Very confusing and hard to follow. Half of the time I had to guess what we were supposed to be doing.

words cannot express how much I hated this class and the way that he teached. everytime a person would ask a question he would answer them with another question. he really never explained anything clearly. thank goodness for our tutoring lab or else i wouldn't have passed

Take time to stay after class to ask questions and he just gets an attitude. Has no general interest in his students success. Marked my quiz answers wrong when someone had the same answers and got it right.

Terrible teacher. Makes fun of students. Truly does not care about his students. Rude. I would never take his class again. I always attended class and turned in everything some how barely passed. Before this class I had NEVER gotten lower than a B on an essay. In his class I always received a low C. Terrible teacher.

this is by far the WORST teacher i have ever had. i have never put so much time and effort into any class, and he makes me feel like my efforts mean nothing. on someone's essay, he wrote a comment and he went up to ask him about it, he said "i dont know. thats what i was thinking at the time." he is rude, and doesnt grade fairly. To say the least, this man should not have the right to be a teacher. He moved a student to the other side of the room for "talking" when we were doing an activity that involved "talking." He picks favorites, and everyone else he treats with disrespect. The type of essays he forces you to write ruin your abilities to write effective essays.

This guy is not interested in teaching. He is talking much stuff, but you are not getting anything of it. The whole class doesn't like him. He is not able to explain ESL to his students understandable. He is not recommendable.! And he is lazy, really lazy. It's the end of the semester and we are still waiting for our last 2 essays! English was never a hard subject for me so even reading rate my professor i decided to take him because he was the only one ope..MISTAKE.. his structure is good but his unclear about what he wants and does not grade appropriate..i made a wrong choice and now worried about my grade.. He was hard to understand and did not almaoe his expectations clear.if you presented an idea in class he did not like he wOuld make comments just to make you feel bad. I do not believe he afghani read my essay. Overall this class was a bad experience

This guy is a JOKE and not sure how he is a English teacher. Cant understand him, way to picky about his essays dont think i have passed any of them and I am a decent writer, He talks to his class like were stupid, He makes the class up as he goes. DONT EVER TAKE HIM unless you want to be bored and frustrated for a semester

Worse teacher ever. He is totally rude and you don't learn anything in the class. If you don't participate you don't pass the class. Don't ever try to turn anything in late because he wont take it. This class was a total waste of my time!

I dropped out of this class because this teacher is VERY UNCLEAR about his assignment expectations. He deffinitley picks favorites. There was an outline due, I came to class with it,there was nothing saying it must be typed. I went to hand it in, and because it was not typed he told me to leave the class. I was shocked! Who knows what his deal is.

He is very vague with directions, yet he has high expectations of his students. Received decent scores on all my essays even after going to the TLC and having others revise my essay. TLC told me I had strong arguments. His tests are hard to study for because he doesn’t tell you what is on them. I'm usually an A student and I got a C.

I would never take him again. He is very unclear . When you ask him questions he is no help and looks at you like your question was stupid. Left me no feedback and when he did it was nitpicky stuff about my formatting. Hes rude. Just gives busy work half the time. He wants you to write essays like 3rd graders. Ridiculous.

TERRIBLE PROFESSOR! He seems very clear about what he expects and what you should study but then grades you and tests you based on completely irrelevant guidlines. Will purposely dock you down if you question or challenge his heavily flawed teaching methods and is incredibly rude. He makes inappropriate personal comments disregards your questions.

Horrendous. Direct quote when several students disagreed about a few answers on his final exam, "it is what it is I disagree too, but there you go." Seriously? If you disagree with some of the answers, use a different exam. Also refused to help clarify what an abstract thesis is in published works even when not a single student knew what it was.

I do not recommend this teacher! SUPER HARD GRADER! I went into the tlc and had a tutor look at my essay and he said it was very well written and then turned it into otoo and got a C on my paper! Sometimes I can not understand what he says, and do not even try to ask a question because he will not give you an answer. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PROFEESOR

I am an A and B student, and parly bass the class with a C, he is not clear about his expectations, get angry when you ask questions, most of my questions its answer was search in google or you have the answer in your book. He is Using his authority to criticize students but dont accept when student defend himself, he call that bad attitude

He demands a quiet classroom atmosphere. When I talked to a friend for a while before class, and he kicked my desk. Be quiet. He tells us to leave the classroom when someone does not do his homework, and he does not fair when grading.

Prof Otto is a lazy professor. He wants to do the minimum to his students, also he goes off topic most of the time. Assignments are corrected during the class. He requested us to buy 2 books, however only one book was used during the semester. He never checked the audio before class which makes him to change plans very often. I dont recommend him

Probably the worst English teacher at college of the canyons. He is notorious around the international students. DO NOT TAKE HIM, if there is a different option besides him TAKE THEM. this is friendly advice, because taking him will be a waste of money. the only thing he does is talk about relationships. he does not even grade the papers himself.

DO NOT TAKE CLASS HIM! He is the worst professor and person you can ever meet in your life. He is so disrespectful. He is not understanding at all. Has lots of ego, and always talks about his degrees and his education. He thinks you must already know everything. He does not answer questions at all. Horrible lectures and horrible grading criteria.

This Dude is Awful... Took his class did all the homework and still failed. The homework has nothing to do with the quiz or final and grading is strict on another level. His Expectations of u will be as if you have a major in English already.

Samuel Otoo is easily the worst professor I've taken so far in the 3 years I've been at COC. He chooses not to cooperate with students and decides to post assignments until close to the actual due date. Plus he's a hard grader and expects you to already have an English Major. DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS, even if he's the only teacher available.
