dont curve nothing. failed with a 58.7 final average. good teacher but you better learn your stuff cause he aint gonna help.
Excellent teacher, by far the best math teacher i have had. If you pay attention you will do very well. Test questions are predictable and are often homework questions. Final is very difficult but only worth 12 persent of your grade.
I strongly disagree w/ anyone who says that Narimetla is not a good teacher. He really cares about his students and wants to help them.I can think of plenty students he helped. He has a very laid back, sweet, and fun personality.
He has a great attitude towards teaching and his students. His teaching can be unclear at times though. He doesn't take up homework, but at least attempting it will help you. He has no problems with helping students.
cool guy, great sense of humor. will go out of the way to help you. test questions are straight copies of homework questions.
very good teacher...like eerone else said tests came gen from hw very helpful if you needed help evn on tests
he is a funny guy but not very helpful at all. I went up and asked for help and he just told me to do problems. I don't think he cares very much about his students. The methods that he teaches are very confusing and I am an A student in math.
I had to withdraw from his class because of his very unclear teaching methods. I really don't believe you can pass this class without being an above average math student. Tried to email for help and would not email back. Lots of people had to withdraw.
hard to understand methods, very unhelpful, had to withdraw along with half the class
When you first enter this class, it seems ridiculously easy, but when the tests come, watch out. He has cursed at us a couple of times, very offensive. I heard he's bitter because he got kicked out of the engineering dept. I would not recommend him AT ALL
Well he seems to be an easy teacher, but he pulls test questions out of nowhere. Half the class failed, if not more. He is not willing to help anyone at all, just tells you to do the homework (I did, and I still averaged a 40 on the test)>
Very horrible teacher, doesn't explain well or help students. i am barely keeping C average. at least 100/200 students have dropped course.
This guys is the laziest teacher I have ever seen. It takes him well over a month to grade and return any quiz/exam.
He needs to go back to India. He has no understanding of what he is teaching. 200 people in the begining now maybe 60 people. Foul language and no good teaching methods.
all he does is write examples on the board and say ok. no teaching, his english sucks, you can get an A if you beat him in racketball
Swears in class, which is funny. His handwriting is illegible and his accent's hard to understand, but you got to get over that to take math here anyway.
Dr. Sam is a somewhat nice person. He seems easy to begin with, but the tests are ridiculous. Lord knows where he gets his questions. He doesn't curve, round, or give extra credit. 75% of my class dropped.

Seems easy at first but gets harder as semester goes on. He does NOT know how to teach..he just TELLS instead of TEACHES...He does NOT curve..so what you get is what you get. I got a B out of this class cuz I worked my tail off for it on my own!
I think that above comments are completely false. He made math make more sense and made it easier than it ever was in high school. And he was so nice and helpful. Maybe these people are just too lazy to study a little on their own - this is college!
Dr. Sam sucks, when 14 out of 100 people finish the class and probably fail there is a problem. He take name in vain , swears in front of ladies, and pulls questions for tests and quizes from india. he sucked.
Been through 6 math classes at tech and he is by far the best I have had. Clarifies everything well; develops good relationships with students. writes every little thing he says on the board and i mean everything, even his many random nonmath comments
Doesnt speak clearly, doesnt explain things well, and is confusing in the way he teaches. Do not take this class.
Sam speaks better English than any Indian professor I ever met. Not only that, but his notes and explanations are very detailed and concise. If you show him a little effort and enthusiams, he'll make you understand the material. If you goof off and expect and easy grade, then take someone else.
I had Sam for engineering dynamics, but I must say he was one of the most thurough, clear, and student-friendly profs I had. He speaks english very well and understands the material. He expects a lot of his students as he should!
He is not a good teacher. Do not take him if you want to make a good grade. He goes through everything very fast and he does not speak very clealy.
This professor is ok, he's kind of hard to understand sometimes and his methods are pretty complicated. If you're good in algebra, it's easy; if you struggle with it, this class will probably just confuse you more.
GREAT TEACHER!!! HELPS ANY STUDENT WHO IS WILLING TO LEARN! EXPLAINS IN GREAT DETAIL!!! WOULD TAKE AGAIN IF HE TAUGHT 1830! IS WILLING TO TAKE EXTRA TIME TO EXPLAIN NEW CONCEPTS AND HELP WITH HOMEWORK!!!!! ENTHUASTIC ABOUT TEACHING!!!! IF YOU WORK HARD AND TRY, YOU WILL MAKE A GOOD GRADE, IT DEPENDS ON THE EFFORT THAT YOU PUT INTO IT. GREAT TEACHER
He was very nice and willing to explain anything. He assigns homework but never takes it up. Don't really need a book, just look over your notes. Turn in notebook at the end of year. He moves kind of fast, sometimes skips steps. But once again, he'll explain it for you. Never miss a test or quiz, he gives you a hard time when trying to make it up.
Sam is an awesome professor. I was kind of scared to ask for help at first when i needed it. When I asked him for help he was always there for me. He took time out of his busy schedule to spend 2 hours helping me and reteaching me what we went over in class. He is unique and a helpful professor who wants to see his students succeed! TAKE HIM!!! :D
Yes, he has a fairly strong accent, but that doesn't affect the teaching. He has plenty of funny reflections on the english language and stories from living in india. The tests are short and concise, testing your knowledge exactly as they should. Play him in racquetball if you want to get pwnd.
Awesome professor. Has accent, but very easy to understand. If for some reason you cannot understand him, he writes litterally everything he says on teh board at the same time. Wants students to do well. Once let our entire class retake a test cause we all did poorly, and used the best grade out of the two. Im taking another one of his classes!
Great teacher. Helpful, gives fair tests and quizzes, wants the class to actually learn the material, provides many examples in class. Nothing unexpected. Just study hard and you will get the grade you want.
Basically if you go to class you will do good in his class, awsome teacher
Hes the man. I suggest anyone taking calc II in the future to add him
He is a very good teacher. Will teach you a lot.
He is the best Professor
He is a great guy, and really cares about his students. He has a diffrent style of teaching that you will just have to get used to. Over all he is a good teacher, and if you have a some what strong back ground in math I recomend him. If not, choose someone else.
go to class every day, and know your integration tables by heart. tests are not that bad, if youve done the nonmandatory homework. quizzes are worth almost as much as tests, be prepared for those too.(usually very easy but not very many questions, be careful and know your definitions. oh, if you cant understand this guy you dont know english
This guy is not only good at racquetball. He teaches what he knows very well, and he knows a lot. His English is perfect. His tests are fair and cover the material. He is a fair and understanding teacher. There is no reason not to take this guy. You will have fun at learning, and you will learn in the process. 3 tests, 1 final. Take Dr. Narimetla!
Dr. Narimetla is a good teacher to take math from. He may take a good portion of time going through each section, but most of the stuff he goes over goes on the test, making the class quite easy if you attend every day. Quite funny and clear to understand, this teacher should be taken if possible.
He really is a great teacher. He will answer any question you need help with. The tests are knida hard though but those are your only grades in the class. 4 test grades.
A real good teacher! He's really fun to have fun with. He will answer any question and go in depth about it. Ur only grades are 3 tests. No hw grades. English is really good too. And he can play a mean game of raquetball.
Dr. Narimetla is very thorough. Diff E is a hard class so copy everything he writes on the board. He writes everything he says so if you take good notes you have the lecture. He only gives 4 exams including the final and they are tough. Very good teacher and speaks perfect english.
He's not one of these brilliant Mathematicians that's so up in the air that they can't relate to students. He's an engineer by trade, which makes him awesome at figuring out what students find tricky so that he can better address those issues. I always left the classroom understanding exactly what was going on in the lesson. He's frikkin awesome.
Dr. Narimetla is an awsome teacher. He has fun in class also. Just about everyday he makes jokes about anything. If you have a question it is answered. He is very fair. If the class wants the test moved to different day he will do so. His tests cover what he talks about, or some problems in the book. Attend class and work problems for good grades.
Great teacher. Do the homework and you'll do great. He's really willing to help you with anything you need. Just drop by during office hours. Apply yourself and you'll do fine.
Sam is a great teacher. He shows interest in his students and their grades. He's very clear and easy to understand. Tests are over problems he does in class. Definitely recommend taking his class.
Prof. Narimetla was a GREAT professor!! I was a little worried about calc 2, but he was a really good teacher. He was always willing to answer any questions. His tests were really straight forward. I get really bad test anxiety, but he would always encourage me right before the test. I am taking him again for Diff EQ! i really recommend him!!
Diff E. Great professor...would recommend to anyone for any level of math.
Great instructor. Best for Engineering students, because he can tell you how you'll use the math to solve real problems. Tests were very fair, based on homework and class notes.
Speaks very good english. He wants to be your friend so that you feel comfortable asking him questions and he is very helpful when answering questions. Notes are very important tests are fair but not easy.
Dr. Narimetla was great. Very helpful. He expects you to understand the material but doesn't throw really complex or complicated problems at you.
He only taught basic & easy materials. I need to self-study a lot for any advanced materials. I wish I had not taken his course.
Narimetla is a great guy and an excellent teacher. He's been really helpful when I ask questions. The test are very reasonable. I know the name is forign, but he does a better job communicating than other teachers I've had. Highly suggested. I know you're reading this Dr. N. I hope I get an A...ok,I deserve a B.
He's a great professor who does a great job explaining things. He'll always be glad to help you if you ever need help with anything. I will definately try to get him again for a higher level math class.
If you have to take Cal II TAKE Dr. Narimetla. He is a great Guy and very helpful. He is an ME grad and he explains and give a few examples for ME majors. I highly recommend him and i will take him and go back to him for help.
Very good teacher. Clear with material, and most importantly, tests and quizzes are straightforward. Just go to class and you should be ok.
good teacher fair graiding. very cool. homework is discretionary, so is a good grade. i did mine the night before the tests and he was an easy A. i cant believe people get D's and F's in this course. this is the second time ivv taken dr narimetla, and if he tought diff e 2 again i would definately take him
Dr. Narimetla is a great teacher and a nice guy to just talk to. He will help you if you come to him and will host class help sessions before the tests. The tests are somewhat difficult, but he makes it fair. Highly Recommended for any math
Very helpful. great personality
great teacher
Literally the best math teacher I've ever had! I wish he was teaching Diff-E next semester! Very funny, keeps you interested, he's the only professor I stop to say hi to on campus!
I absolutely loved Dr Narimetla! I really struggled in understanding Cal1 but Cal2 to me was so much easier coming from him. His degree is not in Math its actually in Engineering so he is more interested in knowing how to apply the material than in the theory of everything. He is the best teacher I have had at Tech yet. TAKE HIM IF AT ALL POSSIBLE!
One of my favorite teachers all time. Really cares about the students, Offers study/question sessions before exams. Works a lot of example problems in class. Relieves learning environment at least once every class period to tell you a few jokes or a long story about something cool like his background. Really interesting and funny. AWESOME GUY! A+
Dr. Narametla is a great professor! He is funny, and he teaches in a clear and straightforward mannor. The test and quizes aren't bad unless you don't study. highly recommend!
Awesome professor, even better guy! Clear and easy to understand lectures that sometimes include really cool stories about India. Be sure you do homework if you expect an A.
If u want an easy A dont take him but if u want to learn exactly what u need to and beyond so i are ready for the next class then take him. He is an Amazing teacher and a better friend. He will help u in and outside class with anything u ask. NARIMETLA RULES!!! TUNAK TUNAK TUN! sir flowers
Calc II is a hard class no matter who teaches it. If you want a professor who wants you to succeed and not just to show how smart there, he's it. If you want a professor that teaches the material well and has a great sense of humor, he's it. He is the best
He is by far my favorite math professor at Tech. He's always very interesting and teaches all of the concepts very clearly. There are four tests, four quizzes, and a final exam. There is no assigned homework, but its a good idea to work the problems at the end of the sections
Great teacher, good personality, accent is workable. Summarized material often, which I always find very helpful. You can tell he likes his job. Would take for another class without hesitation.
I had him twice for the same class (I'm sure he knows who this is). Calc 2 is supposed to weed kids out. He makes it hard in the way that you have to work problems yourself. If there is ANY question on math, he'll help you out with it. He'll talk to you about anything after class. Stayed up till 1am with us for a study section over chapter 6&7.
funny, made me want to come to class, calc 2 is hard, but narimetla does not make it any harder than it has to be, best professor i have ever had. If you go to class and study before the tests, you should get a A. I would take him for any class.
He is the Best Professor I have EVER had. Absolutely amazing. He does plenty of examples and is very willing to help you until you understand! He even explains concepts from previous courses in the case that you may not remember. Excellent Professor! I wish he taught every course!
If you hate math take his class!! He doesn't collect homework or assign any. He is easy to understand, even though he is from India. He gave a help sesion on night before a test i got a B on it.He doesn't take attendence and he doesn't care if you come in late or leave early. GREAT PROFESSOR!!!
Sam is a great guy his test are exactly as he describes in class. he is willing to help out any way possible if you do the assigned problems on your free time you will do good i would of done better if i would of worked more problems but all and all this has been my best math class i have took in my college career and i am a senior!!
possibly the greatest math teacher ever! he's a very good teacher and a good person and really takes time to make sure that you understand! take him whenever the occasion arrises!
Narimetla is a amazing teacher. He is very funny, nice, and has a warm attitude. Don't be afraid to talk with him and go to his office to check out your grade. I would have done better if I had. I won't lie, the class is pretty hard, but not too hard. I would recommend Narimetla.
Had this guy twice and about to be for the third time, and any one who says he is a poor teacher I WILL FIST FIGHT YOU!!! he is hilarious, highly recommend him haha
Dr. Narimetla is the most dedicated teacher I have ever had. He will work with you until you understand, regardless of how much work it takes. He is very personable, and gets to know EVERYBODY. He is not the easiest teacher, but if you take his class you WILL know your stuff. definitely take this guy every chance you get
This guy is probably the best in the Math department. He explains the basics very well where other teachers just speed through. 3 tests, 3 quizes, and a lot of funny jokes! He is also glad to help out if you are struggling. I have taken Dr. Narimetla twice and would do so again in a heartbeat!
I really love this professor, I took calculas with another teacher last semester but it went right over my head. So I tried it again with Nurimetla this semester, and he made it so simple. It was just like a high school class. If you truly want to pass and understand what you are doing then take this teacher. Best teacher I have ever had.
Really cool and funny guy. Tests are mildly tough but if you study correctly you can easily get an A. Quizzes are cake compared to the tests. If you go by and talk to him at any time he is ready and willing to help. Definitely recommended compared to other math teachers at TTU.
Narimetla is a great teacher. He's really personable, funny, and good spirted. He's not easy, but he's not too difficult. You will learn alot in his class. Word to the wise. Study hard for tests. They can have a few zingers in there. Also, don't be afraid to go to his office after class. He likes to know you care about your grade. Cal I- B Cal II-C
Great teacher!
Just grab him. Dr.Sam is a very dedicated teacher. You will have to study hard for this class, but if you do what you are supposed to, you can make an A without taking the finals. I got lucky and did not even have to show up. important tips: 1. Be modest 2. Don't memorize formulas. DERIVE them. Follow these rules and you will do good. Good luck.
Best professor on campus. Makes everything interesting and sincerely cares about his students. As long as you have a desire to learn you will do good in his class and even if you don't you will understand the material better than with any other professor.
Great teacher. Tries to really explain and clarify things to the class. He will take time away from a lesson to review an old concept if its needed to help others with the topic on hand. His quizzes for the most part are pretty straight forward. His tests will have a few curve balls but nothing that will be impossible. Know trig identities.
Quite possibly the best professor at Tech. His explanations are crystal clear. His PhD is in mechanical engineering so his classes really make sense to engineers bc he teaches the problem solving process without spending days on theory. Expect a couple tricky problems on test; most likely dealing with trig identities. Do ALL the homework.
Dr. Sam is the best teacher that I've ever had at Tech or anywhere else for that matter. He teaches extremely well and always is willing to help you at anytime you may need it. If you understand the material, you will do great. You either get it or you will not. Great teacher.
Now im gonna be completely honest, Dr. Narimetla has got to be the BEST math professors at TTU that I have ever had!! Not only does he teach the class material very thoroughly, he presents it in a way that is very very easy to comprehend aslo he is such a really funny and awesome guy as well makes the whole class a blast!! No a doubt take him!!
Dr. Narimetla is a very good teacher. You will learn everything you're supposed to if you show up for class every day, try some problems and have some questions. If you study the day of the test you should be fine. He will tell you what each will cover. However, do very well on the tests. He WILL NOT curve anything to help you.
Sam is an awesome teacher! So fun to have. Made both my Calc II and Diff E classes enjoyable. He jokes a lot but still teaches very well. He is straight forward which makes learning easy. And he is a great friend. You will definately learn the stuff with him and also have a good time. Narimetla is the man.
Take him. Done. Do it. Now. Go sign up. Best math teacher at tech.
DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!! ALL OF IT!!! If you do that guaranteed B but most likely an A. Never had a Better Professor in my 3yrs. Also go by his office and ask any questions you have, he doesn't mind helping you! P.S. he likes Trig so learn it...
Dr. Narimetla is an exceptional professor. He is helpful, smart, entertaining, fair, and concerned. If you need help, he will help you; he even has help sessions the night before the tests. You put forth the effort and you will get the grade. He isn't easy, but you will certainly learn. He is the best math professor I have had.
Thumbs up!
Taking for Calc 1. Any calc class will be hard if youve never taken it before but taking narimetla will guarantee it's not the teachers fault if you fail. Do your hw and spend a few hours a week working problems and youll do fine on the tests and quizzes. quizzes are somewhat easy compared to the test. definitly the calc teacher to take. Easy B
forgot to mention if you need help with problems go to cramster.com and create a free acount and the soltutions to all odd problems are free. hw isn't collected but it is nice to have solutions to hw problems that you cant figure out. also go to youtube and watch some calc problems being worked out and that helped alot too
Dr. Narimetla is an outstanding professor! His quizzes and tests at times are a little difficult and tends to throw a curveball or two, but do the homework problems he says we are responsible for and attend his help sessions and you will be fine! Very entertaining as well... Also, don't text in his class, he considers it very disrespectful.
Narimetla is the man! Quite possibly the best teacher on campus. Incredibly detailed explanations. Willing to help you outside of class...and not just with math. Quizzes aren't too bad. Tests are pretty hard but always fair. Do the HW problems and you'll do fine. If you didn't learn Diff E with this guy, its your own fault.
Simply amazing teacher! Very helpful and funny person. He really gets to know each and every student in his classes. I thought I was going to hate Cal 2, but I ended up loving it because of this professor. If you go to every class and do your homework, you'll get an easy B. I wouldn't pick any other Math professor!
Great teacher! He is willing to help both during class and outside of class. He truly cares about his students and wants to see each one succeed. Quizzes aren't too hard. Tests are more difficult, but he almost always has a help session the night before. I suggest you go to the help sessions, do the homework & starred problems and you will be fine.
Awesome teacher!!! I enjoyed every class meeting. Starts from the very beginning and teaches you step by step. Makes sure that you understand the work, instead of just doing it to get it done. Tells lots of great jokes and is very helpful! I would definitely take him again.
Awesome teacher!!! I enjoyed every class meeting. Starts from the very beginning and teaches you step by step and makes sure that you understand the work, instead of just doing it for a grade. Tells lots of great jokes and is very helpful! Each quiz and test is based off the previous so that in the end you are prepared for the final.
Dr. Narimetla is an amazing man. First off, he has his Ph.D in Mechanical engineering. He teaches you from the engineering perspective, not the math professor perspective! His quizzes are easy, and his tests can be hard. Study and you should do fine. Also, ask questions! Very flexible in scheduling exams/quizzes as well!!!
gret no comment, you better active, teaching with great logic
He's awesome but you better make sure you take his class deadly seriously like he says all the time. If you go to the help session regularly and do your homework you'll be fine. When you do his homework be analytical and really learn material. Also WARNING: He does not curve, or drop test lowest test grades he will fail you with no mercy!!!
Only take him if you are an engineering major. He explains everything in engineering terms, which was difficult for me, since I am not an engineer. His test are very difficult, so study hard.
He is a good teacher, but he is an extremely harsh grader. No work - 0 credit, don't write lim next to everything - 0 credit, forget a negative - 0 credit. The answer AND work 100% correct for full credit. His idea of partial credit is 10% of the problem's value. Do NOT take Narimetla if you want a decent grade. 4 tests 4 quizzes, NO HW grade.
Dr. Narimetla is a great man, he is probably the most friendly professor i have had at tech. He goes out of his way to not only learn everybody's name, but actually know the students. On the other hand, if you take his class do not goof off! He will not hesitate to fail anybody. If you study and do every problem in the book twice, you will be fine.
Narimetla is a great professor & even better person. Extremely friendly, willing to help. & clear on what he wants. That being said, when he says you are responsible for knowing something on a test, KNOW it. I had to drop the class because I took it too lightly. Taking him again next semester though-that's how highly I think of him.
Great teacher! He's extremely helpful and nice. You can always go to him with questions. Tests are pretty hard, but they're reasonable. My favorite teacher! I would definitely take him again!
Narimetla is a 'fondoo' guy! I came into the class knowing a whole lot of nothing and came out with a B. Do the problems you are responsible for. Go to help sessions. Ask questions. I only wish that he had been more 'patient' at times. Other than that, he is a great, great professor, and so, so nice!
Dr. Sam is the bomb !!! He is the best. Grades picky because he does not want engineers to kill someone with errors in their math. Take him at all costs !!!!
Please give Dr. Sam a raise. He is the best professor at Tech !!!!! Made a "B" because I did my homeworks.
If taking in an online class, completely worthless. Never responds to emails, but does help you if he does respond. I'm sure he may be a good teacher in a class setting but as i said, online he is useless. provides absolutely no notes or guidance.
Professor Narimetla is very helpful, and you will like him if you have him.
By far the best math teacher at tech. People like to say he is the hardest tester but if you would just apply what he teaches you and actually but pencil on paper you'll ace his class.
Dr. Sam is my favorite professor at Tech so far. He is very helpful and although his tests are hard, if you do the HW and make sure you understand all the material you will do very well. Great class.
Good Teacher, Hard Test.
Great teacher and very informative. if you study for his tests and quizzes you will pass. Do all the homeworks he gives, if you can do the book work you can pass his tests. he's a great teacher and im taking him again for diff e.
Great professor, know your trig prior to coming into class. If you have any misunderstandings he will help you understand them better.
DO the homework, pay attention in class. Listen to what he tells you to do, and youll pass this class with ease.
Dr. Sam is the best instructor for Differential Equation, but you Must have a really good foundation in math, this is because you will almost use every math skill you know,if your target to get an A you Must do the homework. Dr.Sam I would like to tell you something 'not every one like to be honored or dishonored in public" I'm sure you will get it
Dr. Sam is the BEST !!! Will not give you a grade but will let you earn it. He is not tricky just completely FAIR !!
Fantastic professor. Would definitely reccomend
An ideal professor for math
Great professor, I would recommend him for every class he teaches.
His classes consist of him presenting a problem to you, telling you the method to use for it, then working examples. You definitely need a strong understanding of the integration you used in Calc 2 or it'll be tough. But if you're comfortable integrating and learn by working examples, he's the ideal teacher. Tough but fair.
Really great professor for Cal 2 and Diff E if you want to learn. Always review your basic calculus and trig before each test. Without fail he will have something that requires sin(A+B) or cos(pi/3). Attendance is not required, but if you skip you are missing out. He records his lectures, but it isn't the same. Homework is not required but necessary
He is by far the best teacher I have ever had. Dr. Sam is really great and if you apply yourself it is not hard to make an A or a B. He is there for all of his students but it is up to you to take the time to ask for help if you need it. If the Math Dept. had 10 Dr. Sams, guaranteed that Tech would have the best math dept. in the U.S.
Yeah he's a very nice guy, but his grading is awful, no partial credit, you miss something as small as a -, then its wrong! No extra credit, no retakes, no drops. You get 4 tests and 4 quizzes! Heed my warning if you are okay at math do not take this class, he will fail you, the test are insane. He's very likable, but not a very good professor.
great teacher, he will work from the students he thinks understands the material the least and frothem he will work his way up as to build a stronger class. he is helpful and wants you to know why we do what we are doing in math not just how. he is very big on knowing definitions an can grade hard but i feel that it is quite fair how he does grad
I took Narimetla this semester for Math 1910. If you pay attention in the class and try to write down the problems he does in his lectures, you should do okay. He is very funny, and I did not find the class to be very boring. It is hard to get an 'A' in his class, but he is an exceptional teacher. He respects his students that try.
Dr. Sam is the best math professor I've had. Diff e was a breeze with him. Take good notes in class, and do the homework he assigns and there's no reason anyone shouldn't get an A.
Great teacher! He gives you a basic concept, then works a bunch of examples. If you ask questions, he will answer them, but he doesn't like email. If you show him you care, he will care. Trig heavy, so make sure you know your trig identities!
Amazing calculus professor, you should take him if you don't mind the class being challenging
Dr. Sam is such a great man and teacher! Just brush up on your trig identities and functions! I'm taking him for as many classes as I can.
He is a wonderful professor, but if you do not come to class and do the work you will fail. You have to practically do all the homework problems he recommends. Also either know trig or learn it quickly. He always has some trig on every test and quiz.
Dr. Sam is one of the best professor i have ever had, his lectures are both fun and very informative. Should not take if you are not willing to work or do the homework.
Great guy, good teacher, but he makes you work for it. MUST do the homework in order to do even partially well in the class. Barely any partial credit, so prepare to do well, or fail miserably. Pretty much have to memorize anything and everything so be prepared to turn into a human calculus book for one semester. 3 tests, 3 quizzes, and a final...
Dr. Sam is without a doubt the best math professor I've ever had. His lectures are fantastic (and he records them) and loves when you ask questions. He assigns homework, which isn't required but you MUST do it to do well on his tests, which are very difficult. He might not be easy, but you'll definitely learn the material by the end of the class.
Calc 2 as an online course is not recommended since the material is tough enough as is without personal contact with a professor. All quizzes were multiple choice with 3 allowed attempts. Midterm and finals very similar to quizzes. Final was open book, open notes and with a calculator. Questions via email were answered in depth when asked.
One of the best math teachers I have ever had. He's tough, but he is one of the best teachers, as a person, I've met. He holds optional help sessions the night before every test, and he will answer any and all questions asked, even if it takes all class. Hilarious, helpful, not necessarily easy, but if you do the homework you'll do great.
One of the best math professor I ever had in TN TECH. If you are not a trig fan like me then get ready for some hardcore FUN. Attendance is not required, he records his lectures. In class 3 tests, 3 quizzes and final Overall, I would take every math class with him, if I can. You will learn a lot of stuff in his class.
Great teacher. Entertaining too. Homework is not mandatory but must be done in order to prepare yourself for tests and quizzes.
This online class is very tough for those who are average in the ways of mathematics. 10 quizzes, 10 Hw, 1 midterm, and a Final Exam. Hw is an easy 100, but reccomended if you want to pass. Study hard for the midterm and final because they are worth about 75% of your grade. He is very Helpful but this class is agonizingly difficult.
One of the best math teachers I've ever had. I had him for Calc 2 and am currently taking him for Diff E. He is not easy by any means, but he prepares you well and you really learn the material. He is super nice and sometimes he tells stories or cracks a few jokes. He is always willing to help too. Most importantly, KNOW YOUR TRIG.!
He is the best ever for math classes. He knows how to teach. I wish he can teach all mechanical engineering classes not just math. I would take any class he teaches for real.
You need to work on the homework to pass his class!!! I personally, did not work out the homework problems at all but I was paying attention in his class and I ended up making a C which was good cuz I did not really put a lot of effort in his class... But He is such a tough grader thats for sure !! Good luck.
Gives three quizzes and 3 cumulative tests, with the final exam being only worth 7%. He has a study session the night before tests for you to ask whatever and as many questions as you want. Dr. Sam does make you work for your grade, but he prepares you very well if you pay attention in class and work the problems with him. Would take him again.
Dr. Narimetla is awesome. He is obviously passionate about teaching and if you don't pass his class I truly believe it is your own fault. He answers all questions thoroughly in class and works them out step by step. Just do the homework (there's a lot) and look over quizzes for the tests. Going to take him for every single math class I can!
A kind man but lures you into a false sense of security with easier problems in class and then quizzes & tests have ridiculously hard integrals. Doesn't require hw which sounds nice but it's easy to keep putting off practicing problems. He holds a help session before exams which is very beneficial. Will answer ANY questions if you don't understand
I love Dr. Narimetla! He is a very hard grader and does not give partial credit so you have to work every single homework problem he gives. You will do well if you work hard and do all the homework he assigns. Quizzes and tests are very difficult but if you know your trig and all the trick problems you should do fine.
The GOAT. Know your trig and be thorough doing the hw. As long as you give some effort you'll pass. Also, he is such a great guy. He will teach you lessons that will help you in your personal life as well as your professional life. Take him for any class you can.
Great guy. Great Class. His quizzes and tests will make you question your sanity though. Had to study 10+ hours to do well on them.
A glorified trig class. A funny, and by all accounts kind guy. However, he seems that he would rather you know a trig identity then how to solve a problem. Gives simple examples in class and then crushes you on tests with crazy integrals. Not a terrible teacher of material, but his obsession with trig borders on uselessness.
Narimetla is my favorite teacher this semester. He explains, grades easy on tests, and is hilarious. He makes a 90 minute class fly by. My boyfriend from Georgia Tech came and said Narimetla was a better quality teacher than his teacher. Take good notes and do the homework, ask questions, and you should be fine. Accent wasn't a problem for me.
Narimetla is probably my favorite professor I've had. Would've taken him for Cal 2 if I'd known. You do have to work for it, but if you pay attention in lecture and do all the homework you will not have any problem. He is very willing to work with you and you can tell he cares about his students.
Fair warning, his class is difficult, and study your trig identities because he'll work you hard. That being said, he's incredibly funny, answers any question without hesitation, and posts his lectures (which are fantastic) online for you to listen to and watch as many times as you need. If you are willing to put in time and effort, he's the best.
Let me begin by saying Dr. Narimetla does challenge his students, but not to a ridiculous degree. Since this professor was at one point a mechanical engineer (if you take his class you will likely hear about this because he has many hilarious and interesting stories) his course is geared towards preparing his students to continue on to calculus 3.
I took his Differential Equation class. On the first day, he told everyone he would answer any questions. His class has 3 quizzes (9% each), 3 tests (22% each), and a final (7%). If you do decently and get close to 90% before the finals, he will exempt you from taking it. DO YOUR HOMEWORK and the sample he gives every time before tests!
One of the best teachers at Tech! Class is not to hard just show up and ask questions. Calc 2 has 4 quizzes and tests. If you score high enough you get exempt from the final.
He's great! would take again. Do the homework and know your trig.
Dr. Narimetla is by far the best professor I've had at Tech! DiffE was also the best class. He does an excellent job at teaching to where you understand the material and you can tell he actually enjoys helping students. He is really funny and makes the class fun! Try and take him if you can.
Dr. Narimetla has a reputation as a very difficult professor, but he teaches you well enough to pass his assessments. Definitely practice the problems he assigns or you will not pass.
Will answer any questions you ask. Always tries to be engaging. Records lectures, but you want to be in class to get it firsthand.
Friendly and funny, but exams are ridiculous. He is a fairly good teacher and material is not that difficult, but in exams, knowing the material isn't good enough. Gives very little partial credit, so even if you get 90% of the problem right, you won't get anywhere near 90%. Very trig heavy and test questions are much harder than hw and notes.
Dr. Narimetla is one of the best professors/teachers I've ever had. He teaches you so much more than just how to work problems from a book. He is always very willing to accommodate everyone and offers multiple ways to get help if you need it. Pay attention, do the homework problems, and ask questions and you will succeed.
Take Dr. Sam! I was a little nervous to take him because people told me he was the hardest teacher. The class started out hard, as most classes do to weed people out, but it got much easier at the end. I had him for Cal 2 and highly regret not taking him for Diff. E. If learn what he does in class, you will do fine.
Great professor, but be warned, His Math 1920 is the hardest class I've ever taken.
Narimetla is an amazing Professor. Just do all your homework because thats where he gets all his questions for quizzes and tests from. He really tries to help you if you dont understand something and he will hold help sessions outside of class if needed. Speak up and participate in class. 10/10 definitely gonna take him again for Diff Eq
He's an amazing, funny prof. Showing up to class isn't mandatory but I highly recommend it because his lectures are very informative. He uses the textbook for homework and while he grades hard, hes very clear ahead of time what he wants. All 4 quizzes and 4 tests are just like homework and his powerpoints, which he posts online and prints out.
Professor Narimetla is one of my favorite professors in the math department. The amount of respect he has from his students is unlike many math professors I've had. he knows how to conduct a classroom and he is even better at explaining things. He is funny too. His tests aren't bad as long as you know your algebra techniques and trig identities
Narimetla is hands down one of my favorite professors that I have had. I took him for Cal 2 and Differential Equations. He does not make homework mandatory but you need to do it for practice because he uses problems directly from the homework for quizzes and tests. Very trig heavy courses but he stresses that you know these from day 1.
He is the best math teacher I have ever had. He explains things so clearly and makes sure every student understands a subject perfectly before moving onto something else. He is very trig heavy but as long as you are willing to memorize trig functions, youll be okay. Homework isnt mandatory but I highly recommend doing it. Attendance as well.
Great professor. Work out problems from the notes and assigned hw thoroughly or you will fail. But be ready for his tests because they are HARD. Although the class is hard, Dr. Narimetla is by far the best professor and teaches it very well. I will see him again in diff eq. Just go to class, pay attention, and do ALL of the homework.
Dr. Narimetla was a great professor, it was really the content of CALC 2 that was difficult for me. Dr. Narimetla made class entertaining and clearly explained the content in his lectures - he also made these available to watch again on iLearn which was super helpful. If you need CALC 2 I would take Narimetla.
Dr. Narimetla is the best math teacher I have ever had. Cal2 is a very challenging class but he does a great job of explaining the material & making it interesting. He has a great sense of humor and wants to be your friend. Always records the lectures & help sessions & posts them online. 4exams /4 quizzes/1 final(6%). Taking him again for Diff.E.
Dr. Sam is really heavy on lectures, class participation, and jokes. He is wonderful in class and provided us with recorded lectures during covid. He has online homework assignments for a small grade, but most of the grade comes from 3 tests throughout the semester. Each test is only 7-9 questions long, so you really have to know what you're doing.
Do the homework/practice and the tests are straight forward. He loves trig, but only because he knows you will need it. Great stories.
Dr. Narimetla is very accessible outside of class. He responds to emails and is available during office hours. In order to make a good grade in his class, deliberate practice must be given. Do ALL of the practice problems for each topics covered. Pay attention to the little tricks needed to solve certain problems. Brush up on trig when needed.
Your grade is pretty much all tests & quizzes, but past assessments & ample practice ?s are provided, and if you work through them, tests are easy & straightforward. While optional, lectures are worthwhile, as far as both teaching and jokes/stories. Dr Sam is a real gem.
I have taken sam for Calc 2 and Diff-e and his class is not easy. But, he give you tons of practice problems. DO THE PRACTICE PROBLEMS, understand them, and you will get an A. Hilarious stories, very friendly, but hard class.
I tried my hardest in his class and I just couldn't do it. Study the HW and practice problems or you are screwed completely. No extra credit and he will not work with you. Good luck. I am going to try again if I am able to but he really has messed up my academic career. Please prepare yourself if you are going to take him.
Dr. Sam is easily the best teacher I have ever had. He is passionate and wants you to actually learn the material and take something away from the class. He is very personal and wants to get to know each student individually. He is flexible with grading and very transparent about what will be on tests and quizzes. If he is available take him!!
It's discouraging to know that Narimetla is meant to be one of the best Cal2 professors at tech. Grade was based almost entirely off of 4 tests and 4 quizzes. Practice problems are long, but they teach you the gen content. Tests and quizzes are mostly made of edge cases to tear you down. Apparently, in office hours he gives out the test questions.
This guy is the reason why I will never trust any professor who claims to care about all of their students ever again. He only cares about the students who do well in the course, so if you don't score a near perfect grade on his first test, you're not going to get any help from him. Feel free to take this guy if you ever want to feel discouraged.
Dr. Sam is one of the best math professors at Tech. He explains the material very well, and he is also available in his office hours for any extra help or assistance. In order to get a good grade in his class, you MUST study hard and do tons of practice problems. If you need Cal 2, I would take Narimetla.
He is an amazing professor, and always willing to help. Although his class can be difficult, he gives you more than enough resources to do well in the class.
He really cares about the students that put in effort in his class. If you don't try, don't expect extra help. The first few weeks of the course are harder than the others because he tries to weed out the people who don't need to be there. Regardless of your test and quiz scores if you try your best, he will give you the grade you deserve.
Dr. Narimetla is one of the best people I have ever met and certainly one of the best professors I have had. His impact on me will carry on beyond his class and into life. His class was challenging but his caring attitude and love for the subject helps his students study and thrive.
Dr Sam is the best teacher I have ever had. The way he taught math just made sense to me, and I got to the point where I would be looking forward to Diff EQ every day I had it. That being said, the class is not easy. He will challenge your algebra, trig, and calculus on top of the diff eq. Make sure you do all of the available practice problems.
Dr. Narimetla is the greatest professor I have ever had. He wants you to learn and be able to apply the material. The way he explains things so effortlessly is incredible. As for DiffE class, he does expect you to know Calc 1, Calc 2, and algebra rules. He has videos on iLearn for integration. If you ever get to take his class, shut up and take it.
Dr. Sam is the greatest professor to exist. He has many great stories to tell. He loves his students and wants every single one of them to succeed. I will say his tests do not have gimme questions. He taught the students the material and he expects them to know it. If you do the practice problems, you will succeed. If you can, take his class.
Great teacher highly recommend him
Easily my favorite math teacher He likes to challenge you, but gives you more than enough resources to understand the topics. After class, he was always more than willing to explain topics unrelated or beyond the coursework if I asked him to. He will never get mad at any question regardless of how basic it is. Always answers emails within 24 hours.
Dr. Sam is an amazing teacher. He will challenge and push you, but when you leave his class you WILL know Calc 2. There is a lot of homework that isn't for a grade, but if you want to do good in the class you NEED TO DO THE HOMEWORK. I would take Dr. Sam a thousand times over. He truly cares about his students and your success. 10/10 teacher.
If you are someone who learns by doing, you'll love him! The way he teaches is amazing, and very in depth. Before I took his class, I didn't have the greatest background in trigonometry and wasn't great at algebra either, but through practicing his problem sets, and by working on the whiteboards in class, I was able to excel in this class!
Overall a great professor. Sometimes, though, he will be in a bad mood or something after class or during his office hours and provide little help for your questions. This only happened once or twice the whole semester though. He assigns ungraded homework for practice, just make sure you do EVERY SINGLE QUESTION because his tests are HARD.
Professor Sam's MATH2120 class is challenging but rewarding. His explanations are clear, and he provides ample practice problems. Staying on top of the work and using resources like unstuckstudy can really help. Overall, a great class with a fantastic professor.
Dr. Sam is the best calculus 2 professor at Tech. His class consists of 4 tests and 4 quizzes, and there is no homework. He posts all of his lectures online and practice problems to go with them, and if you don't do the practice problems, you will fail the exams. Loved him!
Dr. Narimetla wants his students to do well in the classroom. He provides lecture videos and practice problems with solutions for students to work. He answers questions via email, office hours, or after class. He is picky about formatting of your work on tests, but he addresses how he wants you to format questions in class. Would take him again!
I am astounded by all of the great reviews on here as he is the single worst professor I have ever had. He picks favorites with those who do will, luckily I was one of them, but if you're not, he will not help you. He tears down your confidence the entire semester just to be nice at the very end. Tests are so difficult even when you study hours.
Dr. Nerimetla is the best math professor I've ever taken. I'm doing better in calculus 2 than I ever did in cal 1 simply because he can explain the concepts so well. His grading is tough but it's 100% fair and he warns you about what he will take points off for when grading. If you go to class and do the practice problems, you will be fine.
Very clear on what he wants from you. Tests/quizzes are created from practice problems or problems he shows you in class. If you show up to class, he will often tell you when a problem he's doing will/won't be on your test. DO THE PRACTICE PROBLEMS. MULTIPLE TIMES. The people who do not fail. They are "optional" but not if you want a good grade.
He is very clear and direct about his expectations, and provides a lot of practice problems and resources to help you succeed. He doesn't make his class easy. Very good professor.
Dr. Narimetla is such a genuine person and wonderful teacher. His test are hard but fair. He teaches the material very well. He cares for each of his students and wants them to do well. Be prepared to study about 20-30 hours per week. But I highly suggest you take him. If you try in his class, he will be more generous with your final grade.
The single best professor I will probably ever have. His way of explaining things allows everybody to get the concept very quickly. If ever someone doesn't get the concept he quickly notices and walks them through it. The class is pretty difficult in terms of how hard the tests are but he gives you plenty of resources to do well on them.Take him!
Dr. Narimetla, despite being pretty difficult, is my favorite professor ever. If you put in the time and really study the material, you will make a decent grade in this class. He loves to see improvement through the semester. He is really funny and cares about every student. If you can take him, DO IT!!
Dr. Narimetla has been the best professor I have ever had. This was the first semester he has ever taught Engineering Economy and knows the subject like he has been teaching it for 20+ years! His lectures are very clear and helpful, and his quizzes/tests are very similar to the homework! 10/10 professor and I wish I could have him for more classes!
Dr. Sam is the best professor I've had in college. Had him for calc 2 and differential equations. Definitely know your trig identities. His tests are hard but fair if you do the practice problems he gives.
Went in a scared and timid Calc 1 student. Exited a heroic Calc 2 warrior. This class is hard period. But simply put in the work to do all the given practice problems (with solutions) and you will succeed. Studied ~3 hours a day, 4-6 days a week, as someone not good in math. That got me multiple 100's on tests and quizzes. Narimetla is my fav ever!
Dr. Narimetla is a very good lecturer, and his tests are very fair. Get ready to KNOW your trig identities, and do all the practice problems, then this class will be a breeze!
