The homework is long and but easy to do. The test are what matter the most and they can be difficult. Dr. Johnson is an amazing teacher and super nice as well. She is someone that wants you to do good and is one of the best teachers that I have had. Just show up to class and pay attention and you will do really good!
For a new professor, she did very well this semester. While the weekly homework is very long and time consuming it is easy and repetitive which I grew to enjoy since it helped me remember things. Exams are online and proctored but paying attention in the course and taking good notes will get you through. She loved participation as well.
If you need to take microeconomics I think that Professor Johnson is going to be your best bet. Not much homework, and attend class so you get bonus points for the exams. I would just say that if you don't need to take this class, don't. Microeconomics graphs and charts don't make much sense to me still, but if you need to she definitely is good.
Samantha Johnson gave really great lectures and made complex topics easy to grasp. As long as you do the weekly homework assignments and take time to review before tests it's an easy A. All tests were open book and contained content strictly from the lectures.
Her class was enjoyable! She is very clear with the way she grades and what she wants us to learn. I would recommend going to the lectures, she makes it clear what she will put on the test. It is also obvious that she cares about economics, and wants her class to understand it. She was just kind and refreshing for a professor.
Johnson is an awesome teacher. She teaches you exactly what is to be on your exam. Highly hIGHLY recommend her :)
Professor Johnson teaches you exactly what is on the exams. She does extra credit assignments sometimes, and she will do pop quizzes for attendance and they are super easy. Her exams are extremely straight forward. Overall, great professor, highly recommend.
I don't care what others say, she will post the practice exam but will not post the answers for them which completely defeats the purpose of the practice exam. She does not teach much at all, just says things and expects you to know what she is talking about.
Do not take. Does not communicate well, considering she sent out 1 email the whole semester. Exams are in person and on paper.
Professor Johnson's course is the hardest course I have ever taken. The reviews are nothing like the exam. Professor Johnson is very sarcastic and is out to get every student. She wants you to fail.
Might be the worst professor I have ever had at my time at the University of Oklahoma. Does not prepare will for the exams and is absolutely horrible in lecture. I went to class every time and still almost failed. If you are taking this class get ready to barley pass with a C.
Terrible Communicator, Practice exams you think they would helpful absolutely not. They are just exactly what's not on the test so they are pointless, She teaches by just scrolling through the slides and she is flying through the notes leaving no time to actually take in what your learning let alone what she is talking about.
I couldn't believe how difficult this course was with Professor Johnson. Her practice tests were NOTHING like her actual exams and neither were her lectures and homework. The amount of material covered in this class is way too much for a 1000 level course. Take another professor if you have the chance.
Stay away. This class will seriously make you take a W or get a C. This was the hardest class ever, nothing to prepare for exams and class averages were in the D range for tests. Take someone else to save your gpa.
Class is way more difficult than it needs to be. Nothing on her practice exams is what you see on tests. As others had mentioned, the class average on all exams was a D. I am also very skeptical about if she actually grades them. I got the exact same grade the the decimal on the last 2 exams and all of my grades were within 1% of each other.
She is absolutely amazing, PLEASE take her. Her practice exams were so helpful for her exams and she lets you choose what questions you want to answer. Attendance is extra credit, but you need to go to class to get notes to do the homework/exams, so you do need to go to do well. Best econ professor I've had, I really enjoyed her lectures.
The fact I got a C was fully my fault. Just go to class everyday and you should be fine. There are surprise attendance checks every now and then and those points will go towards extra credit on your exams. Its not a hard class I was just lazy. She's as good as a professor as you can be. No complaints. She's super nice and chill. She vibes.
Ms. Johnson does a great job of teaching what is necessary and on the test. You will do good if you just go to class, attendance isn't required but you get extra credit for going. Only homework assignments are on McGraw Hill and you get a 100 just for completing them. I think she did a great job teaching just go to class
Gives attendance points for coming to class. She redid the whole course this semester and if you go to class and study the notes, an A is easily attainable. Her lectures are boring just make sure you get the information on the slides.
Must go to class to get notes- class is redesigned where you use powerpoint notes given in lectures. Smartbooks (always 100s for participation) and exams are only grades. She gives attendance bonus points for showing up that go on exam grades. Go to class, pay attention, get all notes- EASY A. Can't recommend more. Got over a 100 for exams!
Attending every class is a must and a lot of the teaching came from reading from a PowerPoint. A good bit of extra credit is offered and she was very nice the few times I spoke to her. It's not an easy class but it's not impossible to get an A.
Professor Johnson is by far the best professor I've had in my 3 semesters at OU. I barely got a B in macro, but finished with a 94 in her micro class. She makes the concepts easy to understand and keeps it fun. Attendance isn't mandatory, but going to class is really the only way to do well in the course, plus sometimes you'll get extra credit.
Graded by only smart books (all 100s for completion) and 4 tests. Go to class and she will award attendance bonus points added to exams! Take notes (iPads are amazing cause u can copy slides from canvas), and study them. Tests are super easy and based only on her lectures. If you go to class, you get an A. I got over a 100! Seriously best ever!!!
the only good thing about her is that she gives extra credit for attendance and it's usually twice a week although attendance isn't mandatory. Exams are worth 70% of your grade and the exams are on paper in person.
Prof Johnson must've redone her class because she's actually a good professor and makes things pretty understandable. Attendance isn't mandatory but just go because she gives extra credit a lot of showing up. Her exams can be sorta tough if you don't take notes and pay attention.
Johnson is an excellent teacher. Attendance is not mandatory, but her lectures are not fully available online. Plus most classes have extra credit. We had anywhere from 10-20 bonus points per test. She is very clear on what will be on the tests. As long as you go to class and pay attention the class is relatively easy.
I loved having Sam as my micro professor! She gave out SO much extra credit, it's basically impossible to get anything lower than an A if you come to class. I averaged above a hundred on all exams. Her teaching style is also very easy to follow and she is personable, which was a breath of fresh air in the economics department. Highly recommend her!
She moves incredibly fast during lectures and does not slow down very much even when asked. Homework is easy, and extra credit is given in class but you have to go to lecture to get it. She does not have a good study guide but if you self-study the exams are not bad.
Super straightforward and reasonable class. Go to lecture and pay attention and that's all you really need to do. Rather than displaying slides filled with text, she draws each slide as she goes through the lecture. This makes slides super easy to keep up with and understand.
Really easy to understand presented concepts, exams are easy with a respectable amount of studying, homework is easy and minimal, and the professor is fun and gives lots of extra credit. Attendance isn't mandatory, but extra credit is given to those who do show up. Highly recommended for anyone needing to take econ.
There's a LOT of material covered in every lecture and she moves through the slides pretty quickly. Homeworks can be kind of long but super easy, and she doesn't have a good study guide for exams but if you make your own you'll be fine. She gives out quite a bit of extra credit points if you attend lectures even though attendance is not mandatory.
She's very relatable and easy to talk to. She tells you exactly what's going to be on the test based on her lecture notes. She gives a lot of extra credit. We got out of class early. I ended up getting 101 in the class.
Samantha is not necessarily a good prof, but you would have to try to fail this class. Go to class, EC is offered almost every day. The final is optional, three midterms make up the majority of your grade. All of the assignments are through McGraw so you will have to buy the $100 book. Would take again purely bc of how much EC she offers.
Just make sure you come to class and this should be an easy A!
She gives so much extra credit and really wants you to succeed. She appeals to all types of learning styles in her slides and gives lots of examples. Showing up for every class is a must to get the notes and you will do well. Love her!
If you actually show up, there are a lot of (admittedly off-subject) extra credit opportunities. Sam is incredibly sweet and a very thorough lecturer. Your grade is basically all tests, but the tests are actually exceedingly simple and seem to have been written by her, which is a breath of fresh air. Take notes, come to class, and you're good.
Johnson gives out plenty of EC, which is really nice. She goes through many handmade practice problems throughout class, which end up being on the exams too. Go to class for the extra credit. Overall pretty good.
Awesome professor! There are many opportunities for extra credit points IF you show up to class Highly recommend
Dr Johnson is an amazing economics professor. She is a very good teacher and she gives so much extra credit for attendance. She is very nice, personable and is pretty funny. Her class is not hard at all and the workload is very minimal. If I applied myself more in her class I would have gotten an A. Overall she was a great professor and teacher.
Attendance is not mandatory but she will randomly take it for extra credit. She teaches great and if you pay attention, you will pass.
As long as you come to class you will pass. Her in-class lectures are different than the homework through McGraw Hill so do not rely on those. She gives bonus points A LOT and the final is optional.
Great professor, lecture heavy, must study or you will fail the exams.
Easiest class I've taken at OU. Attendance is optional, but she offers credit for just showing up to class. If you pay attention during her lectures you will get an A. Seriously, if you somehow don't pass this class you either: 1.Didn't do the homework and attend class 2. Don't belong in college.
Really liked the extra credit opportunities. Review sessions very helpful. Not too much homework but homework was helpful
Dr. Johnson is one of he best teachers I have had. She makes class interesting and upbeat. Attendance is not mandatory but you receive bones points on the following exam each class. She also asks general life questions before class which can give you more extra credit points if you get it right.
She moves incredibly fast during lectures and does not slow down very much but she will if you ask. Homework is easy, and extra credit is given in class but you have to go to lecture to get it. She does not have a study guide as she decides to do review days instead but if you self-study the exams are relatively easy.
TAKE HER FOR MICROECONOMICS!! She gives great lectures and so many extra credit opportunities (many of these come from attendance). Her exam reviews are great, so please attend them! I cannot recommend her enough!!
Dr. Johnson is a very fun and kind professor. She explains things like her students are 5 years old which is very helpful with the information load for this course. Gives TONS of extra credit. Only downside is notes are only available by coming to class. Make friends in the class in case you miss a lecture. Prepare to study hard for tests.
Dr. Johnson is the best. Fill-in-the-blank notes are available on Canvas. She explains concepts well and doesn't go off on tangents. All homework is on McGraw Hill but fairly short. Lots of bonus points are given in class just for showing up. If you go to class and pay attention, you'll pass.
Professor Johnson is a good lecturer and I had no problems with her class. All homework was pretty easy, the only thing that required additional studying for was the tests but they were also not too bad. Easy class for credit
Attend class and you should do well, extra credit given randomly to students that attend. Great professor, but not a fan of the course structure. She does not post the completed notes from lectures so taking notes is definitely needed for most people to do well on the exams.
Dr. Johnson is great! The class consists of homework assignments through McGraw Hill Connect and should be 100's. There are 3 exams and an optional final that will replace your lowest exam. Like Dr. Norwood, there are random extra credit bonus point quizzes that add to your test score. As long as you show up to class and try, you should get an A.
She's very sweet if you go up and talk to her, and also very generous with bonus points. Usually the class would irritate her by talking while she's giving a lecture which made me sad bc she actually a very good prof. im ngl i didnt do so hot on her exams only bc i didnt study, but still plenty of opportunity to bounce back.
She's really great! Exams are easy if you go to lectures. You can really tell she wants all of us to do well. Also gives out a ton of bonus points at lectures that really helped on my exam grades!
Attendance is not mandatory but her lectures are needed to get a good grade on the tests. She gives extra credit points if you attend class and has review days before an exam. Very kind and willing to help. Would recommend!
Samantha Johnson is a very friendly professor who cares about her students. However, it can be difficult to excel in her class because the exams are all short answer and long. She can grade hard even if you get a majority of the answers right, but helps help you understand your mistakes. Only take her if you have to.
Super easy. Four main things: 1. Show up to lectures or make a friend in class that can give u her notes because she doesn't post the notes online. 2. Def bring an iPad or a notebook cause her notes are all written 3. She gives extra credit if u show up to class. 4. Overall the exams are easy, just study her notes and go through the Mcgrawhills.
It's a super chill class. Attendance isn't mandatory, but if you want to do well, you should probably go; she posted completed notes before the test. The course consists of like15 mcgraw hill assignments and 4 exams, but she drops your lowest.
Pretty solid professor. She always has a good attitude in class and still engages with her students. Posts notes slides before class so you can follow along easily. Assignments are long but are on SmartBook. Attendance isn't mandatory, but she will give out extra credit sometimes for showing up to class.
lots of extra credit oppurtunities. attendance not mandatory but helps + you get ec
she's sweet and all but I couldn't stay awake. her class was so boring and I felt more confused leaving than when I walked in. there is a lot of chances for extra credit but the tests are hard.
This class was truly super easy if you attend her in person lectures and do a good review of her notes before the exams. If you go to class she gives out random extra credit points towards the exam so GO TO CLASS. Without these bonus points I definitely would have had to take the final and I probably would have ended with a B.
Great professor overall. Although she doesn't make attendance mandatory, do yourself a favor and actually go to class. While lectures can be boring, it helps out a ton in this class. She offers lots of extra credit to those who actually attend class. As long as you go to class and follow along, you will do good in this class without a doubt.
Only 3 tests in here and connect HW's. Dr. Johnson is funny and a good teacher, it's just a little tough trying to replicate her graphs on my laptop (just use a notebook instead). Participation not mandatory but gives extra credit for attending classes pretty frequently (probably every other class-ish). Tests aren't too difficult. Taking her again.
Dr. Johnson is very knowledgeable, caring, and funny. She does a great job of working out the problems. Office Hours were super helpful. If you attend and follow along, there will be no issues. Lots of opportunities to do well. Would take again for sure.
I love this professor so much. She is amazing, and attendance is not mandatory unless you want to get bonus points on tests. As long as you attend 75% of this course and do the assignments I cannot see why you wouldn't get an A. She has clear powerpoints, and tries to steer you a direction to basically tell you what is exactly on exams.
Attendance isn't mandatory but if you go to class you get bonus points that are added to your test. Class consists of four tests and the lowest grade gets dropped plus weekly mcgraw hill assignments. Concepts are not that difficult but she offers office hours almost daily where you can get tutoring with the TA. Take notes and you'll be fine
This has been one of the most difficult classes to follow along in. She moves way too fast in her lectures, and she doesn't teach the information; she just does it. When she talks to the class, most of the time, she talks to us like we are children. She does not prepare the class well for the exams, has no study guide, and reviews aren't helpful.
Professor Johnson is AMAZING!!! She explains all of the concepts very in depth be ready to take notes. Show up to class and you will pass, she gives a ton of extra credit for attendance and more. She makes her exams almost identical to the practice questions in the lectures. Couldn't recommend her enough!!
You must attend class. All notes are given in class so as long as you go you should succeed. Gives clear exam expectations and encouraged participation from students. She cares a lot about students and often brings snacks and obviously cares for us and wants us to succeed. Very accessible and approachable.
Very good professor. Lectures explained the topics clearly and highlighted what would be important to know for the exams (70% of the grade). There was a lot of extra credit, mainly for attendance, which is not mandatory. Show up anyway or you probably won't do well on exams. If you do well on all three midterms you can skip the final exam.
Pay attention to the lectures and what she writes on the slides. The concepts are pretty basic to understand, but the further you are into the class things start getting a little harder. I recommend taking pics of the slides she writes on and studying those. If you take time to study every once in a while you should get an A.
Easy class, attendance isn't mandatory but she gives attendance bonus points which REALLY help on the tests. Tests aren't bad and she does a review beforehand. Literally the girl Norwood.
I thought she was a great teacher and made the subject easy to understand.
Sometimes seems to overcomplicate things, and it's hard to keep up in the lecture
Johnson is a good professor, but you HAVE to pay attention in class, otherwise you can get so behind. She flips a coin at the end of every lecture, and if there are 2 heads in a row, you get an extra point of credit on the upcoming exam. Final is optional; if you take it and get a good grade, it will replace your lowest exam score from the semester
She was a pretty good teacher. She tended to move through her slides very fast and you would feel behind if you weren't really paying attention. Attendance wasn't mandatory but highly encourage since she didn't post the completed notes on canvas.
Great at explaining things once and expecting you to understand it for the next class. She gives horrible reviews /study guides. Lectures too fast and doesn't slow down even when asked. GO TO CLASS even though it's "not required" her posted notes are literally useless.
She is the worst. She does not care about you. She will get mad at the whole class. Her test do not correlate with the class notes.
She is a good professor and teachers the lessons very thoroughly, however it is a 500 person class and gets chaotic and hard to follow along if you dont sit up front. Take Norwood.
She lectures well and provides practice in class which was helpful. Had to study a lot outside of class for exams. Having an iPad is basically a necessity for her class. Seems like a nice person but sometimes she treated the students like elementary students in the way she talked to the whole group.
Professor Johnson is an amazing teacher. Her notes are very clear and helpful; she also doesn't take attendance, but will give extra credit on random days, so go to class!
Professor Johnson's class was an atrocity. The reviews weren't helpful. They were Q&A sessions, wish she went over her old tests, so we could get a grasp of what to study. She doesn't give study guides. She lectures too fast and has a short temper. I wish she gave us study guides. Attendence is not necessary, but there's extra credit occasionally.
Great professor. Attendance is not required, but recommended because she gives extra credit, and the lectures are great.
OMG DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. ALL MY FRIENDS FROM PRIOR SEMESTERS SAID SHE WAS NICE BUT SOMETHING CHANGED SPRING SEMESTER. JUST DO NOT DO IT, SHE WILL NOT WORK WITH YOU AT ALL!!!!
She gives a delicious amount of extra credit, love it! Her temper can be seen as short, but she always warns the class to quiet down before our daily extra credit opportunity gets taken away. Shocker, most of the time the class does not, and we lose it. Overall, it's an easy class. Best strat = study ONLY the lecture notes for exams.
Professor Johnson was horrible. Provided nothing for review for any of the 4 exams, had a terribly short temper. Very lecture heavy which she speeds through and makes it hard to take notes. Again NOTHING TO STUDY WITH.
super awesome! I know so many ppl that have changed their major to Econ because of her/ her class. gives a TON of extra credit (like 15 points per test). Her tests are a little difficult, but she's always super willing to answer questions. The lowest test grade also gets dropped, so there's a chance you won't have to take a final. Love her sm!!
Gives nothing to study, goes to fast for notes, cant look at past tests, cant look at past homework, just don't take this teacher is not good at all.
Overall this class basically only relied on information from the lectures however when you actually go take the exam it felt like the questions hardly ever pertained to the information from her lectures. The professor was not very helpful in my opinion but at least there was a lot of extra credit. Also, she did not provide study material at all.
Listen, she's a great person. Not so much teacher. She really shouldn't be teaching. There is no review for tests, the TA's are terrible. She expects you to not say a peep in class, so don't talk. Take it at OCCC or elsewhere. Let me give
She is a great professor if you go to class, take notes, and review what she tells you to. There are many extra credit opportunities, and if you study hard to understand the concepts, you will get an A. She also drops the lowest exam and some homework.
She is a good professor but if you do not pay attention, you will fall behind very quickly. The reviews before exams were only slightly helpful.
The class can be difficult but she is very willing to help. She does also provide numerous extra credit opportunities.
I can't say enough good things about Johnson; some of these other reviews genuinely shock me. I found her lectures very engaging and easy to follow with. She doesn't give much exam study guide, but taking notes will seriously give you ALL you need to study, and if you attend office hours, she will do ANYTHING to help you! Amazing person and prof
Really good lectures, exams are multiple choice, not that much math.
Not too bad, pretty interesting class overall.
I don't really like this professor, not because to say, but during the exam she was legit standing in the area where I was at (specifically pretty close to where I was sitting for 15 MINUTES!!!!!) I'm thinking, does she think I'm cheating? Pretty predictable behavior, I would say. Lectures are not that engaging,to be honest, and the dice system, 0!
This is for 3113. She was very kind and engaging and answered every question I asked. Tests weren't too hard because they are modeled after the homework. She graded harsher than I expected on our final projects but that was ok because I did good in the course before that. She also offers extra credit often.
Professor Johnson is definitely one of the best teachers I've ever had. I've always struggled with economics, but now I have a 98 in her class because she explains everything so clearly. She takes time to make sure everyone understands and offers plenty of extra credit if you attend class. If you show up and pay attention, you'll do great!
She was good, but you have to pay attention in class, study material is buns tho.
The ratings are so wrong. Professor Johnson wants everyone to succeed in her class. Attendance is not mandatory, but if you attend, there is a fun way to get bonus points on each exam (4), all multiple choice, with one being the final; the lowest one drops. If you go to class and take notes, you can easily get an A. Take this class
Attendance isn't mandatory in her class but when I did attend she explained stuff very clearly. She gives out a ton of bonus points if you go to her classes though. The exams are all multiple choice but they're pretty difficult (econ is just a hard subject). Great micro professor and obviously passionate about economics and helping us understand it
Not a very good teacher, doesn't explain the material very well. I have to go to a tutor every day to learn the information. Not very compassionate towards students either.
Prof. Johnson was amazing for microecon! If you show up and pay attention during lecture, you'll be set. Prof. Johnson writes her own exams, so there's no unexpected topics. Great class!
Attendance is optional but she does offer a lot of extra credit and if you show up to class she'll give you bonus points on exams. I didn't really talk to her much but when I did she was really nice. My advice is to just show up to the lectures and pay attention because the extra credit she gave saved me and her lectures were super helpful
Prof. Johnson is clearly passionate about teaching and she is great at it! Lots of extra credit opportunities, it's hard to *not* pass. Lowest exam is dropped and this can be used for the final. She made hard topics easy to understand and she definitely cares about all her students succeeding.
You got rewarded for going to class and its really up to you to learn the material
Got rewarded for showing up to class. Your grade is really just a matter of how much work you put in.
not a hard class but not an easy A, prepare to study hard for exams
I will always say that Dr. Johnson is the best professor in the Econ department. She is always in such a good mood and is a wonderful professor. She hands out TONS of extra credit for attendance. Honestly, if you show up to class it's hard not to get an A. If you're on the fence about a class of her's, take it. Easy A, nice professor, and fun!
Not someone you want to be your professor, the in class lectures are hard to follow. She does extra credit but it is not very fair. She will not bump your grade up.
She is incredible! Showing up makes all the difference in grades and she makes lectures entertaining and engaging! Highly recommend!
