His classes are pretty boring. He's been all over the world and knows tones of stuff but he's not a good teacher. He speaks very quietly so even the mic doesn't always help. You'll have to read the book, no point of coming to class.

I must say that the bad comments that came through are really unnepreciated.He is a great prof.He makes sure u understand before moving on,and trully cares to make u a better student.If he wouldn't he would not have such a good marking scheme.Toughen up,slap yourself,and get downt to work,then talk.

He isnt soo bad, just do the study guide questions and ull b ready for the midterm, or the exam, and i love his breakdown of marks, its unusually good. But dont take it if u dont have an intrest, or atleast more then little understanding of what economics is, take care everyone, peace

He's a great teacher. I had him for microeconomics & I'm glad I was able to get him for macroeconomics. His stories about his journeys & experiences are always entertaining and they add some fun to the class. He's very generous when it comes to grading. I hope he's teaching more of my classes.

i love this guy, he's a great person, like hes there if you need any thing and hes always trying to help as much as he can. but he does have one problem, his teaching style a very boring. but im still gonna show-up to all of his classes.

I like him. However, I found it extremely difficult to stay focused on the point he was trying to make before going off into 'story' Dont get me wrong, they are good stories but he brings them up in the middle of a discussion and then when hes done, you kind of forget what initially the point was.

this professor is a very nice person, at some point he's too nice that he let students talk very loud in class, it's very interrupting the others to concentrate, and also, i hope he can teach straight to the point, but not telling us news and stories, i prefer a more straight-forward teach method =)

He's an alright teacher, but i hate how he side tracks and tells us whats goin on in the world today, alot of ppl took the class b/c we had too. He should stick more to course material, and try to make it alittle more interesting.

One of my favorite Prof's in my university experience so far. He covers course material well and explains all the important stuff you need to know for the exam. I enjoy his class because he always has interesting stories about world events that relate to economics and other topics.

The nicesest person and prof in York! He will help you if you have questions no matter what!!! However, the lecture style is a little bit boring, but taking into concideration this prof's personality and his attempts to help his students, this is the best prof in the school!

I do like the way Dr. Lanfranco teaches, the reasons why he tells students what stories around the world and gives us an updated news because we are not ONLY sitting there for a credit whereas we are here to LEARN. Dr. Lanfranco is someone who cares ECONOMICS and he is very prof.

What I really like about this Prof if that if you do well in the final that is your final mark. He will coombine your marks to give you the highest possible mark. I respect that. He does not teach gearing towards the exam but to give you practical examples of economics in todays world.

Boring lecture. Lectures were not organized. When asked details about material covered, he can never give a straight answer. Seems like he didn't quite understand economics theories but he tries to show how good/smart he is through his "stories". May get good marks from him but will suffer when goes on to higher level courses.

Learn NOTHING from him even though I received a very good grade. This is due to his grading scheme. Looking for easy marks, go for him. However, if you want to learn something about economics, then enrol in another section. He can't teach!!!

Always telling stories that are irrelevant to the course. Boring lecture. Very easy grading. Did he teach enough to prepare me for the next course even though I got an A+ from his class? My answer is no. I have to do lots of reading during Christmas to prepare for the next course. Will never take his course again.

Easy prof to get high grade. Lectures more or less useless (he spent too much time on stories rather than actually teaching econ). Even though I got a good grade from him, I will say not to take his course because he didn't prepare me for the next course at all.

Bad teacher but easy grading => lots of students like to take his class. For learning purpose, lecure is useless. Has the "I am great and I know all" type of attitude. I will rate him a one of the worst teacher in Econ (simply in teaching) and one of the best in getting high grades in Econ.

don't know why people are suggesting that he gives easy tests, the class average is C. professor kong's class, he tested us only on graphics, calculations. professor lanfranco tests us on concepts so I couldn't just study the mathy part and be tempted to skip the readings

I thought he was absolutely amazing when it was about answering emails, office hours and so on. He really helped me when I had doubts. I don't think he is arrogant, I think he's smart and friendly, you just have to talk to him properly. Did not think it was easy marks either, it was ok, you had to do studying to do well.

Very helpful and friendly professor. He is prompt at responding to emails and does his best to help you understand the material. He is not an easy grader, but rewards those who work hard.

Why dont you have a open mind? Economics is not one of the most interesting subjects to teach but you have to give a little boost if he tries. The stories are suppose to paint a clearer picture! HELLO! Thats the only part of the class were ppl show interest. Just read the book and go to class becuz some stuff you just cant get on ur own!

His grading scheme is so beneficial..!! he's extremely boring and goes on about stories and more stories and more stories and you just don't get the point of the lecture. Read the book, read the slides, do the sample midterm/final (he picks questions from there), go through the guideline thoroughly and you're set :)

GREAT PROF. He was so.....helpful. He wasn't simply reading us the slides or reading us the textbook, so READ THE TEXTBOOK, but he applied the material. I had him from 7-10 at night and his voice was interesting to listen to. although EVER class is not necessary, go to EVERY class in the second half of the semester!

He was okay, dont go to lectures. Read the text, practice with the study guide and sample exams, and you'll be fine. Lectures were a waste- had no point and were dragged on. Overall, not bad, wouldn't mind taking another class with him IF HE HAD LYRYX for the easy 10%! HA!

He talked a lot about experiences in his lecture. The notes and the text are much better to study with rather than going to his classes. I did really bad although he was lenient with his grading schemes in both exams and lyryx.

Even though he gave a couple of 'A's in his class, I clearly acknowledge him as one of the lazieset proff on earth. Took like one month for him to give us our grades back...I couldn't apply for any internship opportunity with my transcripts saying 'NGR' besides ECON. I would recommend never to take this proff if possible...cannot handle situations

Easy class but also boring. He talks lots about his story and nothing about main points for exams. If you have some economic background and want to listen to real economic story rather than learning, he might be good for you.

The prof was extremely helpful and offered real world examples to help solidify concepts. He would always go out of his way to help any student, before or after the lecture. In fact he even stayed back 1 hour explaining things for me. His exams are easy because he helps you to prepare for them and to understand the concepts. A++ for everything!

one of the best profs ive had at york.....gives real life examples...very knowledgable about a lot of things.....very easy to talk to. doesnt mind going over subject matter a couple of times...lectures though were a bit long....study the book and his lecture notes and youll do fine

The best lessons from this prof happened if you asked him something after class, or during office times. He has a lifetime of experience, and put great clarity behind relevant current economic issues. His official lectures require that you read the material before class though, or you will get lost. He's retiring, and will be missed.

EXCELLENT - One of the BEST professors at York University. Genuinely cares about the success of his students. Other York University Professors should sit in on his lectures and they would learn how a real professor goes about his business. Strongly advise taking any economics class with Professor Lanfranco

This prof seems like a nice guy but he is EXTREMELY boring. Lectures are pointless, he kinda repeats the textbook and really doesn't explain things. If you study the textbook really well you will do amazing. BUT there is about 13-14 chapters on the final exam so it really is a lot of info to take in

Lectures were pointless as he reiterated material from the textbook with minor changes. He cares a lot about his students and he bellcurves. My suggestion is: study from the textbook if you are comfortable learning on your own, and use the study guide. Final exam was fair and a number of the questions were on the sample exam and study guide.

Prof/SL has told me on multiple times he hates the textbook used to teach the course. His life stories are far more interesting that the econ1000 material. He genuinely cares for us to succeed or at the very least, pass the course. The office hours I had with him were more insightful than the dry lectures. Really cool professor overall though!!

He is a very sweet and caring professor. He wants everyone to pass and will go above and beyond to help you get the mark you need. Economics is a very dry subject, so of course lectures may be boring. He tries to make them interesting by bringing in stories to wake people up again and engage the class. Exam and midterm are fair. Follow his review.

Good Prof, the first bit of his lecture will usually deal with various economic issues around the world which is quite interesting...Read the text, do the study guide and you'll be fine.

Great Professor! Some people say that he talks a lot about his real life. Here I want to ask those who think that his stories are unnecessary: what's point if you just study concept? If you really want to major in business, you should understand the logics of economy through examples, not just concept!!!

Lanfranco is a very lax professor. He wants students to succeed. I did not feel it was necessary to attend the lectures. I just read the book and e-mailed him with any questions. He is VERY clear about what will be and what will not be on exams. I would definitely take the course with him again.

He is very boring, and there is also no point in going to class. You only had to show up 2 times during the year: midterm and final. The midterm was easy and final was harder. He gives all multiple choice, usually 40 midterm, and 100 final. No quizzes, which I liked.

I would say he is a very boring prof & is always mumbling so its hard to understand like he's talking to himself. But you dont need to attend class just do the readings and he's a VERY EASY PROF, exams are easy so it's an easy A. His class avg. are low but it's because he can't teach, but asses easily. If you have prev. econ exp. than take this!

A great prof.Lectures not necessary;he stated in the 1st class his sensitivity towards busy students who cannot make 7-10pm class/all he will teach is in the textbook.After the 1st test, the lectures were very close to empty(~20 students,capacity~200).He is the most understanding prof ever,and truly cares for students.Bellcurved hardcore.Easy A/A+.

Amazing teacher with global economic experience.Take this class only if you plan to attend it. He teaches so much stuff that's not in the book, and even corrects content from the book. He's not braindead. He's able to undermine content from the book. If you're complaining that he doesn't focus on the book, you clearly didn't come to class.Loved it.

Great Professor. Follow the practice samples he is giving before the midterm or final and it is very possible to get an A+. You can also attend econman1 tutorials which helped a lot to organize the information.
