Professor Tullock is awesome. His class is fun and entertaining. He knows how hard history can be for some and tries to explain it in ways we would understand. If you attend class, pay attention, and study the reviews you are going to do amazing in this class.
I love him! He is so funny and a great professor. Not the easiest professor, but over all I thought the class was okay. You need good notes and to read all the chapters. He gets off topic really easily and has the best stories and songs to play. He is great!!!
Great professor. Very passionate about this subject. Made learning history fun. Never liked history before this class. Test are very easy gives you the study guide & essay questions. Only uses book to study for quizzes. He tells you what chapters they will be
Mr. Tullock is a passionate man about history. His knowledge for the course is superior. He really tries his hardest to make History fun& appealing to all students. With that said, you WILL have to read the textbook to do well in this class. There are reading quizzes& the tests are challenging. NOT a blowoff class. I loved this class! worth taking!
Professor Tullock is an outstanding teacher and human being. From day one to the final exam you could tell Prof. Tullock truly cared about his students and their understanding of his course. He adds a personal touch to teaching history that definitely helped me undertand and remember things necessary for the exams.
Professor Tullock is the sweetest man at Collin. Make sure you purchase the textbook, keep up with the readings and take good notes and you should be fine in the class. I seriously loved this class so much, especially the professor.
BEST TEACHER EVER. MAKES LEARNING HISTIRY WAAAY MORE INTERSTING AND HE WANTS THE CLASS TO ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT ANYTHING... BEST TEACHER
Dr. Tullock is the best History Professor by far! He is smart, caring, and seriously a goofy guy. He is fair, never too easy but never too hard and makes you feel comfortable to talk about your grade! TAKE HIM, you will not regret it!
Dr. Tullock is an amazing professor. Easily my favorite professors in college so far. He gives you all the information you need for the exams and is very passionate about his subject. He is very enthusiastic and entertaining in the classroom, and will always keep your attention. I definitely recommend him to anyone.
Dr. Tullock is the sweetest person you'll ever meet. He has a lot of great stories, although it really took away from lecture time... therefore, YOU NEED THE BOOK. That is 95% of your test, and 100% of quizzes! He provides a study guide, which helps you pass, but you need to go past it to make an A on tests. I recommend him!
I'll keep it simple: Tullock is great teacher. Expressive, enthusiastic, and passionate about his students. Please take his class if you can; it's worth all the reading.
He is super nice but all of his work is focused on the readings. YOU HAVE TO READ THE BOOK. I took it at 8:00 am and it was crappy getting there in the morning
Mr. Tullock is a very sweet man but if youre not dedicated to the textbook you can forget about passing the class. His lectures veer off into completely different subjects than what you will be tested on. So if youre not experienced in teaching yourself via textbook, i wouldnt recommend him
Loved this guy! does tend to get off topic some, but his stories are good.. come prepared/read.-that's not a lot to ask for in a history class. willing to answer any questions you have. definitely has a love for his students you don't see very often. You're welcome, Tullock, here's your hot chili pepper! You deserve it.
I've observed that Professor Tullock is a sentimental man and his lecture style is rather unconventional; in that, he relies more on discussion of the material at-hand than to give slides, or long speeches, of the material for note-takers. This is certainly not the type of professor for those who are used to tests, or in order words, AP Students.
BEST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD! He is the nicest professor and he is always willing to help! For every test he gives a study guide so you're always prepared for the tests. He's hilarious and always tells funny stories. If you don't like history now, you will DEFINITELY like it after taking Professor Tullock's class.
Dr. Tullock is by far an amazing professor and very smart. He knows his stuff and he is just a very funny guy and trust me you wont have any boring days. He is AWESOMEEEE!!!!! TAKE HIM
Best professor I ever had. Cares about his students. Gives a study guide with all you need to know to do well in the course. Very funny and entertaining! Took him for 1302 as well. As long as you read your textbook and follow your outline there is no reason to not get an A!
Dr. T is amazing! I took him for 1301 too and he is very helpful! His classes are very interesting! You have to read the textbook and follow his study guide, and you can make an A :)
BEST TEACHER AT COLLIN.
Great man with a "different" sense of humor. Obviously knows a lot about history. Jumps around a lot in lectures. USE HIS STUDY GUIDES! If you really know all of the key terms and can answer the thematic questions, you will do well on tests. Do your readings every night. TAKE HIM FOR HISTORY! :)
Second time taking his class and I am so glad to have found him! I am not the biggest fan of history but he makes it fun and interesting. I would skim the material, study his review, and take notes and you will make a b or higher. Do not talk while he is teaching, fall asleep, or use your phone in his class. He deserves more respect than that!
Show up everyday, and read. He explains most everything in class, but I was the type of student who still had to read. His tests are TOUGH! The toughest, NOT an understatement! I'd still take him again because he's funny and easy-going and there for you like no other, but his pet peeve is students on their phones. He's really worth taking
An AMAZING professor! This is the second time I took one of his classes. You can tell right away that he is so into the content and at times can be "funny". You HAVE to study for his class in order to pass the class however he gives you the study guide just study it religiously. Textbook is mandatory
He's a great professor. He lived the history he is telling, and has so many stories to tell! You couldn't fall asleep if you tried. But if you can't put your cell phone down, don't take his class.
Dr. Tullock is an amazing professor! He cares about his students and about the history he teaches. His tests aren't hard, his classes are hilarious, and Dr. Tullock makes history come alive. However, if you can't respect him enough to NOT be on your cell phone during class, his class is not for you. Otherwise, BEST history class I've ever taken!
Passionate, compassionate, caring, genuine, sentimental and amazing human being. 3 tests, no comprehensive final, 1 paper, 1 letter to him about urself, and a quiz every few weeks which he tells u abt in advance. Loved going to class. Does not post grades on blackboard, and tests are all writing, but he gives you exactly what he will ask beforehand
Mr. Tullock is a great teacher who you can truly tell has a passion for history as well as for his students. His tests are tough, but if you have listened in class and done the assigned readings you will be fine. He ensures you know the material and is more than welcoming if you need help. I would take him again in a heart beat.
He's very passionate and funny. He really cares about his students and wants them to get good grades. He gets upset if you don't ask questions or laugh at his jokes.
I had taken two classes with him, HIST1302 and HUMA1301. He is an awesome human being. Dr. Tullock is flawless. I do not have words to describe him, just amazing.
He is goofy in human form. He makes his class super fun and interesting. He is very sweet. His class is not a easy A, I got a C. Because he requires a lot of reading from the textbook. No papers just tests and quizzes.
So nice!
Dr. Tullock is hands down the best teacher I've ever had, and not just in college. I love him. He's the sweetest little old man ever. He cares about his students and wants them to succeed. I finished 1301 and -02 two years ago and I still go talk to him. Tests are hard if you don't read the book but easy if you do. Take his classes if you can.
Dr. Tullock is and continues to be my absolute favorite professor I have ever had! He is such a caring person and genuinely wants all of his students to succeed. He is an extremely fair grader and will even curve grades if he sees most of the students missed the same test questions. Show up to class (you'll want to!), read the book and you'll pass.
I have taken numerous classes with Dr. Tullock, and he continues to impress me every time. He is interested in the content, puts effort into his lectures, and is interested in what the class has to say. He is a tough-grader, but a great teacher!
One of my favorite professors by far. Took him for HIST1301 and 1302, and recieved an A in both. Just make sure you read the textbook and go to class, that is what his tests are based on. tells you the class before that you will have a quiz the next class time, and interesting lectures! Made me enjoy history.
Very informative and makes class enjoyable and fun! He knows a lot about History and loves to have discussions on the topic. If you do the work/read, it's an easy A!
Best professor ever! He explains everything in an interesting and engaging way. I am never bored in his class. Dr Tullock is really sweet and will give answers to test questions the day before. He is very helpful and will answer any questions you have. He also enjoys class discussions and values student input. I would definitely take him again!
Amazing professor! Really cares about his students and is easy! He made history enjoyable for me even though I dislike it very much. Just show effort and pay attention and you will do fine. Quizzes every now and then over textbook, but he will let you know ahead of time. I wish I could take him again!
Dr. Tullock is simply an amazing human being. He doesn't just care about his students, he genuinely loves them and wants them to live up to their potential. His PhD is in American religious history and he is an expert on the Puritans. Be prepared to work hard and have a great experience. Love Dr. T!
Tullock is an adorable and loving old man. Genuinely cares about all his students and wants them all to pass. Gives out 5 answers the day before the test, & everything you need to know is on the review guides (the essay questions he uses are on the review, but chooses 3 of the 4). 1 extra credit assignment & you need to read. 4 tests & 6-8 quizzes.
He really cares about the students and wants everyone to succeed. Tests are 40 questions and has an essay part (which is annoying) and you have reading quizzes out of the textbook. Really enjoys the subject which shows in his lectures. Take him if you want a enjoyable history class. If you're looking for an easy A this is not the one to take.
Easily the greatest and kindest professor I've ever taken at Collin. He is incredibly passionate about history and each student! He adds unique and interesting touches to his lectures, so you never hear anything straight from the textbook. The 4 tests are 40 Q's + 1 essay, study well for those. Easy 6-8 quizzes. He was challenging + fun, take him!
Dr. Tullock is an incredibly nice human being but he does not teach anything in class. You have to read 50 pages long chapters on your own and study for the tests.
I absolutely love Dr. Tullock! He is actually interested in history which makes it a joy to be in his class. He's really funny so hopefully you're not an 'internal laugher' like myself because he likes his jokes to be appreciated I did pretty poorly in this class grade-wise but that does not reflect on his teaching at all! He wants you to do well!
Hes the sweetest profesor Ive ever met. Hes very caring kinda like a grandpa and trys really hard not to bore you to death with history. Hes just awesome. Hes made me happy on the hardest days. He really is a good teacher though! Take him!
Don't take him. He tells his own stories all the time from his childhood and you have to read 1000 pages for the tests coz nothing on the tests is from those stories. Sweet guy but makes you work hard. I spent hours in library just reading history which made no sense because I am taking Physics, Calculus, C++ classes.
Professor Tullock is an amazing human being, hes caring and he cracks a lot of joke. BUT, there is a downfall. That being, that he likes to tell a lot of personal stories, his lectures dont really cover enough to merit taking notes to study for a test. So you catch yourself reading 5 chapters on your own time just to keep up with the curriculum.
Professor Tullock is extremely relatable to anything you feel like telling him. The lectures are not very heavy, but some of the material is a good 25% percentof the tests, the rest comes from the textbook, which I found very enjoyable and informative. Read the book, take key notes in class, laugh at his jokes, and you got an A.
Professor Tullock is Amazing, he is very funny and understanding, the tests are not hard if you study the study guide. but for sure will take him again.
Very kind and personable, really cares about his students. You have to read every chapter in book, you will have quizzes over them. Exams are pretty hard, 40 multiple choice (all very good choices) & a 20 pt essay. I read & studied & rarely missed class, but still made a B in this class. Nice professor & not a lot of hw other than reading
I took 1301 & 1302 and it was the best decision ever. Great professor. He makes the material relevant to his students & divides it into easily digestible chunks. He's hilarious & loves to joke around. He knows a lot about history, & welcomes when students ask questions. Tests are easy if you attend lecture. Quizzes are easy if you read the book.
best professor i've had at collin so far! he's kind, caring, and compassionate to his students and goes beyond just teaching them the course material.
Best History professor so far. This class is a easy A if you READ. Please make sure to read all your chapters! Dr. Tullock gives you more than enough time to read all your chapters so theres no excuse. He's also a very caring and sweet professor. He actually cares about his students and wont hesitate to help you in anyway he can.
Awesome class. humanities was great!! Learned alot. very good educator
His lecture is nothing with the tests! Good luck fellow! Swallow your hundreds pages textbook. You might pass
He is the kindest & most goofy professor I've had. He lectures in a story kind of way & makes it really relatable, He pours his heart into this job. He is truly passionate about it & it shows. His final isn't cumulative and there are only a few quizzes he warns you about ahead of time. He doesn't give you grades, you earn them. I still visit him
Absolute gem! He is very funny but always respectful. He loves history and it shows! He rambles quite a bit in lectures but if he realizes he didn't go over something clearly in class, he'll give you the question on the test for free. If you read the chapters, look over the study guide, and take at least mediocre notes in class, you'll get an A.
Dr. Tullock was very cool but coming to class was mandatory because he has answers on his test that say "In the professors opinion.. whats the answer" study guides are awful, he rambles during class so nothing gets done, show up to class to hear his opinions, he tells lots of stories over nothing, doesnt post any grades, no HW or quiz grades
DR.T is by far the best professor ive had. i took his 1301 history class and then his 1302. both were just as great as his humanities class. he loves his job and his students. every now and then he will tell stories about himself, i personally enjoy the heck out of them, he has a funny/not so funny kind of humor. show up and you should pass.
Love!! Has great lectures and really cares about the students and their ability to pass the class. Gotta show up to class, the lecture material is covered on the test as well as in the book! He brings up his personal history to go along with what we are learning, so just be aware there is a little side tracking at times, but its always interesting
I loved professor Tullock. He uses his personal experiences and stories to help you get an idea/picture of what he is talking about. There are some off topic discussions, but it makes class interesting. If you show up to class and read the chapters, you won't fail his class. He is super nice and willing to help you if you need it. Highly recommend!
Amazing teacher. caring and kind and fun. teaches in an engaging way and the work load is not too much. as long as you read and pay attention, you will do just fine. Tullock is understanding about personal issues and if you communicate with him, he will help you any way he can.
Kind, passionate, and funny! Loves to engage with the class but led to off topic discussions that took away from the lessons. While this wasnt for me, I am sad to leave his class bc I really enjoy him as a person. I highly recommend reading and taking notes on the textbook and the stuff in class, bc he has test ?s that are from his lectures only.
Dr. Tullock is a very kind and caring man. Really tries to relate past events with current events. Reading every week, reading quizzes every other week. Tests are multiple choice and short answer. Online was made as simple and stress free as possible. Tests online were written prompts. Makes lessons tangible to his students.
Dr. Tullock is an awesome professor. His lectures can get off topic but that is what makes them interesting. While attendance isn't mandatory, you really shouldn't skip a class because each lecture helps with the tests, and he doesn't put them online.
Dr. Tullock is one of the best professors I have ever had. Lectures are engaging, full of information, and relatable. You must attend class, as he gives reading quizzes over lectures and the book. Tests are essay based, no multiple choice. He cares about all of his students and wants the best for them. You'll end up with a professor and a mentor!
I have had the pleasure of taking three semesters with Dr. Tullock. I have taken his HIST 1301 course, HIST1302, and Western Civ 2 with him. Dr. Tullock makes his own curriculum, is genial, and is passionate about what he teaches. I recommend him to the highest degree and am thankful that I had the chance to take so many courses with him.
reading heavy.
Dr. Tullock is an amazing person who wants the best for his students and helps us in any way we need. As for his class: Read the textbook often because the quizzes and exams will be heavily based on the textbook. The book is free online so it's not hard to access, and he gives us major themes (topics) for the essay exams beforehand to prepare.
Dr. Tullock is a great professor who genuinely wants you to succeed. He expects hard work to be put in and wants us to learn beyond just A, B, C and D. Tests are formatted essay style so you are forced to master the material.
Take him! Just take him!
Dr. T is a very caring man, who loves teaching and helping people learn. Class is passed on discussion of the assigned readings (free textbook used), and is more of a conversation. 2 tests, essays, based on understanding of reading. Reading quizzes, always tells you about them ahead of time. Outlines provided. GREAT professor!
He's a great professor. Make sure to read the textbook before class, because mostly in class we have discussions.
Take him! He is so caring and understanding with everyone, he also tries to get everyone involved and learns everyone's name. Class is pure discussion but you do need to read! Quizzes almost every time we go to class but he does warn you and tries to help! Do not make the mistake I did and not read a single page of that textbook, READ!
Dr. Tullock genuinely cares about his students! Each week we go over a new chapter from American Yawp. Typically have a quiz each week. Mid term and Final essay questions are given to you in the syllabus, so you have ample time to prepare. As long as you read each chapter and attend class, you will do great! He's supportive and wants you to succeed
I have taken Professor three times in HIST 1,2, and HUMA 1. He Is very caring about his students and wants them to succeed. Attendance is pretty mandatory as a lot of information is in the lectures and the text book. He tries very hard to work with students but is not a push over. Professor Tullock is 9/10 professor and I would take him a 4th time.
Professor Tullock's class was very good, he is super knowledgeable about history, he will not only teach you and help you analyze, compare, contrast history facts but he will make sure that you become a better human being by learning from the past and the mistake that were made by others. Great professor, awesome class. TAKE IT!
I would definitely recommend Dr Tullock for HIST1301. The textbook we use, The American Yawp, is open-sourced and available for free online. Come to the class for his lectures, read the chapters, do the quizzes, and you will certainly pass. Super fun and caring as well.
Professor Tullock was by far the best professor I have taken at Collin, his lectures are engaging and interesting especially when he shares his personal stories of what he remembers of his time in history. He doesn't grade many assignments I believe it's about like 6 that he grades overall, but I would recommend taking him it's a great course!
This professor did nothing but talk about his own stories and did little actual teaching in history. Not only that, he is also very strict, forcing you to take notes in pen and paper, cares way too much about what you do in class.
Professor Tullock teaches very little actual material during his lectures and constantly goes off topic and starts rambling. If attendance wasn't mandatory, I wouldn't go to his classes, you're better off just reading the textbook. He also takes ages to put in grades.
This is the nicest professor you're ever gonna meet. His classes are really fun and enjoyable!!
I highly recommend taking Dr. Tullock for HUMA 1301. He really cares for his students. There is no textbook required. His quizzes and exams are all open-ended, but I promise you it is not bad at all. Seriously, it couldn't be easier. That said, you do need to know your stuff because you can't just wing an exam.
One of the best teachers I have ever had. He cares about the students and makes an effort to get people engaged and active during lectures. Very fast grader and gives you free questions on tests before you take them. Some quizzes are group work (only 2 people) and gives you due dates months in advance
This professor is by far the best history professor I have ever had, and the stories he tells during lectures are amusing and help illustrate the material. Attendance isn't graded, but the tests will have a few questions on material only discussed in class. I've nothing but praise for him, and I wish there was more courses I could take with him
He is an amazing professor. 8 quizzes, 3 tests, very clear on what will be on the test. also gives at 4 or 5 answers to each test. he is hilarious and a very caring man with a lot of small stories to tell.
Dr. Tullock is an excellent professor!! Course can be a lot of reading if taken over the summer, but Dr. Tullock always makes his seminars very engaging, and always looks for ways to help students with anything they are struggling. He deeply cares about his students and about the things he is teaching! You need to take Dr. Tullock for History 1302!
I took Dr. Tullock for both HIST1301&1302. He is, without a doubt, one of the best teachers I have had at any level of schooling. He cares so deeply about what he is teaching and his students. The only way you will get anything below a B is by never going or not trying. GO TO THE STUDY SESSIONS HE OFFERS! They will double your grade, guaranteed.
I took him for 3 courses and wish I could take more. I have never had a professor care so much about the well being of his students. His tests and quizzes can be hard, but I find it so much more worth it to have a professor like him in your corner. Best professor hands down. Please take his classes and you will not regret it!
Dr. T made history a subject that was fun to learn. He is also so nice and approachable with any questions you may have. recommend.
He is a great teacher and cares deeply for his students
Professor Tullock is a great teacher who cares about his students, is passionate about the material, and overall has a great personality!
He's my favorite teacher thus far and I plan on taking him again. He's the best!
Professor Tullock's class was engaging and insightful. While lectures can be lengthy, his passion for history and focus on personal growth make the course worthwhile. Use unstuck AI alongside the textbook for efficient prep.
Dr.T is a polite man. Very funny and charming personality. Please don't use cell phones in class, makes him upset. Take notes, study, and show up, and you will do great!
He is the best professor I have ever had. He is kind, funny, approachable, and very knowledgeable. He cares a lot for his students and he makes learning about history a lot of fun. I wish I could take his class over and over. The best college experience I've ever had. I highly recommend taking this courses!!
This is my second time taking his class and he's the best history professor I've ever had. He is so funny, just pay attention and respect him and his lectures. He is very passionate about what he is teaching. There also is no hw with him unless its studying. I refused to get any other professor. He is truly a sweetheart, so show up ready to learn!
Profesor Tullock is the best and sweetest professor I have ever had. He tries his best to keep his lectures as entertaining as possible in order to keep students engaged. If you take his class please respect him, be patient and pay attention to what he teaches because he is genuinely passionate about what he teaches.
Dr. T is the greatest to ever do it. If you want a professor who's unbelievably caring, sweet, and funny, take US History with him. He never has a boring lecture, and if you love history, you will love it even more after taking him. If you aren't taking time after class or attending office hours to talk with him, what are you doing with your life?
Dr. T is an amazing teacher who puts his students first, he loves the material and uses a free online source that is very easy to understand. He tells you the pool of 3 essay questions he will give and he will put two on the exams for you to choose from. Mostly multiple choice and an essay portion that can be easily done if you read the material.
Dr. T is the sweetest & funniest professor I have had yet. I am not a history lover, but he never fails to make his lectures fun and interesting. He strives to connect with his students & ALWAYS makes it clear in many ways that he cares for his students. He truly wants his classes to succeed. Will definitely be taking his class again for 1302!
Very passionate about what he teaches. Lectures don't cover all of what's on the quiz/test, so get ready to read. Phones really bother him, so be respectful and put them away.
Professor Tullock was so amazing! I took his HIST 1302 class during the Spring 2025 semester and it was surprisingly easy for a history course. Totally recommend!
Best professor ever, his course is well organized, his lectures are also entertaining and informative. (He also saved us from a killer wasp) highly recommended.
