He is an awesome teacher. He cares about your opinion and wants everybody to understand. The work load is not overwelming and he is very clear about what it is that he wants done. If you have to take a humanities class and are not sure who to take it with take it with him. You'll love it.

I agree with the previous rater. This instructor is awesome. He is very thorough in his syllabus and covers it very well. He seems firm but fair and cares about the quality of his instruction. Bravo to this professor! I know exactly where I stand in his class and plan to enjoy and learn in this class.

has a very tight plan syllabus but it isn't hard to follow,don't try to be cool and try to bend it,just do the readings, turn everything in on time, and he'll practically give you all the information for the test that you need to know,he's smart,helpful,gives xtra credit op.,and is passionate about his teaching,making him interesting to listen to.

I loved this class. I did not receive an A, not because of the professor, I didn't work very hard. The professor gives you a sheet with what to study in order of the way it is in the chapters and on your notes. If you think this professor is hard you haven't had many upper level classes.

Samuel was a very interesting teacher. He truely cares about what he is teaching and is very interested in making it the most pleasant experience he can give you. He has put in a lot of thought and work into the presentation of his classes. I loved his class. As long as you do the work, you will get the grade. I would diffently take him again.

He is an awesome professor! Great sense of humor, very sarcastic though, but you will love his class regardless of whether you are interested in the subject or not. He is very opinionated though, but that's OK. We had to write a couple of papers and there were class quizzes almost every week, but it's not as hard as it sounds.

Every student owes it to themselves to have at least ONE semester with this Professor.

I can't say enough great things about this professor. He turns a subject that in some ways could be quite dull into something intriguing and delightful. The books are hardly bigger than a manual. Follow his syllabus, and you'll earn your A. Anyone who suggests otherwise obviously wasn't interested in the first place , or never put forth the effort.

I love Mr. Gaustad! This is my second semester taking him. He is very organized and uses powerpoint to give notes. He really knows his stuff, makes the class really interesting. Grades easy and if you take notes you will ace his tests. :)

Fantastic teacher! He opened a portal to another world. I will miss this class. Do the small reading assigned everynight and u will be prepared for the 7 pop-quizzes. 3 tests are easy if u take good notes and study. 2 essays that aren't bad (watch your spelling) and 4 website summaries that were fun to do. It's substitution for a European vacation!

Amazing professor! Knows exactly what he is talking about it basically a walking book. Lots of quizzes, but if you read the reading there was absolutely no trouble with these 5 question quizzes. Exams are all multiple choice. Sarcastic guy, loved him!!

I took classical humanities online - it is quite a bit of work but there are no surprises. You do the same type of assignments each week. There were 2 essays and I think 3 or 4 tests. I would recommend it, but you have to definitely work for your grade. I enjoyed it.

Great teacher! Took his class online & his course is one of the most organized I've ever taken. Everything is laid out ahead of time so you know what you need to do and the deadlines. The material is pretty interesting as are his lecture notes. If you need to take a humanities, I definitely recommend that you take his class if at all possible.

This professor is simply PHENOMENAL. He is by far one my favorite professor from Seminole. He really gets involve and make sure his students grasp something. Should have taken this professor online. The material is very easy to understand and he explains it very well. However, his temper gets in the way of his teaching. He treated us like little kids and the whole class would suffer if someone was talking, texting, etc. I also didn't like that my grade was largely dictated on attendance. I recommend.

He was very clear in what was expected and as long as you know how to take an online class (meaning you are disciplined with time) then you won't have a problem with this class. Learned a lot!

Great online class. Great Professor! Assigments are spelled out and very clear. There's alot of small assignments for each chapter but he only requires you to write 100 words for most, 300 for essays. I enjoyed this class much more than I expected. I would take any class he teaches.

First impressions: I just started taking his class online last week. He requires four assignments per chapter and we are working at a chapter per week pace. He gives fantastic notes which makes his expectations crystal clear. Be prepared to do a lot of writing and a lot of creative thinking.

I've taken two online classes with this professor now, and I have enjoyed both. The assignments are easy enough if you read the text and use the notes. Exams are a cinch - also if you've read the text - and his grading and email responses are quick. I would definitely take more of his classes.

Loved this class! I learned a lot. Instructor was very clear and helpful.

Online class was well laid out. Prof. Gaustad let us know what was expected of us ahead of time. Due dates were clear, what he expected to see in the work was clear. Grades were explained so you knew what you did wrong if something was marked off. Emails were returned quickly, work was graded quickly.

This professor is very straightforward and to the point. I just finished up his A term summer class and probably could have gotten a better final grade than a B had I studied a little bit more than I did. Three units, each with two chapters and within those chapters you have a unit discussion, exam, and paper. Just be sure to READ the book!

Incredibly easy class. A lot of reading required, but not excessive and it is interesting. I learned a lot. If you have to take a HUM course and want to get through it quickly, this is the professor to take.

Gaustad was an amazing teacher. He really cares about his student and is easy on his grades. I didn't study much and still got an A though I love history. Just review power points and read chapters once and you are set.

This professor was amazing! Everything is very clear and laid out for you. He is the fastest grader ever! I did all my work correctly and got hundreds for all of my assignments. If you review the PowerPoints and lectures he provides to you, you will very easily pass all the tests and quizzes. He is awesome! This online class was easy and fun!

The class was so easy, just do everything how he wants it to be done and turn it in on time. A lot of notes and reading but super easy, i got 100's on every assignment. I took the 2 month long course online and at first was unsure of how it was going to turn out because i was never a big fan of humanities, but i loved it! Just take him!

I loved his Powerpoints with the video's and music clips. His information sheets along with the Powerpoint helps you obtain additional helpful information. I was able to meet with him and go over my tests so that I understood what I answered incorrectly. He is a wonderful teacher.

I took his online Ancient/Classical humanities class and I can honestly say that it was a great experience. I really liked this class. I was a little hesitant at first about the amount of work that was expected of this class but once I saw how organized the professor was about his lectures I felt better. Read what you are supposed to and meet those deadlines. Discussions, writing, and essays are pretty easy and I'm no writing genius, just check grammar.

Quizzes and tests are timed. He gives one minute per question on those. Book was needed for quite a few things specifically his writing assignments. Not a hard class, but effort is needed to pass.
