Super nice as a person, is open for suggestions about how she could explain things better or what would help but her accent is thick! She's hard, her assignments are few every things based off of exams, quizzes(which are every class) and lab practicals so its kinda hard! a lot of studying, but she's very nice and funny
She is a very nice teacher but sometimes she is difficult to understand.Extra Credit on tests, sometimes curves. GO TO CLASS, DAILY QUIZZES COUNT FOR 50% OF YOUR GRADE! She's negotiable for what is on tests and what isn't. Go to the science learning center too. I got a B, very intense course!
Very good teacher, simplifies text and is very approachable. Has office hours after each class to help if you don't get material. You MUST study and use the learning center in order to do well in this class.
Great Teacher!!! Makes lecture interesting and uses everyday examples. Quizzes after every lecture. Helpful and funny.
Do not take her!!!! Her tests are super hard. You have a quiz every class and her study guides are nothing related to the test.
LOVE her! She is very helpful, very funny, and very understanding. She is extremely smart and explains things in a way that you can understand the material AND retain the information you learned! You must GO TO CLASS and pay attention to do well...quizzes everyday at the end of class. She is an exceptional professor!
I found the study guides given to be useless. You don't need the 250 dollar textbook either, save your money. Her tests are 50 mc and come straight from her lecture slides. I thought the tests were pretty easy!
She is very good professor, she is honest about her accent, but I did not mind her accent, she is very sweet and knowledgeable person. Very good professor, I am taking 162 with her comming semester. Recommend her highly.
Dr. Samira is amazing! She explains everything very well and multiple times. She encourages you to meet with her individually during her office hours if you need help. If you study the ppts and take good notes in class, you will pass. She is hilarious and makes jokes to keep you interested during lectures. She's a medical dr - very knowledgeable!
She is so awesome! Explains everything perfect (has a heavy accent but you understand what she says eventually) and always tries to help.
Dr. Samira is the best professor I have had at NVCC. She is an MD/PhD and relates the straightforward A&P material to her clinical experience. She wants her students to do well but isn't going to hold your hand through the exams. You definitely have to study. Her class was great and I wish she taught more classes I need.
I took Professor Samira for both 141 and 142. I think she is a great professor. I have never been interested in science but she makes it interesting. Lectures are not boring and she explains things well. I would take her for any class that she taught.
She has a passion for both her students as well as the subject matter. Very rare! I really liked her accent, it made me focus and listen. And she really knocks her self out to be available for her students. I highly recommend her!
She is very helpful and offers extra help outside of class time. Tests are HARD, but quizzes are easy if you pay attention in class lectures! She is very strict on students spending all outside time studying. If you are a full time student or work, then her class may require too much time- BEWARE FULL TIMERS! good class for pre-med's and nurses...
The TESTS are very hard and tricky. Lab practicals are sometimes easy and sometimes hard. Quizzes are okay, but dont help overall grade that much. This class requires a lot of extra time and work! Teacher is nice, but can be very strict.
Tests are extremely hard and tricky! teachers expects for every student to be obsessed with a&p and wants students to spend every free minute on this class. Very hard class for full time students. Professor will basically give you a bad grade unless you go to every office hour and live in the science center!
She is very tough be prepared. I did it on a one day a week thing which for me didn't go well. Try your best good luck.
very nice professor! her accent can get in the way of learning in lectures, and test are diffcult and hard. Study guides are bad and unclear.
The class I took (BIO 142) is a hard class regardless of who you take but she didn't make it harder than necessary. She taught it very well and made lectures interesting. There is a lot of material but she points out exactly what you need to study to do well on the test. She came early to class each week to help us study. I highly recommend her.
Teacher expects way too much from students! She will automatically put you down from the beginning if you work or dont have 25+ hours to studying each week. Her tests were kind of tricky, but the daily quizzes were easy. She is willing to help but shes very judgmental and will automatically assume you wont make it if you ask for help.
She's a great professor, but she rushes through the chapters way too fast. Her exams are really hard & the study guides don't really help at all. Labs were pretty annoying. I was in a class with all females & most of them had kids, so half of the lab period consisted of everyone sharing stories about things that had nothing to do with NAS.
Dr Samira is an awesome professor. The course itself is a lot of material. She gives a quiz at the end of every class but nothing to worry about. If you come to class and listen to her, you will do very well.I joined during the late addition period so i had to email her and she was very quick to assist me. Great teacher, highly RECOMMEND.
Dr. Samira is an awesome professor. The course itself is a lot of material. She gives a quiz at the end of every class but nothing to worry about if you come to class and listen to her you will do great..I joined this class during the late addition period so i had to email her and she was very quick to assist me.Great teacher, highly RECOMMEND
This is BIO/ANATOMY people. Its not going to be easy! Its strictly memorization and understanding of concepts and terms. But this professor is clear and she uses real life examples. I agree that the study guides are useless but all you need to do is study the slides and attend lecture. She also has extra credit on tests. Shes awesome.
She's awesome! Keep in mind that it's A and P, and not an easy course. You definitely have to work for your grade, but she is SO helpful. Seriously love her!
Gives a quiz every class and it counts as attendance and it's graded. Her office hours are excellent and she is always there to help. Her tests are tough and she has an accent but its understandable. Be prepared to study a lot, this class is very complex.
Great professor. Uses real life examples which is very helpful. Always reminding of her office hours . Repeats important material. Tests & lab practicals can be challenging. Attendance & studying power points are a must. Gives quiz at the end of every class & counts for attendance but it's not hard. Helps to print out power points ahead of time.
Take her, you won't regret it!
Awesome Professor! Learned a lot of A&P! Easy to talk to but don't be absent for class! Expect quizzes! She gives study guides prior to the test! :) Lab was fun!
I have her for BIO 141 this year and didn't like her very much. Quiz every class and hard tests. She rushes through her lectures and sometime doesn't even go through the whole power-point. She has a habit of telling you to go home and read the textbook or power-point again because she doesn't want to go in depth on everything.
-Easy quizzes every class (listen to lectures for quizzes) -Online homework (you get two tries) -Has an accent (not too strong) -Very caring about students performance (if you need help, ask and you shall receive) -She posts study guides early so you can prepare for tests early -She grades test in the same day, or the day after
She's a good teacher but she's one of those teachers that aren't for everyone. There is a quiz every class at the end but they're just on the lecture u just had so if u listen u pass them. The tests however are really hard (she gives study guides online but they are extremely confusing). Overall I would said she is an ok teacher.
Professor Samira is my favorite professors Ive ever taken at NOVA. She is very clear with grading to let the students know their grade and keep them on track. She is ALWAYS willing to help you no matter what with learning the material during her office hours. Ive taken her for 141 and took her for 142 because she has always been very real with us.
I would say she is an ok professor. Her accent is not really strong. You will have many chances to get extra credit. 5 questions quizzes at the end of each class but they aren't hard. Took anatomy in High School and is exactly the same material. Pay attention at the power-points, do the online homework and you will get an A
She an ok professor. 4 test for the lecture- study guides don't really match the test. 5 question quizzes every class. She knows her material and is always there to help students. Overall, she good just be careful with the test
Dr. T cares about the subject and the students. She has high standards & knows that for most this is a gateway class into healthcare, so she wants her students to be the best so they can give the best healthcare to others. Makes herself available A LOT for clarification on any sticking point. Study guides could be a better match to tests.
She can be tough, but is because she cares about the future healthcare students. Make sure you attend every class and never skip a test because you will receive a zero. She repeats important info for the test. Pay attention to her because there is always a quiz at the end of the class based on what she talked about, so pay attention when she ask qs
Exceptional professor, truly cares for the students and is willing to help when help is needed. Took her for BIO 141 and 142 and it has to be the best decision I've made in my college career. Tests consist of multiple choice and there's a quiz after each lecture. No anatomy class will be easy, but taking this class with Dr.T made it bearable.
This is a tough subject and she is a demanding teacher. But she's great. She's demanding bc she knows that she is training future healthcare professionals. My only criticism is that there's a quiz on the same day she presents material and I don't think that's appropriate. But overall, I couldn't ask for a better teacher for a tough subject.
Great professor. She was very organized, consistent, and responsive. The material was challenging and she was firm, but she was willing to help in any way she could, as long she could see effort on the part of the student. Extremely fast grader (posted test grades on Blackboard within an hour!). We didn't do the optional dissections in lab.
If you are a person that transferring to a medical field and want to get an A or B then you have to study hard for it to get those grade with Dr. Samira. I learned a lot but from her but she is really hard doesnt provide extra credit and study guides are pretty much the whole chapter that you need to study for the tests. I wouldnt recommend her.
Dr. Topchubashova is AMAZING! Her class is demanding because of the homework but it is totally worth the reading and effort that you have to put in. She explains things very well and is always available for extra help. I fell in love with Anatomy because of her! 100% recommend.
awesome professor in terms of lectures; she explains and breaks down the material in a way you can understand. Definitely would've taken her for 142 if she taught it.
So understanding of family emergencies/illness! Very real professor, gives good lectures (very fast going through PPTs though), did not enjoy her daily quizzes, but if you listen and take notes you should score high. Her exams were really fair and quite easy! All in all a great A&P class! Would take her again in a heartbeat!
Nice lady but WAY too demanding. Gets off topic constantly and her attitude gets in the way of her teaching sometimes. Care for her students to be the best they can be. Beware of daily quizzes they are completly unfair and will hurt you later if you dont score perfect every time.
The Best Professor at Nova
Argues with students, has attitude, will belittle students. Asks for advice on how she can help, but argues about it and then keeps the same study guide. Most people are getting bad grades on the test because she does not help prepare you for any tests. She gets off topic consistently. Doesn't understand people cant make it to office hours.
I would not take this professor again. Considering I spent 10+ hours a week studying and teaching myself the material, her class was almost impossible to pass. She expected her class to come before any others. Her study guides were just a list of words and in no way helped with the exam itself.
She's nice and intelligent but the material is heavy in itself, and she teaches it in a very technical way and doesn't really help with remembering the lectures. You'd end up self-studying instead. She has quizzes before the lecture, which will bring your grade down if you don't study in advance. She's a really good teacher, just not for me.
Easily one of my favourite professors ever. Not only does she give TONS of medically-relevant examples during lecture but she tries very, very hard to strip down the difficult material to the bare bones. She's very enthusiastic about helping students and encourages feedback. I can't say enough good things!
she is very professional but has a pessimistic demeanor. She will encourage you to ask questions but is quick to shun you when you do, saying things like "check the syllabus" or simply give you a mean look. Her study guides are very broad. In general, nice lady but does not teach satisfyingly.
She is a true professor who really wants future medical professions to be ready for the field. Be ready for quizzes every class. Another thing she also engages your critical thinking by inserting free response questions in the quizzes which is amazing for future pre-med/nursing students.
Dont take her class if your willing enough to study on your own everyday, this professor expect too much from her students as if bio 141 is our only class, she gives out POP QUIZZES every time you have a lecture less than 2 mins! Her attitude/body language is odd but rude, she does try to break it down her slides (pp over +50) I wouldnt recommend
She is an amazing professor ,but her tests are difficult. You need a lot of time to study for her class and you will have a quiz at the end of every lecture and lab. She gives online homework.
She is easily one of the best professors I have ever had. She is very caring and is always willing and available to help students outside of the class. She is tough, but as long as you pay attention in class and ask her for help outside of class you will do fine.
One of the best professors I have had so far at NOVA. She is very professional, respects students, fair, caring. Always offers extra help outside of class during her office hours. BIO is a hard subject, taking notes during lectures and studying PowerPoints is a must to succeed in class. Taking BIO142 with her Fall2019. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
She is a great teacher and really cares about what she does. She is pessimistic but it is honestly very funny and she has a good sense of humor is you pick up on some of the things she says. down side is she spends half a second on every slide so have notes taken before class. you have to teach most of it yourself. Daily quizes
Professor T is great and is the best teacher I've had in my college experience. I took a 6 week intensive summer class with her, and she warned us of the heavy course work. But she helps you with office hours, meeting before/after class to study with her, and reviews all the info after lab for tests. She's a teacher that wants her class to succeed.
She is a great professor but she has the tendency to stop in the middle of class to complain if students are listening or if they are taking notes and she thinks students are watching tv or playing video games during the lecture (which wastes time for students who are trying to learn and understand her)
I would tell anyone not to take her class, trust me. Most of as whos are taking her class are people who want to go to health science field nursing or other health and need a grade no matter what. I'm saying you don't take her class if you want to pass. the way she teach is super boring. You just gonna sleep in the middle of a lecture. DONT TAKE!!
Prof. T is quite dense and incredibly boring during lecture. She is very knowledgeable but a poor lecturer. There are multiple quizzes each week for lec & lab and either an exam or practical every other week/two weeks. PP slideshows are incredibly long and bland and she discourages note taking during lecture so you have to on your own time.
She is really caring and an amazing teacher at NOVA. She wants her students to actually succeed and remember things and not just to take the exam and forget things. Honestly, it is hard at the beginning but now when I am done with the course I learned a lot of things about human anatomy. Make sure to attend her office hours, it is really helpful.
I took BIO141 & BIO142 with Professor Samira and I have no regrets. She is extremely knowledgable and gives real life examples during her lectures. If you need help dont be afraid to go to office hours. She will help you break down concepts that are stumping you.
if you love yourself don't take this class
She has long lectures and often puts you into a group on zoom to do work with other students. She also stops lecturing a lot to ask if everyone's listening or taking notes. Her homework and classwork were manageable to get done though, but you miss a class you miss a lot. She is easy to reach outside of class.
I'm almost graduating and Professor T is still one of my favorite professors I have ever had. Her class can be tough but if you study well and invest yourself in the class, you will learn a lot. She is very knowledgable and if you want to continue into the healthcare profession then I would recommend taking her.
She's very knowledgeable and has a good sense of humor. The lectures are good quality but also very dense, you need to be reviewing everything she says and it takes a lot of energy to keep up with her. She is accessible outside of class and is very understanding if you are having trouble with the material. 10/10 would take again
She makes the material very difficult to understand.
Dr. T is an excellent teacher. She gives lots of extra credit opportunities and her lectures are amazing. This is a lecture heavy class, but in case you miss a class, she provides slides which she directs the lectures on. You have to study for this class, but she doesn't give a lot of homework. She has a slight accent. Take if you're a med major.
She was amazing! I would absolutely recommend her to other students. She provides lots of extra credit opportunities to improve your grade and she really wants her students to do well. If you have to take A&P at nova, take it with her!
I loved taking this class. This teacher is amazing! She tried her best to make sure that everyone is able to follow along. And if needed she allows the students to take the test at a later date. If anyone needs help she is ecstatic to help either during office hours or on zoom. The lectures were interesting and she explains the material clearly.
Professor Topchubashova tries to help everyone succeed, she has lots of office hours and zoom available. The lecutres and labs are interesting if you are attentive and participating. She is very fair and gives extra credit when the class works hard. She is a professor that explains the material well and cares a lot about her students.
do not take this professor, it's a waste of time and money. no retake on her exams. she's useless and insensitive. she goes way to fast during lectures and the laboratory are useless, literary we did nothing for 3 hours and wouldn't let no one leave. by far the worst professor I've had. please don't waste your time nor effort with her.
She is an AMAZING professor, just attend her class and study. This professor made it fun and very easy to understand all of the information. I would 100% retake her class again. She is such a caring professor that understands when life happens. Offers extra credit. She is very kind and sweet, trust me you will not regret taking her.
Bio141 is hard but Professor Samira did a great job. She's tough but truly cares about your ability to know the material. Her accent can interfere, but if you ask her to repeat it or write it down she will. It's lecture heavy, but she reviews everything you need to know for exams. She provides practice questions, study guides, and extra credit.
She explains everything nicely but no matter what you have to take time to study outside of class. Their is a lot to learn but if you study the subject after each class you'll do good manage your time please.
Anatomy is a tough subject but she'll make sure you understand the material. She has office hours you can attend if you are struggling. Just make sure you study what she tells you too. There is an open note quiz at the end of each class. Easy points to collect and her way of taking attendance
Enjoyed this class, but it was definitely tough. No homework, but you have to study outside class if you want an A. Don't miss any of her classes as they are very content heavy. Professor is very kind and knowledgeable. She has an accent if that bothers you. She genuinely wants you to succeed and offers office hours and extra credit opportunities.
TAKE HER FOR 141! She offers extra credit in every lab/lec exam and is clear with what to know for her exams. She provides vague study guides but your notes from the lecture are sufficient to pass her exams, I overstudied every time I read from the textbook/ppt but I did pass every exam with 100% or above so do what you will with that information.
I LOVEDDD taking this prof she made the class fun with jokes but stayed on track the whole time. She is very good at following her schedule while also being fair to students she offers extra credit for most things. Her study guides don't provide in depth details but as long as you take notes and go to class youll do good
Truthfully I wanted to go back and rewrite another superb review for Professor Topchubashova. I took her almost 7 years ago and still think that she is the best professor I've ever had. She is passionate about the success of her students and makes anatomy interesting. I loved taking her class and would recommend her to anyone and everyone.
Took the class 2023 Fall and it's fairly difficult. Textbook quizzes are easy, but the tests/practicals are difficult (studying is mandatory for this class!!!) Professor lectures somewhat fast, but she will repeat if you ask; lectures and labs are both enjoyable and make the class fun to attend.
took bio 141 with Dr. Samira and it a excellent experience. text book mandatory as we used it for homework. attendance is important, we have quiz everyday class. the prof demonstrate an excellent understanding of the course material and she is always available to assist you with any question. test were easy as long as you come to class and study.
Honestly, if you pay attention to all her lectures and pay attention her class is passable. In order to pass her class you just have to listen to her and STUDY ALOT. She definitely does care for her students. She tells you what will be on the test and what to study. If you listen well and ask questions you should pass just fine.
Awesome professor, very caring and explains things thoroughly. It's a memorization-heavy subject so you need to study outside of class to do well; lecture slides are a good resource. No homework, easy quizzes, exams are a bit tricky but they're all mult choice and there's a good amount of extra credit for each one. Attendance is mandatory for lab.
Professor Samira really cares about her students. She is passionate about what she teaches. This is a hard class so studying on your own is key. Lab practicals are pretty straightforward if you pay attention and listen. Exams can be hard but if you prepare well in advance they are easy to pass. I would take her again and really enjoyed her class.
Professor Topchubashova's class is challenging but rewarding. Attend every lecture, use the textbook, and study hard - you'll do well. Unstuck ai was a great study tool alongside traditional resources.
Professor T is funny, but this class was the worst science class I have ever taken. Her study guides did not help prepare you for the test. She goes over her slides quickly (over 100+ slides for each chapter). Right after you take the difficult test, she schedules the lab practical for the following week, leaving you with little time to study.
PLEASE TAKE HER FOR BIO! Hands down I truly loved her and her class! AMAZING PROFESSOR ! Exams were pretty straightforward! Just study and you will be fine! A&P is a tough course it self but she makes it understandable and easy! Same goes for lab as well! She gives time for us to look at the models and practice! Her knowledge really is remarkable!
This class was very fast paced, she expected us to do pre-lab but never gave out any points for the work. Lectures were boring and delivered very quickly, making it difficult to take notes or keep up with the material. She wanted us to prioritize this class over others. I do not recommend taking 141 with this professor.
im at a B rn and hopefully I can get to an A. I needed to do so MUCH studying on my own. lectures were quick, she zoomed thru everything, it was difficult to understand most things. nice and funny, does extra credit points at the end, but only take this if ur disciplined and able to study on ur own bc there's LOTS of material she puts together.
Professor Topchubashova moves quickly in lectures and is strict, but she's very fair and pushes her students to truly learn. She's always willing to help and available outside of class. I will say, however, that I would not recommend this professor/this course if you do not have strong study habits.
I took Dr. T's A&P I in 2023 and A&P II in 2024—she's an amazing and engaging professor. The courses are challenging, & students are expected to read and understand the material. She offers extra credits; do them. It will help you if you score low on exams. Her teaching style & passion for science made me love A&P. Hard courses but worth it w her
combine chapters for lab practical.
I feel like the rating is misleading other students feel that way as well.If you got a bad grade on a test and ask her to explain it to you she will say you got this wrong and the right answer is this with no explanation.Skips through PowerPoints.only extra credit is like two extra questions on the test not worth that much.
Will tell you study for this it will be on the exam and it's not your studying extra information you don't need.lab practicals are combined.
Passionate and uses great analogies to understand the material. Loves to help, so ASK! Anatomy isn't easy, but she makes it easier to digest. Pay attention and put in the work and you'll do fine. She cares about her students and wants you to succeed, so don't be afraid to ask for her help. Exams are easier compared to other professors ' exams
Very fast pace for a 15 week.Goes skips thru power points barely any extra credit that is enough.
She's funny but not a great teacher. Exams barely match what she teaches, and the topics she tells us to study rarely appear on the test. You end up having to teach yourself most of the material. Be prepared to do heavy independent studying because lectures won't be enough. BEWARE: Reviews are heavily misleading.
she's very good at explanation, if u have any questions or concerns, ASK! you didn't ask and then you said she talks too fast. If you really pay attention in class, then she is the BEST. I took her 141 and still choose her for 142 next spring semester. I didn't even need to study for the exams after really paying attention to her lectures.
