papers as he notes. He really helped develope my skills as a writer and I would like to say thank you

Borring!, he's a cool teacher but its a pain to try to keep your eyes from shutting (he will put you to sleep)

It is boring but it is an easy A. You only need to do at least 4 essay. It is super easy. Only listen to his lectures.

Very nice teacher (boring lecture). However, he's a very good teacher, helps a lot explaining essay format, very clear and brief showing you how to write a good essay. Its a boring class, but you for sure you can pass Mr. Hatch class for english 79 !!!! ^_*

He is a very nice guy with an excellent sense of humor. He likes to poke fun of himself. He assigns a lot of work in 1D. The book you read by Daniel Goleman sucked and was a total bore.

Wow! Where do I begin? Mr. Hatch is a great teacher who wants to see his students succeed. However, the amount of work he assigns is ridiculously CRAZY!!!! I have never been put to work so hard, for a 3 unit class!!!! You have to read two books, write like 1,000 papers, and read a bunch of NUMEROUS, useless handouts.

Mr. Hatch is an awsome teacher. He tries real hard to be helpful in any way possible. This class at first might seem boring, but it really isnt. There are alot of reading involved in this class so be prepared! The essays were'nt as bad as people made it seem. They were rather easy if you don't do it last minute. i recommend Mr. Hatch for english 79

He helps you with anything you need help with, and he really tries to be as clear as possible.My advice is most definitely read the novels. Listen to the lectures and take notes because his ideas helped me with establish ideas for essays.Lots of work,but you learn

Great teacher with sense of humor. People say the class is boring, make the best of it. Nice and willing to help whenever needed, just ASK! If you think the class is hard you're probably just lazy. Do the work and make and effort and you'll be fine! He can be funny and very laid back.

Mr. Hatch is a knowledgeable English teacher. He offers a great insight on the stories read in class, and expects the same back from his students. He can at times talk around a subject (and never actually answer it), but he is a great person to be around and I would take the class again if I could.

His class was pretty long, but he was a cool guy. we had homework like every day, but it was so easy. he was very helpful when it came to writing essays. i'm glad i took him for english 79.

Excellent teacher! It's a lot of work, but if you work hard, you'll get the A. I was a high school student when I took the class, so if I was able to get an A, I think you can as well.

Mr. Hatch's class is fairly easy, but you HAVE to get the work in. His homework is due in packet and he checks preliminaries so remember to finish EVERYTHING b4 preliminaries! the only complaints i have about him is that his voice is kinda boring and he passes out a TON of packets to read. other than that i think hes a good teacher. i kinda liked h

Mr. Hatch is kinda helpful. He just grades really hard. If the essay isnt something he wants he will give u a bad grade. It has to be the hardest English class I have ever taken.

This has to be the hardest course I have taken at Delta. Mr. Hatch really cares about what he teaches, because he understands you will need it in the future. If you are serious about actually learning something, take this class. Otherwise, if you are looking for an easy A. I suggest you stay away. He is very helpful, and easy to approach. Very Hard

Mr. Hatch is an overall nice guy, however, when you have to sit through his class for 2 1/2 hours, it is brutal!! His voice is very mono tone and he hands out several packets for you to look over. I threw away all of mine everytime I received one. We only had 3 or 4 essays the whole semester and he grades pretty hard!

It was a good class. I learned alot and wish I had taken it earlier in my schooling. You need to do all the work and reading. Take notes, do the handouts, and really try hard at improving your writing and you will get an "A". Mr. Hatch is kind of wordy and not always clear, but he is very willing to restate info. and help you, just ask.

I will admit that this class is difficult, but if you work hard, keep up on the reading assifnments, and pay attention..you will do well. The things i have learend in this class will follow me through out the rest of college:)

First, I must say that Sam is very nice, and only means well. Issue 1: All the (many useless) packets you're gonna get. It's completely ridiculous. Issue 2: The textbooks. He requires a bunch and you'll find that you may use a couple of them only a couple times. Waste of money. Also, some very pointless work must be done with the essays.

Mr. Hatch was a great teacher! I took him for English 79 and so far has been one of the most enjoyable classes that I've taken at Delta. He has a dry sense of humor that most people are not interested in getting, but it makes the class much more enjoyable! He taught me how to write an essay! Easily approachable and explains things very well!

Hatch speaks too slow and to monotonously. He feels the need to explain things several times over. And while I'm nearly beating my head against the desk just to stay awake, as I feel my very soul is halfway out of my body, there's someone next to me snoring and another on her cell. I would rather listen to Stephen Hawkings weird computer voice.

Mr. Hatch is a great teacher. He really wants to help. Yes, he is boring at times and does have a monotone voice that can put someone to sleep, but if you really pay attention, you'll really learn something. He does have a lot of handouts, most of which I did not use.

Despite his monotoney voice and lame jokes, he is a good teacher. He has a different style of teaching so you need to adjust to it in order to pass. He does not kid around when he says you need a 3" binder but its mostly just informative handouts. I missed class a lot but still ended up with a B. Very easy final also.

Probably the easiest class I've taken that was English related. He isn't super funny, but he tries to be. He was beyond willing to explain anything that needed to be clarified. Not too many essays to do and even then you pick the topics you want to write on for the most part. He is also willing to compromise things being late if you have a reason.

Mr Hatch is one of the most caring, flexible and Patient individuals I have ever had the pleasure to meet. He truly cares about his students. Because of HIM I did not give up and aimed High. Thank you Mr Hatch for believing in me. May God forever bless you. See you in the Spring.

There were an awful lot of hand-outs, but you know what, I kept them all. They're interesting and chocked full of great info. Sam Hatch was a great teacher. Fun and helpful. I loved this class, and the teacher. I'd say anyone who loves English should take his class. It was a lot of fun, and very helpful.

Mr. Hatch is cool. I took his class because I remembered him from Tokay High. It can get a bit difficult sometimes listening because he has a lulling voice, but he knows his stuff and he's cool about it when you struggle. He gives out 2 free late waivers for assignments and is generally considerate and compassionate. I'd take him again.

This class was easy although his lectures are really annoying. His voice is really monotone and he tells corny jokes. I wouldn't recommend this class. You'll fall asleep like everyone else.

Thorough at explaining things during daily lectures & he is also very silly cracking a few jokes in between ... Learned a lot compared to highschool.

Lectures were very long and boring. Professor Hatch hands out reading assignments every class session that are 10+ pages long. Grades essays fairly. He does give you two rewrites total on any assignment/essay. Overall, the class is okay. I wouldn't take him again.

Take him! You won't regret it. He prepares you for mastery and 1A. He gives helpful packets, updates students with their grades, easy homework, & a research paper that is based from one of the in-class essays for finals. Don't worry too much, he is really helpful& will explain again what u dont understand from lectures. Good luck next students!

Professor was very funny, but his jokes might not be for everyone. The class was good but the lectures got very boring. Fast responder. Pay attention to the lectures and ask for help and you will pass the class with an A.
