He is really funny and interesting. He gets off subject very easily. He is really hard and talks way above your head!!!

He's a good teacher and really helps you out when you need it. there is not a lot of random work you have to do.
He is horrible! You dont really do much work throughout the semester but when you do he wont give you any direction and then he will give the whole class a bad grade because they didnt follow the directions he never gave. He thinks he is funny but it is really just annoying. Do not take him.

He is a very Bizzare Teacher. Has a kinda strange sense of humor. His assignments take effort but as long as you just do what you are supposed to you'll be fine. He really puts emphasis on critical analysis but he is really helpful and laid back in his style.
He is so funny!!! And once you know how he likes his essays, it's easy! He teaches you to be a much better writer and reader. He's laid back and we watched a lot of youtube! He's also helpful.
What to say about Dr. Prestridge? He's a nice guy and very funny, and if he was half as good a teacher as he was a comedian he would be great. He's so unclear on assignments. He doesn't give grades per se, just throws a letter out there at the end of the semester. His topics on papers are very specific. Good length is impossible.

Dr. Prestridge is such a condescending prick. He doesn't give a rip about your grades on anything. He just throws a letter out at the end of the semester. He really just doesn't seem to care. He's a really funny guy, but he's a terrible teacher.
Dr. Prestridge is a fine teacher. His class is structured so that you are able to research, find, and fix your literary errors. This is definitely a college class, in that you must be self-motivated in order to do well. I am kind of convinced that he simply throws a letter grade at you at the end. But overall, very good teacher.
Dr. Prestridge is a fine professor. Sit in the front of the class and laugh at his jokes and hopefully you will make an A. The only thing that annoyed me in his class was the pop quizzes on readings that were sometimes impossible to make a 100 on even if you read, and the only grades you can get are 100s, 50s, or 0 so pay attention to detail.
He can be rude but most of the time it is in a joking way. If you're sensitive he may not be the best guy. Genuinely wants you to learn. If you show up for class, read what he assigns and show that you're making an effort he'll help you out. If you like english, are good at it and you have a sense of humor he is a must
I love him! He is sarcastic, but in a really funny way. He involves everyone in the discussion and plays a lot of video clips. I got an A in the class, and he gives you extra credit for not missing more than 3 classes.
he's a funny guy and sarcastic so it keeps you entertained. however, he makes you feel stupid if you're called on and you dont know the answer. he is so rude on emails. dont ever call him MR prestridge, its DR!! he'll correct you as if he's offended...as if we are at UGA or something? he lets you re-do papers and yet get a lower grade? ..he's okay.
He is a great writer who is a bad teacher. His creative writing is more like a literature class as we mostly just read other stories that he has never even read and have no significance. But he assigns them so that we can eat up class time talking about them. He won't email you back. He is a bit of a prick, but can be cool at times too.

He can come of strong, but he is a great person. Get to know him and you will love the class. He simply wants you to show up to class, do the work, learn something, and you will do fine. Great teacher and I will be taking him again.

TAKE THIS CLASS. Not a whole lot of writing compared to other teachers. Keeps you laughing all class. I took him for both 1101 and 1102. A's both times. Highly recommended.
He is a decent teacher and I enjoyed most of his lectures. HOWEVER, just because you have an A the ENTIRE semester doesn't mean that's the grade you'll get. His end-of-term paper was the most ridiculous and confusing thing I've ever been asked to do. No one in the class knew what he wanted us to write or the format of it. Also, he can be quite rude
Great Professor! I have learned more in this class than any other class in college. He has a clever sense of humor and if you involve yourself in discussion and do your SIMPLE writing assignments you will receive an A.
If you get your feelings easily hurt, don't take him. If you don't like to participate, don't take him. He is a good teacher and knows his stuff, but he definitely has a strong personality. Talk a lot, and you will be fine. He will probably make you feel inferior,at that point, crack a joke and he will love you. He will make you feel uncomfortable.
Dr.Prestridge was extremely helpful and patient. He was flexible about deadlines. I also enjoyed his sense of humor in class and his sesquipedalianism.
Best Teacher Ever!! I'm not good at English at all, and Dr. P will take time with you to help you truly write an 'A' paper! He genuinely cares about his students performance! He is really funny and easy going.
If you like dry humor, Dr. Prestridge is right for you. He is HILARIOUS. Also, if you show any interest to him about his class, he will probably give you an A. Going to his office to talk about papers will definitely boost your grade as well. I couldn't have asked for a better english teacher

Rather ir is by talking to you in a condescending way through email or in life. Really rude at times. He was never clear on what we needed to know for the test. DONT TAKE HIM!
Dr. Prestridge has a deep knowledge in English. His style of teaching is unique. Study material and make appointments in his office and you will be fine.
DR. Prestridge-make sure you call him that! Is a cool professor. His style of teaching is different but once you get the hang of it you'll enjoy it. Do the reading he assigns, he isn't kidding about pop quizzes. When it comes time to do the papers go meet with him, he is super helpful! The tests go almost exactly by notes.

Dr. Prestridge is BY FAR the best professor I have had. I have taken him for 3 classes. He has a dry sense of humor and is funny as hell. He gets off track sometimes. He will tell some great stories. He loves for you to meet with him regarding your papers. He will give great advice. He expects you to do your work and not be an idiot.
don't take him! I liked him a lot at first, but you get tired of him fast. He's interesting, but you don't learn anything valuable. He has an awful teaching method, and all methods he uses in regards to analyzing poetry and literature are awful and other lit teachers would LAUGH. he's wrong about everything he teaches...plain and simple.

Looking for clear concise directions on assignments? Then don't take this class. Instruction is vague and unhelpful so don't be surprised when you have no idea what you're supposed to be doing. Ultimately frustrating. Probably my least favorite course I have ever taken in my entire schooling.
Someone should psychoanalyze this guy. Obviously has a few complexes and wishes he'd ended up somewhere other than UNG. Arrogant and extremely condescending to students. Dry, dark humor that isn't funny, yet he just thinks nobody understands it. Shouldn't be teaching. Unclear instruction, and essay grading is laughable.

Very technical when grading. If grammar isn't your strong suit DO NOT take this class. He subtracts 10 points for every grammatical error throughout essays. Very sarcastic and rude. Won't help over email, makes you go to his office hours. Overall mad i didn't drop the class. Way too opinionated to be an english teacher.
How can you not love Prestridge? This guy may have been all over the place and not the most specific with directions, but he is a very fair grader and if you visit him during office hours or ask questions in class you will know how to do the assignments and how to study for tests. Made an A in his class and this guy is as funny as they get. 1010
Dr. Prestridge is the best english professor I've ever had. If you love dry humor, take his class. If you're sensitive to criticism, let this be your warning. He appreciates those who come to his office hours, but don't ask silly questions. Dr. Prestridge has a passion for literature, which shows through his teaching.
Hands down the best English professor I've ever had. He has a hilarious sense of humor so you have to know when he is clearly joking or not. He assigns only a few essays, and does a fantastic job of explaining what he is looking for. No doubt I am taking him again.
Great person. Extremely sarcastic and funny. He brightened my day with his stories and jokes. His class was actually interesting and did not drag on because of his enthusiasm. Grammar and punctuation matter VERY much with his papers. Try and get on his good side and receive the "catcher's mitt" (I'm sure you will hear this once or twice.)
Prestridge is the bomb. He's absolutely hilarious. It's hard not to grin at some of the crazy jokes he has. If you show that you care about your grade just the slightest he will work with you. Besides the 3-4 papers he assigns, the assignments are a breeze. The papers are a cake walk if you revise them. He posts all of his lectures on D2L too.

He is a grammar Nazi. On the bright side, I do not make as many grammar errors anymore. My honors English class was easier than his course.
By far the best English professor I've ever had. If you have a sensitive soul to dry humor good luck. I laughed my ass off at the jokes he made. He's also very helpful outside of the classroom. If you care about improving your writing skills, he will see that within your effort.
I'm sure that looking at these comments you're seeing a lot of carbon opposites when it comes to ratings. To better explain, Dr. Prestridge has the kind of personality that you will either love or hate. If you are the kind of student who doesn't care, you will get slaughtered in his class. The most awful professor I have ever taken. He is not at all helpful outside of the classroom, he is mean, bad teacher, just all around awful. If you have a comma splice in one of your papers - automatic 5 points off. Your paper could be a good paper but you could get a D or even an F just because of the grammar. he is the worst teacher UNG has.
I would recommend not taking Dr. Prestridge. He will give you a C or even fail you if for just a few grammatical errors regardless of how good your paper is, he has a very dry sense of humor which can be awkward a lot of times, and if you try to explain something to him and he doesn't want to hear it then he'll get an attitude for no reason at all.
He is probably the worst person and the worst professor in the world EVER. I cannot tell you enough how terrible this professor is. He is tough at grader, I had my uncle that is a professor in UGA proof read and edit my essay yet I still got a C on all of my essays. He is never helpful inside and outside of the classroom. Do the work and youll get an a, but you have to work for it. Homework almost every night. Lots of papers. If you miss 6 or more classes he drops you, perfect attendance and he drops 4 lowest grades. Funny guy, makes a lot of jokes in class. No phones allowed in class at all.
He is a very sarcastic guys but always apologizes if he feels like he offended you. Its almost impossible to get a bad grade in his class if you do his work. Attendance is weighted the same as the papers. Just show up, do the work, and make sure you do it the way he wants you to and not how youve done it in the past. One of the best professors
Dr. Prestridge is a hard grader. He expects you to be ready for class and to have put in the work needed to learn. He's a great guy who you'll either love or hate because of his humor. papers for his class are always very severely graded but he's usually happy to go over them with you during his office hours if you're willing to go in
Dr. Prestridge is a without a doubt the most real professor out there. Although his methods of grading are harder than most professors he really does set you up for later on down the line. He has a questionable sense of humor and the class lacks direction at times but he makes up for it with terrible dad jokes, if you're into that sort of thing.
All my papers started out at Fs, but he helped me and let me edit them and I ended up receiving A-s . Hes an opinionated grader. Tests are take home and done in groups (not hard). Reading is required. He often gives pop quizzes over the readings in class. You can find all the texts online (dont need a book).

If you don't plan on learning grammar rules, don't take him. Read enough to pass pop quizzes. After 5 absences, he will drop you. Directions aren't always clear, and he isn't the *most* approachable, but he allows almost everything to be done in groups, even tests. It's a good bit of work, but not too much if you're willing to put forth the effort.
Although he was a good professor, he was very disorganized. He waited so long to post dropbox to turn in assignments. I never knew what grade I had in the class until the end of the semester. He does offer extra credit for attending some events.
I have never had a professor quite like Prestige. He seems to have the right intention when teaching but is so bad at teaching and so unorganized that is all that matters. He will give out penalty essays of 500 words if you do not participate enough. Doesn't post any assignments until the day before its due and overall kind of rude.
Do not take Professor Prestridge. He will have you working on the same essay for over a month. 750-1000 word essay given with one days notice. Hard grader, gives out 500 word essay if the class does not answer the question. I have had difficult professors before but his lectures are pointless he is not easy to deal with and will not stay on topic
Come to class prepared. If you try he likes you, just be nice. Extra credit. Disorganized but he will fix things! HARSH essay grader (10 points for grammar errors), GO TO WRITING CENTER (Go to Johnathan bc they work together, gives great feedback)! Don't take if you skip lots. Helped improve my writing skills & wants to see you improve bc he cares.
Dr. Prestridge is nice with an odd sense of humor. Just pay attention, participate, and do the work he asks. He is forgetful, as due dates set in class might not match D2L. He always fixes his mistakes in favor of the students. He is always willing to answer questions and encourages students to schedule appointments with him for help.
He can be pretty rude to students if he is in a bad mood. But overall if you do your part, he does his. We had 1 paper and the final was literally just making grammar corrections to it. He assigns penalty essays if no one talks in class. He actually can tell if you read the material or not. Tests were hard. You have a week and you can work w others
Get on his good side and don't come off as bored. He gets mad at ppl who do. You must read or you won't pass. Attendance heavy. You must participate. If you write bomb papers, he likes you a lot. Doesn't tell you your grades until the very end of the semester. What he teaches is actually so interesting if you like literature. He shows alot ofvideos
If you want amazing grammar for the rest of your academic and professional career, take Prestridge's courses. He is a rigid grader, but is upfront about it and is willing to help you reach his standards. Fair warning, his humor is a bit satirical.
To this day, Dr. Prestridge is one of the best, if not the best, teachers that I've ever had. I personally felt that his course was only tough if I did not do the readings or put in effort. His feedback was solid and helped me improve on my grades. Honestly, he just made me excited to learn again. Sounds suck-up ish, but it's true.
He truly cares about helping students get caught up as long as they don't miss too much. He gets invested in students' lives and he cares. He gets off topic very easily, and he also gets angry easily. He ended class multiple times because we were talking while working on a group project. He has a very odd sense of humor, which helps a little bit.
Prestridge is an overall great professor. I am rating him a four rather than a 5 is because sometimes his sense of humor is hard to dictate. If you like dry or sarcastic humor, you'll love him. He is very clear about his grading criteria and even lets you dictate how your essay will be graded. When he asks a question, ANSWER, or he'll get upset.
Submitted nearly our whole class to the dean for self plagiarism on grammar journals. Did not grade our work until the end of the semester. Used his mandatory class time to make inappropriate jokes and belittle his students. The work itself is not hard but he is so unbearable that the work becomes hard when you dread attending his class.
He is unclear and contradictory on every essay he assigns. He is a harsh grader and is downright rude. I've had emails with him where he outright belittled me when I was asking for help. As a student who has a disability he is a very hard professor to work with and will disregard any request for extra help or any additional assistance you require.
The rudest imaginable professor. Believes he is much more intelligent than he is. Does not know how email, D2L, or computers work in general. Believes his opinions are facts, and somewhat teaches them as such. Not worthy of any salary. Should not be teaching in any form.
According to guidelines I can't let off on him, but his way of teaching is giving pop tests on readings that he does not let anyone know about specifically to bring down grades. He lies a lot about stories. After doing his tests, I believe he actually doesn't read his own passages he assigns to us and he strictly reuses his old lectures.
Mostly essays but easy grader
If you pay attention to his feedback on essays you will become a better writer. Lectures are very unhelpful. I learned more about his cane and dog during actual class times. He often forgets to post drop boxes for assignments or forgets about them entirely. I wouldn't jump at having him again, but I wouldn't hate it.
Overall, he is an alright professor. Nothing against him, he just wasn't a professor I definitely learned from. He is sometimes a harsh grader on essays. A good thing about him is that everything is worth the same points towards your grades. Meaning daily work and little assignments were as much as essays. But he definitely gave me a hard time.

To get a good grade you have to get on his good side. To do this you need to laugh at his jokes and talk to him. Lots of homework. Essays are HEAVILY graded on grammar. Although there was lots of work, he was actually funny sometimes. He'll try to make you get embarrassed but don't let him get to you just laugh it off.
I would not recommend taking this professor. I tried to give him benefit of the doubt, but he is simply rude and would say off-putting things. I had a concussion and was out of school for over a week. He gave me one week to make up a past essay along with other missed assignments, while I had to finish the current essay/assignments on top of that.
Terrific professor. He is super passionate about his subject and will coach you through everything you need to succeed in his course. All assignments are graded equally spanning essays to grammar work so completion and attendance are very important. Plenty of fun assignments including going outside to scream poetry which was fun.
He hardly responds to emails, forgets to post drop boxes for assignments, and even forgot about an assignment he told us not to do and put a zero in. Can come across as very rude and is not afraid to embarrass you. Will get mad at you if you don't respond to him in class or don't laugh at his jokes. Doesn't know how to work computers. DO NOT TAKE.
I do not have a strict opinion on Prestridge is interesting. I'll give it to him he is funny and I think he cares about you. The downside: He gave about 5 papers, each being political topics. I am sure you know what happens with politics and opinionated writing. Honeslty, it does not mix well. I wish our papers were more inspiring or important
His lectures consist only of talking about politics. Although he never says it outright, his condescending remarks make it clear that he can't stand Trump. When it comes to writing, he makes you follow his process ONLY. After you finish the essay, he'll most likely accuse you of using AI just because he runs it through his little website.
