Chemistry for nursing is such a difficult class but she honestly saved me. She is more than willing to help any students out and she wants nothing more than to see her students succeed. That being said, according to the department there are only 4 tests, one being an optional test so pay attention in class. Hard class great professor!

I am so glad that I chose Kovener as a professor. Nursing chem does not come naturally to some people, and she is willing to take the time out and help you. I went to her so many times for extra help! Her tests are not that difficult, its just a class that requires a lot of studying because there is so much info. I definitely recommend her!!

She is the best Chem 109 professor. I am so happy I took her! She really wants her students to do well and understands us. She is very intelligent as we had 2 exams, one Top up exam(replaces your lowest grade exam) and the final. Quizzes are online and her exams are very fair! If you study the material you can receive an A! Great Professor!

What an amazing professor! She was so helpful and knowledgeable, and available whenever you need help. She tries to make the course as painless as possible. No lab reports (if you have her for lab) and wants to see everyone do well. Make sure you study, don't slack off, and do the TLOs, and you're sure to pass her class.

Honestly the best professor I've had so far. She's super helpful and her tests directly follow the TLOs and the stuff we do in recitation. I was dreading this class because I hate chemistry, but she made it fun and straightforward. There's 4 tests but 1 is optional and a bunch of quizzes that are online. Put in the work and an A is possible.

One of the best professors I've ever had. The course in itself was difficult but lab and quizzes really help your grade. It's a 5 credit course so be prepared to put in work, but she is there to help every step of the way. I barely passed the 3 tests and manage to get a B-.

LOVE HER! She will make Dimensional analysis a BREEZE. She is clear on what she needs from you. she doesnt use a text book, all you need is in her lectures and powerpoints, so pay attention. I wish I had her for all my classes.

I have her for Chemistry 109 Recitation, so I can't really rate her on her lectures. However, she's pretty helpful in recitation. I don't think she really cares about our class that much since we have a different professor for lecture & lab, but she does answer our questions in class. I know she's the best lecture professor at Adelphi, so take her!

one word to describe her is AMAZING. she wants the best for her students and will fight for them. All her test are straight from the TLOS do them and youll do good, All the quizes are online and she gives you 3 attempts to take them. Chem is not an essay class but she makes it enjoyable. I wish I had her for ever class.

If you get her for Chem 109 you are in good shape. It is a very hard class and has ton of information. You might have to teach yourself some stuff since she isn't the best at explaining or teaching everything. Overall it is an alright class. If chem isn't your best subject you might have some problems.

Professor Kovener is an amazing professor! She really cares about her students and gets to know them on a personal level. She makes you really work for your grade though. Make sure you take your weekly quizzes. Ask questions and she will explain it until you fully understand. I loved her!

Prof Kovener's class was not easy but with hard work and dedication you can get a good grade. My first test I got a C but as I learned her teaching style and did ALL of the TLO's I advanced to an A- at the end of the semester. You will really be proud of your grade in the end if you work hard. She's really helpful outside of class!!

Chemistry is NOT EASY but Kovener does a great job of simplifying everything. Weekly online quiz, try to do good on them because overall quiz grade will help final grade @ the end. Exams are based off TLO's, she can come off as intimidating but she is very helpful. Department Cumulative final exam IS HARD much more difficult then the other exams!!

Professor Kovener is an amazing professor. She made chemistry understandable for somebody who always had a hard time with the subject. Granted you do have to put in a lot of work & SHOW UP TO CLASS. The powerpoints are there, but nothing prepares you more for the tests/quizzes than actually being in class. Absolutely take her if you can!

I dont write reviews on any professors but I felt the need to give credit where its due. Prof Kovener is amazing at what she does. Literally just study the slides ( which arn't even hard ) do the TLO's and you will get high 90's on everything. Youre EXTREMELY lucky if you get her, and basically screwed if you get anybody else lol

I love Professor Kovener! She is amazing. You don't need to buy the textbook so don't waste your money. But the "red book" and the lab manual are required. She knows that chemistry is probably the hardest class of the nursing requirements. There are two tests and a top up exam which can replace the first or second exam. She is also really funny!

shes soo nice and funny, great teacher you can clearly understand her, really helps alot the only bad thing is that the final is departmental and is made by parkins with input from the rest of the profs although i dont think he takes it and it is very different from her test so do what you want with that info she also drops lowest test and quiz

Taking her class really just gives you such a positive and great feeling because youre actually understanding chemistry, which is notoriously the hardest subject in all of school lol. She was absolutely awesome as a professor! she deserves all of these fantastic reviews

She is truly a blessing to Adelphi. She creates a positive atmosphere with her upbeat personality. She makes Chemistry understandable and is very fair. There are two exams, a top up exam and a final. The top up allows you to replace you're lowest exam score. Make sure you do the four TLO's and you will be fine. Overall a great experience.

Learned more in this 1 class than my other 3 chem classes over the years. Honestly if you have the privilege of taking her class and put in the work you will be rewarded. Not only is she a great professor, but she is also funny. Easy to understand, and able to get the lecture material across in an easy to understand way. I was definitely fortunate to have her this semester and finished with an A-. I was nervous having to take a chem course but environment was fun and laid back. If you can take her, DO IT!!!

samantha kovener is my favorite teacher i've ever had at adelphi so far. she is so funny and relates chemistry to things we already know in life. i followed her powerpoints and did her TLOs and scored an A+ on both!! She is so great i highly recommend her for physiological chemistry!!

If you pay attention in class, all of the information you need is in the power points and TLOs. She is a blessing to anyone who has the chance to have her. Quiz once a week online with 3 attempts. She is super helpful. Her tests are straight forward. She doesn't baby. She prepares you well. If you're not willing to do the work, then don't complain.

She takes time to give you feedback during and after class, she gives you TLO to help you practice what you learned in class. Chemistry is hard overall so I wouldn't suggest missing class. She funny and caring and shows it towards her students. She's no one of those professors who rambles on but takes time to teach. Surely recommend for Chem.

For someone who struggles with chem, she is the professor you want to take it with. She is so understanding and caring. If you are not understanding the material in class I HIGHLY recommend going to her office hours. If it was not for her, I don't think I would have made it without her. Just make sure you DO your quizzes! Very important!

Professor Kovener is my favorite prof at Adelphi! She will make you work for your grade, but as long as you are going to office hours, doing your quizzes, and actually listening during rec, you'll be fine! She's a true gem and really prepares you for med calc

Professor Kovener is hands down the best. Chem 109 is the nursing chem required by Adelphi for all nursing majors to take. Chemistry is difficult, but if you put in the effort you will do well. Pay attention, listen, and follow the TLOs (topic learning objectives) she gives out for each topic. I wish she taught more than just CHE109 at Adelphi!

Prof. Kovener is such a great teacher! She's so kind, helpful, and has superb teaching techniques. Make sure you attend and pay attention to lectures because she does make you work for your grade. I took her online for the summer, and she was awesome! She does crack some jokes on the way, and she is very helpful during office hours! 100% recommend!

Definitely don't miss class, she teaches in a way that is very understandable. Takes her time to answer questions and help her students succeed. Breaks down topics into TLOs to help you understand better. Study the TLOs because those questions will help with the exams! Very passionate about what she teaches and super nice! Study and work hard!

Professor Kovener is the best professor I have ever had. I struggled so much in HS with chemistry and she made it so much more simple with her interactive lectures (even though they are on zoom). She gives you chances to boost your grade with quizzes and is always accessible outside of class if you have any questions. TAKE HER!!!!

I adored having her as my professor. Really made sure we had an understanding of lectures but doing a lot of activities in and out of class. Super nice and understanding in emails. She actually made learning chemistry fun and her personality is amazing! Work hard in and out of class and use resources from lab to help with exams! Seriously the best!

Didn't use the textbook at all, her TLO review sheets are all you need, and take notes on her ppts! She does a really good job explaining all the material and will make time to host review sessions before exams. Very patient and understanding professor, despite this semester, being crazy. Class consists of 3-4 exams so study and take them all!

I was never good at chem but Kovener made it so easy. 3 exams, lowest one dropped, and there are weekly quizzes with 3 attempts on them. Take her if you can! Chemistry is already a hard subject yet she is able to explain in a way everyone can understand. She is also very nice and is always happy when you go to office hour. I think her exams are fair. Just do the questions from the docs she posts on moodle(Recitation) TLOs, and the weekly quizzes(3 attempts) and you will do fine!

Great Professor! Ive never taken high school chemistry and dont have any chemistry background yet she made me feel very intelligent in this area. Whenever any of us students were confused, she helped clarify very well. I wish I could have had her for other classes. Just follow her TLOs and review sheets and youll get an A.

Kovener made learning chemistry pretty simple, I was scared before taking it but it honestly wasn't bad at all. Recitation activities help a lot. lets you out of lab when your group finishes. take notes on her ppts and study the tlos. dont skip class. review sheets aren't that similar to the test but recitation activities help.

the class is just hard, there is no better way of putting it, she teaches as best as she can but you need to be studying constantly, the first test will be easy but don't that trick you, it only gets worse from there, honestly you can pay attention all day but you need to still take time out to study

BEST chem professor in the department. im horrible at chem but this woman was able to make the material easy to understand. but beware the exams r tricky. u really need to put in the work & study in order to get an A. there are weekly quizzes along w four exams, they consist of MC/DA/short resp. as long as you pay attention and review youll be fine

Best professor in the entire chem department by far. She really makes the material easy to understand and gives a LOT of helpful resources on Moodle. But, you do have to study, A LOT. Also, if you have questions just email her or go to office hours, she's very helpful and wants everyone to pass. Tests are VERY fair. She does have favorites though.

Excellent professor, very caring. Very nice and tried to make class fun when possible. Teaches the material very well. Chem has always been my worst subject but she was such a good teacher, I really understood the material. I studied my notes and did a lot of practice worksheets. Tough test grader especially for math,but it helps you for NCLEXtest.

Professor Kovner is one of the best professors adelphi has. The class is very test/quiz heavy but she gives you so many tries and guides to do well. Office hours are always helpful. Study guides and review sheet are clearly formated. If you can get her all three section it makes so much of a difference. She's honestly amazing!

Was nervous for this class in the beginning, but she WILL MAKE YOU LEARN IN SUCH AN UNDERSTANDABLE WAY. her recitation activities, in class sheets, pps and good notes is all you need to use for her exams. Responds to emails fast and always avaliable to help. TAKE HER IF YOU CAN, BUT REMEMBER YOU STILL NEED TO PUT IN WORK.

Take her for Chem 109! I had never taken medicine before in my life, but she made it so easy. She provides worksheets and a lot of other resources, making the material much easier. only two exams, plus a top-up and a final. She lets you use the top-up to change your exam 1 or 2 grade, or you can just not count the top-up.

The best chemistry professor at Adelphi. It is a hard class to understand. However, if you truly pay attention, become active in participation, and study the material you should be more than fine. she gives a lot of great lectures, online quizzes and multiple opportunities to have a good grade in the class. Chemistry is hard as it is, but she really broke it down enough where we were able to understand it. The exams are exactly like her review sheet. Personally if you don't pay attention or miss one day I feel like it throws you off in the class and are lost. Her office hours will be a life saver. She genuinely cares about her students.

Her lectures as well as her after class review sessions were very informative.She gives you various methods on how to retain the information,ALWAYS use her study guides for exams.Without a doubt if it wasn't for her I wouldn't have passed.

She is the best chem prof in the chem dept. She had review sessions which a lot of teachers/ other chem profs don't do.This is why she has a high passing rate from her students. Chem is demanding whether u have a good professor like her or not you still have to put in work to pass. I will say she takes off points on test for the smallest things.

I absolutely hate chem, but professor Kovener made it so fun. Chem is a hard topic in general, but she makes it so clear and understandable. Her weekly quizzes are not hard and they help so much in retaining info. Her TLO's are all as she says and exactly on the test, her review sheets are literally almost like the test. AMAZING teacher. I hated highschool chem but she made it really easy to understand. Lectures were entertaining as she is really funny. Take notes, pay attention and study alot and you will be fine. She does provide alot of homework but it helps to boost your grade. If you need it, utilize her office hours she explains things really well.

For her office hours she's always happy to help, honestly going to miss chem. The course has weekly quizzes, weekly hw and tests with multiple review sheets for each.

Of course you have to study and work hard but why wouldn't you have to do that in a chemistry class as a nursing major. if you simply ask questions, do all your work/lab assignments (which are easy) and go to lab there is no reason why you shouldn't pass this class. i love her teaching methods i honestly loved her

Professor Kovener is really not as bad as the reviews say. Her class is boring but as long as you pay attention you should mostly know whats going on. The quizzes in every recitation is also annoying but are easy to get by if you listen to lecture. Her tests are SO long but not too terrible. I would recommend doing the review sheets.

I see alot of people submitting in bad reviews but I honestly don't see why. I mean she wasnt a spectacular professor but she wasn't bad either. She was just your average good professor. Going to her office hours helped alot and i'd say that if you followed with what she was teaching then the material wasn't too difficult. Tests were fair as well.

Chem is not my strongest subject; however, Kovener made the class much easier to understand. I truly believe that if you put in the effort, you can pass.
