He reads over the slides in class, but adds a lot to them. Also has a lot of speakers so class is somewhat necessary. The worst part is that the tests are hard and have so much more information than the notes he gives us. It's kind of BS when you think about it because its a level 100 course. Wish he would teach more about ECE as a career.
Lectures are useless. Some of the speakers that come in for ECE 111 are interesting. Some questions on the test are not covered in class.
The class is extremely easy to pass. If you turn in your homework you get 100% on it. No matter how much effort you put in to it. Most invited lectured were boring. But if you show up to the invited lectures and turn in the hw, you only need 66% on the 3 tests for an A. But the test are extremely difficult.
/Very easy course but also necessary to see if Engineering is something you are after
Very cool and hard to hear him should use mic.
A good introductory course. I liked the grading scheme. The TA were never to be found.
Easy course very difficult exams.
No book which makes exams very difficult. Invited lectures were good
No textbook was good but then you had to study off the lectures. Good overview of the field
Good class.
The tests are way too hard for an introduction class. I missed an A grade by a fraction of a point and he did not bump my grade up when i went to talk to him.
This teacher did not care about what he was teaching. You may answer the question perfectly and get the question wrong. Test include many spelling errors. All information is outdated. There is nothing about computers. This class uses the different conventions used in the US. The teacher did not know what he was teaching.
Good class, the instructor added 2% grade for all, which was nice.
He thinks that he knows everything but it is not true. Honestly, I and many others believe that invited lecturers are just fillers and have nothing to do with this class. There is no book for this course. All we have to rely on lecture notes that are poorly compiled. It is a mandatory class otherwise, I would have skipped this.
Very helpful. I went to him to clarify concepts
Good class the new version that he does not teach is horrible.
Good class took from him in my freshman year
An ok course
A long course
Sometimes it is difficult to understand as he talks so quietly may be a microphone will help in a class of 100 students. The tests are easy but too many with typos.
I can't understand him
This professor is the reason I'm not an engineering major anymore. His lectures didn't make any sense, and sometimes he was rude to students who didn't know the answer to something. He required a doctor's note every time you missed class. I dropped this class after a month because I literally couldn't take it anymore. Beware.
Easy class
Overall ok class
Very lecture heavy lots of materials to cover.
Tough course with lot of materials
Too much material is covered but very easy class. They should change the time from 8am to something more later in the day.
A tough course for introduction to the whole field. You basically have to be there in every class.
Nothign special about the class.
There is a system for this class. He uses slides for the lecture and based on that asks questions in tests some seven tests. There is a lot of work.
There is a lot of material beign covered
A very tough class. There is a lot fo stuff he covers. There are many test. Good feature are the invited lecturers.
Very basic class and there is a lot of material to cover. Attend, pay attention, and get an A.
There was a lot of stuff covered and very little practical work.
A tought course for being introductory.
I would not take this course, what is the use, it is not a prerequisite for anything and the Department does not let you transfer it from anywhere, you just have to sit in it.
I took course from Dr. Khan a few years ago. I found him very courteous and engaging. The course itself was very intense with many tests but he made it a very plesent experience for all students. I will recommend him.
Took this class to fill electives was a lot of material to cover. Tests are too many and long. He is funny and helpful.
Very good teacher but too many topics he is covering
Trick questions on exams. Try to show that is smart instead of teaching. Knowledge but NOT a great teacher. Stay away from this class when you see his name otherwise you better be good in programming.
Very good teacher. Now he is gone and it is being taught by 5 different people. So sad he is not teaching this. He is a tough grader but my fault for making silly mistakes in exams.
Teaches a systematic courcse with exams build on tests which are built on quizzes. He has people come to the class to give lectures which is very good. I like it.
Solid teaching. Many tests.
Lots of material is being covered.
I took this class to fulfill credits. It was a bit tough for me to follow concepts because it was from a different filed. But the instructor was great.
Covers a lot of topics. Good course if you pay attention. A lot of quizzes.
Very test heavy. Good instructor. You can learn a lot.
This course was what made be switch from EE major to Comp Engr major.
Teaches well.
There is a lot of work in this class, easy but a lot of work.
I like his style, teaches well, but many tests
I liked the course.
Tooooo many quizes.
Too much stree on quizes and other in class activities. I liked the invited ex NDS studnets very motivational.
Just an OK class. the usual one gets at NDSU. He is a nice person though.
I agree will other remarks, there are too many tests for an entry level class. But he teaches well and is respected.
The course is a lot of work. A lot of work beware of that. As instructor he is really good. Sets clear expectations and follows through. Very caring. I like the external lecturer series as well.
Good lecturing. I liked the outside inspirational spekers showed us many valuable lessons.
A fantastic teacher
I enjoyed the class activities especially the invited lectures from alumni
One of the best classes I had
I really enjoyed the course. It had many tests but enjoyable because of the several invited lectures.
One of the best ECE professors!!!!!! Dr. Khan is the best.....
Hands down the besttttttt!!!!!
I enjoyed the course as it was my first exposure to electrical and computer engineering. The invited lectures were great as it helped me choose concentration. Too many tests though.
A lot of tests and I mean a lot of tests. Very funny person tries a lot to keep students engaged. Excellent course
I loved this course
My first class at NDSU and it was very nice to have him as instructor. He was very curtious and engaging. Most important were the guest lectures.
The best teacher I had at NDSU. Super nice guy a bit hard to hear when you are at the back of the class.
My first course at NDSU I still rememeber it fondly. A very good teacher.
An introductory course that covers a lot of topics and he teaches them with enthusiasm. I wish the test were limited. The invited lectures are nice touch from alumi.
My first class in NDSU. It was fun and he teaches very well. The time of the class needs to change, who starts a Monday at 8am in -20 temps.
Not an easy first class if you ask me but going there being attentive will give you oppurtunity to ace the tests, which basically are on class materials.
I recommend the instructor.
What a tough course for freshmen.
Sadly he does not teach this class anymore. I wish he did again. He was wonderful.
The course was very tough for me as a transfer student. It covered the whole spectrum of the department. I had a tough time. But he was a good teacher.
It was a lot of material covered. Gave good insights into the field.
The best
Good teacher one of the best.
Excellent approach to teaching , puts students first all the time, always available to answer questions.
Just a tough class all together.
Seems he has left NDSU. I took his class a while back it was a good overview of the whole ECE field.
Passionate teacher
