Professor Fletchor is very kind, caring and sweet but when it comes down to teaching, her method is very monotonous. Her class is very lecture heavy and her lectures are essentially reading off of powerpoints. If thats how you learn, then I would suggest this class. Theres are quizzes every week that are online and her tests are somewhat difficult.
Do not take Fletchers class freshman year. It is not a good way to start your college experience. Her class is extremely lecture heavy. She reads directly off the powerpoint and provides no further explanation of the topic. She also has a bland personality, making lectures even more boring.
She reads straight off her powerpoint in lecture. I have not directly learned anything from Fletcher herself. I say attendance is mandatory only because she will randomly give out extra credit in class. You have to do a lot of self teaching or tutroing in order to understand topics. Her tests are very hard.
this is Dr. Fletcher's first year teaching so you don't have much to reference to for tests. She's not as bad as people say she is, she wants to help you pass and tries to help as much as possible if she sees the class is struggling. tests aren't that bad if you study and go to SI! attend class for extra credit
She reads off her slides. No point in going to her class. Go to A plus to even pass her exams.
Her class is very lecture heavy and she reads off her slides. She is very caring and genuinely wants her students to succeed. Very willing to help you. She will randomly gives extra credit for attending class. You can pass the tests without attending class (simply look at slides), as they are very doable if you put in the TIME to understand it.
I only go to class for the extra credit at this point. She reads off the slides so I don't actually learn anything during lecture. If you want to learn for exams, definitely go to A plus cause that's how I'm getting good grades on exams. I wouldn't say she's a horrible prof, but everything I've learned about BIO111 has been from going to A plus.
Dr. Fletcher seems really passionate about what she teaches, especially when it comes to genetics. Her lectures are PowerPoint based, but she elaborates her points so they are easier to understand. She gives out extra credit points randomly so attend class whenever you can. Overall a good professor.
I honestly don't pay attention in class and tend to zone out because majority of the time she just reads her slides. For that reason, I don't really understand what I'm learning until I start studying 2 weeks before the exam. To do well on the exams, I suggest reading the textbook.
I would say take her at your own risk. She's a new professor and lecture heavy. Extra credit is given out randomly. I would recommend doing a lot of self-studying, tutoring, and attending SI sessions in order to get a good grade.
Class isn't that hard all you have to do is go through and learn all the information in the class lecture slides and each test is an easy A. Also grading is pretty relaxed, in order to get an A all you need to do is average around 85 percent per test, assuming you do average in lab and all the homework. Don't waste ur money on tutoring and study.
Do not recommend taking Fletcher's class unless biology comes easy to you. She reads off of her slides for lectures and expects you to remember all of the specifics of all of the topics for tests. Be prepared to study a lot and basically teach yourself. Tests are very hard especially because there are no reviews.
Dr. Fletcher makes her own slides from the textbook and they're very detailed. She posts them so you can always go back to read them and study them, which the tests are almost exactly like the slides. Show up to class b/c she offers a good amount of extra credit. She is a good professor and knows the material well and cares for students and grades.
Dr. Fletcher is an awful professor. She is very monotonic and reads directly off of the powerpoint. She shows up to class with a bad attitude, especially on test days. The only reason I'm doing well is because of A Plus tutoring and only show up to class for the extra credit/LC. Take her at your own risk.
Dr Fletcher is an awesome professor. I took her 8am, and enjoyed the class. If you have a good understanding of basic biology or took AP bio you are set up well for this class. She also does extra credit once a week solely based on participation, which is a major grade boost. However, she can get monotone during lecture, so try to take a non 8am.
Class and test distribution are handled poorly. She is moody during lectures. Lecture slides are filled with unimportant information, and it can be difficult to tell what of the large amount of info actually matters. Some should consider using the textbook with her slides. Go to class for bonus points and ignore her lectures. Tests are a gamble.
The tests are oddly specific and require you to take studied material and apply it theoretically. If Biology doesn't come easy to you, you will struggle with this course. Dr. Fletcher is very nice and gives out extra credit, but goes very fast in lecture.
Fletcher tends to read off the lecture slides, and she can get monotone, especially in the mornings (I took an 8am). The tests stick pretty closely to what is covered in class and on the homework. She uses LC for extra credit. To do well in the class, you have to teach yourself a lot of the material.
She would read off the powerpoint slides, talk really fast, and tends to arrive to class after 8:10 (Had 8ams ). She gave extra credit if you attend class. The test was based off lectures and were phrased that was confusing, which was reflected on the class average. In order to prepare yourself for the tests, you need to self teach yourself.
I had an 8 am. Honestly, I would rather listen to siri teach Biology than her. She reads directly from the powerpoints in a monotone voice. A student asked for a different example from the one on the slide and she pointed to the slide and said it was a good example. She does not give practice exams so you never know what to expect on them.
I made an A without any tutoring just by reviewing slides for memorizing and khan academy for understanding processes. There are 30 LC points extra credit randomly distributed if you show up to classes which really helps your grade. Also your lab TA matters a lot because lab is a significant portion of your grade.
I ended up with an A in class, but that is because of the fact that I took the time to study and understand the material myself. Her lectures were boring and she did not expand on anything on her slides, and the only reason I came to class was to earn LC extra credit points. Her tests are pretty straight forward though and never tricky.
TAMU doesnt do pluses or minuses. Anyhow, I made a 80 on my first exam purely by reading the chapters that Samantha told us would be on the exam, 80-90 pages? Same for the second exam but got a 63... 3rd decided to study the PP, failed again. Needed 0.8 points to get a B. Exams are all from an online source, yet claims to write them. Pathetic :
easy to get good grades, study the lecture and take notes and you will be fine. She gives LC pts.
Dr. Fletcher is a very nice woman, but a horrible professor. She can not teach at all- and speaks as if everyone is a biology major (which I admit many were). There are weekly problem sets and quizzes, and if you are like me and have no biology background then you spend A LOT of time studying. Would not recommend to anyone. Ever.
This was her first year teaching as a prof, sweet lady but not a great prof. Reads off slides & when you go to study them you don't know what to study because theres too much random info. Lots of free points with easy quizzes & pre-labs. Go to class, she does extra credit. Tests were unpredictable, you will spend a lot of time studying! Be prepared
Prof Fletcher is a nice lady, not a great prof. Try to stay away from her 8am as she can be really moody and impatient. Attendance is not mandatory, however shed give extra credits(LC) on random days so I recommend showing up to class. She states that her tests arent tricky, but that is not the case. Get ready to self teach/ watch khan academy
Does not explain information clearly or in depth. I would recommend just glancing at the learning objectives for each chapter then really spend time watching crash course and reading the text book to gather the information on your own. But do go to class because she gives LC points at the end of lectures.
Don't take this class, especially if you haven't taken AP bio in high school! I had her during her very first semester of teaching, so maybe that's why. Totally wrecked me. BUT, she does give a lot of extra credit. I had C's on all my tests, including the final but ended up with a B+ in class.
Dr. Fletcher is a great introductory biology professor! If you are looking to excel in this class, I would recommend reading the textbook on top of taking notes from her powerpoint slides, as some of her lectures do not go super in depth. She offers a ton of extra credit LC points on random days, so make sure you attend class!
Avoid Dr. Fletcher if you can, especially if you're not a bio major. She explains topics in a very vague sense and expects that her students have the same biology background that she does. Her lectures are BORING and iffy, but the exams are so specific. All around bad professor.
For an intro bio course, she doesn't really teach it like such. I went to class only for the random extra credit she'd give 1-2x/week, but eventually decided that was hardly worth it. Personally, I ended up learning the material better on YouTube. She says her exams aren't meant to trick you, but there were always a few questions that clearly do.
If you did not take AP Bio, her course will most likely be difficult for you. Bio is hard but she makes it even harder. I literally had to memorize every single slide and there were about 60-80 slides per chapter usually. She tests on small details too. She's a nice lady but she is not the best professor. If you do get her, get ready to READ!!!
Definitely read the textbook to get a really good understanding of the material and be sure to attend lectures because she offers extra credit through LC! Also attend the SI sessions too! If you can answer the SI questions with no help, you'll be prepared for her tests!
I took Dr. Fletcher for the fall 2019 semester without any background in Biology and passed with an A. I had her 8 am Tues. Thurs class, so if I were to retake her I'd change that. Show up to lecture, take good notes, and study outside of class if you want to pass. For further clarification of material, the SI sessions and textbook pdf are free.
Mrs. Fletcher was such a kindhearted teacher! I loved how she presented her lectures because they were easy to follow, and if you miss class she posts the slideshow so you can catch up and really not be behind at all. She made biology so nice! The tests are hard and you need to study but if you review the power points you'll be golden!
I honestly don't know why Dr Fletcher does not have better views. Her lectures are engaging, and while Biology is difficult to wrap your head around all of the concepts, she does a good job letting you know what you need to know and why. Her lectures are pretty engaging, and there is decent extra credit available. The textbook is also very helpful.
I had Dr. Fletcher in Fall 2019 and I loved her class. 8 AM was rough, but all her lectures were really informative and interesting. It's super important to attend lectures because she has extra credit opportunities and will tell you important information about the exams. You should also read the book, I think this is what helped me get an A.
fletcher was a pretty decent professor, but her lectures were very bland and i got easily bored. her tests are pretty standard to ap bio test questions, and they're all mc. she provides a practice test before each exam which was really nice, and although i wouldn't take her again i feel her teaching skills are still pretty solid.
She is very nice and gives helpful information. Even though I attended class online, I was able to follow the lecture and pass tests.
Dr. Fletcher is very sweet and truly wants her students to do well. Although she goes through the slides very quickly, she is always willing to help you if you just ask. She wants everyone to understand the concepts and understands that she covers a lot of material. Practice exams are helpful as well as looking over powerpoints for exams.
Dr. Fletcher is VERY passionate about biology. Her lectures are interesting and definitely easy to follow. Posts slides from lecture, textbook is helpful but can get by without it. Definitely would take again.
I think that overall, Fletcher was a good professor for an intro to bio class. Although attendance was not required, she gave out a lot of extra credit during class so it's best to show up. Her exams are straight forward as long as you look through the powerpoints.
Her teaching style is not very helpful, she just reads what's on the slides, but her tests are based on the slides. I found that studying the textbook and LEARNING OBJECTIVES before exams made the exams seem broad and easier. You can subscribe to LC for participation extra credit and labs are fairly easy if you pay attention.
Im not sure why Dr. Fletcher gets a bad wrap. Her lectures are powerpoint based and straightforward but it gets the job done. I though she explained topics well and she was always willing to answer questions. She offers about 20 points extra credit thru the LC so its best to show up and get the points. Her HW is easy and similar to the test.
Dr. Fletcher is honesty a really good choice for BIOL112. She is EXTREMELY caring and does her best to give you the resources to succeed. Attend lecture to receive extra credit points and use her slides to study for the exams. She always gives practice exams which help as well. She is super available to help anyone out .
I was scared of taking her class at first because of the reviews on here, but she was honestly one of my favorite professors. She goes fast during lectures because she has to cover all the material before the test, but she still manages to make sure that everyone is on the same page. Attend SI sessions, read the textbook, and do the LC credits.
Dr Fletcher is AMAZING. Good at explaining topics and easy to ask questions and receive a good answer. ATTEND CLASS: tests based off of slides (so textbook reading is supplemental) and up to 30 extra credit points for LC during class. Homework problem sets each week: you get three tries and open note. She is also so sweet during lectures! Take her!
Dr. Fletcher is an amazing professor! I was skeptical at first because of the ratings on here, but I found that her lectures were so easy to understand, and she gives examples that help you understand the material. The extra credit LC points are a HUGE grade booster. If you put in the work it is a relatively easy A.
Several opportunities to get help Gave many opportunities for extra credit Recorded all of her lectures and test reviews Listed reminders at the end of all of her lectures If you didn't take AP Bio, good luck Know your biology terms, turn in all of your work on time, and you're good
Professor was amazing in her lectures and honestly made this class super interesting. I found this class took up most of my time this semester, but I didn't really mind. Structured lectures cover what were on tests and there was a huge amount of extra credit given for those who participated in class. Would definitely take again.
I was skeptical of taking her because of the ratings she got but Im glad I did. She is very helpful. The class does have a lot of assignments but they arent hard and boost your grade. You do need to study for test (which are over lectures) but they arent bad. She gives a lot of extra credit which is very helpful so make sure you go to class.
Dr. Fletcher is amazing. There were some concepts that I just flat out did not understand in high school, but when she taught them, I understood completely. If you work hard throughout the semester, you won't have to do super well on the final. Attend Si sessions. Best recommendation possible.
Dr. Fletcher is an amazing professor for BIOL 111. She is so straightforward and to the point, and she makes sure that everyone does well on the exams! Show up to lecture because she offers a lot of extra credit through LC! I also found that going to SI sessions helped a lot. Dr. Fletcher is THE professor to take for BIOL 111. Solid choice, 10/10.
Dr. Fletcher is really caring and understanding professor. Her material was hard to understand only because I am not the greatest at biology. She takes her time to go back and really help her students understand topics if they're confusing. I would even take her again for BIOL 112 but she isn't teaching it next semester.
Show up to class because she offers extra credit through LC opportunities!
mainly graded on tests but there are lots of homework opportunities so do them well to cushion your grade. study hard and go to SI for test prep. I thought the lectures were fine and she wont test on material she hasn't gone over. lab isn't that bad. made a c on every test and still ended up with an a
Professor Fletcher is a mediocre choice at best for Biol 111. She wasn't terrible, she just wasn't my cup of tea. I went from passing to failing many times during her class.
I genuinely don't understand some of the poor reviews that have been left for Prof Fletcher. She is one of the kindest, most genuine teachers I've ever met. So much extra credit is offered (but you won't know when it's offered, which is why you have to go to class) and she offers SO MUCH FEEDBACK. also, all of the exam material is on the slides!!
Took this class 2019 fall, and it was hands down the worst class I have ever taken at this school. She is monotone and she rambles on remembering exactly what is on the slides and not explaining it in depth what so ever. The lab was tedious which I wasn't mad at just was mad at how terrible of a prof she is .
Dr. Fletcher is AMAZING. Her lectures are interesting and it's clear she wants every student to succeed! I thought the course was challenging but doable. If you don't leave studying until the last minute, attend lectures, and some SI sessions, you will be well prepared! I would recommend Fletcher 100%. (Lab is not fun but it depends on TA you get)
Dr. Fletcher was awesome! Bio is gonna be hard no matter what, but she taught well and was quick to answer questions. Go to class, LC points really help you out. Fletcher teaches to the test, lots of exam questions were pulled verbatim from the problem sets. My biggest gripe with this class was the online lab, but Fletcher herself was great.
I didnt really like this class because I didnt find the lectures very engaging, she obviously knows what shes talking about but I found the content confusing and very fast-paced. However, I feel like I had to put in minimal effort and I still did good, she is really sweet and gives a lot of extra credit so its easy to do well in this class.
Amazing teacher! Her lectures are very detailed but easy to understand and I have learned a lot. She cares about her students and wants to make sure we all do well. Lecture exams are easy to pass if you pay attention and take good notes however, attending review and SI sessions were definitely beneficial as well. Use multiple TA resources for labs.
Dr. Fletcher is great! Not a hard class but you do need to put in the work to do well in her class. Attendance is not mandatory but she does do extra credit on random days, so it is smart to go to class. She truly cares about her students and wants you to do well.
Dr. Fletcher is a great choice for this class! She shows that she genuinely cares for her students since the start of the semester. She's great at explaining concepts and will clear up any confusions that you have. She does offer extra credit which is great! Extra credit is offered during class so go to class!!
She wants everyone to understand lecture topics and is happy to answer questions. Some bonus is given with participation questions. She provides lecture power points before day of lecture. Never used the textbook just took notes over lecture. Tests are fair and easy if you study. Spends more time on complex topics and student friendly.
Dr. Fletcher was absolutely the best professor for biology 111! Her lectures were always easy to understand and she tells you what she tests on during her reviews & she gives practice exams. If you truly study and use the resources available, this class will be an easy A. Loved her as a prof she was always extremely nice!
Professor Fletcher is very helpful, theres a lot of information you need to know but if you study and understand the concepts its fine. She gives a lot of extra credit (half a letter grades worth), if people fail her class its because they dont do anything. All you need to do is go to class. Her exams aren't tricky and she gives practice exams.
I had to take Bio 111, and Dr. Fletcher was definitely a solid choice. It's not that difficult to get an A as long as you put in the time and effort. Her lectures are very informative.
Lectures were very informative and she was always willing to answer any questions you had. She went above and beyond to make sure you understood the material. Lots of extra credit points were given. Tests were very relative to lecture material and I did not have to read the textbook at all. She was my favorite professor I had this semester!
Lecture is not mandatory because she posts the lecture slides. Honestly the only reason I got a B+ was because of Crash Course & the Amoeba Sisters. Fletcher's lectures are basically her dumping info onto you, and you have to learn it on your own. Also, the lab was impossible online and the TA's were horrible. Lots of extra credit, you'll need it.
Very nice person, but doesn't teach a quarter of what is on the test.
Dr. Fletcher is nice but speaks too fast, doesn't clarify what will be covered on exams, & expects us to memorize the textbook to pass.
She posts the slides to all the lectures but you still have to go to class in order to understand what she wants you to understand for the test bc there is a LOT of information. Weekly problem sets, practice tests, and LOTS of extra credit means a good grade if you put in the work even if you do not understand absolutely everything.
Dr. Fletcher is an AWESOME professor! But be ready to study hard. You need to understand the material extremely well to do just fine on the exams.
I thought Fletcher was a good professor and the lectures were always very detailed, but they go pretty fast. Tests are easy if you study, and there isn't much homework, just make sure to attend all of your labs because there are tests in there as well.
You can tell Dr. Fletcher really cares about her students, and would actually work with you to bring up your grade. She talks so fast during lectures that it is almost impossible to write notes on what she is saying, but she does give out 15 points of extra credit, and my friends passed, but if you haven't take BIO in a while I wouldn't take her.
Dr. Fletcher is nice but speaks at the speed of light & rushes through material. Her class is a majority of teaching yourself the material & hoping for the best.
Dr. Fletcher is very engaging, and her lectures don't often get boring, despite being Bio. Attend all lectures, because you might get LC points (extra credit by being there, essentially). Her PP's are good, but take your own notes, as she doesn't go very fast. Usually the lecture before an exam, she'll start rushing, so look at the PP for that sect
GREAT prof. take her. Lectures are interesting. Gives lots of extra credit. Assignments are reasonable and geared towards helping students succeed.
Professor Fletcher is super nice and engaging. Her lectures arent too boring, but she goes pretty fast in order to get all the content in. She posts the notes and there arent too many assignments. The exams are pretty hard, so you really need to study the content as you learn it. She also gives lots of extra credit which really helps!
If you are able to understand the concepts of the material, you shouldn't have any issues in this class. Extra credit is offered - but you need to go to class for it. Lectures go fast, but the practice exams and review sessions help. Lab isn't difficult and the homework supplements the lectures and exams well. Everything you need is in the notes.
Dr. Fletcher has some of the easier tests and she pretty much reads off the slides so attendance isn't super important, but you can get up to 30 bonus points just for attending class so I wouldn't skip too much. she's pretty nice and doesn't teach too too fast, but she gives you more information that what you need for the test.
She reads the slides almost word for word, very rarely will get more specific so attendance isnt super needed. She does give extra credit that is super helpful for your overall grade but its in class ONLY. Her tests are awful, super inconsistent with her reviews.
I really enjoyed my class with Dr. Fletcher because you can tell she really cares about the success of her students. She does mainly just read off her slides so you do not really need to go to class but there is a lot of extra credit in class so I would attend! Biology is difficult but her tests are easy as long as you study hard.
She is a very kind person and offers credit but she was an AWFUL teacher. The exams were so vague and out of the box you could study and know the information hardcore and still fail. She offers 30 points of extra credit if you attend class though, which ended up saving my grade.
Dr. Fletcher is super sweet and if you actually go to office hours or talk to her after class she will help you a lot and give feedback. She offers 30 (test) points of extra credit back if you attend class and participate in LC sessions. BUT her content is extremely difficult. For test 2 she crammed a months worth of lecture into 2 classes :(
Dr. Fletcher is great. You can tell she actually cares about her students and she is accessible outside of class. LC extra credit can boost your test avg 30 pts if you're in class, so I recommend going. Provides slides and doesn't go too fast. Lots of material on exams, but formatting of exams is not too complicated. Not sure why her rating is low.
Fletcher is a solid choice for this course. Material is hard (because it's BIO), but she makes it as easy as it can be. Extra credit is offered. My best advice is to do the practice exams and review sessions before the exam. Her practice exams are normally very similar to the actual exam, and her review sessions help you narrow down your studying.
take this class! dr. fletcher is enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the material. the tests are tough, but manageable with lots of studying and paying attention in class. she also gives a generous amount of extra credit for attendance. She answers questions clearly and thoughtfully.
Dr. Fletcher is super sweet and extremely enthusiastic, but she does not always explain things in the best way and knows how to write a hard test.
Dr. Fletcher was one of the most caring profs I've had. She is interested in what she teaches and honestly a shame she doesn't have a better rating. Yes, you have to go to class and take good notes to do well on the exam but that's a given cause bio is conceptually heavy. Fletcher is overall a solid choice for bio 111.
This class was super manageable! Besides the labs, the only homework was to do the problem sets which you get multiple attempts on, and to review in class material or read the textbook. Tests were super easy and she gives extra credit in class which helps a lot. All the information came directly from her slides and test questions weren't difficult.
I LOVED Dr. Fletcher! She was always very helpful and understanding if issues ever came up. If you attend lecture, the material is easy to understand, plus she gives extra credit. Tests are multiple-choice, and she always gives out a practice test beforehand.
She's really good at explaining things in a simple way. There are plenty of grades, so botching a test isn't a death sentence. So long as you do the homework and stay mostly present during lectures, you should have an A. She's really nice as well, and frequently asks the class about their mood on a scale of cats. 10/10 would recommend
Loved her! She was excited to teach, would crack jokes and try to make sure the students understood. Her PPTs are long but they are filled with pics for visual learners. She does examples in class and uploads wrap up questions and videos for extra help to prepare for test. the 30 LC pts were the most helpful extra credit (attend lectures for them)
super nice person but cannot teach. very hard to understand and does not curve tests even when she states that the average for an exam was a 64 which i think reflects mostly on her teaching. lab is very difficult
Doesnt plan out lectures well enough and will speed through 78 slides the class the day before the exam (slides that are ON the exam). Gives lots of extra credit though and uses lots of questions from the practice tests. I honestly didnt really like her lecture style but it helped to write notes prior to her lecture & read the textbook.
Practice exams are very close to what is seen in the exam. She can go very fast in lecturer, especially when it comes to genetics. Overall, I believe that I mostly passed the class due to her SI instructor rather than her lectures. Strongly recommend to go to SI because they explain the topics in a slower pace and are open to answer questions.
Lectures are really interesting and she is passionate about biology but the exams are horrible. I didn't understand what half of the questions were even asking and although the practice exams did help, not enough for me to do decent on even one exam despite extra credit helping my grade. Lab exams are just as bad, good luck to anyone in the class.
Absolutely loved her class! She definitely cares about all her students and she is ready to help you if you ask for it. She doesnt require attendance but her extra credit is given in class and so you technically have to go if you want to get it (up to 30 points to your total grade). All her test questions come from the lectures.
She moves pretty quickly in lectures which is why her rating is kind of low, but we covered everything super in-depth and pointed out what you need to know. She has practice exams and pre-exam reviews telling you exactly what's gonna be on her exams and telling you how to work through it. Tons of LC points to help your grade too.
Dr. Fletcher truly cares about her students. Bio 111 is a decently difficult class but she does her best to really explain the information. She gives extra info in her power point notes and you have a chance for extra credit if your attend class. She also provided practice exams that really help to prepare for the exams.
The class is pretty easy (not even good at bio) and her lectures are in depth about the test. Barely any homework, except for one at home quiz a week (3 attempts). She post PowerPoints online so studying outside of class is easy. Barely went to class and studied hard 2 days before the exam and got an A. There is 30 extra credit points per semester.
Loved this class. Make sure you attend lecture. If you don't, you will miss information and not perform well on the exams. Professor gives extra credit which you only get by answering questions through an online system during class.
While she is a caring prof, she is a really slow lecturer. Before every single exam, she would be rushing to finish the chapters on the very last day, leaving us with 1.5 days to understand/memorize an entire chapter. On the other hand, if the entire class's average is terrible, she will curve the grade because most of the class did not get it.
Fletcher is not that great - her lectures were always behind, with us having to frequently learn a whole chapter the class before a test. However, we got 30 extra credit points (go to class for these!) and the tests were not really that bad if you study. Make sure you take good notes and study. It is possible to make an A if you put time in.
Professor Fletcher is a great prof who you can tell enjoys what she teaches. This class is definitely lecture heavy but I would say the labs were more difficult than her exams. She provides extra credit too so make sure you show up to class. Exams were overall not too difficult and the homework helps your grade.
Want a good grade: draw all diagrams/ images/ animals out and be able to explain them, make flashcards after class, study for exams as you learn the material (DO NOT WAIT UNTIL A FEW NIGHTS BEFORE), read the textbook (it really helped me, its almost identical to lecture), watch amoeba sisters on YouTube. Hadn't taken bio in 4 years, I was fine.
Dr. Fletcher was great. She's very straightforward with what's on exams and what she expects from you. One homework assignment a week and she always offers times to meet with her for help. Would definitely take a class from her again.
She is very caring about students, and is accessible outside of class. The only thing is that the test are kind of hard but if you re-read the lectures and read the textbook, take a practice exam. Outside of that class is not that hard if you attend SI sessions.
Fletcher has very interesting lectures. You will be tested on what she put on the slides so study the power points! She gives participation extra credit in class, so go to class. She is very knowledgeable and helpful, she will help you if you have questions. I recommended her to all my friends!
Dr. Fletcher is an amazing person. I highly recommend her class for incoming freshman. She gives extra credit points through poll everywhere if you attend her lectures. The extra credit definitely helped my grade. Biology is not my strong-suit, but she was easily accessible outside of class which helped me succeed.
The textbook is free (openstax), but you do not really use it at all. There is 30 points of extra credit available by going to class and participating in poll-everywhere, so I would highly suggest going to class because of the bonus points & there is a few testing points she only mentions in lecture. She is super nice and easy to follow in lecture.
tedious and boring lectures. over-explains simple concepts and glosses over complex ones. does not clearly answer questions. give useless and complicated detail about topics without giving or teaching proper foundation. Hard to learn details with no foundation for them. extremely confusing. If you can, AVOID. terrible prof.
My study group became acutely aware of how uninformative her lectures were. She leaves information out of the slides. She is unwilling to record ANY of her lectures. She gives 4 exams, and all of them have have had a failing average. She only gives a little bit of extra credit. Not concerned with your success in her class. Do not take Dr. Fletcher.
Dr. Fletcher is great! Her lectures are long and you have to pay attention as not everything she says is on the slides, but she won't test you over things she doesn't teach in class. She gives lots of extra credit opportunities and provides practice exams. She is always willing to answer questions and truly cares about her students!
This professor needs to get laid. She does the absolute most and gets turned on by students getting in trouble. She's basically failing 42 students because they went home early for thanksgiving. Loves to say she's caring but is just not. She sucks off the Aggie honor council, and never fails to remind her class how important it is. Good teacher.
Dr. Fletcher was very nice and has good articulation in her lectures. She is also very nice as a person and will help you out if you come to office hours.
I can say that although she is nice, beware that the material in general is A LOT and she is not very lenient there is extra credit but, it is nearly enough in my opinion. Fast talker & tough grader. I had a hard time trying to grasp a lot of content because it was not as interpreted clearly and was unsatisfied with my exam grades so, I dropped it.
Dr. Fletcher is very knowledgeable and easy to reach out to outside of class. The class is very lecture heavy and some of it can get overwhelming before tests especially since we start new chapters right before.
Professor Fletcher is a great professor, super caring for her students. Lectures can be fast-pasted but if you use her resources and put in the work you will understand. Exams are pretty difficult but you have to know the material and how to apply it. Lots of extra credit opportunities but you have to show up to class Definitely recommend her!!
Professor Fletcher has to be the best professor in the Bio department. Her lectures are information dense, but her grading criteria is clearly outlined (feedback on assignments given) and she offers extra credit as well. This master of her craft explain topics extremely well and her class averages on tests are high as well. Highly recommend!
She's a pretty good lecturer, and is caring. That being said do the extra credit in class only, you can get in trouble for not following that. The class is fairly easy if you put in the work. Make sure to take notes in your own time and pay attention to her lectures. Her tests aren't easy, but they're not difficult if you study. She doesn't curve.
Dr. Fletcher was one of my favorite professors. However, her class actually tests your studying abilities. The exams are very concept-based, rarely ever definition questions. You have to study on your own time to do well. She offers a lot of extra credit if you go to class & is always willing to help! Your grade reflects your level of effort.
Absolutely loved her. Amazing lectures made topics super clear and easy to grasp, clearly cares abt students and the subject. Definitely have to put in the work studying for exams- based on lecture content and very conceptual- but if you put in the work it pays off. She clearly wants to help you, and feedback on weekly quizzes is always helpful.
She's a nice person, but a difficult professor. There is so much information packed into each lecture, and she often rushes through them because she gets behind. She tends to waste time on simpler topics, then practically skips over harder ones. It's obvious that she somewhat cares about teaching, but not enough to put more effort in.
Dr. Fletcher is a caring person. She is very lecture heavy and her presentations range from 50-70 slides full of information and can be overwhelming. Her exams are difficult and weigh a lot on your overall grade (about 60%). As long as you study and really try to understand the material you should be fine.
I am very lucky to have Dr. Fletcher this semester! She genuinely cares about her students and is extremely helpful. She gives out a lot of extra credit through Poll Everywhere, which really helped my grade. I love how she cares about educating students rather than tripping them up on exams. Everything in this course is extremely straightforward.
Dr. Fletcher has to be the best bio professor at tamu. Lots of extra credit from in class poll everywhere. Her lectures are information heavy and you should take time to look over them outside of class. Tests are conceptual and require that you really know your information. Keep up with your work and go over your material and you'll do just fine.
Predictable, organized assignments each week. Dr. Fletcher has a passion for what she teaches, and though tests are challenging, she goes over the material well and provides exam reviews herself which is nice. In addition, in class extra credit is a must and easy (participation only). Highly recommend her for BIOL classes.
Dr. Fletcher was one of the best professors I've had to date. She is very clear with her expectations, organized, and genuinely wants everyone in her class to succeed. All of your extra credit is from in-class participation and they're weighted the same as exam points so you don't want to miss out. Make sure to look at the speakers notes on slides.
Bio is just a class you have to put effort in, Prof. fletcher is great a giving lectures and gives a lot of extra credit.
Dr. Fletcher gave incredibly detailed and digestible lectures. Homework was easy and weekly, and participation was taken at random times. Exams were well-representative of the material. The slides are helpful and the textbook is more of a supplement. She is very good at explaining answers, is passionate, and knows what she is talking about.
Dr. Fletcher was an amazing prof, but lectures dragged on. This may be bc I had her T Th lol. Bio breaks were bae. Dr. Fletcher explains throughly and answers question. The HW is very thorough and helps teach you for the class because she gives great feedback on it. Lab grade is completely dependent on your TA.
Fletcher is great, she gives good details about what's being covered and is clear with what she wants you to know. The exams are kinda hit or miss, def should study hard. She's always open to answer any questions you have. Homework is easy and helps prep for the exams. Attendance points are based on random days. Lots of chances for extra credit.
full honesty, i only went to the first day of class and the exams. but the way this class worked seemed as though it would be extremely easy to take if you actually did it how college should be done and not like me. very sweet lady, exams were a little hard, but i also didn't go to lectures. very passable class.
Dr. Fletcher is highly knowledgeable, well spoken, and personable. The only thing to be wary about is that her exams were designed to trick you.
I highly recommend her!! Tests can be tough and really tests your application of knowledge. But she prepares students very well for exams with review material, homework feedback, and extra credit participation questions in class. SI sessions really helped me in this class too.
Dr. Fletcher was an amazing lecturer and super knowledgeable. Pay attention because specific exam questions are usually given as examples in her slides. Really loved the bio breaks.
She is truly a GREAT prof, I highly recommend Dr. Fletcher! Lectures are heavy but if you attend SI & office hours when needed you will have no trouble passing with an A. She is beyond caring for her students & wants everyone to succeed if you put in the work. It is a core class so it does cover confusing material but she breaks everything down!
Go over her slides, take good notes, and watch the "helpful videos". I took this class with Prof. Wright last semester and failed so I Q dropped. then took this prof this semester and have a 97 in the class. Put in the work and you'll be fine, very generous with extra credit.
For BIOL 111 Fletcher was great. The class consisted of just testing your ability to study. The extra credit is enough to allow for mess-ups. and honestly, the lab part was way more work and way harder than the lecture for sure so just beware that lab is a lot of work. She's great tho I definitely recommend, intro bio is just a course with a lot.
Dr. Fletcher definitely makes the class a lot better by having great lectures and being clear of assignment grading. The class is not very difficult if you study her slides and homework assignments. She also is quite generous with extra credit.
Dr. Fletcher was very engaging during lectures and very workable if you made an effort to communicate with her. I absolutely loved her but you do have to study for exams seeing as they are application based.
If you want to understand biology and actually feel confident in going into these exams.. go for Fletcher. Wright is an absolute mess and passing her class is nearly impossible compared to Fletchers style of teaching. Read up slides the night before and you'll be fine.
The tests were hard but fair, just study and take good notes! Fletcher was very interested in what she was teaching which made it easier to go to class! Just study and you'll do well!!!
Honestly the best bio professor I've ever had. She cares so much about us and has so many opportunities to succeed. Her lectures are very easy to follow and she answers all questions with respect and clear explanations. If you go to her office hours she'll give you ample ways to better your studying habits and always posts extra videos to help :)
Prof Fletcher is amazing! She's very funny and gives plenty of relevant examples in her lectures. The course itself is very dense, but she always does a great job of thoroughly explaining each topic before moving on, and frequently answers class questions. *Lots* of extra credit opportunities through iClicker. Labs are a bit hard but interesting!
I am never going to take from her again. She only lectures and there are no interactive moments. She speaks very monotone and its hard to pay attention.
Dr. Fletcher wasn't a bad professor at all, I personally had a hard time focusing during her lectures and ended up just not going anymore. She is very monotone and will drag on some topics for so long that it is hard to pay attention. The tests were so hard in my opinion and you had to know every detail of everything to do well on them.
Dr. F is the best. I do think she should section out her units less evenly though. Unit 1 was much easier and needed less lecture time compared to units 2 and 3 (beware). Some self-learning had to be done on those to understand what was going on because its easy to not pay attention in class. However, still very manageable! Lots of extra cred!
Dr. Fletcher is a great professor, lectures can be a bit heavy sometimes but she was pretty engaging and explained things very well in my opinion. Lots of extra credit is offered and she has office hours often if you ever need to meet with her. Would definitely take her for 112 next semester if she taught it!
Good prof, really just makes you work for your grade. Tons of extra credit saved me but if you're struggling you NEED to go to SI or teach yourself because this class is so fast paced.
Dr. Fletcher is a good professor, but she has a slower lecture pace. The class content is quite similar to AP Biology, so if you took it in high school, this class will likely be fairly easy. Taking the practice tests is the best way to prep for exams. There's a lot of extra credit so its very possible to make an A in the class.
Professor Fletcher is probably one of the best biology professors at A&M. Her tests are comprehensive and a little bit of recall, but as long as you study the powerpoints you will be fine. She also gives 30+ points of extra credit, which boosted my grade like crazy. As long as you put in the work, you will do well in the class.
Great professor! Gives out LOTS of extra credit (plus iClicker) which is all pretty easy to do so I'd highly highly recommend doing all it. I ended up finishing with a grade over 100% because of it. Weekly homework is just 25-ish questions and you get 2 attempts on Canvas. Practice exams are very similar to the real thing. Hard class to fail.
literally so boring. lost a brain cell everytime she said "iconic". extremely specific and difficult exams. hella extra credit. easy labs. content heavy. caring and accessible through office hours (did take like a week to respond to my email)
Dr. Fletcher was a good professor. Her lectures and slides can be a little confusing however if you pay attention to the lectures she walks through them and makes them more understandable. She offers tons of extra credit, there is little homework required, and overall this was an enjoyable class.
Biology is hard, but she could've been better. She talked about randomness for the first 25 minutes of class (75 minute lecture) so we were always running behind, she promised to not include the chapters we missed on the exams which wasn't true, she would post videos of those slides. Doesn't post completed slides or lectures so please go to class.
Dr. Fletcher genuinely taught the course material. She provides slides but goes into much more detail during the lectures, so it's important to go to understand the material fully. The material was easy to understand, and there's extra credit for attending class. The exams are easy to study for. Problem sets are weekly but don't take too much time.
Do the polls! Exams were seriously specific. I went to A+ tutoring for around 3 days straight and studied lecture before exams. Definitely helped. Hated lab cuz I didn't know how to read the instructions. Lab quizes will be fine if u go to TRENTON STEWARTS office hours. Love him:) Lab assignments were hard. Definitely my hardest class besidesmath.
She was overall pretty good. She taught the necessary material and if you studied well, you did well. Nothing too crazy about her so I would probably take another class for her
An ok professor, nothing that makes her stand out much. Reads off powerpoint slides and overall, lectures are extremely boring. Every once in a while she will add some extra notes but nothing too much. However, does provide plenty of extra credit and is very helpful if you go out of your way to seek help.
Probably the best professor I've had at TAMU, especially for STEM courses! I struggled a lot with my mental health at the time I took her class, and she was very helpful and accommodating. She really cares about her students and her teaching. She provides lots of learning resources, offers extra credit, and her teaching style is very effective.
Professor Fletcher is great! Her lectures are kind of boring as she does mostly just read from the slides, however she does iClicker for extra credit so it is beneficial to attend. Her tests are pretty specific but not too bad, and the problem sets emulate her question style for the test, so do them thoroughly.
Dr. Fletcher is a solid teacher, she might not be the best with emails but besides that no complaints.
She the GOAT. I took her for BIOL 213 and it was a super information-dense course. She makes the course significantly easier to work around and lets you know what she expects from you on the exams. Gave extra credit throughout the semester. Super helpful and would recommend it if this course is required for you.
Professor Fletcher's BIOL111 class can be hit-or-miss, but her lectures are enhanced by the use of resources like unstuck ai, which helps students prepare effectively for her exams.
Good teacher, explained things well. Graded really quickly and gave 20 points extra credit for the class as well as 10 pt buffer for every exam. Exam questions were straight forward and easy if u memorized the slides and knew all the homework. Lab was easy too, much easier than chemistry. Attendance not mandatory but extra credit with I clicker.
A professor that cares about the success of her students. Lectures are more than just reading off the slide and are vital in understanding the topics, pretty engaging. Provides some extra credit and has practice exercises that mirror the question style of exams. Having some background on AP Bio could make this course easier, but not by a lot.
She was okay. Lectures were boring but very informative for the tests.
Professor Fletcher is very knowledgeable. Her lectures go very fast, so I would recommend skimming the slides a day before the lecture. She is very good at explaining when you ask her a specific question. She is a great prof teaching a hard class. I would take her again, but take initiative learning subjects because it catches up fast. ExCr too.
Highly recommend for Bio-111, gives extra credit and some free room to miss questions on exams. Lectures were sometimes heavy or fast but she's easy to talk to and really nice if you have questions.
Offers tons of extra credit through iclicker and group projects. Allows around 3-4 questions to be missed on tests before it starts taking points off. Just make sure to either pay attention in lecture or catch up through slides/problem sets.
I love Dr. Fletcher! She is a very nice professor and super chill. She explains things well when you attend office hours with questions. Her exams had a 4 question "buffer," so they were easy to get an A, especially if you have taken AP Bio. The lectures sometimes got boring and she can be bad at pacing, so we had to watch a vid outside of class.
A great professor explains info clearly, although lecture-heavy, it should be expected for a biology class. The workload is moderate with weekly homework but not tedious and prepares you for the exams. Although attendance isn't mandatory, I would highly recommend it because she gives out extra credit during lectures and also important info. 9.5/10
Overall a great class and a great professor! She went through lectures pretty quickly, but it was pretty easy to follow along. The exams weren't too difficult as long as you study. She offered a lot of extra credit opportunities too, some in class only, so while attendance isn't mandatory it's definitely helpful to go.
You can tell that she really enjoys teaching and wants the best for her students. Her exams are very very detailed so you really need to know all of the info but she is a great professor.
She is an amazing professor, but your grade in the class depends on how much you are willing to put in. With effort, it is not hard to get an A. I bombed the first exam, but still managed to bring my grade to an A, because she gives lots of extra credit. And her office hours are extremely helpful, she is always willing to help understand concepts.
If you have never taken AP Bio, exams can be very hard but she offers a lot of extra credit that can boost your grade. It is a lot of material to learn so go to her study hours and look at exam material at least a week before the exam because her exams questions are not just about memorizing material but about applying it to difficult things.
If you have no prior bio experience, I would say it is difficult, She has extra credit that helps and is easy to do. Tests are not memorization and mostly applying the material so you must understand. Very professor and always helped when it was needed.
I could barely understand her lectures as she goes SO fast, so I usually had to relearn everything myself. She gives so much extra credit for exams and your overall grade, though, so I didn't mind it too much. Many will say she's good at lecturing but she likes try to relate things about the topic to another topic, and it makes it so confusing.
Not a STEM major but took this class out of interest. Dr. Fletcher's a great lecturer but tends to go through lectures fast, so it's better to look over the content after class. She gave a lot of extra credit opportunities so make use of them early in the semester. Tests are very similar to problem sets & lecture slides.
Reading the slides is not enough, if you go to class you will do pretty good. Offers a lot of extra credit and is open to talk and give you feedback to get better. Her exams are pretty detailed though so you really need to know the material to get a good grade.
Attend lectures, they are engaging and help a lot with learning the material. She gives a lot of extra credit so be sure to take advantage; I would not have gotten an A without it.
She's great! Her exams are kind of hard. I always studied the slideshows and did pretty okay on most of the exams.
Dr. Fletcher is overall a very good professor. I found her office hours very helpful because she would go over a question with everyone in the room. The exams were tough but if you take time to study you can do well. Although the lectures could get boring sometimes Dr. Fletcher is very kind and always helpful.
I have never missed one of her classes, but Samantha Fletcher has to be one of the most BORING lecturers in the world. Her lectures should honestly be uploaded to YouTube as “10+ hours of incomprehensible noise to fall asleep to” or be medically prescribed to people with insomnia. As a result, most of my table has resorted to skipping class.
Dr. Fletcher is cool. Lectures are lectures, not insanely boring but not making me jump for joy. But that's biology LOL. Tests are fairly hard so study up, but there's a 10 point curve so it's super helpful. Very doable class, and I'm a business major! That says something!
study? youll be fine. her exams have 9 pt curves each, so studying the material and going to office hours will be way more than enough. i never went to SI and did the materials on my own, and i got A's on every exam. lectures are lectures, but study and its literally impossible to get a bad grade
She is a good and organized professor. She gives a bunch of extra credit opportunities. To do well on the tests, just read the slides and thoroughly understand the processes. Know where the processes happen, how they happen, why, they happen, etc.
3 exams, not too hard, have10-point buffer+extra credit clicker. Lecture slides are decent, pay attention to what she says in lecture. Very receptive to questions in class, does not rush material. Transparent abt exam content. Exams have free response where grading can get very specific but its ok bc 10point buffer saves u. Never made below 97.
Do ALL the extra credit. She is so sweet and willing to help! Tests can be a little hard so be sure to study and have a thorough understanding of the concepts. The chapter wrap ups were super helpful to study. You can get 4 questions wrong on exams and still get a 100 on them. An A isn't too hard if you put in effort.
Gives a ton of extra credit for iClicker so show up to class. Tests were fairly difficult, mostly MC with a few free response. Free response was hard, but she gives 10 point buffer on all tests including the final. Lectures are boring but shes very nice and answers questions well. Overall good prof but you definitely need to put in work to do well.
Very good prof. She does answer too many questions in class, which results in having to watch videos outside of class to catch back up in the material. But, she is very easy to understand, and her tests were easier than other professors. All in all, she is a very good prof, and I would take her again.
She offers a ton of extra credit points through iClicker, so going to lecture is helpful. Exams weren't too bad if you go to lectures and read through all the notes. Each exam has a 4 question buffer, so you can miss 4 questions before points are deducted.
Love Dr. Fletcher so, so much. She is extremely nice and caring, and it shows in the way she lectures. She does go into depth about the material, but she is always checking up on us to make sure we're understanding the lecture. This course does contain a LOT of information, so don't be like me and study only the night before.
Very thorough lecturer. It was clear she knew what she was talking about and her slides and resources are wonderful. She has a superiority complex over students and literally acts like she's so much better than them which can make it nerve wracking to ask questions. Is super condescending a lot of times.
Her lectures are great. They are very clear and she explains topics in a simple way. Her slides are exactly like the tests. Her tests are NOT as hard as other Biol111 professors. Take her!
GREAT prof. Her class and tests were so interesting and easy but def use the study methods she recs. There is a textbook but you don't need to read it if you study the slides and do the homework (which is very time flexible so just don't forget about it). You'll do great if you do the work. There is a group project but its not hard.
Wonderful professor that really goes out of her way to help her students. There is tons of in class iClicker questions for extra credit and the tests are graded VERY liberally and will often provide partial/full credit for "wrong" answers that can be justified. Lectures are easy to comprehend and she will often answer as many questions as she can.
lectures a lot.its boring, but will do better on the exams if you attend class, She sometimes gives credit for "wrong" answers if its justifyiable on exams, so usually score high. only con is its a lot of material in such little time. Sometimes you have 2 weeks for 4 chapters, 2 exams. Exams are easy and general ideas, not detailed. I reccomend
A hard class, and lectures got long and kind of boring, but she did her best to keep us engaged. Lots of extra credit if you go to class! In class group assignments (≈ 1 per exam) were annoying though, and it felt like valuable lecture time was taken away by these for not a lot of student benefit. I definitely had to learn to study for this one!
Fletcher is an amazing prof!!!! I attended her one on one sessions occasionally and she never made me feel stupid or anything like that. Tests can be a little difficult but she does iclicker questions that are literally directly on the test so just study those. there's a textbook that's rly helpful but not required. take her!!
Biology is a hard class to begin with! She made the class not so bad, but she still doesn't slack up much. She expects you to already have previous knowledge of biology (like AP bio) and if you dont then you will struggle like me. She is super fast paced, there will be a lot of studying, and her test are super hard! Offers resources to help you.
Dr. Fletcher was an incredible professor. She expected a lot, but was VERY fair. Tests were always reasonable, extra credit was significant, boosted my grade up 2-3%. Very open to answering many questions in class, truly loves her subjects. On tests, she gives back credit if you can justify the answer you chose. Attendance gave extra credit.
Your exams don't matter that much for her bio 111 class as for some other subjects but you do have a lot of work to do, and try to attend the SI sessions, they're very helpful to grasp what topics are important.
Literally an amazing prof, very responsive and helpful. Felt like she cared about every person. Her class is difficult, but she is clear on what she expects and what you need to know. Her lectures are pretty long, but they are engaging and the slides have pictures and videos.
I love Dr. Fletcher, biology itself is a hard class so its obviously not going to be easy but she is very caring and just very nice. She offers a lot of office hours you can go to and also extra credit. There are no practice exams but we have chapter quizzes that are almost the same thing!
she's friendly. iclicker HEAVY, but it is not for a grade & for extra credit. her lectures aren't boring, but they aren't exciting. does not provide practice tests, but has helpful videos and chapter wrap ups and a chapter quiz that helps you understand the content. review chapter powerpoints before class so u can pay attention.
The tests were surprisingly hard, even after being used to AP bio tests. The content overall was pretty easy though, just the wording of the questions. Most of the assignments for bio is for the labs too. Dr. Fletcher does give opportunities to get a max of 15 extra credit points. A lot of the lectures are posted on videos, some units entirely.
Man biology is rough for those who only need it for a degree credit, but the professor is great despite it. Tests for real are surprisingly hard and I don't think any studying I could do could prepare me for them. I really wish she had practice quizzes with similarly worded questions though. Main exams are thorough and rough with class averages ~70
You need to study the slides to do well on the exams , I never had to read the textbook. She gives out a lot of extra credit. My only problem was that she would answer every single question anyone asked that would waste a lot of lecture time so we would end up having to watch videos online.
One of the best for this class, good amount of extra credit through iclicker, and tests are easier than most of the other profs.
Very good professor and got a high A in the class with not that much effort. She's a good person, and her slides and quizzes are very helpful for the exams. Her lectures can be a bit boring, so I didn't always pay attention, but her tests are fair and very doable with studying. Furthermore, she offers a lot of extra credit, which helps your grade.
Her lectures were interesting. Provides so much extra credit, very helpful. Her exams are like the slides she gives to you. Attendance isn't mandatory but gets a lot of EC for it.
She's probably the best professor for biology 111 and gives points back on tests and quizzes. The only thing was that she answers every single question asked and sometimes causes video lectures. Overall, if you put in the work you should get an A.
Her lectures are very long and she moves fast. Listen to her advice for study tips, it makes a huge difference. Just going to class is not enough for a good grade; go to student study/office hours!!!!!!!!!! Overall Dr. Fletcher is very nice and is extremely willing to help, you just have to reach out first.
Dr. Fletcher is a really nice professor. She is clear with whats he expects from you for exams. Be prepared to study outside of class. Highly recommend her. Would take again
Good prof for a freshman class. She goes super-fast, so don't take an 8am w/ her. Exams are weirdly difficult; you study a lot but still end up with an 80 on an exam. Lots of extra credit, so do iClicker and whatever points you can get. Use lab to boost your grade. She does do reviews before exams!! Use them when she does them!!
D1 yapper so we moved through content so slow that a lot of chapters became videos we had to watch on our own time, so get ready to teach yourself a lot. She gives detailed exam breakdowns which is helpful, SI sessions before exam also helpful. do not take if you have a low attention span, her lectures can get boring after long periods of time.
She's very nice and does offer extra credit opportunities, but I wouldn't recommend her if you have a short attention span. Her lectures can be boring, and you end up teaching yourself a lot of the material. This is especially true if biology doesn't already come easily to you, since exams rely heavily on independent studying.
Fletcher isn't a bad prof. But her lectures were pretty boring. Her tests were fairly hard. You get 2 tries on the chapter quizzes, so not horrible. You can get up to 20 points of extra credit. You shouldn't be failing it is very hard to do that. Overall just a boring class that you need to study hard for. Nice prof though, go to her office hours.
Her lectures were done very well and the information was perfectly oriented towards what was to be on our exams. She is a quality teacher.
She was a nice lady, that's about it. Her discussions and readings are absolutely nothing like the exam. There is some extra credit options, but she gave up on that within the first couple of weeks. Literally impossible for me to get an A in the class. I don't recommend her if you actually care about your grades.
This was my first science as a freshman, and I loved her as my professor. She was funny during lectures, and attending office hours definitely helps in terms of my understanding. Her grading was precise, and she was very fair. I love her teaching style. She assigns videos to watch before class, but goes over them during lecture. 10/10 no notes.
I love Professor Fletcher! The class was difficult just because of the material being covered but she truly did try her best to help us learn. The class is a lot of work but it's definitely possible to get an A if you put in the time. She is very good about responding to students questions and will do her best to help you!
If you put in the effort, you'll be able to get an A in her class! The exams are the hardest part about her class because they require in depth knowledge about the material. There are also chapter quizzes that are similar in difficulty to the exams. She offers 20 points of extra credit to the final grade that could help boost grades.
Hard tests that require you to critical think for every question and if she doesn't get through chapters in lecture, expect to have videos on canvas that you have to watch to get the material. However, there are lots of opportunities for extra credit, and she is a good lecturer.
Great Professor, lectures were very informative, albeit a little lengthy and boring sometimes. Exams were pretty straight forward, difficult to get a 100%, but as long a you study the content you should almost always get a B or higher. Clearly cares for the students as well, sometimes cut lectures short and gives extra credit options.
Dr. Fletcher is an extremely knowledgeable professor who offers many extra credit opportunities. If you put in effort, it's very possible to succeed, and the extra credit can significantly boost your grade. The only downside is that she sometimes moves quickly and doesn't always slow down on concepts that later appear on exams.
Her lectures were so boring but she put a lot of emphasis on what mattered.her exams were easy of you reviewed the review material she provides and took / remembered anything from high school biology.
