Sameh is one of the best ITM professors that we have. He is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to IT. He really cares about the students who try and is always willing to help if you ask . He's down to earth and does not waste much time on pointless slides. The course was very challenging but Sameh did his best to help us. Take him!
Sameh is a good professor. The course however was not managed properly, deadlines were confusing and there was WAY TO MUCH WORK! This is understandable as it was the first semester it had been taught. However, Sameh is knowledgeable and helpful. He answers emails promptly and cares for his students. He can also be surprisingly humorous at 8am.
Good professor. He provided his experience in the IT field as a way to apply many of the concepts taught in class. However, The course is a lot of work. Cases are due every week and there is minimal feedback given. The prof was nice and provided the exam questions before completing but was brutal on marking. Average A student but received C and B-.
OK, he is a hard-grader but you will learn a lot in his class. He explains material well. He uses real-life examples, and frankly if you do the work, you will be rewarded with a good grade.
Professor Sameh is really good at explaining difficult concepts. He seems to enjoy what he does and tries to help students as much as possible. It is not an easy course, and he does expect good quality work, but students should expect that in their fourth year.
As long as you come to class, he is the best professor you can ever take a class from. However, you have to be on top of your assignments and cases if you want to succeed. If you put in effort, you will have a great experience.
Super tough grader. Makes this class seems like its rocket science. He is a gpa killer
Avoid at all costs, exam was BRUTAL, 10x harder than ITM500. Lectures lasted 20 mins at tops and were always ended with a reminder of how hard the final will be, which it was. Had to re-enroll in summer school to get this credit.
ITM 707 is a fourth year course based on case analysis. There are weekly case submissions, and so long as you put the effort in to either read the concepts in detail, or show up to class and take notes, you should be fine. This is a fourth year course, and he expects fourth year writing and analysis ability.
I do not recommend this professor as he is very picky on grading. He teaches okay but marking wise, it is brutal
Honestly, the prof is really helpful during labs, and gives most of the answers! However, don't ever take this course as an elective, it's the worst. Extreme levels of reading required, and lots and lots of definitions.
ITM100 is a heavy course and professor Al Natour tought it so it highlighted the important parts and he tried to make it as relevnt and entertaining as possible. He is always there if you need help, and answers his emails very fast. Make sure you attend the classes as he hints on the most important materil and make sure you read the textbook!!
Sameh Al Natour is a great prof according to my experience. He always provided good examples which made it easier to understand the hard content in the course. Attending the lectures definitely made it easier to understand the course material better. He is always ready to answer your questions and concerns if you have any.
Had him for my 8 am lectures and it just gets really boring. Attendance is not mandatory as he mainly goes through slides and goes off on tangents. When class is about 3/4 of the way through its 2 hour lecture, he would always speed up through the slides as opposed to his usual long unnecessary explanations.
What can you say about class lectures that even the slides are made by publisher. Read something worthy while he tries to read slides. I was looking for famous "excel labs". But Two TAs who know less than you. And it turned out the lab exam was the copy of last year!! He didn't even changed one digit. Ask him to the excel tasks for you during exam.
Robotic reading of the slides: barely awake in lectures (him more than us!!) His labs are joke. His lab instructors do not know the answers. Look at the book or google instead of asking.
A very engaging professor, and explains things very well. Need to attend class if you want a good grade.
He's a very straightforward prof. Go to his lectures. Study chapters on the book before exams then you should be fine. He's a caring prof; even gave extensions to those that didn't pass the workshop and bootcamp forms, but do know that he might not do this next time. Clear criteria. Tells you what's exactly on the exam.
Goes by quickly but if you listen to the lecture, you should be able to get further understanding of the slides. Case Discussions are not shared via slides so if you want to be in the know then you have to show up for class.
Great prof who really cares about your grades. Gives great review slides and also goes over the lab reviews with you. Also gave bonus marks sometimes for his 8 am class since very less people would show up.
Great prof in my experience. Very knowledgable, often goes a little bit away from the course content to give a real life example which I appreciated. Highly recommend.
Lots of weekly stuff, not a bad prof a tough grader on case studies tho.
Sameh made sure to have students submit weekly case studies only to mark two of them. The excel quizzes were incredibly hard as they were not at all related to the lab content, and the time to do such was second to zero. The weekly lectures were basically him reading the textbook, but the course content was actually interesting, just not Sameh.
He required weekly case study submissions, but only chose two of them to grade. This either works really well for you, or it screws you over. Lectures were good, but he usually spends the first 15-20 minutes reiterating the exact same points about how the course works. The excel quizzes are easy As.
Solid prof in my opinion but case studies were marked quite tough (80% was a top 10 mark). Do the excel skills review on the day of & you will do well on the quizzes. Responds super fast to emails compared to CMN Professors.
Good prof overall, but course was pretty useless. Weekly "case study" writeups that were marked harshly didn't make it any better, either. Al Natour is still a better prof than others for ITM100, and you'll enjoy his lectures quite a bit.
One of the best profs I had! he is very straightforward on what to expect and really does care about his students. He's a chill guy overall
Realest prof I've ever had for an ITM course. Only man I've ever seen who can keep a lecture engaging for the whole 2 hour block. Very accessable and open when it comes to office hours; never treats me as an inconvenience when I have a question for him. Also a very funny guy.
Weekly case studies with only 2 marked (pretty harshly). Excel quizzes are easy and worth 30%, just do the review twice the day before. Discourages students by saying many fail the exams and how they're "very difficult". Just read the book because his lectures barely help. Making your notes weekly and organizing your time will be your benefactor.
Very hard exam and midterm. Application based, with no review. Was not taught how to take this type of test. No feedback given on case studies. Weekly case studies, yet only 2 are marked.
Try to find another ITM 100 prof because my experience wasn't the best. He is a tough grader and penalizes students over unexpected circumstances out of their control. For example, submitting work one minute late or your computer crashing in the middle of a test.
Take any other prof if you can. Difficult midterm and exam plus 8 CASE STUDIES of which he only marks 2. Gloats about the difficulty of the course and how low the class average is. Additionally, listening to his lectures is pain - the man talks about so much unnecessary sh*t, taking notes is futile. You are better off just reading the textbook.
The content isn't that hard, but this prof makes it very challenging. Somehow got away with an A, but it definitely wasn't easy. Exams are mostly complex scenario questions based off lecture and textbook. There's 8 case studies but picks 2 random ones to mark (marks VERY critically). And 2 Excel quizzes which are easy A+ if you attend most labs.
His outline was very confusing and most of the class was very lost at the beginning of the semester. There is a case reflection and 2 discussion posts due weekly. Then 2 case analysis worth a hefty amount and a group presentation. He is a tough grader so don't expect an easy A and he's kind of rude too. Always too much due.
Participation requires a lot of work, weekly reflections, weekly attendance, must answer and ask questions in every class, and lastly must answer the 4 weekly discussion questions. Also, this professor never gives clear grades, he uses letter grades and does ranges. He will give a grade of C-C+, which allows him to fluctuate student's grades.
This guy is one of the most arrogant and ignorant professors I have ever met. He thinks that he actually is doing the students a favor when he bombards them with thousands of tough and long assignments. He does not teach the material well and all of his lectures are super useless. AVOID THIS GUY AT ALL COST
The course is really hard because it taught us how to analyze the business case. It was really useful, but it was hard to get a high mark. I appreciate that the prof curved the grade. He is nice but he is also strict. If you get any questions about the content of the class, he was patient to answer them.
Great prof overall. A bit of a tough grader, but helpful. Attend class as he provides many examples.
So far, so good. His lectures are short and sweet. Tutorials are mandatory, so need to attend to get marks.
Great prof.
Apart from being a little negative some times, he is a good proffessor. He replies to your questions. He says it how it is. And, I like his personal anecdotes he tells us. His classes are the best when he engages with the students (e.g. a student shares an interesting insight or example of technology and the prof builds on it).
Awesome Professor. Would definitely take some classes with him again. Pros -Answers Questions -Responds to emails quickly -Cares about his students and their grades -Makes lectures interesting and doesn't waste time -Focuses on the topics of present and/or previous lectures and doesn't go on about random information. Cons -Same-day assignments :|
Absolute dreadful teacher. Very arrogant and lowkey condescending. Tough grader as well.
Avoid this prof if you can. He simply does not care about his students nor does he want to see you succeed. He hates when you ask questions during in person assessments and is not there to clarify anything. While the quizzes are relatively easy, the midterm and final are not. The textbook will be your best friend for this course.
Very arrogant and condescending towards students. Spends the first part of every lecture talking about how hard the course is and complaining about students not reading the textbook. Very tough grader and he makes this known throughout the semester as if its a good thing. Also it is past our exam date and he has only given us letter grades back.
Wish I would have had a different professor because this course was so interesting and useful but he made it so boring. He also came off very rude and condescending at times.
I just passed this course, and I am shocked. This course entails 4 case studies in which two are marked, two Excel tests, and the midterm and final. The case studies are marked extremely hard, and from what I have gathered, my classmates and I feel he used our worst ones. The Excel tests were easy, but he was very rude during the tests.GPADROPPER
He was alright. He gave a lot of work which I feel could have been cut back a bit. He only marked 2 out of the 4 case studies he assigned (marked pretty hard). The excel quizzes were probably the easiest. The midterm and final were pretty hard but he did curve the midterm (idk about the final). It also took him awhile to release some of the grades
the class material is fairly simple but this profs grading is terrible. individual cases throughout the semester & all of them are graded basically the same. group assignment, midterm & final were all case studies. this prof goes thru recordings & sees who msgd in zoom chat lol..even tho i attended every single class, i got stiffed.
Tough course but the professor was good. Lots of work. Fair grading.
This was an online class with mandatory attendance. Enjoyable lectures with a lot of cases. The final was tough but overall the course is good.
For each class, 80% is student presentation, the rest is he reading from the slides and going off topic. The materials are out of date, the slides mix between old and new versions. He replaces some lectures with recordings from previous year. He would tell you your answers are wrong, but not why and how to fix them. The rubric is general and vague.
The professor's unclear teaching caused confusion. Complex explanations hindered understanding. The grading system lacked transparency, feedback, and consistency. Plagiarism concerns lacked evidence. The professor showed little subject enthusiasm. If you're reading this, improve teaching and dedication.
This is an online class and the professor met all of my expectations. He is very organized and posts all the material at the start of the semester. There are many small assignments that the course can do without, but I do understand they are needed to keep students engaged.
This was my second time taking a class with this professor and I am glad I did. The course itself is not very challenging but requires lots of work. Almost weekly reflections and class attendance is mandatory.
Extremely kind. He is strict when it comes to deadlines, but is really invested in students' success.
Great course and a even a greater professor. One thing I did not like was the fact that we had to buy the cases ourselves, but I guess the alternative would be to buy a whole other textbook.
There were weekly quizzes, almost weekly assignments, and two tests. Nonetheless, the professor communicated the expectations very clealry.
A lot of assignments and weekly quizzes, but they help prepare you for the exams.
Great prof. Lectures were very organized and informative.
Very informative class. The prof was good and tried to engage students.
I think he is a good prof! Lecture notes were sufficient for the assignments and the exams. He's also a pretty fair marker, there were a few reflections that some did not follow instructions clearly and he still passed them.
Amazing professor. Virtual class but he made it engaging.
This professor is great. I recommend taking him. The instruction for assignments was clear and he had so much empathy for students.
Left this course glad I did. Prof reviews himself here. Egocentric and concerning. Scroll down and look at the likes on the bad reviews lol
Just awful. Worst experience of my whole educational career.
Was marked very poorly and I can say it was due to bias. Prof was very selective as to who he likes and who he does not like. Easy to get on his bad side. Not very kind. Hard unfair marker. Overall bad experience
Wow this professor is just a bundle of joy. He is the best thing on planet earth. He is not a hypocrite at all. Adore him!
DO not take this guy he does not give feedback
By far, the worst professor I have taken at TMU. Very egotistical. He has too much time on his hands to make other people's lives miserable or so I've heard. If I have forgotten to buckle my seat belt on the way to TMU to take his class, I'd be glad I did.
He truly cares about his students. He always replied to my emails and always made sure to help me when I was struggling. I never met a prof who put so much time into their students like he did. He does grade by a few things, but they honestly boosted my grade in the course.
He loves to mark as critically as possible. Finds any possible reason to deduct points yet provides no feedback so there's no possibility of fighting for your mark or learning from your mistakes. His quote: "Students perform well on the PPT and poorly on the report, so naturally the report is worth more" Man doesn't care bout his students at all.
This professor just likes to make your life miserable. There is no clear grading criteria, and no feedback given for grades at all. The professor just chooses what he wants to grade randomly it seems like. Some students will excel, even if their work isn't good most will not. Possible favoritism.
He is the WORST prof. Dude cut 2 marks from some of our finals cause we tried filling our info after test time for 5s cause we were late due to real bad traffic n commute. Funny enough he himself was 20m late to our mids, but no compensation for us. He justifies our treatment cause of 'policies' but refused to comment on his mistake. Pure joke.
Worst prof, just talks and yaps about plagiarism, thinks he knows everything. There's a petition signed against him currently and students are making rounds to have him removed from the program. Avoid this prof.
Worst professor ever! Angry with life and takes it out on students....choose him at your own peril
Worst educational experience of my life. Abusing power at its finest, my assignment got changed to a 0 several times because he did not like me. Cruel actions that you won't ever believe can happen. Good luck!
He's hyper paranoid about plagerism and will make that your problem. He'll pretend to listen and disregard what you say. He'll purposely choose dates and times to discuss that he knows you can't make. He refuses any makeups or exceptions. He will even make it hard to drop the course. He has a fake friendly attitude when he really does not care.
Can't believe he is even allowed to teach. He has to justify himself by writing his own reviews which he is pretty bad at hiding.
The worst professor I've ever had. I asked him for help on numerous occasions and each time his answer was either a shrug or something along the lines of "I don't know what you want me to do". He marks unnecessarily hard. The class average for his midterm was 43%. He does not teach, I don't know why he's a professor, let alone the department head.
I am almost done with this course, and I wish I had dropped the course on the November 15th deadline. This professor marks so unfairly, changes marks several times and tries to look for plagiarism intentionally. He wants to make students miserable. I wish the school would refund me for gracing me with one of the worst professors in my life
This is a good course, but the prof made it bad. Thankfully I dropped it or it would of killed my GPA.
If you are late by even 15 minutes, he won't let you do the quiz and therefore you'll lose marks. Absolute disregard for students and their personal lives. Completely unorganized during tests especially those that are done on computer.
Nobody has good things to say about me. He is just a mean man and takes pleasure in tormenting students. STOP WRITING YOUR REVIEWS BTW.
LOL, that's all I'm saying. Good luck if you get the professor. He will dig for dirt on you. I think he should have been a cop, not a professor.
Horrible prof
Do not take this prof
WORST PROF! DEFINITELY AVOID at all costs!
He seems to care for his students doing well. You need to attend classes to do the weekly quizzes and to get the questions for the cases. Marking is dependent on the TA. He does give practice questions for exams. This isn't a bird course, it requires effort to do well and I believe the prof offers enough support for students to get a good mark.
Don't expect a free lunch with ITM100. You should study the text and listen to the lectures to do well. I personally loved Sameh, his lectures were very applicable and clear. He is great with answering questions as well. Really cares for his students. I'm guessing the ratings are low because ITM100 is a very hard course.
Weekly quizzes during lecture, some count towards your final mark and others will be bonus for the midterm/final. I really liked this prof, he cares for his students and answers questions well. Engaging lectures. ITM100 is a very hard content heavy course, make sure to study and read the textbook for a great grade.
Great Professor for ITM100, If you attend all lectures and pay attention to class you'll have no issue. Definitely underrated.
The worst professor. He only looks at if your work is plagiarized or not. He acts like there is nobody above him and that only he can be the only person right and his thoughts/judgements are accurate/correct over anyone else. His ego needs to be checked, i pray karma does what she does.
people dont give him enough credit, if you are a good student, go to class, and study, you will succeed. he is funny, i enjoyed his lectures. he explained concepts in a good way. didnt really use textbook, slides were enough. be careful with chatgpt, i got caught the first in class case assignment, he does not play about AI/plagarism.
This prof is not good. He doesn't care about his students succeeding in the class but is more fixated on plagiarism and his profile on this website. He's clearly writing fake reviews, who says they got caught for plagiarism on here and go on to say the prof is great. Hopefully he changes his approach because he is more interested in his profile here
This prof sets you up for failure, with assignments and exams. Exams are hard and worded very complex. He intentionally spends his time/life to find plagiarism in every students work (doesn't even use turnitin, so he tries to look for similarities in work), or grades a zero with no feedback as to why, even when asked.
Will give out misconducts/DN's for no valid case. Very arrogant!!!! Chair of ITM so be careful, he makes you feel miserable as a student. I suggest you choose another prof if you want to do good and pass. Sets you up for failure!!
Please look if you can find another professor to take your class with. Escape this professor at any cost. Irresponsible and unprofessional.
One of the most passionate and genuine profs in the department. You can tell he cares about his job. Probably one of the biggest influences on me as this was the first ITM course I had to take as a BTM student.
DO NOT TAKE
There are weekly quizzes for credit. Assignments are done in class and the exams are pretty straightforward. Highly recommend.
As a first yr BTM student, i can say that Dr. Sameh was definitely the top and most inspirational professors i've met. He was constantly willing to help even when you don't ask for it, which is something no professor would do. His lectures are engaging and easy to follow, If you didn't do well in his course you can only blame yourself.
I felt like he's read the reviews and changed himself a bit ngl. this semester he was chill and lectures were straight forward. i do kinda understand the egoistic part since he is the head of department, but one good thing is he made the final easy which is why i want to write this review hopefully pls no more weekly quizzes in future courses i go
I would gladly take this professor again, He is respectful toward students, kind enough to point out which parts of the lectures were unnecessary. He provides weekly quizzes, and allows plenty of practice for midterms and final exams. I would DEFINITELY DEFINITELY have him again If i am able too he was my favorite professor.
