Yes there is a lot of readings and reading quizzes for each class BUT Professor Binkley makes them so understandable. You really just have to show up and engage with the content. Even just that will set you up for success in his course, he just wants you to show that you are actively engaging with the material.

His lectures are extremely engaging and I learned so much more about sociology than I thought I would. Semester is measured as a life story - beginning is about birth and ending we discuss death. He is a great speaker but he does cold call often if you do not participate. Take notes, they will be helpful in the long run. Class based on readings

Binkley is a really admirable professor. He made my class feel engaging and useful, and let everyone in the class have open ended discussions. I would totally recommend taking his class, because it's clear he's very smart but also caring for his class. The one thing is, there's definitely a lot of reading and the exams are vigorous.
