Hard to understand, doesn't teach anything.Asks questions but doesnt knowanswers
No Comments
does not make what we are supposed to do in lab clear
Turns bio into Etheiopean translaion class... :(
Labs r easy...class is BORING
he's not clear, but the lab is not hard to succeed in
His accent makes it hard to understand what he is saying. He is very nice and is always willing to help you, even though he may not quite help that much. Lab is easy. As long as you study the book, you will be fine.
Dont go to class.. seriously its a waste of time. Just read the book, all the test questions are from the book. WHAT IS THIS MAN SAYING?
His accent doesn't make it that hard to understand - you adapt pretty quickly. Funny guy, can get boring a bit, but overall, easy course. Just do your work and if you need help, ask him!
sometimes hard to understand. has a strong accent
As a lab instructor he is hard to understand and can make class difficult. I didn't mind the thick Ethiopian accent as much though I did mind being his class translator :-P. As an advisor he is horrible
The class is probably boring and easy for students with strong biology background, but you won't actually learn anything from him.
This dude is from Ethopia(not that there's anything wrong with that) but you can't understand what he says!!!
He is a good teacher, you dont even have to go to class all his powerpoint presentations are on K-drive. Hes a little hard to understand but a good teacher.
If you dont have a strong Biology background, don't take his class. He is hard to understand and his lectures will put you to sleep. Exams aren't easy either.
Most boring class ever. Somewhat hard to understand. Very easy class, even if you don't go to class. All you need is Biology in highschool. He has almost no idea what he's even talking about half the time.
this guy has a ph.d. you got a give him a credit. at least he knows what he is talking aboiut. his accent can throw you off a bit but other than that, study and will be fine. come one people we need some diversity. lol
This may have been the most boring class I have ever taken, although the labs were interesting from time to time. His accent can be hard to understand and he sometimes confuses himself. However, the class is extremely easy as long as you study.
yes a little hard to understand, but has a sense of humor and will help you out with any questions, really is a nice guy
He knows his stuff pretty well, tries to be funny, and sometimes gets confused. Great teacher though, you'll learn a lot. I recommend. (BTW his accent isn't hard to get used to)
Once you get used to his Ethiopian accent, the class itself is cake. The people in my class at the time asked stupid questions, which he answered over and over...he has more patience than me, cuz I would've told them to shut the H*ll up. He's cool.
He is the nicest man ever. He really wants everyone to get the best grade possible. i think i got a D on two of the tests and still walked with a B thanks to lab. EASY, hard to listen to the accent though.
Nice guy, but horrible teacher. He is very unclear and do not know what he is teaching. Very boring.
not a hard class but a BAD teacher.
He is very difficult to understand... I think that he forgets what he assigned for homework or forgets to assign anything and he expects you to remember it all even though it is given out in three different places at different times with different due dates.
If you can understand foreign people, and want an A in Bio, take Geleta. He's funny and maybe not always too clear, but his tests are easy.

he was nice but his class is horrible. he confuses everyone including himself. never seems to know what hes talking bout and almost impossible to understand at times.
I totally learn everything from this class off of his notes on WebCT. He is also not very sure of himself when answering questions it seems.
He's focus is plant. He knew so many things about it. He's a great guy; I have him for an advisor. His brain and words don't always progress at the same time, but he will try really hard to make it so everyone can know their stuff. Take plant bio with someone know whos their stuff: that's him!
He wants to see people suceed and he's very smart, but his accent makes the class very difficult to follow. He's a very nice guy, but not someone i would recommend for a bio 101 class, maybe a higher level when there aren't 80 ppl in the class and he can help more ppl individually
I hated this class. I hate biology so that was against me going into you, and then Dr. Geleta is really hard to understand. Don't take this class! :-/
DO NOT TAKE! doesnt know what he's talking about and doesnt care. tests r impossible b/c he asks random barely mentioned questions. complete waste of your time.
dr. geleta wasn't that bad at all as long as you check out his online slides you'll be fine. and he always tries to give out extra points, he curves tests and lets you make up pretty much any late work
Impossible tests. How I got a B in his class is beyond me. I can't understand him, and he is boring. Fell asleep and he got in my face. I made him look like the idiot when I answered all his questions he asked me though. He doesn't know what he is doing.
Hard as hell to understand. Confuses himself and the students. He didn't even have a answer sheet for tests!!!he goes with the most commonly put answer. Avoid at all costs
Dr. Geleta is a horrible excuse for a teacher. He is nearly impossible to understand he will not answer your questions, mainly because he doesn't understand it either. He gets sidetracked easily and his tests are all fill in the blank with no word bank and he wants you to know exactly what the answer iis even when the question is vague.
Hard to understand in a big class. But verry willing to help outside of class. He will meet with you one on one and then answer all of your questions. Lab is very easy, will bring your grade up a lot.
Extremely difficult to understand and he didn't know the biology terms in English - worst class i ever had in my life!
good class, he enjoys his work with plants and teaches how they play an important role in the real world! you learn alot + get an easy A!
his accent is hard to understand but, he is really nice and it is sooo easy to at least pull a B in this class. give him a chance and he will prove he wants you to do well.
Great guy, silly teacher, good teacher. Take him. You will get a lot out of the class.
No way will I ever take this class again. All his test are fill in the blank and good luck with trying to understand him, He might need to take English again.. Labs..Your own your own with them and class is the worst. You can miss class since he does not ever take role, but be ware HE GIVES NO BREAKS. half way though its all close book lab quiz
He's a nice guy, but you wont learn anything because he's got the heaviest accent ever! He wants you to do well, but I think he gets bord 1/2 way through the 2 hr. class and just starts to ramble on. You can mess around with him and he doesn't care, but if you actually want to learn anything, forget it.
Not too bad, Pretty hard to understand but an easy class. You have to read if you want to do well in his class, he doesnt give notes. The class is essentially only to do labs and discussions he wont force feed you stuff you have to study the people who gave him bad ratings were just lazy.
yes he has a huge accent but if you try hard to understand him, you will.on the other hand,if you really wanna learn some thing from this class,do not take him.you ask him questions and he will confuse you and what ever he teaches in class is all common sense stuff that your lil siblings will know.hes a nice guy&may know his stuff but notgoodteache
Id say he's easy, cuz I goofed around in the class, NEVER knew what we talked about and got a C. Imagine what grade youll get if you DO pay attention. Accent is kinda thick, but others seemed 2 understand. He confuses himself sometimes, I think thats why I tuned out lol. He's funny though. I'll always remember him and WebCT (ugh!, beware)
Dr. Geleta is a pretty nice guy, however, his accent is very very heavy and he has a tendency to ramble on talking in circles, making things hard to understand, and his writing is the worse so you pretty much on your own. I wouldnt suggest this class to someone who gets bored easily.
His class is a piece of cake if you have a decent knowledge of biology. He doesn't know much, and he admits it!! Just go through the online powerpoints for concepts, go through the book for highlighted terms you need to know. He's a horrible teacher; you'll do well if you know how to teach yourself.
Dont ask him any questions b/c his answer will be "i dont know u tell me" very heavy accent that makes it difficult to understand. i couldve gotten a B but i missed 2 many classes b/c he got on my nerves. Not very clear or helpful. If u had honors bio in high school ull b fine
It isn't his accent that make me hard to understand. He just simply does not know what anyone is talking about! He goes off on tangents when you ask a question and it leaves you more confused than when you started. He is inconsistent when collecting assignments and never returns them. Tests are on things you never learned.
He is as bad as bad teaching gets. He looks at you like a deer in headlights when you ask him a question, never hands back assignments on time, is never in his office at the given times, and never responds to emails or phone calls. He has no interest in extra help or a student-teacher relationship and knows nothing about the material.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! He puts grades up on webCT, changes them without warning or reason. Never gives assig. back, you never finish experiments or labs. Don't bother writing anything bad on the evaluation, he looks over your shoulder the whole time. Don't bother telling on him for doing that either,he's got tenor & can't be fired. SU's desperate.
dont take him... he is horrible
avoid him if it is possible...i did not learn anything from this guy at all...his accent is easy to understand if you just talk to him but when he trys to teach with it it does not go well, Gets sidetracked easily. Very nice guy but DO NOT TAKE HIM!
DROP THIS CLASS ASAP! He is such a horrible teacher. period!
He barely speaks english. It is very difficult to comprehend what he is teaching. i wouldn't recommend taking his class.
very hard to understand
Hard to understand at times, and doesnt seem to know what he is talking about. seems enthusiastic about the subject but cant explain things well. i wouldnt recommend taking him. powerpoints dont make sense either..ridiculous class..
Terrible. Hard to understand with a his Ethiopian accent. He hasn't collected a single lab we've done in class yet. He "grades" 65% of the assignments by looking over your shoulder to see if the assignment is completed instead of actually grading your work. Exams and quizzes are difficult. I read the book in class instead of listening to him.
He is a nice guy, and i feel like he should be on Gulla Gulla Island or something. He is kinda hard to understand and he seems lacking in knowledge on some subjects, and really doesn't lecture very well. Grading is weird and disorganized, labs are rarely collected. Test, quizzes and online ones are difficult if you don't study the textbook well.
A great guy, easy class, grades on a curve. Very difficult to understand, unorganized, confusing at times. Don't get much out of the class, but again, its easy. He also teaches some conservation classes which are a bit better.
not much review for tests and is hard to tell what your grade is throughout the semester, but is easy if you attend class, do the required reading and study A LOT for tests. I got an A when I had a low B going into the final. Very approachable, nice, hard to understand at times but is overall a good teacher.Funny guy, overall enjoyable class.
worst teacher i have ever had. he has no clue what he is talking about. does not answer questions. expects students to try and teach each other. never collects work. we hardly ever actually completed a lab.
He is my favorite professor for bio. Yes he's unclear at first because of his accent; you get used to it though. He's very lenient with grading so don't stress to do all the work. Tests are easy and class is interesting. But be prepared to teach yourself with the text book. That is what works for me anyway. Not to mention he has a sense of humor!
Thick accent makes him hard to understand. He doesn't always answer your questions in a way that either makes sense or pertains to your question.
Take his for plant bio. His tests are so easy and come straight from his notes. There are a mixture of multiple choice, fill in the blank and short answer. You have a paper to write which gives you easy points. Take him over Briand
He has an accent that you will get used to with time, however, he is not clear at all in the *little* lecture that he does provide. He seems to be very intelligent but has a hard time articulating it to students. You have online homework and quiz so that's fairly easy. The exams go along with the notes. Be prepared to teach yourself.
Dr Geleta gets a horrible wrap on here. He is the most kind hearted man and is a great professor. He is always there to help and if you ask a question he always is trying his best to help you understand the answer. I would recommend him for plant bio. He curves his grades and the test are right from the notes.
He has the thickest accent. His class lectures are very dry and straight from the PowerPoint. You're better off reading power points on your own time. He's not clear at all and very unpredictable. His test weren't too hard, a lot of memorization and you'll be fine. Some questions were straight from the hw. Lab was unbearable. Overall just no!
good teacher if you dont have an ear for accents then look elsewhere. i will say he gives a fair amount of homework but you do learn from them. he is so funny and really cares about students passing. bad grades and no participation stress him out. the weekly quizzes come straight from the study guide so do them. study good for exam they can be hard
Seriously one of the best professors I've had at Salisbury University. Not because he's easy, but because he genuinely cares about his students. His accent is very thick which can make understanding him somewhat difficult, but he's awesome!
Great teacher
Hard to understand and doesn't have an effective way of teaching. reads directly off powerpoints so its a boring and long class. tests were hard, some questions really came from left field on information we didnt cover but he expected us to know. try to avoid him if you can
Has a heavy ethiopian accent that is difficult to understand at the beginning but gets better as the class moves along. tries to be funny and succeeds sometimes. doesn't really understand questions asked by students and doesn't really answer them clearly.
Failed Bio 212 with another professor and Geleta's was so much easier. The tests are straight from the lecture notes an while attendance isn't mandatory for your grade, you should go to class because a lot is covered each class.
He is an extremely nice, goofy guy, just kind of hard to understand through his accent, doesnt really know whats going on half the time during experiments and isnt very good at teaching. But doing the study guide homeworks and Mastering biology he assigns makes you learn and pass his class easily if you study
He doesn't always know how to communicate/properly explain what he is teaching. He is very intelligent, we just aren't always on the same page as him. Go to the SI sessions and you will be fine. You will honestly be fine without the textbook . Definitely DON'T get both online and hard copy. Waste of $. Access code is a must have.
Dr. G is a really funny guy, he's a little hard to understand at first but you get used to it. He kind of always looks confused and does not always give the clearest of answers when you ask a question, but he tries his best. Be ready to use the textbook every week to fill out your study guides and pre-labs.
Dr. Geleta's accent was scary at first, but you get used to it as the semester goes on. He does his best to answer questions, but don't rely on his answer and check with your SI. On the quizzes there are extra credit questions that help boost your grade. I can't recommend attending the SI sessions enough, it's the reason I got an A in the class.
This is the worst class experience I have ever had. He does NOT know the material for his own course. He has a thick accent and barely speaks English. He does not help students with any questions. You will need to find the answer for any questions on your own. If attendance wasn't mandatory, I would rather stay home and read the material to learn.
He is never really prepared for class and doesnt know how to answer questions during class. If you are in his class you are basically teaching yourself everything. However, he is an easy grader and the test and papers are not that difficult if you do the homework.
