He gives a good amount of extra credit. You can easily get a good grade as long as you put forth the effort for extra credit. He seems really mean at first, but after a few classes he is very nice to talk to.

Absent minded professor. Demands a lot from you but doesnt hold up his end. 3 papers, notebook, daily quizes, & 3 tests. Lots of work not much learning. Easy to get an A if you keep up on the work.

Something about him seems off. He's got too much psychology in his head to seems like a real live person. Not a lot of real facts are being learned. Class is tedious but not too hard, just glance over the book and memorize test essay questions.

Horrible at communicating what he's looking for. Lots of pointless work. Basically, memorize the daily quizzes and they're all on the test. Got an A but hated even talking to the guy. Never learned a thing. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!

Very, very easy.Didn't even have to go to class much. Let you know up front what he expects & when its due. Just do the work and ask him questions if you get lost or confused. It was an easy A, and he seemed really nice.

worst I have ever had! Rude, inconsistant with rules, taught nothing, and is set in his ways (1920's). Class was self taught from reading book. He will not even let people go to the restroom without making entire class take break. he needs to go!!!

Dropped the class after the first day. Although it was a summer class, I'm sure his "regular" classes are just as hard & confusing. His teaching method is very dated...I would not recommend him to anyone.

Syllabus is super unclear, he loses his temper easily and the stupid journal has no clear format, he can take points off for anything! Also, too much work for a class many people take as a required elective. Horrible teacher.

He is a straight forward guy who lets you know what he wants. Do the work thats expected of you and you will get a good grade. Journal helps with studying and terrible 10's help with learning everyday. Though its a beginners class, you learn alot. Took it before and failed it and he made it easier.

Gaft,I believe,is probably brillant. However, his lectures and class format are VERY confusing.He was confused most of the time.He was boring but yet graded easier then I imagined. I would NEVER recommend to take him, but I think deep down he's probably a nice guy just a bad professor.Avoid!

He comes off tough,once you get to know him, he is a ****cat.He is a bit absentminded, with all that knowledge rumbling around in his head it is understandable.Work with him,instead of against him you will succeed.That is not to say you can't argue,a war of words is fun with him.

Do not take him! There is huge workload that he can't even keep straight. I took the class for fun and regreted it. He is unorganized and very unfriendly. He has a bad absence rule and argues everything.

Took Psy Stats at Macomb to transfer back to my home university.I was appauled when during the 1st day of class he berated a student for getting up to use the bathroom.Not since grade school have I seen students treated so infantile.Previous reviewers have already covered his lack of teaching skill.

honestly one of the worst teachers i have ever had. he is so unsure of what he is doing and made what should have been a very interesting class, into one of the worst, most boring classes i have ever taken. He is rude and is constently yelling at everyone. He def. needs to retire.

The worst teacher i have ever had. He changed the syllabus about 5 times. He never knew what was going on at any time during the semester. Hes completely out of it and turned what was suppose to be a great class, into something i dreded going to. DO NOT take this class with this teacher if avoidable

You guys are absolutely crazy. Sam Gaft was my absolute favorite teacher. After taking psyc with him, I was able to walk in to my psyc classes at MSU and 4.0 no problem. Great sense of humor, helped me write my Val speech, wrote me a ref. letter.. I love that guy! I still e-mail him! take psyc with Gaft! Everyone that complains is just lazy!

I will be honest,after the first day of class I was ready to withdral/drop the class after told us about the notebook ect, but after I got to know him I really enjoyed his class and I really learned alot but you have to do the homework and notebook. I would recommend him to anyone.

worst teacher i have ever had. Changed the syllubus 4 or 5 times, never told us what was going on so after we came back from spring break, no one knew we had a test, and his rules changed all the time. He is the most unorganized man ive ever met! i mean, to make someone hate a class like human sexuality is hard, but he managed it.

mr. gaft is the best teacher that i have ever had at macomb. very straight forward. i always knew what to expect from him. lots of oppurtunities for extra credit. not to mention he gave the friggin essays you could chose from before the exam. how hard is that? ,may not have been approachable in class, but never turned me away when i had an issue

Pretty good teacher. Make shure to do the lab notebook as well as the PsycSim book because they can pull your grade up if you don't do well on the tests. Also make shure to take notes every day because they count for extra credit points twards each test.

He was a good strict instructor. Not a good instructor if your not a studious student! You must take the chapter readings seriously and do them.He is university material and I enjoyed his lectures although sometimes long, they were always scholarly. I very much enjoyed his class! I will miss his class!

This professor was very scholarly. Although you must follow the syllubus and do much of the work on your own, he prepared every class with daily quizes (which end up being test questions) that you can keep and are not held against you. They only counted as extra credit. Class was always interesting with real life clips and stories.

While he was a bit unorganized, I took a liking to Professor Gaft. I found it lame many complained that he actually gave homework..it was a human sexuality class and i learned a lot. The work was too easy, and I got an A no problem.

He gave so many opportunites for students to do well in his class that it would be next to impossible to fail... Unless you don't go to class, because attendance is required and reflects on your grade if too much class time is missed. He is unclear on some things but is easy to contact and responds immediately.

DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS, YOU'LL REGRET IT. CAN'T TAKE JOKES, IF YOU TALK, HE WILL KICK YOU OUT, YOU'LL FEEL LIKE YOU ARE IN MIDDLE SCHOOL, YOU'LL END UP DROPPING HIS CLASS. This teacher was awesome. I absolutley loved his class, because he was a bit unconventional and he didn't spoon feed you your A's and B's, he made you work for them while still making sure the material was understood. He's a funny guy if you know how to take a joke, a bit disorganized, and I would certainly recommend him.

i took 3 of his classes and he is an awesome teacher. read the chapters and study the daily quizes. i did and got a's every test, and im not an a student! he may come off as jerk at first but he's just really sarcastic. my favorite teacher at macomb!!

Excellent class with some actually substance to it. I learned as well as got the credit I needed. I recommend this teacher to anyone who wants to further their education and in fact learn some insightful information. If you don’t care about anything, don’t take it.

He is a very knowledgable man, even though he does tend to ramble and gets off track. He was also unorganized, but he knew it was a problem and was very fair while trying to fix his mistakes. Overall, I learned a lot. He helped a lot with any questions I had and provided HUGE amounts of extra credit for anyone that needed to bring their grade up.

The only reason why you need to come to the class is to get the extra points. hes not very organized and i only found out one of my test grades. I wouldnt recommend this teacher unless youve had him before.

Bottom line- don't take him. He is very nice but his instructions were terrible and confusing. There's also a lot of homework to do. I was so confused and stressed out by this class... he shouldn't be teaching anymore.

How does one person know so much about everything? Academically advanced especially when you compare him to other teachers.A glaring example of what an intellectual truly is. Good class and good teacher only if you enjoy learning and growing. If not , dont take his class. I got an A.

I would not recommend this teacher if he were the last teacher on earth! Which is a real shame because the subject matter was fantastic...he on the other hand was unorganized, over opinionated, unfair in his grading and definitely had his "pets". His lack of clarity & organization left me as well as the rest of the class stressed out!!

I had Dr. Gath for Brain and the Behaviour. He also rambled on things that didn't pertain to the subject matter.He gave out reaction papers, but never turned any back. He is very forgetful and disorganised. I think it is time he retired.

I hate this man! He needs to retire. I cannot believe I wasted this course with a teacher like him. He showed up to our first Thursday class a half hour late because he thought it was Monday! Really? Like fricken really! Then he harps on people for walking in 2 minutes after class starts. Just don't take him.

i would not at all recommend this teacher to anyone. He is very disorganized, on tests and quizzes he allows you to dispute answers but does not take it into consideration unless he can it fit to be done. He never ever lectures, projects are vaguely explained at best. his tests are on obscure parts of the book, if taking memorize the book, Goddluck

Run...run far and fast! He is so disorganized, I had no idea how I was doing in the class because we never got papers or tests back. The way he runs his classroom and treats his students feels like you're back in 3rd grade, he doesn't lecture or even teach, you learn everything on your own but attendance is mandatory.

Worst teacher I've ever had. Did not teach us ONE.THING. Most of the topics were covered in previous psyc classes I took, & the few things I learned this semester, I learned from the book, definitely not from the teacher. He will waste copious amounts of your time. Wonderfully ironic that a horrible teacher is allowed to run a class about teaching.

Will never take a class from this professor ever again!! He doent explain one thing to you and expects you to know what he never talked about! Way to much work for one class! He lost 2 of my tests and claimed I never took them so I got an E! He was marking me absent in a class I wasnt even taking!!! Get away while you still can!

Truely a professional! Great opportunity to learn from a brilliant professor--IF you are there to learn. Otherwise you will find him him "disorganized and boring". He will ALWAYS be there for his students-unlike many of the "awesome" and/or "hot" professors who won't remember you beyond the semester-Try getting a reference from one of them.

Professor Gaft is a great teacher. He makes the class fun for the students, and the material easy to learn. His class is structured in a way that encourages peer interaction and also perpetuates the learning process. I would definitely recommend Professor Gaft to anyone who is creative and has an interest in psychology.

He can be soo absent minded. He doesn't answers questions, and on many occassions he was rude to other students who comment on things he talked about. Other than this the class was boring, but the group sessions helped keep it fun. He does have consistent grading scale and he refuse to work with his students.

I've taken 5 psych classes so far and he is the worst teacher out of all of them. Teach yourself the material because he can't/won't/doesn't. He took 2 months to give back one of our exams, returned only 1 out of 3 papers. Know every single case study, and statistic because that's what is on your exams...or just not take his class.

Most ridiculous prof I've ever had. He is so rude and so unclear. The class is ALL group work because he is to lazy to teach the material himself. When he does lecture it is about something completely unrelated to the course. Easy class if you work hard and take all extra credit opportunities but your pretty much learning the material on your own.

Why does MCC still allow this professor to teach? We are paying good money to LEARN something. It's such a shame he is the ONLY instructor who teaches this class. I have 103 credits at MCC and I have never had such a horrible teacher. I dropped the class because I am 39 years old and not about to waste 16 weeks of my life. Shame on MCC.

He is a nice person. a little weird tho. he is way too old to be teaching however. he doesn't make assignments clear and he is very rude at times. he really should be forced to retire so a new more helpful professor can teach.

Gaft is a nice guy when you sit and talk to him.... but as a prof he's a bit of a jerk. He counts you absent after literally 30 seconds, but he decided to show up 30 MINUTES late to class one day. If you have no choice and are willing to do a lot of busy work, he's the prof for you... but if you have options... Run.

Awesome instructor. Made the class fun. Nothing that was expected was out of reason. He is older, but full of interesting and useful information. I still go to see him about many different matters! One of the best teachers at MCC!!

The posted be4 me,the 39 yr old who has " 103 credits at MCC " should not be listened too. There's a reason she has 103 credits and hasn't transferred yet. Good class, and if you show up, do the work, you'll get an A.

I do not want to be mean because Professor Gaft is a very nice man. However, I do not recommend this class unless you want to teach yourself. He doesn't lecture, only gives "Terrible Ten" questions each class and gives the answer. All learning must be done at home, with the textbook.

He is the worst possible teacher you could ever get. Hes unfit to be a teacher.He doesnt help you at all, you teach yourself. Half of his class is him rambling about things that dont have anything to do with anything and the other half is you having to make sense of his "Terrible 10's" with a group. He doesnt lecture and doesnt even attempt to.

Interesting class all around. At times he makes jokes no one understands, but the man is brilliant. Talk to him after class and ask a question. Really enjoyed the class and im taking a summer class with him also. If you show up, do the extra-credit,and occasionally study, you'll get an A. Best teacher at Macomb by far.

Took him 3 times. Good class. Hes fun. I learned a lot and I liked the material. If you want to do anything with psychology or understanding people, take his class. I went to class and studied for the exams. I got an A.

I ended up realizing what major I should pursue because of his course. I am now majoring in educational psychology. The man is smart, he knows it all. I advise everyone to take his class while they can, one of the best at macomb.

Professor Gaft is an extremely intelligent individual. Yes he is a bit older but comes to class with a plethora of knowledge. If you are focused, work hard and care about what he teaches you will do well in the class. What an exceptional instructor, truly inspiring.
