He really tries to do a good job teaching, though it's a bit hard for some students to grasp economics concepts. He loves economics and brings up interesting points that arent typical to an average economics course. He's a young teacher with whom you can joke around with and what not, which makes him personable to students.

If you're taking this class as a GE, don't. Dr. Liu is an amazing teacher and person! He always wanted to help you, even in life. You don't really need to attend to pass, the textbook is just as useful as his teaching, however his lectures tend to be informative and funny. Also there is a good amount of homework (2-3hrs/wk), but it's easy and fun.

Only take this class if you're an econ major. if you are taking this class for credits find a different teacher, sam makes the class way too difficult for no reason at all and creates most of the test material out of thin air of his own interpretations. Couldn't find majority of the test material in the textbook. Very deceptive, don't take!

Liu was the best professor I've had at West Valley. Take him if you'r interested in actually learning Econ, you take your academics seriously, you like when professors actually apply subject to the real world. Don't take if you have poor study habits, expect babying.

Liu was an excellent professor who was clear and helpful, by far the best teacher I've had. Exams aren't that bad, just do the practice exams and study guides, same questions on real exam. Take advantage of any extra credit he may offer. Put in the effort to understand and you will pass. He is great at what he does.

Really smart professor, one of my favorites so far at WV. He can be funny at times which makes class less boring. The opportunity to learn about money can change your personal and financial life. If you follow the advice from class, you can become comfortably well off. Follow class rules, he respects you if you respect him.

Don't take him in the summer; I tried and withdrew. But, if you take him during a full-term (I took 2 of his classes), you'll have a great time. He'll teach you so much and truly push you. He HAS expectations for you; but they are clear and if you put in the work, you WILL see the results. He makes his class an incredibly rewarding experience.

One of the best Professors at West Valley. As MANY of these students have said, do not take this as a winter class. You will be completely thrown off guard when you have a midterm 7 days in. The workload is intense and will make you want to pull your hair out if you put it off. If you don't know how to study and manage your time, look elsewhere!

Dr. Liu might be a funny teacher, but the homework is too hard. It's 30% of your grade and it's SO DIFFERENT than the lecture. He didn't help me or my friends at all in office hours. We all dropped the class because he's so unbearable when it comes to helping us or interacting with us. Only take him if you're an econ major. Not worth it otherwise

I'm usually an As and Bs student, and let me say I was legitimately relieved to finish this class with a high C. I spent every day of the week working on something for his class, read all the chapters and watched all the lectures. I scored As on all the Cengage online homework assignments. I got a 77% on the final--the mean class grade was a 59%.

Do not take his classes for short term AND if you work. He sounds like he is a good teacher BUT he makes it unnecessarily hard & scares you. I'd constantly receive long emails in which he kept threatening to a point that made me drop the class soon & got my first ever W. Especially 'cause I work full-time & already go through enough stress.

Do not take this professor for an online course. I should have listened to the threatening emails he sent advising us to drop his class and take it in person with someone else as his in person class(es) were full. You will not get feedback, grading is not transparent, decade old videos of class recordings are the worst I've ever had. AVOID Dr. Liu!

It is difficult. Make sure to read the textbook and watch the lectures. I would suggest taking any other professor because most likely they will be easier. Nice and wholesome guy, though, and wants you to succeed financially. 1 midterm (15%). 1 final (35%). Homework (45%). Discussion (5%). $100 textbook.

Personally, the lecture videos were a huge help because he genuinely knows economics and can explain it interestingly. Lectures are truly the most important part of the course because he makes learning econ easy. 10 page min. term paper as an honors course.

Took Econ with no previous experience and the course was very easy. Did it online Asnych and as long as you stay on top of homework and did it the day it was assigned, the course is extremely easy. Use your resources wisely, and definitely take in the Winter session. In-person course seems a lot more challenging though. Very nice+easy to reach.
