AS difficult as econ may be this class was pretty easy.He does not lecture straight out of the book, he rambles a lot. Class is mandatory, workbook is required to be complete, and the test are confusing, overall it's still an easy class. He is hilarious.
Dr.Sarri is the most knowledgeable professor i have ever seen, the AFE program is really helpful for student who are seeking for higher standard in their business/financial career. It covers a lot of material that is necessary for CFA,CFP and other certificates, it is very useful program to prepare my CFA exam, I would encourage everyone to take AFE
Great professor. Lots of fun and really cares about his students' success.
This dude is a GENIUS! one of the smartest people i've ever met. His notes are pretty crazy and all over the place, but i didn't really copy them down, just payed attention in class. This man will make me rich one day i swear.. Highly recommend this class to anyone who thinks that they are somewhat intelligent, Dr Sarri will make you much smarter!
Attendance is mandatory. The professor is really helpful and Genius. You will learn a lot from his lectures. Do homework constantly, you will get an easy A. Pay attention to his review tests, you will do well on Midterm and final tests.
GREAT CLASS, KEPT IT INTERESTING.
Funniest and most entertaining professor I've had yet! He wont keep things boring and uses alot of real life situations to make us understand his lectures. Def recommend him!
Truly one of the most motivating and informative professors I've ever had!! Great teacher! A LOT of work but it is all very informative. Work on study guide throughout semester, pay attention to the practice tests he gives out (those are the best notes for his exams) and make sure you start early on the research paper!
Truly one of the most motivating and informative professors I've ever had!! Great teacher! A LOT of work but it is all very informative. Work on study guide throughout semester, pay attention to the practice tests he gives out (those are the best notes for his exams) and make sure you start early on the research paper. Do this and you'll get an A
Professor keeps the classes interesting and has a great sense of humor. He's very helpful and knows his stuff but his lectures are all over the place so don't try to copy all of it. READ THE TEXT prior to class and just take in what he is saying and it'll be good. Don't procrastinate the study guide and get a head start on the research project!!!
He seems like a cool guy and knows his stuff, but his directions come off as a bit unclear at times. 8 Micro Clinics, a midterm essay, a research paper, a final essay, and a study guide all due at the end, but I doubt he's going to thoroughly read all 450+ pages of everyone's work. He seems like he gives good grades if you at least somewhat try.
As I read through the comments from others and their concerns I would like to validate some of that in part, as well say that were anyone to have any issue in any realm, Dr. Sarri would be the first person to lend his support. He is a great Dr., Professor, and human being. I will always consider him a friend and a mentor.
Dr. Sarri is a great professor, he truly cares about his students. Classes go by really fast and expect to have a great time. Overall a great professor!
I have enrolled in his classes for 2 semesters. He is currently pushing to make the Applied Financial Economics a 4 year degree at CSN. He is very helpful professor and answers every question pertaining to finance or economics. In his class, please make sure you do the reading before class, as well as for the tests. Attendance is mandatory.
A little confusing to follow along with during class time, but an easy class none the less. Tests are open book. He definitely knows his stuff but can be confusing at times he is willing to help.
He is the sweetest guy!!! I took him online for 4 weeks and you have to do 3 essays and a study guide. The essays were simply easy, you just kind of explain the chapter in your own words nothing major. The study guide he asks you to rewrite the answers he provides and comment on the graphs and tables. he wrote back quickly to my answers via emai
Great teacher. Very helpful and responds to email fairly quickly.
Gives good feedback, participation matters, inspirational, not many tests, plenty of opportunities for extra credit, lectures are long but very interesting, hilarious, too few breaks, I also learned a lot from his clinics they are interesting & fun to do. I've had lots of college classes & this teacher is tops. I would take ANY class he offers.
Dr. Sarri kicks major ass. If anyone failed this class, they probably should drop out why they are ahead. Super easy, legitimately all you have to do is do chapter summaries (a monkey could do these) 8 micro clinics (easy analysis of companies) a study guide (HE GIVES YOU THE ANSWERS) and one paper. He is beyond helpful and always responds quickly.
Certainly an entertaining professor, Dr. Sarri is very well educated and experienced in the world of Economics on every level. The lectures are long, but incredibly informational and even entertaining. You won't use the textbook much, but, if you walk through the book with him during his lectures, it all ties together nicely.
Dr. Sarri has a very unusual teaching style. Attendance is mandatory as you will do research and present in each class (sounds worse than it is, 20% of grade). His lectures are from memory. All that aside, the class was not hard. He gives so much extra credit that you can't fail. If you do the extra credit (essays) than this class is a sure A.
Dr. Sarri is one of the best Prof. CSN has. He has real world experience and has lot's of knowledge when it comes to Business in general not just Econ. Very intelligent and also at the same time has a sense of humor which made his class fun. Show up, do the research Paper which he will walk you through, look over practice exams. You'll get an A.
Would take again if I could. Encourages you to participate in front of the class, but does not scold you if you get something wrong. He will NEVER get mad at you for some reason, very good grader. He wants all of his students to pass, I don't know anyone who has failed his class. One of the best professors I've ever had.
Very clear when assigned assignments. I only had three papers to write the whole semester and they were time consuming but fairly easy if you read the critical thinking book he requires. I took his class online and I SUPER recommend this course online. I haven't gotten my grade yet but I did all assignments and thought they were simple.
Very intelligent man, his lectures are interesting and life changing. He's extremely human, knowledgeable and caring. He makes class fun and interactive.
Great professor. He does care about his students and want them to consider a career in Economics. He makes the class very easy, just be on top of your study guides and read his required texts. Start your research paper early because 1500 words can be a struggle for any last minute do-ers.
I would definitely recommend taking Dr. Sarri!! He does assign long papers, however they're on interesting topics. Also, he gives extra credit if you ask. He is quick to reply to any questions you have. I would definitely take him again!!
Best, top professor at CSN & unlv. Prompt and accurate. Author. Practical and wise.
Prof. Sarri is passionate about global economics and instills that passion in each of his students. He makes long lectures interesting by including anecdotes and information on current events. He is always happy to help students however he can. He is part of the reason why I am now so interested in global news and countries' economies.
One of the best Professors. Funny and smart as heck, and made class enjoyable. He lectures solely on memory, so take good notes. If you need help or need something to be explained he got your back. He cares about his students to the fullest. I enjoyed him, more than the subject. His test are hard, just study and pay attention and ask questions.
Too professor. Very prompt and helpful. I am taking his Finance program and he literally found for me a career in finance I love. He may be demanding, but you learn the real, practical world. He wrote many books and he is an unparalleled educator. Thank you Dr. Sarri.
Lectures cover the chapters that were read. Each chapter took maybe 30 minutes (or less) to finish reading. Points for attendance. Points for group presenations (were very easy). Tests were not easy, but not hard either. Offers extra credit. The only hard thing to do was the final paper- so really prepare in advance for that one.
Professor Sarri is not only a great professor, but also a great person. I was scared to take ECON classes, specially 2 at the same time 102&103, but he is so helpful and always there for you thats this semester always flew by. He is amazing, take his classes and you will always have someone there of you. Too bad won't have him at UNLV :(
The amount of work for this class is RIDICULOUS. We have 2 required textbooks , 22 mini-essays (250-500 words), 8 clinics (AKA, 8 more essays each at least 250 words), extensive study guide (not optional), final macro-project (at least 1,500 words). Lots of time on your hands? No job? Not a full-time student? Take this class! Otherwise, beware.
Great teacher. He's a very smart & funny man. He makes the class an easy, comfortable experience for everyone. His homework isn't too bad at all, it's just a chapter a week, and research for lab assignments (which is easy and doesn't take long). The final paper takes a lot of time & work though, so do prepare in advance.
This class was pretty easy, the professor is really knowledgable. The book he wrote is essential to passing the class, because all of his tests are open book.
Dr. Sarri is amazing, fair, kind, respectful. The first class I've ever been in that he knows every student by name. He tells you straight up what he expects and on top of everything he is hilarious. Really enjoyed his class and highly recommend it. I took his Philosophy 102 class.
He is a great teacher, he dresses nice, there is a long research paper at the end of the semester, but it is overall easy. I would definitely recommend this class.
The whole class is designed to make you critically think. I even took notes on the syllabus. Their is a lot of course work, reading and papers. The class is very challenging, but completing it is rewarding. Most online classes tend to teach to the book, with this class i feel i retained more of the material by having to think more for myself.
His class is tough and you have to do the reading but he is a great teacher, he's there for you and if you need more time with certain assignments he will work with you if you communicate. He answers emails right away! Not many tests only a midterm and final! He's funny, nice and really cares about his study and his students. Take Notes!!
All of the professor's lecture come from memory. Also, make sure you get the book required, and take notes.
Dr Sarri is very knowledgeable.
Dr. Sarri really is one of the best professors you could take for microeconomics. He always gives prompt responses to questions and gives you feedback on assignments.
Dr. Sarri is a brilliant Professor! His knowledge of everything is beyond extensive and admirable. Extremely nice and understanding, also very funny. The material may be difficult for some to follow, but Dr. Sarri does a great job helping everyone grasp the concepts as best as possible.
Dr. Sarri is very knowledgeable in the field of economics and he will try his hardest to make sure that you are too. Don't expect this to be an easy class either. There are about 22 mini essays, 8 micro clinics, a project, and a study guide. Lot's of work, but you will learn much about economics. You should also know that 2 books are required.
Professor Sarri is great I took him for econ 102/103 and he is really knowledgeable about both subjects. Responds to emails promptly and clarifies when you need him to. Finish mini essays ASAP! If you're like me and work/school full time the workload can be time consuming. Text is required.
Great teacher! I participated in an internship, and I learned so much about finance from this class. I encourage everyone to take Econ 276 because it will give you real life experience if you're interested in finance. Prof Sarri is so helpful, and he usually responds to my emails within in a few minutes.
One of the best online classes I've taken! Be prepared to do work though!
Be sure to purchase the required book. I recommend to read the chapter before class and then to read again after the class lecture. The book is crucial to passing, midterm and final are open book/ open notes. Dr. Sarri is very kind and helpful. If you need advice with anything he doesn't hesitate to help you find a solution. Have a great semester!
Very nice teacher.
The online class is hard but I suggest you email or visit him. He's always available for his students. The material is not as difficult if you utilize his knowledge and willingness to help you in any way. The workload is a lot. (22 chap essays, 8 macro essays, 1500 word project, study guide). Do not mistake this class for an easy A. Good class.
VERY LONG PAPERS!! All assignments were very long papers and you must read his book to understand the class, lots of deep thinking which was good for the course but oh man tons of work!!
Dr. Sarri's teachings are excellent. He's very inspirational, vivacious, hardworking (read his educational bckgrnd), intelligent, gregarious, and overall phonomenal. He makes it to comprehend philosophy. His personal written book is a great for my law studies also. Economics is something i was not going to take further, now I am with Dr. Sarri.
I took philosophy for the first time, and couldn't have picked a better professor. Dr. Sarri was clear, helpful, and responded back to emails very quickly. He always noticed if someone had a question to ask, and was very understanding of everyone's needs. I highly recommend him, and he made class fun. Will take him again in the future
Although the other comments say that this class is easy, be prepared to write over 50 pages of essays. I based myself off the other comments, but I was let down when I found out about the huge work-load. Two books are also required. If this is your first ECON class, I would not recommend him online. I received an A, but students BEWARE!!!!
Funny and enthusiastic guy, Lectures can be long and boring sometimes. I felt comfortable asking him questions and talking to him, he always emails back too! If you show up to class and do the work, you'll pass with no problem.
Professor Sarri's lectures are long, but they are clear and interesting as well. The class consists of a midterm, final, and research project. An A is certainly attainable if you are willing to put in the time. All-in-all, I would recommend this professor.
Though it was not exactly what I had in mind, this class was certainly a good way to attain the necessary credits for PHIL 102. The class was interesting and the professor was incredibly helpful. There were not many assignments, just a midterm, final, and research paper. Great professor and class overall!
Dr. Sarri, is a great professor and has a good, humble attitude towards the students. He is always willing to help and clarify via email. The class is a lot of reading and speaking up in front of everyone. Easy to pass if you actually read the book and take notes.
A lot of reading, however Mr. Sarri is wonderful! Willing to answer any questions you may have.
Online class as a requirement for my major and IDK anything about economics. You'll write over 50 pages of essays from the 2 textbooks he makes you obtain. Then you'll write more essays on companies & other stuff. At the end you have a 13 chapter study guide (each about 8 pgs long). Doesn't post grades until semester end. Email him for help.
Tedious amounts of work. 19 essays in the first half of the semester and 13 in the last half+8 study guides. Your essays are on his book (mandatory read) so well over 200 pages of hard to digest information. I do not recommend taking this with a full schedule. SET HOURS OF TIME ASIDE. Online class is solely self taught. Email him for help.
Professor Sarri is uniquely helpful and pragmatic. I acquired a Finance career, thanks to him, with a worldwide Investment Bank. I urge you very much to take him!!
Dr. Sarri is one of a kind. He treats his students more like friends but still maintains that teacher student relationship. He makes learning the subject so interesting; you forget it's a class, however the readings are the ones to remind you it is a class just because of all the reading, but Dr. Sarri makes his books very interesting to read.
Very specific on assignment and grading. Gets back to you very quickly and can be reached for questions anytime. His teaching materials are very good and you walk away knowing subject.
Awesome professor! Extremely helpful!
Best online professor. Thoughtful, compassionate and responds to your questions and essays instantly. Cool professor. His written textbook is awesome. Will take him again and again.
Please read all reviews for ECON 102 if you are taking ECON 102. PHIL classes have good reviews, but ECON classes do not. The reason for that is because of all the work. So much reading and writing, and if that's your thing then, take this class. NO TEST/QUIZ or discussion boards whatsoever! 30, 1-2 page essays and 22 chapter assignments in total.
Econ102 16week online course is a lot of work. Set yourself up for success and stay on top of reading and writing papers. You will pass with flying colors. Response rate is amazing (5-20min) and gives great feedback. Also took Dr. Sarri for PHIL102 recommend him for that as well.
Dr. Sarri is one of the best professors I've ever had in CSN! His lectures are very informative, inspirational, and fun. Take him, you won't regret!
I took Dr. Sarri for his Critical Thinking class, Spring 2017. He is very intelligent and very funny. It is worth taking one of his classes, but make sure you pay attention to the material. It is not easy, but what he teaches in this class is very helpful in general for life. I would take one of his classes again.
Show up and you will pass, he is absolutely hilarious and makes a three hour class go by quickly. You are allowed 1 absence any additional ones you have the chance to make up the work. I took another PHIL102 course and had to drop it, I was extremely lucky to get Prof. Sari the second time around. He makes learning philosophy easy.
Dr. Sarri is a very knowledgeable professor. Each week there is a different discussion that you need to attend class in order to receive points. There are only two exams (a mid term and a final) which are both open note, open book. There is a final research essay due at the end of the semester. Cares more about students learning than anything else.
the class was fun and interesting. He was able to keep to keep your interest. so you want to come back every week. that was important deal with a very deep and intellect study Philosophy.
Dr. Sarri is a great professor with clear guidelines for his lectures. He has a friendly/hilarious personality but does not short change you with teaching the subject. He goes in depth with each topic and answers all questions. Gives fair assignments, times, and grading structure. Read show up participate and you should pass. One on CSN's best.
Dr. Sarri is fantastic. HIs class is extremely easy and very informative. Take him!
The course rests of four main projects. Self paced. A book that he wrote is one of the required text books and full of jargon. Very difficult reading. I am an A student. Difficult class to stay focused in though.
Great Professor. The text book was a must and there was a lot of work yet he was fair. The expectation was clear from the beginning so this course is pretty much what you make it.
Take Professor Sarri! In his class, you learn not only about Philosophy but also a lot for life. He's amazing and I would take him any time.
Professor Sarri will help you inside and outside of the classroom. He does not want you to fail. He will also help you grow as a person. too. He'll make sure your focused on bettering yourself for the future.
Dr. Sarri is an excellent teacher. His book is very hard to understand at first; you will need a thesaurus. Although the reading can be intimidating, if you show up for class he will go over the material in a way that makes the subject matter understandable or relatable.
Love the lectures during classroom time
I took this class mid spring semester as a 4 wk online course so I knew it was going to be intense. Heavy workload 1 analytical essay/ chapter & 22 chapters so 22 essays. There are 2 books, both are written by him (not cheap & hard to find used) The reading is hard and dry but just get through it & you'll learn a lot. Prof is kind & quick to help.
I took his shortened summer class (4weeks, 4 days a week, 3 hours each day) it still involved reading all the chapters from both textbooks but he covered all the topics during lecture. Both textbooks are required and are kind of pricey. He cut a lot of the bookwork and projects out since our class time together went by so quickly.
His summer class is very simple, very fast paced. It seems too fast to grasp everything he wants you to know, that is if you want to fully understand Macro-Economics. He is inspirational, and he has much knowledge to back up everything he talks about in his books. Each book is expensive, but is solid for you to understand what macro-economics is.
I was nervous entering the class at first, however once he started lecturing everything came with ease. YES! YES! YES! You will need the book! A lot of reading but overall he is funny and makes the class enjoyable.
Professor Sarri is easy going and understands that students have a life outside of school. That being said, he will give you a lot of information in every class. Pay attention to the lectures, do assigned work and readings and you should be fine.
Dr. Sarri is a great professor. He is very knowledgeable in his field of expertise and will teach you a lot in his lectures. He does not use PowerPoints, so make sure you listen carefully to his lectures and take notes. Lectures are fun and very informative. I took him for an accelerated summer course; it was always a pleasure to be in class.
Dr. Sarri is a great professor. I took a 4 week summer class with him so there's a few assignments/projects that we skipped so take that into account reading this. Some lectures expand into new chapters instead of chapter it's meant for, but a lot of material is repeated because they build on each other.
3 examines / 1 guide d'etude.
8 week online class. Consisted of 3 textbooks that are required. 250-500 mini essays (total of 22 for the entire class) including a study guide that needs to be completed for 11 chapters. Very quick to respond and good feedback!
8 week online was crazy fast. Reading chapters is crucial to writing the essays. Really glad I took Professor Sarri learned a lot about Globalization.
His speeches may be filled with MANY examples of the topic he is speaking about but he is clear, concise, and understanding. This professor wants you to get an A!
Professor Sarri is an amazing and easy going teacher. There's a lot of information in his lectures so it is crucial to listen and take notes for he does not use power points. No homework besides small group work and exams are open books. Great class to take!
Lectures are entertaining and informative, I wouldn't miss class, it's easier to listen and take notes than rely solely on the textbook. He is passionate about what he teaches and wants to help you succeed. Communicate questions and concerns and he will help you make it. Weekly assignments are easy, tests were open book.
Professor Sarri makes the class a fun environment to learn in. His notes are crucial to the chapters we do every week and help with the mid and final exam. There are weekly assignments that you research at home and then bring back to class to go over with your group which are pretty easy. Just read the chapters and take your notes, and all is good.
Professor Sarri is by far the best teacher I've ever taken. I had him for Phil 102, i liked him so much and how he teaches that im taking him for all my economics classes. Professor sarri really cares about his students and wants them to pass. Just show up and listen to his lectures and you will pass. Trust me take him. He's beyond smart.
He's seriously one if not the best professor I have ever had. I've learned so much this past semester, I am grateful. Class is manditory and so is participation and reading of material is critical to your growth. I highly recommend this course and this professor. He definitely cares about his students and what he's teaching.
Professor Sarri has to be one of the funniest, outgoing, happiest teachers ive ever been taught by. His jokes lift the spirit of the lectures and he always dresses to impress. Loved the class.
Im so happy I took professor Sarris class. He always brings good energy and humor to the classroom and wants his students to pass and cares about them. Each class there was a lecture followed by a presentation with your group on a topic that was assigned the previous class which was easy. Great teacher, amazing fashion sense!
I had taken a 8 week course. Requires two texts. Prepare to write critically on economic topics often. The grade consists of homework and writing assignments from the book which he has author ed. High level reading. Uses esoteric terms. Very philosophical in his approach to economics. You will learn a great deal. A must take.
Took an eight week course. Requires two text books that you have to buy new. The online class was a mid-term, final, and study guide. For both the mid-term and final you have to write 11 mini-essays for each term. A lot of reading and writing. His globalization book is a tough read. But he is a fair grader and response to emails quickly.
professor sarri cares about his students. one research paper for this class is required. open book test for mid term and final. phil 102 can be boring. instructor makes it fun. we do labs each weeks on subjected listed on sybullus. enjoy instructor
Personally, I'm not the writer type but I will write if I have to. This course for a 102 class is VERY difficult and requires a lot of reading, writing, etc. If you're not a strong writer, good luck! I personally don't mind writing, but what you write about is all based on your reading for his two textbooks required. Would not take again :-(
He requires a lot of reading and writing but he is a fair grader and response within a day. He really cares about he's students.
Weekly clinics, Mid-term & Final exam, Research paper. At first the class was a little intimidating but I soon realized why Prof Sarri is rated so high. He is the most intelligent man I have ever met. Take his class he is extremely knowledgable and funny and you will learn a lot from him. He gives a lot of extra credit opportunities.
BEST PROFESSOR EVER! Professor Sarri is amazing. He is very knowledgeable, I have learned a lot from him. He is outgoing, funny and always happy. You will not be bored during his lectures. Lecture, and a weekly clinic. 1 midterm, final and research paper. Everything open book. He wants his students to excel. I would recommend this class & professor
Professor Sari will help you pass the class with several extra credit opportunities and is willing to work with his students. He is knowledgable about the subject he teaches and will explain any concept in different ways to help everyone in class understand. His notes on the board are messy but if you pay attention you will have no problem.
Took the online summer 4wk class and honestly disappointed. He makes you buy two textbooks, both of which were not the easiest to understand and had unusual grammar at times. When he emailed me back on a question I had I was more confused than before and the way he responded was unusual. He also expects you to have previous knowledge of econ.
Best Professor Ever! Dr. Sarri is very engaged with his students. He is unbelievably patient and prompt. I will gladly take him again and again.
I took his Econ 102 class in the summer. His class requires 22 essays and 17 study guides to be submitted. This was no easy class and he is a tough grader. However, his response time is unreal, he is always willing to help, and he gives you extra credit if you ask. He is a great professor!
Although that was probably the toughest and most chaotic 4 weeks of my life, I needed that PUSH to make me a better student. I think this class prepared and gave me a real taste of what it is to be in college. He is also very easy to contact if you have any kind of questions and he never makes you feel stupid for asking.
There isn't that much work to do, and he is very lenient on it as well. I went and spent two full days on the assignments and easily finished. Very kind and easy to talk to. I would take him again for any class.
Over the course of 8 weeks there were 22 mini essays (1 page each), and a study guide. The midterm and the final were made of 11 essays each that counted toward 80% of your grade. The study guide is worth 20% of your grade and is honestly easy. This is a DIY course but Sarri is very helpful if you reach out to him. I suggest working ahead.
Professor Sarri is a real gem. He gives the best feedback and is encouraging.
Dr. Sarri is outstanding. He makes you work hard. But he'll reward you if you your job. I will take him again.
Dr. Sarri is an excellent teacher that gives great lectures, i had him for a 3 hour lecture and he gives 15 min break in the middle so you don't get burnt out. 10/10 would take again
Amazing teacher and he gives great lectures. He really wants you to succeed and pass the class. I would highly recommend taking his class.
Took a 4 week summer course. Easy class and the professor will work with you so you understand.
2 books are needed and both are expensive since they are custom. Overall there are 22 mini-essays and 14 study guides. The study guides test your understanding and make sure you understand the material. The answers are given to you. For the mini-essays you write 250-500 words about a topic of your choice covered in the chapter. It's an okay class
Awesome professor! Dr. Sarri is encouraging, helpful, and gives great feedback. Both his economics and globalization finance are great.I will take him again for many classes he teaches.
Dr. Sarri is great. Eccentric and enthusiastic made for very entertaining classes. Assignments are layed out and easy to do. Take lots and lots of notes! Though things are covered in class its useful to check up on the book as well.
Dr. Sarri Made this class very interesting and created a welcoming milieu. Most importantly, the examples he presented in class regarding the reading material were straight to the point. It is important to attend class having the chapters read beforehand so that the only thing you focus on is his lecture, taking notes and asking questions.
Dr. Sarri was great! He's a caring, hilarious, he gave good feedback and was extremely professional. If professor Sarri taught every possible class at CSN, I would pick him as a professor every time. So if you're debating on taking his class... there is no debating left. TAKE HIM!!
Prof. Sarri is inspirational and actually wants you to try and pass. In his course, it's pretty simple. Just 1 mid-term test (20 questions), 1 final exam (20 questions), 1 essay (6 pages or "250" words per pages), and "clinics + being in class". Philosophy was (probably still is) not something for me, but it was a required course for me.
I took his 8 week online course and it is definitely the hardest class I have ever taken. He wrote his own textbooks for the class and they are expensive and one is very hard to understand. When he messages you it sounds like he used a thesaurus for every word, and it isn't the easiest to understand him. I don't recommend taking him online.
Not a bad class at all. Professor can be a bit confusing at times (same goes for the textbook he wrote himself and the tests), but is very enthusiastic and infectious. No lecture is dull, and the weekly clinics are interesting and thought-provoking. Could stand to be a bit less descriptive in the way he talks and writes, but a solid class overall.
Heavy on lecturing. He wants you to pass and is willing to help you with whatever confuses you. I wish more of my professors were as passionate as he is.
Dr. Sarri is fantastic at what he does! Lectures apply to every day life. Pay attention, take notes, and make sure you come to every class because there is a lot of information you won't want to miss. Weekly clinics, midterm, final, and scientific paper. Extra credit opportunities offered throughout the semester. Overall, glad I took this course!
Very well respected, caring, hillarious and amazing overall especially on his knowledge. Made his own textbook, a little hard to understand but if you attend every class it makes the textbook easier. The class was a bit tough at times but it was worth the challenge. Definitely encourage people to take this class especially for the critical thinking
Dr. Sarri is a very charismatic individual who is loved and respected by all. If you are truly looking for a class that is worth your time and money look no further. The class consist of weekly labs, midterm, final, and a research paper. Don't buy the physical textbook just get the online version to save yourself money.
WOW! Dr. Sarri is a great teacher! His syllabus is clear and he sends regualr reminder emails for ecouragement. Plus he responds to emails right away , and has great use of emogies :). I would definitely take a class of his again.
I rated this teacher poorly based on his feedback. If he gave well understood feedback and made grading criteria better the class might have been easier, but he doesn't, I don't understand what he is saying. I personally struggled. He writes the books himself and they are expensive. One of them was hard to understand. I honestly learned nothing.
Fascinating professor. He is very encouraging and answers right away. I will continue to take Dr. Sarri's courses.
Great professor. Understands not everyone in his course is going to be an economist but if you try and show that you understand the concepts/vocab words in each chapter he is a fair grader. His syllabus looks intimidating but do not let it be. Study guide has the answer. Keep up with your reading & your essays and you will pass with flying colors.
Very confusing:( good luck if you are taking this class.
Professor Sarri is the best online I took. He is a top professional and he is quick to answer you. He even gets you discounts on the books with the bookstore and the publisher. He offers extra credit and he is a tough but he wants you to SUCCEED! Take him!!
Dr. Sarri is the man at CSN and UNLV! I like very much his passion and patience; also, his books he wrote in Philosophy and Economics!
Awesome professor. A lot of work but you learn practical economics worldwide. Don't hesitate taking him; he answers quickly and he makes sure you will succeed.
Has a very thick accent, hard to understand and goes off on many tangents. He is a very loud man with too many thoughts running around in his head. The class is called "Critical thinking/ reasoning" should be a pretty simple class to pass. However, with him he makes things way too confusing. He is a nice guy though, caring.
Are you kidding me? The last comment/student mentions that the professor is hard to understand etc. Dr. Sarri is the clearest and the most eloquent. The dude is a genius as he can connects pholosophy, logic, physics, math, finance, medicine, etc., altogether with concrete examples. The last student is a poor listener or rude. Take this prof.
Awesome professor. He answers super-quickly and offers extra credit because he wants you to succeed. A super-cool professor.
The book required are written by him and they are expensive so wait for the syllabus to come out before buying since he gives discount code. Took him twice since homework are easy, you just have to read a lot and do critical thinking on the books he wrote which is essential on quizzes. NOTE: the books are not student friendly.
Dr. Sarri is hands down the best. He is very knowledgeable, always happy, and answers you quickly. This is my second class with him and he is the same, or more, encouraging professor. Get his textbooks online with coupons from bvtlab or the bookstores. Oh, he is a sharp dresser!
Very self-guided class but Dr. Sarri is very quick to respond to requests for help and guidance. Great course materials, moderately challenging tests and one short essay.
Dr. Sarri is hilarious! His critical thinking class made the rest of my classes so much easier. I would love to have him as a professor for all of my classes.
Very kind and open. Explains the subject clearly but you still have to read the material to get more into it.
Such an amazing professor! He is very kind and open to his student. Explains the material very deeply. Easy class also, you have two test and they are open note! AMAZING PROFESSOR!
Dedicated to logic and teaching. Wants his students to succeed
Very knowledgeable and helpful professor. Make sure you read the book and study daily!
Easiest A ever !! show up and you'll pass. Only a midterm and final 20-25 questions multiple choice. Probably the easiest tests you'll ever take . Also a final essay and weekly group presentations that are 5 minutes or less.
Took him for online Econ 102 class and he was great at responding back. I am pretty new to the style of 8 week fast paced courses and annoyingly asked him every concern I might have! He is pretty clear, gives reminders and is responsive to any questions you have. Need the textbooks, assignments are somewhat easy but can be time consuming.
Great teacher, easy going, gives opportunity for extra credit. funny in class does not make the class boring.
Took 8 week online classes, not bad, quick responses
Very charismatic professor. Course is easy if you keep up with the reading.
there are four things you need to worry about and two of which are open book 2 try exams online which is super generous. next is a 4 paged essay and the study guide. yes its quite a lot but if you keep on top of your reading then you should be fine. Be warned its a looooot of reading but what else would you expect in a 8 week course?
There are very few assignments which makes it very manageable. Lots of reading but honestly to be expected with this type of class. Some stuff was a little confusing at first but if you email him he is pretty quick at getting back to you. I have not been graded on my essay or study guide yet so I cannot really say how he is with grading.
I took the 8 week course. 2 tests (2 attempts), 1 short essay, and a study guides. Assignments are spaced out fairly. The professor does a great job responding quickly to any concerns.
Overall is was a very forgiving course. Too much reading in the amount of time giving so it's very easy to get overwhelmed with all the information. However he does give you 2 attempts on the 2 exams which is very generous. I think is grading scale is also fair.
I took his 8 week online class and it was a challenge. Get ready to read a lot and staying on track on yoyr reading. He only has 4 assinments a midterm, a final, study guides for each chapter, and a essay. Not impossible to pass if you keep up with yout reading.
This class required 2 textbooks. I was worried they were going to be super hard to read since they are by Dr. samuel Sarri. However, they were understandable and easy to follow along. You do not have to worry so much about the tests, if you actually read each chapter and did your study guides for each chapter.
Great, simple professor. You learn on your own but his own textbooks are very clear and a good read. He responds within minutes anytime I email him (it is crazy how fast). He is a genuine professor who cares about you.
The class overall is really easy. I took the 8-week class and there are four assignments (Mid-Term, Pre-Final, Study Guides, and Mini Essay). Each is 25 points and both tests had an unlimited time frame. The reading and study guides are really easy and could look intimidating, but the professor makes sure to respond ASAP. Also, extra credit!
I took the 8 week online course for this class. The course consists of only 4 assignments, each 25% of your grade. The first two assignments are quizzes for specific chapters of two books that you will need. The third assignment is a study guide, the final is a 1000 word essay. Easy class, just read enough! Sarri is very nice and replied v fast!
From day one the professor was super helpful. He responds very quickly to emails. Be ready to read if you want an A. Very manageable even if you're doing the 8week course.
I took the 8 week course and it is pretty straight forward. There are only 4 assignments each worth 25%. Class is easy as long as you read and do what you are asked to do.
Get the two books and the class is very simple to go through, with the material n hand.
I took the 8-week online class. There are 4 assignments (Mid-Term, Pre-Final, Study Guides, and Mini Essay). The Q's in the tests are not well-written. There are two textbooks required that you MUST read in order to get through written by the prof... The prof isn't completely clear and hard to understand. Seems to just be better than other profs..
If you take the online class, there are only 4 real assignments you have to worry about, the 2 exams are a bit comprehensive, but it's open note, with 2 attempts. Other than that, just make sure you do the study guide and essay, and you should be home free.
Simple format for online class, not too hard.
Professor Sarri writes back in a very timely manner. As long as you do the reading and understand the key ideas in both books this 8 week course should be fairly easy for you. Only 4 assignments total, each worth 25% of your grade. Study Guide assignment takes time so start that early, overall not too much work for an 8 week course.
He is a really nice and friendly man. He taught us a lot of things beyond this subject. His lecture was always fun and interesting. I love his personality too! I highly recommend you to take his class:) You can get extra credits too!
Easy class, but there isn't much teaching on the professor's end. He is available for questions but most of the class is based on only the textbook. Easy enough class, do the four assignments and you'll pass.
This teacher teaches by lecture and discussion. There are weekly clinics in which you research with a group about a certain topic and then present it in front of the class. This teacher is respectful to his students and tries his best to answer or clarify any questions or concerns. Take and organize detailed notes, and you will pass the exams.
Dr. Sarri was an amazing instructor he is very clear and is able to be reached outside of canvas via email. He gives you a lot of useful knowledge, tips and resources. I had already taken him for my Economics 103 and saw how he was a very good instructor I couldn't pass on the opportunity. Do your work and you will be just fine!!
The professor gives great feedback and responds to emails very quickly. If you have any questions or concerns Dr. Sarri is there to help! For ECON 102 the gradebook consists of a midterm, final, study guide, and a 4-page essay.
Do the work and you'll be fine. 2 exams, 1 study guide, and 1 paper.
Great professor overall. Participation and attendance is required, but the class is enjoyable with this professor. Some of the lectures can be hard to follow, however, Professor Sarri is there to help you understand!
The class is really easy. Made up into 4 sections. Pre final, Final, Study Guide, and Essay. Straight forward.
Everything is very straightforward & he replies quickly. Do the work, and you'll pass.
Do your work and you'll pass.
Few assignments but a lot of studying.
Dr. Sarri was definitely an interesting teacher, I feel like I did not learn much about philosophy because what we did in class was not really helpful to what was on the textbook. Although you won't use the textbook during class, it is helpful for the exams. If you show up, do the term paper, and the 2 exams it should be an easy A!
Whenever I ask him, he responds quickly. There are 4 things to grade us; mini-essay that requires 1000 words, study guide, mid-term, and final. It is a very straightforward class.
I took this class over eight weeks online. There are four assignments total including a mid-term and final consisting of 25 multiple choice questions with two attempts each, a study guide for chapters 4-17 that must be handwritten, and a 1000 word essay. Lots of reading but pretty easy. Only complaint is how expensive the books are for his class.
Took the online eight week course, the final class grade was made up of four assignments, if you do them in a timely manner, you are bound to pass. Only downside is I had trouble finding certain posts and links to submit assignments on Canvas.
Great teacher , took the online class very few assignments dont fall behind ! Also he will always answer to every email you send him .
Dr. Sarri is a great choice. Took him online and there was only 4 assignments, and even a generous 2 attempts on the midterm and final. My only issue is that I had a bit of difficulty interpreting the grading rubric for the mini-essay, however since no one else seemed to have any trouble, maybe I'm just stupid. haha. The StudyGuide was very useful
Professor Sarri is a good teacher he is very lenient if you show up to class. His lectures can be pretty heavy, sometimes he drifts off to a different topic. As for the midterm and final he would give us a pretest and let us use it for the test and it was open note/book. Overall he is a decent teacher.
He inspired me, and taught lessons that i'll keep forever. Philosophy will change your life, and he's the best mediator.
I took Dr. Sarri's PHIL 102 class as a program requirement, and not really expecting to learn much, yet I feel like I did learn a great deal about formulating my critical thinking. Dr. Sarri is thoughtful, friendly, informative, and did a great job of getting the class to move in the right direction. His expectations were clear from the start.
Easy weekly homework pro/con assignment discussed in front of the class in groups ("LAB"). Lectures are bit difficult to follow as he sometimes does a lot of explanations within explanations then returns to the original subject. (Unorganized Flow) Extremely fair grader. 3 assignments Mid Term 2 attempts/Final 2 attempts/ & Term Paper Project.
I took the one month, accelerated class over summer. He uses his own text book that he wrote himself. I wasn't a fan of the textbook as its a bit hard to study. He likes to abbreviate everything and with all the studying you're already doing, who has time to also memorize a bunch of abbreviations? He responds quickly to emails and questions tho.
Very odd class to take. It consists of only 4 items, all due at the end of the semester: Midterm quiz, Final quiz, Term paper, and Study Guide (from the back of his textbook). It was like we got handed 2 textbooks and were told "It's all due at the end of the semester, see you then." Seems like he would be great to take in person though.
The "class" is the professor sending you the syllabus, which states a test midway, then a test at the end with a study guide and term paper. There is no teaching at all or any interactions. I could have learned more by buying books from Amazon, and cheaper too. The books are written by professor, and incredibly hard reads.
Professional, prompt, compassionate, and very helpful..
Dr. Sarri is a great professor all around. His intentions are pure when lecturing and stresses the importance of critical thinking. Very well spoken and genuinely cares about the success of his student.
Best Professor I've taken, gives good feedback and a very intelligent guy. Would take his class again.
Dr. Sarri's Phil 102 was a nicely paced class. Not too much and not too little. He responds quickly when you have a question and is a pretty reasonable teacher. The course is very structured and there will be no surprises as far as assignments or due dates are concerned.
A good course and he is responsive and helpful. Although there aren't many guiding assignments. You read the textbook on your own with a midterm, final, and term project. If you hate reading this isn't a course for you but if you'd rather be on your own then this class is perfect.
Dr. Sarri is an amazing teacher and the biggest inspiration for me in Philosophy. His responses are fast, always willing to help you, and really generous when it comes to feedback from students' work.
He is very understanding and quick to respond for all issues.
This class was a decent experience. Profesor Sarri is very kind and truly cares about the students and that they learn something. Unfortunately, his lectures are very long, wordy, and outright boring, as is the textbook. However, it was not hard to pass this class, simply two tests, a mini verbal presentation, and a six-page paper.
Amazing Professor he answered my questions almost immediately, he cares for his students and provide great feedback. Just two exams, one e-study guide, and a mini essay. In addition, he offers extra credit. He gives clear indications in the syllabus and reminds you to read. I would definitely take him next semester for Econ 261!
Dr. Sarri is a very caring professor, he always responds quickly to every email and takes the time to thoroughly explain and clarify doubts you may have. He also gives extra credit opportunities and is overall a generous professor. The online 4 week course requires A LOT OF READING but it's manageable. I will be taking him next semester as well.
Dr. Samuel Sarri is professor that takes care for his students. He responded my emails very fast and with clear indications. We just had 2 exams, one essay, and a e-study guide that you can type.
Took the 8 week Microeconomics with him 100% online during covid. Even though its an accelerated class the assignments are manageable. Hes approachable, answers emails ASAP and uses textbooks that wont put you to sleep. I wish I couldve taken Macro with him too.
Not sure if this was due to the pandemic, but taking this class online was a waste. There was no work, just read the textbook, take the midterm, final, and write a final essay. You're teaching yourself basically. I emailed so many times asking for help and never got any. Either ignored my emails or gave me sarcastic responses that made me feel dumb
Professor Sarri wants his students to pass. He is extremely prompt and reassuring when questions are asked.
Dr. Sarri, is an amazing professor. He thoroughly explains the concepts and gives many examples. He provides extra credit opportunities. He makes himself available for any questions. I recommend his class to everyone! The benefits of critical thinking go beyond this class. Critically thinking is a valuable skill that needs practice and patience.
Doctor Sarri is an amazing professor. Take note that you will learn new vocabulary, because he DOES NOT speak laymen terms. I had to research many new words to better understand him. His lectures are pretty long but as long as you read the book you will pass. At first its kind of intimidating, and then you become a true critical thinker.
Professor Sarri has this enthusiastic personality that puts everyone in the room in a better mood. His classes are very straight forward and he always responds to his emails in a timely manner. He shows that he cares and will go the extra mile for his students, so you should do the same. If you do the work you will succeed.
Dr, Sarri is an awesome professor. He always responds to email promptly when I ask the question. He cares for his students and he wants his students to succeed. He also provides opportunities for extra credit. You will succeed if you put yourself in the effort.
Reasonable amount of work throughout the course. There was no interaction throughout the course, simply a paper and two exams. I would recommend a different class if you are actually interested in philosophy. One of my only issues was with the assigned textbook, which was full of jargon and needlessly complex given the level of the class.
Professor Sarri's online class was really fun. 2 textbooks are required, which are a little pricey. Just don't fall behind. There are only 4 assignments for the whole semester. 3 of which are due the week of finals. If you wait until then, you won't make it.
This class was online this semester and your grade relies on only 3 assignments, a paper and two exams (20 questions). The book is written by him and its honestly confusing to read and unnecessarily complex. Take another Professor if you can, unless you want a super easy A.
Great and supporting professor. He replies quickly and he is of high integrity. What do you expect philosophy is a dry subject? Dr. Sarri simplifies it by giving you tons of real life examples. Take him!
Professor Sarri is terrific. I took his Internship finance program and succeeded thanks to his encouragement. In fact, he endorsed me to land a career with an major local Las Vegas bank. A lot of readings + 120 hours Internship + discussions + a Jobshadowing Report.
He is brilliant and a real world and life experiences professor. Will take him again and again.
Great Professor. Took econ 102/103 four week course, replies within hours. My only wish, to take Dr. Sarri in person. For accelerated online courses, best advice is to follow the scheduled curriculum in the syllabus. Book is mandatory, especially for the study guide worksheets. Gives detailed feedback on graded work. Would take again TIMES 10.
Dr. Sarri is great online, & taking him again for ECON103! He so friendly and responds within hour, even past midnight. Took for summer session. Graded on discussions, multi choice midterm, multi choice final, study guide, & 1k word essay. He requires textbook which you can find cheaper than offered on website. Overall fantastic professor!
Assigns TWO expensive books he wrote himself. Doesn't teach, teach yourself course (online). Types strangely, hard to understand syllabus and books. 10 Discussion posts, 2 exams, study guide (graded), 1000w mini-essay. Extremely easy but no substance. Going to get an A or B having learned nothing. Nice guy though, probably a good prof in person.
Awesome professor. He responds quickly even after midnight or at five am. He get you engaged and expect you to work hard to excel. Yes, his books are pricy but his books publishers, especially the online version, are discounted. You can borrow them from library, first come first served. Best ever and do not listen to negative people.
Dr. Sarri is amazing.. He is talented and he writes his own books, cheap online. He always answer me right the way and I will time again and again.
Great guy! He answers you quickly and gets you constantly engaged.
Do all your work and will pass this class. Books are expensive. Easy grader and provided good feed back. Responds to the emails fast.
The online class is clearly an afterthought. He didn't really do anything, there's a midterm, 2 final quizzes, disc., & an essay; each closes after 24 hrs. Abbreviates everything and uses his own book (the book is very convoluted). Assignments are vague and his response to contacting him once was impatient, almost no feedback. Don't take online
This class is really interesting, and the energy of the class is quite helpful. Philosophy as a whole is a one of the topic to discuss, and this class helped with critical thinking. If you like philosophy then you definitely will like this like. The class isnt easy or hard, Ill say its perfectly balanced. Dr sarri is the fastest replier also.
Dr. Sarri is great! He is very responsive and always has your best interest. Class consisted of a weekly discussion, midterm, final and term project. You'll definitely need a dictionary handy in his class. Instructions might be a bit unclear, but he's happy to clarify if you reach out. A very caring professor overall!
Prof. Sarri has you buy his own 130$ book which consists of 200 pages of incomprehensible loose leaf word salad. The class consists of weekly discussions and a term paper. He does outline what he expects in the syllabus and is a generous grader. There are no lectures so it is basically a self taught course. NOT recommended for first year students.
Very intelligent and compassionate professor. He answers you, asap. And encourages you to succeed. His e-book is available cheap online and free to check out at the library. I recommend him highly..
Excellent professor. He will help you with all your learning and training needs in Financial Economics, including job placement. Take him!!
One of the best professors you will encounter at CSN. People in my class initially took the class simply to get credits and left wanting more. Respect him and do not be afraid to ask questions and you will be set.
Prof. Sarri is a pro and he is unbelievably encouraging. If you are engaged and do your work, then you will learn a ton of knowledge and you will pass successfully. He is my best..
Dr. Sarri is caring, pushes you to engage with your peers, and always available to answer your concerns and issues. He is definitely one of my best professors of all times at CSN and UNLV.
Dr. Sarri gives great feedback, and you can see that he really cares about his students. I would really recommended Dr. Sarri and PHIL 102 10/10
Professor Sarri was very helpful to me during my ECON 102 course. He responds to the email right away. I can say I did not find this class hard. It was easy to navigate.
Last commentary is very negative. Dr. Sarri is a great guy and professor. His Syllabus is thorough and clear. He answers you right away and he is encouraging and makes you work hard and smart. Please do not listen to disgruntled people.
Dr Sarri is a great instructor.
Dr. Sarri is an awesome instructor. Clearly outlined syllabus, well-defined tasks and assigned grades, completion dates and expectations laid out. easy to follow and complete the course. Dr Sarri provides good feedback in timely manner as well.
Professor Sarri is amazing and caring. He is always there to help you and to answer questions. He is available all the time to help you. Take his class!!!
Hello everyone! Doctor Sarri is an incredible professor; I've taken both of his economics courses and can't say enough good things about them. The curriculum is self-explanatory; nonetheless, to achieve class requirements, always follow up with his rubric layout. I wish I could enroll in Dr. Sarri's Econ 261 class; I'd like to learn a lot more.
took the 4-wk summer class. generous/easy grader. graded only on a midterm and final quiz (open note/book), a 1500 word final term paper, and 6 discussion posts. he's a fast replier and replies to any questions. I didnt have difficulty understanding the textbook but it can be confusing. overall, a good class and manageable for the summer.
I took the 8 wk ECO102, which is very intense. He is clear about expectations and grading system. You can expect him to respond to questions quickly, concisely and politely. There are 2 texts - Microecon and Globalization. The Globalization text book is an extremely tough read. I am glad that I chose his Macroeconomics class for my next 8 weeks.
The professor required two textbooks each being over $100 even after using the discount code he provides, I don't understand why and how he's charging that much especially if it's his own book. I only bought the one that has the study guides with it because they are required for an assignment due at the end of the semester. Hard to understand too.
Excellent, excellent professor. Dr. Sarri is incredibly encouraging with constant Announcements and Reminders on your Discussions and Exams. I will take all of his e-courses.
Polite, professional, and generous professor.
Dr. Samuel Sarri, PhD, total two test, he made it easy, you have 24 hours for each test, so you can get good grades easy. I took the 8 weeks for fall 2022. The professor is really good but this class requires two books, total $343.25. A lot of reading and understand each chapter by yourself.
Dr. Sarri was a great professor. Course load was not too heavy and grading was relaxed. The two books required for this classes were written by him, but were well written and informational. Would take another class of his if available.
Dr. Sarri gives us a very clear instructions about what to do through semester. All the lecture require reading and understanding the lecture then discuss in the discussion tab. There are just a 2 quiz ( included the final), and 1 Study Guide and 1 essay. All we need is put effort into it and get an A. Good luck, fellow!
very kind and understanding Proffessor
Took his online Econ courses; You definitely have to be self-sufficient and you can definitely pass the class, but to have a deeper understanding of the material, you have to dig-deep. Don't be afraid to ask for help because the instructor is definitely caring. He gives clear, constructive feedback, and his grading criteria is specific.
Absolutely fantastic professor! He is always on time and his Internship finance course got me an awesome finance firm opportunity!! Thank you Dr. Sarri from the heart.
This was an 8-week class and even though there was ALOT to read, the books gave many examples and were detailed. The books are expensive, but you can rent the textbook at the library! Consists of 10 discussions, a 1k word paper, 1 study guide, a midterm, and a final. When I had questions, he responded in a timely matter. He cares about the subject!
While the course is easy, I personally found it annoying as the professor uses unnecessarily verbose language constantly (and usually incorrectly), making reading anything he's written janky at best. He occasionally teaches something that is demonstrably wrong. Aside from that, once you figure out how to read his nonstop nonsense, its an easy A.
very easy course, he's understanding. the book is expensive but everything you'll need is online anyways.
Economics is not my favorite subject, but this 4-week (summer) class was excellent. Dr. Sarri provides the tools you need (study guide and detailed syllabus) to pass his class and provides frequent feedback to discussion posts.
I just finished 4wk online Econ 102 course. Overall an easy class, but a lot of work. A lot of reading! 10 discussion posts (worth 30%), a midterm (worth 25%), a final exam (worth 25%) & a study guide (worth 20%). You get 2 tries per test, 24hrs to complete & a chance to submit an extra credit paper (750 words) worth 8 points to your lowest score.
The classmate who posted on July 1st below is wrong. Not want to learn or frankly they are RUDE. Dr. Sarri is extremely helpful. His books are inspiring and well written. His grading is fair if you are ambitious to learn instead of complaining and attacking him. I am just saying. So, please do not let negative individuals influence you.
If you want an easy enough A I suppose it is fine but you will learn nothing in this class, so if you'd like to learn take someone else. You have to buy the professor's "book". It costs $150 and is loose-leaf paper. 70+ pages of it are blank. The rest is a convoluted word salad. A single sentence can be a paragraph or an entire page. Run away
I took PHIL 102 for summer for 4 weeks , which was very compact course, every other day you had discussions questions , 1 mid term 1 final, and 1 Essay. overall I liked it.
This professor is unbelievably helpful and patient. His CT book may be complex and long-winded but that's Philosophy and not Emotional Ignorance. For God's sake, find the darn book online or at the library for free or for cheap rent and open-mindedly Read it.
Great online class, the professor is awesome.
Dr Sarri is the best professor. He shows and proves how much he does care for his stunts to be successful. I would definitely take him again.
The nicest professor ever, but this course has been a nightmare. He types in very weird ways, so his feedback is never clear. Many students were confused about grading criteria, and the book is a lot of run on sentences and abbreviations that don't make sense. This professor is very intelligent and a kind grader, but not the best online teacher.
Super online course. The professor is demanding for your good. Dr. Sarri is quick to respond and his feedbacks are based on his excellent Rubrics/Canvas: His grading, as he states, is "fair and merciful'. His books and study guide are well-written and his Canvas shell is thorough. Take him:)
Not only is he the nicest professor, he is also super-encouraging. His Canvas shell and book are very clear but tons of works (near daily discussions, big term projects, quizzes).
AMAZING professor!!
Dr. Sarri is fantastic, a lot and a lot of work.
Not the best professor, his syllabus can be confusing. Still is even though I passed. Be prepared to put work into the first half of your time, because its heavy-on reading. However, if you can understand it then you will be fine. The most annoying this was the SG. The exams are not bad at all. Take this class if you are looking work.
awesome class and a great Professor
I took his course over Fall 2023 and it was easy enough to get a B. You'll need to buy his textbook (around $127) in order to do the assignments. Reading each week is important and consists of 10 discussions + 2 exams (mid and final, open book) + argumentative essay. Overall he is very fair and everything is clear on the syllabus.
8 week course consisted of 10 discussion post that were each 300-500 words long plus a response to another student. A midterm, final and a 1500 word essay worth half of your grade. For me this professor was very confusing and never gave clear instruction even after emailing him directly.
Wonderful professor. He will respond instantly. His Canvas Shell is complete; his Syllabus and books are clear. Check with the libraries and TAP program for Free. Check early. They are also free lectures that mirror his textbooks.
Dr. Sarri is my best professor. His book is comprehensive for CT/Logic and his authored book is cheap online or at the libraries. If you study regularly (a lot of discussions, quizzes, and essays), you will succeed. Take this professor.
Great professor I took both ECON AND PHIL from him similar grading in both classes and discussions great teacher and is always available to help you
The books cost $217.80 even with the discount. Other than this, the class has 10 Discussions, 2 open-book Exams with 2 attempts, and 1 Required Study Guide [200 pages]. For those of you who procrastinate, the SG took me about 4 days to complete, but I would recommend starting earlier. Overall, not a hard class if you pay attention to feedback.
Expectations are clear and reading/participation is a must. Professor Sarri is compassionate about economics and you will learn so much from him.
The class was fairly easy. The textbooks came out to be $200 which was a down side but the reason why I say it was because I could have gotten an A without the textbooks as well. The class consisted of 10 discussions, 2 tests, and a study guide that were all easy. There were two tries for each test and I was able to see which ones I got right.
10 Discussions based on the textbook, 1 huge StudyGuide, and 2 exams that you get a 2nd attempt for. If you listen to his feedback for the discussions, you'll do well. The StudyGuide is around 200 pages and required to turn in so start working on that early. Just do your work and you'll be good.
4-wk online class: buy the 2 required ebooks-will save you time!! 2 exams (open notes, no time limit, retake for higher grade), 10 discussion posts (add numbers or lose points but u can repost before deadline), 1 huge study guide (comes w ebook) and all answers are provided (but make sure and comment on all graphs/charts!). Friendly & approachable
4-wk online class: buy the ebooks (not hard copies)-will save you time!! 2 exams (open notes, no time limit, retake for higher grade), 10 discussion posts (can repost before deadline for better grade), 1 huge study guide (comes w ebook) and all answers are provided (but make sure and comment on all graphs/charts!). Extra credit if needed. friendly!
Professor Sarri is a caring instructor, but the workload is quite heavy. The textbook and lecture content are comprehensive, and unstuckstudy AI proved helpful for studying and preparing for the frequent quizzes and essays. Overall, it's a challenging yet rewarding class.
So we had 10 discussions w/ responses, a midterm, an essay, and a final. The workload isn't bad but what is bad is that you have 24 hours to complete the assignments without being able to view what the work is beforehand+no late work. Unclear instructions on assignments. He makes you buy a $200+ textbook he wrote + it's written very poorly.
Terrific, terrific professor. He answers asap and is knowledgeable. His books and study guides are well-written; and a lot, a lot of work. But he is fair and encouraging. Take him and you won't regret it..
Wow, Dr. Sarri is amazing! A lot of work but he is prompt and compassionate. His textbook is fantastic and available at the college libraries or inexpensive online. He is my best!
Very easy-going prof. Grade consists of a Study Guide, 10 discussions, a Midterm, and a Final. Study guide is cumulative and as long as you work on it throughout the semester, it's not too hard. Do be warned, it piles up much faster than you may think. This is a reading intensive class where you teach yourself most of the time, so be prep'd for it
Dr. Sarri was by far the best CSN prof I have had. He listens, is always available, leaves feedback, extremely helpful, and a fair grader. If I could take him and only him for every last one of my classes I would in a heartbeat. Don't miss out on the chance to have him, he fills up quick!! the class is discussion posts, 2 tests & extra credit paper
He is so confusing and his instructions are never clear.
Awesome professor. A lot of work but very encouraging and crystal clear.
Absolutely wonderful professor. He answers you quickly and he is a great motivator.
Class is straight-forward. Do the discussions, mid-term & final, and fill out the study guide. Study guide is a lot so work on it throughout the semester. Stay on top of the readings, it can be lengthy and you don't want to fall behind. He's very lenient with grading, so as long as you put in an effort and follow instructions you'll be fine.
Would take him again! work is very straightforward. multiple discussions posts. and exam is easy and only 25 questions. able to use other resources if yk,yk.
This professor was honestly one of the best. His workload (eSG - study guide) can be overwhelming if you wait until the last week of class to do it. Discussions are due every couple of days, one midterm, one final, a study guide and a chance for extra credit. I would highly suggest you take all of his available courses for ECON & PHIL
There is alot I could say, but there is a word limit here. If you take his class, be prepared to buy a book he wrote (only for a topic list for the paper), be confused because he is anything but clear and is constantly contradictory. This instructor focuses on semantics, like word counts and page limits. Waste of time and money for sure.
Dr. Sarri is fabulous. He is a too professional in his field and very, very encouraging!
Dr. Sarri is awesome! He is professional, polite, and patient. Take him..
I took the 8-week course, and it was so easy! There is one discussion a week with a midterm and final that both have 20 quick and easy questions (two attempts). The only reason I don't have an A is because I slacked a bit on the only final paper for the term (1500 words), with any topic of choice from the textbook. Regardless, would take it again!
Terrific professor. Dr. Sarri is knowledgable, pragmatic, and compassionate. He answers you right away and allows many chances to do better. Best!!
Good prof, but his wording is very confusing at times, just ask questions if you need help, the assignments are simple.
