I have heard Mr. Kalajo is a great teacher, but after being in his class I have seen no such thing. I retook 0312 to understand it better, but he does not explain the reasons behind the problems. He tells you to, "Do this because it works." However, he IS very clear and sometimes pretty funny.

He cares if you learn the Math, but you have to be willing to try and ask questions until you're clear. If you are silent, then who's to blame for your failure? Will be taking Calculus this semester, it is my 4th class with him. It is better to stay with an instructor you understand, that will help you if you show an interest in learning!!!!!

Kalajo is the BEST! This is my 2nd class with him! Class seems difficult at first but he is passionate about the success of his students. If you try to make an effort in his class, he will help you out ALOT! +5 for perfect attendance (on the SEMESTER AVG!) Overall great guy! Just go to class and take good notes and you'll be fine! *Open-note tests!

He is the best professor I have ever known; nice, knowledgable, and very helpful. He cares so much about his students, because he wants them to learn math in good way and have a better future. Be on time in his class,take good notes, and ask quastions if you have any, then you will make an easy A.If you realy want to learn math,Then he is the one.

If it wasn't for this professor I would not be able move on with any other classes (must pass math for my major). He is a great option if you find math at U of H too difficult; I transfererred two classes with Mr. Kalajo. A great asset to the teaching community! Listen and write down everything he says and not rely on the book, which is confusing.

took him for algebra. easy teacher if you listen and take good notes. lets you use "cheat sheets" on test. the book is not needed. he teaches you the shortcuts and only uses the books for math problems. homework is all done on math lab which is due a week before the final. know your basics and TAKE GOOD NOTES! sarcastic but don't take it to heart.

Very cool teacher easy with the notes. lets you use you personal writing notes for test overall he is willing to help anyone after class and desires everybody to pass.

He's very clear on how to solve problems, and teaches you the problems until you understand them. No book needed. Cheat sheets are allowed. Do ALL your homework and show up to class everyday. If you do, he gives an extra 5 points toward your final grade. He's strict, but easy...if that makes sense.

This man is funny and sweet. He can be a bit to serious when I use to crack jokes but over all he take his time and he allows you to ask questions. He wants you to pass he gives good advice and his test are easy just study.

Very good teacher, Sure I got a C+ but because I did half the effort and didn't ever open my book once, and yet I still passed. I took Pre-Cal and PASSED, but he is really nice and teaches you his method of doing the problems(which are easier by the way)and then teaches you how to do it the book way.

I took him for a weekend class very easy going, the test were very fair the material that cover was exactly what had the test. Overall I got a B ...I am not good in math but he made me become better at that subject. Highly recomend this teacher to everybody ... he lets you used notes on test take advantage of that

Very Helpful clear and yes he goes fast but thats math. He'll ask constantly if you understand doesn't mind going through it with you. attending lecture is a MUST! His examples will definitely help you for the test I made an A in the course I'd definitely recommend him!

He's not easy, but what math professor is? He's very detailed in his teaching style, and will help you understand if you need the help. All the tests are scantron which was a HUGE help. He's pretty solid.

I had him for almost all my Math classes at West Loop and he is a great teacher. Show up and pay attention and you will pass. For Cal1 if you have a hard time ask questions. He will always help you out.

Mr. Kalajo is the greatest professor ever. He gives you many chances to pass his class. He is crystal clear, but he is fast. However, if you stop and ask him a question he will go back and explain. He doesn't mind going back. Just take good notes, and u dont need a book. His notes are very similar to the test. And do ur homework u will pass.

MR. Kalajo is an awesome math professor! i had him for 0306, and 0308 and im horrible in math but with his great tesching skills i made it through! I definately reccomend him to those who catch on slow or dont like math as much.

He knows his subject well and is a great teacher. He does, however, get frustrated at times with students who don't understand the basic concepts ( ones we should already know!) I don't blame him! Just study hard (do more practice problems than the few homework problems he gives) and you will do fine.

Great Teacher!! Makes the material very easy to understand. Also very lenient. Tests are easy too if you study and do the homework. Definitely take him if you want to learn and get an A! BUT, you HAVE to attend class! He's big on that! And pluss, if you miss class you miss a lot of material and fall behind.

Mr. Houssam is excellent professor. His methods to teach is very clear and organize. He follows clearly steps to solve the questions. I study with him math 1314, and I make a future plan to continue study all my math classes with him. I recommend him for students who want to understand the material and take easy A.

he's organized but sometimes he goes too fast and made it confusing to know what section we were on. he would just keep doing problems on an on. he does know his stuff and if you dont understand something ask him. study, study and you should do fine.

He gives you handouts and let's you use a cheat sheet on the tests. He will go over any questions you have and he is a pretty funny guy. I highly recommend him

He was really easy, I took him in a 3 week mini session, he said if you have perfect attendance he will add 5 points to your final grade, 4 exams over all, he drops one and if you miss one he will replace that with the final exam grade. just pay attention in his class and take notes, he lets u use notes on the test, so you can write anything!

Mr. Kalajo is very good teacher . I highly recommend him for the student who wants to continue math classes. He gives four tests and drop the lowest one and final. He gives five extra points for perfect attendances,his tests depend on his explanation in class. If you want an A just review his notes.

If you're a person who is lazy, then don't take this professor. I don't know why people are complaining about how he goes to fast & etc. Such people are lacking motivation to step it up in college. I took his class in a 5 week Summer session and managed to get an A. Just do your homework on MyMathLab & study for your tests & you should do fine.

Good teacher. Takes a while to get used to, but just apply yourself and do the practice problems. And don't be afraid to speak up during class and ask questions. Odds are, there are a number of other people in the class with the same question. Taking him again this semester.

I took Elements of Calculus with him and LOVED it! If you have perfect attendance, he gives you an extra 5 points. He's super helpful and gives you shortcuts on how to solve questions. Tests are based off of classwork and lets you use a formula sheet! I recommend him to everyone who hates Calc! You will love him!

I am extremely weak in maths and I still pulled off an A. Mr. Kalajo is a very kind man who will help after class. You simply have to want to suceed and study independently. Take good notes in class, study for a few hours at home, and you should be fine.

Mr. Kalajo is a nice teacher but that moves at a fast pace, so if you are by any chance taking his class: be prepared and write down as many notes as you can for he WILL go fast on you. If you cannot understand his talking, look at what he writes on the white board. Please try to sit in front of of the class, too!

He's a great professor! One of the best at HCC! Just make sure you go to class and review your notes after class. I took him during the winter along with another class and did fine. He goes a little fast so make sure you have a decent knowledge of algebra before taking him.

This prof is Great. He explains the problems well, shows the stepwise process and is willing to answer any questions students ask. Going to class on time and taking good note is the key of making an A in this class. I totally recommend him

I just finished up a summer session and within those 5 weeks, you need to do a lot of extra outside studying to be able to pass the class. But Mr. Kalajo helps you out a lot as well. If you have perfect attendance, he'll give you 5 extra points to your overall grade, and he'll also drop your lowest test score!

Taking Cal in summer is intense but the prof eases my worries. We dont even need to buy textbook, just take and review his note carefully. 4 tests, drop the lowest one. 5 points bonus for perfect attendance. Questions in Final are basically from the previous tests. He makes Math easier to grasp and I truly enjoy his class

This professor is by far my favorite professor I've ever had. I used to be horrible in math but he teaches in a way that's very easy to understand and as long as you make the effort and show you care about the class he will help you and always encourage you. I have taken him for 3 separate math classes, all A's, and will continue to take him.

I've never been good at math but he changed that!! He is the best math professor I have ever had and I will be taking him next semester as well for precalc. He teaches in a way you can understand and makes everything clear. He's really intelligent. definitely recommend him to those who struggle in math. with him you'll understand math, finally.

I failed this class after a problem with the online homework and i would still take a second class with him! Very clear, when i got to tests it was hard for me but that was nothing to do with him! DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!

3wk mini session. An abundance of Homework, tests are obnoxiously hard. However, he gives 2 attempts & 2 hours for each test (5) (drops 1) & 5 tries on HW (28 sec)(all online on webassign) rec. using watch it & read it. Had a technical prob with a test & he rectified it. Answered all my emails promptly. It's a lot of work but highly recommend him.

He is very strict but very understanding. No slacking off, you won't pass. Tests are based on his lectures. So listen, take notes, and you will do fine at least. I got As.

Great teacher. Gives 4 exams and drops the lowest score. Homework score will help if you are making D's to pass the class. Gives 5 points on overall grade if perfect attendance. This class is just pretty tough (especially during a mini session). The professor is pretty inflexible, but his class is very well organized and his expectations are very clear. Do all of your homework; it will save your grade! Don't even bother with the textbook. I would take his class again, but be ready to work!

Mr. Kalajo is the best! He explains things so simply that I sit and wonder "Why was this ever hard for me?" You MUST do your work. He will know if you don't! I keep trying to convince him to teach at another HCC campus because I have yet to find another teacher that is as good as him!

Here is what to expect, be on time, participate, ask questions, work on homework everyday, go prepared to class, he has no tolerance for excuses or laziness. Take notes, he goes fast so stay alert and if you got lost just ask he will help you. This is my second time taking a math class with Professor Kajalo and I enjoy his class very much!
