I LOVE SAMMY BABY!!! take this class... the time may suck but it goes by so fast. He has a lot of energy and tells a lot of jokes. He even sings on the last day. AWSOME!!

What can I say that hasn't been said? Sammy Baby is the best! You end the semester in song and to lunch at Bill Bateman's. He makes you work (visuals, notecards), you can't just go up there and give a speech off the top of your head, but class is so fun and worth sitting for three hours.

Definitely take COMM131 w/Sam; it'll be the most interesting by far. However, he does make lots of sleazy comments to the girls. He's just joking of course, but it's tiresome after a bit. Sam's very nice and cares a lot @ the students, but grades on the first 3 speeches aren't objective; everyone gets high Bs unless they screw up.DONT BUY THE BOOK!

He brings a upbeat pace to the teaching style at TU and he keeps you alive and laughing and most of all this guy can make a 3 hour class seem like a 50 minute class. Best teacher I have ever had. Makes himself available to call at home if you need help. Gives everyone high B's on speeches. Assigns group project speech, it really sucks but everyone in our class got the same grade. Sammy baby makes this class so much fun and go by so quickly. Best teacher ever..definately take him.

Great Teacher request him at ALL COSTS. I actually had tons of fun in this class and never missed it, by choice. Recommended to all my friends. Funny, great guy, loves what he does! Never used the book so DONT buy it but still learned a lot. Speeches were good topics and actually really fun to do. Take it with friends, strangers- awesome class.

The best class I've ever taken here at Towson, without a doubt. I hate public speaking and was dreading this class, but it was a blast. You will get to know everyone in the class, which is a welcome change. Never used the textbook and couldn't sell it back, so I'd say don't buy it.

Sammy Baby was the best teacher I've ever had. By the end of the semester we had all become a family and almost cried when we had our last class. I became such a better speaker and by the end I spoke about one of the most personal incidents that was hard for me to talk about. He makes you feel comfortable and is ALWAYS willing to help. AMAZING!

Professor Rubin is an easy teacher. Attendance is mandatory (except for three classes). He is a fair grader, speeches are easy - tests are a walk in the park. (Don't buy the $100+ text book... NOT necessary. He'll tell you to get it, don't just take notes on lecture days.) He's very nice. If you are a Politically Correct - Dont Take.

Best class I have ever taken in my life. Took it on Thursday nights for 2 hours and 40 minutes and it was way worth it. Sammy Baby is the greatest alive, hands down, and is absolutely HILARIOUS. There 3 required speeches--persuasive, how to, and informative--but you can talk about anything. One girl did a how-to on putting on condoms. Sammy Baby is great and if he taught any other courses, I def sign up for them all!

The class itself is unstructured in that the book is unneeded. He gives you what you need when you need it. It's more get up there and present. Sam's quirky, but overall a good guy - you need to have someone quirky to teach the class and not make it unbearable. The entire class bonding is a bit of a fairy tale, but you do bond with some people.

Rubin is the best professor at Towson let alone for 131. The class right to the point and clear. He is extremely fun and energetic and WILD! All speeches very free on guidelines and only 2 very easy tests. SAMMY BABY is where it's at and the nicest guy out there. For those reasons alone you should take him but beyond that he knows his stuff.

Sammybaby is AMAZING. Like everyone else said, you will get over your fears of public speaking. At first he gives everyone the same grade, but as the semester progresses, they get higher. However, don't buy the book, just borrow it from someone for the final because he never uses it.

Initially thought that the teacher was kind of weird. But as time went by he is really good. Crystal clear on assignments and it shouldn't be too difficult to get at least a B. Great teacher overall

This was easily my favorite class of the semester, even though I had it as a night class. Sammy baby easily helps you get over any fear of public speaking you have, will get you to laugh at yourself and others, and just enjoy a generally boring class. Midterm/finals were a piece of cake, dont get the book, you dont need it. this class was awesome!

Mandatory attendance. You don't need the book at all. BEST professor ever. I hated public speaking before his class but I was actually very sad when his class ended!! MUST TAKE! You won't be disappointed.

One thing for sure is that you will laugh a lot in the class. 4 speeches; demonstration,informative, group speech and a persuasive speech. Tests(2) are true or false and multiple choice. It does take a little effort to get an A. Do not get the book.

Not a traditional professor! Hilarious. Huge personality. Really works to make sure class is like a family. You can call him whenever to ask for help with assignments. Grading seemed tough at first but he came around at the end. Seemed to have given final grade for progress 4 speeches, 2 tests. DON'T BUY BOOK

This class is an easy A and really fun. You really become a family with your class over the semester. Sam is a little overkill with Dad jokes and he makes some rude comments when he thinks he's being funny. If you're comfortable with public speaking this will be a breeze and if not it'll teach you to be.

It was never a drag going to his class. He was a very quirky man and always tried to make everything fun. The assignments were never hard and you always had ample time to get it done. You don't need the book and he basically gives away the answers to quizzes. Missing class is really not an option but this was one of the most memorable i've taken.

That is not only a class, it's a family that everyone could be together to say whatever they want to say. Everything in this class was unbelievably amazing that I wish I could be there for the whole 4 years. Don't consider his class as a class, consider his class as a stage to shine. what you would learn is totally beyond speeches.

If you ever have to take COMM 131 at TU, TAKE SAM!! He is he best COMM professor at TU and the class challenges you to learn to properly speak which is why you're taking the class in the first place. There are only two exams (Mid-term & Final). Everything else is speech based and its super easy but also informative. TAKE THIS SECTION!!
