powerpoint presentations are very helpful, and she spends a lot of time making things easier to understand. sometimes it helps just to hear a different p.o.v. on the topics and stuff. i would definitely recommend going to the sessions if you are going to take 2130

EXTREMELY helpful... i repeat, if you are taking this class for the first time GO TO THE SESSIONS. she does awesome reviews, and it def helps to hear the material and do the practice quizes and things. knows her stuff, and hot too!!

Very approachable. Sometimes SI seems like a waste of time, but I found to overall be good. She is nice and very honest if you ask for advice about grades or classes. Maybe it is because she is graduating in 2 weeks, but sometimes was a little indifferent during sessions. Too bad for next years BIOL 2120 and 2130 students, since she is not teach

You can't fail this lab if you utilize the resources she provides wisely. Study guides, lab report guides, very helpful outside of lab when you need it.. Highly recommended. I learned more and enjoyed this lab more than any other.

If you have to take an Anatomy Lab take her! She's clear about what you need to study, a younger teacher, makes it fun. Study what she says and you'll pass!

She is a young professor who has a sleeve tattoo of a woman breastfeeding a child and a medusa piercing. She is really good at explaining things and if you need help she will definitely help you. Today in our lecture she bought the entire class notecards to make flash cards to study with and I could have cried from the sweetness. Take her for sure. Her exams are hard but very fair. I enjoy her lectures. She is teaching this class next semester on Monday and Wednesday.

Easy class but the tests require you to study and have an understanding of all the lecture material. She doesn't curve anything either so take the final serious even if it seems like it's over easy material (ecology) I would go to the final prep. It brought me down from an A to a B.

Dr. Furr-Rogers is honestly my favorite professor Ive ever had. She was so helpful outside of class... and I needed a lot of it. She never made me feel like a nuisance and I actually understood her lectures because she makes them so clear and easy to follow. The lecture guides she made were a solid bonus. Her tests are hard but hey its biology.

This class is an easy A. She really cares about her students passing the class. I am actually mad at myself because I got a B+ when I knew this was an easy A. The second test is probably the most difficult. Her tests used question from the study area on MB. Her lectures also basically the powerpoints. Her lecture guides are all you need to study.

Dr. Furr-Rogers is an amazing professor. She cares very much about her students and likes to joke around. I am not great at biology so I often went to her office and emailed her questions. She was always happy to help and never made me feel like I was annoying. Her tests were tough for me but just study off of her PowerPoints and you will do fine.

Dr. Rogers made a hard class seem less daunting with her resources she made us, time spent helping us, and encouragement given to all. I looked forward to her class. Dont skip lectures, they are vital to understanding the material. Why have to teach yourself when you have her to make it so simple for you? Study a lot. Use her resources.

This class was fun! Lectures are fairly lengthy but theres hardly ever a dull moment when shes going through them. If a student has a question on a concept that theyre struggling with, shell give pretty in-depth explanations for them to ensure that they understand the concept. Only thing you have to worry about is falling behind on homework!

The best biology professor you could take at UNCC. Attendance isn't required but please show up to class or you will not do very well on the exams. Exams are super easy to pass but show up to class and study your notes and you'll pass with an A on every one plus she gives extra credit. The lectures she gives aren't even bad.

She is super laidback and a very straightforward teacher. Everything she lectures is posted online and her practice quizzes reflect her tests. The online chapter readings are easy and are a big chunk of the grade, anything you dont understand she will be willing to help you.

I loved this professor! I had this class at 8:30 am, but she made it worth waking up and going. she kept the lectures interesting and was very good at explaining the material. the tests were a little difficult, but if you study you can do really well.

She tries to keep her lectures engaging and interesting, you can tell she is extremely intelligent and passionate about biology. You won't regret taking her class!

Dr. Furr-Rogers is an amazing professor! She is very appreciativate of her students and is always on top of her A grade. Grades are posted the day of an assignment or when a test was taken. She sends out reminds and updates after every class. She makes lectures simple and easy. If you go to class and read the notes, test are super easy!

Dr. Furr-Rogers is the best that the biology department has to offer. Her lectures are amazing and she tries to help solidify the concepts you are learning through demonstration. You have a reading each week before class with a quiz but it isn't long or hard. Her tests are straightforward and most of the questions are from the practice quizzes.

Her lectures are very helpful. The textbook is free, which is amazing! Before every lecture, we were required to read a specific chapter and take a short quiz. Most times there are poll everywhere questions, so make sure not to skip! The kahoot reviews are very helpful too! Sometimes we have in class group works, so make sure to find a partner!

Prof made the material easy to understand, she's a great lecturer and overall an incredible person. Didn't take attendance as it was a large lecture, but there are graded in-class activities including poll-everywhere. There are short quizzes based on the reading (also, textbook's free!) before class. Loved this class, especially the prof!

Dr. Furr-Rogers is an awesome professor. Her lectures are very smooth and easy to understand. She always lets us know ahead of time whenever there is an test. She gives us practice quizzes and kahoot review for each test which is very helpful. I like the way how she post the powerpoint notes on canvas so we can review anytime when we need.

She is easy to find outside of class. But she assigns reading homework and your grade for class is based upon your reading quizzes, poll everywheres, the 3 tests and your final so make sure to do the work and study hard.

Amazing professor. Cares about her students and is always happy to be in class. There are reading quizzes on chapters of the textbook usually weekly but you get 2 chances. Polls are done in class that count for participation but are very easy. Show up to class and do the homework and you will get an A.

She is AMAZING, if you dont like biology, she still teaches well enough that youll pass with a good grade. Come to class for interactive activities that help with your understanding. Shes super friendly and always willing to help.

She is a really awesome professor! The class I was in had about 150 people but she included activities in her lectures. There is no homework, just some easy online reading quizzes. There are 3 tests and 1 final. If you apply yourself the class will be easy.

This class really changed my expectations of college. Sadly none of my other courses Ive taken have lived up to how awesome BIOL 1110 was. Easily the BEST and most USEFUL class Ive taken here. Please take this class with Dr. Furr-Rogers. I made so many friends and gained lots of confidence from this class too.

She is the best because she makes lectures fun and a comfortable environment. Just by going to class, you have a great chance of doing well on the exams. Sometimes that will give you all the info you need and don't need to study. Other than exams there's mostly just online hw. Which can be hard to keep up with. Classwork isn't graded often.

Dr. Furr-Rodgers is by far the best professor I have ever had. I say "attendance mandatory," by that I mean that she has poll everywhere within her lectures. Her lectures keep you interested and her tests are easy if you simply pay attention and study. She is very sweet and provides many resources for you to pass the class. YOU WANT TO HAVE HER.

Dr. Furr-Rogers is a super sweet professor, she genuinely cares about her kids and their education, she even goes as far as to find a free textbook so you don't have to go out of your way to purchase one. Her tests are "hard" (according to others), but I found if you review the notes and study the kahoot, you'll be fine every time. 10/10

Super super nice and caring, very flexible with students while dealing with COVID. Has lecture notes that are basically fill in the blank which I didnt like so I took notes on my own which was fine. Material is easy to understand, you dont really need to use the textbook because her tests are basically all from her slides, definitely take her

I love Dr. Sam. This class might have been online but I feel like I learned so much. We had groups we worked with (online, mine met through FaceTime) but I actually really enjoyed talking to and working with other students at a time I dont get the chance to do that often. Take this class you wont regret it!

She was such a great professor! The tests were a little iffy for me but as long as you study for them you will be fine. She was very encouraging with her students and made the class feel entertaining. Make sure to do your quizzes and study for the tests, though!

I took her asynchronous class. She gave clear feedback although the time it took her was sometimes a little too much. Her lectures were easy to follow and were expected to complete were as one would expect. By staying organized it will be easy to manage and keep a good grade. Wish more professor were like her!

This was a great class! I really enjoyed the professor. She is very knowledgeable and has a predictable schedule with the same things due every week: a quiz on Tuesday and a group activity and short mini exam on Friday. The whole schedule was also planned from day 1. If you are someone who likes to be organized, you will love this class!

Dr. Sam makes biology super interesting because she knows biology and teaches it well. The textbook for her class is free (bio1110). She keeps you engaged and is super friendly and her assignments are not too overwhelming. She is the sweetest professor at UNC Charlotte!

She has very clear schedule of what to do every week. Its basically self paced throughout the week and it might be easy to fall behind if you dont pay attention but just keep up with all the assignments and you will be fine. Quizzes are super easy and you have 2 chances on them. Tests need to be studied for, and you have group projs that are easy

A great class! ( Even online) Dr. Sam makes it so fun and we all look forward to lecture every week. We only meet once and the other day is for activities/reading. We work in groups, but we pick them and its nice to work with friends and new people. You do read three books about diseases, but theres no textbook. Cant recommend enough!

Get ready to work with people. You have groups that you can choose depending on day time/evening time and you basically stick with them throughout the semester. There exams on each topic every week, group reflection every week. group research project for final. Lowest grade in quizzes, survey/reflection, low test grade gets dropped as an ex Credit.

**BIO1110** Class setup is super beneficial! You have work due on Wednesday and Sunday. You must join a group at the beginning of the semester with which you will complete all assignments with. This brings a sense of community to the online setup. She also genuinely cares about your well-being. Definitely recommend!

She is an amazing professor. Textbook is free, she gives an online pdf. Every week is a lecture, background quiz, group case study, and topic assessment. Everything is open note and very easy as long as you fill out the lecture online during the lecture. Lockdown browser for topic assessments but no webcam :)). She's very understanding and open.

This class is really fun. I would love to take it in person. Lectures are interesting, and group projects/readings are a big part of your grade, there are only two tests. If you go to the lectures and participate and pay attention, you will learn a lot and do well grade-wise. Be sure you ask questions, interact,and take advantage of her knowledge!!

An amazing class! I've never been so interested in a course so much! I took the summer course so there was a lot to do in 5 weeks, but it was manageable. There were two exams and a group presentation that wasn't bad at all, but the exams were a bit difficult. Homework included group activities and reading quizzes based on 3 books. Please take her!!

This class is so easy and Dr. Sam is so sweet and really helpful! There is a lot of group work but all of the work is fairly easy and she gives good feedback on everything.

Even though its all on your own she sets it up to make sure that its not overwhelming. 10/10 recommend. Easy A.

There is a required textbook, but she also gives it to you for free online. The class is genuinely so easy. Show up for lectures, get an outline for notes, easy 100 there. Every week is a 20 question quiz (which normally 90%of those are given to you through Kahoot or her polls in class). I think I spent maybe 5 hours the entire semester studying?

Care if you understand the subject and wants to help you.

Sam was absolutely amazing, she cares about her students and also give feedbacks on all of her assignments. There was rarely any HW, all work was done during class time and her lectures are engaging, simple, and fun. Quizzes and tests are fairly easy if u paid attention and show up to class.

FANTASTIC teacher! There's a weekly topic assessment about the topic for the week, but no other exams. Final is a project that you work on during the semester. Attendance isn't mandatory, but she's a really great teacher and makes all of the topics interesting.

Amazing professor!! A lot of group assignments but don't need to work in a group if you don't want to. Final project you work on throughout the semester, and are given class time to work on it, very easy. Attendance wasn't mandatory but there were some class participation days and you can get your hw done in class if you go. Tests were very easy.

She is hands down the best biology professor at Charlotte and definitely plan to take her again in the future! Such a caring, respected, and intelligent woman. Relevant assignments and made me decide that biology was the major to pursue when I was debating on choosing a major.

In my first semester and UNCC, I was undecided and was only considering Bio as my major, but Dr. Sam and this class were big parts of the scale tipping into bio! Took this online and it was fairly easy. Grades are clear from the beginning and the weeks are pretty much the same making things easy. Only downfall are group activities every week and a group final. My group sucked. Stay on top of things and you're good! Professor is very efficient and responsive as well.

Workload is easy and group work every week but is not overbearing. Big group project at the end that you should work on in advance of deadline, not difficult at all just require many steps.

This class was online asynchronous. The professor is very clear and organized when it comes to work. We worked in online groups all semester which I think would really impact the way you feel about the class. For me, the class was super easy and I would definitely recommend.

This was the first course I was excited about taking. I learned so much and it was just fascinating every class. The lectures, readings and supplemental material are the required resources which she provides on Canvas. You do have three books that you read through the semester and grades are based off several different things not just exams.

The best professor I have had since coming to college. I try to take all of the classes she teaches. Most caring, understanding, and easily accessible professor I've had. If you get the opportunity to take her class, do it. Be respectful of her and her time and she will do the same for you. Her lectures are fun and motivates me to attend them!

Although she gave group work (gross), I will not hold that against her. She makes up for it in so many other ways. She's a very good lecturer and explains the information effectively; no unnecessary sidebars. Her tests are straightforward, no trickery. Her weekly reading assignments are straightforward, easy A. Take Dr. Sam if you can! Her class is so easy and organized where Tuesdays are lecture (provided notes outline) and Thursdays are activities (easy assignment where you just watch some videos & navigate a website) The tests are based directly off the lectures and there are so many opportunities to get extra points if you don't do well on a test.

TAKE DR. SUPTELA! She is very good at teaching the difficult concepts of biology. She explains everything in detail and the test are easy as long as you pay attention in class. I don't think I read one chapter in the textbook and still got an A in the class just from her lectures. A lot of easy assignments and 3 tests with optional final.

Dr. Suptela was fun and kind. Her lectures were informative and entertaining, and it was pretty easy to do well in the course if you attended class. The coursework isn't hard and there isn't a big commitment outside of class time. Highly recommend and would take her course again.

BIO 1110 is an excellent introductory class with Mrs.Suptela. She has a lot of resources for you to be able to succeed. I enjoyed this class because she also challenges you to think about the kinds of information you are taking in regarding scientific literacy. I respected this part a great deal because you will learn more than just about biology.

Dr. Sam is the best biology teacher I've ever had. She makes biology easy to understand, fun, and engaging. She has a very forgiving late work policy and is an all-around cool human being.

One of the best professors I have ever had. Great lectures, does an amazing job of teaching the content. One day was a lecture the other day is an activity day. You do the activity in class so you can ask any questions. Exams are all multiple choice and super clear. Highly recommend.

You do not need to buy the text book for the class from the library, she provides an online version of it for free. She is very knowledgeable in her filed of study and the class is easy to follow. The assignments she givs are not difficult and she does not assign an excessive amount of work.

One of the best classes offered at UNCC. She goes into a lot of detail if you prompt her to and is very knowledgeable about the subjects. There are 2 tests which are based on the lectures and readings. The readings are 3 very interesting books, no textbook.

Dr. Sam was an incredible professor who cares about students' wellbeing along with the course mastery. Pick your seats wisely, as group projects/activities make up most of your grade. She made the class even extremely enjoyable, and doesn't have class on Fridays. She is smart and willing to help whenever needed. TAKE HER CLASS!

Dr. Sam is a green-haired, Immunology PhD-holding BADDIE with a killer dry sense of humor. HIGHLY recommend this class to any Bio majors who have previously taken or enjoyed Micro or Immunology. I'm a huge micro nerd so of course I loved epidemiology, but I also appreciated that this class (although reading & material heavy) is designed to be fun!

I loved Mrs. Suptela. She knows her stuff and she is a great teacher with the way she explains it. I took it Tuesdays and Thursdays for an 1.15 hrs and I think that was perfect. Tuesdays she taught the entire time and then Thursday she would give a lecture then we had an activity. Test are on lockdown browser, but just study vocab and you're fine.

Such a good class regardless of major. Attendance not mandatory but you should still try and make it to each class. She's super funny, engaging, & not boring at all. You'll get an a as long as you go to class, actually pay attention, and actually do the assignments (which are also very easy if you're paying attention in class).

I really enjoyed her class, she was very responsive to questions and the grading is very lenient. There is no reason to fail this class if you just do the work. If you are in a major that needs a couple science credits and want to take an easy A then this would be a great one. My only recommendation is to attend the lectures.

I took this class online, and it was definitely an easy A! The textbook is online and completely free; they are relatively short chapters, and most of intro biology is just memorization. The assignments are also really easy, typically a short quiz and activity based on the chapter. She rounds up .5 and up for letter grades which is also a plus!
