This teacher knows his stuff and makes it understandable.
He'll show you the way to solve a problem by the book, then show you his own way, the Sam Rodgers Special, which will just confuse you even more, as you'll try to mix the two methods when trying to solve a problem. A good calculator won't save you here.
....teaches on many levels so he knows what is taught in next level courses........breaks problems down to help you understand them unlike some MVC professors who assume you know it already in developmental courses....
Very confusing
He might know his Math...but his attitude stinks. He is very sarcastic, and does not like when you ask questions after he asks If you have any questions. He wants everybody on the same level at all times...very arrogant. But most people take him because he is usually the only Stats teacher.
GREAT TEACHER!! dunno wat all these other ppl r talkin about..he let u use all of the notes on the test..helps u out a lot..ya he does have a little attitude problem but he gets over it fast..u just have to go to class and learn..only easy stat teach i kno of so go take him..it cant get any easier than this..so take him..good luck
Attitude problem? What attitude problem? He always tried to be helpful, and I could tell that he was worried that everyone could understand. All tests are scantron. Very easy. Only thing that I didn't like was when I asked a question, he was too worried I didn't understand and would explain too much. But that's better than explaining too little.
Dr. Rodgers is a GREAT teacher. He is the best math teacher I have ever had. Dr. Rodgers breaks problems down step by step so that it will be easier for you to understand. Everyday before each class period he answers any questions on homework problems that he has given.I would suggest anyone taking math to take him.
Great teacher - I learned so much in his Statistics class. Dr. Rodgers really knows what he's talking about, and enjoys teaching it. His "Sam Rodgers Specials" made this class relatively painless. Open book/open note tests, but you need to attend class regularly and do the homework if you want to do well. Really glad I took Stats from him."Shazam!"
Very easy class. I passed with a A. But I'm good with numbers so yea. Great teacher!
He made the material easy to understand and the class was designed to make you learn the material. Look for his "Sam Rodgers Specials"!
Dr Rogers is awesome, math is not my strong point but with his "Sam Roger Specials" It was a breeze! He is absolutely the best math instructor I've ever had
One of the best math teachers I have had. He is EXTREMELY clear and easy to understand. He makes what could be intimidating statistics seem easy and common sense. He's no-nonsense about his class, but his open book/open note tests show that he wants you to succeed if you've been attending and doing the homework. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. "Shazam!"
The class is easy to pass, but if you have any questions for the professor himself, you might as well have a drill sargent yelling at you because he answers in the most arrogant way.
I took his fast track math and he's and excellent math teacher. One of the best I've had since I've been in school my entire life. Sam Rodger specials easier to understand than the books instruction. Only take 4 test and he drops the lowest grade. He does NOT have an attitude problem either. Guess some people are just to sensitive.
I have him for math and he is a very good teacher who knows his material, but his attitude at times is a little harsh.I know this because my classmates even said so. Maybe its because we are his 1st class of the day! But he is still a good teacher which is the most important thing.
Great instructor. Knows his material. He makes you understand. He does have a little attitude but not a big deal. Easy A if you try. If you struggle with MAth you might have a hard time which is why you need to be there evry day!!!
He is an awesome teacher, I would highly recommend him for college algebra 1314.
must take his class if u wanna pass math
GREAT PROFESSOR. ABSOLUTELY THE BEST ON CAMPUS.
Dr. Rodgers is not arrogant, but his patience is short, and he will get angry if you make silly mistakes. Show your work on all your tests, do it exactly how he shows you in class or he will take off. Not an easy A, but an A is possible.
If you have any problems with math DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!! The notes are great but the test are not. I wish I would have known this before i wasted my time and money on this class only to retake it again.
Dr. Rodgers is a great prof. He explains things in very simply. Also like to provide step by step solutions to solve your problems. Funny little sayings. Do the homework or at least attempt it. Prefers students use graphing calculators, it makes your life so much easier. Test reviews are very helpful, so don't miss those. Highly recommend.
He was a really good teacher. He explains the problems well. The exams are on what he teaches that week. It wasn't an easy A but I made it.
Awesome class!!! Took statistics just for fun, and he made it very interesting and easy. Do your homework and go to class, you'll make an easy A.
SHAZAM !!!! Dr.Rodgers is the best. Prior to this statistic class I had no math history. Dr. Rodgers is great do exactly what he instructs you to do an you will get an A. Just remember to follow his Sam Rodgers specials. If I can make an A+ anyone can.
best math teacher ever!!! i hate math so much and still managed to get an A he is very helpful and very easy to learn with!
Not the greatest math teacher at all. He explains the problems WAYY TOO FASTTT!!! He zooms through and if you ask him to re-explain, he tells you NO, and to go to the math center. Not helpful at all. If you dont understand math, don't take him!
Rodgers is a great teacher. I took him for statistics and really enjoyed it. It is very important to go to class and take notes. If you miss lecture you will be lost. I definitely recommend taking Rodgers, I worked hard and made an A and am sure anyone can too as well.
I took Dr. Rodgers for statistics and loved it. Attendance is mandatory to do well; go to class and take notes and you will rock the tests! He's a great profesor!
This guys shows you short cuts(sam rodgers specials), lets you use your calculator(TI83 is a God-send), if you are taking stats let's you use your calculator, notes and book. People who rate him bad want to be given an A and not work for it. Also, ask for Juan in the learning center
The only way you can fail this class is if you don't attend! Go to class, take good notes and an A will come :) He lets you use your book and notes for the short tests and he is extremely helpful. Very jolly too
This teacher is very into math and explains things very well. He will answer questions asked, and he gives you "Rogers" specials that help you with different things in math. I would recomend him!
First class with him was Algebra. Math is not my strength! I had such a good experience I also took his statistics class. Be prepared to go to class, pay attention - especially to the Sam Rodgers Specials, and take good notes. If you do those things you will do fine in his class. His classes are not "easy" but he is a really good teacher.
He is super nice, I took him for two classes because I liked him so much the first time. The only grades are the tests, so as long as you pass the tests you will pass the class.
Rodgers is GREAT!Very intelligent, helpful, and understanding individual! No mandatory HW, all you have to do is take good notes, study hard, and pass 3 out of 4 (20 question) exams!TI-83 calculator can be use for test!I extremely recommend you get one for this class if you don't have one already! He teaches both by hand & calculator method! Easy!=)
Dr. Rodgers is an awesome Stats professor. All you have to do is come to class, take notes, and do all the homework he assigns. The Sam Rodgers Special and your TI-83 calculator is the key to passing all his 3 test. Test 4 is optional. I highly recommend his class. He is clear and easy to understand. SHAZAAM!!!
Great Instructor. He gives you good notes that make it easier for you to learn. I would recommend him to anyone. He also teaches you easier ways of learning the material that aren't in the book.Once again, Awesome Instructor!
Dr. Rodgers is a great professor. In order to pass his STATS class, you must go to class every day and do the practice homework. If you don't, you will not understand a thing that's on the 3 tests.I got an A, but that's because i took test 4 which was optional.
This guy is your best choice!!! Dr. Rodgers is the best teacher I have EVER had in Math. I have ADHD. His teaching style is the most well ordered and easy to understand I have ever experienced. If you learn what he tells you that you need in the first 2 weeks you will get an A. He explains EXACTLY what you need to know for the test. He is an INCRE
He is not arrogant he just expects you to understand basic math concepts. He is an enthusiastic teacher and I personally find him funny. He knows his subject extremely well. I HIGHLY ROCOMMEND THIS PROF. Everyone who has a problem with math should take “The Sam Rodgers’ Special”.
He is amazing! I highly recommend this prof for college algebra! Just take your notes, practice hw problems and you'll do good on your test!
Rodgers' class is really easy. In fact, it's deceitfully easy. He makes his class seem so easy that you get a sense of false confidence before taking his tests. Maybe he just didn't like me (though I wouldn't know why because I never said a word in his class) but it seemed like he took a lot of unnecessary points off of my tests for no reason.
I totally recomend this teacher. He has his "Sam Rodger" techniques to help you out solve a problem. Even though I didn't pass it because I did't study, I would recommend him to anyone!
Take good notes; Pay attention to the Sam Rodger Specials; Practice the problems = A as a grade. Dr. Rodgers is an excellent teacher.
Dr. Rodgers is awesome. He has a way to simplify even the most confusing math. DO NOT miss any of his classes, you will be lost. And whatever you do, don't take the rope he sets out (do your homework).
I made a 97 overall grade in this class. I showed up every day, and crammed right before test. I didn't touch the homework until day before the tests and I am terrible at math. He has been the only math teacher that has made math easy. I have taken him several times. I wish he taught every math course. I would highly recommend him!
He tells you exactly how to pass his class. He knows math very well but everytime a student asked for help he seemed aggitated to answer condescending and most of the time did not allow students to finish their questions. I passed his class but would not take again. Not too impressed with his attitude.
Amazing. He teaches you all kinds of interesting tricks that make math fun. This is seriously the first time I remember understanding algebra this well. That said, he can be very rude whenever you ask him for help. I don't think he means to be that way; he just has a hard time empathizing with his students. I'd still recommend taking his classes.
It is in your best interest to always attend lecture. He shows you how to solve a problem, with a TI 83/84 calculator, and does practice problems. Keep all your notes. You are allowed to use your notes, book, and calculator on the tests. Homework is not graded but I suggest you do them because they will help you on the test.
I hate/suck at math but this class was easy. 4 grades all tests (w/ calculator) of 20 multiple choice ques. If you do well on the first 3 you don't need the final. Lowest grade dropped.Teaches you how to do problems with th calculator and by hand. He'll assign problems from book to do at home and will go over the ones people ask for the next time.Doesn't pickup hw. He gives review prob. Week in advance and goes over them the class before test day whih helps a lot. No class test day.
Loved his class. Got a perfect score in every test. very organized
He was very nice and explained problems very well. The semester I took him I was taking 5 classes and working full time ended up having to drop his class to make time for everything else. Overall though I would take him again. Also what he goes over in class is what will be on test.
He is a good teacher but he goes to fast. Take him if you're not a vision learner since he tends to talk fast and blocks the board with his body. Overall, he is a very good teacher.
Took Samuel Rodgers for Spring 2014 & thought it was an easy class,he explains how to do the problems very clearly & he tells you exactly whats on the test without giving you any surprises, teaches you by calculator (will need a TI-84), you have 4 tests (fourth test is optional) and each test consists of 20 questions , got a 98! Great teacher!
Took him this Summer II and was pretty content with how he explained all of the teachings. He doesn't teach straight from the book but assigns homework to help you out with the test (which helps a lot). This is coming from someone who isn't fond of math but I have to say he has made me fond of math. "Shazam!" (his words)
I've always had weak math skills so I was sure to be early to have time to study before class and to take notes. It seems as if the test were harder than the notes and some of the wording on test was confusing. If you are good at math you will do well but if you struggle I suggest taking math over the long semester. He had an attitude a few times
I hate math, I am horrible at it, but this class was not bad at all. Mr. Rodgers clearly explained step by step everything in his lectures, I loved it because this is my weakest subject. He was very helpful. If Math is not your deal, take this Guy! Would take him again if I could.
I love this class man he was of the chain youm saying. I was so bad at math I use to think 2+2=5. But now I know the right answer is 4. I thank him for making me start and teaching me how to add.
Rodgers is a good teacher. That being said he has some weak points, -He lectures a little fast -Scolds(unintentionally) when student ask questions. -Forgetful Good guy.
Dr. Rodgers was a very good professor. His teaching pace was very good. He would make sure to go over things with you if you did not understand. If you do not like math or struggle with it, I really recommend him! Just make sure to show up, take notes and ask lots of questions!
Dr. Rodgers is an excellent professor. Lectures are well organized, very detailed with the notes he provides. Don't miss class or you will miss out. Assigns homework, doesn't grade, this is for you to ensure that concepts are mastered, he allows class time for HW questions. 4 Tests, lowest one is dropped. Provides Test Review before each test.
Prof Rodgers is not easy to say the least, but he is good at what he does. 4 tests lowest is dropped. He lectures really fast and can be impatient when explaining problems but does explain. He's a good professor but I didn't really click with his teaching style so I didn't do well in the class. With that being said if you're good at math take him.
Prof Rodger is a good teacher but I don't really recommend him if you will take higher math classes that requires understanding of concepts. He uses too much a graphic calculator to solve certain problems.
Tough grader, Impatient when you ask him a question. Take his class if you're a fast learner. Also if you're excelled with graphic calculators, then take his class. Fast paced class. Be ready when he first begins because it's a lot of material to grasp on. It was sadly too fast for me and I had tons of questions to ask.
The Class was was Excellent my favorite math teacher. I love math ounce again. I you can sign up for him hes the best on the campus. Expect homework every time you meet. The work isn't hard do the homework and review based on homework you will pass. Your Will get 3 test the whole semester with optional fourth test. Its an easy class take him.
Professor Rodgers is one of the best math teachers at MVC. His lectures are very thorough. He provides step by step procedures("Sam Rodgers special") by hand and by calculator to get you through equations. Expect to receive homework every night, but will not be turned in; as it is for your benefit. Do the HW, attend his review night A! "SHAZAM"!
I took his class because he is the only math professor that doesn't use my math labs! 3 test and then the optional final, test are 20 questions pretty easy if you study and do all the homework, don't think you can just do the study guide and take the test. He really did help make math easier for me. TAKE HIM, he's great.
4 tests including the final, he drops the lowest one so you may not even have to take the final. Lectures the whole class period so you will probably fail if you don't show up. Not hard to follow the lecture however he does get frustrated when people ask questions. He assigns homework, not for a grade just for practice (DO THE HOMEWORK)
He is amazing. Makes you feel like you knew math all along ! Looooove his class. always recommend to other students.
He is a awesome professor, do not skip classes because you going to lose important information. Be on time, do your homework get into Math and you will fine.
Although he knows and understands what he is doing, he can become a little frustrated with questions given by students. Gives good examples by using life experiences. Must have a calculator to pass. Only 4 test and drops the lowest grade. Would recommend to an extent.
The only grades you have are 4 tests and he drops your lowest grade.
Mr. Rodgers is probably the best and easiest professor in the math department. If you pay attention and follow all his steps, you'll pass. Not much of studying is required. Just know how to do the work. He is very funny as well, and his classes were not boring like most professors. I recommend him to everybody. 4 tests only and drops lowest grade.
He is a very good professor. the course is easy to understand, but you have to study his steps. Easy class just as long as you follow what he is doing. The stuff he teaches on the board will all be in the tests. Shows up to class in a good mood and makes students feel interested.
Only 4 tests make up the course and he will drop the lowest grade of out those exams. This class is straight forward. Try to be there everyday, as he covers examples from previous homework. He is a great professor that is always in a good mood.
Summer stats class. Got A's on all exams because I did ALL his hw & studied them ALL. Drops 1 out of 4 exams. He's a funny, energetic man but he raises his voice & gets irritated when people ask him things he goes over. You need a TI 83/84 for his class & used a textbook to learn. No online math program. You have to follow his steps to easily pass.
Dr. Rodgers is an awesome math professor. He really breaks down everything as if everyone in class is retarded. If you are good at math he will make you very concrete. If you suck at math he will make sure every last step is thoroughly covered so you aren't lost.
He is an amazing professor and really cares about his students as well as lectures. I took him for statistics so you have to put in work otherwise you will fail. If you have any questions ask him he will answer them and make sure you understand the material before moving on. DO NOT miss class after the first test as you will struggle to catch up.
EASY! I haven't been in school in almost 10 years, so I went into this class afraid! I am horrible at Math. He made it easy to understand, lots of lectures and notes. But only 4 grades the whole semester, and he drops the lowest grade! No homework mandatory to turn in, just for practice. Have made an A on the tests. Not required to take final test.
Pay attention! He makes it look easy, but it's very tricky. I'm old so I struggled. Anyway, the C I received gave me my Associate of Applied Science Degree so I'm happy!!!
Homework is not graded, but I would HIGHLY recommend doing it. He makes it really easy to understand problems, but you have to be attentive. If you're struggling and miss a few classes, it might be hard to pass. Best part about his class... final is optional. As long as you do the homework and the reviews, you should pass, and even get an A.
He makes math easy! He will clear up any questions you have about math! Any!!! He is not slow nor fast but at a steady pace! He is clear and straightforward! He will teach you methods that are easier and faster than the book. REAL GEM OF A PROFESSOR!!!
I wish I could Re-take his class Professor Rodgers is truly the best professor in the math department .. The work is not that easy but he explains every step in detail so youll get it!! MUST TAKE !!
This was a solid stats class. I received an A. Best advice I can give is to take thorough notes and complete all of the homework so that when you take your test, you will be well prepared. He was a little on the agitated side during class as he's probably been teaching this course for over 25+ years lol so try not to ask stupid questions lol
You have 3 exams and the final is optional if you have a high grade in that class. He is little agitated... do not ask stupid questions! He is funny and gives tricks and tips for the problems. His exams are not hard as he goes over the review which is basically the test. I DONT KNOW HOW ELSE YOU CANNOT GET AN A!?
He's one of the best math teachers at MVC! He explains everything clearly and also helps out his students. I would definitely recommend taking his class!
Dr. Rodgers is an AMAZING professor. Lectures are very organized and put into easy to follow steps. Homework 10-20 problems is given (optional) for practice at home. DO THE H.W the same day! 4 test are given and he drops the lowest. No extra credit and If I'm not mistaken calculator is allowed on test. You get the grade you work for!
This was my second course with Dr. Rodgers. I was pretty nervous about statistics until I found out it was Rodgers who was teaching it. Sit in the front, take thorough notes, and do the homework! This will help you out on the exams! The test are OPEN BOOK Best 3 out of 4, drops lowest grade. Pay attention and always ask questions! Love this guy!
Honestly, idk how i passed, I missed a lot of days and NEVER did the hw. but the test was open book and i always went to the review days. Personally i felt like i didnt deserve to pass, however i realized that I passed even with barely going simply bc each lecture was so good. he gets a little annoyed but overall good teacher, you will learn a lot
Professor Rodgers was very good about walking us through the various calculator processes & what was expected on tests. However, he didn't take enough time to explain the concepts & just expected us to regurgitate exactly what he had taught us. Take notes on everything he writes in class & you'll do just fine since tests are open book & notes.
Sam Rodgers was a great choice for statistics. The key to success is being present in class, taking great notes and paying attention. My A was easily attainable and I didnt have to take the final. I did all the homework practice questions and that worked out to my advantage. He may get agitated every now and then but its worth it. Good luck yall
Super easy class, consists of 4 exams and drops the lowest graded exam. All his lectures are old school and textbook based. No online work. All you need is your presence to take notes, his textbook, and a calculator. His exam reviews are very similar to the real exams. He may become a little impatient when you ask for help to understand a problem.
If you struggle with math DON'T take him! You can tell the students were scared to ask him a questions because he'll put you on the spot and will get irritated. He doesn't explain the problems well. But if you still want to take him then make sure you do the hw and go to the math lab.
I decided to take his class since I saw that he allowed us to use notes for our exams. The notes hardly ever matched the exam questions. You have to pay attention to his wording or he'll count off points. Sometimes he becomes irritated when you ask him questions too. Although, he is a great professor.
The book is heavily used, but he goes over everything very slowly and precisely trying to make sure everyone understands. He is a nice professor and this class is an easy A but he is a little boring because of how slow he goes. The only grades he puts in are the 3 tests and a 4th test is optional because he drops a test grade.
He doesn't use my math lab. All of his coursework come from the textbook. He gives HW/Test Review, and tests are easy if you attend class and work on the papers he gives at the begg. of the semester. Really recommend!!
Professor Rodgers is a solid choice if you're not a math whiz. He takes the time to ensure each person understands. His class is slow-paced and he cares about his students. The downside is that the only grades he puts in the system, so if you are not a good test-taker, you won't do well in the course.
LOVE this professor. This class was one of my first ever college courses and he made it a breeze. 3 tests in all, and he lets you use your calculator, while also teaching you the methods by hand. Listen in class and don't ask stupid questions, he will make you feel silly for doing so. He CRACKED me up all semester. Love love love him.
Professor Rodgers is a great at teaching students math. I am not sure if he has an online class because he said it for himself ("I am old-school"). He does not grade any homework, but that does not mean you should lack on your study time. He explains the material very well for students to understand. And he also drops down your lowest grade.
