In a word: Classy. Sam Williams is everything you could want in a theatre teacher. He has very clear objectives, teaches with enthusiasm, and will pull even the most lackluster of talents to their highest potential. While he has his limits, he makes it very clear where they are and how to steer clear of them. Beyond dynamic, he's made out of magic.

I would find an easier teacher. Teachers comments can be insulting, quite a few analysis papers with grading criteria but even if you write well if you want to pass the class, you have to change your writing strategy to fit his idea of a good paper. Meaning put many unnecessary spaces between everything. A demanding class. You wont learn much.

Professor Williams assigns many papers based off reading specific plays. His feedback can be confusing so be sure to schedule an office hours visit and get clarification. Despite the massive amount of papers, there are no tests, no final exam, no set class time.

Sam is a great teacher for acting, he can be a little tough but it comes from a place of wanting the best for the student. I wasn't prepared for how intensive this class would be but in the end it's very rewarding. Study for the quizzes and do the extra credit and you should do fine. He hands out everything in hard copies, so get a binder.
