DON'T DO IT. Worse class I ever took. Worse teacher. Boring as heck! Save your money, spare yourself the headaches. Trust me.
His classes are very boring
So boring don't take the class. He assigns a chapter and then lectures with a power point in class; then you repeat it over again. Studing won't do any good. You can't even follow what he is teaching because you fall asleep.
Boring class and test are difficult, although he is an intelligent man his teaching style is to the benfit of none
This is the best class. He lectures and u take a few tests. Everyone that is dumb does bad, if u take the the time to study and your not a moran your fine.
I took the class and got an "A". The class is still VERY boring. I would hardly consider it the best class I've ever taken.
Terrible teacher, extremely boring class. Tests are impossible. Class average on the first two tests were not higher than a 70, both scaled 10+ points. DO NOT TAKE THIS GUY!!!
really boring classes, really hard tests, but his grading system is cool because your entire grade is scaled up.
Just plain bad.
Had this instructor back around 1982. Very hard, boring, and could not figure out what he was trying to teach! I cannot believe he is still there.
By far the worse professor in the MBA program. I made an AB in the class. He does not make himself available. He portrays a horrible attitude in class. Most students I've talked with feel the same way. Take another professor for economics!
THE WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER TAKEN. This guy is so horrible it's unbelievable. Incredibly boring and uses outdated materials to teach the class. I think he wrote his lesson plan in 1982 and is still using it.
Poor communication skills. Just wants the paycheck. Doesn't worry about trying to help students. One of the worst professors Bryant.
Great Prof. Only take him if you enjoy econ. little boring maybe. and eco development is awsome class.
Had him for Health Care Economics in Grad school, he is so confusing and seems like even he is bored to be there teaching and listening to himself. He assigns way too much reading on top of a project and weekly discussions, all of which don't relate.
The jack kerouac of econ teachers. Stream of consciousness of unrelated items leaves you wondering where your $1400 dollars went. I believe I now no less than when I started and I didn't think that was possible. It's a good class if you have no choice
Remember The Wonder Years and Ben Stein as the science teacher? I wonder if Ben took classes from this guy on how to be so... *YAWN*
Hi, Sam is amazing, his communication skills witht he students is just terriffic....definitely the best professor at Bryant
omg. whoever said he communicates well did NOT know what they were talking about. you can barely understand what he is saying and he uses the wrong words to say what he means. not recommended.
Sam is a great teacher. He cracks jokes all class. And you get to watch a movie every thursday, with David Schumacher and Richard Gill. Its very informative, and the class isnt that hard.
he does not teach you what is on the exams, he expects you to read the chapters and teach yourself, nothing he tells you in class pertains to the test, but nonetheless, his videos he makes us watch can help your grade trememdously, plus he gives lots of extra credit.Horrible communication skills.
class isn't hard if you read the book. videos on thursdays are boring but can help the grade
Dont go to class becuase the notes arent used on the exam...in class essays are easy and raise your grade and he always curves exams. not bad for a micro teacher.

The MIRM's is cool I don't care what anyone else says.
Great guy. Easy as hell.
I would throw myself in front of a bus to save Sam Mirmirani. Genius. Nothing else to say.
Teaching objectives not defined. Write a report(in teams) on a video each week (12). 1 or 2 reports will be graded. The rest get full pts. Wont tell you what 2 study for midterm/final. Mostly come from the text but doesnt teach from it. Doesnt answer email. He's hard because tests and expectations are random, vague and unclear. avoid.
He is old school. Dont fear him even though you will be scared. His style is tough. He is smarter than most, and not interactive.
Boring as all hell. Though better than Sweeney. Only take this class if you have to.

he is the worst teacher ever with the most ineffective teaching methods.. just lets you sit there and copy off overhead.. for 2 hours.. then last hour of class is on a video in which you have to write ATLEAST 2 pages, then answer questions he gives you. do not take this class unless you enjoy teaching yourself!!!
he suuuucks
He is a terrible teacher. You sit and read notes off the overhead and i cant understand a word he says. he speaks in a monotone and the videos, which you watch on thursday and are terrible, are the best thing about the class. As long as you listen, the movies arent hard but they are stupid. Dont take him
Unclear; nothing from the lectures is on the exams. You must teach yourself the material before the midterm/final. Don't bother going to class it's useless and he doesn't take attendance. I would not recommend him as a teacher.
Very straightfoward professor, no surprises.
o sam... he's a lovable guy, cuz the class is usually so monotonous that even one joke he cracks makes the class collapse into hysterics. Thinks the only thing we can relate to is pizza and vodka. exams have nothing to do w/ lectures or the book. no continuity in what u read and lectures. just say no
I hate this man, I had his micro class and understood nothing. He made me miserable. gives out midterms without giving you any indication as to whats on it. He is a horrible powerpoint professor where he writes paragraph upon paragraph of crap down that you somehow have to write down. At the end of each class you ask yourself what you just learned
He is the most straightforward instructor ever! He only teaches once a week then the other class he shows a video. Easy. Just do the 10 homework assignments that are ridiculously easy and study for the only two exams you'll get and you're sure to get an A. O yeah and he gives extra credit every other week or so. Do it!
Okay - what are you people talking about!? Sam rocks. If you're not an idiot - which most people on here sound like they are, you will do fine in the class (trust me, I've had him 4 times - grad and undergrad). He doesn't hand hold but at this level, you shouldn't need hand holding! He is fair and a very smart man with a cute dry sense of humor.
First of all, it is not hard to get a bad grade in this class. However, Mirmirani is not friendly or personable, the class notes are useless, and the videos are not that exciting. The midterm is easy if you read the book/do hw (aplia) however youre basically teaching yourself.
A great instructor. He does not teach from the book so be prepared to self-study. He has a great deal of knowledge and tries to develop analytical skills in students. Likes to bring in current economic conditions into discussions. I would definitely take him again.
Complete waste of time. Can't believe I'm paying to sit through this rubbish. Avoid.
Mirmirani is great. The two tests are the homework and you can ace them if you just read the chapter once! The class is straightfoward and the videos give real-life examples of the subject matter. If you pay attention and do your work, it's the easiest class.
He is a nice guy. You have to really like the setup of his class and have time to read the chapters and kind of teach yourself. Exams are hard if you don't, I got C's on both and I usually get A's sometimes B's on everything.
Not a good professor even though I did well, grade = B. Find another professor. He likes to hear himself talk. Plays videos and expects you to find what he wants from the video with no direction. By far worst professor at Bryant.
lectures make no sense. tries to cram all of the info on to the tests without teaching the majority of the info. if you can help it don't take him. video reports and homework save your grade, but homeworks are timed and difficult.
WORST ECON TEACHER EVER. You can't understand what he says, and his writing is illegible. He makes you watch videos to "learn" but you are never tested on these (and these are the only things you may understand). The only good thing about him is that you cannot fail since he is the department head and that would look bad on his part.
Class is a lecture and very boring. He gives notes for each chapter but to do well on the tests you really need to read each chapter too. There is only 3 tests, each one counting as a fifth of your grade. The other 2 fifths is homework and video assignments. The videos are long and annoying but an easy A and a way to keep your grade up
He is a very hard teacher. He just comes in and lectures. Very hard to understand and you can barely read anything be writes. The exams are basically impossible and have nothing to do what's said in class.
The tests and quizzes have literally zero to do with the textbook, which was the primary resource for learning, as the class was online. Forces you to do a ton of outside research and learning in order to be able to pass the test.
sam is a nice guy, but doesn't like to teach. every class was a different group presenting, and its hard to get an a on your presentations. tests are easy though and they help boost your grade. go to class because attendance is also a grade booster.
sam is a nice guy, but doesn't like to teach. every class was a different group presenting, and its hard to get an a on your presentations. tests are easy though and they help boost your grade. go to class because attendance is also a grade booster..
I took Mirmirani for Economic Development. The hardest portion of this class was getting up at 8am. You have to do 10 video reports (2 pages long) and 8 article presentations with your group. Sound like a lot, but seriously not bad. The tests are based ONLY on the book.
He is extremely hard and his lectures are very boring and hard to follow
I didn't really like econ to begin with so taking his class wasn't fun. He's really hard to understand and is a tough grader. I emailed him 4 times during the semester for clarification on different things and he responded to 1 and all he said in that email was to check his previous email. I would avoid if you can
Mirmirani made economics more bearable for me. I always found it hard, but he makes it easier and really breaks it down. He gives many options for extra credit. If you show up to class and pay attention to the lectures, as well as do homework you'll survive. Homework is easy and there is 3 tests throughout the semester
Took Prof. Mirmirani for sports econ and he kept the class fairly interesting. You were split into groups and every class certain groups had to present a sports topic. Tough to get an A on those, but tests weren't too bad. If you enjoy sports and are an econ major/minor, I strongly advise taking this class.
Mirmirani did not seem excited or enthusiastic about teaching the course material. His lectures were less than helpful and usually boring but he is more helpful if you go to his office hours.
Lectures can be boring, but take good notes and his class can be a breeze. Seems like a very stern man, but meet him outside of class and he is a very nice guy and wants you to succeed in his class. His exams consist of 4-5 short answer questions, so their isn't a lot of wiggle room on his exams.
He is a great economics professor and he is a fair grader. Makes course work relevant to the real world. Spends time to make sure students are successful.
There is no need to show up for the class he teaches with a printout directly from the book so you won't miss much. He does not grade reasonably so get on his good side; he also doesn't have an interest in the students, he shows up exactly when class starts and leaves 15 min early without cracking a smile.
I love economics, and I have enjoyed every professor I have had, but I would not recommend taking his class, find a different professor. It is your money being spent get the best education you can with it.
You won't learn much from him so you will have to read the book to understand the topics. He is a good guy, but his class isn't worth taking.
He will rip you apart with grades. You will be tested on things you did not learn in class so read the book.
Mirmirani simply does not care. He frames the class to do as little teaching as possible. 2-3 presentations diminishes lecture time, as well as every class ending 15 minutes early. He's not a good teacher, ideas are presented confusingly and he does not speak clearly. Not worth taking despite sports economics being an interesting topic on paper
Every week i have a paper for this guy, I hate this class beyond words. Absolutely do NOT take this class unless you're into weekly essays
Very rude and does not care to answer questions. A paper due every week. I could not tell you one thing I have learned from him. He reads off some notes in class and that is it. Never connects things to current events or asks questions, just lectures. Grading is very odd, no reasoning.
Watch a 30 minute video each week, then have to write a paper after that for 2 pages. Grading is very strange. Lecture is not good, barely provides notes for students. Mid Term and Final were tough with only 5 or 6 questions that are open response but never spoke on before. Would never take this class again.
This was the worst class I have ever taken. He is not specific about anything. You will not know what your exams will be on. For the midterm, all he said was that the test is on chapters 1-7 and that it is in essay format. No specific help, when you ask questions he gets angry you don't know exactly what he is talking about. Never take this class!
Went to every single class, always did homework, studied etc and I show up for the midterm exam it's all theory based questions and I got a 28. I had an 88 in the class before the test and then now I have a 43 because he didn't agree with my takes on the exam. Reads his slide shows word from word and we copy them down. Learning nothing.
He is so different. 10 homework assignments, 6 papers, 2 exams. If you do good in the papers and homework assignments, it will be helpful for you to have a good grade. Extra credits is very hard. Btw, he is strict for grading.
Hes not a good professor my any means. Didnt even know my name by the end of the semester. And a horrible lecture, didnt even get to understand Marco Econ
The worst teacher/Professor I have ever had. Classes consist of boring lectures and him reading slides off the board. I did not learn anything while taking the class and if you try to ask him questions he gets mad at you for not understanding what he's talking about. Test are difficult unless you read the textbook from front to back.
Lectures are incredibly boring. Reads word for word off slides that are copied word for word from textbook. Mumbles through half of what he says. Offers students no direction and has no clear idea for how he grades anything. Exams are nothing like what he drones about in class. Overall terrible professor, take econ from someone who cares.
Super boring, lectures the whole class and is hard to talk to.
Lots of lectures, grading criteria is vague. However, he is not a tough grader and he gives lots of extra credit. Not the most outgoing guy, but friendly nonetheless once you get to know him a bit better. Pay attention and take good notes and you'll pass easily.
He was very dull. You could tell he was knowledgeable about the subject, but he did not instill his students with enthusiasm. I do not know how I ended with a decent grade, but I'll take it. Maybe that says something about his grading, in the sense that he grades rather easily.
Was very boring
He does not care about students. He gives bad feedback and he does not teach. He reads off of slides.
He does not care about you or any questions you have about anything, either in class or on a test. He will give you snarky remarks at any sort of question and reads off slides the entire time. By far the worst economics professor I have ever had and should truly retire.
Extremely boring classes and literally sounds miserable when he talks. Each class consists of a lecture with a 25-30 slide power point that is basically copied from the textbook. If you want to pass this class, take notes before class and read from the textbook. If you want to pass the exams, start studying at least 2 weeks in advance.
He is passionate about his lectures, and he knows what he is talking about. The only problem is he is a little unclear when it comes to giving directions on the group project and the assignments in the class. Besides that, he only gives us 6 short video papers, 3 exams, and a group project. hes pretty shy but so friendly when you get to know him
You can tell he is very passionate about the lectures and what he is talking about, very good at making you understand the material and a very reasonable pace.
I have taken many economics classes, and I have NEVER had a worse econ professor than Professor Mirmirani. He is nice (most of the time) and I don't have an issue with him as a person, but I am extremely disappointed in terms of how he goes about teaching. Classes are mandatory, expect 30+ slide PowerPoints every day, and extremely difficult tests.
Get ready to take notes non stop and pray you do good on your test or you will fail.
This professor is not understanding at all. He is very monotones with his lectures and your grade is solel based on tests. I don't recommend if you are more hands on.
He is not that understanding, and he does not teach at a regular pace he goes too fast.
If you take this class you will have to listen too him ramble and follow a PowerPoint for every class. He doesn't help students in any way and moves at a fast past. His exams don't even reflect every thing on the PowerPoint. If you fail a test your pretty much screwed for his class. If you wanna get a good grade in his class do not take this guy.
Not good at allll, his lectures are a waste of time and you're better off reading the textbook. He prescribes homework for sections you haven't gone over yet and none of his policies are clear. If you ask him about his policies you'll only be more confused because he can't even explain them. He is not tech savvy and is very removed from his student
Classes are so boring with all of the classes being him talking with slides. He is very unapproachable, gives homework that he swears lines up with what is being taught in class but it doesn't line up at all. He always has trouble with his projector and is rude to the staff that come in to fix it. Him and his class is so so boring! don't recommend.
Lecture heavy course with minimal assignments (test heavy). He makes your grade up randomly so you really can't anticipate your grade. Would not recommend taking this professor unless you want the worst experience.
He does not care one bit about his students, reads off of slideshows every class. He often relates the topics to his personal experiences from 30+ years ago that are no longer relevant to today. Would not reccomend this professor if you want to get a good grade.
He teaches a very lecture-heavy class, and his lectures are often boring and fail to keep the class engaged. He also often rambles on about how current economics are affecting him, such as how his retirement money is getting messed up due to current events, so he has to continue to be a teacher for longer. Overall, not an enthusiastic teacher.
Have found the proffer to be openly not care about teaching, will brush over hard concepts and not care. Have also seen him remove people from group projects and not inform them. Sam overall seems like an uninterested unethical professor and wouldn't ever recommend his corse. Instead would urge you to seek out proffer Mohan.
Looks like some things never change. I had this instructor way back in 1982! He was very lecture heavy, no student participation, glossed over topics that it appeared he was less comfortable with and gave impossible test. I cannot believe he is still teaching after 42 years since I graduated from Bryant!
Do not recommend if you're not into lectures. Multiple midterms and one final test + one group project is all you're graded on.
DO NOT take the Mirmirani unless you want to tank your GPA. Tests are graded very harshly and often tests on stuff that is not in the curiculum especially random questions from the Mcgraw hill practice tests. The only thing that will help you get abovve a B for the tests in his class is Mcgraw hill quizzes. DO NOT buy the TEXTBOOK, he doesnt use it
He's the vain of my existence. Hate him
He gave one of my friends PTSD, it was hilarious to see the dude crash out. Would recommend him to your worst enemies or that one friend you wanna mess with.
Was one of the worst teachers I have had Bryant so far. Very lecture heavy, but only reading directly from the slides that he has on Canvas. The slides he reads is not even on the exam and your grade only based on the 3 exams and final project. You have to go and speak with him if you want to come even close to passing his class. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
One word to describe this guy is miserable. Easily agitated and aggressive, and you can tell he doesn't want to be here. Definitely an expert in the field but horrible at teaching it. Reads directly from slides but don't study them because they won't be on the test. Can't come back from doing bad on a test because he only puts in like 5 grades.
