Easy enough. I would recommend taking this class
Pretty easy class. 3 exams (3rd was our final), 2 out-of-class assignments, and weekly participation questions. He may curve exams based on class performance, which helped my grade. He provides study guides on things you should know. There's also EC that will help out. He's a good professor! I'd recommend him.
Great Teacher. My Favorite class for the semester. you ARE going to read the book and you DO have to go to class, if you want a good grade. very helpfull and clear and made the class super funny and enjoyable
This is a great class, I enjoyed all lectures and projects. Great professor, nice, clear in lecture, organized power points & cute in a geeky way. You don't need the book if you are in class everyday.. but do study for exams.. most times he curves the grades and this helps you out big time! do the extra credit and you will get a good grade :)
This is a cool class, Kobari is a good professor, he gave 2 midterms, 2 papers, and 1 final that is not cumulative. Attendance is not mandatory, I didn't read the book, but I went to all of the classes. His power points really help.
Super interesting class, this professor is so hot, thus I promptly went to every class. Just paying attention to his lecture and writing good notes got me an A, minimal homework. Super chill, love him!
is very pleasant and treats everyone equally
Class was very interesting. He is such an awesome professor. I recommend taking him :)
Very interesting yet grotesque at times. He knows his stuff, 3 midterms, online hw, no essays. Various guest speakers. Should buy book, used for hw. Go to class, take notes. Posts his ppt on blackboard. Amusing and fun professor!
Awesome class would recommend to anyone very interesting and easy
Great and fun professor! 1 small assignment + essay, 3 midterms and weekly online participation q's (to make sure you're paying attention in class). Explains harder concepts thoroughly and he's pretty lenient. Tests based off of lecture unless he says read something out of the book. I would definitely recommend him.
Best professor at State. He is super helpful and is always willing to help a student if they have a question. Honestly you don't need the book if you go to class and pay attention because he uses his power points for test questions. He is also super attractive and funny so it's worth it to attend class.
Easy class if u attend lecture. Weekly HW not difficult at all.
Coolest class ever with an awesome professor. It helps that he's super interested and passionate about the topic plus he's attractive. I went to class just because it was interesting, but when I did miss class, it wasn't a big deal because he posts the power points online. Lots of extra credit opportunities as well.
Kobari is very enthusiastic about anthro and is very knowledgable as well. He only lectures from power points, which makes it really hard to retain any information. Has participation quizzes every week to ensure attendance. Study hard and reteach yourself come exam time! Subjects in class are very dry and repetitive, makes class very boring
Sam is hilarious! Some of his test answers have really funny choices which means he's helping you out on the test by providing the obvious answer that isn't correct. No need for the book all. His lectures are online if you miss class. He has EXCELLENT study guides. He's also hot, really good with email replies, and there's 15% extra credit.
Lots of extra credit, interesting class. It was my favorite class of the semester. He's a good, funny professor. The tests are pretty easy too.
Professor Kobari is amazing. He explains everything really well in class and his tests are all based off of the power-points. The only assignments are a paper, a genetics assignment, and participation quizzes each week. All are super easy. He doesn't take attendance but it is in your best interest to go to class. Overall super interesting and easy
This class is one of the best I've taken at state. Professor Kobari is always prepared and organized. The class is always interesting and he has a good sense of humor. The TA was also good, better than some professors. There's homework due every Friday and 2 midterms and a final. Extra Credit is also offered several times though out the semester.
Professor Kobari is a very clear and straightforward. This class is an easy A if you put the work into it. There is one paper, 3 exams, a "genetic assignment" and weekly participation quizzes. The participation quizzes are easy if you go to class, although its not mandatory. Also, do bother buying the book as the test is ppt lectured based.
Super understanding and nice guy. There's no midterm or final for this course, just standard review tests and weekly online participation checks. You can easily get by without the book, he puts all his lectures online. He really tries to make class not so awful. There is a paper towards the middle of the semester, but it's simple.
amazing professor . Hot ! Hot ! Hot. Clearly loves Anthro ! ) I would take him again and again if I could!!
He's the man. Easy A or B if you show up and try. He will help at office hours.
I'm not a big science person, but Kobari makes Anthropology really interesting. It is clear that he loves teaching and is super passionate about his work. Go over your notes after every class because you need to know a lot of info for his tests. He offers a 15% boost in a test grade which saved me. Don't bother buying the book bc you won't need it
I found this subject to be very difficult, but Kobari knows most people are taking this class as a GE so he makes it bearable. He posts his lectures, but going to class is important because he gives you test and participation answers. Tests are hard, but he offers generous extra credit which saved my grade. Do not need the book. Funny and cool guy.
AWFUL! His lectures are ridiculously difficult to understand because he can't speak without tripping ALL over his words!! Tries to be clever with the wording on the tests so they're not too easy, but then the questionsanswers don't make sense. I don't think he knows english well because the discussion board wording makes no sense. STAY AWAY!!!!!!!
I took his class all online and found it very easy. There is homework, a quiz, and a discussion almost every week but all the material is right from the book and can be found online too. The lectures average to 30 min a week which is a lot less time than a normal class.
I took it online and it was super easy. Most answers for test, quizzes, and exams can be found on quizlet. Discussions boards are due every week, but as long as you actually put some thought into it, you will be okay. One short research paper, and three exams (not cumulative). No study guides, but the exam questions were the exact same from the HW
I took this an a mandatory GE class and decided to take it online. Online makes this class much easier as you can have access to a book and notes while doing homework and tests. Highly recommend taking for GE credit as Kobari is a fair grader but there is a fair amount of work each week.
I loved Professor Kobari! So nice and tests were easy if you go over his lectures. you don't need the textbook as the tests are solely based on his lectures. He's awesome take him!
Kabob's class was awesome. Does a great job of covering a lot of aspects of anthro. So if you're not good at one aspect he drops your worst test grade. Study guides help a lot and offers some really awesome extra credit opportunity's. Class isn't necessary but his lectures are interesting so it doesn't really matter.
Took Professor Kobari's class online. There is a lot of busy work with wkly hmwk tests & quizzes plus disc. board essays and two replies to others. Short research paper make sure you cite your work appropriately. Did not offer ec & make sure you reply something to two classmates discussion entry's or lose 50%. Overall good & fairly easy class.
Kobari was a pretty good professor. Anthro is not an easy class, but he gives students various opportunities to raise their grades. He also gives really helpful study guides before the tests, and even drops one of the tests at the end of the semester. I would recommend taking him!
Work includes 3 exams, biweekly discussions (w 2 replies), biweekly hw, weekly quiz. He wants you to read the chapter and often assigns pdf articles varying from 6 to 12 pgs. Lectures are FULL OF MISTAKES. In fact, a lot of his facts are WRONG. Really bad speller, has terrible grammar, and his inability to use technology messes up YOUR grade.
There's a LOT of weekly homework so set an alarm on your phone because you WILL forget at least once if you have a social life. Reading quizzes, lecture quizzes, discussion boards. Also a research paper in the middle of the semester, it was easy though. Everything you need for tests is on quizlet, no excuse not to pass, just boring and work loaded.
Anthropology isn't the easiest class in general, theres a huge amount of memorization. However, Kobari is a very down to earth instructor, and he will definitely help you with questions if you ask. Go to class for participation points; even though he and his class are already enjoyable enough, you don't need too much motivation to show up.
Took this class online, and it was the easiest A I've ever received. tests are straightforward, weekly homework is super simple if you do the reading, and the research essay was easy and graded fairly. There's a good amount of weekly homework, but it didn't take too long. I highly highly recommend taking this class.
Very funny guy! While he doesn't take attendance, he will give out participation questions to answer on Blackboard, and they are worth 10% of your grade. His tests are based on his lectures, so no book is needed. He posts a study guide with questions that are exactly what you need to know for the test. Tests are not hard. One paper.
Super hot, easy A. Go to class for participation, listen to the lecture, do at least one extra credit assignment.
If you're going to take this class, I recommend taking it online. It's repetitive so it's hard to forget about doing your homework since it's always due on Monday night. They're a bit long but straightforward so it's not too difficult. I only got a B+ because I didn't do a few of the discussions due to laziness, but otherwise should be an easy A.
Gives plenty of opportunity to up your grade has af ew test and an essay nothing too bad have to really study on tests though to get an A easy B but you have to work for A
Take this class online! It is a very easy class online. 1 discussion, 1 quiz and 1 homework weekly and it takes about 2 hours if you focus. This might have been the easiest class I've taken at State.
Grade mostly based on 3 tests(final isn't cumulative), and two easy projects. Passing is easy, he gives study guides, posts lectures on blackboard, and gives extra credit opportunities. Doesn't take attendance but you should go to class anyway because participation ?s are 10% of your grade and he makes the material interesting to learn. Loved him!
Took this class online and thought it was relatively easy to get an A as long as you do the weekly assignments. Each week there was online homework, a quiz, and a discussion topic. One midterm and final were very easy and answers could be found online. Only hard thing was the research paper in which he gave most people at least a 95%.
He's really knowledgeable and passionate about what he teaches and gives great lectures. Two take home assignments (one essay), three tests including the final, and the rest of the grade is participation. Tests are a bit difficult but if you study this class is definitely an easy A.
I took this class online so it was pretty easy. Make sure to be detailed when it comes to posting and replying on the discussion boards. There is also a research paper that is sort of difficult since it requires only academic sources. Honestly a lot of the answers to the homework and exams were online. But I still thought this class was cool!
This class was interesting for a topic I am not typically interested in. Prof Kobari is obviously very passionate about this field which made the class fun and entertaining. The lectures aren't boring and the few assignments were easy as well as the exams which were multiple choice. As long as you attend class and take notes it's fun and easy.
Kobari is generally a nice guy. His course is very organized and well thought out. Every week your assigned HW, a quiz and a discussion. The discussions are worth most of your grade!! The HW is easy, quizzes are a little harder, and the tests are word for word the HW. He communicates well with students. Overall, awesome online course.
Kobari was great as was this class! I really found it to be interesting and that was mainly due to Kobari's teaching. The class was pretty easy and he offers up to 15 extra exam points. Which is a lot. Definitely worth taking and there is a zoo project which is a lot fun to do for extra credit.
This class was an alternative to regular biology. It was pretty interesting and Kobari is very passionate about anthropology. There are 3 tests and a research paper. You do online assignments on Fridays which are pretty easy. Take this class if you are tired of learning about basic biology and want to learn about our past.
Not too amazing, not a bad prof/class. Had higher expectations of the class and some of the material is just boring. The prof did cut lecture off early a few times and he tries with some humor. Just go to class and take notes, study hard for tests and you're fine. The online weekend work was kind of annoying though. Opened the textbook once.
Kobari is super chill & makes the lectures really interesting. He provides extra credit & the tests are straight from the lectures (he gives study guides for each exam)! Also, the final is not cumulative! Attendance is not mandatory, but i would recommend going to his classes because he will occasionally do participation questions!
This class if by far the easiest online class I have ever taken. HW and quizzes every week that come straight from the book. Along with those you have a discussion post but the topics are easy to find information about. As for the tests most questions come from the HW except for the final which was a little difficult. Also assigns a research paper!
I love Kobari. He is such a great professor and a chill guy. I absolutely hate science but he made anthropology easy and interesting to understand. There are weekly homework assignments that are super easy. There are two midterms and the final is not cumulative! The only semi hard part of the class was the paper which he gives out mostly A's.
I took his Anthro 101 online class and it was the easiest class ever! He gives us weekly homework which consisted of lecture, homework, quiz, and discussion boards and you reply to two other classmates. In the middle of semester he assigns a research paper 3-4 pages which is super easy just make sue it is done before hand. I recommend him!
Kobari's class is really not hard if you show up and take notes during lecture. He goes through powerpoints super fast so you always need to pay attention (seriously). The exams are based off of lectures so you need to show up to class. His assignments are not hard, there's just a lot of them. He's a great professor, very nice, and very helpful!
I LOVED this class!. Kobari is the perfect mix of entertaining and funny while still being productive and knowledgable. The course material was really interesting and you can tell he really cares about Anthropology. He gives out easy participation credit for going to class and very detailed study guides for tests. You won't regret taking him.
READ READ READ. I procrastinated so much in this class since it was online.
The professor is super funny and keeps lectures interesting. The class is not hard at all and as long as you memorize whats on the study guide you'll do good on the test. Kobari has a passion for anthropology and the way he lectures will not bore you at all, plus the material we learn is super interesting!
My first online class and it was a cake walk. The material wasn't hard to understand. Pretty easy class to strive in if you do all the assignments. Hardest part was the research paper, but I ended up getting a 100 on it so maybe he is just a super easy grader. He responds to emails fast and is willing to help. GPA booster for sure! Def Recommend.
I took his online course and would recommend it. Grade consists of weekly discussion boards, online hw, bb quizzes, online tests/final, and one midterm 7 paged paper. Just be sure to be on top of submitting everything on time (He doesn't accept anything late)
Weekly HW consists of inquisitive (quiz from textbook) HW quizzes (1 submission but can go back anytime as long as you do it before Monday 11:59), weekly discussions (3-4 questions that you answer and then you respond to 2 of your classmates). 1 research paper (I completely BS-ed it and got 100%). 2 "midterms" 1 final; all non cumulative
I seriously loved this class as much as he loves his job and the subject (a lot). I wouldn't suggest skipping a class because a lot is covered, but there are only 2 assignments and 4 tests. As long as you study what's on the study guide, you'll do awesome! There's a lot of extra credit offered too so do it!! You don't need the book.
This course was very straight forward. Be attentive to due dates! We had 1 quiz and a homework assignment (unlimited attempts to get 100%) due every Monday night. You are given 1 whole week to finish those assignments. There was only 2 exams and 1 paper in addition to the weekly assignments. Check quizlets for the exams and quizzes!
I never really attended class and ended up with an A-, just make sure you get someone to give you the participation question. His study guides are very closely related to the test, so if there's a google doc you should be fine! You don't need the book, he's an easy grader. Overall nice guy, very smart. Interesting class.
I took Professor Kirobi's online class and I have never been treated with such disrespect as anytime I had to interact with him via email. His class requires you to sit at the computer for hours on end doing repetitive work. He has you write a research paper during the semester and gives little to no direction as to how or what to write it on.
One of the best professors I've had at state for sure. Since it's hybrid, every friday he posts an assignment due by monday but they're usually easy and straightforward. Tests are easy since most, if not all, of the material can be found on his lecture slides. One big research paper but gives you like a full month to do it. Highly recommend!!
Kobari is great! Lectures are interesting and there's not much homework. There also isn't a text book or access code you need to buy! Tests are 50% of your grade and can be difficult, but he offers a lot of extra credit which made it easy for me to get an A- in the class. I learned a lot of random information and would recommend this as an easy GE.
Definitely recommend as a GE. All online class with everything for the week due on Monday night. Taking notes on the textbook can take awhile but as long as you keep up and don't forget to post on the discussion board etc. you should get a good grade.
The easiest class I have taken at State. Your grade depends heavily on weekly discussion board posts, but they are pretty easy. You also have to write a paper, he grades them easily. I started mine a couple hours before it was due and I got an 100. Test are not easy but that doesnt really matter because most of the answers are on quizlet. EASY A
The homework took a while, but was all due Monday nights. Sometimes we'd be exempt from some of our hw due to holidays, breaks, and exams. If you have to take this class with Kobari, take the online one. He let us use the book and our notes for the online exams, which we could do whenever within 3 days. He was understanding yet firm and reasonable
Really good class to get a GE out of the way. Highly recommend taking his online class. Grades is based of Discussion boards, 3 tests, quizzes and a research paper, but they're easy to complete if you put time into them.
Such an easy GE instead of taking biology or something else in the life science category. Each week you have a discussion board, about 20-30 questions, online inquitivive. 2 midterms and non cumulative final. One research paper that is graded easy.
Online ANTH101 is a moderate amount of work but really easy A. You don't really need to read the book, just watch the videos.
The easiest class you will ever take. Make sure to follow his instructions and guidelines for each type of assignment and you will receive the full credit. The questions for all of the midterms can be found on quizlet and the paper is super easy. Work consists of a weekly quiz, discussion board, and HW assignment. I would 100% recommend.
This class wouldn't suck so much if there wasn't a mandatory discussion board every week. He is a pretty chill prof and really does know his stuff but the only personal thing that seemed ridiculous for me was the discussion boards, which also accounted for 35% of your grade
Professor Kobari was very entertaining while still getting his point across and being very informational. He was very organized and had really good lectures that were very helpful for studying. There wasn't very much homework and only one research paper that was easy. He didn't take attendance but he asked questions from lectures for homework.
Really great teacher, I am actually sad to end this semester. He is such a passionate teacher and really loves what he is teaching. He wants his students to learn this information and even tries to make it light-hearted and funny. He is patient and caring towards his students and tries to help you save a little money, no textbook.
The class was so much fun and lectures were interesting! He always taught with so much energy and it kept me interested in the lecture! Would love to have again!
I took his course online and it was the best decision ever. He posts all the assignments at the beginning of the week and you choose when to do them. Every week there's a HW, Inquizitive, and Discussion and a research paper halfway through. Not bad at all just put in the work. Kobari is also helpful and answers emails pretty quick
I took Bio100 & this class, out of the two this one was by far so much easier. 3 exams, the first two are all quizlets, weekly HW quizzes are on quizlet, weekly discussion boards are easy as well, I never read the textbook just skimmed for the parts I needed to answer it, the other hw asngt you could always get 100%.
I took the online class. Not bad. You just need to read the ebooks and take some time to finish the homework, including InQuiztive, weekly discussion. Not hard, but you still have to take time studying for a great grade.
Great professor! The breakdown: weekly inquisitive assignments, discussion boards, homework questions and reading of chapter. It was not difficult and could be done in 2 hours. There are 2 exams including the final. Was a good online class.
This course was very simple. Every week you complete the homework, do an online activity, and a reading. I didn't spend more than an hour a week on his fully online course. It is very manageable and interesting--especially if you struggle with science.
I took Kobari's Anthro 101 online class. SUPER straight forward. The class is weighted in favor for you to get your desired grade. 35% of your grade is discussion boards so make sure to do well on those. Highly recommend for a easy GE or even a GPA booster
He is very clear in his expectations from the class. The assignments are not hard. Definitely take his online class, extremely easy A if you do the work!!!
the class was pretty easy. there are some midterms, weekly homework/questions on the reading & discussion board. I recommend taking notes on the questions from the homework bc he uses them on the midterms. oh and there is 1 research paper.
Super easy class! I ended up getting an A even though I missed one of the midterms. Emailed him about it and he was super understanding. As long as you keep up with the weekly hw which in reality isn't much, you'll be good to go. All answers to quizzes and tests are online!
Awesome teacher! Great feedback for the research paper, and an overall easy grader. You HAVE to be in class and take notes in order to pass the tests. Lecture-specific material on tests. Book helps a lot. Participation question on Blackboard almost every class. Overall easy to talk to and interesting to listen to.
Pretty easy class, only 3 midterms overall and one research paper. The exams are non-cumulative and he gives a study guide with the important stuff that will be on the tests. Not to mention there are extra credit which can make up a little more then a test grade. Definitely take him if you need the credit!
I didn't know how to feel about this class. His TAs were tough graders, so maybe it depends who the ta's are. Extremely vague about the research paper at the end and makes you write in AAA format which is super confusing. Overall, good professor but I didn't think this class was an EASY A. A little much for 101 in my opinion.
This class will save you so much time, you'll be glad you took this online class rather than a lecture. Weekly homework that can be searched up, along with short answer prompts that you have to put time into. There are 3 tests which are online and open book. Most difficult part is the research paper, use citationmachine for AAA format
Honestly the easiest class I've taken at SDSU. Every week you have an inquizitive, discussion, and homework assignment which has answers on quizlets. Make sure you take the online class because everything is on there. He's also super nice if you need help on something. Also there's a cumulative final and a research paper.
He is a chill guy that wants all of his students to succeed. His exams can be tricky, but he offers study guides and three extra credit opportunities that are helpful. Overall, it is a double hybrid class. I totally reccoment this class!
Class consisted of weekly HW on inquisitive, discussion posts (he drops your lowest one), and HW assignments on BB. There were 3 tests and one 5-9 page research paper that sounds like a lot of work when you first look at his rubric and outline for the paper, but it honestly wasn't that bad since he's such an easy grader. Take this class! super easy
He gives extra credit/free answers on exams; easy if you pay attention in class. Go to class for participation answers. You can get an A in this class if you actually pay attention and review notes before the test and do all extra credit (3 assignments offered). Sam was a great prof & kept class interesting. Hw only took about an hour each week.
First of all I dislike science a lot or anything related to it. That being said, Professor Kobari was amazing at teaching and making the subject interesting. The class had a lot to cover but he narrowed it down to a few specifics we had to do. He offers many opportunities for extra credit and you do not need to buy a book for the class.
Simple class: test, assignments, paper. Pretty easy if you study a bit, theres a lot of extra credit. Solid choice for a professor. Lags on answering emails, however.
I really liked Professor Kobari, his lectures were interesting and you can genuinely tell that he cares about his students and is super passionate about teaching. His tests are fairly easy, he posts thorough study guides that cover exam material. All other classwork assigned is easy. I would definitely take another class with him.
Passionate about what he teaches, making it easy for students to engage and learn. Clearly goes over material and tells you exactly what information you need and do not need to know for exams. Very helpful with assignments. Also gives out a lot of extra credit.
A very straight forward, easy GE class. Weekly Inquizitives, homework questions, writing prompts, and one research paper is what makes up the class. So as long as you do the work it should be an easy A.
Three online exams with answers that are easy to find in the allotted time. One research paper with an open prompt pertaining to anthropology. Weekly homework assignments, weekly short quizzes with infinite attempts possible, and weekly writing prompts that are relatively simple to complete. Overall it should not take up too much of your time.
Do the extra credit. Paper is easy just tedious. Was an ok prof, lectures were a bit unorganized for me. A lot of material you'll have to study. Is "generous" about not having to know dates, but you'll have to know basically everything else. Seemed impatient at times. Take it if you need to.
Easy class, take it online. You do an inquizitive, online HW assignment and a writing prompt every week on a new chapter. Sounds like a lot but they're actually really simple and you can find everything on quizlet. Kobari is also just a chill guy and wants everybody to pass his class.
Anth101 with Kobari is one of the easiest GE classes at SDSU. There is a lot of busy work; an inquisitive, writing prompt and blackboard quiz each week/each chapter, and a lengthy paper. The answers to the tests, quizzes and inquizitives can usually be found online. Kobari is nice, and wants everyone to pass.
The bulk of the grade was for the weekly writing prompts; as long as you complete those and get good grades on them you should be okay. InQuizitive and HW were for completion, and the research paper isn't that bad. Tests aren't really a big deal. He has solid lectures though.
Easiest online ever. All quizzes and exams are on quizlet. There is a writing prompt each week, homework, and inquizitive. 10/10 recommend taking, it is not too much work.
This is THE online class to take. It was pretty easy overall and you just had to be vigilant on completing your weekly homework. I read the textbook which took the most time but isn't that bad. Remember to use your resources when finding the answers *wink wink*. Great class, great professor, easy A. Boom.
If you want an online class and need to complete a GE for Life sciences, I recommend taking this class. It wasn't too difficult but you need to stay on top of the assignments because they are worth a lot of your grade. There's an essay due at the end of the semester that talks about research topic. It can frustrating to do if you wait last minute
This review is for the online course, not in person. If you can't be on top of your assignments every week you're not going to get an A in this class. The exam is only worth a small amount of your grade; the writing prompts and inquizitives are 65% of your grade. He does NOT offer extra credit. No late assignments allowed.
Super easy online. All of the homework and tests are online. The writing prompts are annoying to do, but not that hard. Big research paper due towards the end of the class. Only thing is he takes FOREVER to grade things.
Professor Kobari is a really great professor. I didn't do well at the start of semester which forced me to go to office hours, and he was really willing to help me succeed and pass his class. He offers a lot of extra credit so use it to your advantage. One of the better professors I've had so far, and really enjoys teaching his subject.
Super easy class and one of the easiest A's you could get. He assigns 1-2 weekly inquizitives, 1 weekly homework which is in quiz format, & 1 weekly writing prompt about 200 words.. The answers for everything is online and exams are easy. Kobari is very responsive & gives 1 research paper, follow prompt get an A on the essay
Super easy GE. Uploads a writing prompt, inquizitive, and homework once a week that is due at the start of the next week. Tests aren't a big deal. The only semi-difficult assignment is the research paper which isn't bad if you manage time well and start early. Overall a great class!
Kobari is an amazing professor. Go to lectures because he gives a bunch of hints as to what the questions on the exam will be. The lectures are also super interesting. If you do the extra credit and show up to class you can easily get an A.
Pros: Great lectures, easy A, exams only worth 10% of grade, able to get 100% on activities assigned, nice professor. Cons: A lot of weekly assignments, writing prompts are irritating, no extra credit offered.
Easy A. Weekly discussions or "essays" was the only part that required an ounce of work. Everything else can be found on quizlet/online. There's a research paper but he gives out As for the most part. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
The class was online, as were many of the tests and their answers. The homework is though connect so they weren't too difficult. There is one semi confusing research paper that I would suggest going and talking to him about
Professor Kobari is great! I actually learned a lot and enjoyed the course. The online txtbk was easy to digest and while the weekly workload was substantial, it wasn't difficult. The inquisitives took up a lot of time, but you learn a lot. I took this class over the summer for 6wks and would definitely recommend it for a GE
This is one of the easiest classes I've taken at state. 85% of the homework and exams are online. If you take the time to actually learn the material it is actually somewhat interesting. Would highly recommend this class.
Took the class credit/no credit to avoid having to do the research paper. Easy class, but god there is so much busy work. Had to spend more time doing dumb assignments in this class than my 500 level classes...
I took this class as an online class. His lectures are short, but are in no way helpful or informative. He gives a lot of homework, but it's pretty easy, just tedious. He's a tough grader who doesn't offer extra credit, accept late assignments, or even the chance to contest a grade. The research paper topic is super vague and open-ended.
Lots of busy work every week, but honestly you can find Quizlets if you really have to. Grading criteria isn't so clear, and the feedback given is vague (if there's any). You'll get a 20/25 and never know why, so you can't improve. But as long as you remain consistent on the weekly works, you should be okay. Research paper took forever to grade.
His weekly homework wasn't too bad, he gives very clear instructions. The 5-8 page essay half way through the semester was veryyyyy difficult for me because I'm not a science person and it was hard for me to wrap my head around the topic. But overall it's not hard to complete the weekly assignments (as long as you have google...).
Take this online! The assignments are so straight forward and structured. Only one research paper and a few noncumulative exams.
I recommend not to take this class online. He is very passionate about Anthropology (obviously) and he tries to make his lectures interesting. The hardest thing is the research paper, but he isn't a hard grader. I did my research paper the night it was due in which I received an A.
Each week's workload in Kobari's class consists of reading 1 chapter of the textbook, doing an Inquisitive, taking a test on the chapter, and doing one other small assignment that varies between weeks. There is one research paper assigned towards the middle of the semester that is 5-8 pages. Easy to succeed in this class.
Before taking this class I thought it would somewhat challenging since it was my first online class! But totally the opposite, this class is honestly the easiest, test is super easy and the homework as well! I would definitely take this class again !
Highly recommend this online class for your life science GE. There's a decent amount of busy work every week (adaptive reading activity, reading quiz, and either a discussion post or 1 page essay) but it is very easy. 3 exams which are open-book and a research paper, which I was unsure about but ended up getting 100.
DO THE WRITTING PROMPTS!!!! i made the mistake to not do two and my grade dropped a letter grade! im so dumb for that because its an easy a class!!! dont repeat my mistake!!!!!!! hes also really nice! i explained my covid situation and he let me turn in something late ! BUT DONT TRY AFTER PANDEMIC hes clear with no late work!!!!!
The class is honestly not hard, just tedious. DO THE WRITING PROMPTS. I missed 2-3 and that brought me down a whole letter grade. The worst thing about this class is the research paper, he wants it in AAA format and I've never heard of that before. Everything is on quizlet.
A lot of busy work and writing but it is an easy A for a GE class. 6 page research paper on an aspect of the class due as a midterm, and easy tests. Just stay on top of all the homework.
The best online class I've ever taken! Kobari provided a clear structure of what was required and encouraged using textbooks for the three exams. Every week, I knew what I needed to turn in and had clear instructions from Kobari himself.
Took him Fall of 2017. He gave quite a bit of extra credit and was very straight-forward. It was an interesting class and honestly as long as you study and do the work, you'll be fine. Easy A imo
Thought Forensic Anthro would be a fun & interesting GE but it doesn't translate well online. Majority of work is recognizing/memorizing 100+ bones based on real photos (tough to figure out sometimes b/c of angle). HW is overly difficult & subjective (Inconsistencies btwn lecture & textbook). Nice guy but not great at communicating & disorganized.
Overall I enjoyed this class but there is a ton of homework and it's all basically just busy work. Make sure you do the work and quiz assigned each week on time or else your grade will drop. Read the textbook!
I am taking Kobari all online during covid. Buy the book and thing directly from him It just ends up being cheaper and easier. You will be reading every single week. It can be a hard read at times I would utilize the highlighting options and such. Writing prompts are super important!!! But they are straightforward and answers in the book
(This is review is based on virtual learning) There is a writing prompt/meme, homework test, inquizitive, & question you make with a description+respond to two class mates due every week which is easy. But he gives this hefty, highly specific research paper that will make or break your grade because he takes off 10+% off everything you do wrong.
Quite a bit of homework but that was how we learned the material. Didn't really get to know the professor since we were online but he seemed pretty nice and understanding.
I took this class all online during Covid. Every week there are modules with homework tests, inquisitive, and either a discussion board or a writing prompt. There's also a research paper that's worth the most of your grade. The class is very manageable, just a lot of busy work but the instructions are clear and you know what to expect every week.
Professor Kobari is very understanding and caring to his students. This class is busy work because you are required alternate doing a writing prompt and a hunt & gather assignment. The InQuizitives are very helpful in regards to understanding the material. The exams are very straightforward, contains predominantly Multiple Choice and True/False.
The class is based off of the textbook so if you want to do well and understand the material you'll have to read a lot. It's structured well and his grading criteria is clear so you know what to expect every week. There's a lot of busy work and one major paper but it's really easy to follow along.
He has certain assignments called Packpack that are a waste of time and contribute nothing to learning. His exams are super difficult, and he expects you to memorize way too much for a class that can be taken from any major.
Kobari is a super chill guy. The class is fairly easy and the exam questions contain some homework questions for free points. The only downside is that there are assignments called Packbacks on a weekly basis where you have to ask a question relating to something in the class and respond to 2 of your classmates questions. Free points but annoying.
Really interesting course! It is a lot of busy work for a 101 class, but nothing that isn't doable. Take this class!!
For a 101 class this professor assigned WAY too much work. I literally had more work for this one class than I did in my last SIX 300-level classes combined. He assigns an 800-word paper every other week with a 9 page research paper due mid-semester that he only gave us a couple week's notice for. Also, expect to pay to access sources for the paper
It is a lot of busy work for a 101 class tbh. His class is based off of written responses, discussion questions, 13 quizzes, 3 exams, and 1 research paper. All of the quizzes and exams are on quizlet, including the final. Written responses vary from 600-800 words, and research paper is 1000-1200. Fairly easy but it takes time. Just stay on top all.
Kobari's class isn't necessarily hard, but it's a lot of work. You'll find that some weeks you have like 80 questions worth of homework from a few different assignments, and then on top of that he gives other assignments. So, there is a lot of homework so make sure to stay on top of it otherwise you'll be easily stressed.
Here's the rundown on what we have to do every week. Im currently taking his class in the Spring 2021 semester. I am not exaggerating Homework Quiz: usually around 30-50 questions Inquisitive: 40 questions Writing prompt(every other week): 800 word limit Hunt and Gather(alternates with writing prompt) Pack Back: question asking platform (stupid)
So much busy work, though he did send us a survey near the end of the semester to improve the course, so he'll ease up on that. InQuizitives are easy A's, no midterm or final (just 3 exams in total), and he allowed us to skip some assignments to help with online learning. Overall, he genuinely cares for his students and wants them to succeed.
Turned out to be my most time-consuming class. We had Inquizitives, quizzes, and Packbacks each week. Then we had an 800 word essay due every other week or a meme-making assignment on off weeks. Kobari was nice in dropping some assignments when we complained about the workload. But compared to Bio for Life Sciences, this class may be the way to go.
Great professor, super sweet, responds to emails pretty quickly. Lots of work, but it's easy and good graders. Definitely get the textbook for the work.
I ended up really enjoying this class. I didn't appreciate the amount of busywork, but lots of it ended up being fun and informative anyways. There's quite a bit of reading and writing involved, but he is a generous grader when it comes to the writing. There is a 5-8 page research paper at the end that is very loose and broad so it was pretty easy.
This class is relatively easy it's just a lot of work. The amount of weekly assignments can be extremely overwhelming but if you sit down and power through it you can finish in a day or two. The research paper isn't as difficult as I thought it would be but it can be hard to find time to do it between the other assignments. Time management is key
Professor Kobari is a very kind person. He responds quickly to any questions or concerns and clearly cares about his students. The class itself is relatively easy, but a lot of busywork that requires more time than most GE's. The workload consisted of multiple different types of weekly assignments, one research paper, and a couple of exams.
This class was definitely a lot of work. Packback was honestly a waste of time. I had to really read the material a couple of times in order to get a better understanding so I could pass the exams. The homework quizzes were somewhat ok. Overall he is an ok professor. Would I take him again? absolutely not.
Extremely easy. The only downside is that there are a lot of assignments, and most of them are busywork. You'll spend about 3-5 hours a week on this class.
You can easily earn an A, but get ready to stay on top of your work because Kobari does not go easy on the amount of weekly assignments he gives out. More homework and writing compared to a typical Gen Ed class.
There is a lot of work, around 3 assignments, a chapter to read, and lectures (it took me about 3-4 hours each week). But overall its pretty easy work but there is a 1200 word research paper that hits you a month before the final. Grading was easy and reasonable if you have good graders. There is a disconnect between professor and students though.
Professor Kobari does not teach at all. The class is heavy on a couple assignment which are assigned every week. Most information can be found online. The class was easy but demanding when assignments are due every Monday.
Quite literally one of the easiest GE classes you can take it consists of some easy busy work assignments as well as a few writing prompts which take no more than a couple hours and a research paper all graded super easily and overall just a joke of a class. Learned nothing from it but got a free A
Highly recommend, very minimal effort is needed to pass this class. Everything is online, from assignments to tests. Every other week you do have to do 800 word writing prompts but as long as you try you will get 100 on it.
Inquisitve, Writing prompt or Hunt and Gather, Packback each week. There's also a research paper which is worth a good portion of your grade but mine was only 4 pages and I got a 95% after working on it for only 3 hours. You do have to read the textbook for some assignments but, very easy class. Highly recommend if you need credits in this area!!!
solid choice for your GE! You won't be mad doing his work, just get it done before the deadlines and put good effort and you will be fine! Def recommend.
Got into the class late, but it is pretty easy and it was an online class. He is nice and lectures and we discussed but thats it. The grades consisted of a couple test, a couple essays, and attendance and participation. Always went to class, but never payed attention and passed.
Seems like a nice guy but damn does this class have a lot of busywork. You can easily spend up to 6 hours on this class depending on how heavy the course material is that week. Interesting content but is a lot more demanding than I would expect for the level it's supposed to be.
this class is really easy, but it's a LOT of work for a GE. we have to do 3 assignments each week as well as reading. it doesn't seem like that much at first, but it gets very tedious to do the same things. each week there's a reading, writing prompt OR small discussion, inquizitive, and packback (basically another discussion). research paper too
Took this class because I was interested in anthro. I really liked the information I learned but there was always so much work to do for a GE. You will be doing writing prompts every other week and tons of discussion posts and tedious tasks. He also does not tolerate late work. Great guy just way more work than I expected. Read the textbook
This class was super easy, I disagree with the comments that it was too much for a GE. Got a 99.8 in the class while taking a lot of units and barely put in effort. Packbacks are easy, just write enough so it says 70-100. Writing prompts aren't bad and only 2 a month. Google is your friend.
Super great guy, but pretty time consuming class. Expect an Inquizitive (reminiscent of IXL) and an AI-graded discussion assignment every week, with an 800 word writing assignment every other week. Tests are super easy, and he does drop quite a few assignments which is nice. 1200-2000 word research paper with strict source requirements.
Although it was an Online course he was always there if you needed extra help. The course involves a lot of reading, however, the quizzes and homework are on quizlet. The papers that are due every other week take some time, otherwise the course was really easy. He makes you submit memes for credit!! :)
Lots of discussion posts and weekly homework took a lot of time.
There are a lot of weekly online assignments you'll need to complete in this class. It's possible to get an A in this class if you put in the work!
This guy is doing too much. Each week you have an 800-word writing assignment, homework (minimum 30/40 questions), and a discussion post + 2 responses that need to be a "mini-essay" of around 400 words. He also has you use 3 different portals that are each a separate fee. Overall this class is interesting but way more trouble than it's worth.
This class is incredibly easy. You probably have to spend about 1-2 hours each week on assignments. I would say I put little effort in this class and got a 99%. Exams are multiple choice and very straight forward. Research paper is a topic of your choosing. Textbook assignments are easy but also very helpful for learning the material.
The class does require a bit of effort (800 word writing prompts/creating a meme, Packback question, and Inquizitive every week and a research paper) but it's really not that bad. Literally got 100 on every writing prompt/the research paper with minimal effort. Lectures aren't worth watching. Overall, I'd recommend this class.
DO THE WRITING PROMPTS. they're 30% of your overall grade. Exams are super easy but only 9%. Super easy class overall. There were 3 assignments weekly due mondays.
A lot of busy work but it's easy. Definitely take this class for GEs. 3 exams, 1 research essay, and weekly assignments. Once again it's all easy and doable, it's just a lot of busy work
Professor Kobari was super easy to communicate with. One of the easiest classes I've taken. Three assignments due every Monday which is doable, exams are easy and one research paper. Overall, don't hesitate to take the courses he is available for.
Easy class and very manageable, especially if you take it online. The work is straightforward and easy to do.
This is an online class so it's not difficult, however there are a lottt of busywork assignments that take a good amount of time to complete. Everything is graded by a TA and as long as you put in some effort, you'll get an A.
Super friendly and wants students to succeed. The class is a very easy A but there is a lot of busy work with an inquisitive, packback, and discussion board or essay each week.
Easiest science GE ever. Inquizitive, Packback, and one other assignment each week. Exams are online and aren't worth a large percentage of your grade. One research paper but it's not a big deal. Take this class!
Class was pretty easy, just have to do weekly assignments which you should read a chapter each week since it's all online. The writing prompts take a lot of time and they're 30% of your grade (only every other week tho). There's a final research paper but just do it once it's assigned. Works with you for extensions and drops some work at the end.
Online class that's super easy! Professor is nice, cares about the subject, and lectures are essentially optional (reading is required though). Everything in this class is on quizlet aside from the paper at the end of the semester. Hunt and Gather assignment every other week where you make a meme about the chapter, would 100% recommend this class!!
Very understanding and passionate about what he teaches. Gives plenty of time to complete 3 weekly assignments. Do the textbook readings and the hw and you will get an A, tests are very easy. There is a research paper at the end of the semester but you are given plenty of time and support for it.
The class is indeed very easy but the prepare to do A LOT of assignments. You have to do the Inquizitive, Packback, and either create a meme (?) or do a 800-word writing prompt every week. In addition, you have 3 exams and 1 research paper. It's a lot, it feels that it will never end. But it's an easy A if you do everything.J
Fully online, no zooms or anything. Super easy and minimal work. All assignments are due Monday at midnight, and you can definitely do them a few hours before they're due. All of the inquizative and test answers are on quizlet, and the packback is super easy. Hardest part is the writing prompts but they're graded super easily.
Anth 101 with professor Kobari is extremely easy if you do the assignments. The class is asynchronous online which makes it easy to work in your schedule. There is about 3-4 assignments per week that would maybe take around 2-4 hours to complete in total. There is also a research paper that takes some time to write but is graded extremely easily.
In all honesty, he isn't a bad professor nor is he a bad person overall. However, he assigns A LOT of busy work, which is fair as it is an online only class (no meetings at all). I would recommend taking this course if you're a freshman or sophomore working on lower division classes but steer clear if you're taking upper divisions.
One of the most interesting honors classes I have ever taken is Prof. Kobari's class. One homework assignment every week which consists of reading a textbook and writing your opinions on it. Then class is just discussing the reading. He makes me feel comfortable enough to speak up in class and is very inspiring. Would recommend 100%
LOVE LOVE LOVE Easiest GE class evaaa Take him! The hardest part was just the amount of assignments due every week, but they are EXTREMELY easy and doable. I recommend if you want an easy manageable class for your busy schedule:)
This class is completely online including the tests but there is a lot of homework. There can around 6 or 7 assignments per week that include lectures with embedded questions, writing prompts and 3 discussion posts. The class is relatively busy but there is so much homework it feels like busy work and like I didn't even learn anything.
Lots of homework, if you are a busy student, might want to reconsider taking this class. Unless you can time manage well and don't have that many other courses at the same time. Expect 5-7 assignments due every Monday. Assignments usually include multiple lectures you have to watch/answer questions at the same time, inquizatives and discussions.
quizlet for everything
TAKE HIM for an easy A! Proffesor Kobari's online course is very organized and easy to follow. Expect to spend 2-3 hours a week on many online assignments including quick lectures, Inquistives (use quizlet), Packpack's (use textbook), and Hunt and Gather (discussion posts) or 1 1/2 page writing prompts (worth most of grade). 3 exams (use quizlet!)
Took him online for winter intersession very good teacher who gives solid feedback on your prompts and research paper , 100% take him if you want to learn about anthro
One of my favorite classes. Prof Kobari was super accessible all the time (granted, this was an online course). There is a lot of work, but it can all be done very quickly. Drops quite a few grades too, but honestly you probably won't need them. He made it interesting and I was not expecting to enjoy the class as much as I did.
Kobari is an easygoing professor and only gives 4 assignments a week to complete which are fairly easy. You have to complete one paper that does not take up too much time and you get to use AI.
Sam Kobari is a king, he is very caring and very easy to understand. Do the homework, do the inquizitive, take notes. He will not assign too much work if you know how to schedule your own work, and I LOVED learning about anthropology :) Thanks!!!
Super easy class, but the professor is very mid. Take it though, it is a very easy A.
Very easy class. It's an online class, so just make sure you know your schedule and get the assignments done. Super easy grading and assignments, just beware of research paper at the end of the semester (not hard just time-consuming). The professor is caring and lectures are generally short and funny.
great teacher. although it was online, i could tell he was passionate about what he taught. there are lectures you have to watch, but they're like 5-10 minutes per video, with 1-2 videos a week. there is weekly homework, but it's very easy and repetitive, so you get into a good rhythm. he drops a LOT of assignments, so anyone can get an A.
What kind of professor does not make a 92.5-93 an A? WTF. Do not take.
Really easy online GE. Module is due every week, but he drops a couple of the lowest assignments. Easy A just do the packback, inquisitive, and meme/writing prompt. His lectures are really easy too. You don't really have to read the textbook because of how easy the class is!
What to expect if taking in summer: If taking with other classes: say BYE to Friday's off, sometimes even weekends Get ready to write Get ready to make memes (you read that right) Get ready to pull your hair off b/c you're tired of all the busy work Do it all b/c it's better than doing it in a normal semester imo, easier to cheese Breaks take them
A lot of busy work - takes about 3 hours to get a week's work done if you lock in. Most of it is interesting, and the class structure is easy as long as you complete assignments, but it is a lot especially for a 100-level GE. Check the grading scale to see what he drops because you get some free passes.
Professor Kobari's ANTH101 is a great online GE course. The assignments are manageable, and he drops the lowest ones, making it easy to get an A. Lectures are concise, and Unstuckstudy AI proved helpful for study prep alongside the textbook. Overall, a solid class.
There is weekly work to do, but it's the exact same model for every week and once you get used to it it's a very easy workload. Also, the TA that I had was a very easy grade. Very good class for GEs at SDSU!
This class was super easy and his video lectures were pretty interesting. Would definitely take again!
DO NOT STACK THIS CLASS WITH OTHER TIME CONSUMING CLASSES. Other than that, the class is very easy and probably the best option available to knock the GE requirement. I didn't like that he gives so much homework (most of which he doesn't need to grade because its done automatic) and yet he hasn't graded a single thing for me this entire semester.
There is weekly work to do and it can be semi time consuming but it's the exact same every week. So once you get used to it it's pretty easy. It's a great GE course and the assignments are manageable. Most time consuming project is the research essay but he gives plenty of time to do it and ai to assist write an outline.
This class is not too bad material-wise. However, I highly advise against taking it with other time-consuming classes. There is WAY TOO MUCH WORK for an online GE credit.
Great GE class to take, it is greatly paced and as long as you stay on top of it you will be fine. He is really kind and I'm glad I took this class, highly recommend
Kobari is a good professor and his class is paced well for being online. Good class to take if you need to fill a GE requirement. However, he does assign a lot of busy work. You get enough time to do it but it is a bunch of tasks every week that can get tedious. He is so funny. Im glad the lectures are graded so I was forced to watch them lol.
Professor Kobari is really nice and funny guy. This class is extremely homework-heavy, but it's mostly easy work. The tests are somewhat easy and related to the InQuizitive. But, I have beef with the textbook and PackBack.
He's a nice and passionate professor who isn't too difficult, just gives lots of homework. It's not necessarily too hard, just very time consuming. Should receive an A as long as you complete the work and do well on exams.
Easy but lots of weekly work. Textbook reading(not graded), Lecture videos w/ questions (they're short), Packback (AI graded questions about each chapter, very annoying.), Inquizitive (HW questions), Writing Prompt (Can be time consuming). And then 3 exams spread throughout and a final AI assisted paper. Don't take with a busy schedule.
You do lots of the same thing each week but it isn't hard. I had difficulties getting into contact with him. My mother was in the hospital for 5 days and at the same time I had the stomach flu when a paper was due. I asked for an extension and he responded that I could have one a day AFTER the paper was due.
Way too much (irrelevant) work for a GE. This class consists solely of busy work that will take most of your week to complete. The second you've finally finished his 5+ weekly assignments, you're bombarded with more for the next week. This course has taken up all of my free time and I'm writing this so you don't make the same mistake.
WHATEVER YOU DO DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. This course should not even be offered. No class needs to have this many assignments, and he seems to enjoy when students fail. Wouldnt excuse me from even 1 out of 8 assignments for the week when my grandma died and I had to fly across the country immediately. The board really needs to evaluate this course.
One of the easier classes that I have taken. There are a solid amount of assignments but take about 2 hours to complete all of them if you're actually working.
It IS easy but it's honestly an insane amount of busy work that once you finish, you might as well get started on the next weeks work. You can speedrun the lectures on 2x speed at least.
It's definitely an easy class, but there is just a LOT of busy work. The Inquizitives take forever to do. But you can for sure get an A in the class if you do the work and put in some effort.
There are a few weekly assignments, but they are pretty easy. He grades well and drops a lot of assignments at the end of the class.
Online class, but had SO MUCH busy work. Lowkey a lot of work due every week on monday night. Much more work than any of my other classes, even in person ones. He was a chill prof. though and seems very understandable.
Due to it being an online course, it is very homework/reading heavy but if you get the readings done then the rest should be easy. Typically 4-5 assignments a week, but if you place them out you can easily do them but it does get overwhelming so it's easy to fall behind. At the end, he drops about 8 assignments, and the exams are so easy
Online class and is a lot of work, but if you put in the time and work, you will get something out of it. Is also a very easy class to slide by, get assignments done easily, and get an A. This class is where, if you want to learn you can but you will get an A no matter what.
Overall, this class was an easy A if you do the work on time. It is basically all busy work, but all of it is straight forward and easy, you just have to turn it in on time. It was a routine for the work, never anything new, every week it had the same assignments but different chapter.
A great teacher with a passion for his students and studies. Very understanding and accessible outside of class. Lots of busy work but easy grader
Probably one of the easiest life sciences courses you can take at this school. Homework is very doable, and all of the assignments are graded very leniently. If you have a chance to take this class, go for it.
well organized online class. expectations are clear and are outlined on the syllabus. there are a few assignments for each weekly module and they can be time consuming, but are ultimately quite easy to do. there are three exams and one project, but the grading scale is pretty balanced. also, his lectures are concise but informative and funny!
Honestly I'm not sure if there's a better option for a life science credit, but if there is, take it. Sure this class is objectively "easy" but you spend SO much of your time doing tedious online assignments, whether it be inquizzitive (which I probably spent like 2 hours on before I realized you could just use the quizlet), or writing assignments.
He was the best!! Each week consisted of lecture videos, an inquisitive task, and a Hunt and Gather or Writing Prompt. Although the inquisitive's took a long time, they are very doable. Each Hunt and Gather was easy, and the Writing prompts were probably the hardest. Start the Writing Prompts ahead of time because they are time-consuming.
This class is generally really easy. It's a lot of busy work, but it's all pretty easy. The papers are graded very leniently and he drops a lot of assignments at the end of the semester. As long as you stay on top of all the assignments per week you will be fine.
Prof Kobari was a great prof and very knowledgeable about anthro! There was lots of work each week, having 1-3 short lecture videos, 1 Inquizitive, 1 Packback assignment, and either a writing prompt or a hunt & gather, easy but time consuming. Good class if you want to learn about anthro but maybe skip if u just need a requirement fulfilled
Cool class. 3-5 assignments per week, including lecture video quizzes, writing prompts, packbacks, "hunt and gather" meme creations, etc. Not difficult, but tedious. You can find info on quizlet easily. 3 exams for the semester. I think there was 1 essay. Gives good feedback, and very passionate about subject. I recommend, but homework is a lot.
I took this course online and honestly have nothing to complain about, if you want to really retain the material then read the textbook and watch the recorded lectures but you don't have to do both. The most time consuming part was the packback it takes a lot of time but the professor responds to emails fast and is enthuisiastic about the subject.
Took online ANTH101 but he seemed dedicated regardless. He clearly is very interested in the subject and though there's quite a bit of homework he gives you a decent amount of time to do it. Homework is definitely helpful not just pointless. Clear he likes teaching the subject as well. Interesting class but LOTS of textbook reading.
Do NOT take this class, it will have you doing so much research on your own and doing a lot of really annoying assignments like the Inquizitive ones.
The class was very organized and easy to follow. Everything was clearly laid out online, and assignments were always due Monday at 11:59 PM, which made scheduling pretty simple. There's a decent amount of busy work. Overall, it's a great class to take if you're looking for an easy A
LOTS of busy work, easy to understand, but hard not to procrastinate. 1 choice project, 3 open note/book exams. I dislike science but this was doable and sometimes interesting. Gives all work for week on mondays, and due following Monday, no exceptions. Seemed friendly. Start work early, take good notes for guaranteed A even for non-STEM people.
Not a lot of challenging homework is standard for a class. He is really nice and accommodating if you reach out to him and he is overall just a chill teacher and the class is pretty chill as well honestly easy A if you do all the assignments
busy work busy work busy work! Get ready to spend 10 hours of your life each week doing busy work. Probably about 70% of the assignments are related to the content. The professor is chill but strict on deadlines. Also uses AI to create some assignments and forces students to use generative AI.
Such a sweet and nice teacher. Good amount of work per week (mind you it is an online class). A couple of lecture videos, an inquisitive assignment, Packback, reading, and writing prompt. Overall, this is a great GE, just don't procrastinate. 3 exams and a major project (essay or presentation). Grading on writing is iffy; feedback could be better.
very good teacher
A lot of work for a GE, but its all easy. Mostly busy work. Take this for GE for sure.
A chill GE class that is interesting if you like anthropology. There isn't a crazy amount of work each week but can get annoying if you procrastinate. Overall chill class.
Great online class! Inputting possible grades if you miss an assignment doesn't work well. Doing the assignments every week is your best bet. Otherwise, the class is manageable and at times very interesting!
Professor Kobari is a funny guy, but he may come off as passive-aggressive at times; overall, chill. The workload is more than your regular GE, but it is manageable. If you choose to skip most readings, you'll still learn quite a few things, which is neat. You don't get to interact with him much, but he has office hours if needed.
Weekly assignments were kind of tedious, but I'd recommend sitting down to do it all in one go, and it should take 3-4 hours. He is definitely passionate and humorous, but we had to use ai for multiple assignments. Besides that, I thoroughly enjoyed all that I learned in this class.
