He is super cool and cute. His lecture is helpful and the test is not hard. Lecture plus 6 assignments project. They all are helpful to understand today's economy. It is not wasteful. Recommanded.
Not a boring class like I first thought. Prof F is very passionate about the course, friendly, easy going and responds quickly to email. He's nice to everyone and actually answers your questions. 6 HWs, a project that he guides students thru, and 2 tests. No book needed just go to the class. Definitely recommend him!
Exams come straight from lecture. He's younh but knows his stuff. Cool with everyone. You can talk to him about pretty much anythin. 11 chapters but lectures are clear and likes questions. Go to his office hours and he'll help you. Guuides you through the project. He gets back to you fast.
Awesome professor. Laid back. Submit everything online except midterm & final. Great with getting back to you. Loves questions and very clear. You learn a lot from him.
Prior to attending I thought the class would be boring. But he has proved that wrong. His teaching style is always interesting and engaging, which makes it difficult not to listen. He speaks in a loud booming voice that you can hear even in the back.He is very approachable and returns your emails promptly. He needs to use bolder chalk, hard to see.
Prior to attending this class i thought it would be boring.I was proved wrong. Prof. F is teaching is entertaining, engaging, & interesting, along with his loud booming voice it makes it easy to hear from the back.It is hard not to stay interested in the class as he is passionate in what he teaches.I advice he use bolder chalk, hard to see from far
I thought he was a student but Prof S. is super nice and helpful. Fast in getting back to you. You do a LOT of reading and writing but he is a fair grader. Exams are not easy, so go to class. The best part is that there is no textbook and his lectures are detailed. Definitely would taken him again.
Prof. Ferencz is one of the most respecful professors (which is really hard to find) that I have ever known at Calstatela. He cares for the students. He grades fairly; morever, if u ask for help I see no reason why not to get an A in his class. He is always there for u. I would take him again. THE BEST!CUTE!RESPECFUL!
I never thought I'd get econ until I took Prof. Ferencz. He makes sure that everyone is getting the material. Sometimes he talks a little fast but if you tell him, he slows down. Mellow guy and very helpful. Highly recommended,
Exams are not easy but Professor Ferencz is a fair grader. Begins class with some current event and relates it to material. No book but his notes are detailed. He is laid back and answers your questions.
I did not want to tkae this class at first but it ended up being my favoriate. Prof. S is clear and examples are from current news. Exams are tough but he curves and provides reviews. You can tell he likes this subject. No book.
Exams are hard and all essay! Offers extra credit on the final. Lecture isnt mandatory but you need to go. If you dont take the prereq class, the class is hard. But, he is really nice and will help you in anyway he can.. He has slides and writes on the board and if you dont get something, hell go over it again and again. No textbook.
Boring topic. Prof Ferencz always asked if we got it and gave more examples if we were lost. Gives practice exams and had a study session outside of class. Midterm and final come from his notes. Only thing I would suggest is to give more guidance on the outline fore the project. Bseides that, I'd take him again. Nice guy.
Best Math teacher I've ever had. He explains the material very well and everything on the exam is exactly what you go over in class. I challenge another professor to do a better job.
Might be the best Professor you'll find at CSULA. Loves his subject matter and can relate it to real life issues. No book, everything is from his notes. Recommend you don't miss a class, but his notes are pretty thorough. If you gotta take ECON 209, this is the guy.
Best math teacher. Period. Prof. S- makes one of the worst subjects actually easy to get. He breakds down everything and always helps with any question that his students have. Prof. S- also held a review class before the final.
He's extremely chill and makes for the classroom to have a very postive energy. No textbook, Five 2 papers due, one regression project that was a bit of a headache due at the end of quarter. His tests can be kinda rough (short essay), but he gives essay questions you can pick and choose from to answer. I recommend.
Prof Ferencz is an encyclopedia of economics. He is very knowledge and approachable. Prof Ferencz is very clear with his notes and encourages questions. He gives out sample exams but tests are tough (there is a curve). No book but a lot of articles.
Very passionate about economics and he knows how to lecture about complicated issues like subsidies and GMOs. The professor makes the class fun and he really enjoys questions. His tests are based off of his notes but the tests are pretty hard.
The best professor I've had in my college career thus far. Very knowledgeable in his field and teaches economics in a straightforward way. Really approachable guy so if you have trouble don't be shy to ask for help! No book used in the class just read the articles he posts online. Looking forward to having him for econ 310!
Super funny, helpful, and approachable! Will always relate material to real-life examples. 2 papers, midterm+final. Exams can be tough, but he gives you examples of his exams and outlines what to study. Essays are also clearly outlined and easy. Will go over things to no end if you need clarification. Keep up with the readings, all free online!
Professor Ferencz is one of the most informative and entertaining instructors at Calstate LA. He explains the material very clearly and continually asks if students understand the material. He is very approachable and goes out of his way to help students. His exams are tough but he curves. His notes are very detailed so don't get the book
Prof F. is one of the few professors who can taking a boring topic and make it interesting. His gives students copies of his notes and always asks if you understand the material. His exams are hard but they are off his notes and he curves. Nice guy, funny and there for you.
Very animated. Prof. Ferencz puts all notes online. He covers a lot but he teaches clearly. His notes are very clear and easy to follow. He encourages questions and participation. Exams are based on notes and homework. There are review sessions before exams. 3 exams and assignments.
You leave the class actually understanding statistics. He really enjoys teaching and takes it seriously. He explains everything so clearly and uses actual business studies in class examples. All notes (no book), assignments and sample exams are online. He isn't easy and you do work for your grade. Highly recommended.
This is the hardest class that I have taken. The class combines the typical econ graphs with calculus. The material is dense and not easy. Prof Ferencz is a gem because he breaks down all the calculus for you and explains the materia lclearly. If you're lost, he'll come up with different ways to explain the material. 3 exams & 1 paper.
Hands down probably one of the best professors I had at CSULA. Professor Ferencz is very clear and straight forward. He definitely knows how to teach and provides study guides for exams. Refreshing to see a professor that does not use power point. His exams can be tricky though.
Prof. Sandor is a wonderful professor that really loves teaching. He had some of the best lectures I have heard at CSULA. Encourages questions and participation in his class. His exams and papers are challenging but he walked through each of the questions in advance. No textbook but you will read A LOT.
This was a challenging class but very enjoyable. Prof. Ferencz is very lively, approachable and presents the material very well. I struggled with a proof and he sat with me until I finally understood it. Exams are not easy but everything came off class notes. Lots of articles but it applies to the class.
I'm an international student and was impressed with Prof. Ferencz's lectures. His notes were clear and based on readings, which the professor posted on his online directory. Exams were challenging but he he review sessions There was a term paper but he reviewed it before the due date and gave feedback. Lively lectures and enjoyed questions.
Exams are doable. All notes are online which is a huge plus. Exams are based on notes and review questions. The paper is based on 5 possible topics. Gives good feedback on papers if you ask. Encourages participation and questions. If you don't get something, he'll come up with a different explanation. Writes a bit small though.
Prof Ferencz was one of the most passionate professors I've encountered at CSULA and in the Economics department. He thoroughly and patiently answered any questions we had and created a welcoming class environment where students feel free to discuss and ask about the subject matter. Exams are essay but he has review sessions.
I really appreciated Prof F's patience with students. He cared that we really got the subject. He would go back if he needed to, to make sure the students understood what was being taught. He is very understanding and made it feel ok to be freaked out about the material but also let us know we would be ok. He gives his notes! Book not needed.
This is kind of a unique time because we transitioned to online classes during the covid-19 pandemic. This was a fairly challenging class but he was accessible and reasonable. But you need your book. And take lots of notes.
Covid19 forced everything to be online but Prof Sandor recorded all his lectures for us to watch. Video lectures are clear and if you have questions, he responds really fast. Available through video all day and late at night. Weekly assignments prep you for the exams and they are based on lectures. If you need to take stats, take him!
Friends told me to take Prof Sandor for microecon! Glad I did! He puts video lectures, notes, and book online (all free). Take lots of notes and read the book. Pretty fast in getting back to you with questions. He has weekly review sessions and quizzes are based on notes and readings. He's not easy but really nice and wants to help!
Smartest, nicest and hardest professor I've had so far at CalStateLA. Prof F- puts his lectures online for us to watch before class. He's clear with his notes and likes questions. During class, we would do sample problems. I went to his office hours a few times and he is so patient. His exams are not easy and you really work for your grade.
Dr. F- is very passionate, chill, patient and understanding. I didn't feel that I missed anything from not being able to go to class because of Covid. He posted videos of all his lectures. Lectures are clear and answers questions. Dr. F- has review sessions for each exam. Weekly homework, three exams that aren't easy, and a project.
I feel like I learned a lot during this class. Out of all of my classes this semester, I believe this class will help me the most even after I graduate CSULA. Many topics were hard but the professor was so patient and did his best to explain the material. He has reviews before each exam. Five quantitative assignments, three exams and a paper.
Dr. Ferencz is the GOAT at CalState LA. The hardest class I have taken at CalState but my favorite. Dr. F shows how economics and politics are intertwined and he uses current events in all his lectures. Exams and papers are tough but he's fair in grading. He demands a lot but he's patient. Great lectures, funny and very friendly.
This professor is one of the best there is at the university. He is very understanding of the fact that we are going through a global pandemic and is very good and making his students understand the course material. Without a doubt one of the best professors I've had in some time.
Professor F is an amazing professor! He wants his students to learn and will always be willing to help. He also relates his class to real life to actually benefit the students later on. He is nice and very caring.
Nice professor, understanding, and knowledgable man with interesting and entertaining examples presented in class. A lot of work, so you must put in the time. Only issue was that he NEVER ONCE took a break during our 2 hour 45 min class.
Take him! He actually responds to emails, texts and he keeps his office hours! Prof F is nice and caring. His class has recorded lectures that make sense and he posts his notes for students. Tests are ok and assignments arent too bad. Best prof for online classes. Going to take him in person next semester.
I've had Prof F- for a in-person class before and I prefer taking him in-person. Online is harder. His notes and recorded lectures are a lifesaver. The textbook is free but I didn't really read it. Prof F- holds virtual review sessions if you ask him. 5 homeworks, 3 exams, 1 EC and all open book. Canvas had issues a few times but he'd fix it quick.
Another professor told me to take Dr. Sandor. Dr. Sandor is wikipedia. Lectures are really interesting and fun but you need to keep up with the reading. Dr. Sandor explained the theory and helped us understand the hard articles. Hardest part was making a video of our paper that he grades. No book.
This professor has got to be the best professor I've had throughout my years at CSULA. Even though the concepts can be dense he makes them easy to understand, and if you take notes and ask questions you'll get through his class. However, be ready to sit through the entire class time but I didn't mind. If you're okay with that, take his classes.
One of the better online profs. I had problems with Canvas and some of the material and he helped out. Very patient during office hours and pretty flexible with assignments. Gives EC which helps. Material hard at first but got easier. Uses a free book, gives his notes and videos. Notes are better than book.
Extremely good teacher, hes fun and very lenient when it comes to grades and exams. I took him for winter 2022 and it was the best class I've took to date. He is extremely caring when it comes to students and makes sure to make the lectures fun and not boring when presenting. He even bumped my grade up when I had fallen short of an A by .0.25%.
This is a hard class, esp the 4th topic. Very intense five weeks. I struggled a lot in the beginning but I went to Prof F-'s office & he always helped. Really nice and patient and he's okay if you're little late with assignments. Tests are hard! You have to read everything and watch the videos. If you're not a econ guy, go to his office hours.
Stats is hard but very well organized online class. Dr. Ferencz had clear grading guidelines and was always available during office hours. I couldn't attend a couple and he set up a 1:1 session. Very laid back and knowledgeable. Get an older version of the book and don't be afraid to ask for help. Exams not cumulative and there's a big project.
Professor Ferencz is an amazing professor. The lectures were very engaging and informative. I feel like I learned more from his classes than any other classes I've taken at CSULA combined.
Lectures are amazing and fun but you need to go to his lectures to pass. I appreciated how the professor managed to turn what sometimes can be considered boring parts of economics into interesting discussions. The professor uses the many real life examples both past and present to describe the economic concepts that we were examining in class.
OMG! This class was hard! If you are looking for an easy class, RUN! The professor loves to teach but he's HARD! Exams are tough and you need to read everything! No extra credit! He's good about office hours. You NEED to go class or you will barely pass if you're lucky. Everything is take home.
Second time taking stats. I wish I took Prof F first. The reviews are true! He's tough but the professor posts lecture videos and notes. Go to his office hours. He's patient, nice and understanding. He really wants to help. You do a lot of work that's all online. Tests are not easy but he gives you a lot of time.
Very challenging class that is taught by a very smart professor. All notes online, but for the last half of the semester, professor gave the class handwritten notes that are very detailed, making the book no longer necessary. Very friendly, passionate when teaching, and friendly. A few assignments, 3 exams, and a paper. Will take him again.
Online class is pretty hard but Professor is always available and responds quickly to questions. Answers make sense and asks if I got it. Posts videos of him explaining the chapters. Papers are not easy but he gives feedback on rough drafts. Good about giving extensions if you ask. Will take Prof Sandor for another class.
The professor is challenging but amazing. He provides notes to help students who may be behind or are in need of extra help. He makes sure to go over materials that students may not have learned before. He shows a lot of respect for his students. The structure of the class and the professor's ways of teaching is very effective.
Best prof ever. Prof S is hilarious, caring, and understanding. he very much cares about his students and wether they are understanding the course materials. His style of teaching is very fun and he makes all his lectures engaging. Won't disappoint, take him!!!!!
I found his lectures to be informative while still engaging the class with real world examples that really helped to understand the course materials. I thought that his teaching style was easy to follow and he was always there to answer any questions and explain anything further in depth, which I appreciated.
Online stats is SO hard because you have to stay on top of everything! Lots assignments that are due around quizzes. Prof Sandor is really great with office hours & really patient. He explains the material in different ways if you're lost. He recorded lectures which helped a lot. Don't use Chegg, he found out that others used it on tests.
Prof F actually made statistics interesting. The lectures aren't boring and he always made sure that we understood the lecture. Very friendly and understanding. Exams are kinda tough but if you follow the Prof's notes, it's not too bad. A couple of assignments, 3 tests, and a project.
I hate online classes but this was the only 1 available. Failed 1st exam. Friend told me to talk to Prof F & he isn't like other profs. He's chill, sarcastic AF, & patient. Met with him on Zoom every week & he always helped. A couple of HWs, discussions that are test questions, a project, 3 tests. You wanna pass stats, talk to him. Got an A-.
Prof took over the class when orig prof left. Prof Sandor is really into economics. He's INTENSE with lectures, even at 8am. Lives on coffee. Really approachable and friendly. It's true, he's sarcastic with his jokes. 6 assignments are kind of tough, 3 exams are ok, but all online. His notes are all you need. Don't need the book.
This was a 5 week class that met online. Dr. Sandor is sooo nice but very passionate about teaching. You learn a lot of economics and how it applies to us. Weekly quizzes are tough but it's a five week class. Don't fall behind because it is really hard to catch up. I struggled with a few lectures and Dr. Sandor was always helpful.
Prof Ferencz is amazing. He gave amazing lectures, pre-recorded videos and class notes. The quizzes were pretty difficult though, so read the textbook thoroughly. Take his class if you want to build a solid foundation of economic knowledge.
Prof Ferencz is amazing. He gave amazing lectures, pre-recorded videos and class notes. The quizzes were pretty difficult though, so read the textbook thoroughly. Take his class if you want to build a solid foundation of economic knowledge. Great professor.
Doesn't respond, never at officer hour. If you are someone asks questions for help and he answers, good.
The content on his pre-recorded lectures are explained clearly. You definitely will be learning a lot from him. The tests are challenging and you will have to work for your grade. I heavily recommend going to office hours or having study groups if you take this course!
Dr. Sandor is the most relatable professor at Calstate LA! Fed project is a group project and it's HARD. His lectures are fun, crazy sarcastic. The group project isn't easy because you need to use python but Dr. Sandor always helped us. He'd ask how we are and BS with us. He was always there for office hours and sometimes outside his hours.
Statistics is painful but the professor's lecture videos really helped. Dr. Ferencz posts his notes on canvas and that really helped while watching the videos. He's really patient and actually there during his office hours. Never makes you feel dumb if you ask a question or make a mistake. Gives partial credit for exams (not easy) too. Good class.
Prof. Sandor has the most amazing lectures. He takes hard topics and explains them well. He makes you feel comfortable asking questions. Very lenient with turning in assignments, but strict with exams. Prof. Sandor is lively, loud, and fun in class. Office hours are calm and he is kind and patient.
My last class at CalState LA was with Prof Sandor. TAKE HIM! You learn more from him than any other professor! His lectures are really interesting and he throws in a joke in the middle. Everything is online! Go to class though because you miss one, it is hard to catch up. Very dedicated to his students.
Great professor!!! You will build a good Econ foundation. Helpful, pre-recorded lecture videos. Statistics is hard so quizzes and exams are hard so you have to study. He gives partial credit on exams so show your work on exams and assignments. 1 time-consuming project but you have a couple of weeks to do it. Take him if you can!
This professor loves math and statistics, and he is a great lecturer. Lectures are loud, passionate, joke filled, and intense. Always asks if we understood material. Office hours are opposite, like really calm and relaxed. Great with giving extensions. Project is not easy but the prof will check your work.
Prof. Sandor is the GOAT for online classes. Really good about communication, unlike other profs. Responds to emails fast, very nice and patient during office hours. His videos are calm and notes are really good. Lots of reading though. I mean a lot. Pretty good about extensions. Exams are kinda hard but assignments, and papers are easy.
Funny! Around 6 assignments and a 7 page paper for a final! 3 exams all online! No group assignments. Easy to understand
Professor Ferencz is the best professor here at Cal State LA! I learned a lot in is market structure class and I loved that he always answered questions. Supportive in his office hours. His instruction was extremely clear. I would definitely take this class again, especially if he's teaching the course. 10/10 Professor.
I struggle with math and Professor Sandor helped me a lot. His videos are great. He is a very nice man and is good at explaining. 3 tests, a couple of group discussions that you need to do, and homework.
Don't buy the book! The notes on Canvas are all you need. Three tests that are multiple choice, along with a couple of assignments. Responds to emails in about 2 days and was good about meeting me on zoom. For an online class, you learn a lot and the professor is a nice guy.
Professor Sandor puts a lot of effort into making the material easy to understand and interesting. He has a great sense of humor and knows how to keep students engaged in class. Exams, which are online, are not easy but not impossible. Very supportive and gives out his notes to students. If you are at CalState LA, you should take him.
Finished CalState LA and just want people to know that Prof Sandor is amazing! Lectures are fun and really likes to talk with students. He's great at answering questions and doesn't make you feel stupid when answering them. Also great with giving extensions if you ask nicely. The online exams are not easy but he gives a lot of time.
He is literally so sweet, he always puts reminders for due dates and adds little jokes, the material is easy with the reading and he has an organized schedule for example we have a discussion normally every due weekends and application papers overall I had an amazing time with this class if you are looking for an Econ professor trust hes the one.
Professor Sandor is amazing! He made economics fun and easy to understand, always breaking down tough concepts with everyday examples. Super approachable, upbeat, and kind. Class never felt stressful. One of the best professors I've ever had!
I took ECON 101 but it was not listed. Do your assignments! You may even do discussion boards early, just remember to come back to do your replies! Gives some points to you on tests and quizzes so I thought that was pretty cool! I felt as if was a lot of reading but it was pretty interesting stuff. Never thought I would actually enjoy this topic.
Wow is all I can say. Prof Sandor is a great professor, smart and really nice. Exams are multiple choice but there's a lot of time for them. Weekly discussions are a pain because you need to reply to two other posts. Papers are easy. Lectures are very interesting and relevant with all the sh*t going on today.
took for GE and was the best class i could pick hes funny, nice, and caring not that much work i think anyone can get an A in his class he gives many resources and makes the topics easy he will also answer litteraly any questioin you could have he wants to help you learn and understand if you ask questions and participate/do all the work u get an A
Professor Sandor has a heart of gold, he's so nice. I went through some personal things this semester and he gave me extensions on my missed assignments. He checked in with me also and helped me a lot during office hours. He gives his notes and you don't need the book. 3 exams that are okay but you have to respond to 2 discussion posts.
Low-key best prof I've had. Turns a boring subject into something actually fun. Super clear lectures, real-life examples, and chill vibes. Easy to talk to, loves chatting after class. Exams are fair and assignments are manageable if you keep up.
